Still running my old RRR build because why not
Interested in this as well. I haven’t played in a couple years and want to run through everything again.
What weapon/pet combos are popular nowadays for PvE?
I don’t know …
… This is like the 10th time this month that we are saying this to players. So I hope you’ll excuse my laziness and just give the credit to these guyz.

Nah, that’s perfect. I’ve been away too long to really filter through decent builds and not-as-decent builds that get posted on my own, so thanks.

I read this as Pet Stew but I’m also lysdexic and currently eating Kung Pow chicken.
Unfortunately, while this is a good idea according to my extreme bias, ANet has explicitly said (ages ago, I can’t find it) that pets are integral to the ranger class and that they have no intention of removing them. Except they said it better than my paraphrase and the general gist was “suck it up, stand tall, and proudly whip [your pet] out”.
Here I thought my ranger suffered from short term mem— here I thought my ranger suffered from…
4th skill for the staff ‘get off my lawn’. Happy Faux?
I will be if Clint Eastwood voices it and the end of your staff is actually a sawed-off shotgun. Bonus points if your bear looks grumpy or the cat doesn’t care.
Why has nobody suggested the shlongbow? Mine brings all the ladies to the yard AND scares off all those overly self-conscious warriors who think hammer-time is still impressive.
I don’t know about you guys, but I agree that every ranger needs a decent walking stick… something big enough to tell all those hooligan thieves and tricksy mesmers to get off your lawn.
You can compare it to a baseball bat to the face. In the same line of thought as Forzani: if they see your namby pamby ranger prancing around in its ballerina shoes looking like it’s scared to break its nice little nails while carrying that baseball bat, they may not think twice about just running in with the intention of unsolicited funtime at your expense and then not calling the next day. All you need to do is rip off that skirt and show them your manliness as that bat lodges itself in their horrified faces (or overjoyed… I won’t judge). Easy easy.
Just be careful if they decide to duck… you’re a bit top heavy.

I recommend the murellow. I found mine within the first couple hours of release and ran him all the way through my first 1000 hours of the game. They aren’t particularly special, but at least they have pretty smiles.
LOL what a bunch of scrublord manbabies. Who actually goes to spanktum in this thread? Orr you guys stick to farming them nodes and thinking your undead killing bears are the bomb digiggidy? Please send me sexy whispers in game if you want my dumb terror necro or nade SPAM™ engi to bend over for you. Will luv u long tiem.
I on the other foot am realistic. I have spent countless hours dueling top tear QQers with my ranger and similar builds as this video. Seriously, I probably have a couple thousand hours, but I can’t actually count that high. I used to be a power ranger but I got all misty-eyed thinking of Blue and Pink spending all that time together without me. You guys simply aren’t facing the same issues of abandonment I am if you think a ranger can be a danger to every stranger. I can get my [insert more 2s here] if you want as well. That will be a LOL.
Ranger needs adjusting. Bad at parties. Bad in bed. Decent at being a small man but when you’re roaming that ill equipped, you’re not fit to duel. Once you reach a skill plateau you’re better off realizing that things will never get any better and just offing yourself. Bottom line. Game over man. I still love my ranger though!
Right on +1

A shark with cosmetic lasers would be kinda neat
For someone trashing rangers 24/7, you’re sure putting a lot of thought into them
wrong forum, this is the ranger one
this is the warrior forum
Negative. I wouldn’t suggest anyone use it. The offhand axe is wasted.
There’s a dev on our server who runs ranger but I don’t remember the name. I just remember getting my daily reviver off her a couple months ago in the skritt caves while doing completion on my thief… :/
Ranger population? Excusing the Bear bows us real rangers are few and spare, although we are all fighting strong.
I actually believe the active ranger community has gotten better and improved, I’ve seen more people double leaping waterfields with their greatsword and most rangers in WvW are more skilled and fun to fight. Heres to april 15th!
That’s because the only ones left at this point are those stubborn kittens who have been forced to get better since any ranger not up to par is kicked instantly wherever he is haha.
HORRIBLE-FEELING MELEE [sword/dagger] (It’s so far away from fluid it’s solid)
NO SURVIVABILITY.
Lol what
You’re doing it wrong
No such thing as rolling the wrong class. It’s not like getting it to 80 is going to keep you from playing the game. If you end up not liking it as much as thief or feel like you would have more fun on another class, then play on your thief or bring another class to 80. In all honesty, I’d argue it’s in your best interest in the long term to get every class to 80 that you can, but that’s just an opinion.
I laughed pretty hard at that image in my head.
I can regen at 330 hps on my thief in stealth. What is the comparable regen rate for regen rangers. Warriors are much higher – 400 hps I think.
Over 100k healing/minute if they really try. Closer to 50-60k under regular conditions.
Thanks. Are the green heal value on screen per second figure or per half second?
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQNBjYD7koiugrqQxCWLDIsCHy7xsELtn7RpcKh4FbUiE-jUDB4hAoNRmaAgABmKAK7JZZRDityqIasqZDRWZDTpC16jIa2lAVKgvVGB-w
This is my clerics tank. With full “Life” stacks, i generally get 340~ish HPs from perma regen (w/2% medic bonus from WvW score). +160hps from signet and 125/3sec from trait. Grand total of 443hps… or something close to that. Max healing power (full ascended, stacks, food + other stuff) and regen duration will get you 351 HPS from regen and 175 HPS from signet, but that is absolute MAX. So ranger max HPS (perma regen + signet + trait) is 567.6 HPS.
IF you look at HP over 60 seconds, you get 567.6 from signet, shout regen and trait + 320 from spirit (yes atm its 480 but that is getting fixed) + 430(x2 = 860) from Troll Unguent (Healing spring direct heal + regen is better but healing spring regen is weaker then shout regen, thus overall HPS goes down A LOT).for a grand total of. 860+ 567.6+320 * 60 = 104856 HPM…. No ally buffing you….
Nice regeneration, but I can’t see you killing anyone with that build.
People still die, good ones just won’t.
All heals are green so I’m not sure what you’re asking :P See here though https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Rangers-Can-Heal-100k-hp-min-from-Regens/first#post2091502

2. Engineer

I haven’t seen this issue either. If anything, the biggest issue with Sic-Em reveal is that it requires a target. If you don’t autotarget (which a lot of roamers turn off), then it’s sometimes the most frustrating thing in the world just trying to click the thief let alone pop off the skill in time before it stealths away again. I’m sure everyone’s had that occasional issue when trying to use it. Then there’s the fact that you can’t make your pet rampage unless there is actually a target.
This is kind of a funny question to ask. All the old builds posted haven’t exactly gone away. They may not get much use anymore because there are “better” builds out there, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are bad now.
Generally, the majority mindset for pve is that if it’s a tough fight, it’s better to kill stuff faster than spend more time on the fight by duking it out longer, so rangers with healing stats are subpar as far as “viability” (at least as defined by the general populace) goes in dungeoning. A single guardian can buff a whole party withs tons of might, do more dps than ranger, give more boons more often, and on top of it all they have a passive healing trait that helps the dungeon party on top of whatever regen is applied). In that respect, if a dungeon party is looking for a healer, they’ll almost always grab the guardian first.
So no, I really don’t suggest getting a healing build for pve. Healing stats work great for s/tPvP, roaming, and small-group fighting in WvW though.
3000 hours on my ranger. Your 6 months is a drop in the bucket.
There’s also the issue of bloodlust. I’ve got to admit, I’m a little jealous of TC’s enthusiasm towards those cap points. I am always yelling at someone to contest them or to help me cap them for our side.
I made Kudzu on my ranger over a year ago and have used it only a few times (I found out immediately after that making your ranger a bunker build was incredible effective). Now I’m thinking of moving it over to my newly leveled warrior. Maybe then it’ll get some use.
Oh yeah, no kittenty pets either.
Literally a few posts under this one lol :P
This is a really fun build, helped make ranger interesting for me to play again.
And that’s awesome lol. I’m going to use that as a testimonial.
Is this build still viable? Is there an updated version?
The BTR build was the updated version of it. I just got lazy and never finished the variants (and probably won’t). I currently use a modified version of the BTR build that replaces forge runes (which I still say are incredible) with antitoxin runes.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how the power variant of this build would work with the new Zeaolts prefix (power, prec, healing)? Basically, you would trade off some toughness from Clerics to gain precision.
It should work fine. You’ll just need to be better timed with your dodges since lower toughness is less forgiving.
Can anyone comment on if this build is good for flipping camps solo?
You can facetank unupgraded camps with it. It can take fully upgraded camps too with some practice.
I already like this thread lol
I’m not complaining about the lack of fights or anything, but if you’re in any way trying to masquerade your transfers (preemptive stacking in time for Season 2?) as valiant intentions to balance kitten, don’t bother.
God forbid anyone here gets the crazy idea that maybe the transfers weren’t because of any active recruiting on the server’s part but rather because of friends already on the server who made a good case for the move here when they heard we were in need of relocation.
Then again, conspiracy theories are always a nice way to come up with a convenient answer. Pinning any individual as a grand mastermind behind all of this is unrealistic and ignorant of the intentions of the guilds that moved here. One guild initially decided to move, and players who have been playing with eachother for almost a year and a half decided to stick together. We like each other, that’s all there is to it. If there’s anyone to blame for the transfer to SoS rather than another server, it’s a certain Bob De Niro, and I can guarantee his mind was more on getting his friends to join him than any preemptive Season 2 stacking.
This is for the EBay transfers. I can’t speak for [All] the rest (haha, see what I did there?).

Guten tag, Ich heisse Manekk und ich whone in Tyria, I don’t know anything more than that…
It was a valiant effort :P
I personally have always felt that combo fields on traps shouldn’t have been a thing in the first place (let alone being further implemented now). You can’t control when they are going to go off. You can only guess. As long as combo fields can overwrite other combo fields, it’s a bit of a nuisance when running traps might accidentally overwrite an ally’s field just because some red name runs in. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.
They should buff traps in some other way other than giving them combo fields and give us more attacks that apply those fields instead… attacks that apply direct targeting rather than utilizing an undetermined delay. Even adding a second skill option to traps that allows them to be manually triggered would help.
Lol this account name
It can if T1 guilds start to destack we can have 3 tiers of balanced servers. Just 2-3 guilds from JQ/BG talk to each other and pick DB/MAg respectively if you oceanic/NA. Start the process then go from there!
That would be ideal but its not likely to happen. Both like winning too much and I doubt they would self sabotage their server’s winning percentage for better fights. But like you said, it would be nice if it happened.
Not to mention how incredibly expensive it is to transfer. It’s 150g per person at the moment. Yikes!
Power to you guys for continuing to theorycraft for this class despite the neglect the developers have shown it.
This would make it virtually impossible to hold keeps for lower tier servers where a group of 5 oceanic players can already devastate a BL during the right hours of the “night”.
That’s like calling a ram or golem an NPC. He’s suggesting new types of strategic traps – inanimate objects – not scripted enemies that walk around and attack you.
Guardian is now
Yeah Chris hit it on the head pretty much. I’m lazy and don’t feel like listing things out so I’ll just copy/paste them from a nice summary I saw posted on our forums (which I think was actually edited from a post on ZoD’s site haha). Either way, the list is almost unanimously shared by the players of our guilds. I guess you can sum it up as: reasons.
SoS is higher ranking, but not Tier 1, which we think will be too overcrowded and have giant queues, generally frustrating our players rather than solving the problems we have at Ehmry. SoS fights about 5-6 different servers in rotation, instead of being stuck with the same 2-3 week after week. They are competitive in their tier, and looking at their match history, they have placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd many times, instead of being stuck dead last every week. They have a strong oceanic presence, but have a gap in their NA timezones. This is a great opportunity for us; we can fill the NA timeslot which is where most of our membership is, and our oceanic players will have lots of others to WvW with, and we won’t lose everything that we fought hard for overnight. From our conversations with SoS members, the queues should be negligible; when there are queues, we have been told that they are typically less than 10 min. Finally, we know some of the guilds there; ZoD, Hood, and DIE.
GH itself was going to try to go in mostly incognito and lay low for the first two weeks, but I guess word spread a little quicker than we thought lol. Might as well give an explanation.

Leah has always had a dream to erotic roleplay with invaders from TC during our raids.
We cannot queue up a map lol. Together yeah, but not each solo. And the transfers are still only partly complete. I myself transferred over first from our guild right after it was decided to make the move and SoS was already catching up. Whatever is going on this week is because of the hard work of existing guilds and they deserve the credit.
(edited by Faux Sheaux.6179)
I run just about the same as this except with antitoxin runes and 10 in either BM or Marksmanship for reduced shout duration, mighty shouts, or sharpening stone depending on mood.

These guys are pretty good.
