These are just some random complaints that you picked to answer, but they are not “Key” complaints. Maybe you can answer what’s the synergy between the staff and the other weapons or between the staff and the glyphs or how about a druid without glyphs, does it not kinda gimmick the spec when you cannot use the second form of the glyphs?
What you listed are examples of valid complaints. You are right though, I need to adjust it from “key” to “most common”.
Also the ‘zerker cancer-meta’ is more thought out indepth and uses more of the games mechanics then stnd in the corner and spam heals.
Oh, so stand in the corner and spam damage?
Sure if you don’t know how pve works go do that.
Whether you like it or not, Anet are making a conscious effort to move away from the zerker meta in future updates. They have recognised a flaw in gameplay and so too have most others. Guess you’ll have to deal with it.
Did you even read my post? I said the Zerker meta was more thought out and complex then this 1 note joke of a spec, I didn’t say ‘OMG PLS DON’T TAKE ZERK META AWAY’
Just like the zerk meta teams don’t actually bring the max dps spec of each class and instead sacrifices some dps for them to bring support to buff the dps of other classes, raid groups won’t bring a druid because it does nothing but heal. They will bring a chronomancer who can spam their well heal well while providing alacrity and quickness, they will bring a quardian who can throw out damage mitagating and condi cleanse while throwing out some passive heals, they will bring an ele who can take a break from massive boon generation and high dps to drop a water feild then start blasting it like crazy, they will bring a rev who can jump into ventari to heal then jump back to another legend to fill a different role, they will bring an engie who can do simalar with their kits. Hell if a Necro finds its way in somehow they can bring their life siphon aura just to add some extra few ticks and all this would add up.
All of that won’t be much good if they’re all dead because the new content is too hard-hitting though, will it?
We’ll see. I’m not claiming to know outright that heavy-healing will definitely be needed in the new content – we can only say that because of what the Devs have been telling us.
I think it’s about time healing was finally given a better platform and buffed. If you are right about PvE – and it turns out we don’t need dedicated Druid healers – that’s fine, but you can’t deny that WvW and PvP will benefit heavily from it.
This is the feedback thread:
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/professions/ranger/Druid-Healer-Confirmed-Feedback-merged
I sincerely hope that will get abandoned. We need structure, not a random-info-dump-abyss.
I envisioned some more nature themed utility skills with leaves and lightning or something more with the elements than we got.
However, my biggest disappointment is that the traits do nothing for/to the pet. I was really hoping for something to also do with the pet. Thus I don’t think I’ll even bother with druid since the traits don’t synergize with how I play. I honestly love my longbow too much to give it up for using staff most of the time.
Oh man I wish people would read. The Druid is not the Ranger. The Ranger’s mechanic is the pet. The Druid’s mechanic is the Astral Avatar. The Druid has no obligation to the pet. I’m not saying the pet doesn’t need fixing for the Ranger – because it really does, but it’s not a concern for the design of the Druid.
Finally, valid constructive criticism without rushing to conclusions and throwing toys out of the pram. +1 OP
Also the ‘zerker cancer-meta’ is more thought out indepth and uses more of the games mechanics then stnd in the corner and spam heals.
Oh, so stand in the corner and spam damage?

Oh, so stand in the corner and spam damage?
Just to address a few of the most common complaints that prove many of you don’t listen and are willing to just jump straight into assumptions and throw your toys out of the pram like children before listening to the facts.
1. “Waahh, Druid is pure healing but provides no other buffs to help the zerka meta!! We’re still not going to be wanted! It’s creating a healing meta!”
Irenio and Rubi specifically discussed at the end of the Druid reveal that HoT will be moving the game away from the zerker cancer-meta starting via its PvE and Raids content design. Full zerker parties as they are today will not survive in the new content without some kind of, at least semi-dedicated, heal/support profession. This is the role that a staff Druid will fill if they choose. Therefore, set-ups that just serve to buff the current zerker meta will be redundant.
As for the “healing meta” complaint… well that’s just mis-education pure and simple. Just because healing elements may be required in new group content, it does not mean that everyone is suddenly going to be a healer. We will still need 90% DPS-focussed team members to actually get us through the content, but they will now need that new, higher level of support the Druid can offer. You can’t have a party full of healing Druids in group content because nothing will get finished!
On an additional note, Irenio mentioned throughout the Druid reveal that many of the skills are still under review and might be beefed-out with additional capabilities, or have their current abilities diversified.
2. “Waahh, Druid does nothing to buff our core mechanic, the pet!”
Simply put, the pet is not the core mechanic of the Druid. Astral Avatar form is. The Druid design is at no obligation to improve the pet mechanic, though they have added some amazing new pets in the process with some interesting new capabilities. The pet improvement concern is to be discussed for Rangers.
3. “Waahh, I don’t want to be a healer!”
Then don’t. Taking the Druid traitline does not force you into being a dedicated healer. Read people’s new build and theory-crafting threads – the Druid traitline opens up entirely new sustain and dynamic potential for existing builds, and also creates niches for new builds that improve upon existing ones – the trapper for example. You also do not have to wield a staff to be a Druid.
4. “Waahh it’s not nature-themed!”
It couldn’t be more nature-themed. Celestial (i.e. of planetary bodies – of which the Earth itself is one remember), heavens, spirits, influence on nature of the earth – it’s all interlinked thematically. It brings a brilliant, unique flavour to a nature-themed profession and it looks good too.
One valid complaint:
“What about event credit?”
This is something that will need looking into. As it stands, the loot from events is poorly distributed even without dedicated healers running around the place. Everyone is too focussed on tagging enough enemies, particularly champs, to get as much of the loot as possible. It entirely detracts from the fun of the game. The loot should all be collated in one large chest in one area at the end of each event. That way the event can be spread over larger areas and a huge zerg won’t have to run around tagging everything together. People might actually form tactics…

How many more times will I have to say this?
The pet is not the profession mechanic of the DRUID
I disagree completely OP.
As the other posters have said, resistance isn’t needed.
As predicted, the other professions are already shouting “OP!” so adding resistance would be the cherry on the cake I think.
I think if they added multiple resistance capabilities too, group PvE content with a Druid would be like getting a piggy-back on a 10-foot tall, 400kg rugby player while he plows through the crowd while you shoot at stuff from his back.
I think it’s only fair that other professions are left some decent support capabilities like resistance to excel at too. No doubt the next round of Especs will see another profession take on the role of heavy-support in a similar manner too.
I was skeptical at first ‘cos I’d never seen him interact with the Ranger forum. But perhaps he was just the Dark Knight, watching….waiting in the shadows for his chance to make the Ranger a desired profession ;__;
So hyped to play this and test out the healing capabilities in big group content.
This is more meant to be a place to collate that feedback into something constructive, though.
Thanks for not being a clown and just immediately posting when I had the title “Please don’t post here yet” Luckily I got the reserved posts in a few seconds before you did.
The other thread has 500+ posts. Why do you think you’re the special snowflake that doesn’t get merged into it? You’re welcome.
note: “I don’t like that thread” is not a valid reason to make a dupe. They merge everything into superthreads for a reason.
Because “superthreads” have no structure.
We want all our feedback to be delivered to the Devs as efficiently as possible. That will not happen if threads like this keeping getting merge-dumped into the abyss of the superthreads.
Anet does it yet again, releases yet another pile of garbage specialization that can only be described as stupidly random. Honestly, whoever is designing all these needs to be fired.
Basically everyone else disagrees with you there.
How on earth does anything this specialization can do connect to our current ranger?
This is the DRUID not the Ranger. The two are different professions.
It does ABSOLUTELY nothing for our pet…OUR MAIN PROFESSION MECHANIC,
This is the DRUID not the Ranger. The pet is NOT the profession mechanic of the Druid.
we turn into some freaking stupid shadow transformation, we’re given a bunch of utility skills that pretty much do nothing but turn us into some terribad elementalist, we’re given staff a weapon that does nothing but heal which has always been absolutely worthless in the game and nothing is going to change that. And on top of it, what the hell are with these HORRIBLE animations….uhg honestly, could you made a more horrible specilization? Guess we’ll see in the next expansion…
I was disappointed with pretty much every specialization you’ve release, yet I only really play ranger, and after today…yet another disappointment.
Been a major fan since Guild Wars 1, but ever since these expansion reveals, you’ve done nothing but disappoint.I’ve completely lost faith in you guy.
Again, basically everyone else disagrees with you.

I think the celestial theme (i.e. defined as being to do with planetary bodies – the ‘macro natural world’ if you will) is a nice, unique flavour for the Druid.
Spirits, heavens, nature, astral bodies – they’re all linked. It’s just that the average Joe Bloggs thinks of nature as “plants and sheit”. Irenio has taken it one step beyond – more majestic than the [literally] down-to-earth stereotypical nature/plants association.
I agree that there could perhaps have been more balance between the down-to-earth (i.e. plants and sheit) style and the astral nature style – but I’m not complaining. To me personally I’m not going to get picky on that level and it looks fantastic as it is.
I hope this does not get merged with the other thread. This one actually begins with structure. The other does not.
MODS PLEASE DO NOT MERGE THIS INTO THE OTHER THREAD – if you have to merge please latch the other thread onto this.
Major Adept Druid trait:
Cultivated Synergy:
Using a healing skill also heals allies around you and your pet
That’s actually irrelevant, healing your pet isn’t the same as the pet providing support.
What?
It’s ENTIRELY relevant to your thread title. Read it again.
Whenever you use your healing skill, it will heal allies in an area around your pet, as well as healing allies in an area around yourself.
In my opinion, which may or may not be dirt to you, pets (at least with the Druid) will not need support-heavy focus. This is mostly due to their poor AI and the fact that the Druid itself has been given a lot of support mostly in the form of condi cleanse and healing.
In the mean time, you’re not completely without. Take those 2 traits I mentioned, pop your personal heal, pop your fern hound’s F2 then -bam- two AoE ally heals from your pet and some regen for good measure, providing your pet’s in the right place of course :P
Fair enough, like I said, I don’t play ranger (have a level 80 just play it a bit in wvw) but if you read the wording of your post “Using a healing skill also heals allies around you and your pet” could be interpreted as it heals allies around the player but also heals the pet as oppose to heals around the pet, so I stand corrected.
I do understand where you’re going with pet AI but I still think it would have been nice to have the option of a full support pet. Like I said, the fern hound f2 can be decent when paired with that GM trait but it would have been nice to have had some of the new pets supplement the druid role. You said it yourself, druids excel in healing and condi cleanse but they fail in virtually all other aspects of support e.g. boons, damage mitigation etc
Right now, when you look at meta’s, they’re based around maximising the role e.g. dps so even the ranger meta takes pets to emphasise that. If druids are about support, it would have been nice to have a pet which could provide resistance or aegis etc. Things that complement the Druid. Also, having just the one pet that has the heal ability, a pet which has pretty low dps, could’ve been looked at with the new pets. Those are just my thoughts and just for the record, I don’t think your opinion is worthless, lol, and apologise if I offended you in any way.
I agree, metas are about maximising the role of DPS. But this is current meta gameplay- irenio mentioned to rubi at the end of the druid stream that they are completely changing the PvE and Raids environments to make support healing a lot more necessary and therefore desirable, which is why I think they chose to focus Druid so heavily on basic healing and condi cleanse over buffs and boon support. We’ll see if that pans out or not on release I guess, but that at least seems to be the reasoning behind it. Also, no apology necessary it takes a lot more than that to offend me LOL – you have the right to reject my opinion, as that’s all it is. I also live by the Ricky Gervais quote: “You have the right to be offended; I have the right not to care”.
Ice Bow 4 nerf 50%!! Holy hell and then the MIC DROP!
I laughed hard IRL when Irenio announced that in the DEAL-WITH-IT manner that he did. Brilliant.
It’s brilliant. I’ll basically just stay in my current Settler’s gear and possibly switch out to my Clerics (which I was on the verge of salvaging the other day – glad I didn’t) to experiment with M4x1mum H34Lz
Good changes but hope there’s more. Ranger needs a lot more work than that.
But hell I don’t even care now that I’ve seen Druid.
Hype is so real.
Let’s put this into context:
Irenio – not only have you created a desirable role in a limited amount of time, but you’ve done so while creating an awesome new mechanic, attractive gameplay, useful (and incredibly cool) pets, arguably the best new traitline of all elite specs, detracted minimal value from other professions, created new build opportunities for non-staff/non-support Druids, single handedly (aside the raid designers of course) created a medium used to bypass the zerker cancer meta, and finally and most importantly listened and recognised base Ranger concerns.
Regardless of whether a healer/support role was what you were looking for, you can’t deny the positives that have come from this. Fantastic news for Rangers and Druids alike. We are the most deserving profession of a change like this. Huge pat on the back to this guy.
I have to disagree, sorry, particularly with the bolded listened and recognised. I don’t see anything of the ranger requests made overthe last 3 years. I see nothing of exchanging the pet when the environment doesn’t suit pet mechancs. Worse than that tho, if the HoT environment is as Irenio describes, with dodges needed but not being enough, healing and positioning being needed then Pets are in an even worse position in HoT than ever before since they can do none of these things. Nothing has been done to address the fundamental flaws of the pet in tactical, active defence based combat.
What the players have been requesting is more team utility, this is true. But we’ve also been requesting that something change in our et mechanics so that they’re not always dead in advanced play and that they don’t trip mechanics which make encounters harder. Nobody has ever asked to have Death Shroud crudely duct-taped on top of our already full F bar, while our pets get AoE to death faster than ever before because we have no reasonable tactical control over them
Irenio has dropped the ball again. Dropped the ball just as he did by inflicting Most Dangerous Game, the failed version of the useless old necro trait Siphoned Power on rangers. As he did with the total hobbling of spirits. Just like he did with the total ruination of Engineer gadgets and turrets and the awful, awful Gadgeteer trait or the woefully pointless Medical Dispersion Field.
I’m not saying that Druid is bad, just that it’s a poor job of what it could have been.
It doesn’t help that aesthetically it’s about as far away from druids as you can conceivably get or that the plant skills we were promised are basically two slots and a couple of traits.
I can’t help but think that Celestial is what Elementalists were supposed to have gotten and some how it got into some horrific accident and ended up spliced hideously onto druid’s backside.
Irenio specifically mentioned at the end of the Druid stream that he’s been lurking the Ranger forums in his own time reading and making notes about all our problems, and will be addressing these in the balance review. He probably hadn’t done this before decimating some of the current Ranger traits as you mention.
I concede that nothing is confirmed till it’s confirmed, but it seems to me like it’s spelling good news, particularly after what we’ve seen him do with the Druid.

Druids heavily reminded me of FFXIV’s Scholar.
They are healers with pets, and this create a very interesting dynamic: FFXIV is a game with a hard trinity, but Scholars can still contribute to the party DPS thanks to their pets. But it’s a reversed to what we’ll have here, because the pets are the ones doing the healing while the Scholar is the one doing the damage.
It would be interesting to have a Healer pet here too, maybe.
I get the feeling a lot of us will be experimenting with pet damage output (particularly the new pets) in the beastmastery line (which hopefully will be seeing some improvements in the upcoming balance reveal) while we trait personally into the Druid healing category.
i.e. Stand back and heal from Range while your pet tanks/DPSes
just because other classes can spec to fill a role that one does doesn’t make your class less useful. its all about team work.
It makes the class less useful when the other class does it significantly better.
Welcome to the world Rangers have been living in for the last 3 years. Enjoy your stay
Major Adept Druid trait:
Cultivated Synergy:
Using a healing skill also heals allies around you and your pet
Major Grandmaster Nature Magic Trait:
Invigorating bond:
Your pet heals allies in an area when executing an F2 ability
Combine these with the Regen F2 of the Fern Hound and what more do you want?
I’ve seen a lot of QQers on the latest threads suggesting that healing will be redundant once people in the zerker meta train themselves to become more self-aware and tactical with their heals.
That would possibly true if the new PvE and Raids environments allowed it, which they won’t.
If you’d listened to the stream properly, you’d have heard them discuss how Raids and the newly developed PvE environment will be too challenging for a zerk or damage-focussed meta to survive in with current tactics. We are likely going to NEED Druids pumping out heals and condi-cleanse.
And if we don’t? Then by all means don’t be a dedicated healer. You’ve now been given a traitline that opens up a whole lot of diversity – particularly in sustain but also in CC -to create new, or latch onto existing, builds.
Naturally we’ll have to play the thing before we can make our final assertions, but as of tonight I think Rangers have been done a good service.
Let’s put this into context:

#PostingFromMyNana’sBirthdayParty
Any news yet guys!?!?!?!
Just popped over to the Engi forum and saw
Hey all,
Since the Scrapper reveal I’ve been up to my eyeballs in Druid development.
In my off-work hours I’ve been watching the forums and wanted to reply to some of your concerns and discuss some design intent.
On the plus side – it’s forum engagement, so kudos to Irenio for that (hope we get the same!)
On the negative side – it suggests Druid is still in a state of rushed development.
Though that negative side may actually prove useful to us; considering Druid will undoubtedly be straight-out-of-the-oven soft by the time we come to BWE test it, perhaps the Anet team will be more receptive than ever to feedback and improvement suggestions?
Dat Nihilism ^
Sad, but true ;__;
I’m hoping for something similar, like the “aspect of the pet” proposal that Allie Murdock was leading the CDI for ages ago. Basically a concept surrounding you stowing your pet and you receiving a passive buff/boon while that pet is stowed. Just not sure how well it will work seeing as that on its own would suck, and the fact that Anet will almost certainly not be granting us perma-stow.
I’m already losing my mind waiting for the dam twitch con!
5 hours 40 minutes to go (not that I’ll get to see it cuz celebrating nana’s max level party IRL – she also maxed out cooking so there’s gonna be food buffs galore). So I’m relying on you guys to give a play-by-play on here lmao.
God this is like one sad step down from watching someone else play a game on twitch – reading about people’s reactions while they watch people play a game.
What am I doing with my life?
Druid is a name only.
berserker is very common.
reaper(dark knight) is very common.
chronomancer is a thing in japanese RPG.
what do you propose then?
I do not have an issue with the name but just for fun,
Nature Guardian
Beast Master
Forest Whisperer
Staff wielding hippy
Forest or nature Spirit
A Forest/Nature Fury
Tree Spirit
Leaf Thrower
Rotten Tree protector
The Pale Tree Warrior
Forest Knight
Slow moving Tree Stump Caster
Branch Attacker
Twig Shaker
The Salad Shooter
Lol’d in my pants @ salad shooter
Since I’ll be missing out on the Live thingy tonight, it’s gonna be thuper funny watching your guys’ reactions on here
We want reliable and working pets.
We don’t want them removed. We want them do their job.
This, even if druid had absolutely amazing synergy with everything we had and staff and utilities were amazing, if it removed my pet i wouldn’t touch it.
I don’t want the pet gone, i want it to work. I’ve dealt with horrible AI in the past, AI that makes this pet AI a godsend so i make do with it, but it doesn’t mean i don’t want better.
I’m worried there gonna screw up and druid is just gonna bomb…. what will you do if this happens?
I know this wasn’t asked of me personally… but I think people have a number of options, most popular being:
1. Continue to play current Ranger builds and possibly give up on asking for any fixes to the original Ranger considering the e-specs are now out
2. Re-roll a Revenant, Reaper or Scrapper (lol, “Scrapper”) main
3. Go balls deep with a ton of in-depth feedback and change requests on the forums and sit tight for a while hoping for changes
4. Quit
Yeah true, I’m just too anxious to wait an extra day to watch it (assuming it’s a 24h turn-over for them getting stuff uploaded)
Just found out my Nan’s 80th Birthday celebration meal starts at exactly the same time as the TwitchCon thing at 6pm BST tomorrow.
No live Druid hype/crippling disappointment for me…
Anyone fancy recording the Druid bit and popping it on youtube for me? <3 <3 xoxoxox <3 <3
God kitten it
Yeah, basically what Tragic and Chrispy said.
If Druid was broken then you’d be sacrificing a whole traitline for the sake of the removal of the pet. Then, for what little the terrible pathing and lackluster F2s are worth, you’d be missing a portion of damage/cc at no benefit other than not having a pet to attract aggro.
1. Steroids small wiener
2. Beta male friendzoned
3. Daddy’s special boy
4. Shut up, Meg
5. Dodge or rekt
6. Thief tears mmmm
7. Omg we’re wanted
8. No complaining rights
9. Got off lightly
What are you talking about? If you watch Points Of Interest you know that thousands of people tune in just to see these elite specs.
This is TWITCH CON.
Have you seen the list of items anet is set to reveal? There are more interesting things than druid on that list….
Doubt it – the first priority amongst all the other profession players is to ensure the Druid is not better than their Especs. They’re anxiously prepping their QQ and training their vocal chords to scream “NEEEERRFFF” just in case there’s a hint that Druid might actually be pretty powerful. First priority for everyone else is to ensure Druid is not OP. The other content comes second.
…Like all other elite specs got – detailing traits, skills etc? Or will we be made to wait one day longer till Friday?
I thought everyone was already aware of this since the engi POI?
So let’s say…
1. Druid is revealed Friday (eeee, only 2 more sleeps till judgement day! No pressure Irenio)
2. It looks like poo
3. BWE3 confirms it’s poo
4. We give mucho feedback to the Devs
5. Changes are made, but they’re not good enough
6. Regardless of whether it’s interesting/different gameplay, It’s still poo
Are you going to play it regardless? Re-roll? Quit?
My back-up is to re-roll a glint/shiro Herald as a main. Or just ragequit GW2 altogether and go lift weights instead. Depends how the mood takes me.
Thanks a lot for the info, I guess you get what you pay for as with everything else
Or could anyone recommend a graphics card under £150 that would run GW2 comfortably on high graphics? (If one exists for that price!)
Unfortunately I don’t have the money or time to spend on a top-notch pc.
I have found custom-made gaming ones on ebay that are well within my price bracket thankfully (under £280) and just wondered how well this could run GW2/HoT?
Motherboard : Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2 (HDMI & USB3 Support)
CPU : AMD FM2 A8 6600K APU Quad Core CPU 3.9Ghz (turbo 4.2Ghz) Black Edition
Hard Drive : 1TB Seagate Sata 7200RPM 6Gb/s Hard Drive
Memory : 16GB DDR3 1600mhz Memory
Graphics: ATI 8570D APU Graphics
Would it be able to run it on high graphics with a fairly decent frame rate?
Thanks!
^ top lols
In all seriousness you could be on to something there though. Perhaps the reason Rangers have been so neglected is that Chuck Norris has held a gun to the Devs’ heads whenever balance and communications in general have occurred.
I would like to see a pet dog poo. Except you have to move it around like revs do with ventari’s tablet. It could be an additional wolf skill, where the wolf has a poo and that poo then replaces the wolf with different passive conditions on enemies, most likely “taunt” and “poison”. The passive boon of the poo to allies would probably be called “Love your own brand” and it would give the druid and allies regen and protection.
Oh yeah, and the activated poo skill would be where the Druid picks up the poo and throws it at enemies as a projectile, where it hits them in the face and knocks them back whilst poisoning them. While throwing the poo the Druid would shout “let me in dungeon!!”.
I see
With the Herald’s Facet of Nature giving a 50% boon time increase would this make it a total of 44s + 22s = 66 seconds of stealth? i.e. perma stealth with a Herald present?
PLS ANET PLS don’t make us hold the staff with both hands like revenants and thieves do, it’s soooo unaesthetic!
1-handed staff-holding master race thank you
