Hmm let’s see if I can remember the generic answers everyone will spout to this post:
Housing: Well I don’t remember seeing this one before but, ANet is too busy making HoT so not gonna happen.

Old stuff: The season 1 stuff is too complicated to remake into instances and for some unknown reason ANet wants us to twiddle our thumbs waiting for HoT rather than rereleasing old stuff. Oh, and ANet is too bust making HoT so not gonna happen.

Ok? I think I guessed all the generic answers so let’s see some different feedback for once people.

EDIT: To be clear, I agree with you completely. But this is far from the first time this has been brought up…

Keyword being “as it is now” none of the specs are set in stone and nothing is stopping the originals from getting rebalanced as well. Seems like a wait and see thing to me.

So our dear ANet, who is rather known for not revealing much to their players, hasn’t said as much as you like about the x-pac which tells you they are way behind on releasing it?
I’m still thinking August for the 3 year anniversary myself, but the point is, just because they aren’t saying much doesn’t mean not much is getting done.
They could have the pve beta ready to go right after pvp beta is done and have the thing shipped by June. Unlikely? yes, but we really don’t know anything.

The gear you are looking for as a fresh 80 would be exotics. These can be crafted at lvl 400, bought with karma at temples in Orr, or bought in WvW at vendors using badges of honor the currency aquired there. Or you could simply purchase them off the trading post but that usually costs a few gold each piece.

Good idea. Not gonna happen in a teen rated game though…

And let’s not forget that theory that all those bug fixes for the last major patch allowed them to sneak in stuff for the stress test. So just think of every “inconvenient” bug fix as a potential step closer to HoT beta…

Well since one person’s cool is another person’s ugly, I will just suggest the wardrobe tab at any bank lets you see all armor in preview.

I really don’t get what is so hard to understand. I took a good year or so off from the game, missed the majority of season 1 and the first half of season 2. So I bought the first half happily because I ignored the emails telling me to login. Honestly, I thought they would be awkward events like the beginning of season 1 was so I saw no need to login. I could understand people complaining about missing season 1, but complaining that you have the option to experience content you weren’t here for in season 2? Really? I don’t get it….

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it? If they represent 95% of the community like you said, why would they make this major change for the 5% that want it?

I just completed Lornar’s Pass and it was there for me. Remember it is up above the cave entrance not on the ground floor.

I’ve noticed the char select screen doesn’t always play the char select music, but keeps playing the zone I just left instead. So maybe those hearing SW theme just left SW? Probably another bug…

Echoes of the past shows that because you completed it. Choose continue then try going back to point of no return and restarting that one. Hopefully the mail will pop then.

just don’t forget about your experience scrolls if you do start over. Starting at 20 instead of 2 really helps avoid a lot of the NPE hassle.

Why do you feel suckered? The entire point of that sale was to get those items early and you did.

Was kinda looking forward to part 2, I assume it ends with a not so triumphant teragriff fang or maybe tendon? Yea I have to agree with Flarefox’s moral though. I like this map a lot, but sometimes the AFK drives you nuts.

The current price of the game plus the $20 in gems for season 2 is the same as the price of the game was when it came out. Seems like that is already a good deal. Anet has said in various posts that season 2 is free for the weeks that episode is current and that’s it. Technically it would only be $17.50 since episode 8 will probably stay current for awhile just like episode 4 did during the midseason break and episode 7 did during wintersday.

I think the correct answer is everyone is currently doing the story and jp. Give it a couple days and the crest farming will resume.

Oh, on a side note: turns out you can get the pants with alt characters just like the shoulder pieces were

I apologize to my fellow Yak’s for admitting this, but if you want a server that is constantly populated without bad que times (I’d assume) go to Dragonbrand. Very large oceanic crew and a decent and growing NA crew.

Or heck, we at Yak’s supposedly have a great oceanic crew and could use more people on the NA time so come here

As someone who spends most his time in dungeons and quite a bit of time in WvW as well, I gotta disagree with your 100:1 ratio of WvW vs Fractals. I’d even go as far as to think that there are more people playing PvE, you know… the MAIN part of the game, than there are doing the side game of WvW. This might change if they ever get around to fixing all the problems with WvW but right now it is just invisible zerg vs invisible zerg. Yes it is against people not AI but I’d much rather play an AI I can actually see and get some reward for beating. What do you get when your server wins its WvW match? A pat on the shoulder from your guildmates and a swift kick from ANet’s ranking system.

So does it suck that DB has a huge off-NA presence? Yes. But what exactly is whining on the forums about it going to accomplish? Seems to me that would just keep us from getting our own oceanic/asian presence cause no one wants to transfer to a server that whines and complains about their time-slot. And why for the love of god are we STILL feeding the Bunzy-troll?!? Ignore her and she will go back to guuma’s post where she belongs. Don’t care about the score at this point, just happy we aren’t fighting guuma anymore.

Hmm can’t help but wonder how much fun it would be to be on Dragonbrand. Awesome server name, awesome oceanic presence, and the rush of literally fighting for your WvW life every day at NA primetime. Ah if only I didn’t love being a Yak so much. Having an awesome guild is nice too.

Ebay just finally got away from the puzzle camping masters at Guuma so give them a break. Must be nice to be on the other side of the ballista in the JP for once

While I certainly don’t condone these actions, at least we know it is a hacker guild that happens to be on Maguuma at the moment and not the main force of the server. Whoever these folks on DB are, I calmly would like to remind everyone 4-5 people does not a server make. Let’s keep it clean everyone. Yak’s is still in the lead and, yes I realize week is long ways from over, but the Asps are getting it handed to them this week so if it ended now we would be back in tier 3. Keep up the good fight my fellow Yaks and good fighting by all on both the other servers as well. Well all except the hacking minority…

Quite the opposite in fact. Have you tried transferring servers lately? Most of the NA ones are almost always full. It is the EU servers that suffer from Medium/High status. I’m on Yak’s Bend, currently a tier below TC, and I can tell you my server is packed on the PvE side. At least in the endgame areas and LA.

or you could talk your party into either rezzing you or suiciding and starting at the next checkpoint… kinda common tactic for cliffside.

The all-mighty Bunzy has spoken. On behalf of all of Yak’s Bend I hereby give up this weeks match because we cannot possibly compete with Bunzy’s l33t cookie-cutter skillz.

They have been all night, but that’s why every spawn has 3 exits I suppose. I did enjoy taking out my frustration running a break out event on EBBL. Still wonder if I’ll ever get to the blue jumping puzzle though lol.

If there are no players on during Euro prime time why do you need to be on? Let the graveyard crews of the servers fight themselves without an addicted daytime commander leading one of them…

About the nightcap issue: Random though that I know people won’t like, but why not just not publicize the ranking? Heck, get rid of scores too. Just let people play WvW for the sake of killing other players and server pride instead of being obsessed over the stupid tiers? Seems that would solve the bandwagon issue and if you happen to play a server that “nighcaps” then try again next week maybe you will get lucky and not fight a 24/7 server. I live in central NA and work overnights so my main playing time is opposite of peak: middle of night-early morning, should I be punished just because I don’t jump on the game in the evening?

And a suggestion in reply to previous post: Instead of staying up all night entertaining your zerg be happy you won this day and try again tomorrow…

That would be because SF is the second team and is not only losing badly to the first team, but is losing to the third team as well. So AV is taking a hit for getting blown out by BP, although not as big a hit as the “better” SF server, but is gaining some of it back for currently leading SF. And yes I am generalizing ALOT since it is a fairly intricate formula.

Well isn’t this a silly little argument showing the great rivalry between Yak’s and FA. Point is Yak’s is full during EOH’s peak hours as he stated near the top of this thread, so even if that is 99.9% PVE point is his guild can’t join Yak’s so lets not drag this thread off topic into yet another argument between two heated, and usually greatly matched up servers. Hey FA can you do us a favor and take it to CD this week? Would love to get to fight against you in tier 3 again soon.

I think he means the actual glick score is dropping on Yaks and going up on Mag and EB. Although looking at tier 5 this gets a bit more confusing. Why is DH taking the hit not Dragonbrand in a very close matchup? I’d assume it is because they only have a 5k lead on NSP and DB only has a 8k lead when both are about 50 rating points ahead of NSP

But my theory is simply Yak’s previous rating compared to the other two was higher than the matchups scores are indicating. On paper Yak’s should dominate this matchup but that isn’t happening because of numerous factors most importantly, because humans are playing the game not computers.

One thing to keep in mind as well, is that the ratings are so easily changed that it is almost pointless to look at them so early in the week. As the week goes on, if Yak’s continues to hold the lead and grow it their rating will move back up.

you do know the points don’t matter right? what do you get for your server winning a week? nothin. so the low tier servers have the same thing the high tier servers have ppl who play WvW for the thrill of killing somethin not ran by AI and ppl who complain that its broke. Why can’t ppl enjoy the fights and quit whining about the completely useless scores?

Can’t you just right click on them and send party invite just like you would someone on your own server? I’m missing the part of this that is secret and unknown…

This is just a thought from someone who enjoys GW2 and honestly never played WoW, but sPvP and tPvP and even PvE all have one thing in common, the P in their name. They are all about Player progression via rank or ascended armor or whatever. WvW doesn’t have a P in there because it is all about helping your World aka server be the best World. This game mode isn’t about promoting what an awesome player you are, it is about promoting what an awesome team your server is. You, being on SoS, should know this better than anyone. Congrats your server is #1 you have accomplished the pinnacle of WvW now you can either continue to defend your title, or go to sPvP or tPvP to earn praise for your individual efforts via rank.

While I personally don’t feel this way, I believe the general consensus is that DR didn’t work to get where they are so much as they were the bottom of the bottom so all the guilds looking for an underdog challenge transferred there and that is how they have seen success recently.

its a bug that has been brought up before. for some reason cutscenes are automatically disabling headgear. they’re working on it…

All three, or as I like to say 4 since I consider Crystal Desert awfully close to us in tier 3, tier 3 servers are very well organized and would welcome you. Personally, I’m on Yak’s more because my guild is a wonderful dungeon running guild that also delves into everything else including WvW. But you really can’t go wrong with any of the Tier 3 servers. As has been said before, TC is the unofficial RP server so if that’s your thing they would be a great fit. From what I’ve heard FA is more of a hardcore WvW server with some great WvW guilds like Gods, not sure but I believe they pioneered the D/D elementalists that have become the latest rage in WvW. Yak’s is more of an all-around server that has guilds focused on PvE PvP and WvW. And if you like the underdog, go with Crystal Desert as I’m sure they will be back up here in Tier 3 soon.

Yes, this is exactly what they should do. The dungeon story modes set up the end of the personal story perfectly. I have always felt like I would rather see a more fleshed out Destiny’s Edge story than this Trahearne story we have now. I do enjoy this game, and the story really isn’t as awful as many posters make it out to be, but Trahearne does really seem to take the personal completely out of the personal story.

never played the Secret World, but I agree with you completely. What’s the point of “Take control of your destiny” if you are destined to the exact same end point anyways?

cough slight spoiler cough which order you are in only decides the next 20 levels or so of the personal story, they all lead to the same place… that said, I’d suggest Order of Whispers because you like their armor and that is something you can carry with you after the order part of the story is over.

as much as I love everything you wrote and think it is exactly what they should do, I see one major flaw here. There are new players all the time, and people are not all done with the personal story. So how would you fit an event such as this that takes place after the end of the PS into such a massive common event? I do hope something like this could happen with the other dragons though… anything but the horrible throw a dungeon in ending they have now.

Here’s an interesting unanswered question. The entire Lost Shores event. Why did nobody notice the island just off the coast til now? How do the karka fit into lore? Who, in the name of all the Gods, thought it would be a good idea to teach them how to barrel roll? Lots of unanswered questions to ponder, you just need to know where to look.

So I’m working on wrapping up the personal story to get that nagging unfinished feeling gone, and complete the “Blast from the Past” mission where I help a Sylvari warmaster use a weapon against the risen. So then at the start of the next mission, Trahearne introduces me to a Norn and, wait for it, THE SAME SYLVARI. Both he and my character act like they didn’t just complete this epic mission together moments ago and exchange pleasantries. Really?

So you get in-game mails with the “Show Me” button showing you exactly where to go, you get your guild to tell you go to the guy with the “boat icon” and can’t find the guy with a boat over his head or the boat on the mini-map, you have been playing fractals non-stop, how did you find that dungeon? Did you spend the first day roaming around Tyria LFG for pretty new place? There were plenty of obviously pointed out ways to know what was going on IN GAME

Oh and I run a min-spec system and the only time I lagged was during the reinforcments stages which is kinda expected when they dump 30-40 karka on an already much too large zerg. Maybe I got lucky and was on an overflow that didn’t have as many issues as other servers, and if you had attended the event and got d/c just before the chest then this would be a legitimate complaint, but you didn’t. And now you come with all these excuses like you are the only one who plays this game and we didn’t all have the same information you did.

My 2cents

I personally loved the event, arguably because of some of the problems. Our entire overflow got wiped by invisible Karka a couple times, but noone was really complaining, we all laughed and made “dead people” jokes. Our overflow took one of the longest in my full guild to complete, yet I had a blast the entire three hours. No I didn’t experience disconnects, but there was plenty of lag, and the loot I got wasn’t much to celebrate about either. Some people need to remember this is a game. Have fun! Quit being so negative all the time. Great Job ANet, looking forward to how you try to top yourselves with Wintersday.
