What you are purchasing is an unlock of a carrier type. You can select a new default carrier for each character from the ones you have unlocked.
This carrier selected applies to all mail you send including trading post mail and also applies to any non-player mail you receive (from game, story, or store)
Player sent mail always uses the sending player’s selected carrier.
Hopefully someone can answer this – can you still hear it when it’s covered by both traditional sheathed weapons like the shield, as well as more specialized things like engineer weapon kits?
Yes he works when covered by shields or engineer kits. He also works on clones (to keep the enemy guessing) and works while transformed.
His dialogue is hilarious, and I’m awfully tempted to buy one, but I have the feeling his non-stop chattering might get on my nerves after a while.
Clicking ‘hide backpack’ in the equipment panel shuts him up without having to change out packs. -(Edit: My bad, the hide backpack flag is supposed to quiet him but doesn’t yet. That’s an update coming in a future patch)
Do the buffs from the Gobbler stack in effect or duration with booster buffs?
If I have a gemstore armor buff, will the gobbler either add to it in effect or make it last longer before expiring? What about magic find? If I get magic find from a bonfire, will this make the MF las longer or increase my total MF?
If you get the same buff from the gobbler it extends the duration of existing buffs making them last longer.
Just a quick update for our SSOM owners.. We’ll be improving the per use cost of the Silver-fed Salvage-O-Matic in one of the upcoming releases. Stay tuned.
I hope by “improving” you mean “decreasing”
:P
1 Candy Corn per use.
Of course not. It’s a Silver fed Salvage-o-matic… it’ll be one silver doubloon per use.

We’re looking into returning the Charr’s missing tail in an upcoming patch. (probably after halloween) – appologies for putting you off balance meantime.
Quick question that’s mostly related to the title:
I found my old gw2 hat (the promo town clothes from launch) is it still usable with this system? I double clicked it and have no idea where it went…
Dasenthal, Speak to a Black Lion Trader with the armor marker over his head at any major Trading Post location. Ask him about town clothes – He will convert your old town clothes to either an armor skin or a costume tonic.
Not sure who it is that places these nodes that we can buy, but again, it’s just a quick dump somewhere, with seemingly no care for how it looks. They even float.. so it’s not enough that they are growing out from slabs of stone, they float above them too. How about putting a tiny bit of effort into the things we are giving you real money for, designers/devs/whoever it was that did these placements? Come on, shape up a bit, this looks like a quick sloppy job with little to no effort placed behind it.
Whups.. That’s not even where those are supposed to be. These will be fixed in the next update.
There’s a bug where the default is to put in a low buy order instead of buying one of the currently available ones. We’re working on that (and this is why).
Your pending purchases are listed in ‘my transactions’.. you’re not waiting for a specific seller.. You’re waiting for any seller who likes your price. Instant purchases are a higher cost.
If you want your item immediately you can cancel your order from the ‘My Transactions’ page. Collect your funds again. and return to the buy page. This time click on one of the current sellers before hitting buy. (sorry for the temporary extra step)
Just popping in here to say we are continuing to pay attention and reading as much feedback as time allows. This thread in particular lists several pros / cons with good comparison to old and usage examples.
The primary pain as Ensign mentioned is the power users. Partially because power users are the most ingrained with how / where information was given before and what the most efficient sequence of clicks was. That will partially fix itself as there are many new conveniences to get used to and some non-obvious shortcuts that power users will figure out over time just as you did with OTP.
For example – many people list the new ‘sell confirmation’ as annoying and too much extra clicking. OTP had the same thing but for power users, there is no need to wait for the confirmation. You can click off the order dialog just as you did in old TP as soon as you hit sell..
Partially the power users pain comes from exceeding some of the display limits added to make everything more responsive. While responsiveness is hugely important for general usage we are aware some players have ‘hidden’ orders they can’t manage.. and that’s not good.
There are some bugs with new TP that will get fixed and we’ll definitely be discussing other changes brought up. So please continue to give constructive feedback especially valuable when you explain how you would use something instead of how to fix it. (eg: I wish I knew if i’m undercutting myself, vs match my lowest needs to be a button.)
I know it’ll be answered when we get it next week but do we still have the same ability as we do now on the sell screen to choose match low sale price rather than high bid price. The “Sell Instantly” button concerns me because I assume this matches the high bid price and the screen shot doesn’t have any items being sold so I don’t see the mechanism for quick switching other than typing it in.
The reason it bothers me because encouraging to sell to highest bidder leaves money on the table that a player could earn. One of the major complaints that players voice is the lack of money in game yet the way the TP defaults, players may unknowingly be throwing money that they could earn away. And if you are making it more difficult to match the low seller price, this gap could widen even further. That’s good news for player merchants (aka flippers) but I don’t like the notion that less savvy players may be stuck with an Idiot Tax or Not Paying Attention Tax.
Sell on new tp defaults to matching lowest seller so we’re actually reducing this risk and encouraging a more true supply competition.
Instant vs Order is entirely price controlled and the warning message / submit button text changes intelligently depending which listing you match or where your proposed price falls inbetween existing listings.
Curtis overall I think the new TP UI will be fantastic. (Actually a little too fantastic: I’d be ok if less people understood how the TP works, that’s less competition on the market heh heh).
That said, I have two questions: 1. The blog post says, “The most obvious change to selling on the new Trading Post is that no longer are your items sorted by their name. Items are now shown in the same order they appear in your inventory.”
That kinda worries me because you can also sort your items to sell “by price” at the moment. I find that VERY convenient for grouping all the most valuable items in my inventory right at the beginning of the list. I would be really, really sad if the ability to sort by price has been removed along with “by name”.
You can sort the sell list by the column headers so Qty, Name, Price and Level are all possible sorts for selling. Just the default is bag order.
2. Second question: any chance we are getting a “BACK BUTTON” in the new ui? That would make things sooooooooooo much easier to navigate…
No… but by redesigning how everything connects I believe we’ve removed almost all possible needs for a back button. Sooooo much easier to navigate = yes.
Oh, I have a question:
Suppose the current lowest sell price of an item ia 6g 00s 00c.
In that case, can you use the down button on the copper to reduce the price by one copper (making it 5g 99s 99c), or you have to change all 3 fields?
Yes that will work…. you can also mouse-wheel instead of clicking.
Not specifically what anyone asked for.. but for those wondering about efficiency of clicks.. or just general examples. Check out the points of interest broadcast from today for a real-time demo of the new trading post. http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/c/5069490
Short answer – Each mini can only unlock itself in the wardrobe.
Minis being thrown in the forge does not unlock them. Unlike weapons and armor when you unlock a mini you get the whole mini functionality forever.. not just a skin unlock.
So in your example.. Creating Foostivoo does not automatically unlock the other 3.
Unlocking Foostivoo also does not unlock the 3 that made him.
This should mean relative demand for minis stays consistent with the current mini system where having foostivoo doesn’t give you 4 possible summons.
I’m not thrilled with all the huge icons as it’s taking up valuable real estate for actual items. Having each page reduced from 10 to 7 seems wasteful.
There are no longer pages, it’s a smooth scroll … which is much faster for browsing beyond page 1. You really don’t much notice the # displayed per page when using it.
As someone who spends a lot of time using the TP what irks me the most atm is when looking at the times I’m buying , if i click on an individual item to see the other buy orders, there is no way back to return to my list of buy orders other than clicking any other tab in tp then -> transaction tab ->buying , by then I have forgotten what I was going to look at.
Why can’t we see the buy price in the search results screen?
We show sell prices because that is what the item is actually available for. We biased towards simple to understand to go to the next step. The search is meant to be item focused and not margin driven. When looking at an individual item you get the bigger picture market data.
Also, this wasn’t covered in the article but please please please tell me the default buy price is not the vendor price any more. …snip…. Fingers crossed for an easy way to issue buy orders without typing the full price every single time – ie, defaulting to the highest current buy order or even better, highest+1c.
That’s probably too much to ask
Default buy price is the lowest currently available seller. If none available, then highest current buy order. You can match any current buyer by clicking their order price. No typing required.
Now if we can add a favorite items list for our regular purchases, then the TP would be much more functional.
You might notice on the trading post home screenshot a section called ‘recently viewed’. This in combination with the reworked my transactions list should make regular item repeats much much more accessible.
Just being able to filter based on items usable by the current character is a huge improvement. Thank you!
I don’t see why removing the ‘under vendor price’ items would cause any risk to the market – simply kick them back to the person who put in the order!
If simply kicking them back was something simply done I’d agree. The sheer quantity of orders to process posses some risk.. and one wrong bit of processing might require a TP roll-back.. which would be … scary.
Here’s another question that’s always bugged me… will we be able to specifically filter for back items now? (an item for which there was never any kind of filter to begin with)
Yes, back items and accessories are both select-able sub-categories of armor now.
Now I need a calculator to actually see how much money I will get in my hand when selling items?
This specific feature doesn’t sound like an update, more like a downdate. Other things with the Trading Post update are actually updates
You always had to calculate it. Before this update the 10% tax that is taken when the item actually sell wasn’t showing. It just displayed the listing fee which is 5%
Now it show both but doesn’t do the total.
Haishao almost has it right.
Old Trading Post (OTP) ‘projected profit’ didn’t include the listing fee either.
If i list something for 1 gold.. OTP showed me a partial total including only one of the fees called ‘projected profit’ 90 silver and still separated the Listing fee 5 silver.. The Net Total would still be 85 which wasn’t shown.
New Trading Post (NTP) we now show you a total (qty times price) and both fees separated out.
I totally understand the desire for a true net display. It is something we did discuss and will continue to talk about as an addition I’m sure.
Thanks for clarifications.
I hope we’ll see the “Sell maximum” button if there’s more than 1 of the item, right? Because the button is absent in the screenshot.
For quantities > 1 “Sell Maximum” has been replaced with a quantity slider so with one click you can set to maximum, or half, or anywhere in between. You’ll also have the same one-click ability in buying which didn’t previously exist.
A bit hard to explain in text..sorry we didn’t get a screenshot of that.
Also, neat extra note.. when selling or buying to a waiting player (instant sell/buy) clicking the existing listing toggles between qty 1 and qty max.
1 – When I search for dyes, can I filter out the ones already unlocked on my account?
No, you’ll still have to mouse-over the list to see each one locked or unlocked.
Same for skins which someone asked about. And minis which is a logical question too.
Locked / Unlocked on my account is not a currently supported filter.
2 – Have you removed all the buy orders below vendor price?
Not at this time. In fact the visibility is actually going to make this worse for a little bit. It’s something we are looking into but it’s easier said than done without risk to the market.
Thanks for the clarifications Curtis, would it be possible to clarify the missing “Projected profit” UI element, it seems to be missing for no real reason other than to now arbitrarily calculate yourself how much money you make per sale instead of being able to see it directly on the screen.
We felt it was important when selling something to know exactly what price your buyer was going to see. The change also is the least cluttered way to address feedback we received previously about profit including / not including fees and wanting to be as clear as possible on the order of operations.
We’re balancing a lot of UX design against desire for more information with the new UI.. We’ll be watching to see what sort of confusion comes out of this and may or may not re-introduce a net profit display later.
‘Delivery Box’ available anywhere means anywhere in the Trading UI. Not Anywhere in the world (unless you’re using a Trading Post Express summon). If you are at a Black Lion Trader NPC you can now pick up purchases without leaving the filtered buy screen. You can pick up items/funds you cancel without leaving the transactions screen. That sort of thing. You can see an order complete and know what item was delivered while you’re still browsing other categories.
‘Get More Gold’ button simply connects to the existing Currency Exchange. It’s not a new feature, just a more connected UI.
250 is still the max stack size used for a single sale/purchase.
this item should have been a vendor item and sold for 2g each and it would be a very nice goldsink
Now available from Black Lion Trader [Armorsmiths] for 10s each.
The merchant also has tabs to select specific boosts to enchant for the same cost (skipping the powder step)
For those wondering about what boosts are converted when you double-click a powder. It enchants boosts from character inventory in the order listed in the tooltip.
They’re not permanently gone (probably) , but they will be off the vendor for quite a while. Long enough i wouldn’t even hazard a guess at a bring-back date.
Like any store, we’ll be regularly rotating out sets that are out of season or not popular to keep the vendor from overloading too many tabs.
The exchange actually doesn’t deduct more than the minimum it needs to purchase the amount of gems shown. (or if you like, it instantly refunds the difference).
So you can search for the lowest amount if you’re curious. but you’re protected if you’re just in a hurry to get close enough.
edit for clarity:
If 2g = 21 gems
and 2g 10s = 22 gems..
if you put in 2g 9s the exchange will only take 2g to get you the 21 gems and ‘refund’ the 9s back to you.
… Enameled dyes can be bought directly using gems if you go through the exchange.
As of this morning the range is:
Enameled Legacy Dye ~190 gems.
Enameled Crimson Dye ~1100 gems.
No randomness required.
…
But that isn’t what I was proposing in my post or what other players are necessarily asking for. Those are not set prices. They will change and fluctuate. As you’ve shown, some dyes will be cheap and some will be overly priced. Is this really the solution to RNG dye packs? Buy gems, convert to gold and buy what you want from the TP.
I’m not saying it’s a final solution, but it is the current solution.. And the consumer benefit being the direct purchase price is largely driven by the true player value of each color.
It surprises me sometimes that for all the talk of converting gold to gems nobody ever offers the other direction as a solution. Enameled dyes can be bought directly using gems if you go through the exchange.
As of this morning the range is:
Enameled Legacy Dye ~190 gems.
Enameled Crimson Dye ~1100 gems.
No randomness required.
edit: Lol – Raistlan did the thing i said nobody did, beat me to it
If you really don’t want the tonic, check the trading post prices before deleting them.
Quaggan hat, if you have the skin item you should not need a transmute for it . You will see 0 cost for the first apply to a helm. then it will function as a head item for the armor slot with all the same equip and unequip rules as helms.
You get 1 outfit unlock for each peice of the old set.. (just in case folks didn’t keep the whole set). Once the outfit is unlocked on your account the rest of the copies in inventory can be discarded as they don’t have further use.
(except maybe they allow you to quick-equip? I didn’t try that)
Looks like you guys figured it out, but I’ll make it official anyways.
- Splitters aren’t sold any more because, all skins you would get with a splitter will already be unlocked by the wardrobe system automatically.
- The only reason to use a splitter at this point is to get the stats of the current appearance back. (Or as someone mentioned to create an extra item salvage, but i’d suggest you save your splitter and trade it in for charges if you want value)
We are not removing them from inventory automatically. You will trade them in at a black lion trading post after the 15th.
