If you’re in EU just refund them and then take them to court to sue them for your additional losses. It’s an EU law that a refund is not allowed to impact joint purchases to that refund unless it came in a set. So for them to refund you $50 for your $200 total purchases is robbery.
Refund them for the $50 HoT, then take them to court and refund for the additional $150, also inform your bank of the situation because depending on the bank, if you explain the policy and how it breaches EU law they will chargeback the money for you.

I’m not saying GW2 is a bad game, I still believe GW2 is the best MMO on the market to date, but I think it’s a little harsh that new players get the core game free.
By that logic it would be more beneficial for me to create a new account, buy the expansion on a new account and start from the beginning, then sell my excisting account for a fairly large amount of money. Which is a breach of terms and conditions I know. But that is the part I’m unsure of. I doubt the core game is “Free” with the expansion as the devs stated. Cause if so this has to be up there as the worlds most expensive expansion, the cost is only just shy of being able to pre-order Fallout 4… No expansion should match prices of full game releases.

I’m sorry but I have to start this discussion because I need to find out if I’m alone in my thoughts here, and I’m tired of the illogical arguements generated in game regarding this matter.
First of all, before you call me cheap, poor etc. I can easially afford the $50 cost of the expansion, I could afford 100 copies if I really wanted to. But afford and willing to pay are different. I find it absurd to charge the full price of a AAA game for how little content is being added. A few new maps, WvW maps, specilization, new class and mastery system. All of those content additions are wonderful, but is it really worth the full price of a game for content that will last less than 24 hours?
Unless there is far more content being hidden away from us as a surprise I refuse to continue supporting this game, when you consider you can pay for various popular MMO’s such as WoW for $15 and in the MONTHLY update already adds more content than this expansion is adding. Granted WoW is a pay to play but you’re still getting 5x more content for your buck.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
Ah right, good to know it’s not just that I totally suck then :P
I always thought waiting for them to go into Air then dropping heavy burst would counter them.
So would a Hammer be better at taking them out in that case? Cause of the Ring and Banish?
I recently started playing Guardian about a week ago, got it to level 80 and found the build I find fits me the most is Medi Guard cause it reminds me of playing Thief in a weird way.
I’m doing really great at beating other Guard build builds and almost all other classes. But Ele’s always wreck me. I don’t know if I’m just noob at Medi guard, or unlucky with the Ele’s I run into. But what is the best way a medi guard can beat ele’s? If there is even a solid counter to Ele?
This is a VERY simple Auto Hot Key macro I made that’s for all the legit music players. What it does is simply changes your keys on your keyboard to all corospond to a note. So pressing Q will go into up octave, then press 1, then back to mid octave in one key press. this way Q-I will play high notes, A-K will play mid notes and Z-< will play low notes. So you’re able to play all notes without that awkward switching of Octaves.
This is a very simple script as I said, I don’t know much at all about AHK so it doesn’t have a toggle function or anything fancy like that. All your AHK scripters can feel free to advancify it. But as it is now it works for what it is. I use this to bind my Piano Keyboard to be able to play notes in game via my Piano Keyboard

Yea true damage isn’t anything to boast about, but for how survivable it is I find the damage to be enough for the way I play, as using Axe to stack might, then switching to Greatsword and using Maul I can still get a 4k crit, which isn’t much lower than a zerker.
Of course if you play more of a roamer, unlike me who tends to play point defence you could simple switch the amulet to a Zerker amulet and still be a very strong Melee build
I already know the reaction this build will get, but I ecourage people to try it and you could be surprised.
So I got bored and decided I wanted to make up a power based Ranger, but I don’t want PewPew Ranger, cause I got bored of the PewPew years ago. So I decided to try something totally different, and I was quite surprised by the outcome.
This build uses Axe/Horn Greatsword and Soldier stats, which makes it quite survivable, the Axe gives lots of might against group fights, constantly maintaining 10-15 stacks of might with the whole build. And the Greatsword offers great evade, block and damage.
Using all Survival skills Survival of the Fittest is a total no brainer, as well as picking up some nice extra damage traits from the Strength of the spirit, Two Hand Training and the 5th minor. Which brings the damage of this build to a surprising level considering it’s PVT.
Of course some parts of this can be tweaked. If you wish to stick to Longbow you can change Spotter for Eagle Eye, and replace the Axe/Horn.
And if you’re one of the Anti-PVT squad you can change Soldier Amulet for Knights and get a bit better damage with Crits. I encourage all Rangers who want Power but don’t want PewPew to try this build out, you might be as surprised as I by it’s effectiveness to stand it’s ground.
Mastery Systems are only for PVE
Oh really? That’s kinda disapointing
One thing that’s got me really curious about HoT is how will ArenaNet handle PvP. If the Mastery system is restricted to HoT owners only, will that also mean only HoT players will be able to use the Mastery system in PvP? Or will Mastery be disabled for PvP? Or is the Mastery going to be part of a free update? Or will players have limited access to the Mastery system for PvP only, and lose the feature when enterting PvE/WvW?
So many questions, and this topic is one that has me most curious, given how ArenaNet origionally planned for PvP to be the most balanced and fair playing ground as possible.
I personally think if Mastery system is going to be restricted for HoT owners only, giving limited access to the system for PvP would be a great marketing choice, as it would keep things balanced and also act as a passive marketing scheme to encourage players to buy into the expansion. What do you guys think about this topic?
Would appreciate if a dev could clear this mystery up for me, though I doubt that will happen ^.^

I always thought those full server are just there to prevent over flooding of wvw. Some server have really long queue time.
if you dont’ wvw. it doesn’t matter which server your from, you can always play with your friend.
I know, but I’m a WvW player and their WvW friends. :P
Guess I’ll just have to see if it changes from full after the WvW reset and see if that changes it
Do inactive players effect a servers “Fullness” last night I deleted all my 5 level 80 characters to transfer to Deso to join up with my friends, only to find it had turned to full
Curious if inactive players will effect it, and trying to estimate how long I have to stare at having 0 characters =[
You could, but you’d struggle in some aspects of the game. For PvE and PvP you should be fine as long as you bump down settings. WvW however you would struggle to get high frame rates as WvW is very CPU demanding. I run a Quad Core 2.8GHz processor and WvW is taxing for my CPU.
However ArenaNet added the feature to adjust character limit at some point, so you can bump that to lowest and other Characters won’t render above a certain amount. And with that lowest you should scrape by. But if you got the cash to spare I’d go for one with a better processor just to be safe, and make it last a little longer for other games too
Exactly same issue here, can’t even update the game.
I managed to update my game, I realized it does update still while crashed. So I just left it crashed for a while. Then when the green bar on the toolbar was full I closed it and re-opened it and it was updated. My problem is pressing play before it crashes. It can be done if fast enough. And for me the game itself runs fine, just the launcher =[
Anyone else having issues after the latest update (16/03/15) on the launcher with AMD drivers?
Since the latest update when I launch GW2 my AMD drivers (Graphics) will crash, recover, crash, recover, crash, recover constantly while the launcher is active. If I’m fast enough to login and press play the game runs fine, and I don’t get the same problem with the game itself. Just the launcher :S. Anyone else got this? or know a solution?
I get a lot more Q_Qers playing my Regen Ranger than I do playing my PewPew Ranger.
Power Ranger they have a CHANCE to win… Against a Regen Ranger theres no chance of winning 1v1. 1k HP a second, 3.3k Armor. almost 50% protection up time. That’s a lot more thrustrating than any PewPew Ranger
You can also not go full zerker, or don’t go Power Ranger in PvP.
Power Ranger for tPvP is a very unique style of play and requires a special kind of player style. If it’s not working for you, you’re not in that style.
Personally I use Regen Ranger in PvP, full Settlers, 6 Nature magic and 6 Beastmastery, gains over 700hp a second, 3300 armor and plenty of protection up time.
For WvW I use Stealth Trapper with full dire and trapper runes (duh)
And I keep my Zerker gear for Dungeons or WvW zergs/defence.
Imo using a Longbow is taking yourself out of the “Skirmishing” style, also noone has to use the Longbow, full zerk Melee Rangers are also really effective skirmishers, GS and S/H or S/A.
Not sure how relevent it would be to the style you wish to play, personally I play a trapper build with the newly added Trapper Runes, trappers always used to be competative imo, but with the stealth on traps I think their now a much more solid choice. If you’re curious of looking more into it I’ll link my build below;
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQRAsf3YjMqUua9KerQ1ag8gaVA0eI22fg9IsCtQJrIK-TlTAABK8AAo4AKYwBBY99HC4EAkj+BIM/gnJoZ0wAwRAYgDUwVK/iVJISq/QKAYmbB-w
This build has been by far my favourite WvW build, and I’ve played since beta and tried almost every build. Of course it’s down to preference. But for me this is the most entertaining. But maybe cause I find it hilarias to trap a choke point and watch a group blindly roll over them :P
This build suffers heavy from conditions though, like most Ranger builds do. Which is why I take Empathic Bond and Healing Spring. If you want to be more aggressive you can get Poison Master, and maybe a more burst heal like Heal as One.
Hope this helps
Just curious where on earth ANets customer support team is, if it even exists… I sent a support ticket about a purchase fail 4 months ago and still till this day I had no response, in my rage of lack of effort in my service to this game being totally disregarded I quit GW2 (After a month of no response).
I decided to return after this recent patch cause it looked interesting accidently deleted my account with my 3 permanent gathering tools like a kitten face and decided to contact contact support, with a lack of hope that A they would respond and B they would actually be able to help with this problem, and now 2 weeks later I was lucky to get an automated message back from them, a friend of mine is having the same problems with customer support and getting no word back from them…
So I must ask if they even exist? This service is shocking and disgusting and until it improves anet can forget about my service continuing… Complete lack of care for all of their customers with everything from patches to customer support and financial support.
I’ve used Longbow in WvW and it is possible though I personally don’t think it’s ideal. Depending how big your small group is you should be fine as long as you can position yourself somewhere you’re going going to be focused. In a very small group you will be the focus of attention and Longbow builds lack mobility and survivability in most cases.
I also want to use my Longbow in WvW but finding a suitable build for it is proving to be tricky =[, I’m considering playing my Warrior meanwhile since I got her to level 80 recently :P
I was wondering how the Splitter acts when used on a weapon that has had a “Skin” applied to it, I applied Lovestruck skin to my Longbow and Greatsword but having second thoughts on if I like using the Longbow/Greatsword, and I was wondering if I use a Transmutation Splitter on them would it give me the skin back, and more importantly would that skin be soulbound as the tooltip suggests?
Personally don’t see it as an issue but each to their own I guess, in terms of the Longbow and Shortbow they are as they are visually yes, they don’t change at all later game.
How ever if you haven’t tried them already the Greatsword has some nice animations and visuals to it, as well as the Sword
I’m getting my Ranger to level 80 again after transferring servers and something that has been on my mind for a while is Assassin vs Berserker. Though Assassin is generally disliked I feel it has some potential and I’m curious how it compares with Berserker. Does the extra critical change balance out the loss in Power because of the more frequent critical hits?
If anyone has compared the two side by side I’d love to know the results of how much damage is lost with Assassins w/ Longbow/GS as it would be nice to save a bunch of gold not having to get Berserker again.
I’ve recently been flip flopping builds wasting many Transmute Crystals and gold to keep my cultrul skin and aftering trying a full zerker build for about a week I’ve realized the Power Crit ranger just isn’t working for me, there’s too little escape, and too little damage to justify the squishyness.
Prior to this I tried a Rabid/Zerker Bleed/Crit ranger which I felt worked a lot better but I was curious of a full zerker, now the question I ask is how would Rampager gear with Zerker trinkets work as a Bleed/Crit with lots of bleed on crit bonuses etc, is it plausible or would I be best going back for Rabid?
Edit: Additionally, is there any advice on what prefix might work best for a nice balance between Damage, Crit and Condition damage, I find I enjoy a split of Physical and Condition damage so I’m not so situation, and I like the bleed on crit’s
(edited by DancinPuppeh.8421)
Well I want to keep the GS/LB spec, since that is the type of ranger I like. I know I’m not going to be a world beater but I want to at least be able to hold my own a little. I might check out a secondary build into what you play and try it, once I get some more gold.
If you want to stick with the GS/LB, which I understand cause for me giving up my LB was tough, I would personally go all glass cannon as it can pack a mean punch that will take everyone by surprise. no one expects a Ranger to down them in a few blows.
My first build was a LB/GS Zerker as I said before, and with all Ascended Zerker trinkets and Exotic armour/weapons my LB dealt around 2500 damage on auto attack (Crit) and 12-14k Rapid fire, and GS Hilt Bash + Maul combo would deal a mean 9-10k crit.
Also as Noobie said I would go with a stun break over regen with little healing power, in WvW you’ll find yourself being stunned and immobilized all the time. And if you do go glass cannon that will get you killed.
With a zerg or a partner this build should work fine, as long as you know when and how to swap to GS, though for solo roaming you might run into trouble, this is similar to the zerker build I used to run.
I now use http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQNBlYDbkoqxuwSxC1OAsUIYedGZKJnxhGexSVJB-jkBBYhCykfQUFBOFtIasqFYqSER1CB8YNA-w for my WvW/PvE/PvP build (Don’t like to switch around builds too much)
It’s an interesting mix from my experiance having Rabid armour/weapons with Zerker amulets. The reason for this initally is because I have all Ascended Trinkets Zerker, and didn’t want to invest so much time doing it all over again to get Rabid ones. But I found the split of Physical damage and Bleed damage is really nice, having my build focus on bleed I deal 500-600 physical damage with my Shortbow and depending how many stacks I can keep on a target around 2000 damage per second bleed. (If I can keep 15+ which I normally can maintain.
I’ve found this build to work better for me in WvW personally as I’m less squishy and a lot more damaging but everyone has their own preference and it’s mostly down to what you feel keeps you alive.
Full Glass Longbow Ranger is the glassiest build in the game, you will need to have somewhere to run or hide to. However the damage is amazing, over 1000 range expect 3k autos and rapid fire should hit a hefty 8-18k depending on how glassy you go. Signet of the Hunt 150% proc with maul can hit 12k also.
Wrong wrong wrong, ele is far glassier than ranger. 3k auto on longbow? haha I want to see that nice troll nice troll.
If you want a power ranger build go GS + Sword/* be better damage than you could ever hope for on bow plus you’ve have some nice evades (survivability)
I don’t want to lose my bow, I do archery in real life and I’m very enthusiastic about it
All depends what you mean by power ranger as that name really includes any spec that uses a longbow. Also includes shortbow specs that just ignore condis and go for power. I tend to think power rangers mostly run signet builds, but even that has several specs included.
Overall though, it’s not that great of a roaming build. It does exceptionally well against thieves, but that’s because of their lack of stability and your rapid fire tracking through stealth.
It does well against Warriors, but the fights last a long time since healing signet + adrenal health heals about 30-50% of the damage you do.
Eles also tend to be easy because their burst is easy to soak with a signet build and their health is quite low.
Anything that runs mostly condis will eat you alive. This is the reason it’s a poor roaming build as most roamers, other than thieves, run condi.
Mesmers and Necros I don’t even bother with because the lack of burst and AE makes these fights too much of a hassle.
Play it for awhile and you’ll really notice the lack of AE, Condi cleanse, and AE and why most say it’s such an uphill battle.
What would you suggest for a roaming build? As I do like to roam WvW as it used to be my greatest past time, and can the Ranger really roam? I’ve never seen the Ranger as a roamer
I have no problem hiding, hours as a thief got me into the habit of hiding and running out of engagements :P Just wanted to know if it’s worth it considering thief and warrior can hit a lot harder.
I’m curious on how a pure 100% Power Crit Ranger works when against other classes, on my first account I was a thief and played the thief out as much as possible, legendary etc.
When I made this account I decided to go Ranger because of my love for bows and seeing that it’s slightly improved since when I first played and I got my Ranger to level 80, so I’m at the point picking what endgame gear I want to gear towards and I want to know how well a power crit ranger works since their damage is heavily kitten by the pet, or is it more beneficial to go for a tougher build?
I expected as much, Maybe I’ll stick with TERA until ANet pull their thumb out of their kitten and buff the Longbow. Thanks for the information
I quit GW2 a few months back due to the pure neglect Ranger gets, after skimming over the last update notes I seen we got “some” love. Do these changes fix Ranger at all or is it still as crappy as it always was?
Which title would best suit a female Asura Ranger?
I can think of a couple ideas, Like Beastmaster, Explorer, Huntress(maybe?) and maybe even Alchemist since a Ranger would generally be into making potions out of herbs and such. But I’m not sure if I’m 100% in love with any of them. Are there any titles I’m missing that might suit Ranger better?
Also, another question. Is Ranger a suitable asura class (Lorewise)
Thanks Caledore, I’ll try Ammi, that sounds great I had that or Amii in my mind but wasn’t sure if it sounded like an Asura or not, if it’s taken do you have any ideas of a Title/Krewe suitable for a thief?
I’m planning on remaking my Character as an Asura and I’m clueless when it comes to thinking of an Asura name. So any suggestions would be appreciated
My name irl is Amy if anyone could “Asurafy” it :P any any name would do
Also my middle and surname’s are Alyx Louise McQueen. If Amy is un Asurafyable (making up words is fun)
If Norn and Charr could carry more nobody would be any other race, cause you can’t just give Norn and Charr a bonus like that without something in return for the other races
Nice idea, I have a friend who made The Thieves Guild with just Thieves
I would join but I play guildless. A lone wolf if you would
Although I agree the Longbow needs some help I disagree completely with your opinion.
The reason I disagree is because I don’t want a FAST longbow I want a strong longbow, the main reason I hate the short bow is actually how fast it shoots, because it looks rediculus. I do Archery in real life as a hobby and I’m very attached to Bow’s and Archery. The last thing I want is my Longbow to shoot faster cause it looks ugly as hell.
However, I would like to see it do a lot more damage, have a Range of 1500 by default and change the trait which increase the Range to something more useful that the Ranger can use. and to remove the whole damage more the further the target is. I understand the Range-Damage thing is to balance and promote long range tactics but really, from real life experiences I can tell you a Longbow in reality is the complete opposite, and will do more damage the closer you are
A simple solution which almost all Rangers will agree with because it’s an optional thing so Rangers can decide for them self, give Rangers the ability to stow there pet without it coming back out on combat engage in exchange for stats which will be on par with the other professions.
I’m not sure if there are flaws with that design but it’s certainly a good stepping stone to finding a solution
They said their looking for solutions? If so it’s great to hear their finally taking care to us Rangers, it’s only been months >_>
OP There are many pets I would love, and griffons would be awesome. I want Rock Dogs too =[
The thought of that was adorable, what would be even better is if they we’re visible but just stayed on you, like a parrot on your shoulder, or a ferret which runs around you climbing all around you. That would be adorable and it would make my day
Nice, I like the first name but not so much the WhiteHawk, 7/10
Mine – Amalia Peláez
I kinda like the idea but I also don’t, MMO’s that have this feature usually result in most players running around half naked, which looks stupid though humorous. But I can understand why it would be appropriate for a Norn due to their nature. But as stated there are some armor sets out there that show a lot of skin.
This is just the way AI works, mobs have different variables which determines who they attack and how, and Risen chose to attack the player over the pet, there’s a few other mobs which also do this, mostly Champions and Veterans will also ignore the pet. It sometimes helpes if you send your pet in with F1 then attack after your pets taking damage
Thanks for the answers, I’m a thief, and going for a backstab/stealth build so I think I’ll be alright going fully power/crit
Hey, I’m currently planning my level 80 gear, and what I want to have at level 80 and I’m wondering if getting pure Power Prec and crit damage would be a bad idea, or should I have something that’s main focus is toughness and vitality, like power/crit rings and accessory then a pure toughness and vitality amulet?
The current plan I have in mind is to get Power Prec and Crit damage ascended trinkets, and the full set of Whispers god armor, I’m too lazy to mix and match the god sets, so I’ll get all Whispers for a bit more stat diversity.
If this is a bad idea what should my plan look like instead?
I use Abyss with Gold, or Abyss with Humiliation (Pink)
That sucks =[ I guess I’ll have to save up a lot of gold and buy the Bow from the TP
