We need a squirrel minion/pet that does extra damage against the game’s (severely ADHD) population of Skritt.

I mean, really… how did the Devs ever come up with Skritt and NOT include their obvious nemesis, the Squirrel of Doom?

PLEASE let us vendor Gauntlet Tickets.....

I just want to add my (and my husband’s) voice to this idea. Neither of us has even the slightest interest in doing the Gauntlet… which should be evident given the stacks of tickets we have left from last year’s event. I had really hoped, when I saw the Festival announced, that one of the tradeable trophies we could use with vendors would be the Gauntlet tickets, but no such luck.

I’d even be happy if we could deposit them into our guild vaults for other guildies to use… just SOME way of getting them to people who will actually use them – I don’t even care about profiting off of the “transaction.”

They’re just completely useless “as is”, and that’s a shame.

Hubby and I are in our mid-40s, and my bestie is in her 50s… we all game together. Like several others mentioned, I’m a Pong veteran as well. Then I started playing DnD when I was around 7 with my older brother and his friends. I’m not sure there has ever been a time in my life, since I was about 4, that I wasn’t a gamer… tabletop, video or otherwise.

I’m not sure when I’ll get “too old for gaming”… maybe 6 months after I’m planted in the ground? Yeah, I’ll consider it at that point.

I wish that they had more smaller zoom increments,
like when you zoom in and out,
have more variety in ranges, from the minimum to zoomed out,
with each turn of the mouse wheel

Just a suggestion – try using a trackball mouse. My husband and I both use trackballs, and one of the things I love is being able to fine-tune my zoom, especially for screenshots.

The game will only prompt you for the code if you’re logging into the game from a different/new IP address. So if you normally only log in from home, you won’t get a prompt. But if you try and log in at a friend’s house, you’ll be prompted.

Adding Infusion Soulbinds Ascended Backpack?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Airala.8629

I seem to be confused…

My understanding was that Ascended items would now be account bound rather than soulbound. I just upgraded my Spinal Blades backpack to Ascended… but if I go to apply an infusion, it tells me that doing so will soulbind the item.

Is this a glitch or is it working as intended? Did I misunderstand how this new setup with Ascended gear being account bound, works?

Can someone point me in the direction of where clarification on this might be found?

Thanks!

Leveling is the worst it's been

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Airala.8629

I’m not sure if anyone has suggested this or not, but my advice to those trying to level is to try out Edge of the Mists (open the WvW pane, and EotM is on the right). PLEASE hear me out before you decide EotM isn’t for you…

I’m a PvE gal. I don’t like PvP, and WvW gets a little too intense for me (commanders yelling “STACK STACK STACK” on TS, etc. LOL). I also find WvW confusing because people seem to use a lot of shorthand to give instructions, directions, all that sort of thing and so I end up feeling frustrated and lost.

I thought EotM was more of the same, or some weird glorified PvP. I definitely KNEW it wasn’t for me.

I have 9 toons, 2 of which were 80s, 7 of which were 20s thanks to tomes and/or crafting. I really wanted those leveled before the patch, so I spent a huge amount of time (and gold) leveling them… and then realizing that they all stalled out around 70 with no more crafting left to do besides Ascended, which I couldn’t afford.

Then my bestie talked me into trying EotM with her. I…was…hooked.

It’s a massive zerg fest. You map in, look for the Commander tag (looks like a little blue Dorito LOL) and run to the zerg. Or if you stand around near where you enter, the zerg will eventually come back to the waypoint and you can join it then. Just take whatever ranged weapon your toon can use and do something for a speed boost – look on the Wiki to find out what traits or unique skills or even weapon skill will get you going a bit faster… but for the most part, so long as you’re sticking near the main mob, people are casting speed boosts non-stop.

With very few exceptions (zergs that are after “bags” – meaning, they’re specifically seeking out enemy players to kill because they drop loot bags), the combat is entirely against NPCs, which the zergs EASILY take down. By using ranged, you keep out of most of the mess, and you really only need to get a few hits in to get credit for the Event (they’re ALL events) and thus a few thousand XP each time.

I took every one of my 70’ish toons up to 80 with just a few hours in EotM… and made a fat profit off the deal as well, which I really needed since I’d spent so much on crafting. LOL I’m getting tons of materials, and a lot of rares (for ectos). I’ve even gotten a few Exotics, which are now going towards gearing up all my shiny new 80s.

The only profession that didn’t get leveled this way was ele, because that’s my main and I only had one of those. I have two mesmers, but one of them was my other 80.

You aren’t going to do a lot of damage/see big numbers BUT YOU DON’T HAVE TO. You just have to tag the NPCs with a few hits to get full credit for the event… set your #1 skill to auto-cast and you’re golden.

Use whatever boosts to XP & Karma you might have. You’re also going to be earning achievements and WvW ranks, which award Tomes of Knowledge here and there… nice to use for those last few levels.

And if you’re confused by anything, just ask in Map/Say/Team chat. Someone will tell you what you need to know. The people are usually quite helpful!

If you map in and don’t see a Commander (blue Dorito) showing up on the map, leave the EotM and try coming back. There are several overflows, and a few times going in and out should eventually get you on a map with a Commander.

and you want me to be positive when the only content anet been adding for months is aimed at people that play 2h per week? How exactly you want to be positive about nerfs and their crappy LS thingy as their main focus the only new content provided every patch? If you seriously enjoy their juicy nerfs/dat LS or tell yourself ‘its great content’ then good for you, enjoy. I’m looking for something more complicated than break pinatas and talk to 15 pcs for a 15 points achievement, sorry to disappoint.

Actually, I don’t “want” you to do anything. I simply find it curious that you’re insulting players who choose to buy something in the cash shop, which you apparently feel is a waste of money… but instead of spending your TIME playing a different game you enjoy, you waste it making 46 pages worth of posts – complaining – for the last 10 months.

New keyboard

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Airala.8629

Airala.8629

I have a Logitech G110 keyboard which has the macro keys down the left side.

Mine are programed to do the following:
1 keys my mic for TS
4 are used to switch Attunements (I’m an ele, I have my F1-F4 Attunements actually keybound to my number pad, and then those number pad keys bound to four of the macro keys)
1 activates my healing skill
1 is for AoE loot
1 is for “drop bundle”

Why are mine bound this way? Because of limitations with my hands, I try to limit how much I have to move my fingers while playing. I move my toon with my mouse (trackball), and dodge/jump with my back/forward buttons on my mouse. I use the F- keys for my weapon skills, utility skills & elite skills. It’s easier for my fingers to navigate those without accidentally also pressing something else. And I can change my attunements (or heal, or activate my mic, drop a STUPID BANNER, AoE loot, etc.) just by moving my pinky.

All of this is permissible under the TOS/EULA – one key, one action rule. And all of this makes a macro-enabled keyboard worth having (for me), and still legal in the ANet universe.

Why cater to casuals?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Airala.8629

Airala.8629

Casuals are actually more likely to still be playing the same game 6 months, 12 months, 2 years, etc. down the line. They’re the ones that end up being the long-term bread and butter of a developer… the ones who are still spending money on in-game stores long after the flash and interest of launch has passed. They may only log in a few hours a week, but 100+ weeks out, they’re still logging in… they’re still buying mini sets and clothes off the cash shop, etc.

Hardcore players play in short, intense bursts… and are gone as soon as they achieve whatever goal (like obtaining a legendary) they’ve set for themselves. They’re less likely to rely on cash shop transactions beyond meeting initial needs early on (like buying gems to sell for an initial gold stash). They have a particular idea of what it means – to them – to “beat” the game, and once that is accomplished, they’re gone. They’re also unlikely to be lured back into playing outside of major expansions that they again come back to “beat” and then are gone.

Hardcore players are also the ones least likely to take a long view of whatever changes to the game the dev enacts. They’re the ones most likely to pack up their toys and go home in a rage over anything they perceive as impacting their (very short-term) goal of “beating” the game, regardless of whether the change is good for the longevity of the game. They’re not concerned with whether that change is necessary to keep the game relevant in a year… they’re concerned with whether it means it might take them another 2 hours to “beat” the game.

This is why MMOs cater to the casuals… because the casuals’ source of enjoyment isn’t heavily based on “winning fast” and moving on to something else they can “beat”.

I went to the invasion zone as stated on my event reminder, ‘Blazeridge Steppes’. Only there was no invasion in Blazeridge Steppes. I was placed in an overflow and COULD NOT COMPLETE THE CONTENT.

Do you understand?

Let me try and explain –
The content you need to complete begins every hour, on the hour. Because there are so many thousands of people playing, overflow servers become necessary. Any overflow server created more than ten minutes AFTER the hour (9 o’clock, 10 o’clock, 11 o’clock, etc.) will not have the event running on it. The reason for this is because the event itself takes 45 minutes. So an overflow that is created at 9:09.59 (H/M/S) isn’t going to end until 9:54:59 – then there is a 5 minute “rest” while the servers reset.

So at the top of the hour, you look at the upper right side of your screen to find out what map the event is happening in (Gendarran Fields, Lornar’s Pass, whatever). In order to participate, you must go to that map BEFORE 10 minutes past the hour. If you go to the map after 10 minutes past the hour, you’ll have to wait until the top of the next hour and go wherever the prompt in the upper right corner tells you – again, before 10 minutes past the next hour.

So – 9:00-9:10, you’re golden. 9:11-9:59, you’ve missed out until 10:00. 10:00-10:10, you’re golden. 10:11-10:59, you’ve missed out until 11:00. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Yeah, living story, got that. Been helping refuges for days. Time to move on dont you think?

This isn’t an event like Lost Shores or the holiday events… this is essentially an evolving expansion, with new things to discover being added slowly. It’s an arcing story line designed to go on for months. Not a bunch of brief content meant for you to get through in a few days. I think the blog post I linked to explains it quite well… what is so difficult to understand? This isn’t the type of new content that’s going to be flooded in over a couple of days.

You can also do this with Keepass as well. Keepass also keeps a history of your previously used passwords, and when set up right, can auto-enter the username/password with a single key combination, a feature I find pretty useful.

That’s great to know, thank you!

When FIL was having such trouble with KeePass (and I didn’t have a lot of free time at the time to help him learn it), I switched us both to RoboForm… so that’s the only one I’m really familiar with at this point. I’ll be taking a much closer look at KeePass now – it may be that I’ll switch back when my RoboForm license expires. I was always very satisfied with it, it just seemed easier to have us using the same software so I could help him with any difficulties. I doubt Dad’ll be switching… “old dogs” & new tricks, not such a great combination apparently. LOL

My constant willingness to help him with his PC is probably why he’s been telling me for years that I am “the best daughter-in-law ever born.” LMAO

I know several people have mentioned KeePass. There’s also RoboForm. You do have to buy RoboForm, it’s not freeware, but it comes with a lot of good features and is a bit more straightforward for those who may not be even remotely computer savvy. My father-in-law, an otherwise brilliant professor, had a lot of difficulty getting KeePass to work for him – he didn’t find it as intuitive as he’d like. RoboForm fit the bill for him – he particularly likes the “safe notes” feature and the fact that he can add additional information to each Passcard such as answers to security questions.

But again, RoboForm isn’t freeware (or open source) like KeePass is, so that’s certainly something to keep in mind if you’re looking for password software. Either way, both options definitely make it MUCH easier to have different logins for every site and game without having to try and remember them all.

that makes me strongly suspect anet might have had their databased accessed. this is both annoying and worrisome.

Then you haven’t been paying attention.

ANet began tracking the passwords being attempted during unauthorized account access attempts some months back after Blizzard’s database was compromised. From this, they’ve built a database of passwords they know are compromised and/or being tried by those who want to access someone else’s account.

This password change is forcing people to choose passwords that do NOT show up in the database of potentially compromised passwords that they’ve amassed.

Incidentally, in regards to other comments, this also means that if the individual seeking to compromise accounts is using software that varies the password by a character or a few characters, (password1, password2, etc.), the database will reject an attempt by a rightful owner to change their password in such an easily compromised manner.

Will this completely stop accounts from being compromised? Unlikely – people continue to be amazingly stupid about their choices when it comes to account security, and there will inevitably be someone who changes their password here… and promptly goes to every forum & game & social networking site they use and change all those passwords to the new one they selected for here. But that’s on them. They’ve chosen to essentially stick a big flashing neon sign out there that says “HERE’S MY PASSWORD!!!”

I’m just saying play the game how you ENJOY the game, don’t force yourself to grind things you don’t like, don’t set yourself a goal that you know you’re going to hate doing.

So Nibiru – does this philosophy of yours only extend to those who choose to play the game in a manner you approve of? Because it seems to be a stark contradiction to the way you have repeatedly insulted people who are playing the game the way they enjoy it when it comes to this thread.

Let’s see – apparently only “KIDS” do this. I’m in my 40s – I’d have done it if I’d thought of it. Kudos to those smart enough to come up with a creative way to meet this particular daily. I suspect the atmosphere among those suiciding/rezzing was probably much like the day about 150 of us spontaneously began jumping to our deaths in Wayfarer Foothills during the Beta Finale. Sorry I missed it.

Sorry but there is nothing smart about it at all, it’s a solution only someone with very low IQ would come up with, any normal player would have completed the rezzing daily less than a hour with NORMAL playing.

As for killing NPC so that they can rez them, why should people not complete let say guard events because one person wants the NPC dead, i would protect him if that was me.

This is what I mean by KIDS, this was yesterday in Orr, so yes it does affect others when these players start spamming crap, its rude and shows there age.

You have quite the powerful need to insult people who have a different worldview than you, don’t you?

My husband only spends between 15-30 minutes playing on weekdays. He focuses on getting his dailies done during that time. Now, considering that he designs, programs and builds industrial robots for a living… I’m highly amused by your assertion that “it’s a solution only someone with very low IQ would come up with…” since it is certainly a solution he might have dreamed up. According to you, an economical use of what time he has is somehow LESS intelligent than rolling the dice hoping he can meet the daily requirements by simply wandering blindly in the hopes he’ll encounter everyone/everything he needs in a very limited amount of time.

Truly – your passion about how other people play is BAFFLING.

What is it that you find so personally damaging about how another adult chooses to allocate the time they have? How did those people jumping off that cliff bring harm to you? How did they impact your time playing? What did they steal from you? What harm did they cause you? I mean, I have to assume that if you feel the need to degrade them, those jumpers/rezzers MUST have done something to you personally, right?

It can’t possibly be that you are so incredibly immature that you have the need to convince yourself that you are somehow superior to thousands of other nameless, faceless people playing a game they paid for in a manner which suits them best… can it?

So you people go out of your way to actively attempt to complete the daily like this? It just happens to me. What shocks me is that after this I wouldn’t be surprised if you think something like “Oh, got my daily done, time to do a dungeon!” at which point you would have gotten the achivement anyway.

It confuses me most of all at the people going to special places to get the evasion daily. You know what you can get the evasion daily off? Anything that can attack. Do you know what attacks? Everything in the kittening game asdf

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you that in my entire time playing, I have done exactly one dungeon. Once.

I get my dailies done quickly, in Queensdale or Wayfarer, because they mentally “nag” at me if I don’t. I know that in either of those two places I not only know where to go for the events and such I need, but I can get them finished quickly.

Want to know what I do after that? I go back to whatever area I am currently completing to 100%. My current area is Fireheart Rise. I have done every single area “below” that, level-wise. Making my way through the entire world, slowly, was important to MY enjoyment of the game. I have not been to Orr or the Cursed Shore or wherever else it is that so many others are doing their thing.

My husband is doing the same thing with regards to map completion. When it comes to the dailies, he logs on at night just long enough to get them done as quickly as possible. He has other things he wants to spend his time on… but he obviously wants to earn the rewards for the dailies, even though the only chance he has to play at any length is on the weekends. So on week days, he does as I do – quickly knocks them out of the way in Wayfarer. Also like me, he’s done one dungeon. Once.

Perhaps you might revisit your assumptions about why people choose how to play THEIR game and spend THEIR time. Unless they’re trying to force you to do as they do, I can’t imagine why you would care.

Wow. Reading this thread, the mind just boggles… who’d have thought that players finding an amusing way of getting one of their dailies would elicit such rude responses.

What else? Oh yes – this daily is apparently making people play the game in a way ANet didn’t intend. Strange, I could have sworn that ANet was designing a game players could play their own way. Not whatever way you find acceptable, appropriate, fun, enjoyable (or whatever) for THEM to play. Why on earth do you care how someone else is spending their in-game time? If they’re finding it more fun to take turns suiciding and rezzing, or to wait for NPCs to die, why does this matter to you? I mean, I’d have told the one guy to go fly a kite if he’d complained that I ‘saved’ the NPC he was going to farm for rez’s… but otherwise, WHY are you so concerned with how someone else meets their daily requirement?

People are having fun… they’re not exploiting the game… they’re playing it in a manner they enjoy.

I typically run around either Queensdale or Wayfarer Foothills with my lvl80 ele to get my dailies. Why? Because of my personality type… or maybe my OCD… or maybe a combination of the two. Having those “in progress” is a major distraction for me. I know they’re there, I know they’re in a state of “undoneness,” and I know that I can knock them out in about 15 minutes if I just pop into a starter area. Then they’re done, and I’m not getting a somewhat stressful zing every time the little announcement pops up on the right letting me know I’ve progressed a bit more. It’s my game that I paid for… getting those out of the way allows me to then resume my normal game play and enjoy myself without feeling like they’re hanging over my head. That’s the choice I’ve made for what is the best use of MY time when playing MY game.

Why should how someone else chooses to allocate their playing time be so problematic for some of you?

Slots 1-5, I'm seriously baffled.

In GW1 I ended up getting every elite and every normal skill available. I used maybe 20 of them. Ok, 25 if you count the ones I’d toss on specifically for things like Vaettir farming and otherwise never use.

As an Elementalist in GW2, I may be limited to five skills per attunement & weapon combo (Staff, scepter/dagger, dagger/dagger, scepter/focus, dagger/focus x 4 attunements = 60 skills), but I actually use them. All of them. I switch attunements in the midst of combat and even have various skill chains I that start in one attunement and end in another that are very, very effective.

That’s without counting my utilities or elites – which I rarely end up using (except my heal which I have auto-casting).

That’s also without counting the additional bonuses and effects I have firing based on how I allotted my points – like the fact that with my heal auto-casting, I essentially have an endless 33% speed boost whenever I’m attuned to air and usually for a full 60 seconds after I leave air.

My point being – I end up using one heck of a lot more of the skills available to me under this system than I ever did with the near endless pool of skill combos available in GW1 – and as an added bonus, I’m effective when playing my own class… I don’t have to essentially pretend to be a Ritualist just to survive harder areas or to farm. I can do it as the class I actually CHOSE to play. Imagine that.

It’s ok if you don’t like the system… it’s ok if it isn’t enjoyable to you… but for others, it’s working out to be a great deal more fun than GW1’s system was.

Different strokes for different folks.

So reading another thread, it seems like some players are still seeing the dailies from yesterday, rather than today – however, from what others are reporting, completing the dailies listed in their Hero panel won’t actually progress them.

Players with this problem are instead “blindly” doing the actual requirements for today – and that is earning them the chest while doing the ones listed (underwater combat, combos, etc.) does not.

So give that a try –
5 events
10 instances where you heal a player/NPC ally
13 varieties of enemies
15 attacks successfully dodged
20 gatherings

If you’re not progressing, try doing these and see if that works as other players are reporting.

Rawhide Leather Strap with Quaggan backpack?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

When I bought my Quaggan backpack from the gem store last night, it told me to double-click on it to open it, which I did. That gave me two other items –
The first was an equippable Rawhide Leather Strap. It has no stats, it doesn’t show up on my character’s back, I have no idea what it is or what I’m supposed to do with it.
The second was an item that told me to double-click it to apply it to a backpack – so basically, a skin. If I attempted to preview that item, nothing would show up on my back in the preview pane. But that was ok – I double clicked that and applied it to a lvl 80 guild backpack and my level 80 Asuran is happily running around with her (somewhat small) Quaggan backpack flopping on her back – she’s happy.

But my understanding had been that we’d receive both a skin AND a no-level backpack, both Quaggan. Now I may have been mistaken – very possible – but what is this equippable rawhide leather strap that has no stats or appearance or anything?!

Which is the more likely scenario?:

a) ANet, with millions of accounts, has been compromised – but less than .001% of those millions of accounts have someone attempting to access them. And despite a multitude of laws that would severely penalize them if they tried to cover up a compromise, they are falsely pleading innocence.

b) Some random user hasn’t been smart about his/her account security and opened the door wide for nefarious individuals to compromise his/her account.

Gosh, what a tough call that is…

Would you support a total reset?

No. And I can’t think of anything that would sway me to view it as a good idea.

There are better ways of cleaning up after bots and balancing the economy that don’t punish your regular players. And I have very little sympathy for people with compromised accounts – I’m not going to agree to be penalized because they couldn’t be bothered to practice the most basic internet security protocols.

This was not scheduled as can be seen by the lack of patch notes and no in game warnings 1 hour, 30 min, 15 min, and 5 min from patch time. And by the lack of information about it on the dev forums.

You mean the patch notes that have been in the News section for the last 40 minutes or so?

Gem store about buying items without my aproval?

I’m thinking this may not be an issue of accounts compromised:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Gem-Store-items-I-didn-t-order/first#post357288

I suggested to my husband (Karina.2341 above) that perhaps he had inadvertently double clicked on the “buy” button in his recent purchases list before logging off the previous night, since there really was no other indication that his account had in any way been compromised. But now I’m starting to think the one poster in the other thread may have nailed it… and this is somehow the system catching up with previous purchase attempt(s) that may have failed in the past.

That makes some sense to me.

Will the game ever be mod compatable?

I know we used TexMod in GW1, like for doing the Cartographer title… and while it wasn’t officially supported, and as far as I know ANet never specifically said it was ok, I also didn’t hear that anyone was banned for using it. And TexMod was used in the game for years.

But my understanding is that the way the client for GW2 functions is quite different from how GW1 did… and I thought I understood that that kind of client-side overlay was no longer possible. I’m very uninformed in that regard, however – and my motto is to always err on the side of caution with things like this.

Elementalist tips, tricks and combos compilation.

I’m not very “build savvy” but these two tips work well for me -

Situation First one is for an unlimited 33% speed boost -

Explanation Spec 20 into your Air Trait & pick Quick Glyphs & Inscription as your Trait skills. Use Glyph of Elemental Harmony as your heal, and set it to auto-attack. The heal will cool-down a few seconds faster than the speed boost, and the speed boost stacks up to 1m+ (no idea for sure how much more since no matter how long this runs, the speed boon icon only shows 1m once you reach 60 seconds or more).

This is great for explorer types like me… it allows me to move quickittenhrough zones or cities, and thanks to the auto-cast, I don’t have to remember to hit my heal every 20 seconds.

Situation S/D for PvE
This is great for one or two targets. It also deals a nice initial package of damage to a Veteran if you’re solo’ing.

Explanation You’ll want Arcane Wave as one of your utilities. I also usually have Glyph of Elementals as my elite when running this. It’s nice to have the added backup, particularly since I can jump into Water & get an assist that both heals & deals damage.

Start in Air. Cast 3 & 4 (Blinding Flash & Ride the Lightening).

Switch to Fire. Cast 4…2…3 (Ring of Fire, Dragon’s Tooth, Phoenix) and Arcane Wave.

Most of the time, my target is dead at this point, or I can finish them off with a couple of 1’s and a 5 (Flamestrike & Fire Grab).

If I’m dealing with a Veteran, or if I think I can’t quickly finish them off with 5 & 1, I’ll usually cast Glyph of Elementals at this point, then I switch back to Air again – and cast 5 (Updraft) to get some breathing room/time to cast a heal if I need it, and then I start the chain again with 3 & 4 and then back to Fire.

If I think I need to, or if I still need time for the swapping penalty to finish cooling down on Air, I’ll pop over to Water or Earth for some healing or bleeding damage after finishing with Fire and before popping back into Air – but that’s entirely situational, and I rarely have real cause to do it.

Note: this chain does not work well on 2-or-more Ettins or Dredge. I haven’t quite figured out why yet, but those two foes are the bane of my existence no matter what I wield or do. LOL
_______________________________________

I have no trouble running the above S/D chain while having 20 spec’d into Air. I also have 20 spec’d into Fire & Arcane, with 10 into Water. I’ve been running this chain since I was about level 40 (I’m 80 now), so it works irrespective of your Traits. I have decided that I’m going to try dropping 10 from Fire (Fire was, I should mention, the last one I brought up to 20…so I ran this with only 10 in Fire for quite a while) and putting it into Arcane so I can get my swapping cooldown dropped to the minimum amount possible.

A large portion of taxes goes towards rehabilitating those who are addicted to dye.

It all started out so innocently, I dabbled with Fluff and Mist, but before I knew it I was using Midnight Ice like it was water… Now I’m just drowning in the Abyss.

I’m still wandering aimlessly in the Fog, wishing for a nice glass of Wine to brace me up. I think it may be near to Evening time, though I can no longer see the face of my Gold timepiece. I long so much to be able to see the Starry Night… my face feels Flush with the exertion of my endless journey. I maintain my sense of Pride in my ability to overcome any obstacle, however… I will not suffer the Humiliation of defeat!

SilverRule, something else to keep in mind – any time you list something for sale, there is a listing fee as SpyderArachnid mentioned above. You have to pay that listing fee up front. If you don’t have enough on your toon to cover it, the TP will not let you list the item. Once the item sells, you visit a TP NPC to pick up your profits, which will be 10% less than the sale price as there is a “tax” charged on the sale.

So let’s say you want to sell that yellow dye for 1 silver. You must have 5 copper on your toon in order to put it up for sale. The system will take that 5 copper from you and the item will disappear from your inventory and instead appear on the TP.

When another player buys your dye for 1 silver, you will see 90 copper listed on the last tab of the BLTP screen. So all total, it will cost you 15 copper to receive 90 copper for your dye.

Someone has to rebuild all those pumping stations you let get blown up, all the dams you let get destroyed, all those crops you let burn, all those keeps you let get sieged, all those swamps you let get polluted by the Risen, not to mention the EPA-nightmare of the Scar that still needs to be cleaned up after you utterly failed to stop that overgrown purple and black lizard from rising… we know you were too busy playing Super Mario Brothers in the sky over Metrica Province (not to mention all that drunken brawling you did with those gianormous bookahs to the north) to actually do your job, “hero.”

So now you have to pay the piper to fix all that stuff you let get broke.

Don’t worry, we’ve got a fleet of siege golems on standby to repossess your Home Instance (not to mention all the pretty armor & weapons we know you bought on credit) when you fail to pay up.

PSA: Stop hounding Anet about bots

Actually it looks to me like you are failing to read any replies to you and actually understand them.

No one implied that direct in game ban hammers was the only solution, nor the long-term solution. It is merely a way to mitigate damage while working on the longer term solutions (automatic stuff).

Also, calling someone out on the forum for their personal information is not only against forum etiquette but also poor form.

Wait – I’m failing to read replies & to understand them?

Then perhaps you can show me where I said that ANet would be able to stop the bots with a program. Because I’ve asked soulwatcher to show me where I said that repeatedly… and instead I get random replies that don’t seem to relate to any of what I actually wrote.

Also, according to soulwatcher, the only effective way to get rid of bots is with human bot banning teams. That seems to be in conflict with your claim about what others have/have not implied.

If people are going to advocate that their preferred course of action is better/more effective than whatever ANet is doing, then yes, I DO expect them to back up such a claim with some sort of professional credentials that lend credence and authority to their position. If someone wants to armchair quarterback what the quarterback (ANet) should do, I’d like to know that they’ve actually held that pigskin themselves.

@Airala who said they would have to hunt for bots? I am sure Anet is flooded with bot reports! Perhaps they should wait to the vast majority of players quit and then run a system wide message nicely asking the botters to shut down. Pretty soon the damage done by bots will not be able to be reversed and then it will be too late!

I think you and I must be having two very different conversations with two entirely different people… that’s the only conclusion I can draw from the seemingly random and unrelated comments you keep directing my way.
