I also had to do the Data Archive Repair and then download another patch…
I have also seen this on my key running character in the same place as mentioned by Just a flesh wound.
Yeah, the Broken Golem event has troubles at times.
But I can say that with activity in Brisban Wildlands south of Toxal Bog and west of The Shattered Henge, many people just don’t understand the significance of having an event that will spawn a large number of giants that aren’t 10-20 minute slogfests that end up giving you just 1 kill.
Good luck to you on the Giant Slayer though.
The problem is I think this is being done on purpose by some people that are doing the “chest farm” so that less events occur so they can farm longer.
I had noticed it doing the head shaking and not moving and had made an “Alert” map message indicating it was bugged and please let it die and I was told “Alert this is a chest farm map”.
So it could be that someone is doing it on purpose.
347.09 seems to be the current driver version for Nvidia cards.
Are you running this version?
The issue you are describing is known as Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) and is a graphics driver issue.
I have never experienced this but I know a lot of people have.
Or possibly…
If an email has the word “ArenaNet” in the header and it contains text that is in the format of an internet address, have it sent to an agent for examination?
Workaround:
Do a stutter step so the game thinks you have stopped moving or do a jump or two as you go down the slanted candy cane so you are not touching the ground continuously.
I didn’t think I had a tree, but upon further examination of my home area…
I found it.
Try looking at places you think it would not be at.
During the cutscene in “Tracking the Aspect Masters” I hear music.
I turned off music a long time ago and when I heard the music… It disappointed me.
I turned off the music due to immersion reasons and hearing the music just annoys me.
I’m playing a game, not watching a movie.
If I hear music in the game it better be coming from some source I can see, otherwise it’s off.
Is your firewall allowing it to run?
Yeah… Looking at that page it does say this…
“Tricks and Treats
Collect new items and recipes from horrors within the Mad King’s Labyrinth, and save up Candy Corn to trade in for prizes! This year’s rewards selection has been expanded to include new items like a recipe for an Endless Bottle of Batwing Brew, the Hexed Outfit, and Mini Zuzu, Cat of Darkness.”
Is it not anywhere to be found at any of the vendors?
If you’re talking about Jaklan…
According to the Wiki he doesn’t do anything really.
I would also like to be able to re-acquire the Mad Memoires since I transmuted mine into another item and now I have to keep that item if I want the Mad Memoires skin.
Important thing for you to understand…
Windows XP will be more of a problem for you if you do not upgrade…
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/end-support-help
What is end of support?
After 12 years, support for Windows XP ended April 8, 2014. There will be no more security updates or technical support for the Windows XP operating system. It is very important that customers and partners migrate to a modern operating system such as Windows 8.1.
What does this mean?
It means you should take action. After April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for Windows XP. Security updates patch vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malware and help keep users and their data safer. PCs running Windows XP after April 8, 2014, should not be considered to be protected, and it is important that you migrate to a current supported operating system – such as Windows 8.1 – so you can receive regular security updates to protect their computer from malicious attacks.
——
Good luck, remember, you get no more patches from Microsoft and “hackers” will find bugs and things in Windows XP more and more.
As someone that has participated in the “Broken Golem” event (and finished Giant Slayer), I can say the following.
It helps if you can get an extended group of people on your friend list that want to slay giants.
If someone wants to complete the event be courteous with them.
If you see new people near you while doing the Broken Golem event, inform them that you are slaying giants and ask them if they want to join too. (More people = more giants.)
You can work on other slayer titles while waiting for the Broken Golem event to respawn.
You can work on some of the dailies while waiting for the Broken Golem event to respawn.
Good luck.
Note, the above statement “you can safely delete the rest after adding it to your wardrobe” should only be done if you have multiple “account bound” miniatures.
Other miniatures you have multiples of can be sold (after adding at least one of them to the wardrobe), but the account bound ones (after being added to the wardrobe) could be deleted.
It seems someone is fond of mimes…
We did something similar to this back in Guild Wars also.
I do not have that event icon on my screen.
Why are you trying to purchase something that doesn’t actually exist in the game as of yet?
I do not see any of these items for sale on the trading post anyway…
Place the item into your bank.
Make the decision at a later time.
The dye will still be there when you are ready to decide.
Oh yes, the Bork! Bork! Bork! language selection was good fun at times.
Until the 12th there were increased odds to get tickets or scraps from the chests. (Still low though.)
Now it is back to the normal odds, which are lower.
If you have wireless problems… Do not install from wireless.
Yes, install from a wired connection.
I thought that Scruffy operated just fine. We had a limited area that was not very complex and Scruffy had no issues.
If you want to experience troublesome or problematic “friends” in a game, look up the Daikatana Sidekick debacle from 2000….
I was watching this place closely for few min and I think I’ve seen some movement there (or maybe it was just my imagination).
I can tell you for sure that you were not imagining things.
Perhaps it is intended behavior in that if you look at the tendril it appears that it is sapping energy from the waypoint and as such it may just be malfunctioning…
It might just be a feature and not a bug.
I experienced that a few weeks ago.
It seems random as the next time I came across it, it worked as intended.
Is your antivirus software kicking in at that point or can you not determine if that is the case?
Some antivirus software is a little “slow” when knowing what is harmful or not and therefore will try to protect you in those cases.
Sounds like antivirus software…
Do you use “Avast” ?
I noticed that behavior a long time ago.
Whoever supplies those bandits with their bags has to be very mad. They keep losing them.
I don’t have an accurate count, but it’s between 500-700 and all have been Tokens.
Problem: Food items in storage.
Solution: Refrigerator.
I said it first.
Heh.

There is an npc you can go to to have them adjusted from soul bound to account bound.
Black Lion Weapons Specialist.
The item must be unequipped before you talk to them or you do not get the option.
After the most recent patch, none of the people reappeared (at least as of the time of this reply).
Very odd.
I private messaged over 20 of them and not a single one of the people that appeared there ever replied.
Not once.
Getting to it will require either a skill that allows large jump distances or an item that gives large jump distances.
I met a group of people at the puzzle and we all tried to do the dive. In the end one would stay in the hole to make sure something was viewable at the bottom. In a party I believe you can see their chat at the bottom and that is slightly helpful (only slightly) in getting you to the right place.
Then again, this was when a lot more people were around, so it was easier.
[ATLAS] Updated with aftermath section

I read elsewhere that switching to the DE version of the atlas allows for you to find the locations and then you can switch to the EN version to read what you have discovered.
Also odd.

Clicking on the links does bring me to the atlas, but I don’t see anything to discover, outside of the very first link.
Odd.
I use an autoclicker macro, which is fine to use according to Anet.
I do not believe you understand the message in that post you linked…
(From that post….)
Macros
4. You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.
Putting out an idea here…
Perhaps the reason they are self-destructing is that someone already has the power core but wants kills for a daily kill achievement.
They come upon the event, see some enemy, kill them and leave the energy probe. After a period of time without guards nearby the probe self-destructs so that it can then respawn with fresh enemy to guard it.
Is the item in a standard type bag that allows items to be sold from it?
Some inventory bags will not allow items to be directly sold from them.
Well, since the NPC is not listed on the Wiki and this is the only place that mentions it…
Perhaps telling us where and when you found this NPC would lead to more people being able to provide insight as to what is going on with it?
Just a suggestion.
Gentle
There is some type of event or quest that leads you to the area but it’s true, they keep respawning and respawning.
Whoever supplies those bandits with their bags… They must be really upset as they keep losing them.
Gentle
There are currently only 3 places Giants spawn that count for the achievement…
2 of them spawn Champions and the other spawns non-champions.

Necromancer, 0,30,20,20,0
Undead / Rabid armor gearing
Scepter,Dagger / Staff
Used Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew
Once I understood that being near the edge of the dome was BAD BAD BAD and that being about halfway to the center was a happier place, phase 2 was more manageable.
Used Blood is Power, Deathly Swarm and then just conditioned her using all the available skills as much as I could while backtracking from safe spot to safe spot. I ended up being downed, but she died from the conditions.
Gentle
(Took way too many attempts overall though…)
I received one and used it in Lion’s Arch and nothing happened as well.

The “greed” and overall mentality these gauntlet farmers are exhibiting in great numbers (leave them, they cause me to lose profit) is BAD FOR THE GAME.
An easy way to stop this behavior is to limit the reward to 1 per account per day.
After all, how many times do you need do kill the enemy to “prove you did it” to yourself?
Killing the boss is the reward.
Remove the ability to get the “item” reward over and over again and make the reward after the first kill, just the knowledge you did kill it more than one time.
THIS SOLVES THE PROBLEM.
Gentle
Would limiting the reward to once per “day” remove the incentive to repeatedly load up on the gambits and farm the guys over and over and over again?
Bottom line is… I know I’m not “hard core”.
I don’t understand all the little aspects of how all the skills work together as a full system, so I’m having a really hard time with Liadri.
I just want to kill her 1 time…
I don’t want to farm Liadri or any of them.
I have tried and failed far too many times to just give up because people are blinded by the money.
