This looks really cool. Might have to start playing GW2 again. What happens when u over heat? It said you explode but will it damage everything around you. Also can you discharge your built up energy before you explode as a form of damage?
Is this one of those things that will be cool for a week or two then die out? I would be willing to buy a transfer but not if this is just a fad. I have been wanting to main my Mesmer for some time now and would love to learn from seeing a lot of them in battle.
Only if they remove the AoE cap of 5 players. DAoC had no AoE cap and if there were 100 players siegeing a Keep then you could hit 100 players with AoE spells.
Attacking has most of the advantage in this game so siege and fortification is really just a speed bump to give defenders a chance to rally the forces. Unfortunately in most matchups one side simply doesn’t have the numbers to rally so they get papered.
Depends. I’ve seen 60+ man zergs pack up an go home because a 5 man team on well placed sup carts kept them from placing rams or cats.
In every instance of this I have seen it is because there was an easier target to take elsewhere. Had the zerg not been impatient they could likely have setup trebs that could not be countered and brought down the walls the slow way.
Arent there always people trebbing everything? We have people who’s only job is to treb from towers, refresh all the siege, and alert the zerg to incoming. Not hard to find someone with RL stuff to do to watch a tower and treb whila being half AFK or watching a movie.
If you cant defend you are doing it wrong. Siege is stupid OP and is ruining the game especially in t1 where even with three times your numbers cowards will just sit in towers refusing to come out and fight. I guess it must take ridiculous amounts of skill to hide behind a dozen arrow carts. Cant wait till season starts so people actually have to fight.
In case not everyone gets it but a lot of this is a guide to being bad at WvW. WvW is a lot of fun but not when you’re karma training for loot =(
Karma training is also basically PvE. Also bags seem to be totally random. When Im on my guardian in a full melee group there have been fights where we wipe them and I get 15 bags. Then we will fight another group with a similar outcome and I only get 3 bags. I assume Im tagging everything because Im getting EXP messages but very little loot.
If you want to have a chance at the skin, you need to kill Teq daily.
what servers actually do that? Im on a T1 server and still havent killed him.
JQ kills him 2 times a day if you are on a US sever. 1PM and 5PM server time.
You’ll need to arrive 20 minutes early for the 1PM time slot and 90 minutes early for the 5PM slot if you want to get in.
Thanks. Will start showing up. Closest I have ever gotten to a kill was DCing @ 1% and then hearing everyone in guild chat cheering 5 seconds later. Put in a ticket because I was there for 2 hours and wanted my reward but got nothing.
well never tried playing the TP before and everyone in guild chat was making gold so I tried it out. Now im broke. Guess I can go suicide off a cliff somewhere. Unless the price will go back up in a few weeks or months?
If you want gold you after go flip/trade stuff on the trading post or run some dungeons/world bosses/fractals. Then you spend it in WvW…
so basically I have to do stuff I hate and quit after 30 minutes because its so kitten boring? People who enjoy running dungeons, fractals, or champ training are allowed to make gold so why arent people who only like doing WvW?
I only do WvW. I really cant stand champ training for gold. I cant run dungeons or fractals either because everyone just kicks you if its your first time. I have three 80s and dont even have full exotics because I cant afford it. I at least try and do meta events once a day for a chest but it never has anything good. How do people afford food and utility buffs as well as siege plans or the 100g for commander tag? I want to at least get one of my characters a legendary but I have 1 gold 37 silver. I will not PvE for my gold because I just dont find it fun at all and whats the point of playing if you arent enjoying what you do? Hell I can hardly stomach leveling new characters.
So how do WvW people get enough gold to make legendary weapons? I see people who mostly WvW with legendaries all the time so I assume you can get them from only doing WvW. At what point will you start earning enough gold to cover consumables and also put towards a legendary? Once you get into higher ranks do rank up chests start giving better rewards?
so bought some this morning for pretty cheap. Noticed they went up to around 4.8 gold each then fell back down to 3.6 gold. Should I be kicking myself for not selling at 4.8g or will they go back up once NA gets into prime time with more demand?
I know t1 is pretty blobby and at times skill lag is out of control but at least theres always fights. I mean skill lag will eventually be fixed but can you fix the bottom servers? Are there even commanders on the t 7/8 servers?

yea if you are a baddie. My Ele is usually one of the few people left standing if there is a wipe. I rarely die. I mean why would you even try to go near the train if you arent a Guardian or Warrior? Heavies drive the train and Necros, Eles, and a few Mesmers sit back and pew pew pew. I dont even run toughness because I dont get hit.
I dont understand why this is a light field. Its pretty obvious that the intended purpose of the ability is healing. So why then would they make it a field that would ruin any water field dropped by an Ele? Its totally worthless in WvW because you will be murdered by your raid if you dropped it on top of a water field during a large battle. I know it has its uses in small havoc groups but even in that situation it would still be better as a water field.
OK just happened again. We wiped like 20-25 of them. I had 20 loot bags before the fight and 20 after. Landed a perfect Meteor Storm + Tornado right on their heads and stayed on them in tornado for the full duration with numbers everywhere. Didnt get a single bag. I run support 0/0/10/30/30 with Valk gear so maybe my damage sucks?
I cant figure this thing out. Was on my Ele in a group with 2 warriors and a Guardian. We went up against a blob of like 40. I was never downed once during the fight. I used pretty much every single spell I had multiple times and even went Tornado twice. After the fight I got 2 blues, a metal scrap, a white, and only 3 loot bags. What did I do wrong?
must have been my drivers. they updated for a pretty decent amount of time. after restart could play on auto detect just fine even in large scale fights. also getting 70-80 fps in large cities. only had to turn off shadows and reflections but who plays with those on anyways.
I only love doing WvW but I am forced to use best performance and everyone looks terrible. Half the time I cant even see what Im attacking either. With my setting set to best performance I can only see the commander tag and like 5 character models at a time. If Im on my Ele I can raise the settings a little since Im never in the blob. But my Guardian is unplayable on anything other than garbage settings. I hope I only need a new GPU. Right now this is my setup.

Im really getting sick of dropping my current target especially during events like Tequatl. Even if I mark it with Ctrl T a lot of times I will still start picking random targets especially when I drop AoEs. Then even if Im clicking on the mobs it wont bring them up as being targeted. How do you make it so your current target stays as your current target until you actually want to target something else?
so how does the mentor guild work for getting groups? I really dont like sending random tells to people I dont know but people dont usually rep so I cant ask in guild chat.
Been playing the game off and on since it went live but have never done a single dungeon. I usually only spend my time doing WvW but want to start trying some dungeons out at least for the achievements. Since I only do WvW I am broke so I dont have full ascended gear or multiple different gear/rune sets. I do know how to play my class though. Would love to start running some dungeons so I can learn them. I keep trying to do them in LFG but its worse than the WoW LFG tool. Everyone is a jerk and you get kicked after 5 mins. How the hell do they expect you to know what to do if you never get a chance?
Have Guardian or Ele but more experienced with my Ele.
so wanted to make a character for roaming around when I dont feel like playing in large group fights. Decided to make a Mesmer and been playing around in sPvP but im getting owned. By owned I dont mean the guy has more skill than me. I mean I just die before I can even get clones up or dodge or do anything else to react. Also I dont know what the hell skill Maul is but its hitting me for 10k damage. Im doing good then all of a sudden Im dead. Same thing with Necros. Im doing good, they do something and then i get hit three times for 4k damage per hit and Im dead.
Im 100% sure this is a L2play issue on my part since Im still learning the class but Is that pretty much how its going to be if I run around solo in WvW as well? I dont even understand how to try and counter people if they can kill you in seconds. If its that bad I will just stick to the zerg.
this seems like something very easy to understand. The heterosexual relationships are in the game but they go unnoticed because when you see it you dont think anything about it. But then along comes a lesbian relationship and you immediately notice it. It has nothing to do with gay or straight just what you are used to. When you see something that isnt considered “the norm” it will stand out more.
For example I live in the South and where I live we are about 60:40 whites to blacks. I am used to seeing black people. When I see a black person I dont think anything about their race. On the other hand when I went to boarding school in CT there were 2 black kids in the whole school, hell probably the whole town. When we took trips into town people stared at them almost like they have never seen a black kid before.
so if your server is out zerged during oceanic times how else do you stop 25-30 people from changing the color on your borderlands? seems like ACs are the only answer to “Outnumbered”
Also were people in the middle ages screaming for siege to be nerfed?
When im playing on my Ele there are things that will perma root me and I wont be allowed to move.
1. Canceling a build in WvW such as a Ram. I will be rooted inside the Ram unable to move
2. Using Fire staff #4 Burning Retreat. Sometimes if I use this and immediately try to move it will lock me in place. I cant move, jump, dodge, or anything. If I wait until it comes off of cooldown and use it again it will unroot me but why should I have to do that?
I think there are others but these are the ones I know will sometimes cause me to stay rooted in place. I can still cast spells but I am not allowed to move. It happens often enough to be really annoying.
Once you finish all your achievements there isnt really anything to do other than the Scarlet Fight. If you fail to kill the three Knights to open the portals to Scarlet there is nothing to do except log out for an hour and hope you win next time. At least in the previous update you could rescue citizens during the entire hour or just farm bags.
