As per title my mouse judders and lags and won’t let me use it properly when the game lags i.e. mostly in WvW where there’s more demand graphically. My spare mouse does the same. Replaced batteries, cleaned, new mouse pad, everything. It’s directly related to game lag, not sure why this is happening but it’s breaking the game for me

Unplayable mouse lag/juddering in gw2

Hi all only started happening in the last 5 days or so, getting a weird mouse juddering/lag about 70% of the time. I.e. if I’m moving the mouse across the screen in one smooth motion it will stop-go-stop-go.

My mouse is wireless, however I have replaced the battery in both my main one and my spare and they both do the same juddering thing. I’ve tried moving it on different surfaces but still the same result. The juddering almost exclusively occurs when I’m playing gw2, and it gets a lot worse in more laggy situations like in WvW, so it’s definitely associated with lag.

Any ideas/advice?
Thanks

Hi all,

Does anyone have any max-damage spike builds that are fun in WvW? I’m not looking for anything with survivability (though if possible it would be a great bonus), just literally something to smack either a single or multiple targets with as much damage as possible in as short a space of time as possible!

Thanks

October…. CJ: “We’re doing balancing every quarter as of the beginning of 2016”

November…. Ranger nerf

December…. Ranger nerf

December…. CJ: “I repeat, we’re doing balancing every quarter as of the beginning of 2016”.

So clearly then buffs are considered “balancing”, and slowly ebbing away the functionality of the Ranger/Druid is not, so the devs are free to do it as much as they like between quarters.

@Sarie your entire post is one gigantic straw man argument. Nobody is asking for everything “straight away” so stop being ridiculous. In response, I’ll refer you to my post above:

-snip-

You can’t argue with feeling, and I for one feel like this game – in certain aspects of progression – is a massive grind. It’s just disguised by how easily you can get to level 80.

If Anet wanted to avoid grind while still requiring tasks to be completed to achieve legendary weapons, armour, ascended gear and certain skins/items, why did they make it such a chore?

That brings me to the key point I want to make. I’d be happy to play and progress through content to achieve these things if that content progression was actually fun.

I don’t log in for more than an hour per night now, and that’s only to play a few pvp matches and maybe some WvW. But hey, who am I to say that other people don’t find that content progression fun? I find it difficult to believe but as I said, you can’t argue with feeling.

Grind is part of any MMO. From lvl1 to lvlmax. You grind your real life too. Grind money, grind your stupid farm, grind your girlfriend, grind your wife.

LOL

So are you a married farmer with a mistress who works hard for his money?

In GW2 it doesn’t feel like a grind to get from 1-80 unless you’re having to do it over and over (which you don’t because of tomes thank God). That’s because you have the whole game to play through and can earn exp from pretty much anything, so you can pick and choose exactly what you want to do to level up. Unfortunately that’s not the case for progressing gear, and there are specific tasks and mind-numbing things you get pidgeon-holed into doing.

I don’t disagree with the real-life grind though. I’m sat typing this from my office while I should probably be doing some work. God I hate this job but gotta grind that money.

it’s MORE of a grind.

“Hi we’re Anet and we believe that our game should have minimal or no grind so that everyone can enjoy it!

We believe that only tiny, marginal improvements on stats for some armor/weapons will mean that nobody will be barred from any gameplay. So yeah sure, go ahead and grind out ascended and legendary stuff, but if you can’t afford the time to do that – don’t worry! Nobody will bar you from dungeons/raids/PvE/guilds/team roaming just because you have slightly lower armor stats than them!"

“Also, you can’t enjoy the Elite Spec you basically bought HoT for because we’ve locked that behind a load of HP grind too! Oh, and you’ll have to do it aaaalll over again for each of the 8 other Elite Specs. Enjoy!”

Doesn’t matter how small the difference is, to MMO players better gear is better gear. And if you don’t have the best gear, you’re not gonna be included. Because Anet created such a huge grind gap between exotic and ascended stuff, the casuals are paying the price. I can’t comment on official stats, but I’d imagine there’s a not-insignificant number of casual players who are entirely put off particularly after the implementation of HoT, myself included. I guess this is just a non-casual-friendly game anymore and I should find something else. Fallout 4 seems pretty good.

Rangers/Druids in GW2 will NEVER improve. I feel compelled to make that assertion based on the evidence of the last >3 years.

“We recognise that the Ranger in particular has problems so there will be a lot of work done on this profession and the Druid going forward”.

HoT was released a month ago and we’ve seen nothing but nerfs, alongside almost zero communication from Irenio. Compounding my severe disappointment at the elite spec is also the grind, monotony and boredom of HoT content.

Lots of evidence says that this isn’t the case. Abundantly clear my previous comment about people wanting super casual Skyrim/Fallout type content is spot on.

What evidence? Sources please.

The Druid is the only Espec whereby the developer(s) has openly admitted that he’s shoe-horned it into the role of a healer. Sure, I won’t be so ignorant to say the Druid line can’t be worked into other builds. But by God as poor as they were the existing Ranger builds function better without the Druid line at all.

What evidence do you want that you have not already ignored?

Druids are being used in high level sPvP by good teams. They are being used in Unranked pretty often and doing well. In PvE there are tons of people playing zerker druids and doing very well.

Tell me how many Berserker Warriors you have seen? They are the true worst elite spec and its not particularly close.

Also please where is your evidence for “worst spec?” A quick look around tells you that you are incorrect about Druid being worst but thats not as easy as crying on the forums I guess.

Hey thanks for the video + the build.

Coupla quick Qs – do you find remorseless works better overall with this build than Lead the Wind? and have you ever toyed with Celestial Shadow over Verdant Etching? I’m guessing VE is preferred for the extra condi removal/healing?

Cheers!

Those two traits you mention are two that are the most flexible for the build.

When I was trying it out during BWE3 I thought I would definitely be using Celestial Shadow over Verdant Etching, but so far I’ve found VE to have a bit more utility for the build overall. Instead of offering me a stealth when I leave CA (which is strong especially when kiting), I gain access to lower cds on 2 utility skills along with AoE blind and a small heal (around 500 with no HP). It mainly comes down to how I believe I get more consistent application and use from VE than I would from VE.

The remorseless vs LtW question is even closer imo. I really enjoy remorseless for the sure crit along the damage increase (killer with glyphs) and vuln. It also synergizes extremely well with the rune choice, clarion bond, and having any revenant within the group since it has no ICD. LtW is great for the piercing, but with staff I can always use the staff to get that same piercing effect from the AA. LtW becomes more effective the more people you are fighting, so it depends on the situations you are expecting.

Awesome, I wouldn’t have thought that far into the Remorseless trait to be honest but it all makes sense. I’d personally keep the VE choice and probably take LtW simply for the addition to kiting and any backlining in skirmishes. Also – just played your build for like 15 minutes in EB, and when skirmishes do occur, finding it thuper fun to Staff 3 into the enemy group and bomb your glyphs/entangle for laughs :P.

Give the most solid profession the best (possibly) elite spec,
Give the crappiest profession the worst elite spec – Ranger/Druid.

I would disagree that a gimmicky trap build is the best elite spec. I also thought Druid was considered a really solid support spec.

I was only taking OP’s assertion on the DH being strongest to be honest :P

Druid offers decent support, very true. But…

1. It’s not needed at the moment (until Raids – we’ll see then)
2. Only offers support when it’s alive – Druids are heavily susceptible to physical damage and especially CC
3. In pvp this support is only viable if not more than 1 person is focusing pressure on the Druid while they are supporting allies
4. Druids offer terrible damage output and Druid gameplay is 90% pidgeon-holed into being some kind of healer, whereas all other elite specs offer much more build diversity.

Free healing? A druid in ca form is a sitting duck.

I don’t see how they have any worse defense than normal form, AoE 4 second daze heal into a 4.5k AoE heal channel and/or huge damage slow AoE ending in an immobilize into another daze heal. Leave form and easily get back to it in around 10 seconds if you can aim your staff beam any good.

Another one who’s never played Druid.

While waiting for the incredibly long cast times of Druid skills in CAF, you’re getting dazed, stunned, knocked back, immobilized, launched, feared and a load of damage piled on you. Base healing was severely nerfed for the Druid. For CAF skills to be any good you have to invest heavily in healing power. This then comes at a cost of toughness or vitality. Druids take an absolute pounding from physical damage, particularly when there’s even a hint of CC around, and especially when there’s more than one player attacking them.

Druids broken even without minstrel

Bryzy.2719

You’re right OP, Druids are broken. And they need buffing.

You’ve clearly never played Druid and therefore have zero understanding of the bad state they’re in, and what you’re basically doing is whining about a profession role functioning as intended – i.e. bringing an improved heal support function to the team.

What Druids lack entirely is stability, and general CC mitigation apart from RaO. Add to this the fact that you’d have to be a real crappy player to let a support Druid actually kill you. In team fights a Druid keeping its teammates alive for longer, in a way, is its damage output.

Basically what you’re asking for is a nerf to the Druid’s capability in achieving this. So what does that leave Druids with then? They have next to no damage and now you want to leave them with no more support than what other professions can bring. That would make the entire profession obsolete.

L2P.

Soldier Druid for PvP/WvW [Easy and strong]

in Ranger

Posted by: Bryzy.2719

Bryzy.2719

Haven’t tried it so I cant say for sure. but from the looks of it, this build is weaker compared to other druid builds which are posted on this forum.

Why did you take soldier over cleric /crusader/celec?
With almost no offensive stats and BM trait line, how do u push for damage?
Your build offers no speed bonus.
Instinctive Reaction over allies aid ?

I never claimed it was the strongest build. You should really try this build out before posing these questions. But I’ll answer them.

I stated that there is a lot of room for tweaking, so in answer to your last 2 questions: feel free to swap out to Allies Aid and Natural Stride. If you swap to Natural Stride you’re going to cancel out the healing benefit of the glyphs, though if you’re roaming in WvW then you can flick between the two.

Cleric is much more team-heal focused. Cleric offers far less toughness and vitality. You’re less tanky and you have much less HP with a cleric build. A significant draw-back for Druids (less experienced ones in particular) who use full Clerics is that you’re incredibly susceptible to burst damage. Coupled with the long-ish cast-times of CAF skills, it’s going to be much harder to play, hence the ‘easy’ in my title. I should mention however that if your purpose in WvW is to support your zerg/group, then you are indeed better off with Clerics.

Soldier’s primary stat is power. Therefore you’re not only tanky with high HP and good healing/condi-removal sustain, but you do enough damage to pressure your enemies without feeling like you’re there trying not do die whilst healing the crap out of yourself and everyone around you. Smokescale does sufficient damage to add pressure without the BM line. Taking the BM line (which you’re perfectly entitled to do to suit your playstyle) would cancel out the self-sustain aspects of either Nature Magic or Wilderness Survival, whichever of those you choose to replace. In my opinion the BM line is subpar compared to NM and WS.

No idea if anyone’s posted something similar, apologies if so.

This is a very simple build and there’s LOTS you can tweak on this. I’ve only been playing it for a few pvp matches so far but with 26k health and 3.1k armour you’re gonna be the mother of all tanks, you’ll have great condi removal, good personal and even allied healing, not-bad power damage output, and great cc.

- Longbow is your primary damage weapon
- Flick to staff for your heals/projectile defense/mobility
- Glyphs provide good CC, condi removal and heals for both yourself and allies
- CAF for your panic heals/ally support

Incredibly simple build to play, great if you’re just getting used to Druid too.

I put this together in like 2 minutes so it’s not going to be perfect – there’s lots of room to play around with traits, pets and weapon sigils depending on your playstyle.

If you have them unlocked, you can try Runes of the Druid instead of dolyak runes to make better use of the power from the Instinctive Reaction trait in Nature Magic while still maintaining high HP.

1st) Mascot of HoT? I disagree, pretty sure that Revenant is.

2nd) MOST of my guild is super excited for Druids place in RAIDS! Druids have the best healing potential in the entire game. Watch them be sought out after for raids.

Rubi Bayer suggested in one of the POIs leading up to the HoT release that they’re saving the HoT mascot Espec reveal till last. Makes sense since Druid + HoT both = nature. But w/e that’s a minor debate.

I’ll be keeping an eye to see how raids develop. As it stands, Druids are generally pretty squishy (unless healing power is sacrificed to some extent for toughness/vit) and incredibly susceptible to burst damage, and can die in an instant if not absolutely on-point with heals, to the extent of predictive healing before you’ve even been damaged. No idea how this will affect performance in Raids. Also there’s the prospect that other professions after a while will get used to Raids and how they function, so will we see other professions like the rev and ele, who have better DPS than the druid but healing capabilities that aren’t far off, displace the need for Druids in Raids in the future?

Complete and utter botch job. The Elite Spec that was supposed to be the mascot profession of HoT. Looked good at first, now come the nerfs. Except this time, people whining on the PvP forums didn’t even get the first say – the devs beat them to it with the first wave of unnecessary nerfs.

As with Ranger, there remains a mountainous, growing pile of required fixes and buffs. Nothing addressed as was promised. Just time spent implementing unnecessary over-nerfs.

So what’s the point of this thread? It’s an advisory one. Avoid Druid and you’ll have a much better, more fun time in HoT. You’ll also not have to face a community that wages war on the devs whenever Ranger/Druid gets something remotely viable in PvP, until they get their way. Mark my words – Ancient Seeds, our last viable GM trait, nerf coming next.

Yeah what you’re saying certainly makes sense, it’s just that there are still ways of communicating current agendas while making it clear that there are no promises on the table. It’s the fact that they decide to just keep us in the dark about absolutely everything instead of saying “We’re currently testing these traits/utilities/weapon skills to see if our improvement ideas can work. There are no guaranteed changes on the table for any of these yet, but we’re working on it and we’re aware of the issues. We’ll communicate why or why not certain changes have/haven’t been made in due course.”

This is CLASSIC Ranger treatment all over again. I posted a thread the other day postulating this would happen.

The absolutely mountainous list of fixes and buffs that Ranger and Druids require… and all we receive are unreasonable nerfs?

Why don’t devs consider how balance updates impact community morale – particularly for Rangers – when there’s been no prior communication nor explanation as to why these unnecessary nerfs are implemented?

Why is it that there’s clearly time being invested in weeding out and nerfing “OP” aspects of our profession – the results of which are seen immediately – while the waves of fixes and improvements we need are nowhere to be seen?

One paragraph from Irenio per week (or even every other week!) to update us on what’s coming up for us is all we need. Even if nothing is guaranteed, we’d still appreciate an update on what is currently being considered. The lack of communication on Ranger/Druid improvements is the worst thing for community morale.

Healer role: commander tag necessary?

in Ranger

Posted by: Bryzy.2719

Bryzy.2719

If your team mates can take the initiative to group to you when they need healing this would help alleviate the issue of trying to play healing whack-a-mole with them. Hence the need to tag-up and shout “to me for heals!”.

But as others have said, the whole idea that healing is now near enough a necessity in some content is a new concept for GW2, so it’s going to take people time to adjust to the fact that they can actually rely more heavily on other players for their healing.

Simple Idea: Overhead marker while in CAF

in Ranger

Posted by: Bryzy.2719

Bryzy.2719

We need some kind of marker to let people know who they can rally to for support. This feature would be particularly necessary in the heavier PvE events and WvW.

The commander tag was a potential solution, but this is 300g and can confuse the map if the Druid isn’t already the commander. The mentor tag was another potential solution, but AFAIK this cannot be used in WvW.

There seems to be a simple alternative: give Druids an overhead marker of some kind while they’re in Celestial Avatar Form. This needn’t be traited nor integrated as a utility; just purely a graphical addition. It also needn’t show up on the map. The graphic might take the form of a celestial body of some kind or the Druid’s profession insignia, whatever. With this in place, players would know where the Druid is and when the Druid is in Celestial Avatar Form (and therefore in heal-pumping mode).

This simple change would be a huge QoL improvement to group content wherever healing and support is more necessary, and, on a particularly selfish note, would save me having to shell out 300g for a CT!

I’m not 100% familiar with mentor tags but I’ve read that they can’t be used outside of maguuma or PvE in that sense. So I don’t think we could pop them in WvW

@OG – I agree, I’d love to have some kind of marker built-in to the Druid profession, even if it was just something subtle to say “hey guys over here, look! phree healz!” But I think Anet are reluctant to give us more visible health bars because they’ve previously said they don’t want us looking at the UI all the time and would rather us focus on enjoying the gameplay. I am less bothered about visible health bars though, just due to the fact that if someone needs healing they should take the initiative to rally towards the Druid themselves rather than have the Druid doing the chasing 100% of the time.

Are you guys finding the use of a commander tag to be a useful addition to your role as a full healer/support Druid, whether this be PvE or WvW?

The reason I ask is because I don’t currently have one (God I wish I’d got one back when they were 100g…) and I’ve been finding it difficult trying to coordinate people around my healing in large map events or WvW. I feel this would be helped a lot by calling “heals on purple tag!” or something, which I’ve not seen anyone in WvW do yet, which surprises me. Gold burns kitten in my pocket in this game but I’ve managed to save up 348g so I now have more than enough to buy one, but I don’t want to spend that if it’s not really going to help my role as a dedicated healer in these scenarios.

I am also disappointed that the “I want it now and I’m going to cry until I get it”-fraction wins again…
And now they will feel justified and will keep whining until they get legendaries as login rewards.

Beautiful example of a ridiculous Strawman argument.

After the 250 HP update, people won’t get their Elite Specs right away. 250 HPs still require time and effort for most people to get.

In fact what we’re seeing is that only “hardcore” players who likely don’t have jobs, or are students, or are generally people with a lot of time spare to play this game were the only ones who were able to unlock their Elite Specs straight away.

People such as yourself who make childish non-arguments towards “whiners” (and by “whiners” you mean the majority of people criticising a legitimately bad game feature) most likely fall into the above category, and as such ignorantly fail to recognise the fact that many players cannot afford more than 1-2 hours per night to play this game due to real life responsibilities that consume a lot of time.

Many of the, as you say, “whiners” on here have in fact been saying the same thing: keep the “earning” aspect there, but reduce the unnecessary grind. Not a single person on here has asked for their Elite Spec to be handed to them straight away. Grow up.

Complete rubbish. My first character/main had 213 after Map Completion and thats with maxing everything. at 250 he could have Druid almost immediately. An Elite spec, unlocked, 20 minutes into the release of the new content. thats bullkitten, thats too easy. it should be HARD. you shouldnt come out the gate at 90%. 250 HP to an elite is too easy and I hate that its to easy. Its not special anymore, it doesnt show you mastered Maguuma, multiple zones, and put 40 hero loci of work into your character. it cheapens it.

Congratulations you helped prove a point in my argument.

Those people should not be playing a game if they barely have time for anything
Personal life problems of some people should never have any kind of impact on things like this, and it’s a shame cause most of the people who are also enjoying the expansion are playing the game or using their time with other important things, instead of flooding the forums and reddit with whining.

I’m really not sure what you just said there.

Regardless, trying to belittle people’s feedback by calling it “whining” doesn’t make it any less valid.

Simply put, right now might prove to be impossible to pin point exactly what is going wrong with your particular situation. In general there are thousands of us who are currently unable to even get the client to launch right now. If you are able to log in, it is recommended that you do so, recreate the crash scenario and provide support with the information from your crash files, which may also help them determine if there is an issue with your hardware compatibility as well as provide them with additional information regarding the global issue at hand.

Thanks I’ve just seen a few other threads with crash reports. No idea where to get all that info but can it just be done from “Event Viewer?” in windows?

I’ve posted about this issue quite a few times but nobody seems to know why it happens

I play Guild Wars 2 on my laptop, it’s got crappy specs – i7 at 2.8GHz, Nvidia GT540M, 8gb ram, but it plays the game well enough. When I save enough money i’ll get a desktop.

I’ve had this problem for the last 3 months or so, but only recently has it become severe. It’s got to the point where the game will crash my whole computer every 5-10 minutes, with a 50/50 chance of it either completely crashing my laptop, or it recovering with this message appearing (see pic, but note that it’s an old screen shot and the driver number has since been updated). It’s made the game completely unplayable.

I’ve asked everywhere but nobody seems to know what’s up. Up to now I’ve done the following:

- I’ve ensured my graphics drivers are up to date, and clean installed multiple times

- I’ve ensured any windows updates related to “kernel blah blah” drivers are up to date

- I regularly de-dust my laptop and have always kept it on a well ventilated stand.

- Following the advice of a forum user on here I disabled the nvidia shield streaming service using command prompt because he suggested this might be causing it, but it hasn’t solved the issue

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can anyone help? I’m at a total loss

Awesome.

Now go do it again on ten other characters. From the exact same hero points every single time.

Ok, so that’s 50 days if you really need to unlock a specialization on 10 characters.

GW2, base game, has been out for 3 years. If you really need to burn through everything new on every single character on your account in less than 2 months, you have pretty unrealistic expectations.

Without wanting to create a Strawman argument, what you’re essentially saying is that there is a grind required that is at least 2 months of hardcore playing (the WoW episode of Southpark springs to mind) for people to fully enjoy their profession content. This is entirely against ArenaNet’s anti-grind policy that they’ve emphasised from day 1.

Casual – you have all weekend to play, and maybe get 2 hours in because of other things needing done around the house.
THAT is a casual player.
If you spent 10 hours or so this weekend playing…you aren’t casual. You devoted quite a lot of hours to it if so.

Casual is a term for those that only play occasionally, if you are playing every day…or playing for long stretches at a time…you aren’t casual.

+1

I have a full time job, I’m out of the house at 7am every weekday, leave work anywhere between 5pm and 7:30pm depending on overtime required. I get MAX 1 hour per night to play GW2 after I’ve done all my housekeeping stuff, shopping, financials, other commitments etc. At the weekend it’s not much different as, like most people, I leave my biggest real-life commitments until the weekend.

I am an entirely casual player and feel utterly robbed by this 400HP requirement. That’s NOT to say I think we should be given everything on a plate right at the start though. If the requirement was 200-250HP for example, it would have been far more reasonable but would still required a fair bit of work from the majority of the playerbase to achieve their Espec. I DO think the Espec is something that needs to be ‘achieved’ but NOT through this disgusting, mind-numbing grind. A point that a lot of people are making on the forums is that they wanted to be able to at least play some of the new HoT content with their shiny new fully-kitted out Espec.

Re. Irenio: sadly, it doesn’t really matter how much he is in our corner, if certain other devs (who have the final say) still want to keep Ranger down.

This was something that also concerned me but didn’t want to name names in the OP. We saw first hand the forced input of another dev in the form of a whacking great nerf before any consultation, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that same dev is hindering Ranger progress for the sake of his idea of “balance” behind the scenes.

I really hope this isn’t the case; I genuinely like what Irenio has done with the Druid, but it’s still in the state of ‘potentially great’ whereas all other Especs have been great since the second or third beta weekends.

It begins with unnecessary, unannounced nerfs after having just 2 days to play the new profession during a BWE.

This is then followed by a few minor “buffs” (i.e. fixes) that barely scratch the surface of what the Druid/Ranger needs (though the pet/spirit damage one was particularly nice admittedly).

The thousands of pages of well-constructed feedback and solutions to virtually every issue Ranger/Druid has (which mostly just repeat the same few core problems) are looking like they’ll go unaddressed for God knows how long.

Anet have rarely tackled the core problems. The solutions have been staring them in the face from the forums for years but they’ve only ever skirted around them, patching things up here-and-there.

But it’s still very early days for the Druid. I’m glad that this time round we at least have a specific dev to reach out to. I hope that Irenio gets us off to a good start with Druid staff and trait fixes. E.g. Even just buffing staff 1, staff 2, staff 4, swapping Natural Stride with one of the minor traits and most importantly, reinstating astral force generation while out of combat would be a good start. I realise Irenio has been reading and is well aware of most of these issues, but just being ‘aware’ doesn’t cut the mustard for Rangers and Druids. I just hope awareness turns into actions, and that he makes the changes come to fruition sooner rather than later.
