As the topic title says, partially, but here’s complete suggestion:
Separate NPC and player character model limit settings.
The separation of character model limit from player characters and NPC, for PvE it would be an improvement, but doesn’t do good for WvW or sPvP.
If the “Character model quality” option still affects NPCs, then that too should be separated into NPC and player model quality settings.
Since it’s a same old problem with this unified option, we have invisible NPCs, especially during events with large number of player participation.

I tested my Ranger, with full Exotic Berserker with Longbow, with +200 power for 30 sec on kill, +10% crit dmg and t5 maintance oil. 30-30-0-0-10 stats for maximum damage possible for Longbow.
I was in cursed shore, killing risen
Did the highest 3.5k crits before Feature Pack update.
After patch, +200 power for 30sec on kill, +10% crit dmg got changed to 70 ferocity.

Split a Warrior from another MMO and get: Warrior, Guardian
Copy Hunter and get: Ranger
Copy Wizard and get: Elementalist
Copy Thief and get: Thief
Mix Wizard and Hunter and get: Necromancer
Mix Warrior and Hunter and get: Engineer
Mix Thief and Hunter and get: MesmerIs it time for more unique professions? I’d like to see one of the most impressive professions I’ve ever played in an MMO and this was an Enchanter in DDO. A Wizard specialized in mind controlling foes that changed side.
In GW2 it would be interesting to balance such a profession but it’d be possible by turning hostile foes into neutral NPCs, who fight against red NPCs but attack players who do too much damage to them.
I always loved to interact with hostile NPCs more than just beat them down.
Psionic/Enchanter
wearing light armor using
focus (main hand/off hand)
staff
club (main hand)Skills could be various NPC enchantments that have condition effects. And turn a Player hostile for 10 Seconds (like Moa) and make him use his equipped skills against his friends.
The idea is to make the Enchanter squishy like an Ele but short-term and indirectly powerful like a GS Warrior.
Is it time for a new profession?
Uh, you forgot that we have a mind controlling class, it’s called Mesmer, who have undernames like Enchanter too, well in GW1 it was. And Mesmers also have Elite skill named “Polymorph” which turns enemy player/NPC into moa/tuna…
Ranger, Warrior, Elementalist and thief are rather basic professions anyway.
I know, when Tengu become playable race, they bring us 2 professions:
Kenshi (Blademaster)
Miko (Monk like profession, but not a healer class)
Just joking…

Maybe a good suggestion:
Megaserver system has base variable lines that sorts players…
Players have their own template for customized variables, which the megaserver system reads over it’s own set of variables, if such template is created.
But might still have some unforseen consequenses if such existed, very likely…

Sheer confusion…
If they remove “dead” accounts, it’s more like destroying them, and cannot return.
If you mean removed from your world, I dunno, propably someone goes offline for a month and returns back to choose a new world without paying transfer costs to a more active world.
Amount of “dead” accounts depend more on the players themselves, if they get bored on GW2, they are most likely offline, alot…
What does “MoD” stand for?

Is there suggestion for option to make HUD elements not to block AoE-circle targeting.
Especially the Target info on top of the HUD.
Since it’s annoying to quick-cast AoE spells on my own feet
(Yes, when player uses an AoE skill, if the mouse pointer is over some hud element, the targeting circle will be placed under said player’s own character’s feet).
Even more annoying if the AoE skill has long recharge and affects only foes…

You might wanna keep from using the stones, they’ll be converted into transmutation charges, one charge = one tm crystal.
As stones are usable up until 79, after that they’re pretty worthless right now, but after the feature pack update, all stones are converted into charges at 3:1 ratio (3 stones becomes 1 charge and 1 charge = 1 crystal)
Although the rune transfer question does make me wonder how that works after the feature pack update.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
Sounds nice, it could be limited so only lvl 80 players get access to skill points gained by other lvl 80 in the account.
But I don’t think it would happen.
It’s possible that in future we can create Scrolls of Knowledge at a price of skill point and other materials, like in GW1 last expansion “Eye of the north”.

I hope they do add this option; the ability of people to ‘follow’ you without your consent and the inability for you to delete them, is ridiculous. This option would deal with the issue the OP has (although frankly the half-wits in the OP’s screenie ought to be removed from GW) and ensure that you are only seen by whom you want to be seen by.
So blocking them won’t stop them from following. It will remove them from followers list tho.
But if they keep on harassing you, even after you’ve blocked them, since their chat messages won’t come through, maybe add them to your friends, see if they keep on throwing names and kitten, then propably report them for verbal abuse and block them again.
To OP, sounds very nice but I don’t think ANet would add something like that.
Propably all you can do is only block them as they appear, this should block their chat bubbles too.
The worst cases require reporting as “Selling Gold”, “Verbal Abuse” or “Spamming”.
And setting new chat tabs will also work, where you filter to show Guild and Friends channels.

No, they’re not the same thing.
A server merge only affects low population servers. A server merge does nothing for higher population servers.
With this plan, a person playing off hours on ANY server, will have people to play with. With a server merge, that’s not true.
I’m telling you that if the busiest servers NOW have dead zones at certain times, then a server merge won’t help smaller servers. It’ll make them like bigger servers.
Bigger population events WILL be populated….most of the maps will be dead.
Server merges do NOT solve that problem. The meta server does. The megaserver is not another name for server merge.
Pretty much what Megaserver system does.
If map gets over populated, the system starts dropping players to maps with players from same world, guild and also drops friends to same map. Propably also takes latency into account.
It wont drop everyone in same map if certain conditions are met.
Low population ones, now, I’ve seen only botters in maps like cursed shore and others. Some random train comes from time to time to do the boss events, after which they are gone.
The system would pile all players in the low/“dead” populated maps from different worlds into one map copy.
This is what I’ve understood about the Megaservers.

Whole bar scene, was to find some form of feel of victory, since everyone heard the dragon scream when it awoke.
You win, but then you hear something very bad has still awoken, ofcourse you squeeze some jokes.
Also since 2 of your comrades almost died, but thankfully left with light lacerations, a broken leg and some broken ribs.
About feeling for person who were forcefully put into their place, it depends on alot of things.
Even if we found out that Scarlet was slowly driven mad with endless whispering from the dragon, it’s still hard not to dehumanize her, as she ended up killing thousands.
People can go mad, no matter what type of person you are, but actions pretty much dictates the reaction of others.
However, we also found out that since Scarlet’s campaing of death, destruction and awakening of a dragon, there is now circulating extreme opinions towards whole sylvari race, by the NPCs, who are not really seen saying their insults and fears in person yet,
but from few survivors in the refugee camps exclaiming how people have started judging sylvari race according to Scarlet’s actions, not by the good done by the rest of the sylvari race.
But then we have the category of ones who were forced to do it,
and those who are not forced into doing it and tend to judge the other category.
Would propably put Army and Citizens into those categories.
Even if members of army do things not considered human, some are actually forced to that, if the result is either hundreds more dead and enemy slipping away to plan their next act of mass murder or enemy along with civilians they used as meat shield.
Because of the bad things done by few bad people in army, Citizens tend to judge army as a evil organization, regardless if there are more members of the army that go by the book and follow the laws of humanity…
Humans always have bad habit of painting everything black and white, some do learn that following such idea will make them very inhumane,
as followers of black and white tend to dehumanize some societies because of horrors done by 1 or more person of that society…
The bitter irony is that extremely bad and inhuman people come from any ethinicity, society and etc.
If in GW examples, White mantle, Bandits, Nightmare court, Inquest, Flame Legion, Separatists, Renegades, Mursaat, Pirates, etc.
Do note some organizations are multi-racial…

Maybe just punish ressing dead, not reviving downed.
Tho some have suggested that dead players should be, (after set amount of time spent lying dead or being defeated set amount of times) forcefully auto-res, randomly on any of the “map entrance” waypoints.
I guess they also talked about it being only in PvE, not in dungeons.
Although I read that players who spend set time lying dead, lose their difficulty ramp up stack, so events and bosses will scale down to number of living players.
I have been thinking about forcing long dead players to loose their contribution, but there’d be more problems in that…

You should also consider that GW2 is still young.
We just have to give it more time.
Even GW1 suffered from serious power creep and skills that were impractical for any use. A lot of imbalanced builds, gimmick, etc. which were nerfed the kitten out of them…
GW1 had alot of rebalancing patches, and it took quite long time, before all skills were balanced…
Monks in GW1 never got viable way to utilize their Smiting Prayers stat in PvP or PvE, even the only skill that made them viable (More like ridiculously powerful than any other monk build in PvP) was “Smiter’s Boon”, which’ PvP split was nerfed the kitten and life out of…
In PvE, Smiter’s Boon is still the most viable skill in Smiting Prayers…

I’ve watched nearly all vids and trailers of GW2, I always see the ESRB content rating warning in the beginning of each video.
“Blood” ???
“Mild language”
“Use of alcohol”
“Violence”
I don’t understand the “blood” in GW2, there’s no graphical bleeding, like one would see in games like FPS, other than trail effect of skills that inflict bleeding and bleeding condition damage icons.
These two effects are made to make it recognisable when player is using such skill or is suffering from the condition.
There’s no blood splatter or such decals that occurs during combat in GW2.
Except for the 3 static blood splatter decals in Brisban Wildlands near Gallowfields Waypoint, at the canyon entrance.
These 3 are the only blood splatters I’ve seen so far.
There might be more of these static decals in GW2, but there’s no graphics that show a character actually bleed blood fluid particles and leave these splatters.
Or is the use of word “bleeding” enough to make people see “blood” and earn this content rating?

Thoughts about Zergs…
Since GW2 is already limiting buffing to 3-5 with AoE buffs.
Maybe that zergs get debuffed with speed reduction, and any speed increasing buffs will be stripped immedietely when applied, if the number of players exceed certain number within certain range. This could work, but might need additional changes in WvW mechanics…
Since party of 5 can buff themselves up without problems, it would be speed advantage to be in party, or 10, since warrior warhorn “Charge” skill affects 10+caster.
Maybe expanding the current WvW traps, so there’s some traps that can AoE slow large number of people (debuff that can’t be removed, reduces movement speed for x seconds, doesn’t stack by using two or more traps at same spot, instead lasts longer depending the number of players hit by the trap).

Ok, I found a function which locks on button press the “soft target”.
“Target next” (I noticed that the real name of the function is actually “Next enemy” in control options-targeting section)
This button locks on soft target, but will act like normal “Target next” if you don’t clear or kill the current hard target.
However it’s prone to picking wrong target, since it’s two targeting functions in one and seems to be affected by the targeting priority bug (Takes Yellows over reds)…

Like warriors with their Bow related traits? Dunno if they’re gonna be fixed in the upcoming Feature update, since “Stronger bowstrings” trait changed all of the warrior longbow skills, and gave them 100% Projectile finisher Dual Shot and Fan of Fire.

Aztek faces, pretty much redrawn into Asuran styled structures.

I’d rather have a checkbox in the target options that makes my skills automatically use the soft target if no other target is hard-locked. That would be a dream to play.
Well, there’s “Promote skill target” in General options, which automatically locks and uses skill on “soft target” in the middle of the screen, thus “hard targeting” it.
This doesn’t allow you to break target by soft targeting other foe while you have a hard target.
You can switch target with “Target next” or “Target nearest” (You might have to use the button more to go through all targets in range), or use left mouse button to click on nothing to clear the “hard target” or to select another target
(Which doesn’t work if you have right mouse button held down).
Then we have “Autotargeting”, this promotes soft target, but doesn’t hard lock, which is lost if I move my camera, so that the soft targeted foe is no longer in middle of my screen.
My problem with this is quite same as double tab WASD to dodge, there’s more chance for mistake, I press skill 1, and I accidently lock on and attack wrong monster and get unwanted aggro,
or with dodge, I might accidently doubletap WASD direction, which then spends 50 endurance on nothing.
But that is my style of playing the game, I like to confirm(Lock on desired target) before action(Use skills in bar).
Thus I use left ALT button to execute dodge, so I can freely use WASD+hold down right mouse button for mobility. “Promote skill target” doesn’t work for me, since I either have to use left mouse button or “target xxx” set buttons.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
Is there anyone who uses this function?
It’s in “Targeting” section of Control options.
For those who don’t understand that:
It locks(or is called as “Hard target”) on the target which is in center of the screen and has it highlighted(or is called as “Soft target”), showing it’s name and healthbar above the target.
It locks on aslong as you hold the button down.
I haven’t found it very useful,
since my play style is left-handed WASD, ALT to dodge, right-mousebutton turn camera, CTRL to show enemy names, SHIFT to show allied names and targeting buttons that lock on targets.
Though the current targeting bugs have been messing up stuff, like priority of yellow over red and foes behind and near edges of screen are targeted instead.
I didn’t like the automatic functions either (General options: “Autotargeting” and “Promote skill target”), as I didn’t find it very free function, as it limits my skill usage, could accidently lock on and start auto-attack, and cause unwanted aggro, etc.
In my opinion, either make a new function that works like “Lock Autotarget” (Hold to lock your autotarget), which instead just locks on highlighted target with one press of the button “Lock Autotarget” (Lock your autotarget),
or change the current “Lock Autotarget” (Hold to lock your autotarget) into one.

Because changing area that is tied to the personal story of newly created characters would break it and immersion.
But you do know that we have defeated Zhaitan, but got no kill confimation.
Zhaitan fell into the ruined city of Arah, we never get to venture there to confirm the kill…
There’s even possibility that defeat means only that the dragon goes back to thousand years long hibernation to recover. That the weapons we had weren’t enough to kill it.

Well, problem also seem to stem from the messed up Target priority, which keeps Neutral targets higher priority right now.

Targeting seem to be acting weird now, I haven’t noticed this until recently.
Targeting now takes targets according to the camera fov, not according to the character.
“Target nearest” still takes the distance to the player character into account when targeting.
This results in targeting something in camera view, but behind my character.
I remember targeting only locking on enemies infront of the character.
Also it seems to be messing up with priorities on neutral targets, like neutral firefly in camera view but behind the character is targeted instead of hostile skritt infront of my character…
Ofcourse the firefly is closer to the player character than the skritt in the scenario.
Anyone else having this kind of problem?

Flaw of the “Holy Trinity” is that some classes WILL get excluded from teams.’
That would be thieves propably, since they’re mainly 1 target burst-DPS class which doesn’t work in places where AoE is favored.
Also Healers would then be mandatory, you can’t go anywhere else without a healer.
Give GW2 time, it’s still young. There will be content that would be impossible with the old “Holy Trinity”.

I find it generally annoying, since targeting nearest seem to sometimes take targets behind the character.
Atleast targeting high ranking NPCs seem to work, “target next” picks the champion first from the mob.
Would be nice if there’d be a way to manually lock on highlighted target, instead of choosing either “Hold to lock on highlighted target” or “automatic promote skill target”.
I won’t use word “autotarget” since it can be confusing, instead “highlighted target”, which highlights the target in the middle of the screen.
Hold to lock, I haven’t found any good button for it, since holding button would restrict hand movement during combat.
Automatic promote skill target doesn’t give the flexibility to switch targets when needed. Since clearing target requires either pressing ESC button which cancels any action and require to be pressed again if skill was canceled, or left-clicking on ground which doesn’t work if right mouse button is held down, or the area left clicked has some targetable standing on.

Simply that standard crafting is pretty much left incomplete.
Can someone make full exotic berserker? No, temples only offer specific sets, PS gives masterwork, WvW vendors only offer soldier/invader stats and guild stuff goes up to rare.
Want to have a normal looking back item, like a quiver with arrows or gsword sheath? Not possible, only flashy ascended or limited temple stats.
This in turn makes ascended/legendary vs. exotic gap larger.
It’s also that ascended/legendary isn’t a requirement to play the whole game!
Also in mind that devs promised that “elite” (ascended/legendary) gear won’t be better than standard high grade gear and it’ll be based on player skills. Like in GW1.

Right now to get all effects on NPCs, you have to set “Character model limit” to highest possible setting.
This is painful to PCs/Macs with lower performance, especially when players horde the area to kill Champs/Legendaries…
Otherwise leaving the setting to “Lowest” commonly results in:
NPCs standing instead of using the correct animation.
Invisible monsters due to loading delay, sometimes they never load at all.
Lack of ghostly effects and etc.
Changing setting on “Character model quality” only affects player characters.
This all began since the character culling was removed.
I discovered this few months ago, while searching for the “NPC quality settings”.

I’ve found out sometime ago that NPC model quality is controlled by “Character Model Limit” graphics setting. It’s abit ridiculous in my opinion, as PvE quality is lower just because quality is affected by the option that reduces the number of models shown and no other option affect this.
This seems to also result in “monsters with no models” in some occasions, along with invisible “power” attacks.
Ghostly effects for example, found them missing since the “character culling” was removed, until sometime later discovered how to restore the quality.
