Non Raiders blocked from XP bar spirit shards

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Alteraphim.4629

Alteraphim.4629

There is a simple solution to this problem and that is this; make the instance accessible by singular players and unlock the Mastery Track by viewing a cinematic or something (something that explains the lore behind the raid and the benefits the track might provide). Discussion as to the legitimacy of spirit shards as “progression” is irrelevant, it’s not fair to lock a progression mechanic behind one part of one gametype (those last 8 MPs…I need mah 173).

Also, to answer Michael a few posts above me…
PvP, WvW, and PvE all have separate XP’s to earn in their respective environments. Raids still fall under the PvE banner and should be treated as such. The more you section off game play like this the more isolated each respective playerbase becomes.

Looks like it’s been a steady drop over the last 6 months. Someone already mentioned it but with the listing fees and the taxes a lot of people are likely able to afford these lower prices more than the original ones. That’s why we are seeing more movement and more stock (even though no new ones have been introduced).

Legendary gear has the same stats as ascended gear. /thread

I can switch stats now for free on my ascended armor?
Haven´t read it in the patch notes…but this is an awesome news!

I said it’s the same stats. It’s cheap enough to convert ascended armor now. We’ve had the same stuff since launch. Ascended weapons are beyond a lot of very casual players (apparently), but low and behold, they have the same stats.

Since you can now easily and relatively cheaply switch stats on ascended gear anyway, yeah, no big deal.

Lose runes and infusions? Yeah, cheap……. Really this I one of the weakest arguments I’ve seen you come out with. Legendary gear lets you try new things and not for fit your infusions or runes untill you are sure the new build/gear fits your play style.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion_Extraction_Device

No way to avoid losing runes/sigils though.

And judging from what’s in the game with legendary weapons and ascended weapons, it’s logical to conclude you can have multiple sets of ascended for the price of a legendary. You’re not going to need every single stat set in the game, even with raids.

As a vet, i dont care for gold…i care for convenience. I have 2 Accounts, multiple permanent bank expresses, permanent tp, permanent merchant, permanent hairstylist, i have 17 Char slots, mostly 20slot bags on all chars, i just started to name my twinks after what they carry around…“skins n equip” anyone?
I have dozens and dozens of different armor sets, 15 on my thief. I have to store them in my bank, cause his inventory is full of weapons and armors.
I have 7 Legendaries…and i am even thinking about crafting 1 or 2 underwater legendaries…yes, i am that bored, i think about crafting underwater legendary.

Perhaps i dont need legendary armor, but i want it. Convenience is my endgame…and legendary tier is convenience at its best.

The stat swap feature on legendary’s is a red herring meant to distract from the exorbitant cost of the item, as it’s arguably more convenient to have more than one armor set, given the amount of clicks needed to swap stats and runes/sigils on a piece of equipment (although, obviously not in terms of space management. In that case you open up bag slots in exchange for more work to switch stats around).

Shush...it's a secret. Don't tell.

…Based on the same premise, I am ABSOLUTELY sure that ascended armor will be the best armor forever…

Please, get a clue. If the accounting department joins forces with the marketing department and proudly explain that there was not done enough for the collector people and there is big money in it, you can bet your lucky underwear that Anet immedieately turns traitor on that promise too.

They are both purchasable on the TP. The idea behind legendary weapons was that they were a culmination of effort across all game modes. There has been some alleviation of this given the introduction of mode specific legendary’s but that design philosophy is still unlikely to experience dramatic change. It’s not a blocker in regards to Matt’s post, he was referring to anything game related (bugs, exploits, failed events, etc.) that stopped progress, with an emphasis on things that were outside your control.

Honestly, the TD meta isn’t so hard that it CAN’T be completed, and it satisfies the need for a “difficult” meta event. DS needs to be easier (and imo it’s easier than the other three HoT meta’s) because of the tie in’s with the story. Anet wants people to complete DS because it’s the “other side of the coin” concerning the fall of mordremoth. TD is independent (tied in to the pact advancement to DS, but not touched on during the story) and doesn’t need the same accessibility philosophy, thus giving it the opportunity to function as “the most difficult meta”. The DS meta focuses on accessibility while the TD meta focuses on exclusivity. This is why the TD meta can be more difficult than the DS meta and why it should stay that way.

Casual players can indeed enjoy all aspects of the new maps, even if they can only log in for 15 mins a day. Do you assume I mean that they can accomplish things in the same timeframe as hardcore players, or that you have to finish a meta to enjoy it?

Why nerf spider?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Alteraphim.4629

Alteraphim.4629

For those saying that nerfing it has something to do with events, i find that very debatable.

Firstly, those who want skins have to do the events if they want to get tokens, yes, they can get hunting bags for tokens but that is only from the spider farm’s map, that don’t apply to other maps. So, people still have to do events to get tokens to get skins and gears or whatever map specific items. Likewise, people have to do events to get certain achievements. So, I don’t really think it has anything to do with events, mainly because people can choose to max their masteries first before farming events for tokens or achievements, because it might be easier for them to transverse the place and access to things. Most importantly, they put raid entrance in VB, do you really think it has anything to do with events?

Some people say that it has something to do with drops because it is a veteran mob, it drop rares and poison venom more frequently. I think this is the real reason why anet nerf it but too I find it puzzling, why is anet stopping people from farming mats? If the players find another spot, is anet gonna nerf it again? Is anet gonna nerf all the places we farm for mats? Is it why anet decided to put a huge gold sinks call guild hall to intentionally drain the mats market and cause gold inflation while nerfing dungeon rewards? Anet’s economy plan is puzzling.

Edit: Thinking again, there is one thing that benefit in the gold inflation and that is gem price. Is that anet’s real goal? To inflate the gold/gem conversion to make people buy gems to convert to gold?

Anet does what they can to keep the entrance of materials into the market at a level they determine reasonable. Too many materials entering the market devalues both the materials and the content that doesn’t award that many materials.

You could take as many screenshots as you wanted and that wouldn’t prove anything because your sample size is incredibly small. You could poll all of your friends, or even everyone you met ingame over the course of the day and your sample size would still be too small. You have presented no numbers, no hard data, nothing that could stand up to scrutiny and as such have no point to make. Anecdotal evidence proves nothing

if we turn into hardcore players

Casual doesn’t mean unskilled.

Casual players are immensely hindered by the ridiculously long meta event cycles tied to the real-world clock. Casual players don’t plan their playing hours. They log in, and play.

Some of them are skilled enough to deal with any challenge in the new maps, except the challenge of needing to be online at specific times to participate in the only significant content on offer in the new maps.

I made that post under the assumption that casual players were time restricted not skill restricted (although it was implied and not explained) and that the major drag wa the time needed to adjust to the mobs. I don’t really know why you brought up meta event timing, OP mentions “calming the mobs down”, scaling down HPs, and having more safe areas, which I addressed with the quoted comment. The discussion ends with the last post I saw from him;
“No I don’t? As I said, I have no problems with surviving in the jungle… I said all the causals hate it and the maps are almost empty for the last week. And it is not just because of raids. And I also said, exploring jungle = playing in groups and clearing everything you see, or playing alone with as many stunbreakers and swiftness buffs as possible. Fun factor? – zero”

Not for my sake, but for everyone’s else. The maps are almost empty. Nobody wants to play in those maze maps when they have to run for their lifes without being able to stop and actually enjoy it for a second. Emptiness of these maps just proves my point. + there is this grossly overturned difficulty for succeeding meta.

Since there is no way of knowing how many overflow maps are present emptiness of the map proves nothing. Your evidence is anecdotal, without real data you don’t have a point. Are you running berserker gear?

I see. So a possible solution exists, which works for lots and lots of people, but you refuse to use it and then complain that’s something’s happening. So noted.

Astralaria I: The 12 day Timegate

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Alteraphim.4629

Alteraphim.4629

Please do not try to get everything this exact moment. Twelve days are nothing if you factor in the other parts you are going to need.

I’m not but considering the entire thing is actually quite a lot of work (have you even seen how long it takes to get 250 Crystalline Ingots?) I feel like adding a timegate like this is kind of arbitrary and serves no real purpose. It doesn’t add anything to gameplay.

Timegates can be a valuable mechanic to enhance gameplay and ensure game longevity. However ArenaNet LOVES to litter them throughout their game because it “gives you something to do each day”. What’s being forgotten is there is already SO MUCH to do.

Timegates on Ascended? Fine, we don’t want the market flooded. Timegates on currency conversion? Fine, we don’t want people to just farm easy events in one map to get all the currency for another.

Timegates for a small lorebook studyguide that’s only reward is a mini and a couple AP? Sorry but that’s a bit ridiculous.

Would love to see some justification from you as to why a timegate is necessary or what it actually adds to the gameplay.

The time gate is there for other reasons. It’s a fun little collection that awards you with some new lore everyday and it keeps people coming back to that event chain (or even looking for maps that have completed it). I understand the concern for what we might deem “excessive” gating, but I don’t think this is a good example of that.

Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Alteraphim.4629

Alteraphim.4629

Except that, as of now, the collections are still cheaper than the AH. The fact of the matter is that IS a logical choice. You have another option to choose from when deciding which way is the most fun FOR YOU when obtaining a precursor. Once again, all relative.

That varies from weapon to weapon. Some do seem to be at least slightly cheaper via quest, but still not nearly cheap enough, while others are actually significantly more expensive via quest than on the TP. The problem is that the prices are determined by supply and demand, which wouldn’t be the case if they were made entirely of non-market items.

I didn’t say you couldn’t express discontent for it.

Then what is your point? We are expressing discontent, that is our point. Your point seems to be “your discontent is wrong and you should stop it.”

But again, your other current option would be “I’m going to farm _anything I want in the game,”_ and the gold you accumulate by doing so would allow you to buy a Precursor off the TP faster than going the quest route.

It’s a false choice, it’s “The Lady or the Tiger,” only with glass doors, and the “lady” is a lioness.

That’s not true either. Demand would certainly fall, but some people would prefer to spend money than go through the hassles of the quests, so there would certainly still be some reasonable demand for the items.

I never once said your discontent was wrong. When a discussion is had, both sides of an argument are debated. I haven’t attacked anyone’s point of view in any of my points, nor have I said that you were wrong to feel a certain way, I have argued the other point; one way isn’t superior to the other.

Slightly cheaper being around 250g cheaper for the the legend, around 50g cheaper for Zap, and 200g cheaper for spark and those are with Buy orders only
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Crafted-Spark-and-Zap/first#post5696390
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3q5yf7/crafted_precursor_the_legend_through_collection/
https://www.gw2tp.com/item/29180-the-legend

It’s not a false choice, it’s an amazingly reasonable one and both choices offer good incentives. There are a fair amount of players who will do one, and a fair amount of players who will do the other, but just because you disagree with the price doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it to a portion of the playerbase.

Edit: Which ones are more expensive to craft right now? Where are your sources?
