My t1 armor does that same ‘shiny’ thing, unless I turn down my graphics settings to make everything flatter. Then it turns out closer to the color I was going for. So, maybe your settings are just too high for the dark colors to show properly.

I know I can change my settings. Both medium and high shader options make it too shiny. It only looks good on low. Other people are going to see that shine and how bad it looks on me…. Changing settings on my end, will not help that part.

I’m vain, I know… I’m also going to be more picky about how things look because my major was in graphic design. So flaws like that stand out more so to me.

Anyway I finally just got midnight ice. It looks OK. It looks bad in spots, and great in other spots. The sylvari T1 light is my favorite armor in every aspect except for the over the top glossy effect. ::sigh::

I thought the spam was much worse around release. I get about one mail every two weeks. It used to be multiple per day for a while. So, I think things have improved.

I gave up farming in Orr about a month ago. I was there almost everyday for about a month. I stopped farming because I stopped getting decent drops and also because everyone started to farm pen/shelter. Since everyone is there, I couldn’t get a hit on a mob fast enough to get credit even in a group. Many things were nerfed in Orr to prevent farming . So pen/shelter became too over populated. The reward isn’t worth it because the reward was taken out. Although champions and vets never had much reward to begin with. It used to be worth going there, but now you are punished for going there. Everything is risen, so it isn’t like moving around in the zone will prevent DR.

If they removed DR and added more events with different mobs, I would play there again.

@ Electro That isn’t the problem. I already know how to do that. The problem is colors look very different on the T1 light armor in the game. Every dye I get is always brighter.

@ Half Tooth Is that a preview window? My preview windows aren’t grey. Also previews do not help me, sorry.

I’ll post a screen of my armor and the preview of that armor to try and convey my problem. I should have posted this originally. I have midnight violet and midnight teal in the picture. If the two dyes were under a gold or two, I would just buy and find out.

Edit: Adding another screenshot. This one better illustrates the problem then the first one. Depending on the environment it gets really bright and shiny. Dyes are midnight blue and midnight teal.

Opps… I want to see light T1 with midnight ice and/or abyss.

Could any female sylvari post some screenshots of T1 armor with midnight ice and/or abyss here if you have the dye/armor (with the shader on high)? The preview of this armor does not even remotely match the color of my armor in the game. The shader on high brightens up the color significantly and the preview has the shader on low. So there is no way for me to truly preview the armor unless I find someone with the dye and armor.

I’m trying to get my armor to match my hair which is midnight ice, but the T1 armor is very shiny, so I worry midnight ice might not be dark enough.

It’s good. It is the first fairly valuable thing that has ever dropped for me in the past 4 months of play. I’ll be selling it in a few months.

I’m glad Wintersday was this extended. I hate being stressed for time. It makes the event un-enjoyably when they do that. People go away for the holidays and can’t always play everyday. Canceling holiday plans for a video game would be rather stupid. I don’t care for how they had the minis from the boxes account bound, but that’s about it. This event was much better. I was stressed out over the Halloween event; it was just too short. I never want that again.

I’d like full body paint.

The problems is surveys can also be biased, and you may not get to voice your real opinion on something. Or you may not get to voice a unique idea. The Southsun patch survey did not even address anything I was concerned about. I voiced my opinion in the blank spots that had nothing to do with the actual questions. It was rather upsetting. It wouldn’t be a bad idea if it could be done unbiased, but I don’t see that happening.

There are way more covering sets then there are revealing sets. Only light armor has a decent amount of revealing. Also, I’m a female and prefer the skimpier stuff. It isn’t just for the guys. And given that sylvari skin glows, and norns have tattoos, I’m really surprised they gimped on the revealing armor for medium and heavy.

I really hate how the backpacks look too. I want to look more like a lady instead of a mad scientist. I wish I could change the appearance of the flamethrower and elixir gun too, I rather have something more elegant. But then again, it is hard to find weapons that aren’t massive and over the top for some weapon types (especially GS). >.<

Also if I do have a back piece on it gets covered by the backpack, or worse it clips. Hair clipping is annoying too. It just seems odd that we can have an option for a back piece and we can’t use it if we are using a kit.

Someone linked this during the Halloween event to help with the Clocktower jumping puzzle. They said it helped them complete the jumping puzzle, and others claimed so too.

I didn’t make anymore progress on the Clocktower with the beta FOV. I’ve left the beta FOV on and did complete the Windersday puzzle. Can’t really say for sure if it helped me, but you could still give it a try if your having problems with the camera.

Also, I’d suggest looking at youtube videos of people doing the puzzle if you haven’t already.

Thanks for the input. I’ve been running around using pistols, flamethrower, elixir gun, and rocket turret. I can’t seem to get along with grenades because I have problems spotting my mouse cursor with it disappearing when I am adjusting the camera. Well, underwater they are great.

Before the grenade nerf I read a thread on a different forum about the best class to farm Cursed Shore events; such as Penitent and Shelter. Some said the Elementalist was the best, while others said the Engineer (using grenades) was the best. I have an 80 Elementalist and I have about as hard of time tagging mobs at the right moment as I do with my 80 Ranger. So I decided to roll an Engineer. I’m level 45 atm. However, I am having a hard time with killing mobs fast; and I’m not finding the class all that fun. I don’t mind continuing to level if at the end of it all, I can actually get more loot from farming cursed shores. I have no other reason I would want to play this class.

So I want to know the opinion on these forums if this class is good at farming Cursed Shore events (mainly Penitent and Shelter). I am aware of all the advise not to play an engineer, but my only purpose is for farming those locations. It hard to farm there with mobs being dead the moment they are no longer invulnerable. Thanks.

Tarnished Coast is what I picked because it was the unofficial RP server, but you don’t need to RP. I picked it because I knew RP servers tend to have nicer people. I did end up RPing a few times. But I’m not so good at RP. Sometimes I like to just watch others RP, it helps make the world feel a bit more alive. There will be bad apples on any server, but I have met more nice people.

The server is hard to get into, we have guild members that have been waiting to move over.

I have both of the monthly achievements done. I have only 9 of the special event achievements done, and I have 5 not completed. If there are 16 achievements in total I still have an extra one. I’m attaching screenshots.

I was just about to post that I had an extra achievement that I couldn’t find. Maybe this is where the extra comes from.

I do not agree this is like a f2p. The quality of guild wars 2 is far superior to a f2p. But guild wars 2 is defiantly grindy after 80. I’m leveling other characters at the moment, and that is fun. I just hate farming because it is grindy and unrewarding. The DR system makes it 100 times worse.

I play it 99% of the time with Nvidia 3D Vision on my laptop. The game’s stereoscopic 3D is not perfect yet, but it’s efficient.

Hmm, what do you make of this? This is on the same page at Massively. Do you have any idea how bad that makes them look? Discuss.

I believe it is because all MMOs on the market are a disappointment; there is no epic MMO. Personally I believe GW2 is the best MMO on the market, but I’m also very disappointed in some things concerning GW2. So it sounds right to me.

Personally, I find it sort of unprofessional to use social media to communicate when your a business. When I got my degree in graphic design, they told us to never connect our professional site to facebook, twitter, etc. Although these days I’m seeing it happen with other companies. I hate it.

My husband said he would game again if there was a VR rpg. I would really love to have my husband game with me again. But I doubt that will happen anytime soon…

Edit: I forgot to mention this game looks great with 3d vision. Some of the effects really pop out at you.

I stopped farming a bunch recently because I’ve been affected by this DR bug. I might buy a new account if this isn’t fixed in the next big update. I wasn’t effected by the patch in November, but I also didn’t start farming till mid November. I was getting an exotic at least every other night, but then when the patch at the beginning part of December happened, I stopped getting good drops. I don’t understand why the amount of gold I was making was a bad thing. I only have about 150 gold. I still haven’t bought full level 80 exotics or full T3 cultural armor. I defiantly won’t be getting the sword of infinite light. I have 8 characters, and they all need gold too. I am making about 25-50s an hour if I farm in Orr, anywhere else and it isn’t worth it. But I don’t spend much time there now. And it doesn’t seem like everyone is having bad loot. I asked in a group a while back and one guy had gotten 15+ rares and an exotic, while I got 3 rares.

I wouldn’t mind this DR so much if the DR wore off after a period of time. But I haven’t farmed that much for 2 weeks and I’m not seeing an improvement.

I recall hearing the “sounds” before the patch, but not to the level it is now.

I think it is because people complained about the free wizard hat being given to only new people. So they decided to charge for the ear muffs when they added the wizard hat. That’s my guess anyway. But 25 gems isn’t that much.

I haven’t even repeated the the new dungeon like I did the other one yesterday and I got the chest DR and I only got one present drop from a skritt mob. I only did the other instance 3 times yesterday.

Is there some 24 hour DR in place? I did the new one 6 hours earlier today. =(

As far as the presents, I have gotten some snowflakes, but mostly sweaters.

I asked others in my party and they all got something from the chest today, so I don’t know why I didn’t get anything. Oh and, I only got 1 drop from a mob today. I got lots yesterday…

Chest is all RNG. Both days I have only gotten junk, other friends have gotten exotics.

No, I’m not complaining about it being exotic or junk. The fact is I didn’t get even the junk I got yesterday. I got the same chest drops I would for repeating the Tixx instance, not doing a new instance.

Twilight is only worth roughly 1050g last i checked.

if you bought everything that could be bought.
minimum cost of any legendary is 120g for the 2 gifts/icy runestones.
funny enough items like Infinite Light are worth more than any legendary because of the lodestone price.

I could care less about legendaries, but I love the Infinite Light sword. I was shocked when I realized it would cost me so much. I’ve tried farming lodestones, but I’ve never had a single one drop. I’d settle for another sword that was long, thin, elegant and lady like, but there are like 2 others that are just too plain looking.

I’ve seen people with Bolt before, but never the Infinite Light.

I got to say I think it is bugged too. I was getting exotic drops at least every other night for a while after the patch on the November (if I farmed in Orr). I got 3 exotic drops one night. I was also getting plenty of rares. Then the patch at the beginning of this month seemed to cause my drops to be mostly bad. No more exotics and very few rares. I talked to some people in a farming party and some agreed the drops seemed nerfed while others said they had gotten 15+ rares and an exotic. I had gotten maybe 2 or 3 rares. Crafting materials were also dropping less. I haven’t farmed much yet since the resent patch, so I have no idea if it is still bad for me.

I am wondering if something is buggy with the DR system.

I’m on Tarnished Coast. Yea, it was on a new character I made, but there were no events. The model was just standing there.

I just went back there to see if it was still there after the patch and it isn’t anymore. =(

Also thought that if a player has a keylogger on their machine, it could possibly catch the PIN, so maybe a small graphic of a keypad would pop up and you’d just click on the numbers to enter them.

I’ve seen this done before, and think it is a good idea.

I’m a female in my late 20’s and I love skimpy armor. I can’t play an MMO without skimpy armor. I really don’t get this stereotyping that only immature males have scantly clad females; and females have fully covered females. My husband used to dress his characters in sexy stuff when he played MMOs. I don’t think he is immature or weird for doing it. It was fun playing with him because we would go after the same outfits. I wear sexy armor because I want to look sexy. I don’t think skimpy armor is sexist and degrading. If anything I consider it empowering. I want to make heads turn. Well, not so much in video games, but in real life I actually like being hit on. In real life though I can’t wear stuff like that, and wouldn’t because I know it is way to inappropriate. That and I’m married now. But with the fantasy setting, I can actually wear what I would love to wear in real life if I could get away with it.

My favorite outfit I had in a MMO was in AoC. I wore sandals, a headband, and a loincloth. That was it. I felt very “free” with no top on whatsoever. It was awesome fun. And I loved the guys that ran around in just a loincloth too.

I don’t expect Guild Wars to ever have mature levels of skimpy armor, but it would be nice to see more skimpy options especially in the medium armor. Heavy armor I think lacks too when it comes to the humans. Also most heavy armor looks bulky and I want something form fitting like the gladiator set from GW1. But it is important to have as much variety as possible. While I do want more skimpy armor, if everyone was in skimpy armor then I wouldn’t feel special (Tera is an example of that).

In the area where you assist Arias’s heart quest, the dragon from the sylvari intro is standing still on the ground. The camera is also messed up when you turn into an oakheart. The camera adjusts like your going to battle the dragon.

Although I kind of like it, it looks cool.

I think we need a PTR. It will help with the bugs and help keep content out that players are going to hate. I am scared of these surprise content patches that I know nothing about. Will it hurt the game or make it better? We don’t know till it is released and nothing can be done about it.

Why would they have a promo for new players if the servers are all full?
It seems like a bad idea to me. I think they need to rework the servers.

I have to agree with this. I used to be very disappointed in the medium armor, but eventually I found something I liked. T3 human cultural top with vigil leggings looks great. Although since the patch they messed up the leggings and there is an invisible line around my stomach.

Weapons on the other hand, I’m having great problems finding something that works for my character, and part of the problems is the inability to dye weapons. I don’t want to dye my cloths around my weapons. Also I don’t think I will get weapons I feel matches my character. Last I checked the sword and bow I want each would cost at a minimum of 400g each, although prices for material have gone up, so it might be double that. I will never have that kind of money and even if I did, the sword wouldn’t have the glow color I’d prefer. So I think I’m stuck with weapons that don’t match my character.

My husband refused to buy the game when he heard there would be no healing class. He is just a casual gamer. So his decision was not based off of WoW. He hates the concept of raiding as much as I do. His gaming experience started long before MMOs and he has played D&D for years; much longer then I have. While I am not that disappointed in Anet’s decision, it affected my husband’s decision. It would have been nice if there could have been some way to make it so healers could have been in GW2 without affecting grouping. But I’ve heard people are picky about some classes for grouping anyway. So I’m not sure they really fixed the problem; but then I haven’t run dungeons yet so I wouldn’t know for sure.

Well if it as bad as I’m hearing, I’m OK with not doing it. I just hope when they add on to the story-line later, I won’t be blocked from doing new story missions. I’ll be rather annoyed if I am.

On twitter they said they will let us know when the maintenance is over, so there seems to be no ETA. And they posted that message about 30 minutes ago.

They announced the maintenance in game earlier, but I don’t know when it ends.

I’m having the same problem. When is the maintenance supposed to end?

I agree, although I’d replace cannot with won’t.

Although it would be so nice to create your own content in GW2 or any MMO for that matter, like you can in D&D.

@Araushnee Many of us have social anxiety in the guild, including feeling shy or awkward in large groups, having trouble speaking up, and feeling nervous joining groups. Although we also welcome anyone with any kind of anxiety whether it affects them in game or not. And you’ll never be pressured to use any kind of voice chat.

Although we’re starting to do explorable dungeons now, we are still scheduling story runs as members need and we often have members willing to repeat story mode to help out newer members. This week we have Twilight Arbor Story Mode scheduled on Friday night and Honor of the Waves Explorable on Saturday night.

I think I’m interested then. I’ll look you all up later today when I login. =)
