I seem to remember predicting this over a year ago but I can’t find my post… I’m not surprised in the least Anet did this. Look at their track record.

  • Confusion was a mesmer thing
  • Moa was a mesmer thing
  • Torment was a necromancer thing on shroud 5 skill at first

I’m sure there’s more examples. This stuff is typical of RPGs. They introduce a mechanic or ability that is unique to one class, then later on they spread it around for balance reasons. It’s like entropy. Homogeneity among RPG classes always increases over time. Don’t be surprised when engineer gets alacrity on one of their elixirs. Don’t be surprised when warrior gets a quickness banner. Maybe a year from now chronomancer will be completely replaceable.

I don’t get this “Confusion was a mesmer thing”, when was confusion ever a mesmer only thing Engineer have allways had several confusions skills, Pistol #3, Toolkit #3 and bombkit #3 have all had confusion. Heck early release Engineers could do better confusion builds then a mesmer.

But I do agree it’s odd alacrity is given away, since that actually were something they sold the entire Chronomancer elite on. It is also sorta uncalled for, seeing as most revenant players says it won’t make ventari viabel

I rather like the “nerf” in some scenarios, it helps me output 2 phantasms very quickly. The loss of block duration is a bit of a bummer but so far I’ve counted 1 scenario where I really missed the block, but about 6 or 7 where I really appreciated 2 extra phantasms much quicker.

Yeah pretty much how I have it aswell! And most competent enemies wouldn’t keep attacking you for the entire block duration anyway, so it’s nothing big! And from a romaing perspective the Well of Precognition change is a buff, I mean, now your immune to everything doing it!

Thoughts on the tiny shield nerf? Have you noticed it in fights?

Haven’t had a lot of time to play since the patch, been a tad to busy here up to X-mas, but no the fight I have had I really haven’t noticed it much! It might make a difference when it’s kiting and toying with a large group of zerglings, but haven’t done much of that yet! Will see if I can get some footage here over the X-mas break for a new video!

@AngelExtreme Yeah I think tune of the scrapper could work, I mean 7% reduced dmg is allways nice, in special in combi with all the protection uptime! that said I still think Superior Rune of the Defender is the best! I have a hard time picking anything but that rune

@Curunen don’t worry, it were me that asked you haha I do find Celestial buidls very interestring, since that’s what most “Bruiser” builds go for, like Engineer og elementalists! But I have just had a hard time going with it in mesmer builds, seeing healing power just ain’t scaleing a lot with our healing skills!

What I am thinking so, is are you really going to need all the stealth? I mean you are going to be really beefy with a full celestial set, setting you at about 22k hp and a fair deal of toughness! I’m just wondering if that elite spot and utility couldn’t be used for something else :P

But yeah it does suck how timegated celestial is + the quartz now cost a lot more thanks to the new expansion ><

@luxontime Yeah I really love the stability! You can stomp all day with it and it also helps you avoid getting taken down by coordinated CC! But I can see for sure why CI is a good pick aswell! It’s a tough choice!
The Mirror heal makes most Engineer/Ranger/DragonHunter/Hammer Rev’s/P/P Theifs and so on a complete joke to fight! You active defence against these people is just silly! But I can why you prefer feast yeah!

Yeah I only manage it to cast some elites and high CD ultis now and then, and do some trollish stomps and kiting with it from time to time! But sooo much I in theory should be able to do with it, but just can’t time correctly in a fight xD

@Curunen it feels like the WvW community ain’t as active as it used to be! :/ I’m hoping for the changes there is talk about coming to WvW will help improve it! It is quite annoying running around forever to find fights! But sounds like a fun fight to kite them in their keep haha

What do you plan to build with Celestial? Illusion/chronomancer/Inspiration or?

@Curunen it’s looking good what you are working on! I’m looking forward to hear about how the revenant runes are going to work for you in WvW! With that stat loadout you are gonna be a pain to kill!

@Luxontime Wohooo!! Have been looking forward to see this video! I really enjoy your take on the build! Chaotic Interruption with Gravity well is really fun times, and the immobilise duration you sometimes gets stacked on people is great to watch haha!
The poor reaper that just were stuck forever in it!

But it’s just so hard for me to give up on all my stability from BD! But I see you make up for it a lot with WoP, which see some great plays in the footage! It’s for certain a great pick for the final utility when running one these builds! Also the extra Chaos Armor is not to be little, when you use another well that extra field is gold!
Think I gotta use gravity well and CI in the next video hehe, it gives some awesome footage!

I don’t share the same trouble with Dragon Hunters as you do, but I think that mostly is because I use Mirror as my heal, and only have to watch for the unblockable attack!
The DareDevils/Thiefs with S/D on the other hand, are indeed quite a pain in the butt!! So hard to land any dmg on them ><

But great run down of the build and thanks a lot for sharing the video! It’s great to see how people use what I posted as inspiration to make their own awesome builds which they have a lot of fun with! Also lovely that the basic concept of a Bruiser Chronomancer playstyle is so versatile and you can run many different loadouts with i!

Ps. I can see I’m not the only one that need to train on using the F5 shatter! Your’s dosn’t see much play haha! It’s so hard to use it proberly!

Also a minor update: I haven’t had acces to my real gamer computer the past 2 weeks, so haven’t really been able to enjoy WvW and get new recordings! I will get it back this monday tho, so I will start work on the next video probaly around there!
Also In general cheers to everyone that’s following this thread! It’s so awesome to see the high interest in this sort of mesmer build and I’m looking forward to hear more from people taking their own twists on the build or just enjoying it in general!

Also I now got a full acsended loadout, so gonna see how big of a diffrence that will make

That is an interesting idea, I think, and would make for a good opportunity to add more variety in countering evades. I guess the question is, what sort of attacks should be un-evade-able?

And it is also true that Elixir S does allow you to stomp and rez, but usually if you’re using it for that it means your defense of a point is already likely to succeed. But I will grant that is a very useful degree of utility that evade-granting attacks don’t have.

Nope. There are definitely consistency issues here, probably, like you said, due to the nature of how Anet has rolled its various changes out. Now that leagues are out, it’s unlikely this will be addressed for a few months at least, though. :/

The first problem i see with unevadeable attacks tho, is… Dosn’t a dodge count as a evade? xD And would that mean these attack also can’t be dodged or? But yeah, that aside:
I’m not sure which skills I would design it on tbh, but I’m thinking professions that could benift of it, to make them more valid would be Warriors (maybe on some of the weapons that see less play? Off hand Axe or Sword maybe? or maybe some of the really slow animation hammer skills? or maybe add it tosome of the burst skills), Necromancer (They also suffer from some very slow and easy avoidable animations, maybe on Focus #5 or some of the shroud skills?)
Maybe on Engineers? I could see it for sure being intetrestring on a skill like Big Ol’ Bomb, which could be a great counter to bunkers ect? Bomb Kit are in a need for some love anyway in my opinion!

But I think that skills that it could be nice to see on, are abilities with long “cast times” or “long windups”, and maybe some alibities that can intertupt! I always loved how magnet could pull past a block, it gave counterplay

Also I really hope they aderess these consistency issues, because it’s annoying as a player/customer that we get confused over how things function when they make odd rulings like this :/

Well, your other examples are certainly valid points, but my point is, for engie, that’s not the case. And you can feel free to call me personally compromised because I main engie and feel like elixir S is pretty useless sometimes, given it shuts down all of your skills and doesn’t do damage or anything.

But I’m not saying engie is UP, either and needs a major buff. I think there is a chance for a substantive argument here, though. First, I will disagree that making something not viable for PvP is necessarily wrong. A lot of things are not viable in PvP, most of them PvE skills which are perfectly viable elsewhere. But to look specifically at the mechanic of evasion:
What makes something unfair to use when capping a point, according to existing mechanics, (and exempting engie of course)? Stealth (can’t be seen or targeted) and invulnerability (can’t be attacked), yes?

So if you have a well which covers an entire cap point which makes everyone inside it (of the mesmer’s team) unable to be attacked, isn’t that… guilty of the same level of unfairness? To me, it doesn’t seem fair that one type of un-attackable-ness is point-capping and another isn’t but I’m certainly open to seeing how it could be.

The built in attacks on the evades are also kind of a slap in the face though, to elixir S… untraited you get an evade with a similar duration on a lower cool down that also does damage. But I digress.

Oh but I do agree with you that Elixir S either should become a invulnerability again or have the “you do not contribute to cap holding” component removed from it!
It gotta be a stupid oversight from Anet’s side that they turned it from a invulnerability (where you could use kit skills) into a Evade ability and kept that <.<
I mean if all other evade skills, but Elixir S dosn’t prevent point capping, then should’t Elixir S be the same?
And while you ofc. are right many things ain’t viable in PVP, I think it’s bad design from Anet’s side that being the case! I mean, ideally we should be able to use as close to everything in PvP as we can right?

And while you point out Stealth and invulnerability as functions where you “can’t be attacked”, the same goes for Blocking and Evade skills, you can’t attack them but they can keep capping! Now, there is unblockable attacks and hence I said: Maybe unevadeable attacks would bring a nice and interestring counter to it?

That said: You can’t stomp/ress/do other things while using blocks (unless ageis, we used to be able to use Shield 5 is an Engineer and then be able to stomp while blocking, it were awesome) and most of the evade skills that also deals dmg, also prevents you from ressing and stomping because you are doing the “attack action”.
So maybe Well of Precognition is to much? It gives you and friends an AoE evade where you are able to do these things, but it does have the hindrance of being a AoE field people have to stand in, so you can allways just walk away from it as an enemy. But if they hold the point it’s still a problem for you!
It is the first skill to grant this sort of stuff in an AoE, hence I rather want a detailed discussion about it, where the facts about the skill are correct!
Like I started out saying, I don’t know if it’s balanced or not, I just wanted the facts to be clear :P

Edit: Actually I do wonder, if the way Anet sees it: The reason you can’t cap points nor attack under Elixir S, is because you are able to stomp or ress people, then by that logic Well of Precognition obivously should be the same!
That said it dosn’t make sense to me designing an evade granting abillity (which used to grant invulnerability), which is an inferior effect compared to invulnerability, and gives it the handicaps of both an evade (still take dmg from conditions on you) and the handicap of invulnerability (Can’t cap points). Or is that just me finding that silly?

Definitely probably right on the money, there.

But the point kind of stands that evade frames should = nocap, which was the point of the OP (whether he called it blur or displacement, which, to be fair, are as easy to get confused as the various unrelated rulings Anet has made about skills over the years). I mean, for the engie that’s the case, so why is mesmer exempt? If anything, isn’t that disparity proof of a legitimate issue or “breakage”?

Actually Evade Frams = You can cap!
invulnerability Frames = You can’t cap!
Evade frames are also what a Thief use on Sword/D skill #3 or a ranger on Shortbow #5 or Revenant Sword #2 just for some exampels! They all allow you to stay on the point and capping it, while capture it! Now I do know these skills dosn’t allow you to do other stuff meanwhile, because they are attack much like Blurred Frenzy.

What I meant with Anet not being consistent, is that elixir S used to be a invulnerability grnating ability just like Mesmer shatter F4 Distortion (which OP were comparing the Well to), both of this granted you complete invulnerability to everything and hence you could not contripute to point capping! Hence when Anet changed Elixir S to an Evade, they should have removed the “you can’t contripute to capping” aspect of Elixir S. Which is what I ment with it’s probaly Anet messing up as usual xD

With that said, Well of Precognition, might be a problem with it’s AoE Blur (Evades) granting buff, where people can do actions in it! But the way OP present it, all we get is: “This is broken because it grants invulnerability to everyone! There is no counterplays!”
Which is just a wrong fact! I mean, if he made a prober job presenting the ability and talked about the build it’s being used in, then we could have a discussion about that.

Also, again it’s not that I’m against a change or anything, but if Well of Precognition didn’t allow you to contripute to point capping, no one would use it in sPvP! That is the exact same reason the support idea for memsers of using Blurred Inescriptions (activating a signets grants distortion) in combinition with Inspiring Distortion (When you gain distorition you share it) didn’t work. Because what good were it to share “defence” with your m8’s if you lost the point?

Across the board, eh? Well guess what, when I get nuked by a necro and then stunned right as I triggering the trap of a DH with completely invisible AOE lines, I get wrecked by conditions during my 3-second evade that doesn’t contribute one iotia towards any capture point!

See this is rather embarrassing with 1000+ hours on an Engineer!
In my defence tho! I had a break doing living world Season 1, like the entire thingie and the change have probaly come back then! And since I came back I honestly haven’t really used it

What the OP is telling us is he feels this and that is broken, which is an opinion…. It’s not a fact they are broken. Which is totally fine, everyone can have an opinion! But when he base his opinion on facts which are wrong, that honestly makes hi opinion invalid!

Whatever these mechanics IS broken or OP I’m not interesed in discussing, because I don’t do sPVP on high enough plan to do so…. But he should at least base his opinion on the real facts

I don’t really wanna comment on what needs to be balanced and whatnot, but I wanna point out this information is wrong:

Well of Precognition does not give “distortion” it gives “blur”. Blur is the same Mesmer get’s when using Sword #2 Blurred Frenzy, which gives you Evade Frames! Which means if you condi overload the mesmer he will still take dmg from the condition and dmg from ret if his hitting you. Evade frame granting skills have allways allowed you to capture points across the board, so this isn’t any different.

Distortion negates all dmg and under that you do not contribute to point capping.
The only way a Mesmer can share distortion, is the Inspiration minor Inspiring Distorition, which shares ours with nearby team m8’s, which is a hindrance more often then a blessing. Because here both I and my teammate won’t contribute to point capping.

Also… there is counterplay, how about just doing a stomp on the downed person? and you can “counterplay” their safe stomps by… ressing your team m8? I mean, it’s not new some professions can do stomps you really can’t prevent!
And honestly if two mesmers are bunkering on the same point, just leave really!

Does the game neeed “unevadeable attacks” like we have unblockable attacks? That is an entire different discussion, which might bring somrthing good to the game if we got! (Could see it being nice for Warriors and Necromancers for a start)

@Windwalker sorry I were certain I had made an reply to you, but clearly I haven’t xD
You might be right on needing a certain amunt of HP pool to avoid getting instant nuked, at least against suprise attack and stealth openeres! But I’m honestly not much of a number guy, I gotta adimt! I just pick what “feels” right for me and then use that. Which have ended up with me running allmost fully glass cannon now, cause I feel the protection uptime and the sustain is good enough! I’m only using a tiny bit of cavilar and knight for more HP atm
But Curunen might be on to something with Marauder (since it’s overal more stats) might be a good call!

@Vanderwolf if you haven’t tried it yet, I would highly recommend you try swap domination for Chaos! If nothing else, it’s really fun haha

@Stormbolt I use Well Precognition when I swap in Gravity Well instead of Time Warp and pick up CI for some interuption fun! I do that because I lose all my stability, and that works great! I have talked with a few other people also using it, and I think it’s very valid option! It’s a great “Oh kitten” button!
Well of Action I used a lot before I ended up on calamity and it works great as well honestly! I used it more for my defensive rotations instead of my offensive ones! Planting it on top of people attacking me to slow them, or to slow people trying to ress a friend/speed up my stomp in the end!
Honestly both wells are great picks for the third utility slot, and they both come with more Chaos Armor uptime, which is allways amazing! Both can help you secure stomps and give you some recovery time so go for it for sure!

I haven’t tried Arcane Thievery for this build, and probaly won’t! But that’s mostly because I feel it’s a sort of bugged utility that’s really bad at hitting it’s target! :/ That said it might work and can mess up them Heralds and Elementalists that sometimes can take ages to kill!

Chronomancer WvW roaming advice

@Vicko something you can do to get better aswell is to duel a lot of heralds,daredevils and druids and/or make one yourself, take it to sPvP and play with it a bit, using some of the stadnard meta builds! You learn a lot from doing that, learning the skills and traits they use, to get a better understanding about what you have to avoid ect.
For starters when vs a Herald it’s important to stopper dealing dmg. when they pop the healing ability and don’t apply all your burst on the druid whiles his in the spirit form (just like elementalist in water), but right after and so on.
Daredevils and Thiefs is about playing defensive at the start, but then counter attacking as soon as you see a opening and apply pressure

When using your block ability, train yourself in using it right when an attack is coming at you! That way most people won’t have time to stop the attack, and you secure a block agaisnt an important skill! Same way, don’t go from one block into the next block, rather save it to block another important skill! Every profession have some obvious animated skills you can use the block for! Also watch out for the unblockable attacks!

Something you can do to easy get more sustain is using some of the Heal on crit food, like Omnom Berry Ghost, or change you runes, I personally love Rune of the Defender as a Chronomancer I’m playng a pretty much pure zerker build and I can handle anythign WvW throw after me dmg wise, because of my trait and weapon loadout and rune!

@Curunen I actually rate Toughness a lot higher then Vitality when I do WvW with this build! Sustain just goes better with toughness then vitality! Vitality is only worth it if I have trouble with conditions, and I really dont with this build That said, you could for sure going with that loadout out!

tell you the truth i play with scepter/shield and staff marauder amulet.
ppl really dont know how to react to that when may scpeter #3 does 6k dmg to them and #3 staff phantasm does 3-4k dmg

I find this more funny then I probaly should haha But I could imange people be very W-T-F is going on here! With that loadout all must asume your a condi mesmer! I gotta give that a try aswell haha!

@Curunen I wouldn’t say Maruder is worth it in WvW, just toss a few Knight or Soldier into the mix if you want more defence

Hey Tiggers! Hope you are going to have a lot of fun with your Mesmer!

1. Shield skill 5 Nom Nom break bars, Signet of Domination is a 3 sec stun that nom nom, Pistol 5 also Nom Nom, Staff 5 chaos storm can nom nom, Gravity well Nom Nom and the Shatter Diversion also Nom Nom it! Also Blinds and slow takes away from a break bar, and with the right builld you can have plenty of both!
2. I think you cover a lot of the utility skills, but you can also skip a lot with sealth, which should not be underestimated:)
3. Quickness + Alarctiy sharing well builds are quite fun! You should check this thread out for more info: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/PvE-The-New-Chronomancer-Dungeon-Rotation/first
4. I’m probaly not the right person to answear here, I’m not a min/maxer hehe

@Windwalker It does indeed have this forgiving and sorta of similar playstyle feeling as a condi shatter can have! I never were a huge fan of Greatsword, so for me it’s an easy pick to go with the staff, but I can see for sure why some have a tough time with that! If the IWarlock just were better at hitting it would be sweet! I do get happy when he crits 4-5k in WvW on people tho!

But yeah it feels like you allmost have a sustained damage output, where you constantly sends out dmg and I perosnal feel like they can’t avoid all my dmg, compared to when I have used a Greatsword burst build and felt I were boned if they dodge mirror blade and Izerker! :/

@Trooper I gues I sooner or later will have to move my butt into sPVP with the build and see how I can make it work haha Ofc. I think sPvP depends a lot on your rank, and if you play with a team and at what level you play! But I do think the build probaly won’t hold up in a combetitive sense at least! :/ Might still be a ton of fun for the standard sPvP player But glad to hear you still are having fun in WvW with it!

@Curunen haha it is allways good to be out early with the “this dons’t need a nerf” indeed But just like you, I haven’t really gotten much hate using this build, which is a big plus for me! Most people I have talked with afterwards actually felt it were a fun fight, and a few said it were like hitting your head against a wall hoping for it to break haha ^^
Only met a handfull of people that said the build were OP and they just couldn’t see a way to defeat it! But even then, they didn’t hate on it the same way as PU builds have gotten hate! I mean I can’t even play Condi PU for an hour without getting several spitefull whispers!

@Curunen I think it’s totally legit to not like the runes, they are sort of special! I on the other hand, just can’t live without them haha They are the best thing to ever come around! But I do think it’s very nice to see people test out other runes, more options i allways a good thing!

But I agree with you on your toughts, it take a lot of cordination and awerness to set everything up for your attacks! The burst are by no means as high as a more traditonal power mesmer, it actually is more similar to condition dmg, where you deal small chunks over a longer periode… it’s more sustained! But I allways prefered that playstyle, so I gues that’s why I have so much fun!
But this is also, as you say, probaly the reason for this won’t need a nerf

@Reborn D Well of Precognition is certainly another great option for the third utility! Most of the well honestly are! More Chaos armor fields! =D And yes it’s not really that big of a loss to remove the signet, it’s really just a personal preference for me!
But glad to hear your having fun and that it’s awesome! To be able to fight in outnumbered fights are great!

@Decimus haha thanks a lot! But don’t feel outplayed, WvW is never as balanced as sPvP and the skill level of some people in WvW can be really bad! To fight 3-4 alone in sPvP and come out winning, ain’t gonna happen

@Electric Puha I can see how a DH sometimes can get one by suprise, by miss stepping into a trap or as you say, not dodge/block/reflect a 9k Trueshot! On the other hand, most ranged enemies can be hillarious fun to fight against, and reflect their stuff back in their face! In special kill shot warriors just makes my day!
But the interrupt Daredevil, what loadout does one run with? I haven’t faced one, but have fought some interttupt mesmer and in between my active defence and stability from shatters, they just couldn’t deliver many interupts!
But cheers for the feedback! It’s nice to hear about what other people have problems with, and I love how overconfidence is becoming a weakness with the build!

But that’s sorta also what I like with it: If you manage and time your skills well, you can aboid insane amounts of dmg and you can also recover a lot of lost life, really fast! But if you start to play bad, and don’t avoid the important stuff, your gonna drop quickly as the glass cannon you actually are

@Electric Puha Glad to hear you are having succes with the build! What did you loose the 1vs1 one to? and were it mostly a matter about being outplayed or did you feel you just couldn’t win it? But I feel bad for the guy you dueled!

@Tankvieh you are certainly right, that when a Thief burst suddenly comes out of nowhere with it’s big numbers, it can really mess up your HP-pool and often make a fast end to a outnumbered fight! But there really ain’t much to do in those situations, unless you are having a solid protection uptime going for you! But that said, it’s only a problem for me in an outnumbered situation, in a 1vs1 5-9k burst can easy be sustained! Condi bombs can be a danger as you point out, but that often requires several attacks to hit you and have only been an annoyance when a necromancer corrupt all my boons
Well of Precognition is a solid replacement to the Signet for sure! But I’m glad you enjoying the build

@Curnen and Trooper, I think I will slowly start work towards some hyrbid armor sets for WvW and see if I can make it work, just for the fun of it! :P I wil llet you know how it goes haha! My gaming time these days are sadly in the lower end, IRL keeps me busy!

I noticed that too. But it is strange two different users have same name, that is why I thought it is the same person with different accounts.

I always liked xiao videos and I truly think he is good. However, I won’t follow him on youtube anylonger and will not watch his videos anymore because the way he replied in the MB thread.

If you click the account name you can see which posts they have made on the forums, and see that they are indeed not the same person! So you can keep supporting this one on youtube, since his not the same guy!

You might be right with sword being just fine for the build! I just really like Scepter haha
But you are right for sure, the defence takes a massive drop from loosing it’s Stability/regen/Protection uptime! I hope that Rune of the Defender + a few Dire items can make up for it and still make it work! Ofc. I have no idea about that, since I haven’t tested it and it’s purely speculation!
I just wish we could make condi builds without the Illusion line! =_=

Hmm you shouldn’t be able to get stun locked by anything honestly! What loadout are the daredevil using? It’s a matter about Dodging/Blocking the right attacks, or using the shatter stability to avoid the stun!

@Zerosilence other people have had succes useing superior rune of Vampirism, so these could work out for you until you an get the Runes of the Defender!

Funnily enough I’ve also been thinking about hybrid, but instead swapping Inspiration for Illusions – because I love traited mirror and stability shatter too much.

Trouble is losing all that condition removal and the iDefender, and the complex mess of stats.

My problem with giving up Inspiration is the sudden mass loss of condition removal and healing from my shatters! XD

I wish Well of Calamity did more damage though – it seems really weak and extremely easy for an enemy to avoid.

I can kinda follow you, but then again, mine is steady critting 5k on the final hit and that is just so sweet when a 2-3 guys end up standing in it :P

Yeah Null Field can be a solid addition to the build, an another Ethernal field to make more Chaos armor on is allways great! Protection Up time is yummy!

@Curunen swapping out the Signet for Disenchanter could be a pretty solid move in a 1vs1 duel! I would say that one ain’t that needed in a duel, tho reseting F1 shatter and F3 shatter at the right time could be big! hmm
But I agree, some bunker builds will just have to much sustain and tankiness, so you won’t be able to bring them down… On the other hand tho, they won’t be able to kill you either

Adding some boonshare and better ressing to the love!

@Curunen There is for sure some builds that can bunker a lot and you won’t be able to kill! But that’s sorta holds true for most bunker builds, I mean it’s super hard to kill a bunker guardian aswell! But as you mention, your dmg potential ain’t the best… In speical if they are good to avoid your shatters and well combo! When that is said, the build is still able to down most things, even if some builds can take some time hehe
And it is as you say, you give up some upfront dmg. as a trade off for high enough defence/sustain to realiabel be able to beat several enemies at the same time, which is a trade I would make any day hehe

@Simonoly you are ofc. right that since it’s a WvW roaming build balance ain’t a concern, so I might end up adding it to the meta section… Just for the fun of it, to see if it get’s anywhere hehe

Anyway it still shows the idea of you don’t have to kill people to support the zerg, I remove several enemies from the fight, by luring them away from what they actually should be doing And the build can do this sort of stuff quite well! It Also seems the build Calculator is still down for me!

@Drederik I agree that I probaly wouldn’t use this version of the build if I mostly did zerging, but with some minor twearks it could for sure do more AoE dmg and support for the pug players!

@Tankvieh gonna do some minor editing work on the clip then and I will have it up some time 2morrow then! When you are stuck in the choke fights I would recommend you to try get behind the enemy lines and see if you can lure enemies away! Most zerglings take the bait quite easy and they are really bad at doing prober chases!

@Warlord that does indeed sound pretty silly but also sort of amazing! Did he just stack the resistance an mass by spamming Glamour skills in combo with f5? because that’s really an insane amount haha

How about; Remove the part that deal extra dmg when they use a skill. Instead replace it with something like:
“Whenever you interrupt a foe, increase the duration off your condition on the enemy by 2 seconds”
Or something along these lines, to keep the idea of interrupting in it?

@Drederik I probaly won’t bother with meta battle then, never used it much myself!
But I’m glad to hear your having succes in PvE with it, I have enjoyed it a lot there myself aswell! While people probaly are getting frustrated about not being able to kill the build, most people I talk with still find it a lot more fun then figthing a PU mesmer, so that’s good! I will be looking forward to you finding a good way to take it to sPvP!

@Trooper if you guys just could use Rune of the Defender + put a little bit of toughness in the build without taking a **** amulet, they wouldn’t be a problem xD That is real what allways have been my problem with sPvP, lack of prober custumastion with my stats! :/ But glad to hear it still works out and you can try bait their MoD with using a shatter to get stability when they come, when the battle first get rolling you will have Stability/Block/Evade going most of them time
Reaper is a matter about learning which attacks that doing what, and it’s only the Staff Marks and the “nothing can save you” shout that gives them acces to unblockable attacks! Just dodge the marks and kite away when they use the shout, they are super easy to kite! I often just kite/avoid all their dmg and let them burn trough their own shroud form! In the new video you can see how I handle two of them in my last fight

@Curunen I could see the problem with the build not killing fast enough (That’s not a real problem in WvW), but for sure something that’s important in sPvP! I’m not sure which role you woul play, but probaly some roaming DPS that actually can hold a point for some time? And yeah with all those revenant runes in top of the solid condi removal this build have, your a condi removal beast! XD

@Stormbolt Haha I’m not sure I’m bold enough to actually sumbit it to meta battle! You honestly think it should be there?

@Warlord I allready knew about your awesome boonshare build! I were a huge fan of what Chaos and you were doing with it and palyed quite a few sPvP matches with it myself! It’s were a really fun and solid build! What I meant is; I never really tought about this build as a boonshare build; But now that you mention it I can see for sure how I’m inspired from the Boonsshare build and how you could turn this into a more boonshare focused build if you wanted to So I can for sure see what you mean, I just hadn’t tought it like that! I have actually been waiting to see if the two of you came up with a boonshare Chrono!

Mass Invs is a good pick aswell, but I never were a fan og stealth and I don’t mind to die if a zerg hit me (But quite often I actually get away with this build), but I could for sure see why others would prefer it!

That is the main issue I faced.
I do not know if it is a l2p thing from my side or their side, but I was able to use berserker to a good degree of success. But the low HP was a problem when facing DHs and their traps. I was able to win most of 1vs1 except fews vs DHs.
In team fights, the build turned out to be a good mix of support and damage/cc.

Overall I am satisfied and happy
Not sure on the amulet though. I guess a better player could always use berserker. Maybe traps should be nerferd a little… dunno really. Waiting for curunen to share his experience

I see! From what I can gather at the sPvP forums the DH traps seems to be a bit over the top for many beside you! I could imange such high degree of allmost instant burst will break the build, in spcial when it rely on active defence to outlast bursts! Kinda the same issue it can have vs burst Thief/mesmer from stealth, where you don’t have the possiblity to react on the stealth burst!
But it’s a succes at my end, if my post inspired you to make a build you are satisfied and happy with, that were the important part about all this!

@Adelaide that is indeed an allmost disgusting amount of Stun and daze you bring in that build haha! Interesting take on it to turn it into a 1vs1 dueling monster that can lock people down, I like it! But I can see why the orginal build is working better in more general roaming situations, where you often end up in larger fights or agaisnt several enemies at a time! None the less, thanks for sharing! Seize the Moment with stability on shatters is indeed a allmost dirty stomping combo haha!

@ Trooper it’s interesting to get feedback from the sPvP side and glad to hear that you guys are having a lot of fun with it, just with some minor twearks! @Amadeus – that is the first place I started playing with these trait lines and build. I really think this is the way for the new meta as the block time, invuln, and utility along with ability for group alacrity is the path of the new meta. I hate the s/s and s/f meta that took place just months ago and love this way of playing. I have made some changes and playing with different tweaks but this is the way I will be playing for the future at least as far as I can see. It’s hard to find a substitute rune for Defender but I’m starting to become addicted to the resistance on heal from the revenant runes.

Works better than I was expecting, so thanks again.

That is indeed an interesting rune pick! But then again, anything that activate something when you heal, works well in this setup! Im looking at the Herald rune atm… it says AoE protection, but nothing aboout for how long hmmm! It also comes with more boon duration which aint bad either!

Thanks so much for all the comments and the sudden interest in the build! I’m really happy about it and glad you guys are liking it!
Here comes a update! I decided to make a new video of what semi decent footage I had laying around, just to get a video of the build in live out! In special the first fight is against two good players, but the skill level of the enemies is vaired to say the least!

it is all outnumbered fights and some of them really show the sustain the build can!
I still make stupid mistakes, but that is how the game goes

Are people intrested in seing duel videos? There never were much interst when I made these on my Engineer (beside the ones against Osicat, but yeah, that were Osicat).
But I could make some if people were intrested over a dueling night?

@Trooper, sPvP Amulet choice sadly leaves a lot to be desired, but yeah I would go with Marauder or Berzerker! But to replace the rune is a hard call and I can only see Vampirism do it, and that is only semi! :/ Not sure about how many new runes that have arrived and what they do, but maybe there is some? Tho, I’m no big sPvP player and I don’t use this builld when I finally do it! I would make something more team supporting (since I play with friends)

You play very well. It is nice to see a chronomancer version of my “Boon share” build made with less boonshare and more offense. I do have 3 quick questions for you.

Why dont you ever use the active of signet of illusions? That active with Bountiful disillusion and resto illusions is soooo good. The passive 50% health is good, especially with no DE, but I think with alacrity you can get away with using the active

Why time warp as an elite? You didn’t really use it with that much with f5 to make it a shorter cd so why not go for something like gravity well or mass invis?

With the way you play, you tend to always be close to enemies when you swap to staff, so why not use hydromancy? Its a good 1.5k-2k extra burst and the chill helps your warlock land your hit. Leeching is ok but I think with your playstyle hydro would be better

Otherwise, great vids. Looking forward to more and maybe a duel or two

Then with another rune set for sPvP ect hmmm, the tought is intrestring atleast!
The reason I don’t use the active on the signet is I suck and I forget, it’s really that simpel haha! I’m slowly getting better at using it these days and I think on some of the newer footage I have it actually see a tiny bit of use! But I should use it more for sure, I’m just really really bad at it and something I try to improve a lot on!

The elite is a silly mix of arrogance from my side, I’m allways saving it for the “Critical moment” or secure a stomp! I am also improveing on this matter, when and where to use it, and allowing myself to use it! Also have a lot of work improvement needed to really use CS probaly, but that will hopefully come aswell!
I do use gravity Well somedays, and can be used for sure, it’s a nice eite.
I just really enjoy Timewarp as this 10 secs of “Buffer” zone, where I can secure stomps/migate some dmg ect.

You might be right that Hydro is better, I have tought about using it over Blood or Leeching, but never came around to give it a try. But seeing as none of these sigils really cost anything I might try swap it out today and see if it’s any good!

And thanks for the feedback! I have some half decent footage I’m thinking of putting together, just for a quick video so people can see it in live! But many fights are against zerlings have a hard time understanding what’s going on xD

I’ve been trying this out with marauder gear and knight’s trinkets. Good results so far, I’ve yet to die. It’s amazing how much sustain you can get with typically glassy gear.

@nvmvoidrays I’m actually not sure which rune I would be using, if I were doing sPvP with this build, nor am I sure I really would use this build for sPvP? Probaly works fine with Vampirism runes as Phent said in some solo sPvP, but if I had a team (Which I do when play sPvP) I probaly wouldn’t go with this loadout, seeing as it’s very “selfish” I will have to think about it! But you are indeed correct rune of the defender isn’t there!

@Stormbolt I’m also horrible at explaninging it but let me try again xD
If you have 18.000 HP, and the enemy normally would deal 1000 dmg pr hit, but thanks to toughness he only deals 800 damage, then when he hits you twice, he dealt 1600 damage and you then do a 3xclone shatter and heal 1500ish which is most of the dmg he dealt.
Compared to having 20.000 health, two hits would here deal 2000 dmg and when you do the shatter it still leaves you with a missing 00ish HP. This is very rough math I know, but it’s the basic idea, that your heals do “more” when your HP pool is smaller, while you take less dmg thanks to toughness!
Someone else did the math somewhere else and toughness is also better then vitality against power builds (which most people use).
Also there is a large degree of psychological in fighting against a person, where you deal massie blows to him and his health pool just fills fully up again (Easier with lower health pool).

Marauder gear might be a vailid option and you could for sure use it, I just haven’t felt I really “Needed” more defence and would rather have more offence! But I for sure recommend that people mix and match stats so it fits their taste, rather then following what I link as a blueprint!

@Phent I could imange that Vampirism Runes is a worthy alternative, but I never were a big fan of the 6th bonus, cause it gets me killed if I’m got a high amount of conditions on me! That said I would probaly use All’s Well That Ends Well if I used Gravity well and would swap my Signet out for Well of actions! I actually prefer to do just that in sPvP! But when I roam, I’m not a big fan of having to “stand” in the well when it ends, it tagets my movement and makes my moves predictabel! That said it’s still a solid choice!

@Stormbolt If you wanna beef up your defensive stats, I would actually recommend that you focus on Toughness! High Sustain and Toughness Is a lot better then High Sustain and Vitality 1k healing matters more when you have 18k health then when you have 20k health, in speical when it takes more “damage” to drop your health because of the higher toughness! Same reason Guardians goes for Toughness when they need more defence!
When that is said I don’t really feel I need more defence and I’m often playing with the zerg tail, able to sustain and kite 5-7 people (Not killing them, but playing around and delaying them)!
How I deal with people that try to run away depends on what I face. A Thief can allways get away, in speical if it’s a Daredevil, most Warriors with condi shoe builds and D/D Elementalists aswell!
But what I tend to do, is to stick as close to them as I can, using blink and Staff 2 (Untarget, use hotbind 180 degree turn around and blink towards them) and when I’m close enough I drop Calamity in front of them, so they either have to turn direction og get crippled! If they enter I try go for the Sword 3 leap —> into a Shield 5 and they will often eat a massive well dmg combo!
People with low health can often be finished with super clone missles (Time Catches up), where I simply sends a Superspeed Shatter combo after their Butt ^^ But people running away never really were a concern of mine

if you are looking for a Chronomancer build, then I might be able to help you! Gonna post what I said in another topic asking for pretty much the same! It’s a Power build, using Staff and Sword/shield, so should fit your needs!

So as you can see I simply use the same gear loadout in everything I do, and only swap a few traits around as needed, sometimes bringing more reflects if needed in PvE.

When I do dungeons and all credits goes to Fay!
But my build is amazing fun in WvW and it’s working fine for me doing Open world content, probaly not the best dmg, but you don’t go down all the time either and you have something to do all the time!
