so i went frame by frame through peachy’s video and got this screenshot of jaunt’s tooltip with the range barely visible.

400 seems… low. understandable, but….

That sounds so vague. Protective area can be anything. Is it going to be like Sanctuary that enemies cannot pass or more like a Symbol on the ground that gives protection?

Here’s the API for it.

It appears to be an edited form of sanctuary. 180 radius instead of 120 at first glance. Different healing numbers too, compared to normal sanctuary (which could also be changed, I don’t have enough experience to tell)

I dont understand the shield change. What does it mean?

The recharge on the Echo of Memory will not be active (tick down) while Déjà Vu is available to use.

Three consequences of this,
The longer you wait between EoM and Déjà Vu, the longer until EoM is next available.
Any phantasms shattered before Déjà Vu is used will not give the 1s CD drop on EoM from Persistane of Memory, since it is not on recharge.
Alacrity will not affect the recharge until Déjà Vu is used.

Am I reading this correctly, as in shield block will not go on recharge until the 2nd block is used? And not only does that already suck, PoM won’t affect it until then either?

If we’re talking damage reduction effects (you’re noting hitting for low damage, not getting invul/block/miss messages), it’s probably the phantasmal defender from Mental Defense.

inspiration will probably be kill, restorative illusions is the only reason we can survive in pvp right now, so it’ll be touched in some way. mental defense will probably get a shave of some sort as well.

i wouldn’t be surprised if they finangled with MtD again either

shield 4 will get some sort of reduction, probably by making deja vu worse then the initial block.

scepter will be buffed by some amount that no one really asked for or wanted, and it won’t make a difference to how it will be used.

the blind on pistol 5 will be changed to weakness

i’m too lazy to come up with anything else

going to add because queue times are too kitten long for primetime jeez

clarification on signet heal: you have persistence of memory, mental defense, and chronophant. a successful double shield proc will give you two avengers and a defender, shattering will give the same (unless illusionary reversion overwrites it, hell if i know, you have a kittenload of stuff is my point), so you’ll have roughly 12s off your phant cd’s just from that. shield block will be at roughly ~6s or so there, and warlock just doesn’t have a cd after that. the reset from the heal will never be important except in dreamed up scenarios. it has a 35s cd, 5s longer then the well, 10s longer then ether feast. if the plan was “well, i have clones up anyway”, ether feast works just as well for a better heal. my opinion on the passive is clear. ether at least gets you a better burst heal on a shorter cd, well gives you a little less but also some team support, condi cleanse, and sustain.

condi mes is a lot more effective when you’re actually fighting inside the node. 1v1ing dh’s is a pain in the kitten , yes, and your match wasn’t exactly suited for anything else (vs 3 dh is asking for pain), but you can’t just sit on a ledge all day, and you already have a thief who likes +1ing fights. on that note, while you attack from off point/away from the fight in general, you mostly use that time to auto in staff, use confusing images, or summon staff clones to run in for you. this can work in teamfights for a little bit of pressure, but against a dh comp, those clones will be cleaved before they hit anything. the phantasms summoned by shield in melee range will hit unless blocked if your quick, guaranteed. if you need to get out, you have double f4, a condi cleanse on your heal or your cheap shatters, phase retreat, and shield block.

2:20 ) you, necro, and thief went far, engi and ranger went home. no fight on home at all, they just doublecapped #sapphire. the thief pretty much ran the enemy thief off the point, so you and the necro contributed nothing for the first 30 seconds of the game. you also wasted decoy in fear of a thief backstab, but he was at like 1 health when he disengaged, the chances of him coming back round to hit a condi mes with a thief and a neco around is low.

3:00 ) you drop some stuff, necro with low health from being dh’d decides to suicide into the dh for some reason. you and thief res him casually, sip your coffee on the ledge, and then drop some aoes. low health enemy thief decides to try and steal your coffee, gets downed, enemy team pays respects by following. you res your thief, dodge backwards, and decoy from the sheer sight of the enemy teams respects. 3 people on mid now vs a bunch of dead people, nobody leaves until their dead, necro goes far, thief caps, and follows you home.

4:00 ) you go home (with thief behind), where engi and ranger are 2v1ing (now 4v1ing) a cleric ele. you chase after the ele, the thief does as well. mid gets decapped. if only there was some way for a player to move vast distances instantaneously to prevent this. thief downs ele while you return to mid, where the engi is fighting a dh. you skill click f5 to moa him, and like 50% of moas on dh’s, it gets blocked. you walk over his fence to take damage just to spite him, then backwards dodge-decoy into another trap which dazes you. you move off point, use signet of illusions to refresh your shatters (but don’t even use f4 before doing so), use f3 immediently to… clear cripple or something, idk, potato quality. you phase retreat off the node.

5:00 ) you f1 3 clones onto the dead dh from off point to try and kill to save your teammate. you then decide to stomp, and then forget you have f4 and get knocked back. luckily he dies from bleeding out. you move around a bit, and then full health decoy because the thief passed you, only to reveal yourself a second later by shattering.

5:00 ) you decide the blue node is a stupid place to be (it is), and decide to guard the home ledge from the incoming threat. another coffee break, and then a half hearted attempt to save your ranger. you random dodge backwards, decide to go down the valley, and decoy to drop target. 3 of your team go far, so you follow. home gets decapped. ranger tries to get to home to stop the decap, fails. you win your 4v2 (and weaponswap for it finally)

6:50 ) guardian with horseblinders nearly loses his point. you random dodge beside him, f2, then decoy for no reason, interrupt him dropping a trap, then walk into his trap. your thief goes down from trap spam, you revive, engi shows up. far gets decapped, engi returns there. you leave mid, thief caps mid.

7:30 ) worlds most obvious moa everyone. it’s a good thing he lived before he died of embarassment. you win the 2v1 with the ele, in the meanwhile, your team zerged far while leaving mid open to be capped. ranger comes with you to mid, i think the thief’s there too at some point. you moa the guardian 3v1 and win. you move to far, where there’s a downed fight. you start off by confusing the downed thief, while your thief actually goes and kills the dh who is alive and was going to res/stomp. then you drop chaos storm once they’re not actually a threat anymore, and proceed to 3v2 the dead bodies off point.

9:30) you move to mid, which just finished capping red, and then random dodge back to home. thief is capping far. home is a 2v1 right now, ele/dh vs your ranger. you use f3 (to interrupt the celestial avatar skill i guess), but your clones get cleaved down from the trap. you cast shield 5 and rng blesses you on the return position. ele goes down, you cleave while ranger mashes on the dh. dh hits you with true shot, you decide to decoy and shatter instantly for some reason. he dies just as the thief comes to +1 a 2v1.

10:30 ) omega beast goes on a rampage

10:45 ) you blink to get to far faster, you probably could have used two phase retreats to get there just as fast without blowing the cd. thief comes too because why not 10 points to personal score. you decide to play cameraman for a couple seconds, in case enemies come from your own spawn. you then move to mid.

11:20 ) omega beast goes on a rampage with thief support. you shield 5 a dead guy, walk into a fence, and then f3 the dead guy. once your not stunned anymore, you decoy since it’s off cd, and then autoattack/shatter/etc while you 3v1 the dh on point. it goes 3v2 for a moment, but then it’s okay because the necro shows up so it’s 4v2. you leave to go check home, which the ranger is already doing, while your low health thief and engi go down on the point. thief dies, engi dies, necro gets focused, you phase off point, decoy, and use your heal skill for the first time i think? necro dies, you run to your gate and then cut to far.

12:30 ) a dh follows you while you decap it. you fight him while also checking what your skills do. you leave the point just as your engi comes to help you, and he backoffs just as you get to mid. during this time duke nukem won’t shut the kitten up about your lord, which your respawning team manages to deal with. your engi dies on far, while your team capitalizes on the enemy team being dead by taking everything. game over.

build wise, you never use scepter at all really. idk why you even have it. if you want to run it over sword, feel free, but at least switch weapons more than 4 times in a game.

signet of the ether is really really bad here. at least use ether feast, or well of eternity. it does nothing for you. the passive heal is subpar at best, and only seems to work for you because you aren’t in melee range, ever, which is sadly something you have to be if you want to use your shatters well. maybe scepter is allowing you to do that, i don’t really know, but for the most part you’re walking out of fights alive because you weren’t really in them.

just get rid of decoy. you never used it once for the stunbreak, and you spent most of your time using it to drop imaginary targets. the amount of times your team left points to be decapped, you might as well slot in portal, even if you hate it.

Legend Queue Times

It’s even better when you note that this is during NA primetime. Mid-prestige 1 goes from 30m to 1hr30m during EU prime. All for blowouts most of the time. I understand there’s not as much variation for matchmaking as there is in ruby or diamond, but I’d rather wait 5-10 minutes for a blowout or a hard carry then an hour for a match that carries a large chance of being the same match.

.well at least you tried far better than most complainers in this thread.

“spamming 2-3 clone shatters” you meant you well managed to wasted all your damage skills and finally you could use moa 5-6 times in a match even we assume every moa success , you still need at least one teammate around you for the actual kill .
your mes playstyle looks more like a burden to me .

the usual cooldown of f5 is around 75-90s depending your fight .

Have you played PvP lately? Seriously? Condi mesmer is what 90% of ranked mesmer is right now. The build needs confusion/torment on shatter to output conditions. This means running illusions, and the most prevalent build, at least in NA diamond/legend, is Nero’s birdflu build, which, surprise, is about using your shatters offensively with Signet of Illusion to refresh them.

To even claim that F5 has a CD of 75s at minimum, when that is the reduced CD from running illusions, is ridiculous. I enjoy healthy debate about mesmer balance, but when the ardent defenders of the class don’t even know what’s being played right now, it makes all of the mesmer defenders look uninformed from a 3rd view point.

It´s a 50sec cd on your f5 with alacrity

50 seconds? I call hax! If you can prove it that moa can be cast so frquently with alacricity, I’m going to report you to anet to ban your account, because moa signet with trait is 144 seconds, 180 without. After the second cast for which the 90 sec F5 is needed you will have to wait out the full CD meaning it’s mathematically impossible to spam moa by 50 sec intervals consecutively. So get your facts straight before spouting blatant lies.

mesmer F5 cd is longer than 50 sec so stop lying

if you guys are gonna defend mesmer/moa, you should probably test stuff first before spouting out nonsense.

first moa cast should always be under the effects of f5. it is stupid not to do that. a second moa cast (using the actual cooldown) needs to be avoided unless you really have to to win a teamfight. (if 2nd moa is cast in a 1v1, what the hell were you trying to accomplish that you didn’t do in the first moa? a double moa anywhere outside of a teamfight is a horrible play).

this means the decent, repetitive moa has a cd equal to f5 in most cases. since illusions is pretty much guaranteed, this puts f5 at a cd of 76.5s. with the effects of alacrity, a rough guess at 50s isn’t unreasonable. under full effect constantly, it puts it at ~57s.

under the incredible,very well managed test of me spamming 2-3 clone shatters and using SoI (which is actually pretty close to mesmer gameplay right now) using the ranked queue as a timer, i got 63s of moa cd. (with no improved alac). using f5 out of comabt and then using mind wracks/cry of frustration of cooldown got me ~71s.

is that more than 50s? yeah. is it substantially less than 180s? yes. don’t be stupid.

This thread exemplifies the history of Mesmer in GW2:

  1. Mesmer is not meta in competitive play
  2. Mesmer has builds that steamroll bad players
  3. Bad players get steamrolled and come to the forums to whine about it
  4. Mesmer gets nerfed again
  5. Mesmer goes from not meta to garbage in competitive play

Here’s to hoping Anet ignores the baddies and doesn’t execute point 4.

Well if you look more at ESL matches… you will see more mesmers than the last week. Next week, you will see some more.

Pretty sure I responded to the reddit comment already, but just so its in both places, learn how to read. The note is talking about banner skills. There’s even a nerf example of turtle banner right under that.

They didn’t go “yeah, so, profession skills like mesmer’s F5 aren’t supposed to affect guild banners. On a side note, kitten mesmers, worst people in the game, I would burn their houses down if I could. They are just awful, and I don’t know why we have them. Wish we had Ritualists instead.”

The build is not changed, just the build’s ability on the node.

Which is what matters. Or so im inclined to believe.

Hey Reaper, nice to see you reached diamond. I am still trying to advance Ruby.

I still think the build is very good. I just suspect you cannot fire and forget for the well. You will have to put it on half the point, or walk in and out of it.

I am surprised to see so much complaining about being able to prevent new incoming damage, but losing a cap. Don’t prevent the damage then.
Cap still takes 4 secs to lose and the well lasts 3 seconds.

Just want to point out that the minor trait in inspiration that shares distortion does proc on well of precog now, and has a 300 radius effect around the mesmer. Even strategic placement will likely give allies 1s distortion and drop at least 1 tick from the cap.

Just a small note. Finished Nevermore tonight, noticed that the Legendary Collector achievement did not progress. Still at 3/4 despite 4 legendaries. (bolt, sunrise, flameseeker prophecies, and now nevermore).

the last time i tried it, a solo regular balli took ~45m to drop a basic wall

i don’t think it’s even possible anymore with the autoupgrade

Yeah yeah, I should have made it more clear that I meant stats other than total points..

What about total time spent on an actual point? Coupled with a basic kill/death ratio? If I could see the data of every match, I bet it would be pretty clear who was helping and who was hurting the team…

And bonus, MMR tankers would obviously not be eligible.

Technically, treb gives both points (10 per hit?), and has 3 different top stat catagories (top treb hits, most treb repairs, most treb’s destroyed). Similar issue on most maps (beasts on khylo, communes on temple, lord kills on foefire). With that system, you could see more “baddies” decide that a bad score means he should go commune a bunch of side buffs on temple, or rush beasts incessantly, etc.
If those were removed/discounted, maybe it would be okay? It adds complication to the system, which is one of those things ArenaNet seems to dislike. Same goes for k/d ratios and such, probably never going to happen for fear of toxicity.

Mesmer Nerf Train Never Ends

I have mixed feelings on well of precog being changed into distortion. It means nothing for PvE, for WvW it loses some value for holding caps for a few moments for zergs (which is usually a lost cause anyway), but gains value for moving past choke points (since knockback walls won’t be an issue anymore). For sPvP, people can say “oh it won’t decap after one use” or whatever, but I wouldn’t even bother running it then. If I’m going to bunker a point, I’ll play a bunker that won’t get stuck defending a point with 2 ticks left on it while being vulnerable to losing it due to a single knockback. I’d rather use another well or portal or probably our stupid half-rez utility before I’d risk a losing point contribution as a bunker. We’d pretty much be back to +1.

On the other hand, you have “theorycrafters” out there saying that blurred frenzy should be distortion too, or on-shatter traits need ICD’s, or that shield 4 (a block! a kittening block!) should prevent point contribution. In which case, I’d rather lose a well than my mesmer.

Illusionary Avenger Buff Priority

I keep forgetting to bring this up to [OMFG], so I’ll just post while I remember.

Has anyone else noticed that Avenger just loves buffing other clones/illusions while players are in range? I mostly notice this when I set multiple Avenger’s on gates (which is stupid as it is but eh that’s another issue), where they will continually set themselves on fire while a ram user two feet away has a 50/50 chance of getting alacrity (unless it’s myself, in which case works as intended).

If I’m not crazy and other people have noticed, I want to say this is a minion problem in general, related to the frost spirit prioritizing minion bug.

Weekly Favor Cap Reset

Is the reset for the weekly favor cap different from the reset for guild missions, and if so, why?

Our guild did most of our guild missions yesterday, and finished the last one today (medium race for 440). Our weekly cap should have been at 1980 between the two easy, one medium, one hard, and one pve slot, with +10% favor. Instead, now we’re sitting at 440 with 2 days left before the mission reset.

Without a doubt. Have you seen how potentially broken that rune set is? Stealth and super speed are no laughing matter.

oh it is one of, if not, the most broken dueling specs in the game right now. i’ve witnessed people i know of in wvw who switch regularly between the new “flavour of the month” ez build almost uniformly switch to either trapper thief or trapper ranger (and trapper guardian when the beta weekend was up).

but you might as well be ready to laugh at the inevitable new torrent of “permastealth op” posts, because that’s all this forum is gonna be now.

Cannot gain mastery points

So here’s my situation. I have a mastery rank of 2, with basic glider and mushroom functionallity. There is one mastery point on the map I can see/interact with (west of Faren’s Flyer WP), but channeling it does nothing – it doesn’t add to my total, and I can just keep rechanneling.

Every other mastery point doesn’t exist on the map. I’ve gone to several locations where they were in the past, and there’s none. What do.

Chronomancer changes

So looking at the trait list on the wiki, I see two notable things I haven’t seen brought up.

Lost Time now is 2s Slow every 5 critical hits+1hit, changed from 2s every 3 critical.

Chronophantasma now dazes the resummoned phantasms for 1s on summon.

Odd bagslot/material collection behavior

Just something I noticed while liquidating my bank.

Bags 1->6 are full.

Bag 7 (Starter Backpack) and bag 8 (Ancient Karka Shell Box) are empty. Neither bag has any modifier to my knowledge.

Doubleclicking on items in the material storage will deposit them into bag 8.
Doubleclicking on items in the bank will deposit them into bag 7.
If bag 8 is full, items cannot be taken out of material storage by doubleclicking, only dragging.

Switching bag 7 and bag 8’s positions in the inventory does not change the behavior.

Golem Rush Event Bugs [merged]

So in the first few minutes trying this out, my guild has already found some bugs.

1. Golems can be duplicated again, by having two people spam enter them with one leaving.

2. The supercharge buff can be placed on a character without a golem via 1). Speed buff and damage buff still applies. For reference, my mesmer staff 1 autos were doing ~2.5k per hit.

3. At one point I ended up with 54 supply somehow? Not sure how that happened.

17% isn’t going to make me stop running doduch. But I don’t see the reasoning behind the dampening of the damp. It felt like it wasn’t enough before.

getting it on nsp/mag/sbi again. couple times just while wandering, couple where all enemies/npcs will disappear a moment before instakill. had npcs disappear and insta kill at eb spawn while i was trying to merch.

Similar experiences from NSP. Party member had a zerg disappear from his view and got killed by them with no combat log entries, they stayed visible to myself. He also had his trident stay equipped on land (and was visible to me as well), with no skill bar present until map change.

Personally, I took fall damage in the middle of green eb spawn, and then got teleported to CD BL along with the map commander.

If SoI gets used before F5: SoI won’t be included in the refreshed skills, as it was not used in the active period.
If SoI gets used during F5 period: It will be reset, but F5 will not be on cooldown when it is cast, as it will be set to the return skill.
If SoI gets used after F5 period: F5 will be refreshed, but then this returns back to the before F5 scenario.

At most, this gives you F5 refreshed once, assuming that F5 cannot be refreshed until it has reverted back to the 1st skill in it’s chain.

Remember the New Player Experience? Only new characters had to suffer through it. You’ll probably only have to unlock the stuff for the new elite specialization. You could probably just do hero points in starter maps and be done with the entire thing in a half hour.

These are some bold design changes. On paper I like the ideas but have concern for existing builds.

Note there is a 4 hour ready-up episode scheduled for tomorrow where each profession will get a block of discussion time. Anet will also be fielding many questions. You can post them here.

Biggest concern … will Deceptive Evasion be made baseline? It’s included in almost all Mesmer builds and I’d argue just as important as the cooldowns on Elementalist attunement swapping.

Doubt it. As much as that would be great for WvW/PvP, it creates scenarios in PvE where keeping 3 phantasms up and dodging are mutual exclusives. And they’re already strained as I understand, as this update won’t fix the eternal trait management mesmer dungeon runners have.

"Throw Chain"

Not a thief main, but just curious. I was picking off a zerg south of Garrison earlier today, and hit Steal off some poor fellow underwater, and got a “Throw Chain” skill off of him. The wiki has no information on this I can find (it’s not in the list of stolen skills at all), and it’s obviously not one of the typical player profession skills. It seemed to function like a weaker Throw Bolas, but I didn’t pay attention to it at the time to take a screenshot.

Has anyone seen it before? Is it possible there are underwater stolen skills that are undocumented?
