Interesting take on this all.. I am keeping a keen eye on the Gw2 stream with the more noticeable Gw2 pvpers, they are the ones that will foreground a meta and strategy, good to see how if differs from yours.

Match Making is awful, seriously anet its rubbish.
Last 5+ games have been plagued by 4/5 premades full of turret engi’s.
It has to stop, it’s getting out of hand. Solo que should not have to deal with premades and stupidly cheese builds like the turret engi.
Please read this and understand, it needs fixing and soon.

So, how exactly should the matchmaking function then? It should know what builds you don’t like to play against?

And If you don’t like turret-engis, get a 5man group and metagame the living hell out of them.

I’m talking about 2 staffbunkers with tornado, mesmer for good portalrotations, shoutguard for stability and Fresh Air against projectiles and for the heavy DPS…. you know, sth like that, get creative! If 80% of the builds you face are the same, you can simply counter them. And if you say there are no counters to mass turret-engis, you’ve clearly not tested out enough stuff yet.

The point wasn’t the fact we got matched with the Engis, thats a broken class.. The point of the matchmaking is that, we were duo queing and we were getting matched against a full premade team.. And it happens quite a lot.. How is that fair for some people who go in solo etc.. I have played a lot of pvp and I am going to make the assumption that most people replying have too, we can all agree its much easier playing with a known team over a bunch of pugs, with voice communication or not.

Anet fix this.. I was queing with Witch, its ridiculous.. We both have 5k+ ranked games and we still get stuck with this kitten.. Ranked arena should be competitive, but its filled with kittened meta specs taking advantage of broken match making and its not fun.. Experience pvpers do not want to play in it anymore because of that.. Same kitten better not happen with Stronghold.

Reading the OPs verdicts, it seems to be about soloing. So everything that has been said above are true. Soloing is equally as hard/easy for anyone who can play whatever class. And group play… no comment.

I have heard some things that this is no longer available to make. Now I don’t know where this post should be so I put it in my home. Anyone know if this is still able to be made or not?

As a non-casual player myself, someone who enjoyed running high level fractals and grinded to get to a point where fotm came challenging I thank-you for the consideration, if only 90% of the “casuals” who come here to complain, could understand that their opinions and complaining affects a community of PvE enthusiasts.

Mobs go invulnerable if they can’t hit you for a certain period of time or if you are at a certain distance. Thats why if you decide to easy mode some bosses they go imvuln aswell.

I always invite 3 friends beforehand and then sell the path afterwards. I kick a friend one-by-one and after I have all 4 spots filled (I ask for the payment beforehand) I start killing the last boss and finish the dungeon. I’ve had people kick me in the past far too many times and I’d never risk it again even to my most trusted buyers.

Gratz on the solo. If I sell I normally do it duo, half the gold but its quicker, I digress. If you are duo always tell them to pay the guy that didn’t open because if he gets kicked it wont affect the instance. You also get a nice screenshot of an activity happening. Gz again on the solo.

Fractal Reward level 80 here, and I’ve gotten skins from 20-48 since I reached it. No Ascended weapon drops though.

That’s really good to read. Do you remember when did you last drop a skin/ring? Today (11/02/2013) I did another 48 run and got nothing.

I’d be most relieved if someone in the fifties said he got a skin from the last few weeks though.

I am level 50 and I can assure you, that the guys posting above are level 80 pr. And your concern is telling me, why you even doing fractals if you don’t know how the rewards work. I have only ever gotten one skin with over 100 dailies. Its all RNG. Dont like it no one on this forum cares anymore, we all getting sick of people complaining about rewards.

Wow, I got a lot of skins, I even destroyed them to free up some space. Every one knows that in 100 tries you’re very likely get a lot more than one skin if you don’t raise your level higher than 49! My achievement is capped at 484 fractals. I’m not complaining about low rewards! I don’t need the skins anymore as I have legendary on both weapon swaps.

I’m complaining that once your level is higher than 50 your chance of getting rewards seems much smaller or non existent, which is a bug or intentional, but unfair nonetheless! Lvl 80 might be an exception. I give up. People here are not even trying to understand what I’m saying. I’ll wait for Arena reply my request.

Im actually going to stop checking this thread, its unfair for the OP who came here for advice. OP, Guardian, Warrior and Ele are all good choices even mesmer. Just Ranger will be hard to learn because of the way the sword auto works, Engi is something just being integrated into more experienced team although your no liability to pug DPS. But guardians and warrior in pugs can never be to many.

Who said zerk gear? It was about the scholar runes 10% bonus when your hp is above 90% . Staying alive in a zerk gear is not a problem even if you’re
terrible, but keeping 90% hp is not always possible that’s why I prefer orbs .
I use them for roaming on my thief aswell and im pretty sure that
scholar bonus is useless in wvw, only for the opening strikes.

Thats quite a weird thing to say…Your obviously not skilled enough for PvE or WvW. Guan (the down to earth one, not euro theory Guan) told you if you stay at 90% for even just a quarter of a fight your scholar benefits. It wont, GS auto is horrible and you’re going to be stuck with it if you switch every nine. The only time swapping on cooldown is useful that I can think of is when you need energy sigil proc, but thats just Lupi solo/duo really. Its only burst damage, same kind of deal, if warrior didn’t have fast hands GS wouldn’t be used in a rotation, just as an open/close even though eviscerate should be your only way to close. If you want to switch every 9 seconds then maybe look at the GS build, because your overall DPS wont be affected.

I think ranger gives a lot of solo options if set up properly. I usually use bears for their toughness, and I generally can walk into a situation without worrying about the number of mobs. I do need to move quite a bit to stay alive and thin the numbers, but it still takes less than 1-2 minutes to clear 6 or 7 mobs even if there is a veteran (killing the adds first of course). The other advantage is not having to stress about adds. Plus I have solo’d several champions as a ranger, since my pets are so tough, just takes a bit longer than I have have patience for sometimes Champion rewards should scale if you solo it, yes this is primarily a group game, but I don’t always have time to play when my friends do.

Regardless, the key advantage to a ranger is to be a heartless b**ch and leave your pet to take the heat and aggro the mobs while you save your own kitten and run like hell. Also helps when you have a tough fight to snag a skill point or similar for map completion. Saved me from a few champion encounters where I realized there was no chance with the setup I had at the moment and, in each case, my pet died for me to live on R.I.P Fido!!!

Droping RHS is really tempting since i’m spending ~15 secs on GS and only 9 at sword, it feels like i don’t need RHS that much.

Should only open/close with GS, you burst then switch and camp, if another burst becomes appropriate you repeat but it often isn’t.

Few days ago i asked (at the guardian forums, biggest mistake ever)if using 25 instead of 30 points into radiance and perception stacks would boost my overall dps on long fights (60+ secs) compared to blood lust and RHS, assuming i’m making my skill rotations right… anyhow, is it worth it (damage wise) to drop 5 points into radiance and put’em elsewhere to use perception stacks and boost my burst with GS at the expense of losing DPS on sword attacks?

Damage wise no, but thats not saying its worse, taking superior aria and sticking 10 in honor is good, I spent 8g on a bloodlust sigil thats why I run 10,30 build but the other ones listed but the GS build are very good builds and probably would be more worth it as shouts are a big deal with guardians.

I don’t think 20 zeal is better than 25 virtues, and isn’t really worth it IMO. I would rather have the shout cd/boon-based damage increase and 10/25/0/10/25 build than the 5% dmg increase and paltry healing from the GS trait.

Its a GS build the DPS is slightly if I remember what Brazil said on stream, its more fun but its kitten.

Heres a good guide for guardian PVE dps – assassins is only better if you are short on crit once buffed- so pretty unlikely (ie never).

1h sword auto (the 3rd atk in the series) – but hammer for fractals and trash

Thats Brazil’s GS build, its not very good without maintaining 25 perception stacks. All the other builds people have listed above are better, provide a more DPS, although that build is good if you enjoy GS and get completely bored of 111111111 playstyle of s/f

I did this once again just to test things….I akitten 6~mins of the fight. I instructed the group my plan ^^ up there and it seemed to work. One guy on either side with cannons the rest clearing that poison and killing the mobs. Thats story done 6 times now goml

The guard refused to swap to melee , constantly died and ended up causing the party to wipe. So I left the party (was instance owner), called the guardian a kitten for not meleeing a simple fight and he messaged me this.

So someone from the QA team comes, but just say they know of it, but what are they going to do about it?

By what I am aware you just need to keep aggro, so being at the turrets. Have 2 on turrets and 3 defending. I’ve done story maybe 4 times now and never had those dragons reset once. I instructed my group this and it seemed to work. Hope that helps even though its late

Well to be fair, I am not safe when I use mine. Even if they are up preemptively I regularly take 1-2 projectiles each time because they land outside the wall but the aoe hits me.

Sometimes when he spins my projectiles do not reflect like they are supposed to or when they do reflect the damage is greatly reduced. Like when I do my killshot it only does 1-2k dmg and im full zerk with scholar. So plz fix this so I can killshot my allies to death.

10/25/0/25/10 should be used on all casual lupicus solo attempts imo. Unscathed is only for record pushes… avoiding every locust bite is difficult and using f3 and renewed focus as offensive skills can create some issues.

Need to tell me these things sooner!
