agreed with op. imo utilities should just be invulnerable and work like wells do. sb needs more utility. citadel bombardment should work like a condi version of meteor shower (artillery doesn’t fire straight at their targets, that’s why it’s called indirect fire).

I don’t foresee anything getting fixed. We’ve been asking them to fix ventari for years and all we get is “Project Tranquility will now instantly activate when invoking this legend”.

played it for the past 5 hours only wvw. for a wvw player the bow is a nice addition (could use some tweaks but not bad) but the skills are awful. It seems to me if they made the renegade spirits invulnerable then that would make a world of difference (and it would make sense because they are ghost after all). As is, they just die when summoned from all the aoe. If it remains this way i could see this, at best, as just using the trait line without the legend, which would be a real bummer because then i wouldn’t have access to dragon stance.

I know this has been addressed on these forums before so i can only conclude that the vengeful hammers disappearing upon hitting a wall is by design, but either way it needs to be fixed. i run a dwarf build that relies on VH and even so much as uneven terrain will make them not work. just let them clip through walls already.

It affects gameplay because the effect can cover red circles and cues for certain skills or abilities.

Except it doesn’t cover them. The red circles still show up bright red over the top of the aura.

Except it’s hardly noticeable if that is indeed the case, during Teq my herald is the only character I cannot properly see red circles, I can see them just fine on any other character I play on.

Well I’m sorry you can’t see the bright red circles. I certainly don’t have trouble seeing them. Like I said the only proper solution to this is for anet to add a option in the graphics setting to toggle the visuals.

The circle is really jarring and stands out within the GW2 world, in a bad way. The dragon graphic on it is terrible. Sorry to whomever designed it, but it is absolutely appalling to look at, within Guild Wars 2. It looks like the kind of thing a beginner with Photoshop would draw and it stretches on different surfaces.. ugh.. no, please ArenaNet, re-design that hideous monstrosity. I liked the idea of floating 3D crystals of some sort.

It’s laughable anyone thinks that effect is fine as it is. Look at that beautiful stretching.

It’s called an opinion, better get used to it. Personally I love the design, but I could do without the sound, and I understand why people would want them gone. An option to toggle them would be the only choice.

Does it bother anyone else when you see a shoulder piece that looks amazing but it only applies to just one shoulder. I know anet likes to make their one-sided shoulder pieces, but i was kinda hoping that wouldn’t be the case for the herald shoulders. It just doesn’t make much sense, the warriors body would be completely off balance and weighed down to one side. I would like to see them change that for just this one shoulder piece at least so that it applies to both sides. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

I’m sure this has been talked to death about. I’ve been playing since launch and this is still a problem to today. Of course i’m talking about the clowns that like to throw random siege down in front of a gate or in inconvenient locations. If anet will not do anything about it, then they should at least attach the players name to the siege so the zerg can shame and report that person.

Be quite a long time since i played. I used to run D/D thief in WvW all the time. I been playing all day and found it hard to kill people now. So am i just out of practice or has the thief been nerfed all to hell?

Also, to SBI, please be aware that we wholly understand the concept of the “village idiot.” We had ours, and granted he wasn’t banned because of spying, sadly, just because he was an kitten . I, personally, don’t see your server as a bunch of idiots simply because this guy is an idiot.

I still very much enjoy the fun we have during our match-ups. Hope it stays that way.

Thank you for your understanding. I irritates me that so many of my own are making excuses for losing here and in the public chat. It really only sets the standard for more hate towards SBI. If were not having fun even when we are losing, then what is the point of playing.

WvWer’s have to deal with PvE in their PvP content and that’s not even an option to turn off. People just deal with it. Just like they would with duels.

in your point of view, up until now he has said nothing to compromise anything while still staying so stubborn on forcing things in ppl’s face.
also, you can also simply deal with the fact that there is already a duel option, you can deal with the fact that duels in the open PvE world disrupts someone’s fun this should not happen.

My idea is to make it so no server can have more than 10 players more than the lowest server of the three (in one area, not worldwide). fix the queue so it’s first come first serve, and don’t post the match-ups so no one knows who they will fight next.

Example:
Server A – 60 players
Server B – 60 players
Server C – 50 players

If 1 person from server C leaves, then 1 person (whoever has been playing the longest) gets kicked from servers A and B. This will keep the coverage even, and in theory would make people transfer to lower servers to be able to play. I don’t know how this would work in practice, but it sounds good in my head.

That’s horrible, imagine playing (after some long duration of waiting) just to get kicked, because some other guy is annoyed of losing! DCs are bad enough, don’t implement designed kicks.

AND: Somewhere in the CDI-thread (regarding a similar suggestion) ANet said they won’t implement ideas which include blocking players from playing. I said it already and I’ll say it again: No one should be forced to change a server, there must be other ways to balance populations.

well like i said, you would only get kicked for playing the longest. so when you immediately join, you’d still have 50 or so people to get kicked first. Or just take away the kicking entirely and just make it so no one else can join until the servers level out.

There already is a queue which blocks players from playing so that’s just silly. No one is being forced to change server with my idea, they should just be motivated to chance in order to play more.

I honestly don’t see them finding balance any other way. So good luck.

Golem’s are already bad enough as is when you have to face against 20-50 at one time. I would agree on moving other siege around only if it had a significant speed reduction and mesmers couldn’t port them. That way you could just make small adjustments if needed and not just zergs building siege inside keeps and running all over WvW with them.

Well it seemed like a good option because of the higher crit damage. Mix that with hidden killer in theory could cover the lack of overall damage. But i guess i’ll stick with my assassin’s gear. Thanks for the input.

So for the past month i have been trying out every thief build imaginable to find what works best for me. I’ve done condition builds and damage build alike. Right now i am using D/D Assassin gear build and it works well, but my survivability leaves something to be desired. I am considering a Celestial build, but i cannot just outright buy this gear and it will take some time to craft. So i want to ask the community if anyone knows if a fully celestial build (any weapon set) works well for thieves? I’m not just looking for numbers either, I would like some input from people who have actually tested this build.

I’m mostly WvW if that helps.

i do wonder, why do ppl want to ruin it for PvE players while you have WvW?
i mean, if duels are possible there then i don’t mind, it doesn’t affect me since i barely go there at all.

so instead of people dueling in vast, empty open world environments, you think it would be better for people to sit around and duel in WvW, which at least on my server, generally has a queue.

That is beside the point though, because dueling will not “ruin it for PvE players.” However, your suggestion would actually ruin it for WvW players.

and how would it ruin it for WvW players ey?
if it holds a spot so what, it’s the same exact thing in PvE.
when around 100 players are in one area (let’s say queensdale) you’re holding s spot on the server, the rest has to move in the overflow server.
in WvW you expect PvP, that’s why you go there.
in PvE you expect a story in an open world with monsters and NPC enemies, that’s why you go there.

ps. it’s not a fast empty in PvE where i am, maybe you’re in a general PvP server but i am in quite a full PvE server.

your server (no matter which server it is) does not have constant overflow on every map, and even if it did, Overflow maps have the exact same content as the regular one. At least when in a queue for PvE you can still play the game. as intended. WvW players have to wait when they have a queue, for possibly hours. You might as well go complain about the champ farmers in queensdale “holding up your spot”.

We already have sPvP for an “arena” and WvW is not the place for dueling. The only logical thing to do is add an option in open world, away from cities, that can be toggled on and off in the options. Once again, dueling does not interfere with PvE. It’s does not “cause problems”. It is not this unholy evil that you make it out to be.

1.) duel arena’s
2.) duels possible in WvW
3.) no duels at all
4.) a duel is teleported to an arena
which one is it gonna be, open world duels in PvE is a bad idea, period, so it’s up to you to accept alternatives.

I pretty sure it’s not up to you to give choices. Open world dueling is most likely going to happen whether you want it to or not.

There’s plenty of good reasons and many of them have been stated on this very thread. You have simply chosen to ignore them.

Still, if you insist that this game somehow needs a cut-and-paste mechanic that only serves the interests of trolls and people who feel the need to show off every five seconds, then perhaps there should be a price tag attached – say ten gems per duel invite. Should cut down on the annoying in-game spam that duel requests would inevitably lead to.

Where did I say i speak for the entire community? And yes, i am ignoring your reasons, because it’s just the same hashed out reason over and over that you people blow up to be a big deal when it’s not. Even you put the same reason in your post. Your story doesn’t make it sound like there was much of an alliance between BP and AR. If you focused AR and BP didn’t come to help then it wasn’t really an alliance. It also sounds like you started in a strong lead before this “alliance” was formed, different scenario from an alliance starting out from the beginning, but maybe i’m miss reading your story?

What have we learned (from the perspective of a Yak’s Bend grunt):

- Coverage matters, but politics and strategy can overcome a larger server

- Alliances are not cheating, but explicitly part of the design for WvW (the relevant dev quotes are repeated upthread)

- Some folks engage in actual cheating. It’s shameful. Responsible guilds will work to control the supply-trolls, and hopefully ANet will help here as well. If this gets out of hand, it could really hurt WvW

- Winning and losing have tremendous momentum, due to the ‘fairweather effect’

- Folks in WvW for the fights loved this matchup, as nobody lacked for targets for long. Folks in WvW for the PPT reacted based on how big their PPT was at any given time

- Yak’s commanders did a really good job. I was impressed with their coordination

- Yaks is good at siege and golems. Some people tend to call siege cheap, as opposed to open-field fights. Similar thinking led to the glorious French victory at Agincourt

- Yes, the above was sarcasm

- This week was far more interesting than the usual one-sided stompfests we’ve gotten in leagues

I wish I could spectate part of the match between SBI and FA next week. I am curious to see how SBI reacts, and whether they change their tactics

I don’t know what exactly we are suppose to learn? We could still take both of you on easily without one of you there to hold the other. There really is nothing to be done, as there is no way any 1 army can stand against 2. All we can do is move on.

I posted yesterday saying YB deserved the win and most of them were honorable etc etc …but after todays ‘gifts’ to EB I deleted it. Not sour grapes; the match to YB was lost but giving EB the undeserved 2nd is quite frankly pathetic. Sorry to all those who gave us a genuine run this week but you should be ashamed of todays tactics especially the trolls. To those of you who did play fair this week you guys n gals should probably consider another server.

I agree, but it wouldn’t be an alliance if YB didn’t help EB get something out of it. All in all, i couldn’t care less. Soon all our chest-beaters will transfer to their servers and become their chest-beaters and the whole cycle will repeat itself. I’m just angry at all the fairweathers we have.

I just provided you with a reason. The problem is that you don’t want to hear it. You’re so focused on not having it that you fail to listen to reason. Dueling allows for something optional to do in open world. you think your going to get trolled by other players, but you’re not. You think it’s such a burden for you when you are PvEing and see someone dueling, but you could just walk right past them and keep enjoying your PvE. Your whole argument is childish and selfish to say that it’s not your problem. WvW’ers are having to deal with PvE in WvW content (IE: Living Story), so it’s not like they haven’t broke the formula already anyway.

All the good reason’s to have duels are typed out all over this forum, you just don’t read them. And all the bad reason’s are the same pointless arguments over and over again, that really don’t justify not allowing dueling.

I know that many people want to duel others in their PvE getups, and I’m fine with that, but I do think it should be limited to designated areas.

Yes, just like there’s an auto-decline option for parties and guild invites. Oh wait.

Even if you could auto-decline, the spamming dueller will still insist on harassing you through other means – whispers, map chat, bunny-hopping around your character and following you on the broken contacts list, knowing exactly where you are, even when blocked.

This doesn’t happen. I will give you that it is entirely possible, but only within the realm of fantastic hypotheticals that get parroted in these threads. And it doesn’t happen nearly enough for it to be the reason to dis-allow duels.

I mean, how often do you get party/guild invite harassed? Yes it’s possible, but does it happen enough to warrant removing party invites altogether?

Except, it does as it’s happened to me and a few other people on here as we have repeatedly said in these threads. I know you are getting desperate in your demands for duels, and that as far as you’re concerned, the only valid arguments in this discussion are those that support your position, but you can refrain from accusing me and others like me of being liars and fantasists. Thank you.

I find its a weird coincidence that the people that don’t want to see duels also happen to be the only people that are constantly harassed when they decline duels and are somehow magnets for “duel spammers.” Some would call it perceptual bias.

I will still maintain that a fear of people “constantly wanting to duel you” is not a strong argument against allowing duels in the game. You’re basically coming up with the most extreme, negative situation possible and making it seem like it would be common-place. Especially since it is very likely they would have an ignore/auto-decline duel option.

If a fear of being harassed by duel spam is that big a deal, i honestly don’t know how you’ve made it this far in the game with all the other things that could be potentially abused. I mean, it’s entirely possible for someone to invite spam you, guild invite spam you, spam your mail box, follow you around and spam your /s chat, etc.

This argument could be used for everything, because there is always a fantastic possibility someone could single you out and harass you to the extreme for no reason. But in reality this situation is an outlier and almost never happens…except for that one time in WoW you read about and feel the need to use it as an example when it supports your argument.

You don’t even know what server i’m on so how can you make this claim? I’m on a mid level silver league server. the fact is that dueling in WvW is a problem everywhere.

No no no no no i will uninstall this game immediately if open world dueling is added. Anet would miss out on my regular gem purchses then. Go to pvp or wvw if you want to duel.

Really? a Dueling option is the thing that makes you quit? I don’t think you’re going to be around much longer then, and i really don’t think anet is concerned about your gem purchases.

You nah-sayers are overreacting. I agree that I wouldn’t want dueling available in cities. But why not have an option available everywhere else? Just as long as there is an option to disable invites. “Oh but people would harass me into dueling them”, this really isn’t as big a deal as some of you blow it up to be, and would rarely happen. If it does, report them. This would also help resolve people dueling in WvW and holding up the que for people who actually want to Play WvW properly.

Nah-sayers really have no reasonable argument as to why this shouldn’t be implemented.

Your definition of honorable doesn’t necessarily reflect others. Everyone will run when the odds are not in their favor, and there is no dishonor in that. Dueling in WvW is always stupid. Red is Dead, and i will always help my teammate.
