kind of figured that, just checking – thanks
Hey all – the 6th stat on this is to gain might when using a healing skill – does that apply if using a shout and the shout heals or just the #6 skill?
What server is currently Champion farming in Orr – what part of Orr is the farming most active?
This is the build I use (basically what Hunter was saying) because it allows you just go in and start smashing your enemies for some pretty good damage – and you are buffing your allies and healing yourself while doing it.
if you “ignore” someone, do you still see their emotes?
I play a guardian because it’s the only character I can stay alive with LOL.
I always Banish my people off the edge of the final platform, but I do let them get the chest.

I kind of think this is dirty play. Hence my my shame when I actually laughed out loud when I read it. Dirty, but really funny.
I run an AH build so I normally have Hold the Line and Stand your Ground on my bar because they offer good support and give me heals – and they have the lowest CDs of the shouts. But I do change them around sometimes for special encounters. I am always changing the third utility slot. I ALWAYS use Renewed Focus for my elite. If I ran dungeons, I would most likely use Tomb of Courage because that could certainly save a wipe.
Thanks for the link tolunart, there are some cool weapons there that are not near as bad to get as the ones I was looking at.
Thanks for all the other input too. I will give WvW a try. The only reason I have not tried is because I totally suck at pvp LOL, but sounds it may be doable for someone like me.
Hello,
I hit 80 a while back and just started thinking about getting a legendary weapon. I know nothing about it, so I went to wiki to see what I needed to do – I knew it would be a lot. It looks like you have to do a lot of WvW in order to get a legendary weapon. I really don’t like WvW, please tell me I am looking at it wrong or missed something.
If I decide I don’t want to go through all the work to get a legendary, isn’t there something I can get that just makes my weapon glow a little bit?
Your guild sounds great. I have been through a bunch of guilds and just can’t seem to find the right one. I love to play, I’m on almost every night for a few hours after my daughter goes to bed, and I play most weekends. What server are you on?
Hello,
I love to play MMOs, but none of my friends are gamers, so I normally play solo. But I know MMOs would be so much more fun if playing with a couple other players – hence my post. I am very easy going and have a laid back playstyle. I’m not the greatest player, but not the worst. I play the game to have fun and relax, so I’m not one to get upset because someone keeps dying while fighting a boss or falling while trying to complete a jump puzzle – sometimes that will be me LOL. I have only run a couple dungeons and would like to run them more, but I really enjoy roaming the world, completing quests, and doing dynamic events – basically anything PVE.
I am in the Eastern Time Zone and play most evenings for a few hours (8 to 10 or so) and scattered times on the weekends. I will be on this weekend a lot, although I will probably be getting on a bit later tonight than normal.
I understand there is a ‘guesting’ thing in the game that allows people from different servers to play together, so finding some gaming buddies should be easier since we don’t even have to be on the same server.
Reply or look me up in game if you’re interested.
Have a groovy weekend
kind of felt stupid asking the question because I figured they were all the same range. I was just hoping there may be a little bigger reach to help me make up for the fact that I cant see anything in front of me when playing a huge Norn LOL.
Do all characters have the same weapon reach? For example, if a Norn and an Asura warrior were standing together in a sea of mobs, would their greatsword swings hit the same mobs? I assume yes, but just checking. I want to play a Norn warrior because they look so cool, but because they are so big I often can’t see my target and I find myself missing hits because I’m standing too far away thinking I was closer.
How do I get ascended trinkets?
Yep was talking pve – sorry, I almost forget about wvw and pvp because I never play those.
Very helpful – thanks.
Hello,
I love using the renewed justice to use virtue of justice on every foe. But I have no idea how condition damage scales. If for example I have 500 condition damage, how much more damage does that do?
I love my Guardian – it’s the only one that really “works” for me. I typically use a greatsword or hammer for my main set, and then sword/focus or mace/focus. I am always switching depending on what I am doing. Greatsword and sceptor/focus are a great all around pve set. This gives you 3 blinds, 4 if you put 5 trait points into radiance. thats 4 blinds (3 that are aoe blinds) – how about that for damage mitigation.
mace/shield or mace/focus is great for when your health is getting low. I use this weapon set when I know I have a difficult fight. It will kill slower, but it does a great job at keeping your health up.
hammer is great to use with the altruistic (spelling?) healing build. this is great to use in dungeons because it is great damage and great support. It’s also great to use around in regular pve too – I use it when I am doing events for karma. Just follow the AH build that is stickied on the guardian forum.
Like swiftpaw said, you can spend 30 points per trait line (you will have 70 points to spend once you reach level 80). As you level you can buy more books from trainers to open up the next tier of traits. I think it’s level 30 for the second tier and level 60 for the third.
When deciding what trait lines to go into, go by the major traits that interest you and fit your play style the most, then go by the minor traits. Don’t worry about the stats – you can buff any stats with your gear. I buy all new gear about every 7 or 8 levels or so of the auction house – other than what I get as awards from doing my personal story.
Have fun with it and keep switching your weapons around – helps you find what fits best for different scenarios. Welcome to Tyria.
Awesome thanks a lot
I sold a piece of starter gear that I wanted to keep by accident. Can I get another one somewhere?
I love my guardian because I’m too lazy to dodge.
I normally have mace/shield as my secondary. When my health gets low which doesn’t happen all that much, I switch to mace/shield which helps bring my health back up while still dealing damage.
Are level 60 runes the highest level there are? That is the highest I saw on the TP.
The game is better when playing with other people with similar interests. I think it would be great to have an in game profile that lists certain information:
1. time zone
2. normal times online
3. playstyle
4. in game interests
Things like that. Then other players that match up to our own interests and play times could show up in a list. That would make it very easy for players to find other players with similar playstyles to find each other.
I totally disagree that the game was designed for foot travel alone and that mounts have no place in the game.
The game was designed to be explored, rather than just traveled from waypoint to waypoint. Only by traveling can you come across the dynamic events, which are what pve was built around. But foot travel can get really boring when a player just feels like traveling around an entire map area. Personally, I love to just run around the map looking for events, but I just want to travel faster.
Not sure about anyone else, but it really bothers me when I come across one of the big dragon things (sorry, cant’t think of what the events are called right now) and I can’t do it because there are no other players there. Numerous times I have sat there and waited, and waited, and waited for others to show up with no luck.
I don’t think air mounts would be any good in this game. But ground mounts would be awesome. And I believe they already planned on adding mounts to the game in the first expansion. In an interview before release Colin said, “mounts will not be available AT RELEASE.” The way he said it told me we will have mounts – can’t wait.
I just started an ele a few days ago. I quickly got a staff and have been using that because it has more range – I have a hard time with dagger/dagger because you have to be close to the target but I’m not that great at dodging. I know that is an extremely important mechanic to the game, but I just have not gotten very good at it becuase I have been playing a guardian mostly – and dodging is not nearly as necessary for them in pve.
Today I was looking through the skills and noticed how awesome scepter/focus seems to fit my play style. Scepter has decent range, and each attunement has an assortment of shields, blinds, stuns, damage reducers, and chills. This along with a couple of signets should allow me to always have a skill available that either slows the enemy down or reduces/negates damage. Looking forward to trying sceptor/focus out tonight. Funny that I started with a sceptor, but just didn’t use it past the intro.
I have looked through the Operation Union post and have only found a couple people on my server. I love this game and I play most evenings both weekday and weekends (like 8:00 to 10:00 or so – often later if I’m playing in a good group and having lots of fun). I mostly solo because I don’t talk in chat enough to make friends – I get so involved in the game that I often forget the chat is even there. But I love to play with other people – that adds so much to the game, especially this game.
I enjoy doing anything PVE. I play as much as I can, but I play for FUN – not to max my gold earnings each day or rush through dungeons as fast as I can. I like to enjoy the environment and play around. I think I play pretty well, but I am NOT one of those perfect players that rarely makes a mistake and notices whenever someone else does. I play this game for FUN – thats all. I like to enjoy my time in the game and it would be even more enjoyable to find a couple like minded people to run around with in game.
I’m on Ferguson’s Crossing, but if anyone on this or any other server that plays about the same times I do and is also looking for some easy going people to play with, let me know. If you are on the same server, my main is “Sidewalk Prophet.”
Name: Gary
Main Character: Sidewalk Prophet – level 80 Guardian
Current Server: Fergusson’s Crossing, but would be more than willing to move.
Interested Activities: Anything PVE. Have not tried PVP or WVW yet.
Active: Most weeknights about 8pm to 10pm EST, but will often go much later if having a lot of fun. I also play on the weekends, but those times vary a lot.
Additional Comments: I’m very easy going and I play for fun. I normally play solo just because I’m not outgoing enough to make friends in game. But I very much enjoy playing with other people, especially in this game. I’m always willing to help anyone anyway I can.
Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’S project, Y/N? Y

Great feedback, thank you. If going for dungeon armor, do tokens from different dungeons add together? Meaning, do I need to farm a particular dungeon for a particular armor set?
Awesome thanks. I like the armor for the order I chose – do I get that by just going through the quests? Another question – what is the difference between the different tiers of armor? I guess what I am asking is, what is a tier?
I hit level 80 on my Guardian yesterday and now want to start working at getting some sweet armor. This is my first maxed level character on any MMO so I am kind of lost. I looked on the internet but didn’t see what I was looking for. I am sure there is a website that shows what different armors look like and how to get each piece. Can someone point me to a source of info.
Thanks, I appreciate any help
