I agree, I’ve been taken down a split second after activating heals that would have kept me from going down. I have also had it happen with Mist Form where I’m suposed to be immune to damage but it still hits because the Mist Form hasn’t taken effect yet… but it still acts as though I used it and I have to wait for it to reset to use it again. (I know because I’ve rallied right afterwards.)
I’d love to see fishing in the game. I’ve always loved fishing in the MMOs that have it. I am a bit concerned about how healthy it is to eat the fish from some of the waters in the game though.
It’s still FotM… but it’s Flavor of the Month. People will be board with it very quickly as has been seen already.
I’m not using a 3rd party website and potentialy getting viruses just to get a group.
I’m not saying that website is a “bad” website, just that it’s not official and a potential security risk.
What…are you talking about? You realize that you can go back and play any fractal difficulty you’ve already completed, right?
Not having ever been the leader (or entering first) of a fractal group, no, i didn’t know that, it doesn’t tell me anywhere. Unlike Dungeons it doesn’t give a vote for what level to do it just asks if you are ready.
That said, finding a group that WANTS to do lower level fractals will probly take longer then most players would want. Its alreayd hard enough to find a group as it is.
I can agree with both of these.
Remove WvW from the Monthly
AND
Don’t continue to have Fractals in the Monthly.
Fractals being the worse of the two and this is why:
Fractals keep getting harder the more you play them.
7 Fractals = gain 2 full fractal levels, possibly 3 because who is going to want to only do one fractal and stop?
This means Month 1 you end at Fractal Level 3, this month we will end at 6, next time 9, and so on until it hits an unreasonably difficult level for those who arn’t getting the agony resistance gear.
Yes, you could stay at level 1 by doing 2 and quitting, good luck finding groups after doing that a few times though.
If there was a way to either reset or select your fractal level it would be a bit more reasonable of a monthly requirement.
I like the idea of making 7 runs in any dungon a requirement instead.
On a side note, I do find WvW fun some times, but I find I would be just as effective as a level 1 as a level 80 and class doesn’t matter…. this is because I suck at “normal” pvp and tend to operate siege weapons instead. Thats where I got most of my kills for the montly last month, build a treb and took out a towers walls with the defenders on them.
Two things.
First, wrong board, this one is for website bugs and issues.
Second, assuming you moved servers and did not delete the guild first, you can move back to the original server and all items will be in the bank. All guild upgrades purchased remain on the server they were purchased on. Likewise, all influence earned on a server stays on that server.
Um, I’ve bought gems with my Credit Card, it’s beem a month since the last time though, did they change it?
Yah, I’m with Kumu, I’d say it’s all of them. If you don’t understand why people would find them offensive, then you need to grow up.
Try picking REAL names.
Formed A Guild And Now Lost Access To It...

If you “Left” your old guild and you were the only member, then you just Deleted the guild. HOWEVER, if you Joined a new guild while still a member of your old guild you are now a member of Both guilds and just need to represent the one you want to.
You may be a member of up to 4 different guilds at a time.
Guilds are Account Wide. If you are a member on one character, you are a member on all, if you quit with one, you quit with all.
Different characters can be representing different guilds and that state save for the individual character.
Slavery is wrong, stop offering to buy Babies, even of they are only semi-sentient :P

SHINY!!!
From reading this, I’d say I must have been the luckiest schmuck to run the Swamp. I don’t think I ran into a single trap transporting a wisp, no real “wall” issues at all. I also ran the one that was furthest from the drop points. Quite frankly, I didn’t know there were any traps in there. Didn’t understand why people were so worried about getting the wisp there on time, seemed like plenty of time to me.
Now, hearing how there are traps in there, and apparently walls that change location? I guess there is some challeng to it I just some how didn’t notice.
Have you noticed how people have been complaining about a Gear Treadmill that ANet said they wanted to Avoid? Ascended gear is a new tier of gear that is suposed to be between Exotic and Ledgendary. Ledgendary gear has always been intended to be the highest end gear in the game. Currently only Ledgendary weapons are available but eventualy they plan to implement other Ledgendary equipment pieces.
If they didn’t buff up the stats on Ledgendary Weapons with the addition of Ascended gear, then the Ledgendary Weapon’s wouldn’t be the best, and as I just stated, Ledgendary gear is suposed to be the best.
The Ledgendary weapons arn’t so much being Auto Leveled as they are recieveing a buff to make them better then the new tier that is suposed to be weaker then them.
The Website and Forums only keeps me logged in if I don’t close IE.
Same thing happens in Chrome.
Why is there no way to stay logged in to the forums?
I was thinking, don’t remove Transmutation Stones, but instead make them have uses. First use, save a skin. Second use, apply a saved skin to an item.
Alternatly, have a new item that saves the skin, and Transmutation stones apply skins.
My personal Idea isn’t to run the event twice, but to run it like the Personal Story but with a time frame for when you can do it. (Preferably a minimum of a week.) Only give the big rewards for completing it the first time, but give something to those helping others who hadn’t done it before.
Well, here is my feedback.
Phase 1: Friday… I had to work, working gets me money so I can pay rent and utilities so I can play games.
Phase 2: I was there… too bad the Event in LA wasn’t on my Overflow server. I Did get in on the “Discovery” part of the new zone, but it wasn’t much more then a giant zerg running round the zone.
Phase 3: Decided it wasn’t worth logging in for. Then I found out they gave out massive loot.
To Sum it up: Big Dissapointment
How to make “One Time” events better: Run them like Personal Story quests. Only give the “big” rewards to those completing it the first time, but give something to those helping others who hadn’t done it. Leave these available for a while so people can start them when they actualy have time.
True, this means some people will have spoilers and might not enjoy it “As Much” as if they didn’t know what was going to happen, but guess what? If they didn’t get to attend then they didn’t enjoy it at all!
Figures, I skipped the event today because I was so dissapointed in Yesterdays little problem with Overflows not even getting the event.
As the title says, there seems to be too much focus in most dungones on increasing the amount of Damage mobs both deal, and can take. Fractals seem to be quite fun and challenging and IMO would still be just as fun and challenging without the mobs dealing so much damage.
I would ask that the damage mobs do be reduced. (Environmental damage, including verious traps seem mostly ok and generaly avoidable with tactics.) In addition, allow us to reset our Fractal level or perhaps choose our “Maximum” fractal level so when we inevitably reach the peak of what each individual conciders still “Fun” we can stop increasing the difficulty via damage so it doest get to the point of not wanting to do them anymore.
Over all, the design of the individual Fractals is interesting and a definate step in the right direction IMO. Please challenge us more with Tactics and Puzzles rather then increasing damage (both how much the mobs take and what they deal.)
I see Fractals as a good way to add new mini-dungoens on a regular basis.
Yes, I know there are plenty out there who say Dungeons are too easy. These are mostly people dedicated to doing almost nothing but Dungeons. To this I say, fine, they are too easy, FOR YOU. Would you realy say reducing the amount of damage would make them too much easier? Would increasing the amount of damage the mobs deal and can take really be the way you want them to be made harder?
On a side note, isn’t a “Vetren Novice” an oxymoron?
I did this one today. It was easy. We failed with the wisps twice, third time we were good. Oh, and I was one of the Runners and didn’t have any serious problem with walls.
By far the Swamp was the easiest fractal I’ve done. (I’ll admit, I’ve only successfully completed 4 different ones. Asura, Collossus, Swamp and Fire Grawl)
It does help to know at least aproximatly what you need to do either going in, or if some one could tell you as you go along.
Ouch, well, that sucks. What you are saying is the more I do, the more likely it is I will hit a wall I can’t pass because either I’m not good enough, or my gear isn’t good enough because of the whole Agony thing.
What If I want to stick to lower Fractal levels? I have to group with at least one person with a low enough Fractal level?
Don’t pug. Seriously everytime I pug I end up regretting it, and that’s not even in fotm.
I did an AC explorable, path 2 yesterday with some pugs.
We had a necro that died nonstop. He was dead more than he was alive. A warrior who was just completely useless. An elementalist who was “staff only” (as in, useless) and a mesmer who was decent.
It took us forever to do that dungeon simply because they just kept dying, over and over and over again. And this is the easy path in an easy dungeon.
Realy? Staff only Ele’s are useless? Are you sure? Because I did the level 1 fractales with a guild group and didn’t die once. Guess what? I’m a Staff Only Ele. I’m fairly certain my group wouldn’t say I was useless in there or dead weight. I certainly didn’t hide either. Frequently I had the bosses chacing me because I did too much damage to them and they got all pissed at me for it :P
The probem I see with all of ANet’s dungeons is they focus too much on doing more damage to make it more challenging. That tends to be a bad thing for inatly squishy classes like Ele’s. It forces us to use Vit/Toughness gear to survive. If we HAVE to use those stats on gear, why bother making gear without it?
For the OP, It’s not that hard to find a good guild fully capable of running dungeons. There are plenty already dedicated to them. Mind you, I’d never join one of them, I join guilds for Community, not to find “Elite” players to group with. My only guess is, they don’t want you, be it your attitude, lack of skill on your part, or whatever. Oh, and you didn’t say how you “know” they were lying to you about their gear and how to play their class. Perhaps they do have Exotic Gear and know how to play there class but arn’t as good at dungeons (totaly different then sPvP, WvW and world PvE)
The problem you seem to be saying you are having has nothing to do with the Dungeon and more to do with Players concidering you are complaining about the Players not the Dungeon Mechanics. That being the case, Fractals arn’t a Failier, your groups are.
That being said, I would like to see the lower level fractlas be easier, room enough for higher difficulty at higher Fractal Levels.
I would recomend he finds a guild that is accepting of the restrictions imposed by his disability.
Hopefully in the future Vent will come out with a Voice to Text feature to allow him to participate a bit more.
As a workaround, you could try setting up a second system and routing Vent’s output to that systems input and running existing Voice to Text software such as Dragon. Not sure if the sound quality is good enough that way, and it won’t work with people talking over each other, but it might help some.
In the mean time, he is welcome to apply to Kindred Spirits http://www.ksguild.org
We are a multi-game community. We do not discriminate against those with disabilities. We may ask people to at least listen to vent, but we don’t require it, especialy if it isn’t possible.
Oh, we are on the Tarnished Coast server, but are not an RP guild (RPing is fine, but we don’t require it at any level.)
Last night my group tried the Collossus, we got to the top where you need to break the chain. The problem here seems to be too many Vet mobs, must find a Non-vent to kill with the hammer while avoiding the attacks of all the Vets in order to get the Hammer’s Skill 4 to appear. We “might” have done better had our 5th not disconnected and we had to try and 4 man it. Eventualy we gave up.
I also had a serious problem with getting tossed in the cages constantly. Breaking out required me using Lava Font 3 times before it broke open the door. (Auto attack couldn’t hit the door, had to use AOE)
edit: How can a Novice be a Vetren?
All I can say to this thread is this.
Isn’t “Shines” from EQ???…don’t remember lol
EQ2 actualy. Shinies were what players called the collectables that could be found laying on the ground. You “found” them by seeing a shiny animation on the ground and picking it up. (Even grubbs were shiny apparently.)
I love all the random refrences in this game.
Maybe this is just somebody who has no experience in programming talking, but it seems to me that making the color different across different armor types would take just as much coding as making it the same across different armors. Afterall, they have to code in all the colors a line at a time, don’t they?
And even if this isn’t the case (as I said, no programming experience, so I’m just assuming), it’s something that I feel Anet should consider looking at in the future, when they start looking into quality-of-life adjustments.
Considering the main theme of this game is “aesthetics over power,” it seems to me that it be important to make it as easy as possible for players to get the look they want.
The devs would not be coding the appearence of a color on a piece of armor. Instead, each dye has a set color code. ( 255,255,255 is black I think, or is it white… I forget it has been a while.)
The color is then passed to the rendering engine wich applies the color to the texture which can then modifiy the actual appearence of the color depending on the material the texture is emulating. (Leather, Metal, Cloth)
So, the only way to get what you seem to be asking for is to stop using material based textures which I personaly don’t want to see them do.
i hear ya OP, especially when it comes to my exalted set. it took me a lot of tries to find somethign that would appear dark on certain dye slots(collar in particular). i mean even midnight dyes show up as very pale shades.
Solution, dont use the Midnight dyes, use an actual Black or Abyss dye if you want black. Midnight Fire for example is a very very dark Red dye, not black, so on some pieces of armor the Red will be more apparent then others.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t actualy “Want” Vit or Toughness, unfortunatly the way the game is, you “Need” Vit and/or Toughness to survive.
Why any gear exists that doesn’t have at least one of the two I don’t know. Perhaps to distract you from the fact the game forces you to have at least one of them to survive?
Why don’t they post the patch notes ahead of time….
Back in EQ, I tested out some changes on their test server. I did Pottery and found out that Pie Tin Molds had a serious increase in cost, enough so that if I bought them at the current Live price, I would make a substantial proffit vendoring them after the patch that increased their value even though the vendors always buy under the “normal” purchase price.
True, that wasn’t in the patch notes, but imagine it was, everyone would have filled their inventories with pie tin molds, waited for the patch, then sold them all. This would cause major inflation in the game. (I now feel bad about doing it and if I saw the same kind of thing comming I probably wouldn’t take advantage of it now.)
Now, I can see them posting a mini-patch notes containing only information on blocking bugs that will be fixed but containing no information with potential to be exploited. Possibly even allow information about how a character class might get some ballencing in the next patch, but some things must not be known before the patch.
Economy related changes (and there are alot of things that are related to the Economy, thats why it is so hard to manage) need to stay out of any advance patch notes.
It doesn’t matter if it’s Puke green and I’ll never use it… I’ll still want to collect it.
Hello, I’m Drake Brimstone and I’m a Dye-Aholic Its been 5 days since I last bought an Unidintified dye… oh wait, I looted one, better call my sponsor.
It’s called “Magic” :P……
Not sure what side your on, but I was for Condition damage hitting objects. I was only trying to point out that a “realism” debate for why we can’t use condition dmg on objects is utterly pointless, because the game itself has no basis in it.
And if someone does use “magic” as a point, that is itself null because “magic” has no real property. I can easily say I can burn/bleed rocks by using “magic” the same way a ranger never has to feed his pet, or we never had to buy bullets/arrows to our ranged weapons.
You could say I was on your side. Magic has no basis in reality either, well Ok, some basis, but not to the extent we use it in a Fantacy game.
I can see how the level 80 Fully Elite geared and spect for dungeons characters might see dungeons as too easy. The problem is, not everyone is Fully Elite geared and wants to be a copy paste character.
I would agree, for those who put all their focus on Dungeons and not caring about being just another copy of everyone else of your class, there needs to be tougher dungeons. But the “Base” dungeon difficulty needs to be either toned down, or re-designed to accomidate players of different builds and leveled and equiped for the “required” level for the dungeon. (If explorable dungeons were “end game” content the level requirement would be level 80)
They will probably nerf Dungeons because of players like this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeons-way-overpowered/first
Everytime I post in his threads he reports me and Anet bans my account for a few days. I guess you can get banned now a days just by saying he needs to learn how to play his class and learn how dungeons work. Like all the other whinners, he is a WoW type of dungeon player and those types of players can’t understand GW2 Dungeon concepts. So ya, since devs on these forums seem to be ban happy, dont post anything he doesnt like in his thread for you will get banned for 5 days.
Dungeons ARE overpowered, If it “Requires” level 80, exotic gear and SPECIFIC builds for at least some of the classes, then it needs re-thought.
I know how to play my character, the problem is I don’t want to play it D/D with all Vit/Toughness gear with most my traits going to Earth and Water. That locks me down to one small subset of what the class is capable of.
You were reported for being insulting and non-constuctive in that thread. You were the only one in the thread reported repeatedly, and it was for near identical posts of L2P with no actual constructive feedback.
I hated WoW because there too, they forced you into specific roles, and if you didn’t fit the build they wanted, and have a minimal “gear score”, they wouldn’t let you in.
Shuguard, you do know that Mad King Candy is made from baby Quaggan right?
If you are going to do a write in then elect Zojja
Does not work for me. What I ended up doing was changing the #2 to #1 for the page number and it worked. But your suggestion did not work as the browser just pulled the original info into the link with it. I even just cut and pasted the part I wanted but it still chose #2 which is where it bugs out.
This is exactly the fix I use. It generaly occurses when the numbe of posts hits the mid to 40’s and resolves itself at post 50-51. May repeat when getting close to the point for a 3rd page and so on.
I have no problems with underwater combat as an Elementalist. The trick there is, you are in Water, Attune to Water = You are God. We do massive damage in Water attunement while underwater. We have an extra evasion skill (You can still dodge underwater btw) and our #5 ability shreads a line of enemies. Oh, and our Elite Whirlwind ability? It becomes Whirlpool, even after they nerfed it’s damage it is still able to take out large groups of mobs quickly just by moving near them.
Nope, its always the size of the BASE size for the ability. Meteor Shower has a much larger circle (and base area of effect) then Lava Font.
Iv’e seen two typs of Stun, one is a Condtion, one is Not.
I can’t stay put when fighting “trash mobs” for the same reason it doesn’t matter of Toughness is an agro magnet. I’m an Ele, I agro everything just by existing. All my auto attacks agro everything in the area weather I want to or not except Earth, I’m not sure if the Staff Earth 1 ability agros everything. Fire is a An AOE centered on the target, Air hits secondary targets near the primary target with “arcs” Water heals all nearbuy allies, and healing means agroing anything that has those allies on their “list.” Yes, I supose I could sit in earth for trash mobs so they don’t ALL agro on me at once, but that takes too long. Better to accept the fact I’ll be taking all the agro, run around dropping fire fields while everyone else might be able to stand around chatting.
Dungeons however, are not just a problem for Elementalists, I just can’t speak for any other classes.
On a funny side note, I’ve heard of a group of all Mesmers who cake walked a dungeon… well I supose if you take a group of 30 into a dungon you are bound to win.
How about this, why don’t you tell me what Gear and Traits that are “easily obtainable” gets an Ele 15k HP? (All costs must be less then 2 Gold)
At lvl 80 your base health is 10805, so you just need 420 additional Vitality to reach 15k HP.
Take invader weapons – those you get for Badges of Honor – to get your first 128 Vit, so you only need 292 more to reach your goal.
Guess I should have mentioned no PvP?
Next pick one of the following armor sets (just examples, there are more out there with different stat combinations)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Durmand_Priory_armor
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vigil_armor
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aurora_armor_of_Melandru
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Whispering_armor_of_Infiltration
or craft your own items with http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Valkyrie_Intricate_Gossamer_Insignia
and use one of http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rune#Vitality as runes if you still don’t
have enough Vit.
Many of those runes cost over a gold each, needing 5 of them minimum to complete the Vit portion of the bonuses.
Finally spend your trait points in Water and/or Earth.
Wolla, every item is below 2 gold or an equally hard to obtain amount of karma/badges. Of course, you can’t go full DPS with gear and traits like that, but you also don’t need to since GW2 is not about DPS, not at all.
The Average Player is:
First time in AC Story (It is the First dungeon)
Casual Dungeon Runner (1-2 a week, perhaps a few more on weekends)
Not an absolute Expert in their class
Not “perfectly” spec’d
Rare Armor at best
Not a Tactical Genious
Not using Voice Chat
Not capable of mid fight chattingNo, not even close, not at all.
The average player
- has done Story Mode before
- might not have finished a dungeon yet but has seen it before
- probably only does one dungeon each second day
- wears a combination of rares and exotics, sometimes a few masterworks but most definitively no fine items
Basicly what I was saying, not sure why you say not even close about this part, though having exotics, that’s expensive, and getting to the vendors that sell the Karma versions, that needs a group I havn’t gotten together yet.
- is not a tactical genius but understands mechanics once they have been explained to him and would be able to figure out solutions on his own if he could spend more time playing the game
- doesn’t own a teamspeak server but has a headset or is at least willing to join your TS and to listen to your commands
- is capable of mid fight chatting while fighting trash packs
No, the average player doesn’t do Voice Chat, true some might be willing to log in to a Voice Chat server to listen but a headset is not cheap. (I have one, I use one, but not everyone else does, I also don’t like logging in to “random” Voice Chat servers.)
No, typing in chat while trying to do combat is not within the Average players skillset, this causes a pause in their attacks AND Dodging. What people seem to be calling Trash Mobs are so buffed up as to be like fighting a group of Vets or worse.
On a side note, I just spent about a gold (all my money) on those Superior Runes of the Ice, thanks for pointing me to those, though now I’m broke. Won’t be trying any dungeons till I have money for repairs again.
Alternatly, any weapons using the Slot Skill “Glyph of Storms” while attuned to Fire. Aslo the #5 skill while weilding the conjured weapon “Conjure Fiery Greatsword”
Guesting is not implemented yet.
Wasabi, yes, it is average, average is not “Average player who does dungeons all the time” That would be a subset of players, I’m talking about Average Players from accross the spectrum.
LOL, entry level programming error, arrays are base 0, not base 1.
As a reference to help people
Alternatly, use the Quote tags while copy+pasting the text to be quoted.
Example
{quote=name:}Copied Text to quote{/quote}
replacing the {} with square brackets is
name:Copied Text to quote
True it does not link the post, and you CAN get it to link if you can get the Post ID (it is the numbers at the end of the link if you just over the mouse over the permalink icon)
so
{quote=626247;name:}Copied Text to quote{/quote}
replacing the {} with square brackets is
Copied Text to quote
links to the mod’s post above
When there are between about 40 and 50 posts in a thread it sometimes attempts to put you on Page 2 when there is only 1 page. Take that link, change the /2#post634409 to /1#post634409 and you will see the posts.
I actualy came to this board speciricly to report this bug.
A minimum of 15k HP is easily obtainable for Eles
How about this, why don’t you tell me what Gear and Traits that are “easily obtainable” gets an Ele 15k HP? (All costs must be less then 2 Gold)
As a reminder to help people stay on Topic, and away from “You are Just Bad”
This is about how the Dungeons are over powered for AVERAGE players.
If you change your spec specificly for a Dungeon you are not Average
If you select gear specificly for dungeons, you are not Average
If you are a level 80 running lower level dungeons (Yes I know you are Downleveled) You are not average (You have more trait points then is “expected” for that level.)
If you “Run them all the time” you are not Average
If you have the “perfect” group for the dungeon, you are DEFINATLY not Average.
The Average Player is:
First time in AC Story (It is the First dungeon)
Casual Dungeon Runner (1-2 a week, perhaps a few more on weekends)
Not an absolute Expert in their class
Not “perfectly” spec’d
Rare Armor at best
Not a Tactical Genious
Not using Voice Chat
Not capable of mid fight chatting
Hope that helps.
The whole point of a challenge is to work at it to get good. It sounds like you are giving up at it before you even try. This happened with the Mad King clock tower & seems to be a trend in MMOs. THINK about why you are dying & adjust. Don’t just zerg rush from waypoints.
I completed the clock tower. It didn’t have over powered mobs in it wiping everyone.
No dungeon has overpowered mobs in it, especially not the once you initially complained about. Some mob packs and encounters are a little tougher than others, but everything is doable by casuals. I might sound like a broken record – does this idiom work in English? – but I do dungeons with casual PuGs every day and once I told them what will happen and how they should respond to it there is absolutely no problem. Of course, I sort out, I won’t bring a 11k HP Ele or a melee only Thief to Lupi but who the hell cares about those idiots?
No offense and excuse my french, but threads like this really start to piss me off.
Three are plenty of Over Powered Mobs in the Dungones I mentioned. Especialy when they are in linked groups that then call more linked groups to aid them.
Btw, the origin of “sounding like a Broken Record” is Amarican (aka English language)
Also sounds like you are not “casual” if you are requiring “elitisms” like minimal HP for an Ele, which is actualy praticly defigning what they have to have for gear/specs.
