right now minions are just a cosmetic.

Yesterday i way playing a few tournaments and 2 of 3 minions refused to attack the kitten door.

After 5 seconds of fooling around they slowly moved to the door just to turn around and smell at some flowers.

Flesh golem is the best. If hes not chasing around critters hes propably busy looking for delicious mushrooms while his master gets gangarped by some 8 inch norn guardians….

Please excuse my confusion but how steal + backstab + heart seeker are 2 skills?

Why on earth are you not moving/dodgin after the dmg and seeing the thief going invisible?! It is even worse if the thief uses CnD (IT HAS CAST TIME). The thief has a maximum of 4 seconds during which he can land backstab. Get a way, use blind, use knockdown use anything to prevent the thief doing dmg on your back in the for 3-4 seconds. If you manage to get away:

Steal is on at least 30 (or more? not sure with 30 in thrickery) CD or the thief lost 6 initiate due to CnD.

This build is a one trick pony. It is easy aviodable in 1v1. In group fights well its harder but still doable.

People learned to avoid bull rush + hundred blades WHY on earth you can`t learn to MOVE when you see a thief wearing a dagger in MH getting invis close to you?!

Because many times i dont see him getting invis. Actually you can be happy when you see him at all.

I would say the best thing you can do is practice. Keeping track of the situation is something you are either capable of or not.

In messy situations many players start to panic and faceroll their keyboard without any control over their actions. Just try to stay calm and search for glass cannon builds that you can take out easily.

Yeah, I also love my necro until I meet HS/PW rogue, then I want to punch somebody.
There is absolutely nothing I can do about them, once I dodge twice I just watch my health bar drop like crazy.

You need to fix your build then.

nerfing dmg or buffing defense wont change that.

YES i played a thief myself and yes compared to other classes (even mesmer) thief gameplay is designed for braindead monkeys.

except some stacking stealth, it last 3seconds – 4 traited – on thief, and mesmers are so strong not thanks to stealth. moreover, after revealt, a thief has 3 secs in which he cannot stealth again.
what is the purpose of a stealth revelator? because you die to a lot of backstab’s thieves?
do you play 8v8 or 5v5?

actually i take apart most thiefs that come for me just because im tanky enough to take it. Problem is not the thiefs damage but the way he provides it. Theres no “risk” for the reward he gets.

Stealth detection provides this risk.

First of all im playing a necro! I know thiefs are hitting hard and yeah i was upset about it.

BUT

from a PVE perspective it is senseless to nerf their damage. On the long run this wont be a solution.

Also think about it.. is it really the damage that keeps killing you? or is it their abiliy to sneak up on you and hit you unprepared just to vanish again?

What is it that keeps mesmer and thiefs alive?

You are right! ITS their Stealth!

So we need an easy solution that does not affect PVE right ?

Let me think about it… why not simply … give us some utility traits/skills that grant somekind of stealth detection?

“BUT THAT WILL RUIN THIEFS CLASS MECHANIC!!!!!! QQ :*(”

If implemented the right way NO it wont!

A few examples:

Engineer:
One of the turrets could provide an aoe (fixed radius) stealth detection.

Necro:
One of the Minions could provide an aoe stealth detection.

Ranger:
One of the Traps could provide an aoe stealth detection.

Elementalist:
Switching attunements could provide an aoe stealth detection buff. (trait maybe)

Warrior:
a Stance or maybe a buffshout could provide an aoe stealth detection buff.

Guardian:
is played tanky most in the cases anyway and doesnt need stealth detection :P

same goes for mesmer and thiefs themself.

Oh and before i forget.. NO.. Thiefs wont be useless by this gameplay addition.. the only difference would be that you guys now need a brain and map awareness to initiate on someone. Complexity is something the thief class is missing anyway.

Sorry but… you get downed by a noob glass cannon thief mashing heartseeker and are confused.

Let’s see, you’re wearing light armor, went +healing main ammy (no defense, but instead superior regen), and you’re against someone who went max damage – who you still managed to down despite having inferior power, armor, and health.

Again, where is the problem? You look pretty glass to me, though you’re missing the cannon.

2k toughness (with minions spawned) and 3000 defense on light armor looks glass to you? O_O

Also why are you using a shaman’s amulet? I was under the impression that necro’s don’t have anything that scales well with + healing.

Because “consume conditions” does and when u got like 5+ conditions on you it heals for 10k+. Also the regeneration on mark of blood scales.

Okay so i dodged 2 of these and and my flesh golem missed his charge. Fear mark was on CD. Worm was on CD.

DS was on 50%. DS fear missed.

WHAT could i have done?

With minions spawned i got 2k toughness

PS: I owned him the next 2 times he tried that with 80% hp left but anyway its broken.

Right now im using DS only to get the 4th skill on cd and block dmg burst like 100 blades ..

The first skill doesnt do any dmg on my condition build.

The second one gets me to meele range what is very counter productive on my staff build.

The fear is not really worth the casttime.

anyway it could be worse but right now ds has no real use aside of the extra health and aoe drain.

Upcoming Features need to be upcoming today.

There is going to be a huge blog post in the coming days explaining future plans for spvp. Emoqt, Arenanet is known for giving out extremely great pvp content and we are not forgotten. They only want to ensure that everything is perfect when it’s all implemented. It’s the beginning of the game, and hardly a month into release, right now I suggest practicing with your team and your class/es.

My team went 4 days without losing, not because we are exceptional but the competition is lacking. It took 4 days to find a team that even made the game challenging, We are NOT learning from this in anyway shape or form.

Let’s cut to the chase, I created Necro after reaching level 80 with Thief’s DB build and so far I quiet like it, in fact imo this class is one of the easiest class to play, especially when you have non-minions build that just constantly spewing numbers.

My Necro is currently at level 30+ and at first, I was kinda lost to which what build I should go for, so I went to forums to know about different builds but to my surprise, there are so many criticism in regards to this class, e.g.: not being strong enough or something along those lines. I solo’ed two veterans with ‘well build’, kill packs with ‘corruption build’ and I rarely have down times.

So what I don’t get is that, what are people whining about? the bugs does not make the class unplayable; in fact I went through high spawn rate areas without much of an issue in regards to this. I can even survive better than my thief using necro.

You did Well on PVE easy mode.

Now go to PVP and test your might.

Come back after that.

Hey guys,

i started playing my necro 2 days ago (PVP). I really love the class and especially the whole concept.

But somehow i feel the DS abilitys simply do not fit into the whole metagame or any build at all.

For example when i play a staff build i somehow expect to get some abilitys that either buff my pets for the duration or an improved version of my marks (for example a weaker version of the lichs “spawn minions” ability).

on the other hand

When i play a D/D build wouldnt it be greate to become a DS beast/deamon that gets improved meele combat abilitys? a leap or something like that?

is it just me? what do you think about ds abilitys?

Envelope yourself with electric energy that stuns nearby foes if they attack you.

What its like:

A Ranger unloading 50 arrows in ur face from point blank range not giving a kitten about your “stun NEARBY foes on attack” skill.

Soothing Wave Trait Tooltip:

Mist form, Frost Bow, Signet of Water grant 6 seconds of regeneration

What its like:

I spawn a frost bow and dont get a kitten.

You being invulnerable for 4 seconds and not doing anything productive in that 4 seconds to retaliate, regroup or escape is your own fault. Do not blame your lack of ability to play your own class on another class.

Well the 15 stacks of bleeding + 2 stacks of burning + 4 stacks of poison dealing 8k of dmg while im “invulnerability” (if that is what you want to call it) and rooted distract me from doing something usefull.

WRONG! Elementalists Rogue build can expect to 2-2-2-2 to victory! Did you even watch the video?

L2P issue on your side mate.

#1: HS is nerfed. Read that carefully. I know it’s a hard concept to understand.

#2: You can kill anyone if you 2v1, 3v1, 4v1 someone…and vise versa.

#3: Only bad players die to HS spamming bad thieves.

#4: Learn to play an elementalist better.

It seems to work much better in pve for me but you cant use it on most bosses because it wont hit. so you end up sitting in front of the boss like an idiot for a few seconds till it breaks or he one shots you.

Yeah its pretty buggy atm. Im feeling with you.

Ok iv seen ALOT of qq about thieves and people calling out for nerf nerf nerf and yes because anet has to satisfy the majority and nerf HS so as to not lose majority of its consumers, it did, and now what happens? People complain about PW PW PW spam omg noob noob, seriously when anyone wants to QQ PLEASE actually TRY OUT and PLAY the class before QQing so hard and complaining of faceroll and realise that its not that easy to land your PW on a team fight and its even harder to survive as a squishy thief in a teamfight if u actually want to do bursty damage like what everyone is complaining about having 14k hp with 2k toughness is certainly not easy to survive, and if one specs into glass cannon build to do such damage than its justified as he is easily killed, and i know its aggravating to see 17k pistol whip damage done and just die in 3 seconds but do you realise that IF you actually sneak up to the thief and do the same thing u can easily kill him in the same amount of time?? Have anyone thought of that? Well of course you should be able to play your own class decently.

And also on another hand, WHY is gurdians not being called for major nerf when all i see of gurdians in pvp is faceroll? ( i even tried one myself) Really MANY of its created specs are ridiculous, Spirit weapons build with bane signet? You are almost undefeatable 1v1 except against a mesmer with a 8 SECOND KNOCKDOWN (bane signets 2 sec + hammer of wisdom 3 sec command and another 3 sec on chain Immediately right after the command skill which is on a 15 SECONDS cooldown.

This sir is ridiculous i mean a 6 second knockdown on a 15 sec cooldown? Adding on the fact that the weapons damage is pretty decent which crits for 3k to 4k and the damage u deal from scepter and auto attacks are pretty decent, also a gurdians heal heals for 8K + (not triated) on a 32 sec cd THIS is ridiculous IMO the highest heal in the game that has a decent cooldown, and triple meditation builds are just undefeatable by a thief 1v1 seriously ANY Class should be able to beat ANY class 1v1 with a higher skill of the player. Oh and add on mr retaliation with a 30 second retaliation build who is untouchable unless you wanna die.

And now for the final question, WHY are there so manykittenqq posts about thieves being op op op while gurdian is left untouched????! Having played 2 classes, i can tell you that GURDIAN is even MORE faceroll than thieves and and hammer of wisdom is really too much and the 100% uptime retaliation builds are just OPED upfront IMO.

I have no problem with the glass cannon build on thiefes or the damage output. I have a problem that the same thief strikes me and goes back into stealth … and not only one time but like 3-4 times everytime i have to face one

Lightning whip has such a tiny hitbox that it will miss whenever you or your opponent moves. Might just be because I have Australian latency, but seeing the whip go straight through the mob over and over with a string of red ‘miss miss miss miss miss miss’ gets really frustrating really fast.

It also misses static objects like weapon racks about 90% of the time too.

Tidal wave has the same problem for me, I torpedo straight through a mob with a string of red miss spam, but I get the impression its more latency based after seeing it hit properly sometimes.

I can approve this. Yesterday i was Lightning whipping a ranger moving right in front of me. The animation went right trough him for like 6-7 hits not dealing any damage. I didnt even get a “Miss”.

Very annoying

Playing a Mesmer myself i can tell you that you either didnt meet a good one yet or your lying.

I like the downed state mechanic. It gives you a slight chance for a second shot. Sure the downed state spells need some fixing in numbers and cooldowns. But in general its a nice addition for me.

Hey Guys,

after Playing my lvl40-PVPR10 Mesmer since launch and crawling trough all these “Mesmer is OP” threads i thought maybe its time to see the whole situation from another point of view.

First of all i have to admit that especially in 1on1 situations my mesmer is nearly unkillable. I win around 95% of all duels and have quite a good chance in 2on1 situations.

Curious how elementalist pvp looks like i created my elementalist 3 days ago and PVEd to level 10 to get a feel for the weapons and the class. After that i spend a few hours (at work) theorycrafting in the forums/using the build calculator. I decided to go double dagger because its actually fitting my playstyle the most. (AND the skills are pretty cool)

Anyway as used to the mesmer playstyle as i was the first time i joined into sPVP i was like roflroflwtf who just stomped me in seconds?!?

So spending a few hours resetting traits, getting owned and playing around with different builds i finally came up with somthing i liked to play.

Right now i have a good chance against most classes (aside from mesmers that simply stomp me, Irony of life i guess) depending on the players skill. Engineers seem to be a pain in thekitten but i cant even say why.

One of the things i learned pretty fast is, that i should no longer charge in 2on1 situations. Running is defintely the better decision.

Point is compared to my mesmer it feels like i lost 40% of my power/defense.

I propably will keep playing my Mesmer because i like the whole concept but i have to admit, that we are definitely over the top. I know the Mesmer mechanics pretty well but playing as an elementalist myself i have no clue how to counter it. And AOE is definetily no solution.

Aside from that, the Elementalists downed state really could use a rework on cooldowns. Vapor form should be available right on. Compared to the Mesmers/Thiefs downed state this is really a joke.

BUT i really enjoyed playing my elementalist and the challenges it provides in PVP. As soon as my Mesmer hits 80 i will reroll. =)

The “inability” to play with your friends is the only thing that prevents games from become “stomp the pubs”. Premade teams have ruined PvP in every MMO since forever, even GW that didn’t allow you to easily group had people syncing and pub stomping.

Randomized teams is the way to go.

You have no idea what you are talking about, in Guild Wars 2 the better player wins, it is as simple as that.

On my Thief I play and win a lot, on my Necromancer I play and win a lot, on my Warrior I play and DON’T win a lot.

What does this mean?

I am good at playing Thief and Necromancer and I suck at playing a Warrior. 90% of the time the problem is the player, not the profession.

If you think a certain profession is overpowered, make that profession and play it.

the point is NOT that thiefs are OP but that you need less skill to play a thief successfull compared to other classes. Where an elementalist has to use 6 cooldowns and dodge to do fine the thief has to use 2-3 and no dodge tokittenmostly everything.

how is it even possible that a mesmer illusion is hitting the same dmg then some highest burst attack of other classes?

My Illusions are hitting for 0-4 dmg per hit.

Not sure if trolling or just plain stupid.

Edit: Oh and our Phantasms actually are our high dmg burst attacks.

mesmers not really have direct damage spells and the only burst damage we can provide comes from panthasms that cant be considered pets at all because they die in 1-3 hits and dissappear as soon as the target is dead.

Remove phantasms and the mesmer does 0 damage.

If you dont know the class mechanics dont QQ about it.

how is it even possible that a mesmer illusion is hitting the same dmg then some highest burst attack of other classes?

My Illusions are hitting for 0-4 dmg per hit.

Not sure if trolling or just plain stupid.

It`s not direct dmg that counts, It`s bleeding they apply. I have 57% crit chance and trait Sharper images (illusions inflict bleeding on crit hit). My clones apply vuln or bleed on hit plus one more bleed on crit (and they crit a lot), so if you have 3 clones out and Staff in your hands (with Sigil of Earth – 60% chance to apply 5 sec bleed on crit) it`s really easy to stack up more than 10 stacks of bleeds in only few seconds.

I know that because im playing nearly the same build. But thats defintely no burst damage and can easily be countered by removing conditions.

The way conditions work in this game, it can be pretty bursty. You also need to realize that “oh just remove conditions” is not by any means a viable solution for every class. As a Mesmer, you’re playing one of the classes which can have a lot of access to condition removal, but some others have a much harder time.

Stacked bleeding is in no way bursty but good sustained damage. Were not talking about burn or confusion that may become bursty. Point is the mesmer clones dont burst somebody down.

Anyway the clones can be easily countered by aoe.

Only the phantasms can pull out some burst damage because they are the mesmer burst skill.

If there are more then 1-2 mesmer in a game its just fu stupid and frustrating…

Pls give mesmer only one illusion make them strong not matter but pls reduce the number of them…

playing a mesmer as main myself, i would appreciate that. I instantly would take one strong illusion over 3 clones that get aoe nuked in 1 sec.
