Throw torch could possibly:
Blind target while also burning them and/or is a 100% combo finisher physical projectile

Since as itself, it’s abit similar to the other skill “Bonfire”, just a weaker single target version of it.

Now completely no use of boons by the mobs in the new area, well same stuff with the Ember Bay (tho the “vulnerable when chilled” was interesting), the maddened white mantle used a poor boosts and consumed bloodstone to buff up a little bit…

Tho, upgraded versions of pre-existing mobs like the Icebrood Wolves was nice, but only in Bitterfrost Frontier…

Too bad that the icebrood mobs didn’t exhibit vulnerability when burning, like the Destroyers did with chilled.

Fine with me, optional items that you can use or not, are ok in my opinion.

Stuff happening in real life should indeed kept outside of the game.

Especially since video games, like other relaxing hobbies, are by all possible definion, the real safespaces for people to retreat into for some outlet from real life (Unlike the people who want video games and other outlet hobbies banned, because it is not of their liking, they have quite twisted and selfish idea about safespace anyway).

I just follow the idea of “Live and let live”, your opinions are your own, my opinions are mine, anyone is free to express their opinions without being silenced or censored, even if the opinion is bad or stupid (Usually bad or stupid opinions fall over on themselves, tho depending on how real life goes, they might be correct on something and prove themselves and so on).

Auric Basin: Rescue the pact Survivors event

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Auric Basin: “Rescue the Pact Survivors trapped in debris” is oddly harder than other events in comparison.

The event is nearly impossible to do at normal pace, when the debris (why the hell do debris get buffed with this unfair “Unrestricted Fire Aura” anyway?) and saurian Bonebreakers get buffed with Unrestricted copy-paste of Fire Aura, compared to other events in Auric Basin, this is a huge difficulty scale up that doesn’t regard the number of players present…

Ranged attacks are not safe from it, slowing the event down to crawl mostly, because players have to restrict the amount of attacks in order to restore health and cleanse insane amount of burning, while having issues of unrelenting hordes of Unrestricted Fire Aura Bonebreakers that deal enormous amounts of damage with their ricocheting attacks…

Healer builds are pretty much a requirement, if one desires to quickly complete this event, othervise what written above is required.

Completely neglected skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

FrostSpectre.4198

Mostly just PvE related opinions of mine:

Soldier professions
Warrior: “On my mark!” (Itself has limited use…)

Guardian: Spirit weapons (Haven’t found good build to use these yet)

Revenant: Haven’t played with this character much…

Adventurer professions
Ranger: Sharpening stone (I only use it with Wilderness Knowledge to remove conditions and gain fury, rather than use Troll Unguent to just that) and Muddy Terrain (Feels abit lacking in effect, still viable as it is, perhaps it should remove boon every 1 second from foes affected by it?)

Engineer: Played alot and I think there isn’t really problems on the Engineer.

Thief: Daggerstorm (This elite still throws daggers according to the angle of the camera, atleast last time I checked it)

Scholar professions
Elementalist: Inscription trait (Kinda meh trait, would be better if it added extra boon different from the base boon and grants boons to nearby allies when using a glyph according to attunement)

Necromancer: Corrupt Boon (Problem for this is mainly the lack of mobs using boons, ones that do use, usually only have average boon duration of 3-5 seconds and utilize useless boons anyway)

Mesmer: Don’t really see problems in here, since mesmers have strong abilities if used correctly…

I say the core game’s mob design is also a problem, when thinking about exploring the core maps, since the best build is full direct DPS and every other build is struggling most of the time (by being borderline useless most of the time), especially in group events, which hurts the replay value.

Atleast in my case, I haven’t got 100% on any character, only 2 has about 80-90%, and every other have here and there, including that I have just stopped revisiting the old maps, few reasons to revisit them are mostly getting resources and daily achievements.

Imagine Elite spec! :P

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Just for fun, possible elite specs, alot of details or abit details, even if impossible depending on situation…

Background (if any): “Cultist of the Order”
This akin towards Cultists of the Order, Reapers could be aknowledged as “Reapers of the Order”. The Order could be a newly formed group, perhaps purely only Necromancers this time, or however it could be done.
It’s also a bit of reference to the Order in GW1, which had mostly necromancers, but had 1 elementalist and othervise not much information given about.

Elite Spec name: Cultist
Elite spec could expand the life-steal options and buff themselves and nearby allies. Revel in blood of your enemies, while buffing yourself and allies with Orders.

Elite Spec weapon: Sword main-hand and off-hand
Allows combo with current Blood magic weapon Dagger…

Elite Spec modifier: Blood Shroud and Life Bond
Instead of lifeforce, shroud is charged up by attacks as usual, especially more with life-stealing skills. Activate to enter Blood Shroud, most skills will add buff that causes lifesteal, while lets say “Skill 5” is called Life Bond, that will end the Blood Shroud, disable the Blood Shroud and create life tethers to 5 nearby allies, life force is expended at x% on 1 second intervals, healing and granting Regeneration. Or Life Bond is separate Profession skill mapped on F2…

Skill type: Orders (Similar to Thief Venoms)
Orders will be aking towards temporary buffs with additional effect, perhaps additional effect after expending all the charges of the current active Order buff, casting Orders could sacrifice x% from current maximum HP.
Examples: Order of Pain (direct dmg), Order of the Defiler (convert boons), Order of the Vampire (life-steal), Order of Suffering (condition dmg), Order of Undeath (Anti-down or temporary revival granting Blood Shroud to ally/allies at cost of “siphoned blood”)…

Example skill:
Order of Pain: Sacrifice x% HP, you and 5 nearby allies will deal +x damage for x next attakcs, after using the last charge causes detonation that deals x damage to nearby enemies and steals x life for the buffed player/ally.

For certain those who have issue with players who RP in MMORPG, it’s annoying to look at the players attacking them for no good reason, as most of them clearly have “RPers are losers” mentality, despite themselves playing a RPG game.

With Nature Magic, if you use Main-hand Axe (+Sigil of Strength), you can pretty quickly grant your pet 25 stacks of might amongst other boons, then just “We heal as one” to pile up the pre-existing boons on you and your pet…

Ember Bay and "stun" transfer bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

Problem that seems to only affect Necromancers.

The source might be from the Thermal tubes and the stun-like effect it applies is considered a condition and is possible to transfer with Plague Signet (stuns the player) and “Necromantic Corruption” (stuns a minion) trait.

It’s easily to replicate, just have Necromancer near Thermal tubes while having Plague Signet and “Necromantic Corruption” with a single minion, resulting transfer of the said “stun” back and forth between the Necromancer and the minion.

Considering how Gleam looked (https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Baby_Dragon), I found the design of Aurene to be insultingly stupid. It does not relate to the old art direction, it does not relate to how Glint looked, it does not relate even to its importance and scope. But hey, it’s cute so the masses will love it, right!?

Probably because the elder dragons haven’t reproduced to create another elder dragon, but only created dragon champions or “lesser dragons”.

As for GW1 Gleam, it was clearly easier to resize Glint model and use it instead, laziness of the ANets part, being only hexapod dragon model in whole GW1.

On another thought, the new chapter confirmed that Gleam is real and could be still alive, somewhere hidden (or at worst dead). Since Aurene is the Second Scion.

Worrysomely weak destroyers (spoilers)

in Living World

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

The map isn’t about fighting they stated it in the behind the scene it’s about exploring and enjoying the details in the area.

Sadly I have to disagree, the combat mechanics of the game are the primary things that make the game playable, map exploration comes after that.

I imagine that this is exactly what it is – an introduction (or tease) of what to expect. Remember LS S2 Episode 1, with the ‘overgrown’ sylvan hounds and husks? they were basically the same enemy but a bit tougher, with the odd vine here and there. I think this is a similar phase for the destroyers. (Remember everyone, we’re only on the second episode thus far. We still have a few more to go.)

Ye, the part where we went to fight the ghosts in the Fort Salma was a ultimate disappointment, the ghosts were given extreme boost on HP, to make up their broken skills that did almost nothing to player if not given time to activate.

It’s open world and it should be easy. Do I have to remind you of all the whining in the forum of ‘too hard’ mobs in HOT? It’s fine like this. We will get harder enemies in instances (hopefully). Oh and the Jade Armors/Bows are on the right spot. Especially if you ignore the Ether Seals :-)

But the mobs should never be like what the core mobs are:

  1. Low Armor.
  2. High HP.
  3. Generic skills with almost no effects.
  4. Super easy to defeat with full berserker and “stand-spam” tactic.
  5. Due to lack of effects, most game mechanics were mostly useless and players tend to not learn the game mechanics unless they play PvP.

PvE should reflect some of player capabilities, as to give different builds viability, thus increasing the replay value.

As stated before, HoT did a good job on making the combat more engaging, rather than making it “full berserker stand-spam”. Anyone could play Support and Control builds there without being useless during group events, and these builds alsop had impact on solo roaming, when Direct dmg DPS wasn’t able to kill mobs with “stand-spam” tactic.

Well, I now reached it and I’m abit disappointed on lack of boon usage once more, and mobs seem to be mostly condition heavy (condition manipulation isn’t out of the consideration atleast) but still the baseline core game destroyers with few rather uninspired upgrades…

"Character model limit" potential

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Currently, I’ve noticed that the “Character model limit” does what it says, reduces number of player models (and sadly also NPC models on PvE).

But the biggest flaw of the option: skill graphical effects are displayed from the "not loaded player models (invisible), which maximizes the visual clutter.

Perhaps the current “Effect LOD” does something to reduce this, but by logic “Character model limit” should completely remove skill graphical effects from invisible players.

And well, once more I go into the issue of the currect “Character model limit”:
The option makes NPCs invisible in PvE, which makes it annoying and impractical, forcing players to put higher settings just to not loose track of NPCs during zerg-fests.

Suggestions:

  1. Split “Character model limit” into “Player model limit” and “NPC model limit”, or improve the current one with automatic recognision of PvE and PvP mode.
  2. Make “Character model limit” also remove skill graphical effects from invisible players, right now it plays all skill graphical effects regardless of setting.
  3. Priorities depending on gamemode

PvE:

  1. NPCs and Effects
  2. Players and effects in squads or parties (no brainer, rather see your party members than unknown player during zerg)
  3. Other players.

PvP:

  1. Players and effects in squad
  2. Players and effects
  3. NPCs and effects

New weapon types and future elite specs

Personally I am against using new skill sets on a class’s existing weapons. Something about it just feels incredibly underwhelming. It would be effective in terms of gameplay, but not getting access to the vast amount of new skins and losing access to the vannilla skillset of a weapons will leave players angry. There would have to be some sort of extreme compensation for not getting a new weapon, and the only thing i could think of that would be big enough would be something like elementalists getting a 5th attunement for all their weapons.

I guess 5th attunement for Elementalist Elite, would be “Elemental Attunement”, but with it’s own functionalities.

Well, Necromancers need a elite specialization with more minions while using the Life force to raise them, like what it was during GW2 development, but was abandoned.

Ooh, nice Golemancer idea. Golems, golems everywhere!

Well, just slinging names for Necro elite specializations, what would be a evil dark fantasy professions:
Soul Weaver (Life force based stuff maybe, healer type that can reverse death by giving them life force), Lord of Bones (Minion master kind of elite), Lord of Flies (dunno, insect, locusts and disease condition), Hellraiser (Sounds like a Torch related Elite, and maybe call demonic aspects bound into minions), Dark Alchemist (similar to the idea made by Lonami), Defiler (More potent corrupter? Or infectious Life Force that can be turned into explosive or more suffering), Cultist (bleeding to extreme, more powerful blood magic and health sacrifice in exchange of powerful effects), Undertaker (lol, just LOL, but could be a minion based elite)

Well, I just managed to make myself excited with the Hellraiser idea I just slapped together…

Demonic aspects bound into minions, creating monstrosities with piece of demonic power and monstrous appearance to boot.

Torch skills to spread suffering, disease and curses which might as well rend flesh from bones or make it rot and deform. Same torch skills have empowering effect on demonic minions which prolongs their life force and some traits could empower minions as they suffer more detrimental effects.

Unique Condition: Disease
Due to the Demonic aspects being partly uncontrollable, the magics utilized by Hellraisers are more likely to inflict painful diseases, even the demonic minions are prone to carry disease due to unstable existense which subjects the vessel to eventually rot away.

Margonite Minions, Torment Minions, Titan Minions, Shadow Minion (I quess this isn’t viable as one already exists), Nightmare Minions (if the Oni and Kanaxai are tied to other demonic races) and Stygian Minions, demon aspects based on demons that do exist in Tyria. As said before the demonic minions are unstable and subjected to rot, meaning they will die eventually by themselves, unless powered up by Hellraisers flames and magics.

I sincerely doubt they would to this kind of armor which is usable only by humans: asuras have furr-ish stripe-ish thing, charr have furr, sylvari have leaves and norns already have tattoos.

But I would love it for my characters!

Asura Body-paint-machine! Paint your body, no problem. Note: Warranty doesn't extenct to unexpected permanent neon pink fur color.

Well, Necromancers already have a face paint, the skull paint looks kitten on Charr, too bad it wasn’t that detailed on humans, like what you could see on tv or some modernized voodoo.

Just google “skull face paint” or “voodoo face paint”…

Don’t forget that they also have to make the loin cloth and chest wrap, which also isn’t a huge ordeal.
