Suggestions to Improve Base Power Mesmer

Jesus christ is that really deadeye’s elite? That’s so kittening cancerous. Revealed is the one counter to stealth, allowing them to just flat out remove revealed, and then also re-apply stealth in the same skill, is just broken.

The skill designers really need to stop with this constant one-upmanship. Stop introducing mechanics that circumvent balancing mechanics in the game. Removing revealed needs to go. 100% damage reduction from spellbreakers full counter needs to go. Anything else that is designed in a similar manner needs to be thrown out and re-designed

Can you suggest how you would indicate a reduction of condi duration on yourself as an expertise variable?

Not at all, I’d just remove the food tbh.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

You guys can put whatever label or justification you want on it, but chasing down players that don’t want a 1v1 because they aren’t speced for it and u get no reward for it seems like bullying to me. It barely helps out your server and then the rest of the time I see roamers standing around in an open field waiting for people to come along. Seems like they want pvp where they stand little chance of losing.

Roamers are simply seeking unfair matchups and little else.

i thought you said previously that you are a knowledgeable player and yet you are labelling gankers as roamers. the example I gave was a few people built for small scale fighting/roaming standing in the way between spawn and their defended t3 keep. we are not chasing them but in fact they are coming to us (there is more then 1 entrance to bay btw) roamers can actually win keep fights just by starving the zerglings thats going back to the keep because they died in the first place for what ever reason, yet they are also called bullys lol. thats where the enermy server should get their own “bullys” to fight the others.

are 40 person zerg bullys as well for chasing of 3 roamers at a camp/sentry?

I just roam to kitten off other servers. I claim every single camp/tower I can. I want them to know where I am. That is the fun part for me. I may die eventually but that is ok. Waypointing is free and so are repairs. You will know you have done your job right when they bring a big group for one person.

Yes roamers who gang up on zerglings trying to rejoin the main blob are bullies. So is a blob chasing down one roamer, dontcha think?

I dunno, If u like chasing people who clearly don’t want to 1v1 and aren’t geared or speced for it, then maybe? I always feel like roamers can’t handle the minimal amount of fairness that is put into spvp, so they go to wvw instead to have a huge advantage.

How do they have a huge advantage when everyone else has the exact same build options? As for killing people who don’t want to 1v1, I regularly come across people who don’t want to 1v1 but they sure want to 3+v1.

As others have pointed out, wvw is an open world competitive game mode. As soon as you leave spawn, it’s clear that there are two sides who are going to want to kill you, whether by way of a big group, an individual, or everything in between. That’s the game.

After 2k PVP games on thief I switched to roaming in WVW. Roaming (compared to PVP) to me is more fun and relaxing, and offers a open-world environment where I can choose to do what I want (be it flipping camps, contesting key enemy structures, cutting off supply, scouting, etc.)

And of course looking for challenging 1v1 fights. I often target other solo roamers that are running builds that I find challenging to fight against (DH, Condi Mesmer, etc.) After a good fight vs a skilled enemy player, I often invite them into a party and we end up dueling at that same spot for a couple of fights. That is how I improve my own skills.

Do I gank zerg tails running back to a fight, of course – but it’s not about me trying to be a bully (as another poster has suggested about roamers in general), it’s because it benefits my server zerg/commander. Those extra few players that I hamper getting back to their zerg could be running a lot of supply, or even tip the fight in the enemy server’s favor, etc.

Is it rewarding in game monetary terms? – Probably not, but I find it fun and therein lies my reward.

Am I still a bully if I genuinely roam to look for other solo roamers (and because when I come home from work all my guildies/friends are asleep on the other side of the world)? Didn’t know playing a game mode as intended (war zone) where defeating your enemy makes you a bully. I feel terrible, I should probably uninstall the game and end my life.

Condition spam

in PvP

Posted by: babazhook.6805

babazhook.6805

What exactly is Condition spam?

In order for a condition build to work, the player in question has to keep applying conditions. If they can not apply conditions on an ongoing basis than they will be unable to inflict enough damage to prevail in a given matchup. It then becomes a contest of that enemy player trying to remove or avoid those condition applications as they themselves inflict their own damage.

Now in my power build thief I can use mug and steal to an opponent for 2K plus damage. I can cloak and dagger for an additional 4 to 5k damage, then immediately backstab for 6 to 8 k damage. This is followed up by an AA chain to get some 8k more damage.

Why is this not considered “Power spam”? Why is it ok to have multiple attacks that apply damage via power used in a row and it not ok to have the same with conditions being applied?

I do not believe “condition spamming” out of hand. I believe there certain skills in very specific builds that are overtuned. I believe perplexity runes are overtuned. I believe this can all by addressed via tweaks rather than wholesale do over.

I also believe that when words like “cheese” and “spam” tossed around in order to denigrate a build or game style, it more an example of that persons personal bias towards a style of combat than it is one about balance.

Change Breathers Into Skins, Not Gear

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-brand-new-fractals-of-the-mists-legendary-backpacks-ascended-salvaging-and-more/

At the end of every fractal, you’ll find a … fractal encryption …[that might drop] new ascended aquatic-breather recipes.

I’d like ANet to reconsider this idea and replace the idea of breathers as gear with making them a skin-only component.

  • Aquatic Breathers have never been needed to, you know, aquatically breathe (at least, never in the live game).
  • For 3 years, fighting under water has meant reduced stats and has required buying a seventh rune for every armor set.
  • For most of these 3 years, breathers were limited to sub-L80 masterwork, karma items: no rares (never mind exotics) and completely uncraftable or unsalvageable at top levels. Even now, the supply of better-than-green rarity is extremely limited.

Thus, in a meaningful sense, we’ve never really had true underwater headgear; all we’ve had is a placeholder marginally better than no gear at all (and arguably worse than nothing at times).

Accordingly, instead of adding recipes into the game to create the gear, how about if we simplify gearing up by removing this seventh, orphaned child of armor and replacing it with a skin.

  • ANet can sell breather skins on the gem shop.
  • There could still be “ascended” recipes for breathers with special effects.

tl;dr don’t introduce new breathers into the game; simplify the system and replace them with wardrobe-only skins that display while underwater.

I honestly don’t even see the problem with mtg compared to the respected buffs of other classes. Engi condition builds are insane, mesmer mantra got a bigger ninja buff than I could have ever possibly imagined, and on top of that you literally ninja removed confounding combatants. Compared to other builds of players I played with and the burst potential they provided it seemed pretty even, but you didn’t even give it a chance.

Please think about it and revert it, give the community a chance to atleast play test it for longer than 6 hours. Ninja nerfing two condition traits in a matter of hours kinda put a damper on all the new excitement towards condition. Esp when you buff power with the passive minor replacing confusing combatants & the mantra changes is also just depressing to think about in comparison. +1 If you agree

Ps: Duelists disipline is also bugged, the trait doesn’t even work, no bleeds are proc’d from it, please fix

I've redesigned the UI & the official website

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: amax.8034

amax.8034

Hi guys,

I’m a Senior UX UI designer and I’ve been playing GW2 since the betas, with long breaks in-between and since I’ve spent quite a lot of hours with this game, I’ve noticed some flaws in the games UX (user experience) and thus I decided to tackle it in order to diversify my portfolio. This lead me to redesigning some of the in-game UI’s & the official website.

About the project
The project started last summer, as I was redesigning my portfolio website, I wanted to take a break from my regular website design so I started redesigning the GW2 official website, since I missed working on a more creative & artsy website. This last holiday season I had a few days free so I decided to continue this project and tackle the in-game UI’s since I wasn’t really a fan of how some things were currently done.

What I’ve redesigned

  • Looking for Group Panel & the related tabs
  • Character Panel
  • Guild Tab
  • The Story Journal & the related tabs
  • Created a Lore Journal & related tabs

The Entire Design in PDF format – Horizontal layout

The Entire Design in JPG format – Vertical layout

Note
There are a lot of explanations that point out to different things & the reason behind my design decisions. The entire project took roughly 2-3 weeks, so It could be better, but unfortunately I don’t have access to actual game or player data and I kinda ran out of free time.

Hope you enjoy.

UPDATE:
Since some of you wanted to see how this would look in-game, I made a quick in-game prototype:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUHYOEGKtJs

In case some of you are interested in seeing the behind the scenes process like the research, sketches, what I learned and so on, feel free to check out the link from my portfolio.

To point it out.

Mesmers often don’t slot signets because they are so situational and often weak.

If you want my suggestion read my posts

All your brilliant builds can be achieved right now as all of the numbers you list off do not cap out the already available trait points. Where are you putting the extra that’s so game changing?

If your going to fly into a rage at least do your homework and math correctly…

I would also point out that raging and shooting down any other arguments made by anyone else by just blindly stating that you are right because you are right isn’t conducive to further discussion and a huge turn off for further replies and possible better.ideas.

Check your attitude if you aim to be taken seriously and actually add to these type of threads and be willing to look at others options objectively.

That’s the last reply and acknowledgement you’ll be receiving from me tho, the bridge.is burnt.

No offense but you are wrong. Signets are particularly powerful. The primary reason why people dont slot them in because The blurred inscriptions trait competes with DE with the major slot. you have to go 30 into dueling to get them both.

Lets take example signet of Midnight in a signet build.

24 sec cd, cleanses 1 condition, Aoe blind, 1 sec Invulnerable, Stun breaker.

If you wanna test its potential you can duel me. I use a signet interrupt condi build.

^ my point EXACLY. Well at least the part were its hard to get the specific traits without overspending points.

Also swish apparently misunderstood my entire suggestion. Apparently he thought my suggestion was adding another trait point XD.

Read next time swish.
