also, if you could immediately refund the wrong item for its tokens, that would be great.

For whatever my 2 cents are worth on this:
I feel Magic Find armor should just be gotten rid of as all it achieves is anger in a group, and unbalancing the economy. Maybe magic find food that can only be made as a feast, so everyone who wants to can take some.
My issue with the personal story is that while it was well done (never before done in an MMO that I have seen) it lacks real options! join this faction or that one, what did you choose in character creation etc. When my thief and necromancer were talking about honor and the best for their nation, i wanted to delete the characters! Thieves steal, necromancers raise the dead, where is my option to be evil, or at least not a goody two shoes! When you talk to an NPC, you have one response, no choices, other then choosing what faction you want to join, and a little bit of what path you take there, but no choices but to be the nice hero, and not every character wants that.
LFG tool- yes please, I was amazed this was not fully working at launch! further more, give rewards for being in a group, such as a magic find bonus, or karma bonus, or some reason to group in PvE. so far, the game is really a RPG where you pass other players. and even if grouping became a normal occurrence, unless a group starts a zone together and does everything together, it would fall apart when they reach a heart someone already has and doesn’t need to do. I further suggest hearts be repeatable once a day, for greatly reduced reward, so that there is more encouragement to stay with a group and to go back to lower and mid level zone.

thanks guys, this really helps me be confident about the choice to have both sources of quickness.
[iLL]usion
I have a thief with the hex trait to have 10% chance to gain quickness, and a Sigil of rage, X% chance to gain quickness on a crit. does anyone know if the Hex trait has a cool down, and or would share its cool down with the Sigil? is it pointless to have both? thank you for any insight, or directions to find an answer.

and as of today, the crashing has continued, and become more frequent.
[iLL]usion
Thank you Ashley for helping out on this issue. I am sure you are very busy, so thank you for taking the time to help me and the others with similar issues.
Since the patch 2 days ago, on the first day of the patch, my screen froze, and then unfroze and kept going, maybe 3 times. the next day, no more crashing to the desktop, but it did freeze not respond and have to be force closed. I ran CC cleaner, which I had, but hadn’t run in a while, just before the 2nd day where the game did freeze.

I am crashing randomly, between 15 minutes to hours apart. Either my screen freezes, or the game goes to windows. Most notably it happened this weekend just before the final blows killed the boss of CoF P3 on the 3rd try. If the screen freezes, all i can do is ctrl/alt/del and windows states GW2 is not responding. when it crashes i send an error report to Anet. this is what it says.

any help or solutions? is it just me? I have no idea how to read this.

Is there a reason there is no built in chat program? Something that can be turned on or off through the settings function. Join a group, instantly able to chat with your group without worrying about a 3rd party program. There is no way to control what some people may say, but the benefits outweigh the problems since if you don’t want to be included in the chat, you turn it off at the settings. people will get used to it, and if anyone doesn’t want to be included, just type so and in my experience, as I have been in a group where every one else was in a chat, but I didn’t want to join at the moment, people still type instructions and respond to you.
I just think it would be awesome if when you grouped, you were seamlessly placed in a chat with them. same with WvW, but there would have to be options for group/squad/map.
If there are technical reasons as to why this isn’t plausible, please let me know.
[iLL]usion
I have been in those groups, they are not what I am talking about, you don’t have time to talk to anyone when doing those, and the groups fall apart once the event is over. I guess karma/event farming where a group stays together roaming from event to event is the closest thing I am thinking of.
[iLL]usion
I have been playing since beta, and I love the game. I currently have an 80 Guardian, 60 thief, 50 Engineer, Mesmer and Necro in the 30’s. I cut my teeth in MMO’s with EQ1 and then picked up EQ2 for a while. I am continually impressed with the advances that came out of WoW and trying to break the mold that led to GW2.
I enjoyed grouping in EQ, and loved playing with my friends and making new ones. That is the only thing I feel the older games had better, that people played together. It is great that you CAN solo, but that led to most people solo’ing, and not grouping. I am not talking about dungeons, I mean when out experiencing the world that GW2 built for us. I know people can work on the same heart or event, but that consists of people fighting the same monsters near each other, but no talking, no coordination. Zergs are just larger versions of this.
I am in a great guild and don’t have much trouble getting into dungeons or events, what I would like is for making friends in a pick up group (pug) by facing challenges together.
Am I missing something? Are there groups forming to do all the hearts of a zone and events and making friends, and I am just not in the loop? I have previously made suggestions that players in groups 3-5 get scaling magic find or something to reward players for grouping, receiving very little response.
[iLL]usion
I found this to be a great list of tips for players new and old.
[iLL]usion
Your second post made it a bit clearer, and I think my idea would work with it, if the title or label was seen in the new LFG system (they gotta be doing something!). In general, it is a very good idea, because there should be something to differentiate the different options in builds the game offers.
[iLL]usion
I had an interesting idea that could be useful. Going forward into expansions, create a weapon and or armor type, doesn’t have to be new like ascended, maybe just all magic items over 80, or just exotic/ascended over 80; that need to feed on magic to exist. After studying Zhiatan, more powerful gear was forged, which needs blue, green, yellow and orange items to be “fed” to it to continue working. It’s great armor, and the stat buffs only work when magic items are destoryed to fuel it. Better magic gear lasts longer. It’s another way to regulate money, destroy it before it is made into mats, ecto, coin. Just a thought, might not be a good one.
[iLL]usion
What if you have 2 traits maxxed? What if you did 1200 dmg in DOT’s but now you are spec’ed for something else? We would have the option to use different titles, or none, which would give no info. Also, this info wouldn’t be seen until after you group. I agree something needs to be done to achieve this goal though. Maybe when there is a viable LFG program, it let’s us choose our playstyle to show up in our information I’m the LFG app.
Vral Grymfang. Guardian. 80. Altruistic healer.
Or tank. Or conditions sponge. Or dps. Pets. Buffer. Etc.
Can’t prevent people from lying, being incompetent or just not knowing how to build it quite right.

Anet specifically designed the game so that you can have the high level gear without grinding in dungeons. You can get “Eh” looking gear with hit or miss stats by crafting, or you can get gear based on the looks you prefer with better but equal stats by grinding a bit. I Just did it for my AC armor, it wasn’t bad at all, and you make good coin.
[iLL]usion
You can’t break down unfinished crafted items, a ring with no stone etc.
[iLL]usion
I saw a lot of these and either didn’t know the sorce or missed it. In LA there is a JP that ends in a pirate karma vendor that sells awesome pirate gear. The rifle is a shotgun called the boomstick, which most of us will recognize from Army of Darkness. Also, the legendary rifle is called Vera, which is from firefly. This here is my favoriate gun.
I’ll be in my bunk.
[iLL]usion
(edited by Erthrak.4039)
I like the idea, instead of having a dozen merch symbols, a single symbol which reads the vendor type for that store. Dungeon gear, different consumables, a bar (the game sells alcohol, and yes you can get drunk!) And gem symbols for a salon to buy the hair cut and character redesign kits, etc. I like the idea of seeing the pets, not sure about renting, don’t want to upset the people who paid for them.
[iLL]usion
It was put in with good intent, but easily bypassed by normal players, and the ones it is aiming to suppress. Thank you for trying, please delete.
[iLL]usion
I like this idea a lot both because it would be more fun content and because it would add to the storyline. To add to it, I think the same thing should be done for the pact, and for champions who have compeleted the story line. If there was a chance for an exotic or better from the reward, I would do it every day. If all I got were some level appropriate crafting mats, while hoping for a exotic or.better, I would be content with it .
[iLL]usion
This is the only forum I have been willing to use and although it is not as bad as I expected, I just hate forums. Some of the information and ideas here have been a great read, but it only represents a small portion of the player base. I think it would be a good idea if Anet set up polls that pop up in game when players are in cities or other safe places, with simple questions and a small reward for answering, and a easy no thank you/ please remove me from this feature option. It would be a pretty easy way to get a large amount of feed back from more players, including those who don’t frequent the forums to improve the game.
[iLL]usion
Make it an event whereas locating the treasure was triggered by reading the map. Dig all you want in the location the internet gave you, but without reading the map first, nothing happens. Really neat idea.
[iLL]usion
Wow, that’s even more depressing.
[iLL]usion
I am sure there is a similar thread in the history, but I couldn’t find it. I finished Arah story yesterday, and it was the most disappointing time I have had in this game. A friend of mine ran Arah Story way before I did, he told me all you do to kill the Dragon is spam #2, and then quit the game and went back to WOW. I didn’t want to believe him and that is why I took my time getting to Arah story, despite hitting 80 in early October. I finally ran the dungeon, and it was pretty fun, surprisingly easy, much easier then AC when I ran it a little after Level 30, and then I got to the Dragon I have been chasing for this entire game.
I cannot fully capture my disappointment. You go to a cannon, you can’t aim it, and you press 2 until its over. It was absolutely pathetic. The entire game is built to focus on the moment you fight Zhaitan, and Arena Net dropped the ball. It is boring, and far from the standard you guys created with (most of) the rest of the game.
PLEASE re-design the final fight. Please don’t make a game based on building our character, and then make us finish it by using a area weapon! this is an ongoing mistake your game makes! A few thoughts I had were to use Destiny’s Edge to force Zhaitan to the ground and into the reach of the party, and have the party have to target the various dragon heads while dodging and defending from attacks, and making sure people can’t just sit back and fight at range in no threat. Please Please Please make this dungeon worthwhile, and a fair representation of an amazing game you have developed.
[iLL]usion
Regarding having a friend to level with, I agree in general, as I did so with my wife (Ranger) and myself (Guardian). Just be aware that when you do group in dungeons, you have to be open to the skills you may never have used before. Since we hit 80 together, we have been doing dungeons, and I started seeing all the awesome skills I over looked because it didn’t work for me and my wife.
Another thing worth adding, the feature where everyone can heal each other adds so much to the game being friendly instead of trolls.
Speak to any NPC with a real name, you’d be amazed how many events that can trigger.
[iLL]usion
I use a Razor gamepad, and although I wish it had a few more buttons, I do very well with it. I cut out and glued something I could feel for the up, Left/Right buttons, as well as the all-important Heal button and I can orient myself around that very well. I have a wireless keyboard for typing, and the built-in bumps on the F and J are good enough for me on that. It’s not perfect, but I like it. I have played MMO’s in the past, and used 1-0, wasd, and never liked it, always had to look at the keyboard to hit the right numbers.

I posted this under suggestions, and got some feedback, good and bad.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/alternative-to-grinding-dungons/first#post929093
It boils down to adding achievements to the game, which are rewarded with tokens only once for skillful playing.
I really liked the idea of scaling the dungeons down so that one person could play them on their own, I think they would be very fun and challenging.
I also had an idea in another thread I wanted to re-post- can’t quite call it a dungeon, but more then an event. A single group gets on a boat (between LA and Southsun?) and on the way they have to fend off pirates, or Karka; an Orrian ship; a Dragon- optional cannons or ballista. At points during the ride the captain is shouting for help to man the ropes or sails and the players have to go to points (labeled) and interact with the point. At the end they get a reward graded on how well they kept the ship on its path. No waypoint, instead when someone dies, an NPC slowly heals them, PC can help to make if faster if they are available to do so. No matter what they show up at their destination, but their loot reflects how well they succeeded either as a group or individually. Probably individually, so the whole group doesn’t suffer from one player not knowing what to do.
The reason I am re-posting this from my other post is because a threat started by a dev seems more likely to be seen.
[iLL]usion
I picked up EQ because it was a way to keep in touch with my High school friends when I moved to college and they stayed in high school. I picked up EQ 2 because most of us were out of college, and we all lived apart, and we wanted to get back together online. Since then I haven’t tried a MMO, I was just burned out from them. GW2 was a breath of fresh air, player friendly and fun. I am now playing with my Wife, however my friends either won’t try it, or they tried it and didn’t like it, which has left me very disappointed.
I have been really happy with my guild, I love the graphics (I refused to play WOW cause I hated the graphics, and the more grind I heard from my friends who played, the more it drove me away) and I love the Vistas showing off the beautiful graphics.
You can play this game at your pace, and if you can return to lower level areas to experience it all, including dungeons. One thing I regretted in EQ was leveling past an area, and missing that experience. That change is one of the best changes in GW2 in my opinion.
Lastly, this is also the only MMO I have ever played more than one character on. EQ1 was a Enchanter, EQ2 was a Thief, and that’s it. This is the only game I played that I wanted to re-play the world, or explore new professions.
My experience has been with the positive change in everyone earning experience from a fight and no one kill stealing, people don’t group in normal PVE, which has been a huge dissapointment, as I value friends I made from PUG’s in EQ. I wish people formed more groups, because it greatly improves gameplay, although the game is solo’able, which is a nice feature to have as an option.

If you are using the Scepter for ranged combat, the ONLY option is Focus. Shield and Torch do not have much range, maybe 400. I personally love the Torch, and although you already do burning damage without it, its #5 does huge damage for me.
I enjoy running towards a monster, using the #1 auto attack, #2 is they aren’t moving, if so #3 and then #2, #4 if there’s time before I get there, #5 and then switch to a melee weapon. It either protects you for the start of combat, or blows up and does damage. It works very well in my experience.

So, I tried out Fractals this weekend, first time since its release. Man oh man, I do not know what I am doing. I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off, running under boiling oil, falling over trip lines, it was a mess. Hey, who wants me to join their Fractals lvl 20? Agony? I am sure it can’t be that bad! (total party whip imminent)
[iLL]usion
They would have to create a new city for the scritt, as their current towns are in higher level areas. It would be possible for a smarter, more playable scritt move out of the deeps of Tyria and establish a city with its own newbie zone. I also love the scritt, but agree that the ones we have met aren’t quite playable. Stuff stuff stuff!!!!
Being able to assign everyone ina group a color so you know who is where in a dugeon would be great.
I would also love to see the option to make party member’s pictures flash red if their health drops below 50, 25 %. As a Guardian, and more of a healer then other professions, it would be nice to have something grab my attention if someone needs a heal.
[iLL]usion
Some of this is interesting, some not. Keep in mind that attacking a city would make game play very hard on lower level characters unless everyone was scaled down.
An idea of my own- can’t quite call it a dungeon, but more then an event. A single group gets on a boat (between LA and Southsun?) and on the way they have to fend off pirates, or Karka; an Orrian ship; a Dragon- optional cannons or ballista. At points during the ride the captian is shouting for help to man the ropes or sails and theplayers have to go to points (labeled with arrows or something) and interact with the point. If they survive the trip, they get a reward graded on how well they kept the ship on its path. No waypoint, instead when someone dies, an NPC slowly heals them, PC can help to make if faster if they are availible to do so. No matter what they show up at their destination, but their loot reflects how well they succeeded either as a group or individually. Probably individually, so the whole group doesn’t suffer from one player not knowing what to do.
[iLL]usion
Knowing I can avoid being suppressed by changing what i say slightly is great, I hated this for the same reason. problem is, now spammers know this. Howabout they solve it better by just getting a functioning LFG tool. and no, someone elses website you have to leave the game to use does not count.

Thinking it over, yes, being able to get all the tokens you need in one run would be too much. I considered that some people would just sit back to get a certain achievement, but I doubt that would be common, and you cna alway kick a group member and find a replacement. Irratiating, yes, but could prevent people from doing this. I was just giving examples, and perhaps that is a poor idea, but it doesn’t mean this concept in general wouldn’t add to dungeons, even if it was just another way to get tokens in addition to repeating completion tokens. Some better examples would be a reward for doing the most damage to a boss, or taking the most damage during a fight and not getting downed. There are lots of places to reward good behavior and skilled gameplay with achievement tokens, that would liven up dungeons, make it less grindy, and more fun.

Weird issue, wonder if anyone else is running into. When I tab to target something else and then press attack 1 at the same time, it minimizes GW2, leaving me stuck where I am for a minute while my computer thinks and I can continue with the game.
I am using a Razer Nostromo, if that matters.

I play with my wife, I am a Guardian, she is a Ranger. I have more healing power and I heal other WAY faster then she does. Although if there is an offical answer as how much the numbers effect healing, I would love to know that.

Some incentive? Vistas. They are beautiful and well done, getting to them all requires some effort so you’ll level, and I found them to be a great goal when I started. I love to explore in MMO’s, and this game has done an amazing job of making exploring worthwhile. run though your home city, unlock as much as you can, then go to another city and do it again.
Play in all the newbie zones. Doing so, even if they level you down to play there, lets you earn more skill points and fight with some advantages, making it a bit easier.
Unlock all your weapon skills. I loved discovering each new option with the various weapons my Guardian got, and even though you only have a few weapons, you get to unlock each one 4 times.
lastly, as mentioned before, try a different class. I tried an Ele, and while I see how amazing they are, I couldn’t keep weapons/ attunments straight, and I had to give it up. I leveled my Guardian to 80, and since then fell in love with Nercos and Engineers.

Also, I never said this would make it easy. Doing it this way could open a lot of room to make it more difficult than incompetently doing the same dungeon over, and over, and over… It would reward skill over just repeating the same grind.

I want to earn mine. I just want to do so in a better way. Simply because you ginded through dungons to get your gear doesn’t mean Anet can’t redesign how its done. I am not looking for a pass, and its possible that getting the Achivements could be more difficult then grinding. As to Anet changing, this sounds more akin to their non-grinding game design then the current grinding, and if things change for the better, the entire player base will benifit.

Loot is preference over turrets, but if you’re moving, its easy to pick up the wrong thing. Also, in WvW, the loot comes to you (great!) but not in you bag, so if your running (85% of WvW) you may miss your loot all together. It would be great if your loot just went straight in your bag, and flashed what it was, and warns you when your 90% + full instead of just full.

I would so play a Skritt. they aren’t the smartest, but they would be fun. Stuff stuff stuff!!!!
However I would prefer Tengu.

I know there is a pending change, but thinking of it I had this idea. First off, I do not want to run AC Explore over and over and over to get the 80 Exotic gear I want. However, the gear I want should not be easy, as I wouldn’t value it as much if it just fell in my lap.
My idea was instead of earning dungeon tokens by repeating until you’re sick of the game, make the token(s) a reward for showing skill. Finish each path, X Tokens. Survive without dying, X tokens. Pass an area with out setting off traps, X tokens. Under Y time, X tokens. Each dungeon, and furthermore each path, have too many tricks to give specific examples, but the idea is to give rewards for showing skill in surviving and getting past each dungeons difficulties, rather then just repeating, which any player could do.
And you only get the reward the first time you achieve it, so you can’t just do the same trick over and over to get your armor. In theory, an amazing player could get all the tokens in one pass of all the explore mode, while a decent player could do it in a few passes. A poor player with a guild or forgiving pick up group could do it in a lot of runs, or get enough armor of one type from easier achievements, and pick up pieces from another dungeon to fill out a suit.

this is a great list, I learned a few things. These may be commonly known, but maybe they aren’t.
You can bind a key to sink in water. you cannot sink from the surface, but once in water, its fantastic.
You can also bind a key to do an instant 180 turn. very handy.
when in a chat, going to a map or an item and holding Shift and clicking the item or a POI/Waypoint will let you link it. It seemed everyone but me knew that when I started.

before the game came out, you guys kept talking about having puzzles, and I was really excited. Since launch, Puzzles turned into Jumping puzzles only. I really enjoy the Jumping puzzles, especially the more complicated ones. I just found the maze in the Cursed Shore, and once I figured out what it was, I dived in, and loved it. I would just like to suggest a wider variety of puzzles. I would love a puzzle that didn’t reveal it until you got deeper into it, or through it completely. Maybe shifting rocks that change the start of your current jumping puzzles so its more of a challenge and can hoodwink the internet vids. Maybe shifting rocks that you have to land on and jump off just right to keep moving forward. I am sure you guys can think of more then I could, I just wanted to throw some support for some different puzzles!
