Tyler Batman said in one of the reddit things linked, that they will post this “detailed explanation” right before EU reset on friday. And then the EU pairings as EU reset, and the NA pairings as NA reset. To avoid gaming the system.

Unfortunately, anet has already informed, the people they like, what the server merger plans are, and these people have already “gamed the system” in their favor. These people have been bragging about it for a week or more.

when tc drags db (JQ nor YB will stay) up to t1 and db implodes, they will have bg to fight on the weekends and doors during the week…… congrats well played…..

TC isn’t going to drag DB any where they don’t want to go. DB has said multiple times, they have no interest in being T1. This group of guilds that transfered to TC wrecked T1 with their play style, got bored and decided to repeat their actions and because they are bored again. I wonder how long it is going to take before these people figure out that they are the reason noone wants to be in t1. DB has had fights like we Are having right now since t4. NSP and HoD, had good fights, mag, CD, and SBI had good fights, and we had plenty of good fights in T2 before they came with TC and FA. DB doesn’t care about going to t1 they are just interested in screwing up the kittenters plans of moving TC to T1.

And THAT had everything to do with the current state of the game and players not having fun and wanting a change of scenery.

I got that from this thread. I was commenting on the absurdity of the statement if it was true or not. It appears to have come from someone from t1, and its pretty common to for people to think DB is/was on some uber guild buying tier 1 push. And if it is true that they came to stop DB from doing something it didn’t want to do, then that would be hilarious. Also the fact that people would think that people would transfer down to t2 to stop DB’s Phantom t1 push is also funny as kitten. True or not I’m laughing at the concept.

There is nothing wrong with proxy cata’s. If you limit the placing cata’s to some min distance, then you will make cata’s completely useless, because there are few if any place to place cata’s not next to a wall that they can’t be hit by treb or motor fire. And treb and mortar fire kills other seige way too fast

Defense is already way too strong. There are,already multiple servers who refuse to engage any oposing force even when they out number the other servers 2 to 1.

This game should always be about player vs player interaction not player vs door, player vs wall, or player vs seige. What a lot of people do not understand is the true purpose of the towers and keep are. The towers and keeps are not there for people to hide inside and defend. They are there for the other servers to attack, and to force you to engage them.

Generally it is also a good indication that either :

A: Those ‘leaving’ were Incompetent
B: The management above them are Incompetent

Typically if those leaving were Incompetent then they would be fired, not just leaving.

Could you guys at least admit that you are mostly upset you can’t make progress towards your wings and that is why you want this separate league. Otherwise all the people complaining that they don’t have balanced matches already have exactly that if you go play unranked.

You guys also don’t really care for the health of PvP or any sort of competition/ladder if you want to even further split the PvP community. Everyone is saying how the population has dropped so much and now you want to further dilute the population with an extra league?

Ok so lets be honest, about 80% of the league doesn’t give a kitten about fun competetive match ups. We want to progress thru our tiers and get the back pack. I don’t give a kitten about pretty little titles or black diamond bullkitten.

Hell if I ever get the back piece Ill either turn it off or transmute it, because like all the other back pieces that skin sucks.

The best line i read yesterday someone wrote….

Why not have the match making system pick the 2 teams like its currently doing, then just give the pip to the team with the higher MMR and take a pip from the lower MMR team. This way we avoid the completely unneccessary part of actually having to play the match.

Ding ding ding ding, we have a winner folks. This is exactly the way the system works currently. We just need to remove the necessary matches.

Your train of logic assumes that EVERY player is SUPPOSED to make it to legendary, they arnt, if you reach the point where you are consistently at a 50/50 win/lose ratio, then you have reached the division your SUPPOSED to be at currently.
This IS NOT a reward track, its a seperation of players into different divisions based on their skill. You arnt entitled to legendary division just because you work hard at it, you have to both work hard at it AND be successful

And, your assuming that division equals skill. It does not. There are plenty of ways to cheat the system so that you get the matches you want to progress your pip level. Your skills level and pip are no longer tied together, so you can now have a low mmr and a high pip level if you can get the group together to accomplish it. As a someone who typically solo ques I don’t really want to do those things as it takes away from others who are trying to enjoy the game. I can forcably lower my mmr, and lock in my pip level, but that seems like an kitten way to go about it.

A 50/50 system isn’t fair. Once you make it to your mmr level then you will almost always win one then lose one. This makes it impossible to advance your pip count. This is the problem with decent to medicare players. They reach their mmr level faster then the higher tiers. Removing pip loss will probably make it too easy, but making it so you can lose one match before a pip loss.

There needs to be some cushioning so that people don’t have to win 4 or 5 matches in row to progress. My experience has been that I can usually win 2 in a row, very rarely 3. Then I lose 3 or more in a row putting me back where I started.

This is the biggest problem with the pvp season. The system is set up for individual rewards but require a team effort in order to progress. Most of the people playing this game solo que. They don’t want the hastel of putting a team together and showing up on time everyday to get better as a team. That is the nature of the Guilds Wars player base, casual players.

The obvious solution to this problem would be to add a solo que, but the ain’t going to happen, because that would crush the dream or competitive e sports that anet is currently pushing. If there was a solo que then it would severely limit the number of players competing in the tournaments.

With mmr being used to set up the matches, the pip system is nothing more than a personal reward system. This is the main reason people are upset. People need the pip progression to get the legendary back piece. It is extremely difficult to get 2 teams of 5 people in the solo que to coordinate and work together. There is always that one idiot that thinks they can solo far. This makes it almost impossible to string together the multiple win streaks you need to progress tiers.

If it worked then there would be more matches that ended with score that was reasonably close. If the system worked properly then you could expect to see a lot of 500/450 or at least 500/350, but the majority of the matches end up being 500/150 or less.

The match making system was broken last season, and is more broken this season. In a system where you need to win multiple games in a row in order to progress thru the tiers a 50% win loss ratio means the majority of the people will never progress out of tier 3. The truth of the situation is that Anet is using the majority of this community as fodder for the top 5% of the player base. They refuse to put in a solo que because they know that the majority of the people in this game will do the solo que, and it will leave no one for their precious elite pvp teams to play against except each other.

The state of havoc is actually pretty good right now. It’s not the same as it was, it’s different. The new maps suck, but they actually help havoc with the size and lack of waypoints. It much harder for defenders to respond, unless they have emergency waypoint. Keeps are stupid hard, but are easier to kill the Lord with a 5 man than a 50 man. I find its much easier to avoid enemy contact on them new maps, and have soloed every tower on the map. Keeps are different, and should be. Also supply isn’t a problem if your creative.

There is no amount of PVF’N or glicko theory crafting that can prove or disprove if a 1 up 1 down concept would or would not work. The only way to know, is to try it, but that would a bit extreme at this point. A simple modification to the formula would be the easiest solution to the current problem. Removing the portion that is weighted against the higher server may fix the problem. It may also benefit to leave some to weighted score toward the lower server to prevent tanking, but the restrictions on the winning server needs to be removed so that they can move up in a natural progression.

The use of glicko for a limited size scoring pool is a flawed concept. It was never ment for such a small sample size such as Gw2 wvw. It was ment for unlimited numbers of players who may never actually play against each other. Glicko is a much too complicated formula to be used in this situation.

A 1 up 1 down ladder system, while not a perfect system, would handle this situation with wvw matchups much better than the current glicko system. Yes, there would be people abuse the system, but it wouldn’t have the system ending problems you are suggesting. Now I’m not saying it is the system we need to be using, I’m saying it would be better than stupid over complex system we are currently using. I spent years playing in a 1 up 1 down ladder system, and it would be much more difficult to abuse than you think, mostly because of the complexity of wvw. Not only would you have to get all the guild on a server to agree t o throw matches, you’d also have to get all the pugs and pugmanders to agree, and that would be nearly impossible to do. It’s been done using the current system. Mag just recently did it when they decided to tank so hard they were playing down 2 tiers.

I’m not entirely sure what the solution to this problem is, but it sure as hell isn’t glicko. The current situation of DB being a perfect example. DB got to tier 3 and immediately started out scoring the rest of tier 3, usually by almost double the combined score of the other 2 servers. The real problem with this isn’t DB being stuck in tier 3, it is the fact that the other servers are stuck playing against DB. While DB has been trying to get out of tier 3 they have wrecked 3 different servers. Magumma tanked hard, Crystal Desert had its best guild transfer, and now Bannock has quit. Both SBI and Mag would have been a much better matchup against SoS months ago. Now we have a server who has been out scoring the other 2 servers by almost double the combined scores of the other 2 servers for months loosing glicko instead of gaining glicko. GG anet

First, they did listen to defenders…that’s why it took 45 minutes to take a keep when HOT came out with 5 sup rams on a paper gate. No one liked it so they reduced the amount of HP on doors and walls. Then they reduced the supply cost of catapults because once again no one liked it, because game was tilted too much towards defense. Gates, walls, and Lords still have more HP than before HOT, but now you have banners airships, supply drops, hardened doors, and invul walls. Defense has gotten a HUGE buff, even tho before HOT defense was just fine.

I use to be a defender. I spent 2 years primarly being a BL defender. I spent most of that time being poor because I was paying for upgrades and seiging up towers and keeps. I know how to defend I also know how to break a defense. Then I relized this game isn’t about defending towers, and that the only reason the towers exist is to force 2 or more sides to fight. Most people and most servers do not PPT, most wvw commanders don’t attack a tower to take it to improve the score, they attack it to force the other server to fight them, and that’s what this game is about FIGHTS…. not defense. If they listened to defenders then all this game would be is a red, blue and green guy setting in a keep with airships on every tower and camp.

Poor guy…. the main problem here is you want to be able to solo defend an objective from a 50 man zerg. That is an unrealistic expectation! We should not rebalance the entire game because your server imploded. It didn’t get harder because defense got weaker, it got harder because you lost population, and most importantly because all the people that use to fight on the bl’s now only fight on ebg, and are afraid to Leave e bg because they can’t get back in, so no one responds to attackers on bls.

Pro Tip 1. If you are trying to build seige after the enemy attacks, then you are doing it wrong.

Pro Tip 2. If you are trying to defend a tower or keep by yourself, then you are doing it wrong.

Currently WvW is stacked toward the defender. With more hp on the doors and walls and over the top stupidly buffed lords with pve mechanic all the defenders have a advantage. The problem is very few people want to defend, and even less want to play on the new bl’s. Ac damage reduced, and the ability for people’s armor types to effect seige damage needs fixed.

I guess you are newer to wvw? It has been done before in the previous wvw seasons. Moving a server up a tiers is like asking them not to play for a week. Even thought wvw is in a downstate coverage gaps still exist.

Check out Kaineng server for instance this week. http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups Yes, they are having the same sort of issue, they got put in a matchup that they can’t handle. So yeah, they basically took the week off.

Using Kaineng is a bad example. They are pretty low population serve who got moved up a tier out of pure randomness. Going against a server with a tier 3 population and a tier 2 NA population that has decided that they want to manipulate the scoring system because they are too lazy to get better.

The scoring system, much like everything else anet does is much too complicated. This is a perfect example of just because you are capable of doing something it does t mean you should do something. A simple ladder system of the winner each week moves up a tier and the lose moves down a tier would work sooooo much better for this game.

Requesting Feature: Private Commander Tag

We’ve avoided adding this feature because we don’t believe it would be healthy for WvW. While we can appreciate why some players would want a feature like this, lots of other players only engage in WvW when, upon entering a WvW map, immediately see a commander icon to follow. We try and avoid adding features that can be used to intentionally exclude other players.

This just another example of anet not knowing anything about wvw. It just proves that they don’t actually play wvw in any aspect. If they did they would k ow that the majority of wvw guilds run tagless, and have run tagless for a long time. The only thing they are doing by not adding a private tag is the are preventing the majority of WvWers from using the only thing that they have added to since launch that they didn’t screw up.

I’ve had plenty of people try to focus me. With the break bar, good luck trying to focus me down in a Zerg. Group heals plus my own heals I walk out of way more fights than I should. Especially with turtle banner and centaur banner. Delete them, or make them only useable in pve. Just get them out of wvw!

While I’m enjoying the hell out of all the banners, they are all way over powered. They need removed. It’s to the point now if your group isn’t running at least 1 banner you are not going to win, even with a much larger group. It will eventually be if you aren’t running all 3 banners at the same time, you will wipe.

Last night I was in sm, we saw the enemy Zerg getting ready to run thru north outer. I dropped dragon banner 5 on the portal and watched as the entire enemy Zerg explode as they came thru the portal. The Zerg was 60+, and we did hit the portal with a bomb, but no one made it thru the gate. That doesn’t happen with out the dragon banner. I gained an entire wvw level on that one wipe.

After almost a page of posts with everyone but 2 people agreeing that defense is over powered, you are still attempting to jam this topic down everyone’s throat. If this many people disagreed with me I might start to possibly think that I was wrong.

The worst part about this entire thread is the orgional poster started a topic complaining about defense not being feasible, then posted video evidence that proved he was was wrong and that most towers have very few weaknesses. This poster then proceeds to stomp his feet on his soap box because no one agrees with him. OMG delete wvw make 50v50v50 bobber guild ladder.

If you want to make seige only killable by it other seige, then make all seige have friendly fire. Why should a friendly treb be able to fire at a friendly door and not do damage. Or why should a defending force be able to fight inside cannon treb and a fire, while the attacking force has to be able to tank all that damage or move off and try to fight out of the damage.

The simple fact of this issue is. Defense of towers and keeps is already overpowered. Why do you think anet gave a reduction in door and wall hp shortly after they gave them a buff for Hot. All of this and we have 2 people who want to take the narrow section of this game they have decided to force themselves to play and take it from easy mode to super kittening easy mode.

No, I’m pretty sure I’ve nailed your suggestion down perfectly.

Let’s look at Catalin last post where he says that the only vulnerable spot at the Academy is the SW/W walls. If you do something to eliminate this spot then there are no vulnerable spots at the Academy. Making this towers defense super easy, and would provide no challenge for the defenders.

You are purpose changes that in your words makes attacking a tower challenging, and then not expecting the defense of a tower to be challenging as well. You are purposing to bend the game directly toward your preferred play style. That’s very selfish.

Again what you are suggesting is to make every tower and keep 100% Impenterable. That is still not acceptable game type for the majority of the people that play this game.

You keep ranting about making offenses be creative in their attacks, but at the same time you want to make it so the defenses don’t have to do the same. Hypocrital much? The game is already weighted toward defense. It doesn’t need to be weighted more toward defense. What you are suggesting is to make it easy mode for you and the game type you want to play, instead of adapting and over coming the challenges of the very narrow section of the game that you have forced yourself to play.

Also I’m not sure what you mean by competitive enviroment. As the only thing this league is about is the top 2 tiers using ambers and free at accounts to farm pips from emeralds and sapphires.

Instabilities!

you could start with emerald and have maybe 10% of the match have some sort of instability. And then by the diamond every match would have one maybe 2.

Imagine how this loss of boons on dodge would effect the meta. Or traps provide enemy stability, or enemy explode on stomp.

These could be targeted at the meta to make players learn there class and it would make your league championship way more interesting.
