Since about two weeks I have been experiencing micro stutters, freezing and black screens while playing the game. In open PvE it tends to be mainly the micro stutters, but in WvW it is a lot more serious with serious freezes / black screens every few minutes.
Only rarely does my computer completely seizes up, but usually it is a few seconds of either frozen imagery or a few seconds of screen blackout with the cursor curiously staying visible (but frozen in position).
I am not aware of it ever having happened outside of the game. I am running the 64bit game client.
However, a few seconds of not being in touch with gameplay is certain death in WvW, so it is starting to become unplayable to me and I would like to find out what is causing this.
I am however not quite technically proficient enough to do this, can anyone please help me troubleshoot?
My pc:
OS: Windows 10 64bit
CPU: Intel core i5-4690K @3.5Ghz 8Gb RAM
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT740
No, none of us will be able to help you with that. You will need to contact Support for this.
I totally agree with you, I’ve been standing around for what seems like hours waiting for anything to happen at Dwayna as well. Like you, I can’t find anything to confirm that the defend event will grant the item either.
Its beyond me why these temples are on such extremely long timers as it would be much more entertaining for the map as a whole to have these events come up much more often.
They may not be on a completely fixed timer because of the mega servers, but maybe it can be built in that Historian Vermoth can tell you for that specific map (by talking to him)?
At least then I don’t have to stand around for two hours looking pretty, not knowing when or if anything is going to happen… thus completely rooting me there for all that time.

Alright, it’s about time I commented on this….
Chris, I want to thank you so very much for having broken the silence and giving us an official Arenanet stand point.
In practical terms your response maybe a small thing, but the fact that by replying you have
1) acknowledged that this is a legitimate concern for quite a lot of players
2) that you recognized that in this case a simple communication could take those concerns away;
I respect you for that. So thank you, again.
Yes, Guild Wars 2 is only a game, is it in the grand scheme of life all that important? Probably not, but the emotional involvement of people in the game and with their accounts is very real.
At least now everyone can make their choices and be confident that they are not going to compromise their account if they do decide to join a sell or a guildie offering.
Be happy, be healthy, be safe, be you
Hope everyone has a fantastic day and see you in the game!
Oh I finished my green collection, chuffed as can be!
W2z1 and z2 are ok, but w2z3… pfff… with a little bit of lag that can be completely infuriating.
Rose, I agree with you for the moment and I won’t touch the sales, even though it frustrates me as I try to muddle my way through the W2 Tribulations.
I just marvel at the silence from Arenanet’s side… I really do. To my mind it is not the way you treat people, you’re open honest and upfront… you don’t leave them hanging.
Even if it’s just a game with ones and zeroes.
But.. that’s me.
Besides, if that is the case why don’t they just SAY so? It would be so simple.
They have said, if you bother to go and find the thread.
I apologize for being thick then, but I can’t find anything about selling SAB Tribulation :-S
I don’t mind paying, to be honest, but not at the expense of having my account banned.
But because Arenanet will for whatever reason they see fit not tell us what their stance is, I will have a proverbial tummy ache either way… do I buy but risk my account or watch others cheerfully buy and risk being the sucker?
Besides, if that is the case why don’t they just SAY so? It would be so simple.
I am not sure I agree with you DoctorDing, as Gaile has also said it is not legal to sell access portals. You’re also not allowed to sell home instances, because the group is not actually contributing anything for their rewards. How is joining a party for 4 seconds, without even touching the boss any different?
To me it is more about that Arenanet is not being open about whether they intend to effectively reward those people who throw caution to the wind (and just buy and sell) and effectively make suckers of those who are trying to be honest and careful with their accounts.
(edited by Firedancer.8350)
I am sure they did not mean for people to be able to sell Tribulation, but why the radio silence on whether they will accept something eventhough they did not intend for it to be possible, or whether they will actively ban people for it. That’s not an unfair question to ask, is it?
LFG is absolutely filled with people selling SAB both in normal and Tribulation mode.
There are plenty of people arguing the legality of it in game with strong camps for and against.
Unless I’ve missed it elsewhere, can we please get an official response from Arenanet specifically on whether this is a legal or a bannable offence?
I’ll believe it and respond to it after April 1st
btw if you’re worried about having proof that you obtained the chest, why not make a screenshot?
If I remember correctly the issue is that you haven’t opened it.
As soon as you open it it will update the collection, just like the adventures will only give the achievement items for collections if you open the silver/gold chest.
Its totally counter intuitive, but there you go.
It sounds like you may be missing the Chantry of Secrets. It’s a single poi map within the Order of Whisperer’s hideout within bloodtide coast. Bloodtide coast would show as 100%, but you can still miss this one.
Hi, I had the same problem with the Dragonvine Strap for another of the pack collections, as you can see in the topic I started yesterday.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Dragonvine-Vigil-Strap-not-unlocking
However, your backpack will not turn exotic without completing the rest of the collection items.
The strap not unlocking even though you’ve finished the final instance is a problem though and I urge you to also send a ticket to Customer Service to complain. Initially they did not believe me, told me their system showed that my character had consumed the strap – so they could not help me. Despite all my screenshots showing that it had not unlocked the item in the collection tab.
After I’d done the story again on the same character AND brought a whole new character through the entire story for the same backpack and got nothing either, they sent me a replacement strap through the mail in minutes. That sorted it for me.
So, no use in running the instance again, nor with another char… just send them a ticket.
Customer service can be awesome… they responded within minutes after I sent them another reply on my ticket describing my experiences with the second char and all my screenshots.
and they sent me a replacement unlock through the mail !
Very happy bunny here.
Hurray and big hugs for them :-))
I am having serious problems with acquiring an item for the Crusader’s Pack collection.
A few days ago I finished the Heart and Minds final chapter with my warrior who had in his inventory the Recruits Pack – which is the starting item received through the personal story for the Crusader’s Pack collection.
Upon accepting the reward for the story I did not receive a message on the right side of the screen stating that the item had been unlocked in the collection.
When I checked the collection panel in my hero panel it was also still showing as not unlocked.
I sent both an in game bug report as a ticket to arenanet support.
Arenanet told me they can’t help me because according to their systems my char had “consumed” the item. Beginning middle and end.
Advice: to try to run the story again on the same character.
I did and got nothing for it.
I went through the trouble of clearing out one of my mules, a level 80 warrior and dragged him through the entire Heart of Thorns story (4 hours, thank you very much) and chose the same Recruit’s Pack.
I did the final episode in a five man party that included my husband who had also picked the same backpack.
Great joy when we sucessfully completed the episode and the popup window on the screen showed the rewards to include the Dragonvine Vigil Strap!
Until I accepted it and nothing happened: no message on the side stating my triumphant unlock of another item for the collection
nothing resembling such an item in my inventory
and worst of all: my collection panel still shows it as not unlocked.
Best of all: it has NOT unlocked for my husband EITHER.
Have others checked that they have received this item and managed to complete the collection?
(edited by Firedancer.8350)
I confirm running the 32 bit client is the solution for my husband and myself aswell. 64 bit did eventually start up (after adding the -assetsrv + ip), but it remained at 5-6kb.
32bit client loaded in 15 seconds total.
nope, its quite bad. I can’t even join a party, invite anyone into my party, leave a party, join in an instance, join on a map… chat to my party, my guild or the map.
It’s wonderfully serene out there tonight :-D
Communication is indeed awesome at the moment… none of the chat works… it is so serenely quiet. Wonderful!
True for guild chat as well.
I can confirm that a lot of these bugs are true for regular parties / chat
Can’t join or leave them, can’t join instance with them and can’t talk to them
I noticed the same thing (but with the unlock you buy for aurillium) and have the same question.
I completely expected it to be a permanent unlock as nowhere does it indicate it is a single use purchase.
Especially because as you say it is not a specific name that person used as their characters name, but an expression, there is really no real way the Arenanet filters can pick up on that during character creation.
That is why we have a report function in game, so you can report these character names that you feel violate the Naming Policy. Right Click : Report : Inappropriate Character Name.
It’s not just you, aside from my cached page I can’t load any fresh ones either.
Dulfy had a really useful overview with which dyes were available for from the birthday present and in which set they can be found.

My Bitdefender anti-malware is blocking the link you’ve put in.
Have a look here
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Wedding-Outfit-horrible-Clipping
Someone in that topic also found that the rendering issue disappears when the headgear is toggled “on”.
Since pictures speak a thousand words, see attachment. It does not matter what color I dye it or what weapons (if any) I equip.
Interestingly, the rendering issue also shows in the hero panel, but with a different texture.
Unfortunately you have misunderstood. When you buy a bag expansion slot for a character it will only unlock on that particular character.
Ehm, not everyone has hours to spend on a game everyday….
You need to be level 80
It also was pulled from the gem store, for whatever reason.
It has not been pulled. You can still find it with the other outfits in the style section.
It was pulled after the patch. It’s back again now, though.
In that case I apologize. Glad to see it back though for those who want it.

It was happening in Fields of Ruin last night as well.
Massive rubber banding, 3000 Pings and people inexplicably dropping dead like flies.
Even in the city of Ebonhawk without an enemy in sight.
Agree, I really miss having the bank, TP and regular vendor together… it’s quite spread out now. I even ended up abusing Miyai to sell trash to but unfortunately the lady, for all the shinies that she sells, does not have salvage kits and the like.
I hate to say it, but to me the Asurans got it right and I’ll be moving back to Rats for now.
Cyvien, I bought the Ultimate Edition in game and it merged automatically.
Personally I am an altoholic, so I continue the story anyways for the loot and the keys. As I regularly make new characters I feel I can do the “full” personal story on at a later date.
It is a shame they are not more forthcoming with information about when these changes are really coming though. I really look forward to doing the final episode in the Arah dungeon solo or with a friend, rather than having to pug a party of 5.
Yes, you have to do this personal story step for the Battle of Fort Trinity.
instead of registering an app and going through the OAuth2 code flow, users simply create and copy-paste an API key into your client.
I doubt that this would make anything better for the users. There are a lot of people out there who hardly know to start a pc and run their game – imagine these to create and use an API key. Despite of it’s flaws, OAuth2 is being used all over the web for way more sensitive applications and most users are used to it. I mean, we’re talking about an API account which reveals little sensitive data, not actual user account info (e.g. real names, address, billing info).
So the only thing you might mitigate is that a user gets their login data scammed (which also happens in so many different ways) at the cost of making the login flow less user friendly. You cannot mitigate PEBCAK.
This^
Also, English is not my native tongue but I have a very good grasp of it and the post of the Arenanet employee is barely even understandable to me.
1. His use of the language is incredibly complicated and
2. His explanation is highly technical
I would love him to re-explain what he means, just for us “common folk” who also play the game and completely do not get what he has just tried to tell me…
So do I understand right that the use of the Google Authenticator app is being stopped? Something else is going to be put in its place, but a decent guideline and description of where to do it would be nice, rather than me having to scour the internet for information.
Also a LOT of people do not read the forums. And definitely not the API development section. How are all those people going to be informed of this massive change?
I think you’ve already had an answer at then end of the 3rd page of the RMT topic:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/RMT-Purchases-Expect-them-to-be-Removed/4993875
I am curious: In a case like this would using the streaming client not allow this player to play while the client is loading, or is that only for patch updates?
until I remember that I will need something like 500g for the crafting professions I already had on my main
Ascended items are account bound. If you have the craft maxed on your main, have the main craft the item and bank it, then pick it up on the new character. I see zero reason to max a craft on more than one character per account.
As to the rest… Ascended was meant to be a massive time sink. That’s its purpose (really, its only purpose beyond FotM agony infusions). ANet and some players like it that way.
^This
Before this whole discussion descended into if ascended stuff if worth it at all…. the main point of your post was missed by a lot of people.
You only need 1 weaponsmith on your whole account, or 1 artificer, or 1 tailor… etc. etc .
Whatever ascended equipment (or even all the other rarities !) they make will be account bound, so you can make an ascended weapon or piece of armor and use it for any characters on your account.
So making another alt should means you don’t need to invest any crafts on them at all if you’ve already got that craft on another one of your chars.
The real tragedy is if you get hacked and the hacker cleans it out….
NO ROLLBACKS FOR GUILD BANK!
^This
I never understood why people are so happy to put expensive stuff in their guild banks and take this risk.
If you’re going to have that second account to add an extra safety member to your guild, in case you hit the leave this guild button…… fill the 6 character slots and slap 18 slotter bags on them… same storage capacity but much, much safer.
I only use the guild bank to transfer stuff from one account to another and maybe to store stacks of thick leather squares (nearly worthless). Nothing else.
