I do believe that their actions are serious, and I appreciate anet’s transparency. However, a permanent ban from pvp for people who only pvp is basically a perma-ban entirely, which seems contrary to anet’s usual banning philosophy. From what I understand, perma bans are almost never given out-bans are usually a 1-2 year-thing.
I’m speaking not to defend the actions of these players, but to ask why anet has taken a somewhat different and aggressive stance here. I implore Ben or another dev to elaborate on this decision further.
Maybe because Anet spent months working on this new tournament system only to have the FIRST monthly AT cheated by the top players they built this specific system for, for personal gain and greed. What they did was disrespectful and toxic and makes SPvP, something Anet has been trying to rebuild and promote, a joke.

It would not deter future buyers because the buyers are now only prevented from participating in pvp (which they did not participate in previously), they are pve-ers. In no way was their regular routine game play affected (aka pve and some wvw for pips). Slap on the wrist for the pve-ers. But better that something was done as opposed to nothing at all.
The buyers are down $400 each and I doubt they are getting there money back, Abjured did there job and got them first place, not their fault the buyers had likely never pvp’d before thus making it super obvious they paid someone to play for them.
Wow I commend anet for actually doing something, this should deter all future buyers trying to cheat monthly AT as well.
Literally unplayable
I’d like to know how far the accounts got in previous daily tournies that won todays monthly AT. Considering I’ve never seen any of those players before and having them possibly never win a finals in a daily AT to then winning the monthly would seem super sketchy and should be further proof for Anet that they paid for it.

As long as your punishments continue to be a slap on the wrist, people will continue to cheat your easy to cheat system.
Why would Arena Net not permanently ban people who are intentionally cheating/ breaking the ToS? Knowing those people will be back in a month or so is kind of disappointing
Because some the players doing this are streamers, what’s left of the pvp streaming community anyways.
This is what happens when you give limited titles to the top players, either ban them permanently or suspend not only the alt accounts but their main accounts as well for the remainder of the season. As long as the top spots get there own titles people will cheat/wintrade however necessary to get them because it makes the account more valuable. A few days suspension on an alt account to players trying to cheat limited titles is nothing, if anything it makes cheating more prevalent because it’s such a light punishment.

My duo que got knocked into a wall and had to character screen to get out, he too was banned from entering and given dishonored so we lost rating on a game that was a sure win. I’m unsure what there new system is because I’ve had games where pugs will dc but are still able to get back in. This happened about 3-4 days ago though, not this patch.
So HOTM is now getting a arena in the zone for people to fight, something I’ve never seen pvp players ask for because they just join dueling servers. Meanwhile guild hall still uses pve retal/confusion dmg since the start of the expansion and is considered complete garbage overall, this games a fracking joke.

People really underestimate the food part, even mango pies and +5%/3 utility makes quite a difference and are super cheap, can get the +5/3% utility for free with badges too.
Buy the exotic version, T3 requires no crafting so is cheap in comparison. If you don’t have the rank requirements then you better start farming.
If your following a certain commander and are in their squad, I suspect they would very much like you to be in teamspeak if they are using it, not all commanders do especially recent ones who are only interested in the new rewards. Obviously not everyone will be, some commanders like to try to bait out an enemy bomb or do a reverse veil, and if you don’t know they are planning that you’re at a disadvantage compared to the enemies zerg especially when in outnumbered fights. If your not following the commander but on the same map, then no teamspeak isn’t necessary, but it would be helpful to use mapchat to relay information on enemy numbers, location, and wall/gate %, especially now because most servers have map ques.
I don’t see a problem, they would prefer to bring something more useful which then allows you to do something else if you wish. Going into dungeons/fractals/raids you are expected to bring certain classes or builds and if you fail to meet the requirements you will be kicked from those as well. In WvW thieves are expected to do smaller objectives and depending on the ranger they can be support or dps, most commanders have no problem with support druids but a longbow ranger is a hindrance in large scale fights because 99% are garbage.
Because there aren’t other ways to spy, and it’s impossible to disable teamchat in the map. OS doesn’t need teamchat.
Changing OS in some way would likely lower que times in the borderlands. Just a suggestion Anet.
Was wondering when the pvers would come crying in here asking for it to be easier for them. Sorry, but you’ll get no sympathy here. WvW is finally getting something after being ignored for so long and pve getting everything. Suck it up and play actual wvw. Eotm is pve with the ability to kill other players, it is not WvW and shouldn’t get any rewards from WvW as far as i’m concerned.
You think that’s unfair? What’s unfair is PvE having exclusive access to legendary armor when WvW is the mode that would get the most out of having stat swapping armor. When we get a way to acquire legendary armor by only playing wvw, THEN and only then do you have any right to talk about what’s fair.
PvE’er huh? Lets see your WvW rank and list of EOTM achieves to compare. I bet you’ve done more EOTM then me and have a lower WvW rank.
Gonna have to vote no for a couple reasons. One, you don’t need it, it’s only a skin as you can get T2 which is also ascended and will be just fine for casual WvW players, they will have access to ascended armor that way. Two, it’s meant to keep players intested in WvW, something to strive for as well as reward players who have continued to play WvW even through the rough times with months on end of no content. Quite obvious anet made it rank 2000 to give something to the hardcore wvw’ers when the legendary backpiece is only rank 350 requirement.
Relax, once the initial hype dies down WvW will return to what it was before the patch. Rewards got buffed but not crazy enough to keep the PvE players interested for very long.

Simply asking for equality, Anet has contradicted themselves this patch by saying that WvW title was just for aesthetics in the past but now being higher rank means quicker rewards. And the fastest way to get those ranks have now been nerfed, EOTM use to give about twice as much WXP as it gives now.
It would be impossible to revert the ranks people earned in EOTM, only way would be to revert the nerfs and allow everyone the opportunity to rank up faster.

When the expansion launched, with it were nerfs to WXP gain in EOTM but the damage had already been done and tons of players, some whom don’t even know what stability is got easy Diamond ranks. Previously this wasn’t an issue because rank meant nothing but now that your WvW rank affects how many pips you get which also now affects reward bonuses in WvW it is now an issue. I’ve played WvW hardcore on and off for over 4 years and am only in the 3600’s, pre-EOTM nerf it would take less than 6 months to grind to 10k just as a comparison. Now that your WvW rank affects rewards level, EOTM should be unerfed to allow people who didn’t cheese WvW ranks in EOTM the opportunity to do so, so we are equally rewarded in the new Pip system. Posting my eotm achieves/wvw rank to show that had I played EOTM (instead of actual WvW, not k-train garbage) I would easily be rank 10k or at least diamond.

They shouldnt make it guestable… people would guest to avoid fighting for the Chest/Achievement/Guild Mission and that shouldnt be possible
They should rather make it work like Edge of the Mists so it is always populated
and GvGs can happen much easier without having to wait too long for the right server to be in the same matchup
Tiers matter less than ever now. When every server is within 150 glicko of each other you have T1 servers facing T4 nowadays. It could take several weeks to possibly months to face a guild you want to fight against, so no you’re wrong about having to wait too long.
Really hoping something gets changed that allows Cross tier GvG’s in this patch, it would be a miniscule change but have a huge impact. If not then unfortunately this will probably be the last WvW patch of the expansion. Guild hall arena’s were never fixed to balance retal, so if certain classes use burst into a group you’re literally killing yourself, such as blurred frenzy on mesmer, I use it as a defensive but can’t use it that way in OS or retal will kill me.
Were nearly 5 years into the game and GvG/fights scene don’t have what they truly want, and honestly it’s not that difficult to implement.

Make OS Great Again!
One of those cons is no longer relevant as Anet wants players and guilds to stick to a server or you will have a drastic decrease in rewards from the new pip system.
Now that WvW is finally getting some love again I thought I would revive this topic and add reasons as to why guesting to another servers OS should not only happen, but would bring new opportunities to the WvW scene. Since mega-servers were introduced ~3 years ago, the Guesting service has had no use in this game and has been redundant since, but by letting players be able to guest to another servers Obsidian Sanctum you would help rejuvenate the once thriving competitive WvW population.
Even when I wasn’t participating in GvG’s in OS, I use to go there back in the day to still watch them because I found them enjoyable. Guild hall arena’s are horribly implemented as being to small and current OS is a ghost town. Changing OS to guestable would fix all this and certainly bring new and old players back to the game.

MAKE OBSIDIAN SANCTUM GUESTABLE. Guesting to other servers has no place in this game anymore as cross map pve came out years ago, make guesting to OS to other tiers viable, you already removed loot from OS as well as warscore for killing players. Guild hall arenas are complete garbage and way to tiny to fight in and have been since day 1. Making OS guestable will reignite fight guilds passion to fight each other and allow the incoming pve players to not be harassed in ebg for taking up que spots. This would also allow friends from same server to fight each other to test builds and duel.

Legendary armor inc before end of expansion for wvw’ers, surprised they are releasing both tier 2 and 3 precursor armor this patch though, they must of been sitting on them for a while.
With Anet confirming that WvW is getting its own set of legendary armor before the end of the expansion, it raises a few questions. How will it be implemented is one of the main concerns and how long until the next expansion, we talking a year here? Many thought raiding legendary armor was going to be released with the expansion and that took a year and a half to finish. Regardless legendary armor in WvW is certainly needed.
You should definitely check out Mag if your looking for a friendly server, they have some of the best. And kD is from IOJ.

slower cast animation makes it much easier to dodge the incoming burst, dont like.
The power buffs are just to make it look like mesmer didn’t just get absolutely $h@t on this patch which we did. Power mesmer will never be viable this expansion, condi anything will $h@t all over it. Anet can say “hey we didn’t nerf mesmer completely!” but they are buffing a playstyle that won’t be competitive at all because it has no condi cleanse, and you sacrifice far too much as a power mesmer to go into inspiration, you might as well stay condi.

This greed is just disgusting. Players always want more and more. Some time ago reward tracks did not even exist AND we had fun playing WvW because of the game mode. If you want more rewards – play PvE.
And: There are enough buffs to fill the reward track faster. You get sieges, you get t3-6 material depending on your opening character, you get exotics and sometimes a pre (yes, I got flame of rodgort out of the track) and you get the currencies from the new maps without beeing forced to play PvE for your gear.
What else do you want?
It’s a free bonus. You should be happy about it.
So it’s only okay for pve players to complain about rewards being low? Fractals were the most profitable game-mode at the start of the expansion by far but tons of pve’rs still complained about it not being enough so anet buffed it and now your basically guaranteed a couple ascended crates a week minimum along with a ton of gold.
Now that legendary armor is finally complete Anet can start working on WvW development again!

15×8=120, but this is the first season we have been under these rules so anet could decide to add 9th week to the formula and completely kitten people which wouldn’t surprise me.
As primarily a solo que’r who plays mostly mesmer(also que necro if we have a ele on team), I’m not gonna be feeding points to players alt accounts again this season because they don’t wanna que on there mains. Also the fact that DH hard counters mesmer and warrior is almost as bad a matchup to me, impossible to fight on point against either and they usually take up 3-4 spots a team. Basically if your not solo que’ing as DH or warrrior don’t bother trying to push high unless your duo que.This seasons already over for me.
While your at it, please make it so guardian aegis can’t block it. It does no damage at all so it shouldn’t be considered a hit in that regard.
SPvP is dying around you, and you would rather talk about sigils… smh
Rewards were nerfed and DH barely touched, as a mesmer main I’m in no hurry to get kittened by double and triple DH teams all season again with my illusions dying instantly to traps. Think I’ll wait till the end of season this time to see how it goes if I’m still even playing by then.
I can easily handle a single DH by either portal plays or just beating them 1v1, but when there’s multiple DH’s pulling you in and out of traps, you only have so many dodges.

Tomes all the way, grinding pve maps to learn a class is a waste of time.
The more PvP you do, the more PvE you need. Awesome game.
For sPvP you don’t need any ascended gear.
It should not be possible at all to get it in that game mode.
Ascended gear should only be accessible in PvE and WvW.
Most people dont just play one game mode.
Fine but why should papers get a free ascended set while pvers have to invest hundreds of gold?
That’s a complete load of garbage, I ran fractals for a short while, and in that time I received enough ascended armor crates for 2 full sets of ascended armor and quite a few weapon crates as well. PvE has it so much easier in gold acquisition and ascended drops compared to both SPvP and WvW combined. WvW where ascended stats matter more than in any other game mode including pve raids, have to be acquired through a random miniscule droprate, they don’t drop every other day from our daily chests like in fractals.
So it would appear that you now need to complete the Byzantium chest a total of 18 times to get the same amount of shards(1200) that you would have gotten last season. Not sure how I feel about that but at least ascended shards of glory are now grindable and you get 20g every time you complete Byzantium. So if you complete it 18 times to get a full set of ascended armor, your also getting over 360g just from pvp’ing. Obviously no ones going to grind that in a day, it was ridiculous it was grindable in a day last season, so I guess this is a good change, not sure what the cost to make the new ascended armor is in crafting mats though.
Meanwhile mesmer’s have had the same exact builds(1) since season 2.
With over 70% of players picking old khylo in the poll it’s pretty clear people dislike the changes that were made, only thing is I wonder if anet will listen to or ignore the player base similar to how the wvw community was ignored regarding how bad desert BL was at the start of the expansion, which then resulted in massive amounts of wvw players quitting.
Vote here on which one you prefer pls. Currently it seems a overwhelming majority prefer Khylo to how it was and I think most of the disagreement is what you guys did to the clocktower.

I don’t like it personally, it feels smaller now and makes it harder to rotate because it’s so easy to see when someone tries to sneak out. The wooden ledge not being able to port/blink up to on one side while the other is fine sounds like a bug, even with that fixed the map just doesn’t feel right.
I feel opening up clocktower as much as they did makes this map feel smaller which will also make it easier to snowball. Khylo was already one of the smaller maps, now it’s just dumbed down as well. I think the primary reason as to why it was changed this way is because of thieves and DH’s ability to teleport instantly from outside bottom and being able to insta-gib someone without that person even seeing them.
