They had 24 hour countdown timers on everything starting Sunday. Since they were added to the store during the sale, it’s only logical they were leaving when the sale was over, the date and time which they stated when the sale first started in a blog post. You can’t claim ignorance other than willful.
They went up on the 23rd at noon and ran for 6 days. The anniversary sale is ALWAYS in the 2nd half of August so most people plan for it and buy gems ahead of time, especially if they are buying them with gold since once a popular item hits the store the exchange rate will spike as everyone who wants it and is sitting on a pile of gold will first exchange gold from gems rather than pay cold hard cash.
The sale ran more than 6 days, To the OP, yes there were items that went away without any countdown timer.
Since conditions have been around from the beginning and resistance has not, I think it would be no problem whatsoever to nerf resistance without touching conditions. Nothing ties the two together.
I think there is a lot of merit to having the best stat combos in the game locked behind a “wall” so to speak with crafting. It makes sure that you put in the work to earn those stat combos that blow regular ones away. So no, I don’t think they should be allowed on the TP.
However, I don’t think it would have hurt too much to put them in vendors for rather large amounts of tokens in the HoT maps. Perhaps something like a special insignia that allows you to change the stats on your weapons/armor through the mystic forge, but it would have to be expensive. Several thousand currency for each item if all you had to do was buy it.
Fine by me as long as similar accommodations are made for WvW. I don’t object to having to work to get the best stuff, I simply object to that work being in the form of crafting, which as far as i’m concerned has never been anything except a distraction from actual gameplay.
No. These are rewards for playing through the HoT maps. If someone could get them without ever stepping foot in HoT maps then it would defeat the purpose of them being exclusive to that region.
“The Provisions Master now has a sixth pip that allows players to buy Heart of Thorns™ recipes, sigils, and runes from the Heroics Notary vendor for proofs of heroics and gold.”
You were saying?
They are still exclusive to HoT. (Very little is exclusive to a given map, since ANet introduced PvP and now WvW reward tracks.)
These rewards are not at all exclusive to a Hot map as you can get them in WvW without ever stepping foot into a Hot map.

Thank you Mike for the ‘heads up’ as well as all the hard work!
The Privateer weapon skins will always be 1 ticket, unlike tradable ones. For this reason, I might actually be able to complete that particular collection.
I haven’t even managed to average 1 full ticket per year thanks to RNG, so…. yeah. One ticket forever means absolutely nothing to me.
This, I don’t want to waste my time within the game farming keys. I’ve played that content maybe 10 times already. There really needs to be better ways of obtaining them.
Personally I just buy gems to get the keys, but each to their own I suppose.
30 bl chests needed to pull 10 scraps
480 chests needed for set of 16 skins
Wow, that’s going to be expensive! What’s that $525 usd? in or around there for 1 set?
Yup.

Wow, that’s going to be expensive, more than 40,000 gems!

If the senior population did increase it would certainly help the sales of gems. Simply announce 200 gems for sale for $19.95 and if you order right now you’ll double the amount to 400.
A cheese build is any build that is easier to complain about than it is to learn how to defeat.
Good to hear that it’s working as intended. Hopefully this ends all of the complaining.

Didn’t need to be inside information, just data mined from the previous SAB patch. That was when the last sell off started with supply growing from around 100.
Do we know if it was data mined? That kind of thing is usually like wild fire with threads from That Shaman popping up on Reddit and then speculation here, etc.
- edit- like this one.
Nope, no evidence at all of it being data mined. However plenty of evidence of it being leaked. Just consider that the halloween shields and greatsaws were unloaded, while the Staves were not. Seems like pretty accurate info was passed along.
Had above error, now I am logged back on as normal
14,8k gravedigger in a spvp match against chronomancer. I don’t think it’s nerfed.
Those reports were coming 24 hours ago, not today.
I think Anet’s new builds have restored much if not all of my lost power R/SR/S
Something has happened. Zerk/Str runes Reaper/Spite/SR not doing much in WWW. First 2 betas I could stand toe to toe and mow peeps down pretty good, now damage just isn’t there
It appears that some people are very easy to please! Oh well, I guess it’s always good to hear from a Dev, or one of their relatives!
Enameled Solitude is the first one I chose. Looks pretty good
The highest direct dmg build gives 100% of its stats to dd
The highest condi dmg does not
and that is why direct damage lays out considerably more damage.
HAHA, condition does more damage than zerk? My cleanse says NO! HAHA!!!
I think we should take a vote on it!

Within 30 days you can be refunded..
Well, yeah, they are obligated by consumer law to allow this. It doesn’t mean that they will make it easy, though. In fact, they don’t make it easy.
They actually are making it easy, now. What you’re saying is old info. If people had a problem they need to try again.

OT, yeah the Ninja edit of the FAQ is bad. I’m sure a lot of people saw the sale as a good time to get the game ready for the Xpac, hell I even convinced a friend to get the game as it was so cheap. An I told him there is an xpac coming out. It says you need the base game to play it. So he got it there an then. He was planning on waiting till the Xpac came out to see if there was a deal.on the base game and Xpac.
LOL, I like how you rant over a simple sentence. There’s a mega thread go post there.
Sure like you post in every thread that has nothing to do with that thread you ask a mod to merge it. The mega thread is about price + vets not getting the core game for free as they are paying the same price. This is about the Ninja edit of the FAQ that miss lead people in to getting the core game sooner who thought they where getting the better deal. If you read a thread or two, you might see the difference.
You know that ‘simple sentence’ is part of their contract agreement, right? You bet people ranted. Ghost editing after someone signs and agrees to buy something tends to kitten people off.
People use words like ghost editing so glibly.
Things in games change. FAQs are changed when they change. That’s how the world works.
Clearly the original plan was to make it two sales. There were probably people in the management for and against the plan and they discussed it. They made a decision. As time went on, one side gathers more backers and they decide to make the change.
When the change is made, the FAQ has to be changed.
You can call that a Ghost Change, but in reality it’s just changing the FAQ to fit the facts.
Anet needs to refund people for the entire period of time since that first fact went up, but editing a fact to make it accurate?
Call it what you want, but it’s done all the time and the only time anyone has a problem with is is when it changes to something they don’t want to hear.
So you think.telling.people.right up till the day after pre drops that they need to buy GW2 to play HoT is fine? Have 2 sales with in a few month of each other to get people.in to the game, who may or may not have waited for HoT to come out before spending there money on GW2. You think this is fine and ANet as a company have done nothing wrong? I know you normally defend ANet, but surely this must even seem a bit off to you.
I never said it was fine. Anet is offering refunds to people who bought it recently though. One guy on reddit got a refund on the core game (or upgrade to HoT for the difference in price) and didn’t lose his progress in the process. Customer service helped him out.
Now if Anet weren’t willing to help people out, you’d definitely have a point. But have you noticed since March, they haven’t offered the $10 sale. That’s probably because they were deciding that to do.
You keep right on drinking the Kool-Aid! No refunds without permanent acct closure.

“Note: The refund process includes permanent closure of the Guild Wars 2 account. If you wish to continue to play Guild Wars 2, or if you desire to play in the future, you will need to purchase a new serial code and create a completely new account. Characters, names, items, and other features from the refunded account cannot be transferred to a new or different account. Not all serial code purchases will be eligible for a refund. No refunds will be given for any account that has been terminated for a breach of the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement.”
This is incorrect, Anet has changed their minds and are providing HoT upgrades for the price difference (recent accounts only), and keeps account progress as well. My alt account was recently upgraded in this manner.

For those who think it’s great to wait until you gain 7 levels before spending any skill points, let’s see you apply this to real life. From now on you must wait until you’ve acquired 7 paychecks until you can spend any of them! Let’s see how that works out for you, after all it feels like more of a reward right??
Best analogy ever. After all without the skill points you can’t eat and you’ll starve and die. You won’t be able to pay your rent and you’ll be on the street.
I have a better analogy. How about you can have a spoonful of ice cream every day and that’s it…or you can have a bowl at the end of the week. That’s a whole lot closer.
Edit: You know pay already works like that. Many people get paid by the hour…but they don’t get paid every hour. They get paid once a week. Here in Australia most people get paid once a Fortnight, not when they actually earn the money. Sometimes one pay period won’t pay the entire rent and you have to wait to get paid again to pay it. People do it all the time.
More like, how bout a bowl of ice cream every day, or 7 bowls on Saturday. See how I did that? Enjoy your 7 bowls, the rest of us do it differently…
But the one skill point had limited use, much like a spoon of ice cream. So my analogy more appropriately reflects the actual situation.
You didn’t get a skill point at 67 and buy a skill and then a skill point at 68 and buy another skill. They were just spoons of ice cream. Trying to prove me wrong by making bad analogies isn’t likely to get you very far.
Your analogy only appropriately reflects your own slanted views, nothing else. The rest of the player base can recognize silly game changes when they see them, regardless of the implanted cheerleaders that attempt to prop them up.

Great to see my Unidentified dyes continue to climb….up….Up….UP !
It’s less about the question if or if not to make them sell able, but about the fact that the back piece was trade able and then got account bound. I don’t know why you wouldn’t unlock the skin once you completed the reward track, or at least give an option to repeat the reward track, because right now I’m here with a completed reward track but no skin, I’d be more than happy to loose the 20g I made from selling the back piece when it was trade able, because I wouldn’t have done it if I would’ve known that it would get changed/fixed.
Once this item was allowed to be sold, it should have remained that way. To look into your inventory and discover a tradable item is now account bound is going to leave everybody upset.
I feel that people who make ridiculous threads or posts on the forums should receive diminishing returns on their accounts.
The Trading Post
These items were neither removed, or refunded from the TP. They stayed until they were sold, giving some the advantage of being able to sell, while others were not. Rug was pulled out from beneath many here by Anet.
Thank you!!!! Thank you!!!!
Anet, for the love of all that is good and holy, please stop telling me this in map chat.
no torment/bleeding or poison is applied.
I’ve already posted this in the bug forum but figured to give a heads up here as well. The six piece bonus does not work with dagger storm.
The six piece bonus does not work with dagger storm.
Thank You
Is it ok to farm these bandits?
Within a reasonable limit, it should be fine. I wouldn’t expect much in terms of rewards; they’re just trash mobs, and kind of a pain.
Maybe with a party, it could be a fun place to use a Killstreak Experience Booster.
There is no “reasonable limit.” Farm away till your heart’s content…..
“All of the ascended back-item pieces that required 1 vial of Condensed Mists Essence can now be forged with Bloodstone Dust instead.”
This statement from the patch notes is clearly false.
“All of the ascended back-item pieces that required 1 vial of Condensed Mists Essence can now be forged with Bloodstone Dust instead.”
I’ll take Anet at their word that this is indeed true. If it is not, then they just cost people a lot of gold on buying up T6 mats….
The people you are looking for are gone like you were.
The situation stated here would also happen on a Rift PVE server. Your mistake was attacking a flagged player, albeit accidentally. The OP has a decent idea and I would also like to see more pvp oriented play.
Actually that situation was impossible once I rerolled on PVE because there is an setting to opt out of autoflag for PvP. That means that my damaging abilties absolutely ignore other players, even if they are flagged for PvP. While opted out, no one can attack me and I can’t accidentally flag myself.
And on a PvP server, you can’t opt out of PvP flagging, so outside of the “home” safe zone I could be attacked anywhere regardless of whether I initiated something or was just minding my own business – which I didn’t know when I started playing.
Anyway, there’s a reason why games like Rift, TOR, WoW etc. are losing their PvP servers – ganking requires a victim, and eventually the newbs realize that they’re going to get killed, then killed again and again by players camping the respawn points, near the quest hubs, outside the cave entrances, etc. When this happens they either quit the game or move to a different server, and eventually everyone who actually likes PvP is max level and it’s not so much fun when they can fight back. So eventually the griefers get bored and leave too, and the server becomes a ghost town that is sucking money from the company and gets shut down.
Considering this, why would a company want to ADD a PvP server where there were none before, just so that griefers will have some unsuspecting newbs to gank for a while before the victims catch on and the griefers get bored and everyone leaves?
If you think otherwise, write Anet and tell them so. I’m sure they have loads of market research that indicates interest in open PvP is going down, but if enough people tell them otherwise they will listen to the numbers and start up a PvP server.
Obviously this situation is possible on a pve server, exactly as I stated. Being familiar with game mechanics will keep you alert and alive. If you are so certain there is no interest in pvp, then why did the OP make this thread?
What I don’t understand is why, out of the 50+ servers that they have, they couldn’t spare a single server for open world. 49+ servers to be just like it is now, with 1 “omg everyone is out to get me” server to guest to for open world PvP fun.
It would be like a PvP vacation land.
Rift was my first MMO, and when I created my first toon I didn’t know what PVP involved and chose an open PVP server. During the first large scale event I was outside the capital city attacking invading mobs when I accidentally caught someone from a different faction in an AoE spell. I was maybe level 10 out of a max of 50, and he was 50, so of course when I got his attention he killed me pretty much instantly.
I rezzed and went back, where he killed me again. After the third time I logged out and deleted that toon, then restarted on a PVE-only server. A lot of casual/newbie players don’t understand PVP etiquette or why ganking is allowed. Faced with this situation, especially considering that GW2 is not sub-based, a lot of players will simply quit the game altogether instead of going to a new server.
Creating an open-PVP server will most likely cause more people to leave the game than it will bring into the game.
The situation stated here would also happen on a Rift PVE server. Your mistake was attacking a flagged player, albeit accidentally. The OP has a decent idea and I would also like to see more pvp oriented play.
4. A large amount of investors that contributed to maintain the stability of market has allocated their resource elsewhere, which is why many markets crashed, and if i correctly assume the market they invested in, then their wealth should almost doubled.
ROFL: You mean the people flipping claws and fangs to an unsustainable price have cut and run
So what exactly is this “unsustainable price” ??
maybe he meant unstable prices?
By unsustainable price he means that people have manipulated the price of claws and fangs above their equilibrium price. Therefore, without constant intercession by the manipulators the price falls back to the equilibrium price. Hence the price is unsustainable.
In contrast, if someone buys up all of the stock of some item (precursor), relists it a higher price, and that higher price becomes the new norm, then the higher price is sustainable.
Yes, but temporary market volatility caused by a major patch does not in any way equal unsustainable prices.

OK, look it up for yourself. The item was ancient bones, and the purchase was made about 24 hrs ago. See if you can make any kind of sense with this now that you can see exactly what happened. I have no reasonable explanation at this point.

edit – btw, this is not meant to be argumentative towards you @Charismatic. I appreciate your viewpoints!

This item is still trading in the mid 2.40 silver range so it is no where near any point where this buyer can think of selling it.
@phoenix,
This worked in reverse from what you did. Instead of buying at 2.0S he put in a giant buy order at a rediculous high price (2.33S). The sell price at the time was ~2.40-2.45 so I still am not sure of the strategy here.
Why on earth would somebody come in with a buy order thats way over the current “high buy”?
On a highly traded crafting material, somebody place a buy on 4000 at 2.33S. The current highest buy at the time was 2.00 silver.
/facepalm
