Anet Considering New Legendaries?

Earlier today while I was pushing myself to grind out maps for Gift of Exploration, I ran into a friend who said that Anet already had designs for new legendary weapons.

I am having both a like and hate with this. If I am going to spend all this time grinding for a legendary – this is it. I am not doing another one and I would be beyond livid to grind out the entirety of my Bolt (only one I like on thief that works for RP as well) just to have them release an awesome sword legendary.

I wouldn’t mind if it was a legendary upgrade, where you have to have Bolt to then upgrade to the new legendaries (Basically making the legendary a precurser for the next release of legenaries) , then I wouldn’t feel like I wasted all my time on Bolt. But if there are designs already for legendaries — people should have the right to know and know when it plans to be released so they can plan accordingly. It’s not like it only takes a few days to farm.

I am not quite sure what I can do. I tried looking up other ways of fixing things, however, everything I tried didn’t work. This has happened prior to this latest patch a few times, but before I was able to just close out of it and restart – after a few tries it let me on. However, now, it won’t.

I wish there was an in-game notification to say it doesn’t count. I wouldn’t have wasted my time with it and the afkers. I don’t pay attention much to online streams with a busy schedule so I didn’t realize that at all. And of all the people in my guild, nobody else knew that they didn’t count either.

Alright, well. I ran around to get as many achievements done as possible so I have as little to do on the 18th mad-rush-to-finish, to realize two of the achievements don’t even count?

I am not sure if this is a bug, if it was intended however — can you guys warn us which ones don’t count so we don’t bother wasting time on them?

TLDR: Is this a glitch or do two of the achievements really not count?

This is one of the best places that I can go into and 100% get roleplay since people in there are always roleplaying. Please don’t cut us out.

I don’t even care if the gates are not opened or we have to nearly die to get into there, as long as we continue to have access to salma: that is all I care about.

Guild Name Change

I would like to suggest a way to do a guild name change, I would assume this would follow the same pattern and the character name change: So I do not imagine it would be hard to implement.

Reason being: Many friends have made guilds, unlocked many things, then the guild would fall apart or things would happen. Many have kept those guilds that now idly rot but nobody wants to rid them because of all their unlocked portions. I would love to see a way to re-name the guilds and be able to re-use them.

I know my current guild has the whole bank unlocked (all 200 spaces) and I would love to keep that, but I would need to change the name to something to fit the new idea better.

Allow Players to Wear Armour of Lower Types

Ever since the beginning of the game, I have been searching for a certain style…I finally found it while previewing in the PVP locker….for Light Armour..I am a thief. I rather despise the gameplay of the LA classes so the idea came to mind that either:

1. Allow people to wear gear of lower types.

2. Allow us to use skins of PVE armor as costume wear

Either of those would solve my issue 100% and I am sure many others have had this going on as well. I love some of the LA masks and the Vigil LA shirt is what I’ve been searching for in style forever…but could never find for MA.

I am not saying to wear gear of lower types so warriors and guardians run around in LA, not at all, but for those who like to have cool things to wear when running around the city – I enjoy collecting clothes. If we could skin it to anything, I would pay extra for a transmute stone that allowed me to skin any clothing type to the one I use.

Or the ability to wear PVE armor as costume would be amazing as well for the same as above, but this is any PVE armor as costume, not locked to your current profession’s class of armour.

I hope others feel the way I do. I’d love to see this happen.

Longbow, an idea

I would love a ranged option like a longbow, heck even a short bow.

I know Anet says to post ideas on the suggestion forum, so you might want to try posting it there so the devs can see it versus the Guardian forum. I would definitely second the idea there.

I would like another option on it for buffing allies (or to make it the second skill versus the third) but that is only because I am a support guardian
In the end, I’d be happy with any ranged option other than what we have now.

I have full clerics gear with runes of the soldier (will change to dolyak later)
I sit at about 18k hp at the moment.

I was curious if I should aim more toward full clerics accessories or mix soldier in as well for more HP.

I realize big numbers on HP is nothing if you cannot fill it up, however, it means nothing when you don’t get to use the healing power to the fullest because you are knocked down first.

Was curious which is a better route to go in the long run.

I am aimed at full support, damage is not my concern.
Staying alive and keeping my teammates alive is my goal.

Giver's or Soldier's Armour: Support

Is my current build with traits. I realize some of the stats on that page are typos, however, they are close to being accurate to the traits I am using (example: cooldown on weapons says it’s 25% on there, it’s actually 20%)

I have one friend that I do instancing with, other than that is it usually pugs. However, if they want DPS, I can switch over to my pure DPS thief, which is why I am going heavy support Guardian on my guardian. To be able to offer either or.

I am thinking, with the way I have it thus far, that soldier’s would be better to go than Givers. Thanks for the input.

Giver's or Soldier's Armour: Support

I decided to roll a heavy support guardian. My traits are 0/10/30/30/0 using Staff + Mace/Focus (sometimes hammer for KB)

I was curious which armour set is better for support in the end.
I like the +101 toughness on Giver’s vs the +72 toughness.
However, does the +72 vitality make up for the 29 point difference?

I know the boon duration people have said is ‘bleh’ on it’s own, though that is why I am looking between the sets and looking for advice. To see which in the end would make a better support guardian, as, I am aiming for max survivablity while offering support. (After all: a dead guardian does nothing regardless)

Just as a further note: I am leaned more toward Soldier’s over all, I just would rather compare items before attempting to dungeon farm the Soldier’s gear.

I appreciate the input and suggestions.

I took the 2H cooldown because I use staff most often, swapping out mace+focus for hammer for when the group is doing just fine and a KB is nice to have.

I was aiming to go toughness/vitality on my gear, so thank you Viralseed for pointing that out, as I didn’t really take that into account.

I was taking up Pure of Voice due to knowing that conditions can be a pain in the butt when you’re waiting around for your skill to remove them to come up (for allies), and since I run shout build (sometimes only 2 shouts to have wall of reflection) I use them quite often. I’ll have to look up the Runes of Lyssa when I get in-game.

Support Build: Between Two Traits

Hey,
I am currently running a guardian, attempting to get him to 80, after having kind of guessed about what I aim to do. I plan on him being pretty much a full on support guardian. I am in between the two traits that are underlined in blue: The 20% CD on 2H and the 5(s) of Might Trait.

I currently am using staff + mace/focus

I am open to other suggestions, though, the true topic of the forum is which underlined skill to pick for the build I made. So all other suggestions and comments are welcome, but please also include your opinion on what is posted ^^

Would also be nice to have a way to interact with one another’s characters. Like in PWI, men could carry women around. It was a neat little feature that I will never forget. Though, due to races, I can see there being some… malfunctions in the system.

I have had a similar issue with buying things, in my experience. The support just tells me there is nothing they can do to help me and they are sorry about it. They are not able to give a refund.

I hope they might be able to help you, they (the anet support ticket area) turned me down twice about different situations that were very similar in request to refunds for mishaps.

Sometimes the support in a game can make or break your gameplay, and I have had many times where I am on the verge of leaving all together merely because I keep getting “Cannot help” replies. It’s not that hard to give a little. It’s not like I was asking for the money back to my creditcard, merely back to my account. They loose nothing and we can both be happy.

Thanks, I do hope it will be out within a month. I was curious to ask as it was mentioned 4 months ago and the most recent post was 1 month ago on that thread, which is why I asked if there was an updated ETA. I had read it, but 1 month ago of “soon” was vague, which is why I asked here.

Name Change Ticket, Please

I do agree… it needs to be out soon. I am giving it two weeks, all while I will be messaging their support system to resolve it, I never count on “It’s coming soon” because ‘soon’ is a relative term. My version of soon is less than 2 weeks. Their version might be 2 months.

It’s very annoying not having this ability since launch. I do not know any game in which a makeover and name change were not available, so I don’t understand why it wasn’t pre-made prior to launching the game honestly. They knew they’d have to squeeze it ikittenome point I figure.

All I need is a simple name change. Once I got him up a little and was able to try to find a helm to match the armour I managed to get: I found no helm in the game covers his face and looks half way decent.

So I even said they could take 400 gems or whatever just to change his name, since the name no longer works (long story, making it short) and they’ve said they can’t.
Can’t help me get my lost money back, can’t help me change a name, aren’t willing to refund me my item that is soulbound to him so I can delete him and transfer things.

It’s very annoying. when I have to put money into the game to do these kinds of things because I do not have the time to farm and do not have a warrior/mesmer in which people are wanting for CoF farm (cant join in as a thief apparently)

It seems like every time I send in a support ticket about something I need help with, I am constantly being told, “We feel your pain, but we can’t help you.”

Has anyone else gotten similar messages in response where support claims they are unable to do anything about the situation? It’s getting rather repetitive and makes me wonder if there is a point to having a support ticket option if we are never receiving any support over the matter? I am getting extremely annoyed with it.

I have put quite a bit of energy into my characters, and gems/gold into them as well, and do not want to delete them simply because I hate their names…

Please Anet, share some love and make a name change ticket available for those of us who really need it, It’s a good way to make some money just like the character self-kit stuff.

I would greatly appreciate this.

((For those who are like: Why would you want that, why name them something you like in the first place? I liked the name originally as I was going to use it to keep a character’s real identity hidden (RP) however, I cannot find a single helm in the game to help me in this, so it’s pointless having named him something else. I wish I had just spelled his name out with a symbol in it instead at this point. Also, other non-rp related, sometimes people want to change up the way a character looks and want the name to be fitting))

COF speed run

I am one in hopes that this does not get changed..

Since I recently came back to the game, the prices of everything have jumped up and I am not a big fan of any other content other than dungeons. So if I can make money and do dungeons: I am a happy guy. For me, CoF is a nice daily thing I can count on to get a little bit more cash so I am not so broke. I think the highest I have gotten is 9g before, which is very sad, specially with the price increase, but this is due to constantly having to buy things, so for me CoF is nearly a necessary thing to keep my gold from being 0.

That is the issue though. This dungeon being so fast and easy causes inflation. It makes so that if you arn’t doing CoF path 1 over and over again you fall behind everyone else.
Basically every run injects at least 46 silver into the games economy per player.

Not to sound mean but I don’t understand how someone can like dungeons then run the same one over and over again in the exact same setup. That isnt dungeon running to me that is just farming which i find boring. There is no challenge or sense of adventure in CoF path 1 over and over again.

The reason I want to see this nerfed is so that I don’t get scoffed at when I ask my team if they want to run something else. I can’t blame them for only running CoF since its basically the same reward as every other dungeon but with a quarter of the effort and none of the risk. I realize that farmers will go to the “next” fastest thing but if all the dungeons are closer to time/reward then more normal people wont feel like they have to do cof to stay caught up. If the fastest dungeon could be done in say 15 minutes then that makes running HotW or CoE for money actually a consideration.

If you are STILL running a dungeon even when you are only getting 5 silver (or whatever the silver goes down to on multiple runs) because it is still more profitable then other dungeons then there is obviously an issue.

I can understand that to a point. For me, I like dungeons that I can run with friends. So I suppose in a way it is a bit of more like farming on a guided path with friends. As I do not really like the open world content or gathering. What bothers me a bit about CoF 1 being the way it is (which I have come to see) is since I have a thief and guardian…I am unwanted in many runs. Anet tried to make everything so that any group could do any instance, but due to warrior power and mesmer time warp: many CoF runs are being limited to those professions. That to me tells me Anet needs to fix something somewhere.

I wouldn’t mind CoF being a bit longer, I was surprised to find how short it was, maybe another boss after the final boss in there would be interesting. I suppose if they had to change it, I’d rather they make it slightly longer versus upping the difficulty to the point it get’s annoying (which has happened when they changed other instances)

I completely agree with having all the dungeons around the same length of time: that way there are more people willing to go to other dungeons. CoF party is cake to get, CoE..not as easy. So I am fully game for that, though, I do believe there should be a path in each dungeon that -can- be achieved in 30 minutes or so. Not too much longer for the people who aren’t able to sit around all day every day but still want to make some money and or get their gear.

In the beginning fotm, it isn’t bad to bring lowers. We had two members in our group that were 27 and 34. We got through one just fine. Could we have done it better with level 80s? Due to traits and gear stats: Yes. Primarily due to the traits that are unlocked at level 80 vs their levels. If groups don’t mind it, it’s not that bad. However, I will say: Don’t expect people to want to take someone under 80, specially for higher up fotm. The only reason we took a 27 and 34 in the same group (and in general) was because we were all on call and a group of friends just having some fun.

I do agree though that other dungeons would be better to level in due to the time taken and exp gain.

I personally like that the gear is always for my current (or around current) level that way my character is always up to date with at least masterwork or so gear on him as he is leveling. I do like that Anet did that personally. But to each their own.

COF speed run

I am one in hopes that this does not get changed..

Since I recently came back to the game, the prices of everything have jumped up and I am not a big fan of any other content other than dungeons. So if I can make money and do dungeons: I am a happy guy. For me, CoF is a nice daily thing I can count on to get a little bit more cash so I am not so broke. I think the highest I have gotten is 9g before, which is very sad, specially with the price increase, but this is due to constantly having to buy things, so for me CoF is nearly a necessary thing to keep my gold from being 0.

Dungeons are the reason I play GW2.

It may sound silly, but all I do in MMO’s is play for the dungeons, I like being with groups running through them. GW2 is definitely challenging, some of them can be aggravating due to your group, but they’re not impossible. I have had to give up several times in FotM or other ones due to a bad group, but it didn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it while it lasted.

I do believe story mode should be easier than explore. Which for some is backward (CoF is easier than CoF SM. TA explore is easier than TA SM) but over all, I enjoy the game play.

I think the paths available in dungeons should be a easy, medium, hard.
So those who like it a bit easier can run ones like CoF1 and TA upper. Those who like it harder, can select the more challenging routes. That’s my belief anyway, to provide a good range of difficulty for the players to select from so that it caters to all players.

I am a thief along with having a thief friend who runs dungeons with me (Mainly CoF).
Due to the fact I am starting out a group with two already, I do put on there (no thieves) and explain myself, but I have never really come across a warrior/mesmer only requirement. I’ve never really shunned out having others either, no matter what profession, except for what I mentioned before due to not wanting an abundance as I usually run CoF 1 and 2 together.

I am the one who lists on gw2lfg.com, and all my groups come together within 3 minutes, many times even under 1. If you can find one other person to run with you, getting groups is rather simple, so I just start my own.

I play to enjoy the game and make gold while doing it. I wouldn’t want to run with people who are going to be elitists to the point of not allowing anyone else inside the group due to profession. After all, I have had -very- bad warriors in my group before…to the point they were dead for nearly fight and couldn’t last more than 3 seconds. I’d rather have a geared, skilled any other profession than an under geared, unskilled warrior/mesmer who brings the group down.

Thanks for all the input. I do plan to eventually roll both, but for the time being I’ll be bringing my guardian up. I am not very worried about having to learn ‘difficulties’ of a profession (mesmers being harder to master) not to say I am a pro, cause I most definitely am not, but I don’t mind spending the time to learn to be better. However, I think since I have a thief who is more glass cannon build right now, might be nice to have a more tanky character to bring to the build.

Also yes, it’s a myself+ friend thief and then pugs for my dungeons mostly. I appreciate all the input on this ^^ I’ve been up in the air for a while on what to make as an alt.

I did consider ele, but I have read a lot about them being underpowered and the support not being as high as a guardian. I personal prefer a mesmer or guardian in group over elementalist. While I do love the class, I’d rather play the other two in the end.

Hey,

I have a thief up to 80, and as much as I love him, I’d like to have another character to bring to the table as well since my friend is a thief as well that I run things with on a daily basis.

I really am only interested in doing dungeons (including fotm but all in general)

I am stuck on what alt to make and have narrowed it down to Guardian or Mesmer. I do enjoy the idea of support/tank/heal, though, I know that this game runs different than a true ‘healer’ which is what has me between the two. I know mesmers can be useful as well, just in different ways.

I was curious to get insights from others who might have both of these or have had the debate themselves. I did make both and attempt to play in the mists a bit, but it doesn’t give me much of a taste for dungeons since they are completely different.

Any input would be amazing!

((If I do go guardian, it will be vit/tough support for sure, though the lack of range is stumping me a bit))

Hey,

Originally I created an Elementalist with the thought of only doing dungeons with her at full support mode/healing.

I have read some of the forums (after the fact of leveling her a bit) that suggest against going support or heal build and just doing more DPS with minor heal abilities.

I wanted to know if it truly is a silly thing to go full support or recommendations?

I usually play healers in games so it was kind of a bummer that I couldn’t in this one (I do like the trinity, just doesn’t cover the one character I always lean toward :P ) I have a thief as my main character for all else.

P.S Also, someone noted that healing was a very boring way to go versus DPS?

Thanks, I did take up your suggestion on the 25/30/0/0/15. Liking it so far, I am going to do a bit more testing around before deciding, but changes are go with the precision one over the vitality one.

I have a question for anyone running thief at all. I am currently reworking my accessories to have con. dmg on them. I cant decide power/per/condition dmg (first thought) or power/vit/conddmg

I am a d/d, shortbow thief.
I just got all my runes to have condition damage and 15% bleed duration added
All but 3 pieces of my armour are power/perc/cond dmg. I am keeping the other 3 to have crit (just so I have a little boost there)

30/30/0/0/10 atm, though debating changing to 20/30/0/0/20. (Can share what you think on that as well if you have any help to offer)

I primarily run dungeons only. I am not quite the solo type and not doing pvp with my thief.

No I don’t intend to spoil. I am a person who is nice and helpful of others. I typically run a healing class/profession just to be able to help people out who are struggling. I can understand the people running around and 1 shotting a whole area being rather annoying. And at 80, I’m not really looking to gain levels, just looking to help others but the way the game is built…it’s more like a console game that you play through then leave, I feel like I’ve ‘beat it’ and now ought to move onto another one where I’d be more needed/of more assistance to.

Either that or reward more money and make it easier to get gold faster. That was my issue wasn’t the travel fees entirely, because if you were swimming in gold then the silver would seem like change, but since gold isn’t that easy to come by unless you farm your butt off – makes travel fees very annoying.

Here is the thing.
I feel GW2 is pretty much done with for me. I am a group person who enjoys rushing to 80, getting the best gear, and helping people. The only reason I play games is to help newer people level up or through tough situations. While at first the scale down was cute and fun, it should be an option in my opinion.

Now, I’m not saying it should be an option with no sacrifice. I’d do it similar to the Aion “Mentoring” System. No drops, No exp if you choose to stay your level. Have it something you can switch on and off (just like mentoring)

I’d really love to go help my friends, but I feel more like I should make another character to level up beside them since it’s going to be a long journey anyway since I get scaled down…but I can’t bring myself to start over another character. I think an option of being scaled down or not would help a lot of people keep a bit of interest in the game. End game, map complete, all exotic gear….kinda boring.

So I am looking between two accessories. Please do not suggest any others than these two, I need help between these two only at this point. This is also purely PvE/Dungeon build. Not at all PvP.

Vitality: Gives me power, crit damage, vitality
Power: Gives me power, precision, crit damage

I am a D/D thief: 30 DS, 30 CS, 10 Trickery

I am in between these two for a few reasons. I get downed very easily when I get aggro in dungeons (mostly large groups or bosses)

I was considering getting the vitality accessories and then socketting precision runes into my armour (exotics) to make up for the lack of precision from going the vitality route. However, a friend brought up a good point: If you can evade attacks, no need for extra vitality as you’re not taking any damage anyway.

I am curious to know which would be a better build in your eyes and why to go one or the other. As said before, PLEASE only comment on the two above. Or at least comment on the two above and then make a suggestion on the side. It’s annoying when you’re asking between black and white and someone suggests yellow :P

Well which are you doing, PvE or PvP?

For PvE, I am running power/perc/crit (berserker) for my gear, perc runes and I am thinking about running vitality in my accessories (currently researching toughness vs vitality)

I have to disagree with reLapse.

Condition damage helps..sure. But in PvE/dungeons…you’re not the only stacking bleed. Let’s say others stack on 22 bleed and you can only squeeze in 3 bleed stacks…well all your + condition damage just went to waste as it only effects your mere 3 stacks whereas damage is damage.

So, I contacted Anet about this since I plan to have two accounts (habit) of Guild Wars to run on the same computer. They told me to simply just run the .exe file twice…however, all it does is redirect me to the current game I have opened.

So, I have these two sets that I’ve had my eye on, I first began going to berserkers (got coat and pants) before I calculated out the addition to condition damage and realized that it was a nice bonus. I am a D/D and Shortbow thief. 30 in DA, 30 in CS, 10 in Trickery. I do like to stack the bleed, which I realize is where the condition damage really kicks in.

I wanted to ask if the increase in condition damage is worth giving up a bit of the power/crit that would have to be sacraficed?

Though, I wouldn’t say only at level 80 (even though its not hard to get there)
Only ground mounts though, flying ones defeat the purpose of having made Tyria so pretty.
And yeah, no mounts in pvp/wvw please…it puts the less fortunate players at a huge disadvantage and just gets annoying I think.

For people saying “If they didnt move faster”
I am against that, I would want a mount to travel and explore quicker specially if I am going back through the game a 2nd or 3rd time.

Account-wide Dyes

ANet makes money by selling dyes. Why would they want to cut their profits by making them account wide? Why would you want to cut one their revenue resources? You do understand that the more money get make off GW2 the more development we receive?

Look on your TP, most dyes cost less than 1 silver, only a few cost more than 1 gold.

It is not hard to collect all the dyes. If you are expected to spend 30 gold per piece of order gear, spending about 10 gold to get all the dyes on each character will not be an issue once you figure out how to make money (I already have most of the major dyes on my main and she is only 67).

Who actually buys the dyes with real cash??

I just farm the dyes or make them since I have 400 cooking. Sorry 200 gems is not worth 3 random dyes. Now if they sold some of the rare good ones in shop directly, I might fork over some money to get the exact one I want, but as it is now: I don’t buy dyes, I make or farm them.

That said: I would love account bound ones honestly. Specially for when you are playing a main and then you grow sick of him and want to have that colour on your new main…well sucks, have to rebuy.

Gems for Gold: How much am I paying, again?

That would be nice as a second option on there for those who want a specific amount, right now it is trial and error which takes a bit longer but isn’t too bad of a hassle, not something that I would say requires an immediate fix but would be ideal if they get around to it.

I’ve noticed that too… I’ll be running and something will hit me, not a cripple, just a hit and then it will cause my guy to run slower until combat is disengaged :< Maybe this is a bug if the rangers don’t do it too?

Daggers allow for more flow and flexibility, and DeathBlossm is great even if your not a condition build. DoT’s are still dmg, just because its 1900 and not 3500 doesnt mean you should just spam HS. and the best thing about Dag OH is that you get a Snare and a means to enter stealth, beit for the Backstab or to finish them off in stealth.

honestly i disagree, the ONLY good reason to use DB as a non condition spec is for the evasion (when your out of dodges)

it costs 5 initiative, even in a backstab build thats not initiative intensive that is a lot to blow on a skill.

dmg is dmg is misleading at best. even with the HS nerf id rather CnD or HS then DB, more damage per cost of initiative, better utility.

basically when your power specced, DB is only used for evasion, otherwise every single other skill on your bar has priority over it.

I went and I tested out S/P and D/D with the same power/perc/crit build (no condition damage)

Up front: S/P takes the lead by doing a bust damage but then it slows down and you begin getting hit more since the skill leaves you wide open. D/D allows you to evade while stacking bleed.

In the end: Both killed in about the same exact time, D/D just takes longer during the first 50% of the mobs life while you stack up the bleeds, then it drains them down which caught up to S/P shortly after.

I do have to disagree that the only reason to run DB is if you have condition damage. Does it add to it? Well sure! But even if you don’t spec condition damage, doesn’t make the bleed useless.

(Tested on PvE mobs)
I am also spec’d 30 DA, 30 CS, 10 Trickery.

But yes, having condition damage greatly improves your stacks

2.5 + (0.5 * Level) + (0.05 * Condition Damage)= per stack per second is bleed so
0 condition damage: 43 (42.5 rounded up) per stack/per second
500 condition damage: 68 (67.5 rounded up) per stack/per second

5 stacks in 5 seconds:
0 condition: 1075
500 condition: 1700

If you do not using DB at all because you think the bleed is nothing with no condition, you’re missing out on 1075 extra damage while you’re doing direct damage, but you are missing out more without the condition damage increase.
