I could say that she’s Asura.

They’re driven by culture that drives them to be quite reckless, especially those who have higher aims for their lives.

She’s a child and Asura, two things that makes her quite the liability.
But that she has bone degeneration disease which puts even more stress on her, one that also increases her recklesness, since she might be pretty much “imprisoned” inside her golem or possible lab, one day.

But I don’t think we can throw her out.

Well alot good reasons to keep her are here..

I got lazy, sorry! Copied my theory that I wrote on other topic.

Every orb reflects something.

My theory:

  • White orb in middle is Tyria
    - Pale Tree herself is rooted into Tyria, thus the positioning in the middle orb.
  • Deeb blue orb is Deep Sea Dragon.
  • Green orb is Mordremoth.
  • Red orb is Primordius.
  • Purple orb is Kralkatorrik.
  • Black orb with faint greenish-yellow light is Zhaitan.
  • Ice blue orb is Jormag.

The order which each orbiting orbs start to move is:

  1. Primordus
  2. Deep Sea Dragon
  3. Jormag
  4. Mordremoth
  5. Kralkatorrik
  6. Zhaitan

The orbs very likely displayed according to the order of the dragons awakening from slumber, not the date when they got up from their lairs, since races of Tyria cannot predict which one woke up from slumber, but can only write down the date on which the dragon started moving

However the deeper nature of the dragon is quite unknown, as Ogden speculated on his book in Scarlets house on Dry Top, that the dragons might actually be part of Tyria.
Alot of info that was given in the history, Dwarves, Mursaat, Seers, Jotun and Forgotten also fought back, but were not capable of winning, only when the Seers made the Bloodstones, to seal their magic, thus becoming less important to the dragons to consume. After sealing their magic, the ancient races then hid with aid of Glint, who was released sometime before.

Another possibility about Mordremoth targeting the Zephyrites, could be that the Zephyrites grew crystals they used, from crystaline remains of Glint. Perhaps we’ll see more about it, or it’s pretty much nothing big…

Charr

  • Hidden Pistol, which is an attack and escape in one, tho abit slower one than Withdraw or Lightning Reflexes.
  • Battle Roar, with boon durations, could mean additional Fury for 5 nearby allies.
  • Shrapnel Mine, with condition dmg and duration builds, could be additional source of long duration bleeding and cripple, perhaps Engineers.

Asura

  • Technobabble, instant daze skill for interuption, good for mesmers.
  • Pain-inverter, use with melee hate builds.
  • Radiation Field, more like another Corrosive Poison Cloud, if necromancer.

Debatable how many of M’s minions have been corrupted, like J, K and Z’s minions, versus how many have been created from scratch, like P’s minions.

We haven’t actually seen anything get corrupted by Mordy yet.

Mordrem Wolves, they have canine skulls, and the skeletal figure they possess, obviously corrupted dogs or wolves, but more covered in plant like growth.

Although there are Overgrown Thornwolves and Overgrown Husks, dunno if these are place holders for the Mordrem so they might not appear again, since they’re same as the Mordrem wolves and husks we now face.

Not a fan of active armor mobs...

in Living World

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

here, for you:

  • wolves: howl is AoE retal. the pounce attack hits hard.
  • husks: lots of toughness, abuse condis. also careful with the shockwave, it immobilizes.
  • thrashers: shoot from behind, don’t touch the goo if you wanna live
  • siphoners (or whatever they’re called): stay off the red goo and range them.
  • thrasher+siphoner: avoid the weird roots they send your way, they hurt a lot.

tada

Updating it abit:

Mordrem Wolves: Kill them quickly before they spread retaliation on nearby Mordrem, or have boon removal/manipulation ready to destroy the boon. Since the wolves are faster than any other mob, including players with Swiftness, it’s also good to snare and even stun them.

Mordrem Husks: Your common Anti-zerker mobs. Same as Partially Digested Husks, Conditions. CC is also optional, since these mobs don’t have much of a threatening attack. Getting immobilized by them is near instant death tho, if other Mordrems are present.

Mordrem Vile Trashers: Same as has been told, would be wise to have CC available too. Would suggest to have condition removal and support player to ensure you don’t die on the enormous amount of DoT

Mordrem Leeching Trashers: Stun them when they root into the ground, to stop their AoE attack. In general, CC is very useful against these, since it can also prevent them from healing nearby mobs.

Hopefully the difficulty scale up now spawns more variety instead of higher ranks (Veteran, Elite, Champion), as these unique mobs will become overpowered with the current rank system (“x10 HP and DMG”)…

Pretty much my thinking while going through the episode was that ANet has a passive-aggressive “we will make you go zerker!” agenda going in their design.

Every mob seemed designed to be frustrating unless you built specifically for maximum burst DPS.

No, these mobs are all anti-zerker. The variety ANet was afraid of adding into the game.

If you’re afraid of fighting these mobs in group events, then you’re abit out of luck…

Other thought tho, I really hope ANet updates the existing mobs too to have the variety instead of increased rank (Veteran-Elite-Champion and same mobs, on Group events!

Solo content can be left untouched.
Having old super easy content annoys me…

The Orbs - Zhaitan alive? [spoilers]

in Living World

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

I don’t understand how people see Zhaitan and his minions sickly green.

Artistic renditions show gray as prominent color, green just a little here and there.

On other hand, devs saying Zhaitan is dead, might be meaning that he will not appear in future update/expansions of GW2, while still leaving the actual death ambiquous.

Also the machine, very likely showed the machinations, not a record, unless proven othervise.

Pale Tree being in the middle, what I think, it tells about the tree having rooted into Tyria.
For Mordremoth, it’s obvious tool to get deeper into the innerworkings of Tyria.

Also there’s a book that was written by Ogden, even if it has speculations, he/she(?) says that the Dragons might be part of the Tyria.

All lore explained in the form of religion of the six gods, pretty much omit the dragons, because the main focus is humans in those writings. Holy books are like scrapbooks, bit by bit it’s put together.
There’s also possibility that the dragons might rival the human gods in power, more the reason to omit such info, since gods are supposed to be omni-potent.

Also that the bloodstones were used by the ancient races (Jotun, Dwarves, Seers, Forgotten, Mursaat) to seal away their magic, also created by the seers, but was taken into arah by the human gods meddling…

Now that I watched the wooden potato theory video, I have another theory:

Mordremoth awakened as it was shown, but was not strong enough to get up, so he/she began affecting Scarlet to bring about his/her rise, but couldn’t move due to some weird reason, the punch on the ley line hub caused a surge that helped Mordy to awaken completely.

Zhaitan too, awoke earlier than Kralkatorrik, except that he too stayed abit longer in his resting place, the “awakening” date is the day when Zhaitan got up, not necessarily exact waking up date.

[Suggestion] Condition Burst

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Interesting concept, but I’m not fully aware of possible consequenses…

So, conditions will hit with “direct damage” on burst, based on applier’s condition dmg and condition duration, when that player adds X amount of stacks, to trigger the burst.

Should it prioritize conditions applied by players with high Condition DMG and Condition Dur. That high powered conditions are more likely to burst.

Should there be a threshold for burst, that prevents lower stat player’s conditions from bursting.

Should it keep the condition stacks still on the target, while weaker (As in, applier has below the trigger threshold cond dmg and cond dur) conditions will never trigger burst, but maintain the stack, and any additional condition with high cond dmg + dur will always burst over them, dealing “direct damage”.

The Mordrem and future speculations

Well, I would guess more parasitic stuff being part of them.

Like the Mordrem Wolves, they have apparent canine skulls, I assume the rest of the body too, is canine, but heavily altered by the corruption.

Hopefully in the future we get more parasite styled Mordrem, not just special plant monsters.

Especially when looking at Icebrood Norns, there’s apparent shredding of skin and exposed flesh on them.

Although parasite infected zombies doesn’t exactly sound very new, when compared to Risen, or all dragon minions that were once some other lifeform before.

I’m also assuming we get more use out of Anti-Toxin spray soon… (or possibly it’s updated to clean x amount of conditions, but healing only when removing the designated ones.)

Thank you ANet for adding mob variety

Why does having higher HP and Armor help you with the Mordrem mobs? Dodge the jump attack and then kill it before it can do it again. Plus CC and Support can be done in Berserker’s gear since their isn’t CC or Support gear.

Read the main post again, since it seems you didn’t read it at all.

Armor affects your Aggro Rating, more you have, the more likely mobs will come for you.

1. closest target to them
2. who is dealing damage
3. top damage dealers
4. who is using a shield / has more toughness and overall armor
5. others (see Tanking tactics below)

Aggro page on GW2 wiki

Combo of 1, 2 and 4, will give you high aggro rating.

Keep up with the new variety, only having “zerker feed” (low ARMOR, medium HP and High DMG), that were buffed up with ranks that only gave them more damage and HP was a big mistake.

At first the Partially Digested Husks were a step forward, now the new Mordrem mobs, making Support, CC and condition dmg builds more viable, while making it hard for Berserkers to dominate everything.

Hopefully we get better Difficulty scaling too, that doesn’t involve adding more higher ranks of same mobs, but more variety.

Solo is always ok to have simple mobs, but group stuff should always have variety!

Why do people play anything other than a war?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

To be blunt: That’s a stupid question. Same as asking “Why don’t people like things that I like”.

Every class has their play style.

Heavy
Warrior for high survivability and dps mixed together, very effective in melee combat. Can die quick when their defenses drop.

Guardian for better support play style with alot of boons. Low health and limited condition removal options makes them vulnerable against attrition combat.

Medium
Ranger for variety of combat styles, and even highly mobile support. Jack of all trades and part dps reliant on pet, most skills also more selfish.

Engineer for jack of all trades, alot of options, also possess a good condition burst. Doesn’t possess strong skills, some skills are also unpredictable.

Thief for fast, stealth and high single target DPS. Low health and medium defenses limits them to hit and run style gameplay only.

Light
Elementalist for jack of all trades and alot of AoE potential. Low health and defense leaves them mostly glass cannons.

Necromancer for attrition style combat, conditions and boon/condition manipulation skills. Doesn’t possess good spike options, only attrition style most viable.

Mesmer for deception, manipulation and with support options. Should their illusions fail to deceive foes, left vulnerable that way.

GW1 = more build diversity?

GS guardian, Knights or Berserker, Meditations or Spirit Weapons with correct traits.

Knights for more survivability while keeping good crit chance, Berserker for more damage on crits and attacks in general.

Meditations for Fury and offensive effects, Spirit Weapons for additional DPS and activated skills for additional stuns, AoE, healing field or weakness.

But these are just PvE. Might melt against more variable foes, like heavy armor.

GW1 = more build diversity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

Yeah, GW1 has build diversity, but balancing all of the skills was a long time problem.

Also that the build diversity was limited by fully dedicated roles, the “Holy trinity”.
Two of them were useless in dealing damage, while DPS didn’t possess survival capabilities.

GW2 offers you more free choice on what build you want to use. But as GW2 is still young game, nothing is fully viable, due to various reasons, like imbalance.

But the flaws in GW2 right now is: Lack of mob variety (After entanglement, number of unique mobs increased, Partially Digested Husks, Mordrem Husks, Mordrem Trashers, Mordrem Hounds), though it’s still not quite large roster yet.)

Since the mobs, even on scale up don’t provide variety needed to encourage more Support or Control builds.

Only if ANet includes variety (Heavy armor, buffers, Condition DMG and etc.) instead of ranks (Veteran, Elite and Champion) on difficulty scale up, that way we have to use more other builds than just DPS, even if it’s more restrictive.

Guardian Spirit Weapons, yes, they’re quite hard to use in PvE. Even I haven’t found good use for them.

Elementalist Axe and Shield?

Axe for Might stacking Dagger/Dagger with Pyromancer’s Puissance.
Flame Axe:
- skill 1 grants 1 stack of might when hitting enemy.
- skill 2 is a blast finisher.
- skill 3 is emergency escape.
- skill 4 is fire-field.
- skill 5 is leap finisher.

Bring in Arcane Brilliance and Arcane Wave for additional stacks, damage and healing, when Blasting Fire-fields. Or use Persisting Flames and get Fury on each blast.

Shield:
- Skill 1 is a combo which deals bleeding and cripples foes in line.
- Skill 2 is an active defense block, dealing damage and bleeding to nearby foes. Recharge – is also halved on successful block.
- Skill 3 is a leap attack that dazes 3 foes.
- Skill 4 is a AoE pull for 3 foes.
- Skill 5 is a three seconds of Invulnerability.

Signets, some traits give endurance on successful activation, inflict vulnerability, grants you fire shield and so on.

[Suggestion] spawns caused by scale up

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FrostSpectre.4198

FrostSpectre.4198

By far, scale up is rather simple, spawn stronger versions of same mobs.

How about spawn other varieties, not only high hp, high damage and low armor mobs.

Or possibly no vet-elite-champ version of “Zerker feed mobs” at all.

Doing this will not affect small groups or solo, who never trigger difficulty scale up.
Small groups and solo will always face against “zerker feed mobs”.

And that scale up mainly affects Events.

Since difficulty scale up is supposed to increase difficulty and make requirement of CC and Support more necessary, but right now, it’s not doing good job for CC or Support builds in PvE.

Mobs have more health and hit harder, conditions are even less useful and healing doesn’t always cut it.
The powered up Mobs use pretty much same skills, with very little change.
Mobs rarely use common boons, so manipulation is very limited in Scaled up PvE.
The most dangerous mobs are Champions who are pretty much immune to CC in large groups.

When thinking about Dungeons, same could be achieved as “Hard mode” for the dungeons.

I could say that the Partially Digested Husks that appear during Tri-wurm (or “Evolved Jungle Wurm”) were a step forward for Condition damage builds, tho CC and healing support don’t have a good role tho.

But then again, simple scale up is an easy to achieve solution.

They’re very unlikely to be buffed in the future, unless something big requires their rebalance.

There’s no such thing as “unused profession utility skill”, each of them have their uses and synergies.

Any word on Dragon Bash?

Propably not, since last dragonbash was because Zhaitan was defeated.

Unfortunately, no.

Take of range limitations from boons, BUT only when in same squad(???) or party.

That should make most sense. Propably only for parties, not squads.

Atleast in my opinion.

Bag that only accepts what you put into

Magic bags eh?

Found an ancient magical Xunlai storage bag! :P

“You can set up the sorting variables of the bag, like example: Rarity, Soulbound, Account Bound and so on.”

Perhaps even “portal bag”, linked to each character that has one equipped, but only account wide. The content can be moved and placed in there.

But problem would be that it’ll make banks and bank express items quite obsolete

To be in party, well you have better track of your party members.

Tho I think that applying boons doesn’t prioritize party members over nearby allied player/NPC.
When thinking about it, it really should prioritize party members over nearest player/NPC…

For contribution-wise, it should give you credit according to your party contribution.

Also that tagging once or twice, well, IF the event is a big one which requires cooperation, you’re just a leech and a bad player.
Please note the IF!

On other hand, if you try to play “dedicated healer”, you will not be given credits if you just try to heal allies and hit the mob just once or twice, for many reasons, like how ANet designed the system and that there’s no “Holy trinity”, playing as one of the “Holy trinity” will just result “holes” in your contribution.

I dunno about it, but there might be modifiers that are increased by applying conditions, inflicting CC, healing and applying boons, but they multiply your damage rated contribution.
Deal almost no damage at all, less the multiplier increases it.

Would make sense for CC and SUPPORT builds tho, who deal less dmg than DPS built player.

But this is just speculations from me.

Well, if it happens because players skipped parts of the explorable paths, I highly doubt it is a bug, instead of a intended function to prevent players from skipping parts.

So it’s a bug that it’s not always happening ?

If you go back and kill the monsters it probably won’t fix this. Nor will killing Kohler and take the WP.

Just speculation.

FoW and UW will NOT be in game until the Gods come back to the world, since the entrance was controlled by the Gods.

[Suggestion] mob scaling and variety

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Suggestion is:

When x amount of players scale up events or PvE content, instead of just increasing spawn and lvl of same mobs, spawn more unique mobs, like heavy armor, buffers, CC mobs and so on.

More players scaling up, more unique mobs. No to Vets and Elites with x2-10 times more health bull stomping kittens…

Even though it might be violation of “I play how I want”, but this would encourage players to bring more DPS variety, Support and CC into scaled up combat, instead of having only “stronger” mobs that are best dealt with Berserker gear…

Of course, solo roaming/adventuring would be unaffected, until the required number players to trigger scale up is present.

Of course, this could be a hard mode for dungeons, offer harder and more variety, with increased rewards.

And of course, there might be some problems too. There are always problems, but they can be fixed.
Also the problem with Unshakable Champion buff needs to be addressed too, before hand.

Hopefully ANet fixes the explorable paths so that you cannot skip events and complete the path. (Would be killing blow to solo dungeon runners, if they cannot complete all events during the path)
