I’m actually pretty shocked Anet haven’t replied to this. Just days into the release of a major expansion you’d think they’d be pretty hot on the communication front for such a huge issue.

I spent £850 on building my new desktop JUST for HoT. Throw in the £35 for the game and that’s too close to £1k I’ve spent.
I feel like I’ve been robbed by this insane 400 HP requirement to unlock my elite spec.
And before all the fanboys scream at me – no, I’m NOT asking for “everything to be handed to me on a plate straight away”. What I AM asking for is a non-ridiculous requirement, such as 200 HP to unlock the Espec.
I KNOW these things have to be earned, but I have a job, and real-life commitments that take up the majority of my time. I can afford to play GW2 for 3 hours per day at the weekends and half that on weekdays. Again, I don’t have a problem with “earning” the content in-game, but I DO have a problem with this ridiculous mind-numbing grind. It’s going to be weeks if not months before I can access my full Espec, and this amount of grind required to unlock the Espec was NOT advertised with the expansion.
Incredibly disappointed by this release.
So you want to be handed everything correct? That’s what ur asking for? Cause that’s what it sounds like.
Nice strawman fallacy.
He never said he wanted everything handed to him, he said the amount of work required to get the Espec is ridiculous, which it is. Most people knew that they had to earn the specs, but the sheer amount of hours this will take was NOT advertised.
The fact that legendaries will take a long time to create WAS advertised.
If the Espec had required a total of, say, 200 HPs to unlock, that would still require an amount of work and mastery gain but it would be much more fair than what is currently required.

what ruins it is that the majority of those hero points are locked behind the mastery system, which is designed to be a long term system.
40 accessible hero challenges would be fine, locking them behind mind-numbing mastery grind walls isn’t fine.
This is the main problem. I started with 100 points, so 300 to go. The mastery system is taking FOREVER and it just feels like a completely boring grind.

I don’t have the TIME to spend going after all these HPs. I have a LIFE outside of this game. I spent my £35 expecting to be able to play my new Espec within a reasonable amount of time. This is just completely eye-watering, mind-numbing grind, nothing more.
To get the 10-pointers in the jungle you have to faff about for ages trying to work out where they are, only to realise that you have to spend another age trying to level up to get the god kitten mastery that you need to access the HP. This is truly frustrating.
Why couldn’t it have been 200 HPs? That would have been so much more reasonable kitten .
Are you missing a motherboard?
Oh yeah. Hopefully he notices or just left it out.
Oh yeah, I did notice that the motherboard wasn’t specified. I bought it from a very large, reputable ebay shop that lets you add your own specs to the build, but because there’s choices between different RAM sizes and between AMD and Intel for example, i think they have to change the motherboard as per what spec you want, which im guessing is why they haven’t bothered to state what it is. (hopefully, anyway…)
Great thanks guys, feel better about it now! As my friend is pretty hot on computer tech his standards are pretty high… I know his rig was like £2800+, watercooled and all that stuff so in hindsight he probably wasn’t the most objective person to ask lol.
My laptop is packing up and I thought it’s finally time to get a desktop pc. My tech knowledge is limited but I know the basics. I know it’s the most cost-effective way, but building my own isn’t an option due to time, knowledge, work and IRL hobbies.
Anyway HoT release was my final push to spend the money and I got this set-up (see pic) for £705 (this price also includes a 22" full HD samsung monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse).
I showed my friend and explained that all I do on my computer is play gw2, watch movies and browse the internet generally, no heavy multi-tasking and no video-editing. However he said all that wasn’t worth £705, and that I’ve wasted my money. Bearing in mind all I need it for and that this was my absolute MAX budget, is he right?
(I should add that I do want to play GW2 on fairly decent graphics settings, but not necessarily max)
The 400 points include the sigils/runes/skins mate, the skills/traits will probably be around 200~ points. You won’t need 400 to fully unlock the trait line.
This, a significant amount of points will also be for non-mandatory, non-trait and non-skill stuff, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Plus you’ll have a blast running through all this saucy new content so those Jungle Hero Points will fly by.
Irenio has already said in one of the threads on here that he’s looking at changing it.
Brilliant change especially for spirit use in dungeons, can’t wait.
Also Irenioooooo while you’re onliiiineee….. any chance there’s been improvements to CA skill 1? (pls pls pls AoE increase and insta cast time pls pls pls pls )
It took me 5 seconds to find this on youtube:
It took me a split of second to see this is not a fractal.
It’s as close as he’s going to get given the brevity of bwe3, not sure what difference you’d expect

Thanks both for your advice, and thanks for that link
Hey guys,
MSI gaming laptop that I’ve used for 2 years has packed in. I don’t have the expertise or time to build my own PC (I realise it’s always the cheapest and best value but at the moment unfortunately it’s not an option).
Anyway I need to get up and running in time for HoT release and I’ve found this relatively cheap desktop on ebay – my budget is really limited so I can just afford to buy a HD screen and OS for this computer if I was to get it. Judging by the specs do you guys think it could handle GW2 well? Really appreciate advice!
Okay I’m more sober now, are the might and fury benefits from altruism runes too small to warrant replacing the monk rune +10% outgoing healing to allies with?
also remind meh not to post on forums when drunk kek
Bearing in mind dat might and fury support from ull-troo-izm runes
Ultron runes
Alterior Motive runes
Ultrakitten runes
lol
Just out of interest was it named after the phrasing in Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”?
You devs can be pretty creative even beyond designing games can’t you mm?
A Druid’s pet becomes a Spiritual Aspect that circles them like a wisp whenever the Druid enters Celestial Avatar form.
While all pet commands disappear during this time, the Aspect provides a passive buff to the Druid and allies, alongside boons associated with that pet family. The buff and boons are of course either offensive, defensive or supportive.
Upon leaving Celestial Avatar form, the pet returns from its “trip to the moon” with temporarily enhanced abilities, possibly in the form of boons.
Anyone who complains about P/P being overpowered, even by indirect inference like that, has clearly never played Thieves, been in a party with Thieves, or so much as seen a Thief at the zoo.
By far the weakest weapon set on the class, probably one of the weakest weapon sets in all of GW2. PvP folks really ought to at least make some token attempt to remember that the game does not begin and end in the Mists.
LOL @ super quick rushing to nerf-defence. Your last sentence is so incredibly cliche to hear from Thieves it’s not even funny anymore.
19k unloads are OP.
I’d rather over heal then under heal.
I have a full DPS set and a full healing set.
If the tinfoil hat association of GW2 is right, then no big deal… I have a dps set nothing lost. If anet is right and it is very challenging, then I have a healing set that will put everyone’s to shame in PvE.
Like any game, it’s better to heal for too much then not enough. I’d rather spike heal for 9k-12k and keep my team mates alive if they over aggro or mess up on timing. This also prevents heated kittening matches with DPS fighting among each other. You end up being a larger asset to the team if you’re able to pick them up and and keep them alive through the over aggro then being the one to blame for failing to keep the party alive.
This.
Also, like Tragic says it’s not the end of the world if we are focused entirely on healing – we can also still provide valuable passive group DPS support through traits and utilities (God I hope they fix spirits though).
I actually want to enjoy the game content I’m playing. Everyone is so focused on getting through raids and dungeons as quickly as possible while building for maximum damage output. Going through the same mindless routine and button mashing every single time in this way is not fun. It’s a chore just to get to the loot at the end.
I want to be able to feel like I’m legitimately playing a role when I take part in raids, and that my place as a Druid healer is completely vital for the team. Although I’ll be playing through the same content over time, I want each encounter to be different from the last, bringing new challenges. What if the boss uses different attacking patterns next time? What if you have a couple of weak links in your team who need more healing support than the others? What if you have to keep changing your long-range support, short-range support and damage tactics each time? It’s things like this that add up to fun, dynamic gameplay that keeps you on your toes and keeps you engaged every time.
I care less about the prize and more about the fun I have on the journey.

RANGEr.
Need better ways to contribute to/benefit from groups while playing at range. If I wanted to play double melee I would just play warrior. Please someone post what the definition of ranger is so I can laugh at trolling you
Lol kinda defeats the objective if you tell people you’re trolling them before they’ve even responded. I’d work on that :P
Apparently it worked anyway lol.
Lol not sure how seeing as I gave an observation rather than a reaction?
Unless your response to my response is supposed to be a troll too? :P Either way I’m sooooooo not mad so I shall remain un-trolled thank youuuuuuu
I meant the post directly after yours where someone raged about players fighting at long range
Oh ya that makes sense, my bad :P
I imagine that this will just get merged into the main Druid feedback thread but w/e.
Celestial Avatar:
1. Skill 1 spam heal needs a larger AoE and insta-cast so there is 0 casting lag. The design behind this skill points towards it being our main burst heal ability with Lunar Impact being secondary. Add these changes and it will take that throne.
2. Skill 2 feels lackluster, however a larger AoE may fix this.
3. Skill 3 is great, I spent most of my time in CA waiting for this to come off cooldown.
4. Skill 4 also feels effective, don’t personally feel this needs improving. During BWE3 I ensured this was flicked on when waiting for Lunar Impact to come off cooldown.
5. Skill 5 I only used when others were on cooldown. Felt a bit redundant really, but I’ll admit I’ve not properly tested this skill.

Its a jack of all trades that can fill a role as needed as the game goes on. Right now it can 1 v 1 pretty well, it can +1, it can “troll” far pretty well, and it can kinda hold node when it needs to. + Unlike some other professions the team fight presence of a ranger is definitely felt.
And yet an ele will do pretty much all of that better. That’s the problem, it’s not that rangers are bad, it’s just they don’t have a real spot at the moment.
Edit: I’m fairly certain I’ve seen you say pretty much the same thing recently.
Aye, difference between Eles and Rangers is easy to see in PvP. You could have 4 of your team on point, but once a single enemy d/d cele rides in you know you’re in for a world of heavy CC and sustained damage on top of their mobility, keeping you all busy while the other team caps points. NOT TO MENTION THEIR GODkitten "LOL GG CONDI RANGERS GL TRYING TO CONDI BURST ME WHILE I’M ABOVE 90% HP, WHICH IS LIKE, FOREVER.

Even with full clerics and monk runes healing power for the Druid left much to be desired.
You should nerf the coefficient for zerkers as you’ve said, but you should also boost the healing ability of those who choose to build as dedicated healers/supporters.
In any game mode, whether PvE, PvP or WvW? Did you even notice it?
I specced into full cleric/monk runes healbot mode and did a fair whack of healing during some SM sieges and in PvE boss fights (blasts of 5k HP heals to multiple allies, high regen, lots of condi removal, blast finishers etc). I asked in the game if anyone found it useful but either nobody noticed as they were too busy DPS-ing or they said “no”.
I did feel like Druid healing wasn’t as good as we thought it was going to be. I think they need to make healing scale better with healing stats and improve Celestial Avatar skill 1.
Celestial Form Skill 1
1. Needs a much larger radius
2. Needs to activate quicker
Both. not 1 or 2. Both.
Allies are far too quick to move out of the way, and in skirmishes and other damage-intensive environments you simply cannot afford the time to run around playing whack-a-mole with this skill. This feels like it was designed to be the main burst heal skill of the Celestial Avatar, but I didn’t use it at all in the BWE apart from one time I was solo-PVEing and could more easily spam it on myself, and even then smashing the 1 key too quickly seemed to cancel out the skill cast. Otherwise the bulk of my time during Celestial Avatar form was spent waiting for Lunar Impact (skill 3) to come off cooldown and just generally flicking between skills 3 and 4.
Don’t know why you would remove bm resounding timber alone is worth it.
it is a hard choice… but nature magic and wildnerss survival are both better traitlines than BM
Is it because all the other elite specs are so powerful?
I’m using my same tank condi bunker build except swapping out Beastmastery for Druid traitline, and I survived way better with my old build.
Would have been cooler if the staff wasn’t completely useless at keeping up condi pressure.
I was more thinking you’d use it as a swap for mobility and then healing up, only to swap back for DPS. Plus, I really think they are going to add some condi onto the staff. The AA is a prime candidate for a burn for example.
I hope so. I think I’m one of the few on here who think staff is actually a bit crap as it is. The foundations are good but it needs improvements.
yes yes yes, I hate having to predict when i’m going into combat in wvw for example and having to re-adjust my traits to replace natural stride with verdant etchings.
Thanks for the ideas peeps – updated.
In other words, if ya go full healing… YOU GET NOTHING, YOU LOSE, GOOD DAY SIR!
+1
Never go full healing.
+1
m8 I think he just went full healing…
Not even once.
Hi Gaile – said my piece already in this thread but just to add a thanks to you for giving us the structure and providing confirmation that our ideas are at least being heard. The latter being one of the most important things to many (I think I’m safe to assume “many” without stats) in the Ranger community.
Staff Druid seems to be rather power-based. If I want a good heal/condi hybrid, any suggestion?
Many thanks!
For a bunker condi build with lots of healing you could try:
Weaponset: Axe/Torch + staff (that’s if you want to use Staff at all, otherwise you could take the current Axe/Dagger + Sword/Torch condi set up)
Armour and trinkets: Apothecary (PvE/WvW) or Settlers (PvP) both are condi, toughness and healing power stats
Runes: Runes of the Undead (toughness + condi damage, 7% of toughness converted into condi damage) These are very cheap too!
Traits: Wilderness Survival/Nature Magic/Druid (individual traits are your choice but the best ones are fairly obvious to pick)
Sigils: geomancy and bursting I’d take, but these may be switched at your whim.
Thanks!
IF I want to keep Beastmastery, which one of the two – Wilderness and Nature Magic – can I drop?
I couldn’t say to be honest – you’d have to go on gw2skills editor and cross compare them. Personally – and I think most would agree – Wilderness Survival and Nature Magic are both better than Beastmastery because they offer better traits… but it depends how exactly you plan on playing your build. If you want more pet involvement then yes take Beastmastery, but it’s too tough to choose between WS and NM >.<
so gw2skills has been updated
so hears the rough front liner wvw build

Legit can’t wait to go full cleric with monk runes and test just how brutal our healing power is gonna be

Depends on how healing power scales with Druid skills but ill try something like this at first
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNBMhNYkRFaYx+VgrFCEClP7zwtvleAU1A-TVCEABJcIAEUJYnq/olyP62foD9BIcEAA4BA8wJAgUA+tMC-wDruid Traits: Druidic Clarity, Natural Stride, Ancient Seeds
Swap in Staff for Longbow.
Swap out SotP for Glyph of Unity
Last utility spot will be for Glyph testing (Signet of the Wild will be there in WvW though)
Pets: Smokescale + Wyvern (either one, will swap in Wolf as needed)
Oh and running warhorn just for that extra blast with the new combo fields from pets.If healing scales terribly though, I will just run a power build with strength or pack runes instead.
Thanks, do you have name/brief description for this build? Also what game mode would you mostly use it in?
Are you hot OP? Wanna grab a coffee sometime and talk about how annoying knee-jerk Ranger nerfs are or something?
Just kidding
I think the best thing you can do is just report like you have been doing. Make sure all your friends report too so it’s more likely that action against that person will be taken. Otherwise try not to take it to heart and remember that there are some sexually deprived people out there so just feel sorry for him.
Updated
Bryzy is just a troll at this point, claiming to speak for every ranger and kittenting up every discussion that isnt’ blind praise for the druid. The best thing to do is ignore him and he will eventually go back to WoW while GW2 fans are left with the mess that they will have to turn PvE into to make Druid a viable spec.
Bryzy has been on ignore by 99% of the competent ppl in ranger forums that try to have meaningful discussion.
He’s a confirmed troll.
Yeah, okay, because you and Levetty are 99% of the people in the Range forums that try to have a meaningful discussion. Instead of sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting as loudly as you can to ignore people who disagree with what you post, might I suggest noise cancelling earphones? That way it frees up your hands to type more BS.
might stacking is no issue here. The issue is upto 24 seconds of quickness. QZ+pet swaps x2 = 12s quickness and WHaO 24s quickness. add 25stacks of might and equal duration of fury and stability with RoA totally throws rangers outta balance in pvp situations. Even with projectile reflects the pet damage is OP as hell and rapid fire burns like lazer with 20ish stacks of vuln.
No no no no.
No viable or sustainable build can get this kind of utilisation. You sacrifice way too much. You’re an all-or-nothing one-trick pony if you do this.
It’s the same as a full zerk, traited signet thief going all-out squishy for max snipe damage. The ability is there to get ridiculously high might/damage, but people don’t because it’s just a stupid move.
I agree.
I particularly like the idea of a blind on Hunter’s Call. It fits the theme well. I still think the damage needs to be increased. There are many things they can potentially do with Hunter’s Call… boon-to-condition inversion, apply other conditions like bleeding & cripple, flat-out damage increase, remove the line-of-site requirement (this should be baseline anyway as it doesn’t make sense that just because you don’t have a line-of-sight on your target doesn’t mean your birds don’t).
I would like to see shortbow range increased to 1000 or 1100.
If Anet refuse to allow us to move with it, I would at least like to see Whirling Defense add a knockback feature for the duration of the skill – i.e. any enemy that comes within its radius is knocked back – similar to that Guardian hammer skill.

ohhh. LOL they nerfed it already? hahahahahahahahah I knew that wouldn’t last long.
Where’s the patch note? I’m seeing people saying it’s been nerfed but why haven’t they made an announcement? Where’s the Dev communication?
This is completely ridiculous and proves every Ranger critic right.
I can’t find anything – what change have they made?
In wiki & in game
Thanks, can’t play as I’m at work but just seen the game release notes addition.
Ridiculous. No communication from Roy other than “We’re nerfing it without consultation”. He always seemed a much more reasonable Dev
lol at what time has Roy every impressed you with anything? He’s always been one of the worst together with Jon Peters.
I liked what he did with the Rev. Uhhh… I’ll admit that’s probably about it.
Quite ironic actually, seeing as the Rev has incredibly good similar boon uptime.
-puts tin foil hat on-
So this is why Roy in particular was so keen to nerf WHaO – “It’s a threat to my beautiful Revenant boon stacking abilities – only Revs get this!”
Quick idea for a change to “Search and Rescue”. Just very off-the-cuff thinking so take it or leave it as your whim but -
- Could be renamed “Save or Slay” or “Heal or Hunt” or “Cure or Consume” or “Revive or Devour”
- Premise would be to change it to a targeted skill that would call the pet to either revive a downed ally very rapidly or finish a downed play very rapidly
- Pet would gain quickness, stability and increased movement speed.
- If reviving: pet gains protection
- If finishing: pet gains fury and/or might

Before making a decision the Devs need to consider some key points:
EDIT: Are you serious? You nerfed it already? Please read this post so you can see why that was a completely unjustified move.
1. It’s been just two days since the change to the skill. This is not enough time for it to be tested to its fullest extent and integrate with every game mode. Additionally, it is not enough time for all other professions to become familiar with Rangers’ improved ability to stack boons. As such, other professions have not had enough time to determine any true potential ‘threat-change’ when fighting this new ability.
A personal note I would add here is that I have spent approximately ~8 hours in hotjoin PvP (I know – lol @ hotjoin) testing and tweaking my condi bunker Ranger build to make better use of the new WHaO functionality. Whilst this is not enough time to make any clear conclusions, I noticed only marginal improvement to my gameplay experience versus other players, and lost fights perhaps only slightly less frequently than I normally would – particularly during group skirmishes. I was also not once questioned about my new abilities, nor did anyone QQ about them. Though of course being PvP everyone is QQing about something or other.
2. Rangers have to sacrifice too much build functionality to truly incorporate the kind of “OP” boon stacking some are discussing. Other people go into more detail on this point. I have spent a couple of hours running around with the zerg in WvW testing the full zerker longbow build. While it is incredibly easy to build might stacks with things like traited SotW, Jungle Stalker, Warhorn, and SotP, it’s all just far too niche to be a viable build. You are cornered into taking very specific weapons, traits, utilities and physical positioning to make this work to its fullest extent. And even when you do all of that you will find your projectiles reflected back at you because of the ridiculous amount of reflects there are in the game now.
3. This ‘knee-jerk nerf’ reaction to Rangers on part of the Devs (I’ll add that this is by no means is this a dig at the Devs) has become common practice for our profession in particular. The main reason behind this is that Rangers have always been the least-viable, bottom-tier profession that many are used to beating because of the higher level of skill it takes to be a top-tier Ranger versus the relatively low skill ceiling of other professions. As such, skill buffs of the magnitude of the WHaO change are a ‘shock to the system’ for Rangers. Nobody is used to seeing Rangers getting a buff to this extent so everyone instantly assumes it’s ‘OP’. However this is the first time we have ever had the ability to accumulate boons on a similar level to other professions; even with that being the case, however, other professions still have better inter-skill-weapon- and-trait functionality to allow them to accumulate these boons without sacrificing so much in their build. It is buffs like these that bring Rangers to the same level as other Professions. Exactly the same response happened when Rapid Fire was buffed: knee-jerk calls for a nerf before anybody could be bothered to learn its counterplay. The change was given enough time however, and people soon realised that “actually… hey this isn’t as bad as we thought – maybe Rangers did need the buff!” You’re still seen as a total noob if you die to a Ranger’s RF.
4. If you do make any changes to this WHaO buff, you must ensure Ranger weapons (the shortbow and Greatsword in particular, along with Warhorn skill 4 and basically all axe skills other than OH axe 4), utilities and traits are re-aligned (read: buffed) to be more viable and more in-line with the strengths of other professions.
