If you don’t have anything in precision why would you go for crit damage?
edit: precision not perception
(edited by Hassohappa.9278)
Xenos, are you an idiot?
There’s not a developer on this planet that would knowingly give a class in an MMO an ability with infinite range.
Witness the sarchasm.
I don’t think that you can stack the same sigil to get an amplified effect. Not totally sure on that.
If you have something socketed in your offhand it will affect your mainhand attacks and vice versa. So if you have a 30% chance to give might on crits in your offhand and crit with your mainhand you have a chance to apply might. Pretty easy to test in the mists, just get a lot of precision and the might on crit sigil in your offhand, you’ll end up with might stacks sometimes even if you just sit there attacking with your auto attacks.
And then you would help other servers win rather than your own because….
Just go through the EB jumping puzzle for 15ish easy badges a day. It’s a great way to get a boost to y our earned badges in the time you spend PvPing.
Disclaimer: This method only applies to 1/3 of the servers at any given moment.
No, our elites feel tacked on and underwhelming.
There is no feeling that they are related to our class abilities. We don’t have any other tome-type skills, so having two tomes as elites feels totally random. The tomes themselves don’t really feel especially powerful, certainly they can be useful sometimes but I don’t really feel like I’m using a 180 second cooldown when I use them and the fact that I can’t weapon swap out of them is very aggravating.
Renewed Focus maybe feels a bit better if you happen to be heavily specced into virtues; at that point the skill is giving you a stun breaker, aegis, 3 conditions removed, might, regeneration, protection, retaliation, a 1500ish heal, and a 5 second burn. If you’re not specced into it you get a 1500ish heal, an aegis, and a 5 second burn, which is pretty freaking disappointing for an elite.
I’m all for PvP, and I don’t mind uneven scenarios per se, but there are two issues I have with the jumping puzzle camping:
Arena Net went out of their way to remove any sort of griefing you could do anywhere except this puzzle, so anyone interested in griefing is going to be drawn exclusively to that one spot.
The camper’s advantage is totally absurd. They get the high ground, they get siege equipment, and they get traps made specially for the puzzle. It’s one thing for a guild to be camping outside an instance and keeping anyone from getting in it without dying repeatedly in a game like WoW. Here on top of generally having a numbers advantage the griefers also have just about every other advantage they possibly could given to them, and there’s no running back as a ghost or anything to allow you to make incremental progress.
Guardian tanking issues inside dungeons
But we aren’t tanks. There is no such thing. You aren’t a tank! Yes, you are tougher than most the other classes, but you shouldn’t be able to chain block. Aegis is fine, l2p.
If we aren’t tanks please tell all the mobs to stop focusing me.
It doesn’t cause burning or anything. Either the skill is supposed to cause burning and doesn’t or the skill isn’t supposed to cause burning and the tooltip is very inaccurate.
They were 10 silver yesterday night, now they are 35 silver. Is this all a repercussion of CoF farming being made less profitable?
Did none of you even read what the original post in this topic was about? You all started talking about how dumb it was that people could put in buy orders that couldn’t be fulfilled and items that wouldn’t sell at any price.
The OP was talking about items that sell well (say you know that they sell quickly because you have sold them in the past). Then suddenly you see when you go to sell the item that someone has undercut the current selling price (a price that people are definitely willing to pay) by 5s or more. Except it wasn’t just someone who sold the item at 5s less, it was someone that listed 107 of the item.
I have seen this happen before, where an item that was selling well at 55s was suddenly reduced to 50s and stayed there. The profit margin was cut (it was a craftable item) by 50% if you were willing to make conservative offers that wouldn’t necessarily be filled right away, and they were completely ruined for anyone using the “buy it now” feature. The 15% that is taken out of your profits makes buying and relisting his incredibly undercut items end up costing you 3.25s per item, so you can’t really do that either.
The worst part is that 10% of the TP fee is not mentioned, and the other 5% isn’t exactly shouted at you. So you don’t even know if the person that undercut everyone else by such a large amount even made the decision realizing what he was doing, because he might not have even known to calculate the TP operating costs when he was looking at what price he could profitably sell the item.
You don’t grant the passive part of virtue of resolve to everyone around you, you grant a crippled (my first choice of word seemed innocuous to me but apparently was not) form to three allied units (hope you don’t have a necromancer buddy).
Thats funny as when people are taking damage this one skill will heal anyone and everyone damaged around me. It doesent heal them as much as it heals me given absolute resolution does not work on battle presence but then again upwards of 20 people getting hit by it all at once for 150-175 a tick is quite powerful.
From my testing (and the wiki agrees with me too for whatever that is worth) it heals a maximum of 5 things, doesn’t benefit from absolute resolution, and ticks once every four seconds. It heals for 84+.06/healing power per 4 seconds. Compare that to symbols that heal 117+0.075/healing power every second in a symbol, or Elixir-Infused Bombs from engineers that start around 180/bomb and it just seems pitiful.
You can get a masterwork back piece later in the personal quest. You can get a rare back piece with 2 more of its primary stat and 1 more of its secondary stats for 5 gold from your guild armorer.
Soldier gear with knight jewelery?
Knight’s armor, soldier greatsword, cleric’s staff, knight’s earrings/amulet with a valkyrie ring and berserker’s ring and back.
15/25/5/20/5 spec
If he’s going for knight’s armor he’s not going glass cannon, he’s just focusing more on armor than health. That is generally good on a Guardian, because most of our survivability comes from healing and regeneration combined with a lot of attack negation (wall of reflection, multiple ways to give aegis, block attacks, and give protection). So all of your regen and healing is more worthwhile with more armor (each point of health you have is worth more than someone with lower armor).
That being said having base vit is still way too low. A lot of things like Signet of Resolve become hard to use when their heal is almost your whole health bar, you end up wasting abilites with overhealing. I have 2852 armor and 14565 hp with greatsword (13435 with staff) equipped and feel reasonably tanky while keeping 1819 power and 1865 precision.
Hmmm… enough time for Ring of Warding (Hammer) -> Blinding Blade (Greatsword) -> Use Blinding Blade (Pull) -> Whirling Wrath? Probably not enough time
No, but if you’ve got them in your Ring of Warding why would you need to land Binding Blade? Just hit Whirling Wrath and then Binding Blade after your ring ends.
No, the heal is 25 per hit regardless of your healing power. The only thing that comes close to being a decent heal is hitting whirling wrath on 5 people.
You don’t grant the passive part of virtue of resolve to everyone around you, you grant a crippled (my first choice of word seemed innocuous to me but apparently was not) form to three allied units (hope you don’t have a necromancer buddy).
I use something like this often:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fUAQJARWlYgyC33RGEmIFRWBRazggAs+Q8wUgR4D
It has a fair bit of damage (mostly focused on critting), and those crits give might to everyone around you and yourself. You have the 10% extra damage to burning targets and 10% extra damage to targets suffering conditions, so between the burns from your Virtue of Justice (which refreshes on kills) and the vulnerability from your symbols you can usually keep a condition on them, often burning for 20% extra damage total. Inspired Virtue works nicely with the reset on Virtue of Justice, and the last 5 trait points went into Virtues to help extend the might buffs you’re giving from your staff and your crits and it’s not unusual for me to switch in Hallowed Ground or Wall of Reflection for appropriate situations (and then I would switch the major adept trait to Master of Consecrations).
Both CoF and Manor need to be buffed in terms of difficulty to make those dungeon gears more exclusive. They’re both so commonplace as it is now.
So you got some easy loot and would really like them to make it so it’s not easy for other people to get?
What’s really fun to think about is that the people that have tag-dedicated builds will hit the diminishing returns on drops incredibly quickly, and then continue to tag enemies that drop nothing for them while people that haven’t been able to tag mobs continue to not be able to tag mobs.
I wish all of these events hadn’t been bugged during the first week, would have been my only chance to farm that easily.
One thing you might not know is that might gives condition damage in addition to power, so you can look into ways to get stacks of might as a way to increase your bleed damage as well.
Retaliation also isn’t affected by your opponent’s armor.
Group:
Virtue of Justice in an average group of 5 (works on NPC and can be more than five): 5.5 × 5 = 27.5 secs of burning (92% uptime).Solo:
With Renewed Justice, the target should at least be on fire for 6 secs when you engage it. Should be plenty of time to kill it (or complete your burst chain).
The max amount of burn time on an enemy is 25 seconds though. It’s still worth it to have the talent, Virtue of Justice and 15 points in Precision is enough to have a lot of uptime on burns and guardians have a number of other sources as well.
Symbol of Wrath:
Pierce the ground with a mystic symbol that damages and burns foes while granting retaliation to allies.
I assume that when it says burns foes that it means it applies burning to them. If the “burns” in the description only meant that it does damage as long as enemies stay in the circle it wouldn’t say “damages” right before that. However, it doesn’t appear that this skill ever burns anything unless it happens to proc the fifth hit of Virtue of Justice, and if that’s what the description meant then every offensive skill Guardians have should mention they burn foes. So what’s the deal?
Greatsword and Sword/Focus basically makes you immune to veteran and regular mobs. Throw 15 points into Radiance too.
10s cd blind on sword
20s cd blind on greatsword (easy to trait to 16s)
25s cd blind on focus
30s cd blind on Virtue of Justice (which is also refreshed on kills)
30s cd two second immunity on Shelter
40s cd aegis on Virtue of Courage (which can be activated for another aegis at any time)
45s cd three attack block on focus
Basically you can negate the first 10 attacks or so from most enemies and continue to thwart attacks on a regular basis after that. Everything listed there also disables multiple enemies at a time other than the aegis, so you can fight 3 or 4 enemies at once without any problems.
As near as I can tell these are the available stat combinations.
Craftable stats:
Power/Critical Damage/Precision
Magic Find/Power/Precision
Toughness/Power/Precision
Condition Damage/Power/Vitality
Condition Damage/Power/Precision
Critical Damage/Power/Vitality
Healing Power/Power/Toughness
Other stat combinations that are available in the game:
Condition Damage/Precision/Toughness
Healing Power/Precision/Vitality
Precision/Power/Condition Damage
Vitality/Healing Power/Condition Damage
Power/Toughness/Vitality
Magic Find/Power/Condition Damage
The auto-attack on the scepter is already the fastest! How fast do you want it to be? Also it has the worst damage of all weapon auto-attacks except for the staff (which is AOE). Are you sure you are not thinking of the mace or the hammer?
I wasn’t very clear, but I meant the auto attack’s projectile speed needed to be increased, not its attack speed. I don’t know if they intended for it to be so simple to avoid, so if they did perhaps they tried to account for that by having it do more damage than it otherwise would have. If that was the case then making it easier to hit with would mean that reducing the damage those hits did might be appropriate. I know its damage already isn’t particularly awe-inspiring, but I think they didn’t really intend for the Guardian’s ranged options to be overly devastating.
I think the mechanics of magic find should be changed to something like;
“it doesn’t exist”
I pretty much agree with this. We have no way of inspecting players to determine what they’re using, nor any sort of meters to help see who is pulling their weight. The fact that someone you pick up to run a dungeon with might be decked out entirely in magic find gear that is benefiting him to the detriment of the group is pretty lousy.
In Diablo 3 MF was averaged across all group members so that one person valuing MF over anything else would still help everyone by giving them added MF, even if their contributions in terms of damage were subpar. Certainly Diablo 3 did many things wrong, but I think it did that part right. Either changing it to average MF across your group or ridding the game of the stat entirely (and then replacing it with some precision/toughness/vitality gear XD) seems like a good idea.
I feel like Zealot’s Defense could be replaced with a Symbol of Fury and Smite could be changed to a Symbol of Might. That would give a symbol on all of the Guardian’s weapon options, buff scepters a fair bit, and keep 1h sword as a pretty offensive option with the fury. The auto attack on the scepter needs to be sped up some as well, perhaps at the cost of some damage.
The boost isn’t reflected in the popup, it should be applying to all your earned karma though.
Looked through TP earlier… Is it me or there is no more armor with both Vitality and Toughness on the same piece after 60?
Vigil Armor has, if you’ve choosen that path. Though their armor is Rare at best, but it’s not that much of a difference if you prefer those stats.
Are you kidding me? Now I have to remake my Guardian if I want those 2 stats on each piece?
Dungeon gear also has those stats. And is exotic level.
Looked at dungeon shops for 80, didn’T seems to have both Vit and Tough on a single piece. I might go for a remake, not like I mind that much anyway, but it’s kinda lame that an Order gets a special order of stats on their gears…
Sorrow’s Embrace and Honor of the Waves vendors both have level 80 exotic armor with power, vitality, and toughness on it.
For a while I used a greatsword and a sword/focus combo along with the traits that reset Virtue of Justice on kill and blind enemies around you when you activate it. Then you can jump in on around 5 enemies with your greatsword (blinding them), put up a Symbol of Wrath, use your whirl while activating your Virtue of Justice to reblind enemies after their first attack misses, hit your 5 skill (don’t remember name) then swap to sword, use your 2 skill to blind enemies again, use your 4 skill on your focus to reblind enemies after they miss again, mix in Virtue of Justice when an enemy drops to reblind, tank an attack with your aegis somewhere in there along with 3 more attacks that you can tank with your focus’s 5 skill, use your 2 skill on your sword again to reblind, swap back to greatsword cause its cooldowns should be up about now with another blind and a bunch more damage….
Basically if you want you can pretty much never get hit if you’re fighting less than 5 mobs at once (assuming none of them are champions).
I can say that I finished a 1-15 zone at level 80 and got level 26 items, and the 70-75 zone gave me level 71 exotics at 80. So it probably scales lower level areas a bit with your level to avoid ticking off anyone that outleveled the area they were 100%ing a bit before they finished completing it but it doesn’t scale enough to be abusable, and I think the higher level zones that have guaranteed exotics have the exotic’s level preset without any scaling (for instance every person I have seen link exotics from completing the Cursed Shore has linked one level 76 and one level 78).
Its not Really Rigged they still have a high chance of winning and he needs that 5% to make any profit
55 Loss rate is very good compared to most gambleing methods
were its like 1 or lower
He doesn’t have 5%, he has 10% because he took 5% from the other side as well (he wins 55% and loses 45%).
There are some casino games like Keno (bingo) and slot machines that are hilariously stacked against players, but many casino games have house edges far lower than the one he set. Roulette has it at 5.26% for a simple bet on red or black. Most games of Blackjack are below .5% (depends on number of decks used and table rules and such). He set his edge at 10%. That means that he wins 22.22% more often than the player.
On top of that the disadvantage of his game is blatantly obvious. Most gambling games (especially the ones with a huge house edge) obfuscate the fact that the player is at such a disadvantage, but with his game he made it blatantly obvious that anyone that played it was a sucker.
I didn’t say that he was a terrible person for doing it, I only said that it made me sad to think that people would want to do something that is so clearly unfair to them.
Hey everyone, I have a quick question. I was wondering if gambling is allowed? Incase you’re unsure the gambling I am asking about here is an example.
IN World of Warcraft, I would play a game. where players would trade me some money, say like 10g, then if they did /roll and rolled a number between 55-100 I would double their money. So if they traded 25g, and rolled a 84, then I would trade them back 50g, if they rolled like a 36, I get to keep their money.
I know GW2 doesn’t have a /roll feature, or at least I haven’t found it, but if I were to find something similar like this, am I allowed to do it? I didn’t realize it was against World of Warcraft’s rules, they allow NO forms of gambling. I searched GW2’s rules and I can’t find anything so, just want to make sure though.
Thanks!
It makes me sad that people play games that are that explicitly rigged against them.
Which area lowers you to lvl6 in a lvl 11 area? In my experience I’m usually 1-2 levels higher than mobs, and some times equal, but I can’t recall ever being down scaled to a lower level than them
I noticed as I went through Fireheart Rise that the area just north of Cozen Desolation has level 69 enemies (lava elementals IIRC). On the SW side of the area I was leveled down to 63, on the NE side I was leveled down to 71.
That being said the deleveling thing is fine in my book. It makes it so that they can put end game quality loot in all of the dungeons while keeping it challenging for level 80s but still possible for lower level people to run. That also means that at 80 you don’t have to wait for all of your friends to finish leveling up before it’s possible for you to play with them while doing something that benefits you.
Hit “o” to bring up the Black Lion Trading Company, go to Upgrades in the Gem Store.
As far as I know you have one home server that all of your characters are stuck on. You can visit other servers as a guest and do stuff there as long as you have a friend on that server. Last I checked you could still transfer your home server permanently for free but that was a while ago and probably was just a starting out thing so people didn’t end up on a server different from their friends.
Pretty much the only thing that “home server” is supposed to matter for is WvWvW.
Also you start with a max of 5 characters but can buy additional slots at 800 gems a pop.
