Hello adventurers!
The Explorers League is a new guild, but starting strong! In just about a weeks time we rounded up 30+ GW2 players into the ranks, and with the help of a few “Drinks for the ____” influence purchases, we have acquired several upgrades and will soon unlock a ton more in the next couple of weeks!
EXL activities could be ranged at 70/30 (PVE/PVPWVW) guild. WVW is a lot of fun and I hope to run it and some fun PVP matches together weekly. We will definitely take advantage of the awesome events to Living Story as well as Dungeon runs, Boss Hunting, Jumping Puzzles, Guild Activities and anything else that strikes us as interesting when we’re on together.
EXL is new player friendly and quite a few of our members are either returning from a few months departure, making new characters or completely new to the game. (I tricked them into coming to GW2. Shhh~)
However that does not mean we at EXL are lacking in experience. Some of us have been playing the majority of the first year in Guild Wars 2 and are quite knowledgeable about the games mechanics and lore.
For a closer look at [EXL] check out our new Facebook Page @ https://www.facebook.com/TheExplorersLeagueOnline
Looking for an invite? Just send “Draven Pierce” a piece of mail in game and you’ll be invited to the guild soon after
See you in Tyria!
I could be wrong, but I think these buffs to the other bosses like SB, are just minor advancements while ANet may be working on bigger improvements, similar to but not as big as we saw with Teq.
At least that’s what I’m hoping for. Increasing health is all good and fine, but I’d rather see Shatterer, Behemoth and even Fire Elemental, punishing lazy/unskilled players for standing around, auto attacking.
Bring it on ANet! Epic Fights + Epic Loot = Epic Gaming!
I LOVE IT! Just watched everyone get smashed. Mostly people are standing right under Teqs foot or nearby and get destroyed. lol
Dodging and general situational awareness is going to make or break you no the front lines. As for the gunners, all I can say is I hope they get better at doing what they need to do. The fight seems impossible without their cooperation fully.
Failure never felt so good. Thank you ANet for finally buffing Teq! Dragons should be kicking our asses! Tons of fun!
I don’t miss the trinity at all.
Gear wars 2 ,Farm wars 2 , Grindwars 2.All of those is what gw2 has become instead of actually having guild wars.A tittle that doesn’t even relate to their game in anyway….
I like Grind Wars 2 the best. Its most fitting
Even the grindosaurs are complaining about time gating and not about collection of the mats.
Make a new character and play from 1 to 80. Can you make ascended gear when you turn 80? No.
How far are you from full exotics? Not far.
How far are you from full ascended? Months. Not even counting the armors to come.
Now tell me this game isn’t about grinding for gear.
It’s not about grinding gear. Unless you’re a gear kitten :P
everyone should craft his kitten to 500, it is confirmed bi Colin at PAX that precursors will be adressed this year, most likely by crafting.
mats are time gated an you don’t want to have to w8 behind stupid time gates once precursor crafting/hunt will be released.
my suggestion is to craft at least a discipline to 450, so you can start stocking ascended mats.
my opinion is that if pre will be craftable they will likely requre an ascended version as a base component + several other stuff.
so just stock on time gated mats, don’t craft your ascended yet since no need to if you don’t do fractals.
ofc ther’s a chance they will requre a whole new set of mats, then you’ll have mats to get whaterver ascended weap you need.cheers!
Crafting won’t be the only new way to acquire precursors so no need to rush to crafting people. There will be other ways.
Lots to do besides chase Legendaries and Ascended gear. Too many materialistic players concentrating on gear when gear in GW2 is such a side event compared to other MMORPGs.
Can’t believe people are STILL kittening about grind in GW2. Since November this topic has been run into the ground and beat hundreds of times to death and here we are….September of the next year and you STILL keep complaining.
If ANet really felt they were wrong the way you insist they are, they wouldn’t continue with what they’re doing, including Ascended gear. Seriously. Get over it.
“you don’t need ascended to play the game”
Troll thread. Merge or lock plz.
Disagree. The new content system and pace is great. Don’t even need 2 weeks to complete the stuff anyway. I got all the fights for my Mini Liadri done in a single day. And I was relieved the invasions finished. Maybe with SAB more than likely not being as exciting, we’ll see people return to normal content around Tyria.
If you’re a skilled player, you don’t need Ascended gear. Period.
It happens all the time in just about every MMORPG out there. Many players would rather spend 20 dollars and have the gold they need rather than farm the next couple of months to afford and obtain the item they want asap.
And that’s where we are with Precursors and other ultra scarce items in Guild Wars 2. I may be wrong in the RMT actual influence of the market here. Maybe they have no influence or control over scarce items. But at the very least, prices for these items has risen to insane heights because of ultra scarcity and players are already buying tons of gold from RMT companies which is causing a large amount of inflation in the games economy.
Precursors and other ultra scarce materials used to create legendary weapons need to be made available by some other means, and generally speaking need to be acquirable in more ways in Guild Wars 2.
I know you’re already working on Precursors and some new system to make them available besides through sheer luck or being filthy rich. That’s great. But please understand it’s not just precursors. Almost everything of significant importance or value to players, needs to be obtainable in more ways than a rare chance drop or on the Trading Post.
Ideally, almost everything players really want should be obtainable not by purchasing it with gold, but through moderate to heavy amounts of effort in game.
Dungeon armor is a good example of player effort rewarded with awesome items. Fractals as well. Through effort, not gold, players earn items.
Precursors for example could obtainable once a player has completed all dungeons and spends X number of achievement points and/or Laurels. That’s just a quick idea that came to mind.
For other items like ancient bones and other crafting materials, increase the drop rate that makes it not super easy, but easier than it currently is. More supply of these items will quickly drop the value/price of these items on the Trading post.
The result should be that Legendary gear is still hard to get. It will still take a lot of time, effort, but not seem unreasonable to most players. Then they’ll get it themselves the right way instead of resorting to purchasing gold from websites.
-phew- This turned from a simple “Thanks ANet!” thread into quite possibly the longest thread I’ve ever written on a gaming forum. I guess I needed to get these things out. What good is that after all to hold in these words of positivity and constructive criticism. If there’s even a chance that these words may influence the game or it’s community into a better direction, then it’s worth the time and effort to type this out I think.
Again, thanks ANet and everyone that’s had a hand in making Guild Wars 2. Happy 1 Year Anniversary! The futures so bright I gotta wear shades!
Hopefully you’ve read this far. I’ve got two more things to talk about and though I write them here last, are probably above all other suggestions for GW2.
Cantha. You’ve seen the reaction here on the forums and perhaps around other parts of the internet. The importancy of Cantha making some kind of return here in GW2 is paramount. Be it added literally or through time travel, I think most of us don’t care as long as someway, somehow, we can have it here in Guild Wars 2. In fact, maybe time travel in general I think is a good idea for Guild Wars 2. It could not only take us back to Guild Wars 1, but also important events before Guild Wars 1 timeline.
Precursors and other ultra scarce items in Guild Wars 2.
Before any of you get the wrong idea, this isn’t about, I repeat, NOT about wanting or getting easier access to Legendary gear. In fact, I think legendaries should take even hardcore players months of effort to get. The thing that has ruined other MMORPGs in the past and is already hurting Guild Wars 2 is the existence of ultra scarce, high demand items.
I wrote a thread about this some months back that was largely ignored or dismissed by many players simply because they didn’t see or understand it as a threat or priority to Guild Wars 2.
Ultra scarce, hard to obtain, and highly desired items like precursors and crafting materials are an open door for Real Money Trading companies, aka “gold farmers” to manipulate the market.
It’s no secret that there are a lot of gamers out there with disposable incomes and have absolutely no reservations about purchasing gold and items from 3rd party companies from their websites.
It wouldn’t be an issue if it didn’t affect other players, but that’s the point. It does. And in a big way. The more trading like this occurs, the more RMT companies become interested and the quicker the destruction of the in-game economy unfolds.
Many MMORPG economies are anywhere from heavily influenced by if not completely controlled by these “gold farmers” and the companies they work for.
But what does this have to do with Precursors and other ultra scarce items? Well let’s use “ancient bone” as an example of an item that is ultra scarce and in high demand.
Players have about two choices in obtaining ancient bones. They either A: farm it themselves, but that’s obviously difficult otherwise it wouldn’t be ultra scarce right? Or B: They buy it off the Trading Post. Either way it costs them a lot of time and a lot of effort to either get it through farming the item itself or farming the gold they need to buy it.
This is exactly what RMT companies want. They farm tons of gold, start buying out the high demand items from the Trading Post, and start controlling/inflating the cost of these items. It won’t be long once they’ve started that the price of these items is so high that the average player is incapable of affording these items. That’s when purchasing from a gold sellers website starts to look like a good alternative.
Let’s break that down real simple.
-Item X is hard to find and becomes very hard to afford.
-Many players are either too lazy to get it themselves or don’t have the time and so they instead buy gold to get what they want.
-The more this happens, the more the economy inflates, prices on almost everything of significant value rise, and the harder it becomes for players to buy what they want.

First off, the battle against Zaihtan. I really think that at some point, you should redesign the battle against him. Like instead of shooting cannons only, use the cannons to force him to clutch the mountain side, but then critical damage forces the airship to lose altitude and the heroes must abandon the ship and fight Zaihtan on the mountain, up close and personal.
Why is it so important to do this? Many have expressed their disappointment with the encounter and I also share similar feelings. It just wasn’t a satisfactory battle against what has been, one of the biggest and most dangerous enemies Tyria has ever seen. His defeat should burn in our memories and be the type of epic battle we want to redo, because it’s so awesome.
These suggestions are in no particular order by the way….
If they aren’t already, make the difficulty of world bosses like Shadow Behemoth scale better depending on the size of the group attacking. As it is now, some of these bosses are going down, awfully fast imo. And of course, loot should scale along with it. Just what is Shadow Behemoth’s story anyway? I think bosses like him should also have some kind of short quest line that involve battling against them and have some interesting rewards only they give.
Henchmen were one of my favorite things in the original Guild Wars. I loved collecting and customizing them. The same system obviously can’t work directly out of GW1 and right into GW2, but I would love to have some kind of NPC companions that travelled and fought with me and my explorations around Tyria.
To make sure no two players have the same looking companion, give them full customization to choose their companions armor and weapons. Maybe even the option to purchase a cash shop item that gives them the ability to change body, face and hair styles. And if it’s not too much trouble, also somehow incorporate them into some kind of quest line that gives us their story and a challenge to complete to earn them.
More dungeons and new challenges to existing dungeons! I really like dungeons in GW2 and I’d hate for interest in the already existing dungeons to completely extinguish. As for the difficulty, I think you guys will have to figure it out to some how be challenging to hardcore gamers but still completable by casuals. Fractals should definitely not be left out of this. Be sure to keep players interest in Fractals with new areas, bosses and epic loot to earn
Player housing! Having our own little spaces in places like Divinities Reach, Black Citadel or Lion’s Arch are dream many of us have. Hell, I’d even purchase a cash shop item with real money to have access to my own house similar like you did with the recent “Royal Pass”. This is definitely something I think if you’re not already working towards, you should really, really consider.
Skill Combos may be effective, but honestly, they’re a forgettable and unremarkable part of Guild Wars 2 combat by most players I think. Not only could they be made a ton more visually impressive with special effects at the very least, but could be a bigger part in how players work together to do something fun and impactful in combat with each other.
Improve Guild options and features. It’s hard to believe I’m looking at my guild roster and I don’t even know when people were last online. Same goes for people in my friends list.
First person view. You know how many talented machinima style video makers and average players would enjoy this? It may seem like a minor thing but trust me, it’s a highly desired feature by many.
A separate storage for armor and weapons on the go. Some of us are carrying a lot of gear so we can swap weapons and armor sets and would love for it to not take up our bag space. Impress us even more with the ability to create sets and switch it all with a simple click out of combat.
These are a few of the improvements that come to mind that could really beef up an already strong game.

Hello ArenaNet,
I just finished reading “Guild Wars 2: The First Year”. It was a good read and made me remember all the things I love about Guild Wars.
You as a company and your Guild Wars games have come a long way since I first played beta in Guild Wars 1. I’ll never forget the gigantic wurms and exploding gnomes in the finale lol. It made a strong impression on me then that this company and it’s game had some fun surprises for us in the future. I went on to purchase all of your expansions and absolutely loved everything, especially Eye of the North.
Fast forward to 2012 and Guild Wars 2 didn’t just surprise me, it blew my mind. You made a fantastic game and still the most beautiful MMORPG on the market in my eyes. Not just beautiful, but full of great content with fun stories in PVE, quick access to the fast paced structured PVP, and the most epic multiserver pvp battles I’ve ever seen in WvW.
And that doesn’t include all the other great, genre bending features that make Guild Wars 2 stand out in a sea of “WoW clones”.
For example, you have a great dynamic event system that makes leveling characters by far the most interesting and enjoyable leveling experience I’ve ever had. I’m still in love and may never stop leveling alts lol. The dynamic events also work to give challenges even after max level and I am never going to tire of slaughtering the world bosses like Claw of Jormag. (You should have seen my face first time I saw they shot him out of the sky :O) Please add more!
Since launch there have been many interesting, entertaining, sometimes controversial improvements and additions to Guild Wars 2. You’ve tried a lot of interesting things, pushed the envelope (sometimes too hard) on what your game and it’s servers can do. I respect that a lot. The risks you take give me great confidence you’re not just playing it safe by following established formulas. You’re continuing to think creatively and develop in ways we as gamers and developers have never thought of for MMORPGs.
Despite some of the controversy for some of your added content such as Ascended gear and temporary Living Story designs, I enjoy most of it and have faith in what you’re doing. A combination of what’s good for short term, and the long term of entertainment in Guild Wars 2.
I could really go on and on, stroking your ego some more, but what better way to honor my favorite MMORPG developer than to give it some constructive feedback on a few things for Guild Wars 2.

OP has gotta be one of the most disgusting examples of player entitlement.
I don’t mean to be mean, but this is a problem in your eyes and how you play Elementalists. All classes, not just Warriors can benefit greatly from carrying around multiple weapons and sets of gear to swap during and out of combat.
So if you’re only using staff, that’s you keeping it simple. Too simple maybe. Sounds like what you’re doing with your Warrior is also what you could/should(?) be doing with your Ele also. Just my 2 cents
Take my money! I would pay so~ much ridiculous money for a full on Factions 2.0 here in Guild Wars 2! :O
Prophecies was good, but man did Factions bring me so hard into the game. It wasn’t even the asian style of it. It was just so kitten awesome. The forests, the Jade sea…beautiful and so atmospheric! I really loved Assassin and Ritualist as well!
Please ANet! You know you want! You know we want it! You know we want you to know we want it cuz you know you want us to want it and you’ll want it more too!
“Welcome to Orr kitten!!!” – Risen Chicken
Dramatic….very dramatic. Hardly that overwhelming and certainly, in no way, at all, ANets fault. No matter how busy you were, you could have stayed informed of the changes but you set yourself up for this OP.
Honestly, I wouldn’t make anymore characters. With the new bimonthly barrage of one-time events that are about to roll out, you’re probably better off just sticking with whatever you main is.
CoF isn’t inflating the economy. Gold Farmers are. RMT trading aka people buying gold from companies who sell players in game gold. I wrote a post about this awhile back that was largely ignored, perhaps because it was over peoples heads.
Long story short, popular items (like precursors) that are in extreme scarcity are focused on by RMT companies. They control the supply, inflate the cost and then sell you the gold you don’t have the patience/time to farm yourself.
All ANet needs to do is eliminate extreme scarcity by giving players more options and way to obtain those items. This new Achievement Reward system they’re about to implement could be a great way to do that.
The pop-up chest only appears once per account per day for each event. The chest can be looted once per character per day.
I’m confused. I just had the same thing with SB. There was a victory notification and that’s it. You only get rewarded for this event once per day?
I think ANet is doing just fine with the way they bring new content, including emotes to us.
This is a subscription free game by which they are already adding/tweaking/fixing tons of content, adding new content like Flame and Frost and everything that comes with it for FREE. Got that? Real content for FREE!
To keep the electric bills paid and employees fed so they can keep giving us real content, they also roll out trivial items like pets, hats and emotes for a reasonable price. OP, are you really going to sit there and say we should get that free too? At what point are you going to support the creators of this content?
Most Buy to Play games nowadays make you pay for all things after the release of the game in the form of DLC. Guild Wars 2 developes new content and gives you most of it for free. The least you can do is pay for a few extras.
Try not to make it sound like the WHOLE of the GW2 community is like this will ya? Cmon. This kitten is in EVERY GAME from Final Fantasy online to World of Warcraft and everything in between. This doesn’t seem like a very useful post and doesn’t speak at all specifically about GW2 as a community.
No. Add more game mode types
Yes PLEASE! There are many things including gear through spvp participation that could really create a lot more interest in GW2
Having said that, I personally would also like to see this as well in WvW participation. Gear specific to spvp and wvw is a great way I think to attract more interest into these game modes. And I wouldn’t mind a fair amount of grind (or “effort over time” as I prefer to call it) applied to it either.
Your condescending attitude in your op and replies to other completely ruins your message to the PVE community. And if anything, represents a lot of why PVE players dislike PVP.
Many PVP exclusive players have kittenty attitudes towards PVE players and you’re reinforcing that in classic fashion.
Aside from that, PVE players should not feel obligated to participate in PVP just like PVP players shouldn’t feel the pressure of participating in PVE content. And if they were to create more PVE usable rewards from PVP/WVW participation, you can bet your kitten people will complain they are being forced to do something they don’t want to do and PVP players would say the same if they had to do dungeons to obtain PVP/WVW enhancements.
The way I see it, free transfers were available for a long~ time and anyone wanting a better WVW experience had more than enough time to make a move off a PVE dominant server. And don’t give me that kitten about “server pride” or whatever. Plenty of the top WVW guilds have shifted servers to better their WVW experience and you should have too.
The Kitten Commandos [Nyaa] on the server Sea of Sorrorws are looking to merge with other smaller guilds.
We are a PVE focused guild that also participates often in sPVP and WVW.
If you are a leader of a small guild looking to join forces, we have a strong core group of active members and a considerable amount of influence pumping into our guild that is gradually moving toward all upgrades.
With your help, we can make a stronger guild that will quickly obtain all upgrades and enjoy a greater experience in Guild Wars 2!
Our members are fairly mature, but fun loving. We joke around and get content done with relative ease including dungeons, wvw, and other game events!
Please contact “Draven Pierce” for more info!
Legendary weapons to any casual gamer would take months to a year to achieve..
No my friend. At the rate at which the economy and precursor cost is inflating, casuals will NEVER have a legendary unless someone gives it to them.
I wrote a thread about the RMT problem and precursors for legendary weapons. It’s worse than I thought even when I wrote that thread.
RMT companies have almost full control over the markets and the items being sold including precursors. They have already bought out and relisted all the precursors and are rapidly causing massive inflation which will soon mean not only precursors, but anything of significant value will be insanely overpriced. This will (if not already) force people to either grind their kitten off for gold to afford the things they want/need, buy gold from them (which is their goal) or quit the game out of frustration.
Guild missions, really, are not nearly as important as some other issues and will continue to get worse, as long as we’re distracted by other “problems” with the game.
Ectos and rare gathering is not find nor is it controlled by the players at all HA where’d you get that idea??? Anyway….
Crafting mats are not that common for those who still are suffering from the permaDR or those who are still suffering the lack-of-loot syndrome for lack of a better word. I’m glad you got yours but to claim everything is fine, is simply wrong on the worst level. There wouldn’t be more and more new postings about lack-of-loot in these forums every week if there wasn’t something terribly wrong and the fact that they can’t detect a single thing despite screenshots and videos for 5 months now should definitely alarm you.
I can’t imagine how after seeing 60% of the playerbase leave D3 due to this same exact thing makes anyone think that DR works in the slightest sense. D3 had RMT as well as you might recall they were just more direct about it.
Because if you run dungeons and open world events, you can get rares and exotics easily. It’s not hard and when I say it’s under the players control, I mean it’s not something the RMT companies can dominate.
I didn’t say anything about there not being a problem with other items and materials. There is a problem and FOR EXAMPLE I’m bringing up Precursors because they help to demonstrate my point.
If anyone has read this correctly….and I’m beginning to wonder…this is about the economy, ultra scarcity and RMT ruining the game through an extreme necessity of gold. >:(
You guys….have some strange requests. Increase number of ranks from 10-30?! How many kittenin ranks you need man?! lol
I just want to preview stuff in the TP. That’s it.
first of all I don’t think the majority of players care about legendaries and precursors. The only thing we know is that a lot of people in this forum care about it but we (the forum users) are just a small group compared to all Guild Wars 2 players. This is something most people forget while trying to improve the game. Anet improves this game for everybody, the casual players and the pros.
I don’t know what dimension you play on…but everybody in the guild I run is interested and working toward their legendary. I’m the one voice probably that speaks in the forums from my guild and that’s the point, to voice OUR concerns about the game, including precursors and how they affect the game overall. Do not underestimate or overestimate the words of people on the forums.
Does Anet have to deal with RMT companies already? Yes, guess who is hosting a lot of the spam and farm bots.
What is that supposed to mean?
Would making precursors cheaper help Anet? Maybe a little bit, but it would not solve the problem. The RMT companies will always be there no matter how hard you try. They have been here for years and will most likely stay here for a long time.
Does Anet have to deal with customer service issues from RMT scams ? Not at all, if you buy items or gold from RMT companies (which is not even allowed) it is not Anets job to help you.
Talking about precursors is an example of ultra scarcity and that’s why I chose it. I think you also underestimate how much man power and resources go into dealing with customer service for emails, phone calls etc and then manpower into the tracking and eliminating of RMT/Goldfarmers. And I have absolutely no clue how you think Anet doesn’t have to deal with that. It is their job to read and respond back at the least.
As far as I can see there is no reason left to make precursors cheaper. There will always be people complaining about something. I would also love to have a Ferrari but I can’t afford it.
It’s clear to me by this point you must think this is about ANet giving in to players demands so they can get their legendary faster. No, it’s about saving the games economy and active member count.
As long as it is not a necessity to play or enjoy the game there is no reason to change anything. It is just a long time goal which some people have. Those ones who started early got it cheaper, the ones who started later have to pay more. That’s just the way it is (believe it or not, sometimes it is the same in real life).
I’m glad you don’t work for ANet. This game would already be empty and dead with your attitude.
Good read. I agree with most of what you’ve said. It’s all about the grind though and it may not be for everyone but when you get whatever you’re working towards the feeling is irreplaceable!
I wouldn’t suggest a grind either. Not only is that a turn off for a lot of players, it’s also something that RMT companies can sell. WoW for example, RMT companies will take money and then level up your character, increase your reputation or earn you PVP gear…all normally acquired through grinding.
Instead, make the game challenging by increasing a bosses difficulty, a dungeons difficulty or something that requires a large number of players to complete. Simple repetitive actions are easy for RMT companies. A large raid of players and a long dungeon? Not so simple.
One question…why do you want these legendary weapons so badly?
It’s just a cosmetic item designed as an end-game item to be obtained after several months of playing the game, stats wise you can obtain an equally good weapon within 3 days max.Nobody gonna look at you in a different manner if you obtain a legendary and neither you become a celebrity, all you do is customizing your character, it’s just for fun…no need to put all this effort if you don’t like it, there are equally good looking skins out there
Are you talking to me or the rest of the community? Because I’m not desperate for a Legendary. I am concerned however about the health of the game overall and the need for gold compounded by ultra scarce items is a formula for disaster.
Soon if not already Arenanet will be putting a large amount of it’s resources into fighting RMT companies and dealing with customer service issues from RMT scams instead of those resources going into improvements and expansions for the game.
NOTE: Intro adjusted since it seems people either stopped reading at the word “precursor” or hung onto it like it was a cry for a quicker legendary. It’s not! Read thoroughly and then respond so there are no misunderstandings.
The scarcity of crafting materials as they are is ok. Things like Ectos to make Legendaries is fine and still under the control of the players. We can acquire a fair amount without too much hassle by salvaging. However, the Precursor situation is getting worse by the day.
Since September the price of most precursors seems to have gone up an average of 100 gold a month with Dawn and Dusk, arguably the most popular on the verge of reaching a price of 700 gold probably before March comes. This is ridiculous and will soon become too daunting, if not already for many players and they will quit. Imagine 6 months from now looking at the price of a precursor starting at 1000 gold.
What’s worse than that though is how the scarcity of precursors is inflating the market overall. It’s not just precursors that will continue to rise in price dramatically, everything will. Why? Because the near impossibility, the ultra scarcity of precursors is frustrating so many players and they are turning to the RMT companies.
Many players are already very comfortable with RMT and more will choose RMT for precursors soon. The more people become comfortable with RMT, the more money can be made from the game by RMT. More money to be made means more interest in RMT companies controlling the in game economy and drive up the price to make everything expensive and RMT a last option to buy anything of significant value….I’ve seen this before.
The good news is that it’s not too late. ArenaNet need only to crack down harder on RMT companies and permaban goldfarmers at a faster rate. Less gold farmers means less gold supply to be sold and inflation will slow. This will always be a battle for ANet though and I wish you the best of luck in fighting RMT companies.
What ArenaNet REALLY needs to do though, is work on ultra scarce items that can be sold on the trading post and that starts with precursors. Here’s a couple ideas…
1. Remove Precursors from the Legendary recipe: Probably not going to happen, but when you don’t need a precursor for a legendary, they won’t be desired so greatly and the price will plummet. Then you can buy a precursor for around the same price maybe as any other exotic.
2. Increase the supply of Precursors: More supply means more competition from more sellers and the price will go down fast.
The 2nd option is probably the only real option but I thought I’d just throw that out there about the legendary recipe.
As far as increasing the supply goes, instead of simply increasing the drop rate, Arenanet can be clever about it and simply add more ways in which precursors can be obtained. Perhaps after a long quest chain that requires traveling through all dungeon paths and a certain level fractals. Purchasing a precursor with karma or skill points from a special npc. Killing a certain number of players or some kind of points earned from WvW. Stuff like that.
Whatever doesn’t require gold. When you increase the need for gold, you increase the interest of RMT companies planting goldfarmers in the game which in a short amount of time rots the economy and nearly forces players to buy gold from them to get what they want from the game.
I’m sure you guys are putting your heads together on how to make Guild Wars 2 better in many ways and I tell you from experience…you have got to reduce the need for gold and replace it instead with effort by players.
RMT is a real threat. Precursors and anything ultra scarce that can be sold on the trading post in exchange for gold is exactly what they need to do what they do best….ruin online games. No doubt eliminating RMT completely is a near impossibility but they can be reduced greatly and Precursors is where it starts.

Some of us are on tighter schedules than others. Often during the week I have a little time to do a daily and do some exploration to get my map completion. Now I have to go out of my way to craft even though I could care less about crafting, kills a bunch of mobs underwater, because killing them on land wasn’t enough I guess, and I have to purposely get attacked enough to dodge enough times with precise timing to get my daily done.
No need to jump down my throat. The forums are for expressing our concerns, discussion and feedback. I didn’t say anything about the Laurels, those are fine, it’s the things I need to do now, the changes that have been made that didn’t need to be made now making me do things I find silly and so I made the title to poke fun at this.
Since the new dailies came out I have completely lost interest in doing them now. I want to do my dailies but in a more natural way that doesn’t require me to do things that are unnecessary. A crafting daily is definitely not necessary, and shouldn’t be required for people not interested in crafting. Dodge daily? Really? Already we’ve seen complaints about this and absurd behavior from players letting animals attack them in attempt to finish the dodge portion of their daily. It’s silly, cheap and kinda ridiculous to be honest.
Generally speaking, I felt there was nothing wrong at all with dailies or monthlies. Funny now looking at it, my monthly seems easier now than my daily.
So what’s the next daily requirement? You gonna make us dance soon to finish our daily? What other unnecessary things will we be forced to do if we want to complete something that we used to do just fine?
If it’s not broke, don’t fix it ANet. Turn back the dailies and monthlies the way they used to be please.
Hello Guild Wars 2 Fans
My name is Kinetic also known as “Chief Paw” of the Kitten Commandos!
There’s no doubt in my mind…or yours probably looking at the name and presentation already, that this…is not…a hardcore guild. (O-o)
In fact I think we pride ourselves so far on having a fun and friendly atmosphere where people can relax without pressure and explore the world of Tyria with a group of close friends. We started a couple of weeks ago, formed from the ashes of many broken hearts, we pulled ourselves from various servers to form a guild. Friends now with similar interests, many of us play daily together in dungeons and various other types of content.
We’re looking for players like us to join the Kitten Commandos. Light hearted, fun loving, active players that are interested in running pve and pvp content together. If your a new player or a seasoned player whos friends or guild has taken a leave from GW2, join us! Many of us are long time Guild Wars fans and are not going anywhere except the next map that needs exploring and enemy to be slain!
For more info visit our site http://digitalpulse.enjin.com/home
You can also contact me ingame. Just /tell Kinetic or /tell Draven Pierce
See you in Tyria!
I don’t care about the new gear. GW2 still stinks. Weak classes, weak content, weak pvp.
Game is a let down on every front.
Opinions are nice bro.
Me and my boyfriend spent months experimenting with builds. He always tries to think of ways to make a character OP, I’m thinking about how to make the character interesting for me. There’s millions of different builds you can go for and make your class far from weak. If you don’t feel like experimenting, your problem bro.
Content is plenty and fun and while I wish I could see more maps for PvP, PvP is still awesome, especially when you master your build and pawn people.Hes right, the game has become a lot weaker than potentially has in it. Also Anet focuses heavily on creating new content instead of fixing existing ones, the diff is so high that the game will never be ~90% fixed before an expension and then the whole thing will start again…
Just because they are keeping the interests of players looking for new content doesn’t mean they are not working to fix existing issues. Just because they’re not putting it as high a priority as you would like it, doesn’t mean they’re not going to do it.
Know what I heard? I’ll sum it up like this. He spent countless hours grinding out gear in GW1, and only for fashion since the only difference was the looks, but he’s against grinding the ascended gear for a stat increase.
How does this make sense? It’s ok to grind out trivial things to him like the look of the armor, titles and emotes to unlock in games but not for a stat increase? Sounds incredibly selfish to me.
I’ve stopped reading here.
You must be one of the most egoistic, self-centered people I’ve had the dubious pleasure to read on these forums and it’s an achievement.
Really? Because you know me I guess from reading this? I see it only from my perspective alone? Wrong! I see it from all sides including the people who I call number crunchers and by that, you should understand I’m not one of them. I’m neither for nor against the new gear. It makes no difference to me. My exotics, which I obtained rather easily suit me just fine and I can’t relate to anyone complaining about how hard it was to get exotics.
Furthermore, it’s attitudes like yours that make it hard for many of us neutral on the subject to give a kitten about how you feel about Ascended gear.
The more I hear the less I care.
The people complaining and assaulting Arenanet about Ascended gear was bad enough to deal with here on the forums, now YouTube videos are popping up in my face with people voicing their opinions there.
As if I hadn’t heard enough about this, I decided to bite and give a listen to some guys speech about his stance against Ascended gear.

Many players want to see difference in performance through new gear, number crunchers I like to call them and to them looks alone are not as interesting to put the effort into.
Would they blast Arenanet for putting gear in the game that was obtainable through a grind but didn’t increase stats. Of course not! So why complain Arenanet is giving them what they want?
Ascended Gear is not going to hurt the game, it’s the players mindset and many of you have decided the shrivel of increase in stats in this new gear is the most terrible thing ever and assumed way beyond what the gear actually means in the game.
It’s not a gear treadmill, not even close. Not having Ascended gear will not hurt you in the games content. It will not segregate the population of haves and have nots. Even IF people discriminate against players only wearing Exotics, who gives a kitten? If you have a Guild that isn’t full of elitest pigs, then it’s no concern whatsoever. You’ll still get content done with people that are skipping out of Ascended and only going with Exotics.
If you don’t want to play for the Ascended gear, don’t. You will not lose out terribly. The game is still designed to be playable from an Exotic gear stance, so stick with that and go for Legendary if you want instead.
Every MMORPG has a grind of some form or another. Even Guild Wars 1. The levels themselves from 1-80 in GW2 are a form of grind as well. So is crafting. And PVP armor. And WvW armor. The grind has always existed. What makes it a fun grind or not is not for you to decide for others.
So let the number crunchers grind out Ascended gear. You have no right to complain and I have no sympathy for you and your hypocrisy.
Lol at everyone attacking me now for poking fun. You know kitten well that $500 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on this game already and probably could have been better spent elsewhere.
Honestly, the level of complaining and overreacting is so over the top it’s hilarious and embarrassing at the same time.
You seem to have a comprehension problem. That’s what’s embarrassing.
I comprehend quite well actually. Especially the part where there are more important things in life and games should not be taken so seriously. T
Event was pretty awesome. Bugs made the story and such pretty much unavailable, but the big fights with the Karka, especially the Ancient were really great! Some lag for me but nothing major. Would be nice to see these events timed better for oceanic players since 5am isn’t really my favorite time to start participating in events :P Thanks for the good content!
Or maybe, pretty much all that needs to be said, has been said? There’s pretty much nothing more constructive coming out of that thread.
Nothing constructive was coming out of the thread because ArenaNet refused to give a constructive reply.
A constructive reply was made, you just didn’t see it.
You guys…seriously need a creative outlet for all this negativity. Livid? Really? You’ve got a hard life ahead of you if you’re this upset about a game lol
Guild Wars 2 is still the best online MMO out there. Call me a fanboi if you want but this game hits every nail right on the head for me. The art, animation, exploration, pvp, wvw, dungeons – all amazing. Not perfect, but still amazingly entertaining.
This game is still VERY young and it will take about a year I’d say to polish it in it’s live state to smooth out the kinks. No MMO that I’ve every played (and I’ve played alot) has ever launched in perfect condition without bugs or without any criticism. And even though the new Ascended gear is slightly concerning, there’s absolutely NO reason for the people here on the forums to overreact is such a dramatic way.
As for Lost Shores, the lag hit me only in the initial event but not the final, which I had no problems attending, even from here in Japan. I’d like them to time it a little better for us and the Aussies, and I have faith they will work on making future events, including one-time events, more accessible for us around here.
The new survey is proof that ANet is listening and cares about the players and should reassure players with concerns that improvements and new content is coming! All we need is just a little patience – Guns n Roses
