The zone they put in was a lot larger than I was expecting but I also thought it would basically be like cursed shore almost. A large amount of DE’s to do, more enemies to farm that weren’t risen. When I got there it seemed pretty bland and empty. I liked how big it was but it just felt like beyond the event there was nothing to do with that place.

I got downed a lot, repaired once and didn’t break equipment. Picked up a lot of people.

Killed tons of karka though and I didn’t need to hide in the back or be ranged most of the time.

As someone with nearly 1k hours played it was annoying already to have RNG be such a huge factor to some important drops. I’ve seen so many players with poor knowledge and skills who have legendaries and it really killed any prestige with having one for me already. When I heard they were going to address the issue with obtaining precursors this patch I thought that they would have a better chance of dropping deep inside fractals (which I’m hoping gets A LOT more rewarding later on).

But apparently randomly giving them out was the solution. Admittedly it has made the prices manageable…for now. I’m still really tired of being shafted by the RNG or even just being an ethical player who doesn’t farm bugged DEs or take advantage of exploits.

I’ll gladly take 3g and a 20slot bag for an epic 3 hour long event. But when I spend near the entirety of that time meleeing enemies down like a boss and picking up downed players along the way and you know perform pretty well in the event, I of course have fun and getting better is its own reward yet that is shadowed when someone in broken gear who was hiding in the back or dead most of the time is rewarded something that has 100x the value of everything I got.

Is it so hard for there be great rewards that are actually earned? I’m actually starting to form a theory that the worse you are the better the drops are. I know some pretty unskilled players who have been rewarded so much more than me. It’s not their fault and congratulations to them but when am I going to get good loot? I’ve only carried people into receiving these rewards so many times now and I’m getting sick of it.

The Bags of Wondrous Goods are a pretty good start and have potential, but in their current state I find them very boring.

It would be better if they had some items that could scale with the economy, like cores/lodestones or t6 mats. If we could get those items from the bags (randomly of course) it would go a long way to making these bags more interesting and exciting to get. For t6 mats, you could assign 1 of the 8 find monster parts to each of the 8 dungeons and have them sometimes drop from bags in small quantities (% chance to drop 1-2 or something).

Thats just a small suggestion, but regardless the bags are very boring in their current state and need some randomness added to them to make them exciting and super addicting to open up.

More cores/lodestones/t6 mats would be VERY awesome. I’ve ran CoE enough to probably get a full set 3 times over and I have 21 lodestones which actually includes me buying a lot of cores.

Someone dieing all the time isn’t due to their gear unless it’s significantly below level.

If you prefer someone to not wear a certain type of gear then ask them to switch and if they don’t vote for kick. Very easy.

Bjarl bugged? (COE path 1)

Bjarl used to bug before if he ran through the door toward the final alpha fight. I had heard that it was possible to bug him by attacking too much while he had scales up as well but never confirmed it for myself.

Today I had a shortbow ranger and a longbow warrior unload on him and he bugged. I’ve also heard reports of him bugging from many people recently.

I’m not sure if my warrior is hitting burrows more reliably with GS or not, I’m pretty used to moving around by now.

But I seem to be unable to hit the gargoyle statue flame shooting things at all. Like I’ll hit them maybe once every ten swings.

The new bags are pretty nice.

Graywolves.8023

I always thought it was pretty scrubby to skip Kohler. It takes maybe 3 minutes at most to kill him if you need to pick someone up a lot. You then get a WP that kills downtime for 2 of the paths and a chest.

Now you also get a bag of wondrous goods.

It’s actually pretty foolish to believe you’re being more efficient by skipping him.

Fun and Tokens.

I’ve already got my gear so I use the tokens for forge in foolish hopes of getting Dawn or Dusk.

I generally enjoy running dungeons, challenging myself and my group. One of my friends is reluctant to do Arah much since we got dungeon master but I love fighting Lupicus, until I never die on him and get a quick kill/one shot I’m never gonna feel like I’ve done it enough.

CoE I’ve ran a little too much but I enjoy the Alpha fights. Part of me wants to get a full set from every dungeon but there’s other goals I’m working towards like getting my Legendary.

Graywolves.8023

As someone who runs dungeons in their entirety almost everyday with friends and reaching for prestige – it’s very disheartening seeing farming guilds use exploits or skip half of a dungeon and be just as or more rewarded than my friends and I.

It also robs the prestige from gear. Having CoF gear means nothing to us thanks to the speedruns not too long ago and Arah gear doesn’t mean as much as it should thanks to the shard farming and players skipping half the content.

It’s a hard thing to manage and I really have no ideas on how to deal with it unless you linked rewards to the dungeon events and placed a DR on those instead of the run itself somehow. Putting rewards at the end encourages players to skip content and spreading it out allows players to farm easy bosses, reset, rinse/repeat.

This is great! Having a larger number of enemies spawn in the same spot and do the same thing just doesn’t work, it’s like if something’s clogging your drain you don’t run more water on it. You either get something special to pour in a clear it out or take it apart and approach the problem differently.

Send mobs in from different directions, have them adjust their approach. If there’s an army of players gathered somewhere they should be handled as such.

Graywolves.8023

I usually run with the at least the same 2 other people regularly and we do AC everyday. Never skipped Kohler. We will pull troll and him together sometimes though simply because it’s fun, we don’t attack troll during though, we treat it as a break and then kill troll after.

The problem with players skipping kohler is the players themselves. They’re the ones missing out on the chest and waypoint. If you want to consistently run dungeons to their completion you should add likeminded individuals to your friends list as you meet them through pugs or other things.

When you’re grouped with 4 strangers you’re basically at their mercy.

Sounds like it was frustrating because your groups were graverushing the entire time. He has a bit of learning curve but as you get used to him you’ll die a lot less. I might have 1 or 2 deaths across all 3 routes these days.

I think within a couple encounters I learned most of everything about him so you don’t need to look up guides if you’re observant and your party shares observations with each other.

One of the bigger things is just having everyone on top of picking up someone as they go downed and breaking imprisonment quickly as well.

Graywolves.8023

If you don’t want to do dungeons that’s fine. That’s basically what you’re saying.

Personally I’d never use a “dungeon finder” if this game implemented one. What has worked for me was in finding story mode groups I found players I enjoyed grouping with and added them to my friend’s list. Got a big list now and a pretty static group.

These dungeons aren’t designed for a group of random people to come together and breeze through. They’re especially not designed to be something that doesn’t rely commitment.

Sure it might work for finding more players. More than likely though if you put a tool in for automated dungeon pugging then dungeons have to be toned towards automated pugged groups.

Countdown to clear your groups. Put weaker party member on left side where two torches are closest so that they can pull their groups together.

When each person clears their torch stand by and type “1” into party chat. Upong five 1s everyone touches their torch.

ez

I would concider the shadow imps to be the harder mobs in that encounter though, when I’m on that torch I typically replace one of my utilities with endure pain. The fire imps can get close to adds as well sometimes but hey, it’s supposed to be challenging.

I don’t understand. OP is talking about graveyard rushing easy encounters?

There are encounters in Arah with anti-GY rush mechanics, people who go back to waypoint find a wall blocking their way in. This could be implemented more but I really don’t understand the frustration.

I’m all for more difficult content and I’m sure more will come in time but if your group is constantly dieing I don’t think the problem is the encounter even if you still beat it (that just means the people dieing constantly were being carried).

Strive for less deaths and finishing an encounter faster.

I also want to note that I don’t find repair costs to make an impact, maybe I just don’t die much.

Why tank at CoE?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Graywolves.8023

Graywolves.8023

I’ve literally ran everything without a tank fine. Having a Control(someone with KDs/stuns) is helpful a lot but I wouldn’t call them a tank. There isn’t many encounters where the mobs focus fire the person with highest vitality or defense.

Only way I could find someone attempting to be a tank helpful in CoE would be maybe champ wolf and if he’s abel to sit on top of fire shards and keep rezzing people for alpha?

I’m not sure, I avoid these kinds of groups.

Is the Simin boss fight working as intended?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Graywolves.8023

Final encounter I need to complete for dungeon master and most of my group. Tonight we had a new build mid-encounter and someone happened to disconnect. We kept going, passed grenth with 4. Got to Simin and it was the must redundant demotivating thing ever. Felt like pure luck if we could get her below 50% and when that happened it didn’t matter because next stealth the sparks would be reluctant to fit in their circles.

We eventually quit. It’s apparently near impossible with 5. I personally don’t mind so much because we’ll have to run it again for our friend but getting nothing for a run because its final encounter is buggy or clunky w.e is very frustrating to most of my party.

Yeah, seeing the precursors constantly increase is scary, especially with all these videos floating around of hundreds of failed attempts at getting a precursor.

As stated above it feels like only a guild could pull the money together to buy one while myself and some friends run dungeons constantly and gather other components we have no idea how we could possibly get to over 400g for a precursor. I myself am a bit shy of 100g and still need all those icy runestones as well as other things.

Am I right to condemn 5 Singet Warriors?

in Warrior

Posted by: Graywolves.8023

Graywolves.8023

It’s not very useful in a group. Having someone completely dedicated to doing nothing but their own damage output is almost like having someone trying to do nothing but heals. Myself and my party are able to keep fury up as well as a large amount of might. I’m still in a lot of greens and blues and my crit chance is 70% with fury.

Plus+ “Shake it Off” functions as a stun breaker and I use it more for that than for removing conditions on my allies.

When my group does run with another warrior it’s usually a hammer or control-focused warrior. Runs with 5-signet or some other classes that didn’t seem to provide to the group anything other than their own damage output have been frustrating and they honestly didn’t appear to have as much noticeable damage output as some thieves and I. But we’re a little elitist ourselves.

Rush: Often it will leave my character running in place on target for a while and sometimes not even do the follow up attack. Occasionally misses target completely and sends me into a wall. Gets me killed just as much when it works successfully either due to bug or lack of a cancel.

Throw Bolas: Out of range message on targets as close as melee range. Obstructed message without any obstructions. Not a reliable skill.

Whirlwind(subjective observation): Sometimes seems to lag a bit or not activate as quick as it normally does. Maybe I’m just experiencing time a lot slower in those clutch moments.

Not sure if this is warrior related but I also have been experiencing an issue with dodging in place. My character dodges and doesn’t go anywhere sometimes.

edit: Greatsword constantly misses destructible objects, usually have to strafe around and into them constantly to get hits.

Never doing exp Arah again - fire this employee

Graywolves.8023

It’s a good boss that provides a decent challenge. stay ranged and destroy grubs in phase 1. Phase 2 is more about dodging and staying alive while damaging him when you can. The phases after that are when it gets easier. At least from my perspective.

If they nerf him at all I will be extremely disappointed.

I think the designers of Arah had a strong intent in each encounter and executed it well for the most part. Only shortcoming was people getting the gear through farming a couple free encounters, fortunately having Arah gear now means you beat Giganticus a lot and completed a lot of routes in there, as it should.

The resetting is a bug. But the rest – you should look at what you and your own group can do instead of saying it’s a horrible encounter because it’s too difficult.

I fought Searing Effigy yet again today and I said it already but it deserves to be said again. You really need to undo the changes. This has gone from one of the most challenging encounters (which I completed first time in all blue gear, I only bring that up because for some reason people think only exotic geared people on vent can do some of the dungeons [we don’t use voice comm either]) to one of the easiest. Everything is just completely negligable. The animation/circle you added wasn’t necessary, I honestly never noticed it before and just ignore it now. His attacks literally don’t matter now. I seriously did nothing but stand there my last encounter and took his hits. Got knocked back a couple times, knocked down a couple times. Just used stun-breaker and got back up and continued hitting him.

I think we might have had 1 person occasionally killing crystals or something.

Just revert it back to the way it was, it was fine. It was very difficult but that’s something that should be expected. Perhaps add some character dialogue like “You’ll never take out all the crystals/powering shards, you better split up and keep the hurt on him while a couple keep those things at a reasonable number.”

I’m extremely dissapointed with the changes made to the Legendary Searing Effigy. First time I fought him yeah he was extremely hard, in fact my friends and I submitted a bug report because it was crazy. But then we figured out and it was a really fun fight.

I loved having that high tense feeling of avoiding getting hit at all because he would pretty much follow it up and hit you again, knocking you across the cavern floor and put your group behind on the fight due to his constant regen.

Now I can literally just stand there, let him hit me, use my stunbreaker, and keep hitting him again. It’s so lame now. His regen is almost negligible, summons maybe 2 crystals at a time.

You took a boss that filled players with a sense of achievment for beating and turned him into another one of those fights with negligible mechanics. No where close to a remote challenge.

Just revert it, change it back. I thought there was a pretty strong policy of providing challenging content but now you’ve pretty much turned a boss into a trash mob with a giant health pool and I don’t know why you would reduce CoE difficulty.

CoE was pretty easy as was. Changes that should be made to that is the suicide golem reliability, they like to run wherever they want in teleporter route. In Submarine you can have 4 people hack at once after the first wave while one person covers and skip fighting the vets in all 4 waves. In Front Door route the destroyer fight is a lot of doing the exact same thing until he’s dead, either put less lava on the floor or make the run back to the lazers faster somehow.

And the Golem fight with the support turrets in all routes is just bland. My group’s literally ignored the turrets and just DPS’d him down before. Even if the turrets were significant that fight’s pretty boring for something that’s in every route, needs to be more dynamic.

I like how subject alpha changes abilities each route though.

tl;dr – reverse the nerfs, provide more challenges and more diversity without what feels like a time sink and don’t give anything negligible mechanics.
