[Suggestion] Engineers need more weapons

in Engineer

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Problematic to give other weapons to Engineer…

Mace? Engineer has Tool Kit for literal “Mace”(Wrench)

2h Hammer? Perhaps too cumbersome for class that uses mechanical marvels in combat.

Greatsword? Too cumbersome, tho Engineer’s Flamethrower seem to do same role for quick burst, tho less damage, but the Flamer works well for on hit/crit effects, due to the 10 hits on 2 seconds. Except it’s Retaliation overkill.

Sword? I dunno, Tool Kit is rather versatile, even if it’s a Wrench.

Dagger? Possible, like electrified Dagger, but it’s more like hidden weapon, which doesn’t seem to fit engineer and it’s already “hidden” Toolbelt skills…

Shortbow or Longbow? Maybe too cumbersome too. Additional conditions from Elixir Gun, which shoots darts.

What I fear in this merged topic is always the enormous number of posts, to which posts always sink into and disappear into the sea of good and bad suggestions…

If only they give us the choice to be sorted, instead of being sorted automatically…

Queue back into GW2, against “JoinIn/MapFull/Repeat” efforts.
Reconnect function like in GW1, so that we can reconnect to last map we were disconnected from, not to be thrown into new map copy at the worst possible time.
And the last one is similar system as in GW1 Districts, again our choice to which we want to go, mixed Megaserver, own world map copy…

Just came back from the most hyped Alpha game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

FrostSpectre.4198

3. What GW2 lack compared to A?

a) Housing system

b) Farming system ( this is the main point of me buying alpha pack of A! Plus my guild war 2 game was crash at update since June 2014 patch and need re install, so why not try other game)

c) mount would be good in pve. Disable it in wvw

d) Guild vs guild matchmaking system. 20vs20. (this just my idea to make gw2 the ultimate alpha male of mmorpg)

e) A character creation is better, the face looks very realistic and wide option to choose from

GW2. And, more faces and body type for human!! Please I like this 1 Norn female face (The 1 that without eyebrow)!! Make it into human face too!! and Norn female body is way better than human female body.

f) Naval sea ship battle. Because why you no?

g) Auto walk in A is very nice!! gw2 please make auto walk!!!

a) Housing, many are wishing for that, and why not, tho it’s more to Roleplaying.

b) I hope you don’t talk about removing limiters from “1-spot farming”, since that’s never gonna happen and is idea that kittendrowners only suggest.
Since GW2 is designed that you go on adventure around Tyria, not stay in 1 map on 1 spot and repeat killing same mobs over and over and over again.
But if you meant like Gardening or Farm where you grow crops and farm animals for another source of materials and gold, that the player has to tend to at set intervals. Ok, though I dunno if such thing would be ever added to GW2…

c) Mounts, unfortunately the distances in GW2 are too short for mounts, and Waypoints already cover enough ground, also that ANet will never add mounts, as they have stated and will stay behind that.

d) Hopefully in the future, perhaps when we get access to cantha again.

e) Not much to say at this, since it’s ok to me too.

f) That, and hopefully also airships too, in the future.

g) There is autowalk in GW2, the one which makes you walk/run (Depends on if you toggled between moving speed, which also exists in GW2) without need to hold down W or up arrow button.
Unless you meant “click on map and set auto walker to walk there for you”, I don’t think such will ever come to GW2…

[Suggestion] Scythe Weapon (2Handed)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

I see Scythes were mystic weapons, since GW1.

So that if Dervishes make comeback, it would be Dervish and Necromancers as first classes to get scythes.

Polearms, would be best if salvaged from underwater combat weapon Spears, when overhaul of underwater combat does come, hopefully.

Scythes would be scythes, being magical AoE Two handed.

Polearms would be what is salvaged from Underwater weapons, and be mainly physical, tho can have some exceptions and also be used as ranged weapon, by Guardians for example in underwater right now.

Odd, GW1 has same system, was added some time later or was in the game since beginning, Anti-farm Code as it’s called.

Still, Diminishing Returns promotes adventure, since “1-spot farming” is not an adventure, it’s just repeating act of killing same mobs over and over again in 1 map, very rarely includes moving to another map.

Solution to all the Zerk hating peeps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

FrostSpectre.4198

Well, the whole problem right now is that mobs don’t possess variety in their skills, stats or AI.

Majority mobs are “zerker feed”, or more precisely “Kill with any possible build”.

Some exceptions that exist, but they only appear during world boss events: Partially Digested Husk, Tequatl and Claw of Jormag. Support and condition builds are required…

Though these 3 are pretty much immune to Control right now.

FrostSpectre.4198

GW2 is #1 super casual MMO out there. Players can come back anytime since the best items (legendaries) you can buy is on TP, no need to grind anything!

I recall you’d still have to spend alot of real money on gems, since the conversion rate at the moment isn’t very great, and legendaries cost 2000 gold at minimum, over 5000 at most.

Super casual, naah, you still have to play the game, since the stuff is not given to you on starting to play the game.

Unless you buy gold from gold sellers, that just takes renevue from ANet and can get your account banned, or reverted to some state, short or long before you receive gold from the illegal company…

Or just stolen by the gold seller, because of the things above, the chance that ANet doesn’t restore your account, since buying gold is violation of the rules, and promotion of Pay to win…

Doing The Right Thing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Megaserver’s main problem is the “soft sorting”, which doesn’t seem to work at all when it’s supposed to.

Hopefully we get optional queue system back with “hard sorting” options we can choose from, since Party-JoinInMapCopy clicking is very annoying.
Also some system to allow us to retain our place in map copy, should we get a disconnect, so that we can reconnect back to our original map copy (This kind of system exists in GW1, allows us to reconnect to same instance we were in, to same party, if game crashes or connection is lost).

Megaserver system didn’t save ANet the server costs, every player is still part of the same world they are, the system only puts players together to ensure there’s players on each map, and that there’s no such thing as “Dead map”.

Devs- "VIP" subscription?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

VIP subsciption, like the “free to play players vs. paying players”.

Mostly I’ve seen that people who want Subscriptions, because they want an “easy mode I can pay for”, because of DR system, too hard to move around all game worlds and etc.

Spend some real money on gems, NCsoft takes most of it as I’ve heard, ANet gets a small bit out of gems and gem store…
Since you can buy gems with ingame gold, it’s even more crossed transaction.

All gem store items account bound, so that you can use them on any character. Even the infinite T6 gathering tools are now account bound…

If you’re looking for priviliges and advantages over free playing players, find a new game, since GW2 isn’t a game for you.
Well, if china has some form of laws against BuyAndPlay-No-subscriptions-MMORPGs, well, let them.

If GW2 would get monthly fees, it would die and close up it’s servers very soon, since majority of players are here for the Guild Wars name selling point: No monthly fees.

On one thought, these “ADD MONTHLY FEES TO GW2, BECAUSE I WANT A EASY MODE” topics should be removed the instant, since it serves no innovation or anything to GW2 at all.

A question about GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

The updates pretty much removed the notable “one spot farms”, like queensdale champ train, since the players who did only this, since playing the game is some sort of difficulty, very likely left the game since it was their “only way to play the game”.

Playing the game includes that players move around the game world, not just run circle in 1 map and repeat same thing over and over for easy gold, while others do move around Tyria and do stuff around Tyria.

Anyone familiar with Griffon farm near Augury Rock in GW1? Made it hard for new players to progress their story, when nearly the only thing players did there, was farm griffons for easy gold.
It was nerfed too, eventually.

[suggestion] $15/month = no diminished returns...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Pay to win: “give paying players edge over free to play players”.

If free to play players cannot gather the resources to be on same level as paying player, it’s a pay to win, you can’t get the resources on your own, you need to pay real money to get the gold and crap…

Right now GW2 is play to win, but many players are still obsessed with the 1 spot farming, since moving around the game world is “a world of hurt” and “unfair” to them…

GW2 was designed that players play the game and move around the game world, not stay in 1 map and repeat same action for easy gold.

ANet nerfed griffon farm near augury rock in GW1, since it was 1 spot farm (I figured a name now for farming that occurs in 1 map and repeats there).

Diminishing return is a system to prevent players from gathering into one place and get more than what a adventuring player could get, by repeating the same spot again and again…

It’s also to prevent bots from gaining most resources and then possibly taking over the whole economy for a gold seller, if players think that bots give cheap materials and let them be…
I’ve actually heard that some players think that bots give cheaper materials and thus let them be…

Monthly fees, GW2’s one buying point is that it has no monthly fees.

If such were to be introduced to GW2, it’s a death sentence to the game, and would very likely lead into closing of the servers very soon…

I disagree with this entirely the whole guildwars model was built around “no subscription fee ever” and by adding something like they will cause a huge negative uproar to pretty much 90% of the community who are casual.

Your idea: P2W, since free players woulnd’t be able to gain required resources needed. Like some already said: farm like nolife…
ANet designed GW2 so that you move around the game world and gain resources as you play, not that you stay in 1 map and farm champion train.

My opinion about Megaservers now:

1. Reintroduce queue system, so we won’t have to do manual complex taxi to join a same map copy.
Queue would be optional too, to queue players, when enough players are queued to same specifications, a new map copy would be created. Megaserver sorting either doesn’t work as intended yet or it’s too soft parameters. Best would be give players the option of hard sorting parameters, main would be “world”.

2. Add a system, similar to one in GW1, to reconnect to same map copy, on sudden unvoluntary disconnections, like losing connection or game crash. Players working hard to join a single map copy, if followed with sudden disconnect is frustrating, as the player is always placed on another map copy when reconnecting.

Does the game still relly to much on zerkers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Well, I see that the problem in zerker being good in PvE, is because most mobs only sport low armor, medium HP and high damage.

There are very few enemies that have more defensive capabilities. So far only notable foes are “Partially digested husks”, who sport very heavy armor…

And since berserker gear works for fast, high damage bursts.

I hope update to mobs comes at one point, introducing us more variety than our common “zerker feed”, along with the desired more advanced and adaptive AI too.

Though I believe the variation might only affect foes with ranks veteran and higher, leaving the normal mobs as the “can be killed with any build” kind.

Pretty much what I thought…

Stack to reach certain stack to inflict a “power up condition” that improves the damage of the condition and counts as if inflicted by all players who inflict conditions.

Stuff like “Deep wound” (Bleeding), “Gangrene” or “Necrosis” (Poison) and “Immolated” (Burning).

“Suffering” (Torment) too perhaps, tho it’s rather strong condition…

A Designer's viewpoint: Condition Caps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Perhaps he meant that as people upkeeps the stacks, at one point the damage increases.

Or perhaps that everytime condition stacks hit 25 stacks, the damage is inproved by x%, and give contribution to all casters.

Other thing that could use a fix would be cross appliance of condition, so that all condition casters get contribution.

Perhaps a PvE only feature, for every time a condition effect is applied x stacks, foe would be inflicted with a secondary condition that stacks up as players apply more full stacks.
Example: “For every 25 stacks of Bleeding, target foe will be inflicted with 1 stack of Deep wound, that increases Bleeding damage by x% and lasts for 5 seconds. Stacks intensity.”

or

“For every 25 stack of poison, target foe will be inflicted with 1 stack of Gangrene, increasing Poison damage by x%, reduces healing effectiviness by 1% per stack and lasts for 5 seconds. Stacks intensity.”

Survival if the Fittest = adaptation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

  1. Some type of gear progression
  2. Player Housing
  3. Fix Orr, in other words, Orr shouldn’t still be controlled by undead. I’ve posted on this before in more detail
  4. Add blood. Make the fantasy world of GW2 as dark as the concept art and not the goody two shoes we currently have. Appeal to adults with money and not 10 year olds!
  5. Finally, look at Wildstar and see how much they have to offer for Endgame content. Arenas, battlegrounds, warplots, dungeons, huge raids, open world pvp!

Finally, Anet, to make these changes it takes money. You should go to a subscription model similar to SWTOR. $15 a month and customers get special privileges with a subscription and everyone can use the gem store for more revenue.

Ok, my opinions:
1. Gear progression
I don’t exactly get what you’re going about this.
Hit lvl x, buy/craft gear lvl x, max lvl, buy/craft gear lvl max, upgrade when resources permit for higher rarity grade.

2. Player housing
Well, it could be good, since we only have 1 home instance per race.

3.Fix Orr
Impossible, since it would break the immersion completely from the personal story.
Unless ANet figures some form of “multilayer maps” that depends on player personal story progression. We didn’t have separate maps in GW1 either, NPCs as friends before and foes after still remain, tho winds of change did affect cantha in GW1.
There are concepts of defeated elder dragon going to hibernation, and these have not been completely wiped off from lore, tho are only implication of the toughness of the elder dragons.
We have no confirmed kill on Zhaitan, we haven’t found it’s corpse to confirm that he’s dead, or that he’s gone back to hibernation to recover the critical damage sustained from battle above ruins of Arah.
Also that the cleansing process will propably take longer than few years, it could take over hundreds of years and only after if we have confirmed kill of Zhaitan, the source of it’s corruption.
Not to mention Tequatl The Sunless, who evolved some time after Zhaitans defeat.

4. Blood effects
As I would have also liked this, but since there wasn’t a prominent theme of graphic violence in GW1, and the devs decided to go with the current path with GW2.

5. Wildstar
Wildstar is a newer game, with the monthly fees it has the money, though many of the GW2 players play this game because of the lack of monthly fees.
Also that NCsoft is being pain about releasing expansions to GW2, being pain on GW2 itself, limiting the progress, according to some rumours.

6. Subscription fees
This would be the final nail on the coffin and death of GW2, since one of it’s main attracting points is no subscription fees.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

Should some of the world bosses that can move around, be immobilized at all, since it only results on complete immobilization of the specific few world bosses, because of the number of players re-applying immobilize over and over

Though if the boss has teleporting skills, it can move without being limited by the condition.

Should it be immunity or resistance against (Can’t be immobilized for x seconds, after being inflicted with immobilize)?

Although immobilize is more like the “soft and easy to reapply stun” against moving world bosses, due to the Defiance and Unshakable buff.

What do you think?

Death Blossom: Useless?

in Thief

I use Death Blossom with Rampager gear, tho I’ve switched weapons, food, 2 points on deadly arts and runes to give me +100% condition duration on my thief.

I haven’t tried WvW or PvP yet though.

2-4-0-4-4
Sundering Strikes, Signets of Power, Signet Use, Vigorous Recovery, Quick Recovery, Uncatchable and Initial Strike.

Withdraw, Infiltrator’s Signet, Signet of Shadows, Signet of Agility and Basilisk Venom. (Can substitute Elite skills, either Dagger Storm or Avatar of Grenth)

Superior Runes of Lich x4(+1) and Lyssa x2.
Sigil of Torment(D), Corruption(D) and Earth(P)
Armor is Exotic Rampager but jewels are rare Coral set.
3 Exotic Giver’s weapons= 2 daggers and 1 pistol (D-P/D)

Food and Utility:
Rare Veggie Pizza(40% cond dur and 70 +cond dmg) and Toxic Tuning Crystal(10% cond dur and 100 +cond dmg)

Unfortunately, since my jewels are just rare, I can achieve 1128 cond dmg with 25 corruption stacks and food at the moment and +100% cond dur doubles the durations of all conditions I inflict.

However, I’m not using conditions as only dmg source, I use the other skills, since I have high crit chance and mediocre amount of power, tho most of the time HS deals over 2k dmg on crit and backstab inflicts over 2.5k.
Though since mobs are usual zerker feed right now, hopefully in future we get more variation, which isn’t your basic zerker feed.

With the traits, my thief can inflict Vulnerability (12sec trait, 10sec CaD), Poison (8sec DAA, 20 sec Steal), Bleeding (20 sec DB, 8sec PAA and caltrops, 10sec sigil), Torment (10sec sigil and SStrike) and Cripple (6sec DancingD, 10sec caltrops)

Additional conditions from stolen enviromental weapons varies too much so I’m not including them.

Bored, thought some ideas on Dervish

Some ideas, very rough and unpolished too…

Propably only single weapon set, scythe…
Little similar to Mesmer Shatter, except removes or “rends” boons from themselves for additional effects, depending on skills

Profession skills:

“Earth Boon”, “Wind Boon”, “Mystic Boon” and “Rend Boons”

Earth Boon: While active, grants toughness and healing power.
End effect: if lasts full duration, Protection, if rended, Regeneration or something.

Wind Boon: While active, grants power and precision.
End effect: if lasts full duration, Might, if rended, Fury or some other boon…

Mystic Boon: While active, grants vitality and condition damage.
End effect: if lasts full duration, retaliation, if rended, aegis or some other boon.

Rend Boons: remove 1 or more dervish boons and 1 or more boons.
Inflict conditions or damage depending on rended boons.

Weapon skills include Pious types which rends boons to trigger the removal effect, along with some usuals.

Healing skills are “Pious Renewal”, “Vital Boon” and etc.
Pious Renewal removes all boons and does what ever it does…

Utilities also include pious types but also purity types which requires that the dervish doesn’t have any kind of boons on themselves.

Not very creative tho, based on GW1 of course…

Giving Counterplay to Minions

in Profession Balance

I like alot of the idea 1.A.

All ideas are excellent and would love to see those when I play with my Necromancer.

Instead of more sentient minions that can react on their own, a puppet minion is much better in my opinion, that attacks on “command” and stops when target is dead.
Much more active style indeed.

No more unresponsive minions or passive tanky MMs

I’d give this a vote For if it were available.

Ellen Kiel a future villain?

Perhaps Mordremoth infects Kiel with some Insidious Parasite

More twists as Mordremoth starts spreading it’s parasites and poison to turn friends into foes, maybe.

Maybe it’ll even poison us and gw2 will shut down.

Quite boring reply…

Goldfarm after Featurepatch

Isn’t moving and doing stuff around Tyria a way to make gold.

ANet will likely nerf all farming ways that involve repeating same pattern on 1 map anyway…

Well, I hope all consumables that have similar cooldown effect.

Tho I hoped they had 5+ min cooldown instead, perhaps 10 minute cooldown would have been more suffice…

Stacks disappear underwater

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

FrostSpectre.4198

Hmm, it seems that they fixed the underwater weapon, last time I tested, it was if either weapon set didn’t have a stacking sigil, the stack would be lost.

Now it’s if underwater weapon doesn’t have a stacking sigil, while land weapon set does, when diving into water, the stack is lost.

And if stacking sigil is on underwater weapon set, but not on land weapon set, the stack persists.

zerk meta solution

FrostSpectre.4198

2 years and this still is one of the main issues with the game. GW2 is not an RPG. It’s an online assasin’s creed kind of game. Its an arcade. Its not a game about teamplay. We are all single players on the same map. Get it in your head. They won’t fix it.

GW2 is a RPG, there are roles, but ANet still has to figure out a good way to update mobs from the standard average joe zerker feed.

The amount of damage zerkers did was a mistake by the ANet, they never intended it to be too strong.

Heck, my longbow ranger with full zerker exotic and +200 power/30seconds on kill, +70 ferocity (Was +10% crit damage before) and sharpening stone:
3.5k crits before zerk nerf on average joe zerker feed mobs
3k after zerk nerf…

They will fix it, like they did with GW1, it took alot of time before even that game had some skills no one used. Tho monks still cannot use smiting prayers well, dervishes got their primary attribute tinkered anew and paragons were constantly called “imbagons”, perhaps are still rather strong AoE party support.

Who knows, we might get more heavy armor foes and so on, than just your average joe zerker feed. Perhaps also some foes which can prolong themselves while damaging players, making support also more viable.

Stacking sigils and diving into water

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Well, did some tests, is about diving into water and getting out of there to land:

Ground weapon sets with stack sigil and underwater weapon set with stack sigil
-> Keep the stacks

Only 1 stack sigil on either weapon set
-> Lose the stacks

I’ve heard that this update is to prevent players from keeping the stacks if they swap away the sigil weapon from ground weapon set, while having a second stack sigil on one of the underwater weapons.

Note: You’d have to dive underwater to trigger this stack loss.

However, for basic builds that use stack sigils in PvE (Since there’s no way to get 5 stacks per kill in PvE), right now, it’s a huge disadvantage and annoyance to enter underwater, since you’d need to have two of the same stack sigils on both weapon set.

Do note that on swap sigils do trigger while in combat mode and leaving/entering water, so it’s treated as weapon swap.

Since this affects weapon sets that don’t exploit dual stack sigils.

Hopefully this is not an intended feature, I’d understand that you’d lose the stacks if you had only 1 stack sigil and unequip only that weapon from either set(Mostly the ground weapon set)

Sugestion: Body-blocking

FrostSpectre.4198

Well, I wonder if it could be achieved with the function already in GW2, “Melee Attack Assist”, which prevents players walking throught the enemy…

It’s there, but it’s more like a disadvantage, when looking at some attacks that benefit more being “inside” the enemy, to maximize number of hits…

Feedback/Questions: MegaServer

FrostSpectre.4198

So my suggestion, what do you think about it, tho someone else might have already suggested this for Megaserver system:

Reintroduce queue system, as a button on some corner of the hud or some place is the most easy to access, but having automated pop up on each map travel is no good should be avoided instead.

With the queue system, it’ll ask the player, wether they want to be placed in map copy with same world players, if such map doesn’t exist yet, it puts player to queue to wait for more players of same world map copy.

There of course can be more options, but I can’t think what else it could have.
