Pretty much DR (Diminishing Returns) would more likely to trigger if you start repeating same content.
Atleast on wiki, dungeons have minimum timer for DR of 30 minutes.
Perhaps same applies to PvE, once you kill the same mob second time, DR starts to tick and add up, refreshing the timer and adding more points…
But dunno, it could be 1 hour or more for PvE, since it’s easier to repeat, than dungeons usually.
Best way to not invoke DR, would be to move to another map and do stuff there.

Pretty much what I had in mind is to FORCE players to move.
It’s always that you don’t add bosses that doesn’t require anything else than just stand on 1 spot and attack.
Also why to give more abilities to starting area world bosses: To give new players a first taste of dynamic world boss encounters, instead of just begin their adventure by lazing on one spot.

The Megadestroyer could charge up a deadly AoE attack while he is in the lava. Charging could take like 45-60s, so you either need to get him out of the lava during that time or get him down to the next phase. The AoE should be evadable to prevent trolling. He should also do more damage while standing in the lava.
Ooh, nice ideas!

Well, atleast they could salvage Polearms out of the Spear weapons for land use.
Spearguns? Dunno if they load them with arrows instead or something…
Well, if they get something, perhaps Daggers and some other weapons could be used underwater, but I dunno what else tho.

OP’s obvious goal (needed or not) is to get infusion slots for Exotic gear, so I fear all these (very good) suggestions are being shoved aside to continue focusing on the OPs real goal. All the suggestions being made are wasted (IMO), as the OP is likely already aware of them and doesn’t really want those “solutions” to the “dilemma”.
If some content (besides higher Fractals) presents itself in game that requires AR in a more general sense (i.e. Mursaat show back up), I’ll back this request, but until then, it’s simply not needed. It also removes some incentive for pursuing Ascended gear (in a very narrow segment of players), which I doubt Anet wants to take away.
I also find the idea of Fractal player without access to Laurels rather far fetched.
Pretty much to give infusions more use and to extent possibility for Mursaat, their homelands and other possiblilties of Agony using monsters to have a chance of appearing, rather than having dragon slaughter them all in the background…
Yet again, did GW1 players have incentive to get Elite armors…

Except doing so will make mursaat never return…
Since the war on kryta never extended to the isles of janthir, from where Mursaat came from. So they might have written them off as being killed off by a dragon in the background…
Perhaps could say it’s same fate as gargoyles, disappear without anyone noticing.
Still, limiting content to ascended and infusions, is still pretty much denying access and making ascended a requirement, so grind again…
Tho, unless it was an expansion that must be bought, then it’s a different matter.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
ANet just needs to update existing dungeons to contain mechanics that would completely decimate Full zerker teams (5 full zerker players in a party) and prevent event skipping…
Just that the content in dungeons is still all damage and HP, with very little armor or versatility…

You can upgrade your agony infusions to +10 AR and then put it on your 5 trinkets, no need to craft any ascended gear to get 50 AR.

Great Jungle Wurm
This one’s also quite simple, dies quite quick.
- Perhaps increase on the numbers of the healing Husks could do some good for it. Requiring players to bring soft and hard CC to slow down the husks from getting near the wurm.
- Other might be slight increase of damage fields, thus making support more desirable.
Modniir Ulgoth
Well, I don’t have ideas for this one.
TitusI think the more presenting issue should be during its second phase where Ulgoth summons massive (and sadly easy peasy) elemental hands on the field. A simple massive buff and more deadly attacks should give the zerg a good run for its money.
Shadow Behemoth
Again to make the lazy bums to move…
- Portal phases could possibly heal the Behemoth, so that they should be destroyed within set time limit. Failure to do so could heal the Behemoth by 25% and spawn large number of underworld monsters.
- Behemoth’s spit could remain longer on the ground, dealing constant damage, poison and some other conditions, thus becoming Area Denial.
- Behemoth Shards could become objects, which deal damage and heal/buff nearby underworld monsters, until they’re destroyed.
Golem MK II
In my opinion, this one has quite good mechanics already, Very Deadly Area Denial and some attacks.
- Perhaps the “machine gun” attack could also launch players, who’re just lazing around.
Claw of Jormag
Again, elimination of the blind spots and the bugged hitbox when it flies away before below 50%.
- Propably doesn’t need any other change, as long as the blindspots are removed.
Karka Queen
Even though this one is classified as a “Hardcore” world boss, it sure doesn’t feel like it tho.
- Perhaps give her some phases, that causes her to run away to one of her other spawning spots to trash around and calls some Karka to assist her. This could be enough to make her truly “Hardcore”…
Well, what would make good for them?
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
(edited by FrostSpectre.4198)
Well, pretty much about World bosses that have blindspots and lazy “111”.
What do you think? Also good suggestion is not stupid sarcasm or jokes.
Even some of my suggestions are not good, neither are everyone else
Suggestions here are not to make the world bosses HARDCORE!!!
Unless there’s a good reason for one to become one, but I’m not suggesting any of that…
This contains some suggestions made by others, but I don’t remember who they were.
Taidha Covington or “Hydra queen”
Pretty much only problem now is the “Taidha can’t attack players due to certain exploit with conditions”. ANet ONLY FIXED the “dying and repeating lines bug”, not the “Pacifist Taidha bug”.
- Make Taidha immune to Immobilize could be solution.
- Perhaps use firebombs to add some Area Denial, make the lazy bums to move
Svanir Shaman Chief or “Maw”
This one’s fight is quite simple, so players can use pretty passive combat styles.
- Perhaps there should be additional phases of immortality, requiring players to kill lesser shaman lackeys (Reuse Shamans of Ice, Hail and Frost) who channel their spell to make the chief immortal.
- Encourage use of CC to interupt the spell they channel, maybe make it that all lackeys must be CCed within time window, or they start immedietely channelling again.
- Also could expand the Svanir Mist portals and personal guards to make more appearances, than just the initial phase.
- Make him move! Or teleport for that matter. The biggest problem whenver I fight this world boss is that the frame rate drops to dangerously low rates. Plus as stated in many world bosses, the zerg only needs to AFK fight while pressing a bunch of 1’s.
- The AoE’s should actually target the players. To improve the emphasis of a world boss, the AoE’s should be where they threaten the player. Basically, they have to dodge or die should they be in range of those player-targeted AoE’s. Not be in a fixed position to the point where the zerg ignores it altogether.
Megadestroyer
Well, myself I see the Megadestroyer being vulnerable to Immobilize is quite a problem. Most of the time Megadestroyer is rooted on the lava, which makes ranged attacks only viable, and Megadestroyer doesn’t always get to hit players attacking him.
- Immunity to Immobilize
- Perhaps placement of the minions that spawn during phases.
- Possible to add more veteran minions to kill, perhaps even “Destroyer Wurms” that spawn on the lava and are supposed to be killed with ranged attacks, these would spit blobs of lava that acts as area denial and could be fatal to lazy fools.
The Megadestroyer could charge up a deadly AoE attack while he is in the lava. Charging could take like 45-60s, so you either need to get him out of the lava during that time or get him down to the next phase. The AoE should be evadable to prevent trolling. He should also do more damage while standing in the lava.
Fire Elemental
As of now, this is the fastest World boss to kill.
I dunno exactly what to update on this one, could do good…
- Fire Elemental shield powered by veteran Embers, which renders the Elemental highly resistant to damage?
- Possibly the Fire elemental shattering into smaller ones when near death, and teleports each piece to one area inside Thaumanova structure, where misplaced creatures spawn?
The Shatterer
Boss that is quite the laugh for players, due to heavy use of blindspots and has useless abilities that don’t pretty much hit anything…
Well, the obvious things would be to eliminate the blindspots, boost the current abilities and add some more.
- Give Shatterer a stampede attack, which causes the dragon champ to trash around, possibly killing anyone that dares to stand near it.
- Serious boost to the Healing Crystals, not destroying these in time could heal Shatterer to 80% HP.
- Give dragon minions temporary immortality, so that they get to spawn and attack players, since they’re pretty much slaughtered before they “fully exist”. Other possibility could be a solution regarding mobs being vulnerable when spawning into the world.
- Possibly give immortality phases, which are countered by the cannons and mortars, which are then mass attacked by branded monsters, technically killing all spawned branded around the cannons and mortars should be enough, after this cannons can be used to strip down Shatterer’s immortality. Charr specialist carrying special rounds could be waiting for the Branded minion threat to be quelled, thus they will load the cannons.

Since it seems that Ascended are not gonna be nerfed into being Prestige armor, instead they could do this instead:
Make it possible to upgrade Exotic (perhaps even Rare, but dunno about it) gear to have Infusion slots, the grind with Infusions seems good as necessary evil.
They said that “You don’t need Ascended gear to play whole game”, so why not? I can’t play Fractals beyond lvl 10, since I don’t have ascended, and there’s the some cases that inflict unavoidable agony on beyond lvl 10…
Give us the possibility of playing all of GW2 without needing to make ascended, thus giving ascended and Legendary the PRESTIGE TAG THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE.
Since Fractals are quite limited by requiring the player to grind for ascended gear right now. If they don’t, the agony will prevent them from playing beyond lvl10…
“Fractals give rewards for ascended gear use, so it’s not needed to give Exotic gear the upgrade slots.”
No, by giving the possibilities to Exotic, players can start making their ascended gear and play all of fractals, not forced to make ascended and wait until they have some to play fractals over lvl 10.
“Buy some trinkets with laurels, then play Fractals”
What about those who don’t have laurels at the moment, but barely 400 crafting…
Who knows if there’s gonna be more content that are limited by Agony…
Who knows, if Exotics (and perhaps rares too) can be upgraded with infusions, the Agony CAN BE EXPANDED EVEN FURTHER.

I suspect what you’re really saying, OP, is that the suggested you particularly liked weren’t implemented. There are three possibilies here.
1. Those suggestions are on a list of things to be worked on and Anet is either working on them or plans to.
2. Those suggestions you like are not good or not compatible with the game as envisioned by Anet.
3. Those suggestions are too hard to program, or have other technical issues that aren’t simple to deal with and thus not financially feasible to include in the game.

Well, 2 handed axes, well, I don’t believe it’s possible…
Except if they’re Polearms, more like Halberds (axe-spearhead, they’re literally 2handed axes. Some spears in GW2 follow the concept of Halberd in their appearance), which ANet could get by converting already existing Spears into “amphibious” weapons. Warriors are first to get them. Some professions could use them as throwing spears, maybe Guardians and possibly Rangers.
For casters, it would be Scythe, Necromancers being atleast 1 profession which I think would use it. Perhaps if Dervishes are somehow reintroduced to GW2, since the art was lost on destruction of the Order of the Sunspears, according to the lore…

- Mesmer (Aggro/Combat support, brings in additional assist with clones and phantasms, which then give allies opportunities to attack and pull out when needed.)
Aggro, to me, seems to be a form of control, not directly support. For support, there’s a lot of possible things; converting conditions to boons, stripping boons, stealing boons, sharing boons, they could even have something like “boon lock” that stops targets from getting certain boons.
- Thief (Aggro/Combat support, can give nearby allies stealth to break aggro and apply venoms to allies’ weapons)
Sounds sweet. I’m not a big thief player but again, aggro seems a control type of support.
- Engineer (Bunker Down support, offers good variety of defense turrets, can also buff, remove conditions and boons with elixirs, can also inflict a quick burst of conditions)
I think Eng should be in the same boat as Ele, being able to fine-adjust their level of support and other capabilities by their traits and bundles.
Yeah, I did rush with thief and Mesmer, didn’t remember the boon manipulation skills…
Thief can also steal boons and give them along with long duration Vigor (10 seconds, you could say that 5 seconds is worth of 1 dodge) to allies. Even give allies first strike boost with certain trait that gives might, fury and swiftness to nearby allies on steal.
Engineer forgot that they too share same design of being Jack of All trades, like elementalist…

Well, Mage would be Elementalist…
First thing about being support:
- Deal damage, you don’t get contributions othervise, a design choice to make dedicated healers who don’t attack impossible to use.
If you want Support character, they would be:
- Guardian (Master of support, boon based mostly. Increases armor and heals when supporting, some skills apply boons on each second.)
- Elementalist (Their jack of all trades design allows them to be the most powerful healers, though loses on boons when compared to Guardian.)
- Ranger (Best mobilility based support, since they can spam Regeneration and Swiftness, even give Vigor to nearby allies)
- Warrior (Best Offensive Support, capable of quickly apply offensive boons, has very weak healing capabilities, can buff and revive allies with Battle Standard)
- Necromancer (Condition and Boon manipulation support, not quite potent healer, but seems to cover it with inflicting conditions and converting boons to conditions on the enemy. Can also bring in small army of minions to soak up damage.)
- Mesmer (Aggro/Combat support, brings in additional assist with clones and phantasms, which then give allies opportunities to attack and pull out when needed.)
- Thief (Aggro/Combat support, can give nearby allies stealth to break aggro and apply venoms to allies’ weapons)

Gear Progression
Yes, that was supposed to be prestige-only on GW2, supposed to have no stat progression beyond Exotic levels, but the Ascended gear pretty much opposes this, including the infusion system that is limited to it.
Yea, Fractals are ascended based rewards, but why not give us choice of not do insane grinding, perhaps only the infusions could remain as grindable part, and play ALL content with our Exotic gear, that could be upgraded to accept infusions…

This is as old as the game; Hostile mobs totally ignoring the friendly NPCs who’re with your char and swarming all over you. Like the friendly NPCs are any help, they die if they get glared at and do squat for damage.

Just steps towards more viable PvE content, since ANet made mistake with the initial designs, being very vulnerable to direct dmg and criticals, while not having significant abilities to make Support, CC or conditions more of a requirement, including that rank ups increased HP and DMG, which worked against conditions, and added the anti-CC buff Unshakable on Champs and upward…

Megaserver improvements:
- Reconnect function (Similar to one in GW1), which reserves a spot for the player and allows you to reconnect back to same map copy, if you were disconnected.
- Map copy listing window (Similar to GW1 “District selection”), which would allow us try connect to more desired map copy. Possibly also allow us to create new map copy, should there be enough players to add “request queue”.
- Reintroduce Queue back to PvE, so that we don’t need to repeat “Join In *” with party, if the map copy we try to join is full.
Other stuff:
- Scythes, more like a magical two-handed melee weapon. Necromancers atleast being one to wield it, dunno what other class would fit to use it.
- Polearms, adapted from underwater Spear weapons, many existing skins are close to Halberd design (axe and spearhead pattern). Not a AoE burst weapon, which is GS’ job. Spears offer more reach, dunno what else they would give. Warriors would be obvious melee fighters to wield polearms. Guardian would instead use them as throwing spears… (Perhaps rangers would either throw or use in melee)
- small update to underwater combat, turns some weapons into amphibious types, Daggers being one good underwater weapon, dunno what else of the existing and possible new weapons could also be added…
- Update existing content to offer more variety, like the new content does. Group content would be affected more by the variety, but Solo play wouldn’t trigger variety spawns. This would increase the use of Support, CC and condition builds, if the mobs are not all just vulnerable to direct damage and critical hits.
- Traits unlock lvl reduced back to lvl 10, no other changes, since the current points reduced to 14 is ok.
- Physical or Racial finishers, that depend on weapon or race, instead of just having stuff fall from sky to kill your foe.

Well, if we get chat options during loading screens…
Why not also have option to display prompt “press ??? key to continue”, when loading completes, this prevents the character from actually entering the world until they are ready and confim the prompt, of course it should be optional, either on or off through settings.

I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
Well, depends alot, like if the mobs have AoE fields that they can cast, close nearby WPs, dungeon limiters and etc.
For PvE:
First thing is AGGRO. Yes, there is aggro system in GW2, go read it, it’s good to know. Gaining and Losing aggro is it’s own set of modifiers.
Do note that some mobs, usually boss mobs in dungeons, might have different aggro behaviour, so they won’t be easily controlled by a tanker/kiter, this is to prevent dedicated tank builds from being useful, other being weaker passive defense.
Well, REVIVING an ally, from downed or defeated, will ALWAYS increase the reviver’s aggro rating to maximum (100%).
So with small group (like in dungeons), reviving during combat will always draw the mobs to attack the player who’se reviving.
Not only loosing DPS, it will very likely result in two players downed, or 1 defeated and reviver downed.
In large group however, more players reviving means that you’re not the only reviver on the top list of targets for mobs.
In this comes the question, if the mobs have AoE attacks that deal heavy damage (applies to small groups too), so then group of revivers are very likely to be annihilated by well placed AoEs, if they are fools, along with the downed player, if not already defeated.
On other hand, reviving defeated player, in order to manage aggro is also useful in some cases. (Tho if the person some random who’s waiting for res, he/she would be kittened…)
I don’t suggest trying to manage aggro with Downed players tho, it could lead the downed becoming defeated…
I’m not sure about the revive speeds tho, but one player said that during combat revive rate is 33% of the outside combat revive rate, this applies to defeated players only.
As for open-PvE content, world bosses and living story mostly, reviving defeated isn’t very good idea in majority of content, since the defeated player could use the nearest WP and run back, which is faster than the 1/3 revive rate per player, in total time spent.
The rare scenarios that have WPs too far away or limited by doors that close after set timer, reviving the defeated is better choice. (So far, only content that favored reviving Defeated players, was the battle with Scarlet’s Holographic image, in the Breachmaker…)
On more casual content, it’s more casual…
However, should there be new content with more “kill-fields” as enviromental hazards, which are so far: Quicksand and Lava.
These two will keep dealing damage to the Defeated player, making reviving near impossible, not to mention that the reviver will also take serious damage, should he/she get the “kill-field buff”…
As of to be best possible reviver, it would be best to be Warrior and use Mercy runes, build to use would be tank, since this involves heavy use of CC.
But majority of the content in GW2 atm, isn’t very friendly to CC, support or conditions…
