My soul for the Stalwart shoulders. Are we getting a way to get these armor pieces again? Or earn them in PVP? If not can you at least stop making them look so kitten good with all my medium armor toons?

With no crafting of them anymore, I’m curious if there is still a way to get items like the Stalwart set? I’ve seen similar things asked again and again and no answer.

Why can't we equip all weight class clothing?

If I recall correctly this is one of the reasons ArenaNet doesn’t allow the former Town Clothes to be worn individualy: because there would be massive clipping problems with a lot of the existing items if they did.

Yep! Town clothes primarily follow light armor “cuts” I believe, so they wouldn’t mesh with medium and heavy. OP I don’t know if you were playing early on in the game but you used to be able to preview all armor classes together. The clipping was horrendous, there was simply no way you could mix armor classes without rendering the look of the armor useless.

Yeah, that and Commander’s gloves and boots. Also, the light Masquerade armor set.

This 100%

Oh yeah, this all the way. Now that PvP/PvP armor is unified, we need a way to acquire these armor sets, and I hope it’ll be reasonable. I’ve been pleading for the Tribal armor set everywhere I can, and still am. I really hope we see this soon. Like, real soon.

Hell I’d take a grind over having to go through Spvp hoping that the shoulders I need are in a box. If I can get through a match while getting splattered on it. At very least it would be nice to have /some/ other way of getting the set than the boxes now they’ve taken away the crafting…. :/

As armors have now been merged I’m curious if there will be a way to gain sets like Stalwart medium armor in Pve, crafting or others? If not is the only way to gain it now through rng in the reward chests? Spvp is incredibly stressful for me and I would appreciate knowing if I have to throw myself at it or not to get the Stalwart shoulders.

New Wardrobe was not what I expected

It’s little different than grinding for any other cosmetic item in the game. I could grind the gold to convert to gems for a piece of armor or a packet of transmute crystals in the time that it would take me to pug Arah enough to get a full set of Arah armor. You pay for convenience but there’s nothing stopping you earning the gold for the items as well. Having a goal isn’t terrible.

New Wardrobe was not what I expected

This is not a Q/A post.

As soon as I saw the headline today, I thought ‘wow, we’re going to have a dedicated place to store extra pieces of armor, instead of having to carry them in inventory or having them take space in bank! Now I can think about building multiple (more than 2) armor sets for ALL my characters

And then I realised it’s just for skins and it’s designed to make it easy for people to spend more money in transmutations…

There are good things it these changes though. But I can’t help but feel that, in a game that is supposed to be fun, relaxing and enjoyable, people are constantly feeling the pressure to buy all those things and the need to grind/spend real money to have them. Maybe eventually the pleasure becomes spoiled by stress and dissatisfaction and people will start to wander off to other games…

I’m really not sure if we’re playing the same game here. There’s really no need for a place to store extra sets. If you want 2+ sets on your characters you pay in the inconvenience of having to keep them in your bags. Really it’s as simple as getting bigger bags which doesn’t take a whole lot of grinding. Also have you never heard of a wardrobe feature in a game before? Skins is pretty much how they work.

The end game since the beginning has been said to be, at least partially, cosmetic. Baring a few specific stat combinations, grinding dungeon tokens is almost solely for having the cosmetic skin.

You can get transmute stones or crystals through exploring or converting gold to gems without even spending real money. There’s not really pressure to get any of it. Pressure would suggest that to be good at the game you need those items while they are purely cosmetic.

I’m an rper, I’m purely about cosmetic and I can’t say I’ve ever felt pressured to get anything from the BLTP. Do keep in mind that Anet has to continue to make money though. You can’t exactly blame them for putting something cosmetic up for purchase so that they can continue to make the game for us.

What about monocles and armor weight?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ba air.1372

I’m curious, with the implementation of the wardrobe, are skins like the monocle and air breather masks going to still have weight restrictions on them or will they become a one size fits all skin? (Ex: Will my light monocle become a monocle available to all armor classes?) I ask because the three monocles are the exact same skin just in different weights as is the air breather mask. They don’t run the risk of clipping and act pretty much like the cross weight masks and scars already available on the BLTP.

[SPOILERS] The Sylvari are not minions

in Sylvari

Posted by: Ba air.1372

Ba air.1372

I believe that the sylvari ARE the minions of this mysterious nature dragon. I believe that the ventari tablet guided the pale tree away from the dragon. Also, in the Sylvari beginning zone there is a “shadow of the dragon” which i believe to be this mysterious nature dragon. By killing it in the dream, the sylvari seem to be choosing the ventari tablet over the dragons ways. I also believe that later in the game there will be other sylvari that do not follow the ventari tablet, instead i think they will act like destroyers would to primordus… minions.

You’re ignoring a lot by assuming that Ventari’s Tablet is corruption. For one, if it was corruption, wouldn’t sylvari see it as absolute? Corruption is established time and time again as something that is extremely difficult to remove if at all. That individual sylvari can remove that “corruption” with ease and not be Nightmare Court strongly suggests that Ventari’s teachings are not corruption. There are many, many sylvari that are not dreamers (they do not follow Ventari and have severed their connection to the dream) that do nothing that could be mistaken for working for a dragon.

Soundless, by your theory, would automatically be Nightmare Court, or evil at least. Not to mention how many evil, non-Court sylvari their are. There are sylvari pirates, bandits, and general kitten. That sylvari have so much choice with or without the tablet does not make it look like corruption in the slightest. Dragon corruption leaves very, very little room for choice and, even then, it’s likely only a champion would have the willpower to reject their master. Only the Nightmare Court act in any way like dragon minions in how they seek to corrupt and “remake the world in their image.” Sylvari pirates just want money and beer.

The Shadow of a Dragon as the jungle dragon doesn’t really work either. The Pale Tree herself says that only two of her children have faced a dragon in their dreams, the player character and Caithe. If the dragon in the dream was really a test to decide between Ventari and the dragon, then wouldn’t all saplings see and face it? Caithe says, too, that the dragon is Nightmare influence, like the nightmare hounds that are in there, killing saplings. Being dead doesn’t really allow for the saplings to choose the dragon’s path.

And then there is the almighty monkey wrench in any sylvari lore arguement, Malyck. He is without a dream, tablet, or corruption yet he is protective of other sylvari and generally a good guy, if a tad violent. Without Ventari’s tablet, using your logic, he should be vicious and evil right off the bat, yet he is really more of a blank slate. There is just not enough evidence to support Ventari’s tablet as corruption or the sylvari as minions.

That aside, enjoy some art! I’m also open for requests for charr, asura, and sylvari only! Don’t get mad if I don’t draw your character, I might not get to them all, but post some screenshots and I might doodle them up!

Forced from solo to group for final story

Ba air.1372

What kills me is that you can get completion for your personal story and never appear in the cutscenes for Arah because of how the dungeon group story works. It’s even worse because Arah follows the story of the dungeons, which aren’t needed up until then for the personal story, so I barely knew what was going on with Destiny’s Edge because I had only done three story mode dungeons. It really makes the Zhaitan fight feel a lot less epic than it should be. It doesn’t help that most of fighting him is just sitting in a cannon, slowly picking away at his health. It fit the story, yeah, but it didn’t make him feel much like a threat.

While WoW is hardly the best example for story, I was kinda expecting something along the lines of the Deathwing encounter. (Very similar to Arah in how the raid is set up, you fight his minions, get on an airship, shoot him out of the air, and then you fight him.) You knock the great beast out of the sky, now get down there and try not to die!

My impression is that they could see major events or those tied to really strong emotion, but not necessarily specific details. Even then it’s not a given that any particular even would ever be seen in the dream. A sylvari in the dream might see the Order of Whispers doing something but nothing specific enough that, when awake, they could expose their secrets. The dream “hints at [their] future” so I imagine any glimpses of the Orders would be a premonition type deal.

That’s just my understanding of it, but I didn’t get the impression that the dream would be a risk like that.

In Short, What Would You Change in the PS?

in Personal Story

Posted by: Ba air.1372

Ba air.1372

I don’t think any changes to the PS are realistic at this point and it’ll probably be better just to add better stuff later, but if I had to change stuff:

- (I might get some hate for this.) I love Trahearne, but it took an effort outside game to get to know the character better to see him fit better in the story. Considering the background information that is either obscure or locked into multiple playthroughs, he is hardly any more of a mary-sue than the player character and much more qualified as Marshall. But this needs to come out in easy to access play, not through scrounging up whatever information one can from various sources. The story could use some serious bulking out with a lot more fleshing out of various important characters, especially Trahearne. It saddens me how much undeserved blame he gets for supposedly “ruining the story” when it’s really the presentation that’s killing the story.

- Because people are going to whine about him taking the credit, maybe take out the people praising him for seemingly trivial things? Not that he seems to be aiming for glory but he’s going to be considered a glory hog anyways. I mean, not that it wasn’t hilarious in a way for random praise to be thrown his way and he seeming completely oblivious.

- Make it obvious when the “personal” part of the story end and when the main storyline takes hold. Of course you impact the main storyline but it’s not longer really personal at that point. Claw Island is a very solid marker but it seems like just another fight-lots-of-dudes quest that hasn’t split from personal story. Not that I mind out personal story ending at 20-30 but a really obvious sign might make players less confused at to why suddenly they are less of the main character. (Again… not that I mind, being second in command is fine with me. Do you guys really want to do Trahearne’s paperwork?)

- I’m hesitant to say this, because making dungeons solo content does go away from being an MMO, but it would be nice to have the storymode dungeons be soloable. I did Arah to finish my story and had almost no idea what was going on with the Destiny’s Edge (other than ~Friendship is Magic~ or something along those lines) because you don’t need to do the other story mode dungeons to finish the story. Also it’s very annoying to have to scrounge up a group so you can do a personal storyline and can be annoying for said party if you want to sit through all the cutscenes. Personal cutscenes would be nice too. For ALL story dungeons, on that note. Since there seems to be no dialogue directed specifically at you outside the cutscenes, I would think this would be fairly easy?

- Expanding on the previous topic; having the Destiny’s Edge storyline in dungeons that require parties makes the storytelling very jagged for me. Doing them out of order because you couldn’t get a group together for an earlier one just jumbles the story up something fierce. I feel very disconnected from that story arch and it really took the bite out of Zhaitan’s fight to have little lead up on that front.

- Please, dear goodness, fix getting double introduced to people I already know. As a sylvari, Claw Island to Forging the Pact felt very off. Being presented as friend-of-Trahearne to my own mother is a little jarring. It really took me out of the story and I didn’t pick up from Forging the Pact until I was 80 for quite a few months.

- Having race and/or class being noticed would be nice too. Doing the Priory arch felt a little odd when my sylvari didn’t ever get annoyed by Gixx’s snide comments about Seiran and it was even odder than he never made any at me. Asura in the sylvari quests before the orders’ arches have no shortage of terrible plant based jokes for my characters. :I

- Either make choices feel meaningful or remove them. I don’t feel like the dignity/charm/ferocity has much of impact other than a bit of flavor here and there. I’m not against some flavor here and there but they’re so few and far between and their levels so meaningless. It would be interesting to see actual impact on the missions depending on how you act towards npcs. Ones you’re mean to are probably not going to be so likely to listen to you no? I do like being able to pick what missions I get to go along on in Orr, but the role playing is pretty thin on the ground elsewhere. I’m not really playing my individual character, I’m pushing a template down various routes.

- More of a chance to mourn your mentor and/or all the friends you’ve lost along the way. My dude seemed to get over his mentor’s death with a disturbing quickness. I was still pretty sad and wanted a funeral or something.

Edit: Also, can we not have this thing where any remotely amusing minor npc is slaughtered two missions later? It was getting to the point that I could pick out who was going to be dead in a mission or two.

Why do sylvari ignore Ventari's tablet?

in Sylvari

Ba air.1372

A way of thinking about it that might help get across what I mean is to consider sylvari not as high fantasy elves + plants. They have a good bit in common with the generic elf but also a heavy influence from the fae/fairies/the good people/whatever you want to call them. This is pretty obvious with the Nightmare Court being the Unseelie Court with a tacked on note of: “Oh yeah and let’s take over the world too.” (Look it up if you don’t believe me, the two line up pretty nicely.)

Fairy myth have fairies, no not those Disney fairies, tied to nature and can be quite peaceful and helpful, but by no means are they always like that. Many, even outside the Unseelie Court can be quite nasty. Just food for thought.

But sylvari are far from non-violent. They have duels, they fight risen, nightmare court, and all manner of enemies all the time. I don’t see why the sylvari, outside the Grove especially, should always seek the peaceful option first? Just looking at the dialogue of sylvari npcs heavily suggests that it’s not mechanics that make them act like you don’t like. They’re an emotional and very very impulsive lot. They are different from humans, as different as asura are to humans, as different as norn are to humans. They have their own culture and ways of thinking, even if it all does come out as humanish, just like for the other races.

Really sylvari don’t have much of a chance to have a more unique way of life, especially with the whole “we’re here to kill those dragons” thing. They’re a new, learning intelligent species in a very dangerous world. Who do they have to learn from? Humans, asura, charr, and norn. Ventari’s tablet is a big influence for them but they can’t avoid being influenced by the other races and their ways of life, especially with the dream including non-sylvari. They don’t have a long history to root their way of life.

Personally I think violence as a last resort from a close-to-nature species has been done to death anyways.

“In tune with nature” does not mean peaceful. They are a part of nature and nature is not kind, loving, or forgiving. I think you’re looking for something along the lines of… “tree hippies.” The “cycle of life” still applies if they’re driving away threats. Is it not a natural part of the cycle of life for other things to be killed by other creatures? For territory, protection, or food. Nature is not friendly.

I still fail to see how this goes against Ventari’s teaching. It’s open to interpretation and various sylvari do approach it different ways, as I have already shown. It’s silly to expect every single sylvari to act completely differently. They can see his teachings in a myriad of different ways but still have a general moral code. I’m not sure why the idea is odd to you? It is very much like our real life religions and ethical codes.

I have not seen much, if any, evidence in game that the sylvari are supposed to be so ~one with nature~ that killing another creature or cutting down a tree for supplies is against their world views. There is one group in Mount Malestrom that disapproves of killing anything (except the Inquest because they are destroying the land) and even ask you to be careful where you walk so as to not kill insects. These are a minority however and none of them, as far as I recall, quoted Ventari’s tablet as justification.

Well the sylvari aren’t a hive mind, they all see Ventari’s teachings in their own ways and it’s not just the Nightmare Court that disagrees with his teachings. As for for the specific line: “IV. All things have a right to grow. The blossom is brother to the weed.” I think it comes down to a matter of interpretation, especially when you consider it says “grow” not “live.” A current threat has no right to live as it has had its time to grow into a threat.

So say a sylvari sticking close to that tenant would not kill a Krait child as the child still has time to grow and make its own desicions as if it will be a threat to the sylvari or not. A full grown, threatening, Krait is a whole different matter. It has already made its choice and has thus forfeited its right to live. (On that note, the termites are actively destroying a food source, that’s a threat.)

As for things such as the fireflies, various sylvari seem to see killing insects in different ways. There’s a farmer that chants that line because she’s frustrated about a grub eating her plants, but she doesn’t kill it. The girl tending the lamps probably doesn’t classify fireflies as “high enough” to be included in that tenant. They see his teachings differently.

Regarding the Nightmare Court: Anything Nightmare corrupted has been established as 100% unsaveable. They have courtiers in the Grove’s prison but even plants corrupted by Nightmare can only be destroyed. Just trimming thorns or sparing courtiers is not going to do anyone any good. There is no coming back from Nightmare anymore than there is coming back from being risen.

Being a race of gentle pacifists doesn’t really work when they’re assaulted by risen on one side, the Court on another side, and various vicious jungle beasts filling in the gaps in between. Not to mention their goal as a species is to end the dragons’ corruption. You don’t do that without smashing some faces in. They’re also omnivores, so likely see killing animals as something necessary to eat. As for chopping down trees… Come on, they have to kill plants to eat them unless they plan to survive on fruit and sand. A tree getting cut down for supplies is hardly a breach of Ventari’s teaching. The sylvari are not that peaceful of a species.

Thank You for the Sylvari

How can this be so difficult to grasp? FotM has the first tier of infusions, those that combat agony. The next dungeon will have the next set that combats a different condition. This is a perfect setup for horizontal progression.

Horizontal progression never requires new gear to open new content. In horizontal progression you never end up behind, without some key eq, because you were absent for a year.

That’s the beauty… you won’t be behind to get into the new content. You don’t even need ascended gear to enter the dungeons, and from what I hear agony isn’t even started until level 10 (someone correct if wrong, level 7 and haven’t seen it yet). You’ll only need the infusions, so they say, to get deep into the dungeons (deep as in high levels, high agony).

So, you can be gone a year, come back and hop into the newest dungeon, picking up where you left off. Then you can work the ascended gear/ infusions as you go, at the same pace as everyone else.

But will you be able to find a group to take you in a year? Will you honestly find it easy to get a group that wants someone at low dungeon level and not enough gear to progress as far as the levels will have reached in a year?

They’ve even stated that new content will have the agony mechanic, so you will be behind in every single one of those dungeons starting out if they don’t change that. This is vertical progression, you have no idea what you’re talking about. This is classic WoW stuff. There is a teeny tiny period where the average group will accept new people into a dungeon that requires increased stats.

It’s not so much if you’re actually able to do it in a year, it’s if anyone will do it with you, and that will be a tiny amount. You see it already with story mode dungeons. It’s hard to find a group for one because it provides little benefit to anyone but a leveling character. People are not going to want to do the lower level FotM a year from now, not in a great amount.

Why wouldn’t you be able to find a group? Exotics are exotics. To get in dungeons, that’s more than enough. Agony is a mechanic for this dungeon… expect new mechanics for new dungeons which quite simply means everyone starts fresh with the new content. Even if they carry agony over, it doesn’t kick in until level 10 I believe… you can go into Fractals now without agony gear, as everyone that has gone in so far has. You’re confusing the mechanics that allow deeper progression with power.

That is basically the definition of power creep/vertical progression. (To progression UP you need stats that go UP! Vertical = up by the way, I don’t think you understand that.) People are not going to want exotics for groups for FotM in a year for now, they’re gonna want ascended gear. Again, just because you CAN do the dungeon, doesn’t mean people will do it with you.

You can get into the dungeon but the likely hood of getting a group is going to drop dramatically. People are less likely to do the dungeons that get your exotics, as the FotM gives you better gear. It’s harder to get exotics out of Orr because people are doing the new content. You don’t see how this is vertical progression? Older content is becoming less important, that is one of the crowning flaws of power creep.

Right now people can get groups and go in without agony fairly easily. That will stop soon if it isn’t balanced. You will not see this in a year if something isn’t changed. This is called power creep and you see it in WoW. I play WoW, this is not a new concept for me.

@Ba air,

I’m not saying the idea of not being able to look like an NPC is dumb. I get that.
I’m saying its lame how we’re so limited in base face shapes and sliders.

But we’re not really limited? The Sylvari get a ton of faces and the sliders are plenty to create some really unique looks. Not getting a few faces for NPCs is not limiting us much.

Take a look at some other MMOs, or even single player games. (Age of Conan or Aion for example). Then you will notice how limited Guild Wars 2 is in this respect.

I’ve played Skyrim, Fallout, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age with their huge amount of sliders and what have you. Yep we’re still not that limited. The amount of options we have is very reasonable and makes it easy to make a myriad of unique and interesting characters. The only thing I’d really ask for is more body types really. Yes it would be nice to have more but to tell me that GW2 character creation is limited is kinda laughable.

Ranger: though to be honest it was probably more the fern hound than anything that made me like my ranger. :P
Engineer: I have not gotten high enough level to see if the weapon kits are really that amazing but I’ve heard they’re almost on par with the fun of attunements.
Mesmer: Also heard it’s fairly on par on complexity/speedy gameplay.

Pretty much what XelNigma said. The corruption of the Pale Tree is just a step in flooding the world with Sylvari and taking over. Having another, easy to corrupt tree would make that so much easier.

One Time Events: Keep Them!

Hehehe…being angry at missing one event in a game…is basing your life off a video game.
…..
There is no reasonable, adult reason to do away with these type events in their current form. That’s not to say it was perfect.

I find the first part so ironic as that is basically what Anet is asking people to do make SURE they can make these events to enjoy part of the storytelling and loot. Your options are: Miss it or cancel the obligation that makes you miss it. Who is basing their life off video games? I’m not mad at missing the other two events, I just think these events are stupid.

Reasonable, adult reasons:

- They exclude a lot of people, including those that are in the time zone that would enjoy it.
- They create a lot of lag, yes even if you personally didn’t have to face it, pretty much everyone in my overflow did.
- They aren’t unique if you can hop overflows to get the rewards again, so they aren’t even doing what they’re supposed to be doing as ~one time only~.
- If the uniqueness is the only real defense (any economic issues would be painfully easy to deal with by restricting rewards to once per account) and even that isn’t working for them, there’s no reason to keep them in their current form.
- Chain events over the course of a few days fracture their dramatic storytelling if you have to miss one in the middle.
- It would be friendlier to the player base overall to make them repeated or longer.

I played on a laptop that’s not very high end and I had zero lag. I did turn off shadows which usually helps a lot with that sort of thing. I also play on WiFi and not a wired connection…and still no issues. I did have a friend that had some lag issues, but once he dropped the graphics down a bit he was fine.

The chain of events in the Ancient Karka was such that if you missed part of it you didn’t miss out on anything except the experience. Heck, the whole 2 and a half hours was only 2 or 3 events total.

I turned down my settings to nothing on a computer that can handle everything on high during moderate sized event without a hint of lag and my connection is really strong ethernet. This was not on my end, this was server side. Many, MANY people had this problem. Map and Say were full of people confused and complaining about the lag. Not in the forums, during the event itself. This was not a small amount of people effected by this issue that likely had all to do with too many people and mobs in one place. But we have no option to see this event without this lag because it is one time.

The experience was very meh and I doubt it would be any less meh without the lag. Map was full of people saying all they did while afking through a good portion of the event because it was dragging on so long.

I had missed the two events of the days previous so I didn’t really know what was going on other than a big something was being annoying again.

I think these events show anything but a lot of thought. They didn’t think of the horrid lag? The loss of rewards or credit from disconnects from the lag? It doesn’t take a genius to figure out if you make it so everyone that wants to see something has to be there in a very, very narrow window, the lag and strain on the servers is going to be immense.

These events are glitchy to boot. For the Halloween one time event the Mad King never even showed up on my screen. My computer can run the game on high with no problems and my connection is solid, so there’s no reason he shouldn’t have showed up. With all setting down I shouldn’t have 5-15 second delay on everything I do to even see an event that I have no choice to see at a quieter time.

The events are not kind to a lot of the playerbase as it is. You aren’t going to get good feelings from many that can’t make it and chains of events make it so that if you miss one or two you’re still left out.

Heck, they don’t even seem that interesting. I only stuck around for the ancient karka because of the promise of a bag.

I didn’t get to see the first two events, only the third because it lasted so long… and I had no idea what was going on because I missed the first two. Woo! Excellent story telling and impact I guess?

The lag was terrible too. No amount of lowering settings did a thing about it and I must have spent 30 minutes of the event completely useless for anything but pressing F near downed players and starting to rez them about 10 seconds later if I wasn’t crushed by anything in the meantime.

Going down and then seeing the thing that killed me roll on by several seconds to half a minute later does not an engaging event or world make.

Gender and armor?

Armor, like all clothing, adapts to the user.
Why wearing something that will put uncomfortable pressure on certain places when there’s armor available that will fit you perfectly?

Of course, that doesn’t mean that the outer shape has to reflect how well the inside fit. For example, bulges for the breasts in a plate armor would make attacks with long piercing and bladed weapons harder to deflect, as they may be directed straight to the Sternum, as opposed to male armors with a single convex plate that deflect attacks to the sides.
But this also applies to make armors, who tend to be shaped like a muscled chest instead with a proper shape fit for combat.

Now, one can argue that many armors do not seem to cover much or are not very well designed for protection, with many spikes enemies could grab, and shapes that would not properly protect or deflect attacks. But the thing is, most armors in the game are mostly decorative, as an enemy that can kill you in one hit will kill you in one hit regardless of armor you wear, and most of their protective properties come from magic imbuements, from the ingredients used for their insignia and runes.
A thief can have their belly uncovered, because they are supposed to avoid being hit at all, and you won’t see splurts of blood everywhere because there’s magical protections in place (well, it’s actually to keep the age rating down, but you know, it’s better to see it like that)
Because of that, adventurers in Tyria can focus more in fashion tastes and magical properties than in actual coverage when they choose their gear.

Okay the part about breast bulges could not be any more wrong. Those two bulges? They make a wonderful channel between them for a blade to go along straight under neck armor, even with a flip out to protect the throat. The bulges direct to the side AND to the neck, that’s a terrible design.

Besides, why the hell would you be completely naked under a suit of armor? That’s really the only way the breast bulges would do anything but for women with really sizable breasts. With a heavy undershirt like would make some sense, the breasts wouldn’t ever go comfortably into the cups of the breastplate. And painful much? Yeah I don’t want my boobs knocking around metal cups, that would hurt.

A lot of plate armor is made to have a bulge out as it is, so it wouldn’t squish anything but a very large, unbound chest as it is. Male armor would be much more comfortable than “female armor” as far as plate goes.

Thieves with uncovered skin makes no sense. Sure you go down fast but you go down less fast if you have something between you and a dagger. And there is the sneaky element. Uncovered pale fur/skin/bark is not very good for sneaking!

With your point on armor making little difference: It’s true that armor in this game is largely cosmetic and it is mostly the stats. However, that’s a player knowledge element. Yes your character will know that these enchantments make things better but would they know that their stomach is magically protected by a series of stats? This also defeats the purpose for different armor classes as it is. If it really comes down to stats/enchantments, it doesn’t make sense to wear anything other than well enchanted cloth. You can, realistically, dodge better, run better, and attack so much easier with cloth instead of something restrictive like plate. This is what the Npcs and characters of Tyria would know even if, because of balance, it can’t apply to us, the players.

So the Npcs and characters see armor as a protective thing. With this in place it doesn’t make sense for there to be such revealing armor for anything other than cloth.(because, well, cloth is gonna do nothing for you so it makes no difference how much you’re showing off)

The revealing armor for women is, frankly, purely to make them look “hot” or more appealing. That’s it. It’s fine to like that, it’s fine if you want your female characters in plate bikinis, but more options for armor that makes some sense and is more gender neutral would be nice. Especially for starter options. I still cringe when I try to make a female Sylvari/Norn/Human clothie.

I second this. I really hate the starting armor for Sylvari/human/norn female clothies. Mini skirt? Come on. I like the beautiful styles of the armor but at the same time, heavy armor at least should look like armor.

I would like something like this to test my builds but at the same time, this would be a terrible thing for finicky elitist players to get their hands on. Sharing is a no. Some would see friendly competition, but many, many jerks would see it as a way to put others down if they pulled better numbers.

There’s also the high risk of dungeon groups then asking for certain numbers and above. If provided some way to gauge another player with numbers, fairly or not, people will latch onto it and apply likely unfair standards. Even if it was personal it’d still be asked for. Of course there’s the option to lie but that shouldn’t have to be an option.

I say this as a WoW raider who loves her meters, but really doesn’t want to see them in GW2.

Repeatable dungeon idea

I can tell you from doing plenty of dungeons in WoW, which are different in looks and don’t have the trinity, but still have the same sort of trash, trash, boss setup: randomizing the boss sections will not make them any more interesting. I will not be any less bored of a dungeon if I beat the third boss before the first if I’m gonna be bored of it. Moving bits around just makes it disjointed if it’s not designed to be moved around to start with.

When the goal of a dungeon is to survive the dungeon and punch bosses you’re not going to get much out of moving bits of it around because there’s nothing new in that corner over there just because it’s somewhere else another time. Unless there’s going to be completely new bosses and trash types it won’t be that fresh.

I’m not inclined to care about the rest of whatever they have set up storywise for this when I’ll probably be missing at least two of the events. I see talking in say around big events and for rp. I doesn’t serve a huge purpose unless you’re actively trying to make friends though. It’s sorta on you to make that work. You really can’t make people want to be buddy buddy no matter how much you require other’s help.

To be honest I don’t even see that much say talk outside Org. Unless you’re counting “gg” and taunts.
