Champion Risen Drake?

So I just need the Orrian Drake Scale to complete the Siren’s Landing Master collection for the new legendary trinket, but I have no idea where the darned thing spawns. I assumed it was along the water where the other drakes are, but I’ve never seen it, and I’ve asked multiple times in map chat but never had an answer.

Could someone who has completed the collection kindly tell me where & when the champ drake spawns?

Level-80 Boost & Shared Inventory Slot

Sure, I get that I can just use it on an 80 to free up the shared inventory slot, but that strikes me as a bit of a waste. What if I want to save the Boost, say for the next expansion and Tengu (hey, I fella can dream).

My gripe remains: the only way to remove that Level-80 Boost from the Shared Inventory slot is to use it, when I can see no reason why I can’t simply put it in my bank until I actually do want to use it.

Level-80 Boost & Shared Inventory Slot

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ash.5274

So after a bit of a break from GW2 I came back in time for Living World Season 3 to find a Level-80 Boost in my new Shared Inventory Slot. Now, both of those are nice additions to the game, however I’ve run into a very annoying issue.

I’ve purchased the Bloodstone Fen Portal Scroll with the intention of allowing my alts to easily access the new map, and I assumed I could just swap out the Level-80 Boost and have the scroll in the Shared Inventory slot. Not so. When I tried to remove the Level-80 Boost, I got a message stating that it cannot be removed until it is consumed.

Here’s the problem. I don’t want to consume it. I have a level 80 of each profession, and no desire to have another, atm. For that matter, I don’t even have a free character slot even if I did want another 80. But the only way to free up that Shared slot for the Bloodstone Fen scroll is to consume the Level-80 Boost.

Why can’t we just move the Level-80 Boost to our bank if we have no plans to use it? As it stands I’ll need to buy a second Shared Inventory slot, or buy a new character slot to have a character to use the Boost on (or delete a character), neither of which I want – or should be forced – to do.

Yes, I know the story steps to get to Bloodstone Fen are quick and easy, but that’s beside the point. The point is, the Level-80 Boost is locked into the Shared Inventory slot until consumed, when we should just be able to move it elsewhere without issue.

So this happened earlier today. I ran into another player in Fields of Ruin while I was out gathering soft wood, and he/she commented on my Mastery rank, which is currently 150. They basically asked how much CoF farming I had to do on my way to getting my rank so high. Which annoys me, as I haven’t done a single second of CoF farming, or spider farming in Verdant Brink, or any other manner of farming – all I’ve done is play the game (quite a lot, admittedly), helped along here and there with various methods of xp boosting.

So is this a thing, now? The assumption that a high or reasonably high Mastery rank automatically means that player must have CoF/spider farmed? Which is pretty sad, if true. There’s supposed to be some degree of prestige to Mastery ranks, at least as I perceive it, and while I don’t really mind if other players want to farm CoF/spiders for hours to max their Mastery lines (… ok, I’ll admit it, it bothers me a little bit) I do mind people assuming that’s how I earned mine.

Not sure if it’s been posted anywhere already (likely it has), but there are odd issues with Dragon’s Brand. 5 or 6 times now I’ve been in a full, active map running the events when I get the prompt window inviting me to move to a different map – which should only happen if the map you’re in is pretty much empty. Others in map chat have mentioned this too.

And now to add to that, just now we were in a full map, on the 3 towers phase, all going well, when suddenly we’re all transported to a new, empty map. Seems like some kind of mega server issue, but it was frustrating as hell to be 75% through the event and to have all that progress wiped.

Edit: I should add this was on EU (my server is Gandara).

I can’t check right now because I’m at work, but if I remember correctly you can grab that one by hopping to the Leyline Confluence waypoint and running north-west through the nuhoch lane?

Tried that already, there’s a blue circular barrier (larger version of the ones you encounter in the story mission I think) preventing access. Haven’t spent enough time in the map to know if the barrier goes away/you break it as part of the map meta events.

So there’s one poi standing between me and 100% map completion of Tangled Depths, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get to it. It’s driving me nuts. I’ve tried to reach it from each of the 4 ‘levels’ that you can toggle on the map, but it’s either always above me or always below me no matter where I come at it from. Screenshot of the poi in question below; I’m sure it’s something stupidly obvious, but if somebody can help me out with a guide to reach it I’d be grateful.

Yup, here to, error code 1083:5:7:1595:101

Gave up trying to play last night after constant errors, woke up to a patch, now getting the above error once I get to character select. Tried repairing the client, and afterwards it took far longer than usual to even log in. Connection fine otherwise, so no issues on my end.

Edit: managed to load a character in after being stuck on the map loading screen for about 2 minutes; however had 0 ping, so the game was unplayable anyway.

I’m having trouble figuring out how to reach the poi and mastery point above Tarir – if you look at the map they’re both ‘above’ (they have the little blue up arrow) the west section of the city. I’ve asked in map chat but I keep getting directed to the updrafts you use to reach the hero challenge – people are either confusing hero challenges and mastery points, or I do need to use the same updrafts, in which case I’m clearly missing something.

So if anyone can provide some clear, concise guidance on how to nab that poi and mastery point (NOT hero challenge!), I can finally go back to my favorite pastime in Auric Basin – rushing into a pack of pocket raptors and laying waste with reaper shroud #4. Blessed Grenth, I love my Reaper.

Edit: Yes, I know I misspelled Tarir in the topic title, don’t hold it against me.

Possible Solution to the Hero Point Debacle

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Ash.5274

i think changing this would be a really bad thing for the game. pre launch there was not much reason to group up outside of very specific cirucmstances. with the new areas there are both the events and meta events requiring cooperation on a large scale and hero points requiring cooperation on a small scale. the event hero points give rewards even if youve already done them so people wont be discouraged from helping out, plus everyone will need them to unlock their elite spec

What are we suppose to do if there’s no one around? What about a couple months from now?

This is something I’ve been worried about too. Jump ahead 3, or 6 months from now; all the HoT hype has died down, far fewer players in-game or they’re off enjoying new content elsewhere, then completing some of this content will be next to impossible. I’m taking my time playing through all the zones on my main, but I’m already starting to wonder if it will be possible to do the same with any, never mind all 8 of my alts …

What I don’t want though is to see all the difficult hero challenges nerfed into the ground. They reward 10 points: there should be a degree of challenge involved, whether that challenge comes from reaching them in the first place, needing to earn specific masteries, or completing them once you get there.

Maybe another possible long-term solution is making the bosses for the combat-based masteries Elite if you have to solo them, rather then Champions, but they’ll scale up to Champs if there’s more than one player there.

Ash.5274

This is an extra to what I posted previously, I have very temporarily installed a VPN service to check if it is simply routing issues, and guess what? no lag whatsoever. My gaming experience is exactly what it should be.

HOWEVER. I have been informed by good members of my guild that VPN services are frowned upon as they are used by goldsellers etc and often result in user accounts being banned.

I am ONLY using the VPN to show that this service fixes my gaming experience.

I’m in the same position – getting nowhere trying to address the issue with EE, downloaded and installed Hotspot Shield as a fallback measure; I’ve connected with it twice, and yes, the insane ping issues were nowhere to be found.

That said I’m very conscious of the potential pitfalls of using a VPN, and if I do resort to using Hotspot Shield during the effected hours (approx. 6 PM – midnight, BST) it will only be until the switchover from EE to BT takes effect – EE haven’t give me any indication they’ll even acknowledge the problem is on their end let alone try to resolve it, so gg, they’ve lost me as a customer.

As for GW2, until BT takes over my choices are either a) not play at all during the 6-7 hours when the problem occurs – which is the primary time of day I usually can play – or b) use Hotspot Shield and hope doing so doesn’t result in losing my account.

after seeing this post i honestly think there is no point in contacting them because they are not going to do anything about it.

This is the exact opposite of what you should be doing, I just got off the phone with them again and they are monitoring the connections of the landline numbers I gave him but he reiterated that the more numbers he gets the more likely it is they will get off their butts so to speak and figure out the problem. The more customers affected the more likely they will lose business to people leaving EE, so it’s in their interests to fix it ASAP if it’s a lot of people.

Apparently the engineers are monitoring the connection today for 24 hours, so he’s calling back tomorrow with any updates they’ve found. In the meantime, continue to send any landline numbers to me via private message, or call them yourselves and report the problem with as much detail and reference to other customers as possible.

Thanks for the update.

As for me I’ve already taken the plunge and made arrangements to switch provider – the shoddy response I got from EE ‘support’ once I was able to speak to someone sealed that deal. That won’t happen til after HoT launches unfortunately, so if I’m still experiencing the same issues by the end of the week I’ll try Hotspot Shield until the switchover happens.

I am genuinely confused about whether people are seeing my posts or not.

As I have now posted 3 times that I have found a way to combat the peak time disconnecting, yes you still have 2-400 ping, but AT MOST (And I timed it) It was a 1.3second delay. That’s not much at all considering.

I cannot simplify this anymore, you can continue to contact EE and Anet but honestly, neither side will fix it untill they see fit to do so. I have given a solution and it is a ridiculously easy solution, its a 3 minute install on your computer AND you only have to turn it on when peak time starts, and you can go right back into playing the game.

Personally I have downloaded HotspotShield and will resort to using it if no actual fix is found, though I consider having to play with up to 400 ping when previously I could expect 40-60 an absolute last resort.

Do appreciate you posting the suggestion however.

Meanwhile, I’ve contacted Anet support and I’ll try to get through to someone at EE again tomorrow.

This is becoming increasingly frustrating. Earlier this evening everything was fine, now it takes minutes to load into a map, and when I do I have zero ping, I can move but not activate any skills at all.

Whether it’s an issue with GW2, EE, or both, I just hope a solution emerges soon – before HoT launches, certainly. I’m actually half tempted to switch providers, if I could be certain the switchover would be in place before next Friday …

Ping Issues [merged]

I’ve also been experiencing horrendous ping issues over the past few days. Maps either refuse to load, load the audio first and then everything else minutes later, and once in-game the ping renders the game unplayable. Sometimes it seems to magically resolve itself and everything is fine, it happens at different times of the day, it happens with different characters and different maps. Below is an example, from just a few minutes ago:

This is only happening with Guild Wars 2, I’ve had no issues with other games or with my connection in general. I’m hoping it’s just a side-effect of all the HoT prep and it’ll be quickly resolved, but the fact it’s happening now, so close to the release of the expansion, is certainly worrying.

BW3 Difficulty Nerf [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Ash.5274

I really disagree. Open world should be about exploration and minor challenges. For me the nerf to Orr was perfect. No one likes to go through a hundred challenging fights to get to somewhere. After a while it just becomes a drag.

If you want challenges, they’re there in raids.

Actually, I’d argue that the balance we experienced in BWE 2 provided just enough challenge; not faceroll easy (which it is in BWE 3) but you had to be aware of certain particularly nasty mobs and deal with them accordingly. During BWE 2 I was able to run/jump/glide around and experience as much of the map as I wanted, and knowing that if I wasn’t careful I’d be fodder for Mordy’s minions made the whole experience that much more fun and rewarding.

Currently, it feels far too close to being a level 80 running around a starter zone watching everything melt under auto attacks. Add the issues gaining/progressing masteries to that, and any desire I have to spend more time in Verdant Brink has nose-dived fast.

Perhaps it would have been better to have had a brief (2-4 hrs) stress test earlier in the week? Just a few hundred players – however many they’d need to functionally test things – to identify potential Beta-breaking issues and then have time to fix them for the actual beta …. but hey, that’s hindsight for you.

Cannot gain mastery points

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Ash.5274

Ash.5274

Exact same issue here. Mastery rank 2, spent those points on the first two gliding tiers, maxed out the first tier of Itzel Lore for jump mushrooms, but cannot find any functioning mastery point locations. I’ve reached 3 places on the map where there were mastery points during BWE 2, now there are none, even though the icons are still there on the map.

So now I have a maxed XP bar, but no way to spend the XP, and every few seconds there’s an increasingly annoying pop up directing me to spent the XP.

On a more general note (which doesn’t really belong here, but anyway) this, combined with the squad UI/raid issues and the seemingly mass nerf of every mob in Verdant Brink, has really soured what I’d hoped would be another great BWE experience (BWE 2 was terrific). A real shame, I’d been really looking forward to this.

On the whole, spot on analysis which echoes what the majority of people have been saying (on these forums, on Reddit, in-game).

As I was saying to someone in-game earlier today, we’re talking about a greatsword here – the damage should be devastating, not underwhelming. And the slow cast times would be acceptable if the payoff was hit-like-a-truck damage, but right now it isn’t.

I main necro and I’ve had a love/hate relationship with it for 3 years now, and for most of the BWE I played Reaper because I think there’s genuine potential there. Reaper shroud is where it shines (or pulses with green-tinged deadly intent) and if they can bring greatsword and shouts into line with it then we’ll have something pretty special.

I don’t know how big that if is though …

Tbh, day after day after day of Silverwastes and Dry Top farming with no portal to show for it has drained me of pretty much all enthusiasm for getting into the beta.

That said, I like the approach – it just needs tweaking. They should have made it 24 hrs (or even 48, to cut down on the inevitable qq) with a much higher drop rate for that 24 hr (or 48 hr) period. I think missing out wouldn’t hurt quite so much that way; as it is, I’m not even enjoying the content right now, I’m just grinding through it because there’s that stubborn part of me that won’t relinquish the slim hope that this time a portal will drop …

Ash.5274

Here’s my take. I’m a First. My PM, bless his cotton socks, gave me life and purpose and I love him for that. A few months shy of three years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Stepping out of the portal into Queensdale on that first bright morning, a little dizzy with the possibility of a whole new world waiting to be discovered … it was thrilling. Exhilarating.

Exhausting.

I tell ya, it was non-stop those first few months! We blitzed through Kryta and Ascalon and the Shiverpeaks, made the long trek to Maguuma Jungle and blitzed through there as well. Stretching ourselves, learning new skills, testing our mettle. By Wintersday that first year, you name it, I could craft it – I even learnt to cook (though never quite to love it). But the energy that propels you forward into the world only lasts so long. Sometimes you just gotta kick back and relax.

Which is why I wasn’t too upset when Kij came along. Mean with a bow, cutest little pet owl you could ever hope to meet. It was good to see a little of myself in her enthusiasm for all that lay before her, especially because it meant I could rest my aching feet (and yeah, summon a minion or two to fetch me another flagon of hunter’s ale while I was at it. Perks of being a Necromancer, what can I say). And after Kij there was Kristin, then Sayka, Sia and Jaxx and Jaxxa and boy, Tyria didn’t know what hit it!

But eventually – always – it would be my turn again.

It’s like I was saying to Jory in the Dead End Bar the other week – we’re a family. It isn’t a competition – or at least it shouldn’t be. We’re all on the same side, all driven by the same purpose. And nobody’s indestructible; we all get tired, we all need, sometimes, to head home for a spell, touch base with the people we care about – the people we fight for.

So, try to love those Alts. Don’t view them as replacements, look at them as allies. As friends.

Oh and one last word of advice: never challenge a Norn Warrior and a Norn Mesmer to a drinking competition at the same time. Trust me on this. You’ll lose. Badly.

Oh my aching head ….

in WvW

The following applies to both EotM and the ‘main’ WvW maps, though I do find the problem is not always as bad in EotM: -

1) Primarily skill lag: at best, 2-4 second delays between pressing a key and the skill activating, at worst skills simply not activating at all (I have noticed this especially with healing and elite skills).

2) Blackgate (however I have experienced skill lag and rubber-banding on my previous server, Ehmry Bay).

3) No

4)No. When I’m experiencing it, map chat indicates others are too.

5) Large zerg encounters – 30 + players – always result in lag for me. Often I can feel the lag start to take effect as I approach the battle.

I will also add that I’m an EU (UK) player playing on an NA server, and while I have experienced lag occasionally in PVE, it is nowhere near as bad or as frequent.

Achievements are not bugged, you just need to make sure you get enough damange on the head. The damage numbers you are seeing can often come from adds.

It is like any other event, if you do not do enough damange you won’t get the chest / achievement.

If it were bugged no one could get them. And the majority of players actually gets credit when a head is killed. For me it was perfect on every three heads the first time I killed each.

Again congrats to the second kill to everyone who participated. Now let’s make it farmable. Still need that mini xD

I still prefer that the title would only be available to teams that actually killed the head. But I understand why is was done this way, so that people can get the title without hoping for other team to do the kill as well (see Marionette Dodging Frustrations)

I did a fair good job of playing whack-a-mole with that cobalt head and got the screenie showing it, but didn’t get the achievement as most others on BG Cobalt tonight didn’t either.

Likewise, I didn’t get credit for defeating the Cobalt head during the successful attempt, but we went again 2 hours later, defeated the Cobalt head again, only this time I did get credit. I saw at least a couple of people post in chat that they also got credit the second time when they hadn’t the first time.

I have a title suggestion – Gibbering Wreck. And I haven’t even completed Trib mode yet!

Though actually, don’t the different coloured weapon skins kinda serve as an indication that you’ve beaten Trib mode? Completed all the zones, at least. That’s something.

Is it too hard? Respect the awesome work

I only got into SAB after the patch, so I don’t know how significant the changes were, but I can say I’ve found sections of it very difficult. Times ‘very difficult’ by around a billion for Tribulation mode.

But that’s the nature of things; some folk find this kind of challenge a breeze – anyone who can get though any of the Trib zones with zero deaths, I am in awe of you – while others find it a struggle getting from one checkpoint to the next without dying multiple times.

At the end of the day though, as frustrating as I have found it at times (as much due to my own lack of skill, let’s be honest), I have, on the whole, enjoyed SAB. I’ve completed World 1 Zones 1 and 2 in Trib mode, and fully intend to complete Zone 3 and then World 2. And many, many more death will ensue.

I saw somewhere that you can turn up your gamma to view the clouds easier for Moto’s Finger. I have not tried it myself. I zoomed in my camera, which helped a little.

Yup, someone in chat suggested scaling down my gamma, and it helped quite a bit. Finally managed it solo, but heck it wasn’t easy. Got everything now aside from all the W2 Z3 baubles, which I’ll happily live without.

Easy mode 31/33?

I was also stuck at 32/33, and for some reason the achievement only popped when I completed normal mode (did infantile first to get an idea of what to expect). Maybe useful for anyone in the same boat and yet to run world 2 in normal mode.

So I’m confused.

In order to get the meta Major in Achievement you need 13 of the 16 (meta being the 17th) possible achievements, correct?

I have the following:

- Academic
- Associate of Secrets
- Associate of Baubles
- Special Instruction
- It was an Ambush
- Tiptoe
- Super Adventure Secret
- Bachelor of Secrets
- Baby’s Second Super Adventure
- Bachelor of Baubles
- Become the Master
- Wings of Justice
- Professional Ice Skater

Which is 13 – only missing Major in Enhancement, Master of Secrets, and Master of Baubles.

Yet my meta progress towards Major in Achievement is stuck at 12/13.

So is this a known issue, or intended, or what? I’m really, really hoping it is a bug, because in order to get Major in Enhancement, Master of Secrets and Master of Baubles you need to access the room where Moto’s Finger is, and I have pretty much given up ever getting in there. It’s a vision issue; I just can’t see the clouds I need to jump to clearly enough to get to them. All three of the achievements I’m missing require access to that room, so if I have to get in in order to get 13/13 and Major in Achievement, I’m screwed.

Zojja’s Claymore.

I was going to wait a couple more days, but I caved and bought the last deldrimor steel ingots from the TP once I had everything else. And here it is:

most fun class

You’ll find people willing to argue that every class is the most fun to play. The good thing is, it’s no hassle at all to create a new charcater/class, hop into PVP, and see how you find it. Don’t like? Delete that character/class and try another.

For me though, I have most fun with my mesmer. Or is it my ranger? Although, my necro is a lot of fun too …. :p

Empyreal Dragonite Drop Amount

As far as dragonite goes, I find it odd that it will be the thing holding most people back from getting their ascended weapons done quickly. I assume they intended people to do all the mega bosses and then jump into wvw daily?

Yeah, this has been my realization too. Had more than enough Bloodstone Dust after saving a whole bunch of invasion chests and opening them post-patch, finished off the Empyreal Star today after using my alts to tour the chests in PVE for fragments … but still need almost 300 Dragonite Ore.

But I guess I shouldn’t really be too worried, as I still need to craft 6 Deldrimor Steel ingots (3 each for a GS hilt and blade), and I can only craft one of those per day. So over the next 6 days, if I focus on the high-level world bosses and maybe a temple or two, I should have what I need for the last 3 Dragonite ingots.
