Quick question for all those informed. How well does superior rune of the Chronomancer stack up in PvE compared to similar power/precision runes? Would it do well in fractals for instance on ascended gear with assassin stats?
I feel terrible for those who are just getting into fractals. There is no WAY they can make ascended armor and get the materials they need to continuously do fractals with the crappy rewards system they introduced. You get more broke as you go forward so what happened to all the “better rewards” we were promised instead of this rng junk?
I must admit when I heard that fractal rewards were going to be buffed in HoT I was honestly excited but now that it is released and the details have been revealed my excitement turned to astonishment and horror. The fractal rewards system has turned back into another gold sink rng and that is just sadistic for Anet to do to us.
We were promised ways to break down our ascended rings and what do we get? Another kitting gold sink. So now it feels like we are losing money by farming in fractals instead of gaining what little cash we once did. This is sick and wrong and beyond comprehension. I don’t understand why Arenanet would do something like this when promising the world to us for fractals.
To make matters worse what little ways we had to make gold ie; dungeons has also been nerfed as promised by Anet. So what are we left with? Nothing but gold sinks with no way to actually make gold through dungeons or fractals.
I feel like I was ripped off my one hundred dollar purchase and now my favorite game has turned into a total rng wasteland.
Thanks for this build as it is the most amazing thing I have ever played. It takes skill along with the use of all skills which is so wonderful. One question I have though is would it be better to take assassins armor and trinkets over zerkers and also would superior rune of strength be more suited to this build over rune of the traveler?
Thanks again so much this is very fun yet at the same time skillful to play.
So as the topic suggests does anyone have a good Chronomancer PvE build at the moment?
FC has been fighting DR for a number of weeks now, and I can honestly say that GiT and AXME are much more respectable opponents than KYRO. Dark Jean has personally told me “she” is able to take us on 15 to 50, and it has since turned into quite the running joke on FC. The very night she mentioned this ridiculous statistic we held our weekly server event where we all get on WvW and run in a themed zerg depending on the week. So indeed this one night there were 50 of us, all on Necros and Mesmers I believe. We took much joy in making her rage quit into LA when she was trying to fight 50 FC members (most on uplevels and unfamiliar toons) with her zerg of about 20-25. 15 to 50 Indeed Dark Jean!
TMW we on FC wish you luck in finding a less toxic and pretentious server with more to offer than DR. As to the other WvW guilds in DR, I am sorry you have to tolerate a fellow WvW guild leader with such low respect for you and what you do. Just know that all other servers see Dark Jean for what “she” is and don’t hold it against the rest of you.
Lol i dont rage quit but my gw2 do crashes. FC rage quits and cry to me in whisper or here.. Stop trying FC you all are sooooo bad. Actually we laugh at your entire server…..
""MY DRAGON SAYS SO YUM FC!!! Fried Chickens""
Whenever FC feeds my dragon finisher so much
If FC sucks so much then how come they keep owning your kitten bum? So far out of all the weeks DR and FC have gone up against each other DR has not won once. Also perhaps you should work on your English grammar before coming and bragging about how good you are (which you’re not). :P

It would be awesome if there could be a 55hp Druid build. That would be so cool….. so cool….. snooze
“All this game has is Zerk, lame!”
Anet creates something different
“Y no dmg omg…”…
I had to LOL at this post as it speaks volumes of truth. Sorry but the amount of things that people can complain about is just absurd. First people complain constantly about the zerker meta and now that Anet has brought something different and the crying begins.
Perhaps people should try out the class and the expansion before going into a tangent about how the Druid does no damage. If I recall the Monk was one of the most sought after classes in GW1 and it seems that the Druid will now be the healing meta that all parties will need. You hear that Rangers? Parties will actually want you to come along cause you will actually be useful now.
On a side note I could just hear the Rangers cry if they do become the healing meta and then Anet reintroduces the Monk, then we would be hearing “Now the Monk is going to replace our Druid as a healing class and we have to go back to stupid damage? Anet you are efnefbsfbeif.” There is just no pleasing people sometimes.

Robert thank you so much for the changes here. There are a couple things that could be useful to make the Chronomancer perfect though.
1. Well of Eternity recharge rate may have been increased a bit too much to be a useful heal skill. It is great that the initial heal has now been increased and that each pulse now removes conditions which makes it a great alternative to the Ether signet, but could the recharge be changed to 25 seconds to make it more useful for groups in PvE?
2. I am kind of up in the air on the Gravity Well being changed again. It was great last beta but if it could be changed to pull, float, knockdown than that might be a bit more reasonable. As long as the initial pull is included in than it is a competent contender to Time Warp for us PvE players.
3. To avoid the iAvenger from getting destroyed immediately in battle would it be possible to change it to a melee that could leap to its enemy target much like the iSwordsman?
Most of these changes had already been mentioned but if these changes could indeed be incorporated into the Chronomancer than it would make the perfect main class to play for us Mesmers looking forward to Chronomancer PvE.
I like how you have taken consideration into all objective criticisms to make the Chronomancer amazing for everyone to play so please hear us out on these three final requests of the community who look forward to the final product.
Just mark my words, this arena size is to small to perform 15v15 or even 5v5 in there because you can simply static the other side… Minimum size should be higher then LF+static distance.
I respect your opinion.
Did you purposely neglect the video or statement that Absconditus posted just so you could prove how dense you are?
Without even playing HoT or knowing the details of the arenas available to guild halls you refuse to accept that there may be different sized and styled arena’s for accustomed pvp matches which could include 1v1 all the way up to 15v15.
You have knowingly made a bogus thread and that is why no one is paying attention to your absurd statements all because you tried to act smart here but miserably failed in your attempt. Perhaps you should’ve done a little research yourself beforehand.
Please, please, PLEASE change the elite skill of the chronomancer back to the gravitational pull per tick. For all the other elite specializations they seem very powerful and have an edge to them. Whether it be the might stacks on the reaper, the ranged crowed control on the dragon hunter, or the complete new class of the revenant the chronomancer seems to be lacking from all the other classes. I was really looking forward to the gravitational pull elite skill on the chonomancer and was highly disappointed that it has been removed. The mesmer has been my main class since I switched from the warrior for years but the change of the chonomancer and how it looked compared to how it looks now is absolutely disappointing.
Hey Talyn thanks for the quick reply. On a side note do you believe zerker or assassins armor is best suited to the guardian?
PS: Just wanted to add I am using sigil’s of force and accuracy on both my weapon sets. Thanks again.
Hey guardian peeps. I am currently on a learning curve back into the guardian class as while it was my starting that was back when the game began. Have a question for all you guardian players out there which I hope you could have a good answer to.
With the current damage meta I know that everyone always talks of going zerker but I decided to switch my armor up a bit for a little more survivability. From your expertize is guardian with celestial armor/runes of the pack along with zerker trinkets and weapons a good match for survivability along with a bit more damage?
Appreciate any constructive feedback.
Well this has been an interesting conversation to say the least for anyone who runs mesmer as a main. Thank you for your input Frifox you do know how to run the numbers I must say. Although I do have to agree with Xyonon that no matter how you look at it Eagle runes are better than Ranger runes when it comes to mesmers since the nerf. Once the transition to below 50% HP occurs no matter how you look at it the damage is better than rangers for sure. I too rune fractals consistently so scholars really would not apply to helping my damage output so in the end I will stick with assassins/eagle for now until a better rune becomes available for mesmer.
@Xyonon thank you for the information regarding the DNT build and Necromancers. I actually had no idea that they would try to manipulate the market like that and now I will inform a friend of mine who runs necro as a main that the DNT build is probably not the best option for him. It is sad that they would do something like that but at least all their other builds are viable.
On a side note I would also like to thank you for providing information about the sinister stat set on the engi. Although I don’t know how viable that build set would be for the mesmer for a variety of reasons the main being as you pointed out that on mesmer better crit damage = more bleeds = more condition damage. So while sinister is better for engi I still have this gut feeling that a mix would be best for mesmer but again I don’t have the numbers to back this up.
I again would like to thank both Xyonon and Frifox for taking the time to give us mesmers better insight into what builds deliver the best damage. I know it takes time to calculate numbers like this on spreadsheets so your time and effort is not wasted as it is all very insightful.
PS:
Frifox I hope there are no hard feelings as I find your information to be very insightful as well. I haven’t forgotten the assassins vs. zerkers debate we had and still look back at my miscalculations. I honestly didn’t want to believe I made the wrong ascended armor for my mesmer so was just trying to defend the zerker meta. Now that I have assassins ascended armor though there is no doubt that assassins is the best armor when it comes to mesmers. I hope you continue to do these calculations for the chronomancer when it is released.
@Silverkey, thanks so much for the encouragement of running a condition build. I would absolutely love to find out what type of build is the best for condition which I am seeing duelist as a viable option. I was hoping to find out the damage output from someone like Xyonon who knows how to run the numbers. I am assuming at this point that rampager armor along with sinister weapons, accessories + trinkets would be the best option but I have no evidence to support this theory.
@frifox, I didn’t mean any offense to DNT or Brazil. Their guild puts out some of the best builds for every class which is very helpful. I always have appreciated the time and effort they use to enlighten the GW2 base on which builds are best for DPS. All I was saying was why Brazil uses ranger runes instead of eagle runes. Some people don’t realize the nerf that has occurred to the ranger runes just a few months back, so even though Brazil recommends scholar runes in his video for those who have mesmer as a main there are a few things that would confuse the viewers which is why Xyonon’s post is so helpful.
1. Not everyone has assassin ascended trinkets, accessories, and back pieces thus they would not be seeing the same damage output with runes of the scholar.
2. While Brazil doesn’t necessarily recommend ranger runes outright he does make a statement that he personally uses ranger runes to obtain more reflect dps against foes such as Luppi. As mentioned before not everyone knows that the #6 buff on ranger runes no longer work for the Mesmer with or without a mini or clones. This would be very misleading to those who do not research the nerfs for each rune. I personally was unaware of the nerf to the ranger runes and was still using them because Brazil also used them on his own Mesmer. Once Xyonon did this post that is when I did the research and found that the ranger runes are no longer viable for the +7% damage output so I switched them for the eagle.
3. As Silverkey mentioned the eagle runes was started by Xyonon. So either you didn’t read the original post and just came in here to amass your own opinion, or you have a severe case of memory loss which in that case I feel sorry for you and hope you are getting medical treatment for it.
I am happy that Xyonon did this graph and brought to light the best dps option for those of us who use Mesmers as a main. I am sorry if you got frustrated by my comments about Brazil but I wish you didn’t take them so personally.
Hey Xyonon, thanks for that information. Currently I don’t have any assassin accessories or trinkets so I just went with the second option of assassin armor/eagle runes with zerker trinkets, accessories and weapons. It’s good to know that I had the availability of the second output for highest damage.
For the condition build it’s a shame that the damage is not as good as a power build as I was finding condition to be pretty fun. It would’ve been nice to get some sort of condition build going that would at least be on par with the assassins build.
I do have one more question for you though. The DNT build still uses ranger runes and is suggesting it to their viewers post patch. Now wasn’t the ranger runes nerfed when it comes to using minis for the +7% damage output? In fact I am pretty sure that it was proven clones do not give the damage increase either by a user on reddit, I assume that is the reason you suggested eagle runes on your chart. So why is DNT misleading their viewership to still utilize the ranger runes instead of eagle runes?
Thanks so much for your hard work on these stat calculations Xyonon. Though it would be really nice if you did one for condition damage for a few reasons. Condition damage as we all know has been buffed where some believe that it can actually be more viable than assassins in terms of the amount of damage accumulated. The fact that this theory is even debatable could call the attention that it would be nice to have facts to support this theory.
Now going by your charts that assassins armor/eagle runes mixed with berserker accessories and weapons outputs the most damage wouldn’t it be safe to assume the same would be said for condition stats? In other words a theory that I have is that going by your numbers the best stats for a condition Mesmer would be viewed as rampager/krait armor equipped with sinister weapons and trinkets. If I knew how to test this theory I would do it myself but it would be great if someone like you could view this against other stats such as full sinister, rampager, and other condition weapons and armor. Thanks again though for your hard work gone into this.
Also could you do this same chart with a condition build based on Ramapager and Sinister stats?
On your chart does the Assassins/Eagle account for berserk trinkets? Cause that appears to be the best DPS.
Its Seems that Any Traits works fine, as long as you use them proper. Dont go for Projects where its no needed, dont go Phantom dps wehere is many AoE, Dont Go heavy mantra dmg modifer when combat is fast(you will not be able to get full proc of it), Shatter IS an VIABLE OPTION, Mix of Cond/dmg/crit works fine as Bers duo to Conf buff and op Bleed stack (hi Iwarden)
Seems that strong build will be Utility Phantom 2 rotations, shatter Them, and summon again if there is time, Duo to -2s cd whenever you destroy 1 phantom
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgMBqAJ0Baw~
As weapons go either:
Sword/Pistol, Focus & Scepter/Pistol,Focus
As for stats Sinister or Bers should work fine, as Sigils Force & Bleed durationWE can also go full Sinister “Condition” with Staff and Scepter/Torch its able to stack nice amount of burning/bleed/confussion Still testing it. Also Scepter #3 is Aoe skill that works great on trash mobs.
Question, why did you choose Sinister’s and not Rampager’s? I notice mixed reactions on this forum about choosing sinister or rampager armor and I myself would like to know which is the better of the two. I want at least one condition ascended armor which right now I have Rabid but I would like to change that to either sinister or rampager but don’t know which to choose.
Hi
I first wanted to write a code to do the calculations for me (currently my code only gives me the stats + damage for each skill), but I ended up doing it manually with excel, so it takes more time and is less accurate :p
Sinister did not seem promising, the lack of crits reduced too much the amount of bleeds, which more than made up for the extra condition damage. Assassin why not, but I’m too lazy.
Else I used
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_S/S_/F_/P (except that I used berserker + ranger rune)
and
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_Dungeon_Hybrid
I did not put any food. I assume 25 mights, 25 vuln for the minor in domination (not for the overall damage, but just scale it by 25% for both condi and damage). No mantra for the hybrid, passive signets instead.I will most likely make my program and then everything will be accurate with maybe even food and I will be able to try more combinations.
This is to get a first idea only, I don’t pretend this is 100% accurate or relevant.
Question. I built a similar build such as this that I built on my own, however in the build I made instead of wielding a sword I wield a scepter/pistol. The question that I have is would a scepter work and also could the rampager’s armor be switched for sinister ascended armor?
This build is supposed to do pure damage along with condition damage. It is intended for long range combat which Mesmers are unique to. This build utilizes no sword but instead focuses on phantasms, torment, bleed, and great sword damage. The armor suggested would be full Sinister Ascended with weapons wielded as Scepter/Pistol, Greatsword.

I would like any suggestions on this build as I don’t usually make my own. If you feel it is a bad build feel free to comment and make suggestions but please be respectful in the process. I would appreciate any constructive feedback. Thanks in advance.
Revenant is more like a Dervish than Mesmer. Instead of using the Tyrian gods to buff themselves (better devised) they use the hero’s of the past. All it’s missing is the scythe and Anet would have another Dervish on their hands under a new name.
If you have a necro or ele you could transfer the armor to them then make assassins armor.
But generally speaking I would use it making armor for either a heavy or medium armor prof.
After all Assassins is an increase, but unless your super hardcore elitist I wouldn’t waste the materials.
I have an Ele that is full ascended celestial so maybe it would be better to transfer it over to that character. Other than that I haven’t really been to into my necro, neither of my mediums either. I was thinking of putting it on the new Revenant, but don’t know how beserker will work on that class which we know little about.
After running ascended beserkers armor on my Mesmer for so long, I have finally gathered enough materials to make ascended assassins.
However, without spending boat loads of highly expensive crafting materials I wanted to come to the Mesmer forums to ask is it still worth it to craft ascended assassins, or would it be better to use that material on other toons?
As a side note Mesmer is my main.
Did a poll on Cantha vs Elona and didn’t even spell Cantha right. Aside from that I would prefer Elona. Cantha while enjoyable and it would be great to be monks again it would still be better to go back to Elona.
Not only was the story more enjoyable in Elona but just the environment and characters were all deeper and made it more intriguing to get into. The dungeon’s were also amazing in Nightfall, so much better than anything we’ve gotten thus far. Also it would be amazing to get the Dervish back.
Altruistic Healing is pretty selfish and unnecessary sustain stuff in dungeons. Your utility bar seems pretty random. Apart from that you’re not too far off.
These are pretty much the 2 common builds for dungeons depending on how much utility you need. You can swap some utilities, traits and weapons depending on the encounter.

Thanks for the input Keksmuffin. I really like the second build you posted as that seems to produce the most damage output.
However, is it viable that I develop berserker armor or could I utilize the ascended Knight’s armor I already have? I had a lot of ascended toughness chests that I procured from my fractals run and thought it be best to suit on my guardian, I am now hoping I didn’t make a mistake in that assumption. So would the knights ascended fitted with runes of the scholar work almost just as well?
Hello all guardian’s. I am a mesmer/warrior player coming back to the guardian class, my first toon was a guardian and I would like to come back to this class as I have been working on its ascended gear.
The question that I have for the experienced guardian players here is if the build linked below is a good guardian build? Note that I normally do PvE stuff and rarely do WvW so this will be mainly for dungeons, fractals, etc. I hope I can get some input from you all, thanks.
Introducing Living story season 3! Now with more Scarlet back from the dead.
It is in full awareness on this forum and throughout the MMO community that GW2 is a broken game. What was a fun and casually played MMO has now become a mess through the use of disoriented updates that the user base never asked for nor deserved. Through much debate and complaints in the form of asking, begging, and trying to reach out for compromise the GW2 community has fallen on deaf ears of Anet’s developers.
Where has the support gone?
At this point everyone in this game should face the facts. The support that the players of GW2 believe they should get differ from the support Anet deems acceptable. All changes that Anet has made to the game has downgraded what had made it fun in the first place. Think back of how often Anet has listened to the user base and taken aback what they implemented to be unpopular with the community; trait system, dungeons, fractals, SAB, key farms, skill sets and more. Everything that once made GW2 fun and unique was extinguished by the constant updates which downgraded the uniqueness more than upgraded GW2 into what it could have been.
What was the user base expecting?
GW the first was an amazing game in my own opinion. Fans of the first were expecting to play a entertaining experience that was believed would be delivered the same support combined with the new and improved combat system in GW2. What was supposed to have been delivered was not through updates nor through the use of the living story DLC, etc. but instead through new world experiences of expansions which delivered whole new continents to explore with amazing story lines, a vast aline of new skills to test to mix and match into with an expansive line of new builds, a majority of new dungeons and perhaps fractals to explore, and a fresh experience that didn’t deliver on the same old “We have to kill the dragons over and over again” mentality. While some may enjoy GW2 living story it is not the experience that was promised to all of us in the beginning and the truth is every GW2 player is missing out on what could’ve been.
How to fix GW2?
Bottom line is to stop playing the game. No more complaints that fall on deaf ears of the Anet developers. No more begging and pleading for things to change for the better only instead to have the good parts of the game be taken away from us. GW2 is being downgraded into oblivion and the only way to wake Anet up is to stop supporting it in anyway shape or form. Do not buy Gems from the gem store, do not play into Anets consistent downgrades that they disguise as an “update.” Just stop playing the game in general. Stay away for a month, two months, however long it takes until we are promised the respect that the user base deserves. Don’t get trampled over and laughed at anymore by these devs that don’t care about your wants or desires.
For those who are absolutely dedicated to GW2 and claimed that Anet could do no wrong, for you I have this to say. I was just like you once, long after the guild I once had a blast playing with gave up on GW2 I kept coming back hoping that something new would come around that would bring them all back. I grinded daily’s, fractals, world bosses and dungeons day after day hoping for some big change that would be considered a game changer, but it never came. I tried other guilds but was always lost in the mix of the click so instead kept the everyday grind going. I spent well over $200.00 into the gem store of this game hoping my support would lead to some expansion but it was to no avail. Finally reality sunk in after Anet nerfed the key farm and I realized through an epiphany, Anet doesn’t care about its fans. That is the bold honest truth and you have to wake up to it.
Think of an analogy, you the players are a starving prisoner and Anet is your prison guard. You fear what is on the outside world because you feel safe in your prison cell that is GW2. The doors are open and you are free to leave but Anet comes along with cake crumbs and throw them at you every now and then. The prison guards say here, we are good to you and you don’t have to leave. This of course keeps you happier for a little while longer, but what you don’t realize is that those cake crumbs are coddled with a price that degrade your cell just a little bit and sometimes a lot more each time, and now what was once a luxury resort has become the prison you dwell in currently.
Maybe someday the epiphany will hit you as well as I know that my nor anyone else’s words can change the mind of a die hard fan, but to those who know and have their eyes open to what GW2 has become, please stop talking about it and take action until Anet fixes what they broke and delivers on something more than what is right now in GW2.
If there is any Norn that will break Jormag’s tooth, it will be Alpha Centauri the warrior.
Just a quick message for the devs, it would be great to have another Zodiiac armor sale. Haven’t had one for a while and I would like to purchase it with amount of gems I have currently.
I agree 100% with you op. I know there are the Anet yes men on here who would do anything Anet says, but the fact is you are speaking the truth. It has been two years and we had a piece of the map open, woohoo! This is like the scraps that Anet threw at us with Southsun, and that was a year after its release. Now we get the Massive expansion of Drytop two years after its release, while in about 40 years maybe we will get 40 new zones to explore, one for each year.
The more that the truth comes out the more it frustrates me, not just because this is how Anet is releasing the “New maps” but because there are actually people that support this type of behavior!
I also agree fully on the leveling up system. I have tried to bring new players to GW2 including my coworker, but it has become increasingly difficult to feel like I am telling them a lie due to the fact that the game has become a hazard to new players in general. My cousin quit because of the level up system and he just purchased the game a few weeks ago, I have a feeling the coworker I talked into buying GW2 will do the same. Leveling up used to be fun, and exploring was amazing but now leveling up is a drag and exploring is tedious.
The more that Anet works on the game the more they do wrong with it and the less fun it becomes. Yes they introduced the features that you pointed out which are good moves, but that doesn’t affect the overall content of the game. I would rather have the old transmutation stone feature back with the old leveling up system than the new wardrobe feature with the new leveling up system.
Why do people justify Anets excuse to the op’s worries. I think his concerns are legit and should be addressed. I have had all my friends quit GW2 because they never once obtained a precursor after years (literally) of playing. I obtained one precursor and that was from the mystic forge, but even I considered that a lucky drop knowing how I have not seen a precursor drop after constant play through of fractals, dungeons, and world bosses. Please stop justifying Anets drop rate for precursors and maybe Anet will fix it for those who aren’t lucky enough to find one, I am so sick of people saying just grind for gold, well sorry in GW2 gold doesn’t come easily as people make out, especially for the casual players.
I have been playing GW2 since it’s launch. I was in the head start and before that the beta. For the longest time GW was one of my favorite franchises, I earned enough points in GW to obtain all the HoM items and spent well over $300.00 within the GW2 gem store. The lore of the GW franchise is great and the reason I purchased and supported it for so long is because I was expecting Anet to do for GW2 what it did for GW and that would be to release amazing expansions with new lands to explore, dungeons to enter, raids to experience, and end game content to delve into. However, Anet did not nor has any intention to do this for their supportive user base. It seems every time Anet talks about upcoming features they take a step in the wrong direction.
I have had many guild members and friends quit GW2 already because they felt cheated out of the game, they too had played since the beginning and never once did a precursor drop for them, not once did they feel that the rewards of Guild Wars 2 were strong enough to keep playing for, and I am starting to think they were right. As much fun as GW2 is in gameplay, Anet always finds a way to make it more frustrating whether it be for new or old players. When my cousin started to play he logged in just a few days ago and quit immediately due to the new leveling system and how the story is now set up. It is abhorrent how new players will now have to reach level 10 just in order to start their story line, and for what? Because of key farming, well sorry to say Anet but some people don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend like I did on keys. You take out all the fun and return it in place of greed and you will lose your user base.
So new users are out of luck in GW2, and old users have not enough new content other than that “living story” which in my opinion is no where near enough and in all honesty quite dull and void of anything to look forward to in future content. It all comes back to Anet not putting out for their users and making a bad name for themselves in future releases. I went from a guild that was once over 150 users to a guild that is now void of any members showing up online, I have seen other larger guilds with similar results and this is because Anet is not supporting their game like they should and release real expansions with new end game content and stop making the game a dress up simulator with that dull living story as being considered “new material” for GW2.
Don’t worry, it will be “fixed” as intended in the next feature pack and that fix will be considered another “upgrade” for the mesmer class.
Seems like while other classes are getting buffed to outrageous extremes, the mesmer is stuck getting the raw end of the deal with fixes considered as buffs.
Maybe when GW2 draws to an end the mesmer will finally work as it should have intended before Anet broke it, but by then all other classes will be power house giants.
I just love how Anet developers are like “Look we fixed the mesmer with the iw working as intended, congrats mesmer’s that is one of your buffs.” We cheer and jeer due to the fact that it finally was considered fixed but it shouldn’t have been an upgrade, than that fix turns out to have another incandescent flaw.
You are correct, my math was off because I was using the larger number instead. After further calculation 15836/15052 = 1.052 when * by 100 = 105.2% the difference being 5.2%. I will conclude that you are correct in your math and that I just need more practice, it has been 3 years since my college algebra days so I am a bit rusty and thought the highest denominator was the main X and not the lowest.
It still doesn’t take away from my previous statement though that aside from CoE reflect I still don’t see much of a damage increase for assassins and in many cases zerkers does appear to be the better choice.
Your math is logically wrong and confusing at best.
How to calculate percentage of one number to another, a ratio (Y/X = P%):
Equation Y/X = P% is how to calculate a fraction to a percentage.
For example, how to solve for the percentage of one number to another:
15 is what percent 150? in equation form is 15/150 = P%
15/150 = 0.10
We now need to convert the decimal to an percentage so we end up with a percentage
Converting a decimal to a percentage we multiply by 100 and append a percentage sign to the result
Converting 0.10 to a percent; 0.10 = (0.10 * 100) = 10%
So, 15/150 = 10%
Or, 15 is 10% of 150
Combining the calculations you can get the formula for Y/X = ((Y/X) * 100)% = P% so 15/150 = ((15/150) * 100)% = 10%
With this formula we know that the max output of damage 15836 is X and subtracting the lower base damage 15053 from the base we get difference which is Y.
15836 – 15053 = 783
Next we divide Y from X (Y/X)
783/15836 = 0.049444
After that we times the decimal to 100 and that will give us the set percentage amount.
0.049444 * 100 = 4.94%
Y/X = ((Y/X) * 100)% = P% so 783/15836 = ((783/15836) * 100)% = 4.94% better with assassins.
So yes your math is wrong and at this point you are being confusing as well.
P2 Lupi shower reflect drops his HP by (6/4/0/0/4 | 6/4/0/4/0)
[Z/S] Feedback: 15.50% | Warden: 12.08%
[A/S] Feedback: 16.31% | Warden: 12.63% – less than 1% HP drop
[Z/R] Feedback: 16.00% | Warden: 12.73%
[A/R] Feedback: 16.79% | Warden: 13.28% – less than 1% HP drop
So unless you are hiding some secret formula that only you comprehend and grasp because you developed under the guise of a mathematician than your calculations are flawed at best.
Truly I am not trying to be disrespectful to you but I would appreciate it if you would just try not to argue with me for arguments sake. If you ask any math professor they would confirm my statistics to be accurate and correct. If you need further proof than I urge you to use google on how to convert a decimal into a percentage.

Apples to oranges, the amount of damage output that a zerker can produce over assassins is normally less than 1%. On the other hand the amount of reflect damage that ascended assassins armor can produce over zerkers is also less than 1%.
You might want to re-check that last one. It’s one thing to drop random statistics for the sake of an argument but to do it in a thread that has the exact data saying otherwise… :/
Party provides: 25 might/vuln, fury, disc and str banners
- [Z/S] 10,935 dps
- [A/S] 11,018 dps <—— 0.75% more
Mark T-B34RC3 reflected Ultra Beam (6/4/0/0/4)
- [Z/S] Feedback: 23,164 dmg
- [A/S] Feedback: 24,209 dmg <—— 4.32% more
Party provides: 0 might/vuln, no fury, no banners
Terminal DPS (6/4/0/0/4)
- [Z/S] 5,312 dps
- [A/S] 5,279 dps <—— 0.62% less
Mark T-B34RC3 reflected Ultra Beam (6/4/0/0/4)
- [Z/S] Feedback: 15,053 dmg
- [A/S] Feedback: 15,836 dmg <—— 4.94% more
Fixed your math percentage. Also while I do not wish to argue with you frifox as I know that you have put a lot of time and effort into your posts, the fact is that I don’t run CoE hardly ever and was referring to your Lupicus damage percentile ie:
P2 Lupi shower reflect drops his HP by (6/4/0/0/4 | 6/4/0/4/0)
[Z/S] Feedback: 15.50% | Warden: 12.08%
[A/S] Feedback: 16.31% | Warden: 12.63%
[Z/R] Feedback: 16.00% | Warden: 12.73%
[A/R] Feedback: 16.79% | Warden: 13.28%
P2 Lupi shower reflect drops his HP by (2/3/0/5/4)
[Z/S] Feedback: 13.30% | Warden: 13.25%
[A/S] Feedback: 14.00% | Warden: 13.86%
[Z/R] Feedback: 13.75% | Warden: 13.97%
[A/R] Feedback: 14.43% | Warden: 14.58%
Which states that my calculations were not incorrect that the reflect damage is less than 1% of what zerkers and assassins damage output is.
Not to mention I find it funny and intriguing that you actually decided to post the stats of scholar only runes to try and prove me wrong knowing that the percentage of damage between zerkers and assassins has an even less gap in your CoE numbers when equipped with ranger runes which has always been stated (even by you) to be the runes to run with.
At this point it seems as though that you are grasping at straws to try and prove assassins to be the better armor over zerkers.

Ah ha! So it does appear that zerkers is better than assassins for the most part, except during reflects of course. However, not every battle can attest to a reflect build so all in all it probably would be best to go zerkers.
Glad I chose zerkers over assassins for my ascended gear.
It appear zerk do exactly same dmg as sin, outside reflecting where sin win over zerk

Preferably the ball is in zerkers favor due to the fact that not every enemy has projectiles that can be reflected. It really is all a matter of preference though as I just believe that the numbers show that zerkers can easily produce as much damage as assassins and in some cases more so.

Are you trying to insinuate at this point that knights could be better than zerkers? Or is assassins still the best?
Also judging by what you have just posted could it be that a rabids condition build may have a higher damage output than power builds? That would be wild.
Hello all, it has been a while since I played my guardian but I would like to get back into the class as it being my first. Question I have for the experienced guardian players in this forum is what will be the most useful ascended armor for the guardian class?
Personally I was thinking of going celestial as I don’t believe a damage dealing zerker guardian would fair too well. Is there anything better for healing/support? Input requested.
Thanks for the quick response frifox, I trust your judgement and will stick with superior rune of the ranger.
This board has been really helpful for mesmers on what armor and equipment to get. Currently I have an all ascended berserker (yes I didn’t go assassin) mesmer which is in need of the right runes. I started out with scholar thinking that would be the best for damage, than after reading on this board it turned out that precision was needed more than power so ranger turned out to be better. However, now I have come across a mix between Ranger and Scholar which sacrifices on ferocity.
Superior rune of the Pack seems to be a better rune option for the mesmer which adds to both power and precision and as an added bonus has a 30% swiftness duration, and mesmer is one class that is in need of swiftness. I would like any opinions and number crunches as to if the Pack rune is a better more viable option in damage for the mesmer?
Please add thoughts and feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
Hello, I am looking to obtain ascended gear for my mesmer class, but I don’t know which armor stats to get. I would like to know from a long run perspective cause I know the class has been nerfed to the brink of extinction, but if Anet ever wakes up and decides to bring the mesmer into the glory it once was than what are the best stats to have?
I personally am leaning towards berserker, however, I hear assasins has become quite popular as well. Keep in mind this will be used on my elementalist as well so any insight would be extremely helpful.
Thanks in advance.
I have played GW2 since its release and out of all the dungeons, world bosses, mystic toilet flushes and temple farming not a single precursor dropped. It wasn’t until I decided to take a chance and throw the last 4 exotics I had down the mystic toilet before I got Dusk. However, it is a huge gamble using the mystic toilet as the drop rate for precursors is next to nil.
The precursor drop rate should go up to a margin where at least people can feel like if they work hard towards a legendary they will be rewarded in the end. It’s not fair to the likes of players who have spent over two years (I know some) who have worked to find a legendary and had no such luck, the people I know who have done just that gave up on GW2 due to the fact they didn’t feel rewarded for their hard work. I used to have a guild filled with members and now none of them come on anymore because GW2 is not rewarding, everything is focused on the gem store and now even prices are being reduced where you cannot earn gold unless you spend months farming dungeons or have luck enough to earn a few precursors to sell them on the TP.
In my opinion GW2 is unrewarding and unfair to many players whether they be hard core or casual, the sad thing is that people will now come on here and brag about all the legendary weapons they have. Yes, there are a few accounts that manage to have such luck where they have more than 4 or 5 legendary weapons, but those accounts are few and far between and they will all come to the defense of Anet and their poor excuse of a drop rate.
Well you then also made a mistake being not capitalistic (is that even a correct word) about it.
You wanted new content like maps and dungeons and so you put hundreds of dollars into the cash-shop. But the cash-shop does not give you any of that. So you helped to push them into the wrong direction. Then leaving leaving us with the mess. You see if you wanted that sort of stuff you should not have put money into the cash-shop but you should have both the content by buying an expansion (CE edition). Obviously that never came but if not enough people would have put money into the cash-shop pushing them towards more cash-shop focus we might have gotten an expansion.I did buy the CE edition of the hoping to be able to buy the CE edition of an expansion about a year later meanwhile making sure to not buy gems as I do not want to support that.
You’re right that I did help create this mess by putting my money into the gem shop, but I was expecting for Anet to go in the direction they did with the original GW by developing expansions with the money they earned from the gem shop. There were so many signals pointing in that direction that I figured it would come to pass eventually, but after two years of waiting and a second LS on the way it is safe to assume Anet has taken a wrong turn towards disaster for the GW franchise.
Don’t get me wrong, GW2 was fun for a while and everyone was expecting some sort of new content to come out that wasn’t LS, we just didn’t know that Anet would screw it up this bad but that’s hindsight for you. We live and learn from our mistakes and I personally am rectifying my mistake by not supporting Anet until we get new permanent content. Who knows, maybe Anet did learn from their mistakes and this new LS2 will be like that of an expansion with a vast array of permanent content that will not be the likes of the Scarlett saga, but then again if wishes were horses we’d all take a ride.
This video explains it best about the hopes consumers had for the gem store and where Anet went wrong:
