So after reinstalling after a two year absence I’ve noticed in every other game, I’ve been called horrible things that can’t be repeated here. They were downright sadistic and also memorable because they were so vile.
All of the cyber abuses stem from me being a core player. I bought this game, not some freebie gimme, but I am treated as a freebie player none the less when it comes to pvp.
So I am wondering, is anet inducing these toxic environments for a core and free player so they will buy the expansion pack?
Other wise, why not make it so that in pvp only, core players can use specialized abilities as well. If anet cared at all about cyber bullying, they would try to fix the root of the issue. There are only so many people I can report a day and its pointless when there is no punishment against them.
I also made platinum on core, so skill is no issue for me, its the cyber abuse. Bottom line, don’t create unfair advantages in pvp, creating toxic environments and supporting cyber bullying.
You are not a good player, I know this because you play a ranger
Its not just me, every time I get lag in game, I ask if others if they are getting it as well, and 100% of the time, they are.
Instead of sinking all that anet tourney money on tournaments no one will watch, why not improve the lag in this game? Get better servers or something, its not my internet, its you.
Anet, I’m having a real tough choice whether or not to craft a legendary. If I finally do end up earning one, I’ll have a shiny PVE Star on top of my name’s icon. I take great pride in NOT having that star. Its like being branded by a PVE mark on your forehead and where ever you go, PVP players will make fun of you.
In your mission to nerf toxicity by eliminating rank displayed, you can also eliminate the star or give us the option to do so. Nobody wants a PVE scrub on their team and the abuses they take is warranted. So take action, implement this feature!
Did they do something to steal in a patch or something? Now its really unreliable. In pvp, often times it doesn’t teleport to enemies that are out of sight like it used to. Instead it goes full cooldown if it doesn’t work. It used to be that when it didn’t work it would take a few seconds to recharge.
This happens enough that its very inconsistent and I don’t know what to expect. Please fix steal back to it’s original form
I’ve been getting a lot of different answers to this question, and it seems like people just don’t really know. Does equipping magic booster actually work for pvp chests?
For someone who doesn’t care about dailies especially while pvping, how do I get rid of this incredible nuisance on the top right corner? Don’t bring pve trash to my pvp game please.
Why didn’t anet remove ranks shown pre patch? Now that all the pve players have to pvp, they have to please them. That tells me they didn’t care about pvp at all since launch until now.
Because I knew Anet can’t release anything worth while.
Your new pvp build interface is clunky and small sized. There are no pop up boxes when highlighting traits, sigils, and runes, like the old interface.
You can no longer ping weapons with specific sigils and runes to people who want to learn of your build, not noob friendly. Pvers will have hard time adjusting.
Having to pick runes and sigils from an alphabetical order or a category order… just give us categorical order so I won’t have to keep switching.
Not expanding Hotm when implementing megaservers, its too cramped up, wheres waldo?
Wardrobes… w/e I’ll just stick to noob armor, not worth the hassle. And I get it, you got to do what you got to do to earn that money but I will take no part in it.
This patch was supposed to entice pve/wvw players to pvp while pvp players got the shaft. Don’t tell me other otherwise. Why else would anet delete all the tournament chests pvp players earned?
That is equivalent to them deleting all champ train bags earned in the last 2 years. Whether we had received notice of its deletion or not is moot because as anet said, only a fraction of gw2 population even check the forum/website meaning the majority of players wouldn’t even know to act upon it.
If there is anything else you guys like or dislike about the new pvp interface please pile on, I only had an hour to experience it before I raged.

The feature patch is coming up but there really is no new pvp content in it. Its just a rehash of current armor and pve items delivered in a new way. When can we expect new maps, game modes, ladders, etc. ?
On a personal note, I feel every pvp implementation has failed and with their slow development pace its hard to feel good about this game. Two disliked maps, elimination of qualifying points and replacement of glory, elimination of tournament chests and rewards, rank revamps, replacement of leaderboards in favor of a ladder structure, etc. Its time for anet to release something we can hold on to.
Are these sigils making the migration to pvp as well? AOE torment on crit for 8 secs are the pve stats for this sigil. I can see engis being a lot stronger with this sigil as well as make Superior Sigil of Earth less potent. It will be interesting to see how the feature patch will make all sigils on par with each other.
But only a very small percentage of Gw2 players visit the forums actually received notice through it. The majority just logs on and play without realizing new patch notes.
So no, most players were not aware of these changes and anet didn’t make any effort to let players know ingame either. Anet is just a joke of a company but at least you know what to expect from their future products.
Anet, if your going to destroy pvp with perplexity runes, dont go half measure. You need to go full measure and give us dire amulet as well. That way I can give up pvp for good.
Are patches going to be A LOT more frequent after the feature update or are we to expect the non existent support for pvp that we all have endured for the last 2 years?
Since there won’t be glory anymore after the March 18th patch, I won’t be able to purchase pvp salvage kit to salvage items from tourney chests. Will there be other ways to salvage chests after patch?
Snowball fight is more fun, balanced, and casual friendly, everything regular pvp is trying to achieve. Any discussion on whether this can replace regular pvp or at least have the snowball feature made permanent with new maps and rewards?
Each venom alone is very strong but when used together, it is very counterproductive. We have Basilisk, Devourer, and Ice Drake venom. Each of these venom is one form of CC or another. Used together is counterproductive because if you have someone stunned from Basilisk, you don’t really need to immobilize them with Devourer. You are basically wasting the immobilize, and if you also use the Ice Drake Venom, you are wasting a chill because if they are stunned/immobilized, why would you need to slow their movements?
Combine this with Skale Venom which uses torment, and they are not moving, so it reduces damage by 50%. We have four venoms that when used together, reduces effectiveness by 50%-100%.
Now the skilled player would alternate these venoms to increase efficiency. The problem with that is when a thief utilizes venom its mostly because of venomshare for that team support. It is hard to share your venom in combat especially when you are a thief that jump around places faster than your teammates. We pre-venomshare them to get around this, thus decreasing venom efficiency.
The main culprit to our venom deficiency is the radius of venomshare. Increasing the radius range to 1200 would be overpowered but at its current state, its counterproductive. There is no need to have four venoms that CC. There needs to be more venom diversity or a better way of sharing.
Anet needs to turn glory boosters to something more responsible. All those daily chests for pvp included glory boosters. PVE daily chests got something more useful and permanent. I don’t see why PVP players have to be screwed over glory boosters when they ARE retroactively being kittened.
During the stream, they said they didn’t want to retroactively reward pvp players through gold because it wouldn’t be the responsible thing to do. Well not rewarding them at all through other means is very responsible.
They are rewarding skyhammer farmers who also pve. Its a slap in the face to pvp players I agree. If they don’t retroactively reward pvp players through creative ways not named gold, then ALL pvp players literally wasted 1.5 years of their life.
It doesn’t look like burst is because you are not getting all this hits in, if they all hit, its burst. You have to use it in a way for them to all hit. Scepter immobilize and switch to sword 2, 3 is incredibly bursty. Sword is not constant DPS because you can’t ever stick to a target long enough to do any damage.
DPS guardians in pvp are already strong as they are, with recent fury buffs, they are even stronger. If their attacks are to be more accurate and hit more often, it will make them overpowered. They can already beat hambow warriors, any thief, necros, some mesmers, and stalemate with eles. You have to use your skills at the best opportune time because although they may feel sluggish, they are incredibly bursty.
No, it won’t be an esport. They had their chance, but you just can’t bring stuff back from the dead. Criss Angel they are not.
There needs to be a 12 vs 12 or 16 vs 16 or more with new maps to accommodate. It would be more fun than wvw zergs that just auto attack but just enough players to feel like a epic battle. WvW players will come and population balance will be restored.
You don’t see wvw afkers getting penalized. What they are doing is hurting their whole server, in pvp its just four other guys.
Plus if anet penalize afkers in pvp, there will be no one to play with. We already have to wait around seven minutes per match, penalizing afkers would increase that time. Solution, give pvpers something worth while to do while queing so they don’t afk.
PvP legendary rewards is just plain lazy. It’s something pve already have. It’s just copy and paste items from pve to PvP. If we waited one year for something that can easily be implemented in week one, then the hell with this game.

Speaking of deception, what about thieves’ shadow arts, stealth, and deception utilities. How is this fair to thieves that rely on stealth to survive when you can pin point their location after stealth?
This new feature that tells you where enemies in combat are located in the mini map is a HUGE HUGE HUGE nerf to anyone who uses stealth. Ran a simple test; when in combat, you are shown on the mini map after stealth is over.
Anybody can just look at the mini map and see where the stealther is after a few seconds.
What this means:
1. Anyone who uses stealth to survive will be easily be re targeted and routed quickly.
2. Can’t use stealth to sneak pass enemy defenses for a backcap, one of the main uses for a thief
I understand bad players have no map awareness and maybe this will help bad players become okay players. But this is a L2P issue.
Where does Anet stand on this?
(edited by Fello.8673)
Its not you, its anet leaving pvp players out to dry for one year and you are feeling their pent up frustration.
Solo que wait times are 7-15 minutes so they tend to go afk being fed up waiting for so long and nothing to do. Its not that they want to afk, so cut them some slack.
There are thousands, if there are that many left, that still play like noobs even though they are all rank 30+. After playing for that long, you would think they have learned how to play spvp, but that is not the case. So don’t worry about letting them down. They will let you down. And you will flame them. I guarantee it.
I play a glass guardian and a glass thief and excel at both of them. I can tell you that a glass guardian can just obliterate any glass thief at will. In a 1v1 situation with equal skill level, the thief will almost never win. They just have too much sustain with each meditation healing for 2k, virtues, focus shield, and shelter.
Solo ques take 7-15 minutes to pop. Anet, what do you want us to do in the mean time. There are no rewards for doing anything else in that time span.
I would hotjoin, but you have already implied that by doing so, hurts the hotjoin community because I’m destroying matches by popping in and out before the game is over. Plus I won’t get any rewards for not finishing the game, so no incentive there. Since I’m a standup guy, I will not hotjoin and destroy matches.
So instead of being bored out of my mind, I simply go afk. That is my solution, what is yours?
If you can’t find the stealther after the stealth wears off, it means they are doing it right. Its called a surprise attack. Should we /wave before we engage?
After the patch, whenever I use black powder to finish a downed player, they get to use their number 2 skill to interrupt me even though they are blinded. Before the patch, this almost never happens, but after the patch, they get it off almost 30% of the time.
Whats done is done, the farmers get away with it. There is nothing we can do that will change that. But what the hell am I supposed to do for 7-12 minutes while waiting for a solo q?
Just because you don’t care does not mean that almost every dedicated pvper is affected by this. The people who pvped the right way are getting screwed for something they didn’t do. Instead of fixing the problem, they created another problem.
Let me remind everybody that original anet staff members highest rank is 41, minus the gw2 players they hired. That tells me they haven’t played the game long enough to really understand the dedication some players worked towards getting rank 50+. They are too busy working on actual game stuff instead of focusing on player experience, because lets be honest, they don’t really have any.
Go to any hotjoin, look at your bar, kill someone cap something, look at bar again. If you notice it, nothing will have moved. This happened in the last living story update.
To combat Skyhammer farming, anet decided to reward rank points only when you finish the match. While I appreciate the late effort, Anet is still going about this all wrong.
Hotjoin used to rewarded you for your time, now you have to stay to the end or you won’t get a single point. So when the solo q pops midway through the match, I won’t be rewarded at all.
I like to hotjoin while I wait for my solo q. Everyone does, that’s what make a hotjoin a hotjoin. Now I’m being punished because of something those skyhammer abusers did while they already got away free with 50 ranks.
Anet, please fix this.
Spirit rangers as well as necros are very strong in their current meta and I don’t think the D/D ele can defeat either one. They don’t have enough condition cleanses as they used to and therefore can’t compete. Along with the spirit ranger self rez and necro long lasting death shroud, combined with the low health pool of the ele, you are outclassed in damage, and in health.
Anet probably tested for these things when they buffed these classes and I don’t know why they decided to go through with it anyway even if they knew what the results were. D/D ele was a meta build, surely they must have. And if they didn’t, it shows they don’t care about these things as much as we want them to. Either way, it was incompetent and disappointing.
If you go afk for 3 minutes you will be dishonored. Well if someone doesn’t show up, I am forced to play the whole game down 1 person. If not, I will be dishonored. What kind of joke is that. I have to waste my time losing and not having any fun just because someone else don’t show? This rule NEEDS to change to accommodate the ones stuck with afks / no shows.
I don’t know if this has been discussed before because I rarely visit the forums but I had this idea called Underflow. We all know that when a certain map has too many players, new incoming players are sent to an overflow server. Well why can’t we have a server that combine other servers with a low population on a map to make it more lively. Almost all the time, when creating a new character, or just leveling in pve areas, I feel like I am the only one in the map. It is dead. It almost feels like a single player game when doing pve.
Its such a waste because I’m sure Anet took a lot of time to create the beautiful world of Tyria but no one to share it with. I don’t know if this is a limitation Anet has but I’ve seen it done before with DAOC and due to low populations, started clustering servers together. Maybe this is something they can explore?
