I don’t want to queue with afkers.
I don’t want to queue with trashtalkers.
I don’t want to queue with people that are just hoping to get carried.
I don’t want to queue with people that are clearly new to the game mode, and don’t listen to any advice the’re given to.
I don’t want to queue with match throwers (‘BWAAAAAAH, we lost a fight!’ Must mean we are going to lose the whole game, right?).
Please, give us away to avoid these kind of players and some even worse than them.
You mean duRRgeons, right?
That’s the only kind you guys are getting x)
It’s so-so. It all depends on how the gear and amulet changes pan out. If you put that aside, the changes are not spectacular, you will still need to be tanky if you want to survive, since we don’t have enough access to blocks, blinds, evades, stealth or invulnerabilities. So yeah, you’ll still SOAK damage and mitigate it however you can, with the difference being losing quite a bit of stats, specially if you go celestial in spvp.
1. Great.
2. Great.
3. Not really sure about this one, a single fear chain as they’re atm can be devastating, so I don’t know if increasing damage done by terror is the answer. Maybe increasing the damage on targets with no conditions would be a better option, specially with the current condi cleanse overload.
4. Not going to make that much of a difference, I’m afraid.
5. Nope, reduce it if you will. But such an important skill needs some cast time or a clear animation.
6. Wouldn’t mind increasing the corruption list up to 6-7 boons and maybe suffling some of the priorities so that you target more specific boons with it.
7. Mmmkay?.
My condolences to both family and friends.
Bumping this just so it gets the visibility it deserves. Best of luck.
Something’s wrong with yo link? I’ll check it tomorrow.
I think I’ve fixed it. Let’s see for how long, though ~~’

Seems pretty decent and prudent.
The fact that actually blasting your blast finishers gives you more might than a sigil is a nice sign. It’s specially interesting when you consider that cele engies get al their might from sigil swaps.
Nothing on doom sigil raises an eyebrow, though. Do you guys consider it a necessary evil?
Hooooly kitten, son. Calm down.
No real issues adressed with some heavy handed nerfs on the side.
Laughable.
Heavy handed nerfs? Or making things more balanced? I’m sorry you can’t Meteornado and 1 hit noobs any longer. You’ll live.
Try to be semi objective for the sake of the game overall.
Please, I don’t pve nor zvz, so try not to be condescending. Neither the tornado or the FGS nerfs could mean less to me.
That aside, the nerf to the trail stacking is heavy handed, and will effect unrelated skills because of what is our usual sloppy chopping. The burning speed + LF is one od the few decent burst combos that required timing to execute, and a good chunk of its damage is now lost, meh.
ZvZ is the only situation Meteornado works.
I’m not being condescending. I’m being straight forward. You’ll live, you’ll keep playing ele, your builds won’t change or get worse because of this patch. That’s a success in my book, and if it isn’t in yours, you’re taking for granted the terrible nature of patches in the past.
Fiery greatsword trail isn’t that large of a nerf. If your build in WvW or PvP relied on it then it was probably a poor build. I do feel for the PvE eles, though.
No build relies on either of those things. Not mine nor anyone else’s. But you’ll have to understand that despite of wether the ele has been viable or not at a given peeiod od time, it’s always suffered from some very constant issues that are always left untouched. And that’s just becoming increasingly evident after two years. And annoying.
I’m not ‘taking for granted’ the bar nature of ele patches, it’s just too rare to see anything good to come from them. And this gone is not changing the trend, either.
Exactly, so quit the kittening.
Sorry I’m just so tired of the people crying that “we’re going back to the 4 war/1 guard meta!!111!1!1”
And where the kitten did I exactly imply that?
If the nerf kittenes me off it’s because it affects completely unrelated skills that work just fine, all for the sake of fixing a PvE problem that will remain a problem after this nerf. Add to that that there’s stil more than PvE to this game and, well, you’ll see why I think this change is kittened.
No real issues adressed with some heavy handed nerfs on the side.
Laughable.
OH NOES FGS IS NERFED WHATEVER SHALL WE DO, OH NO WE CAN’T ABUSE THE PRETTY OBVIOUSLY UNINTENDED TORNADO GLITCH ANYMORE
Oh right, aoe vuln and continue nuking.
Sorry, but you people who honestly think we’re being hit hard are adorable. If you honestly required FGS to not be useless in groups or Tornado-meteor to be useful in a zerg, you shouldn’t be playing ele.
Been playing ele for around two years, you’re not talking to an idiot, so drop the caps, plees.
Now, eles got hit hard, wether the functionality of such skills was intended or not. I can see the reasoning behind nerfing meteornadoes, but the FGS nerf will mean zilch in the grand scheme of (PvE) things.
No real issues adressed with some heavy handed nerfs on the side.
Laughable.

’Tis so exciting! Pretty sure the game will only be dull from now on instead of downright unplayable!
Comet needs to stay as it is if we ever want it to interrupt someone, as odd as it is with its weird cast time.
Dragon’s tooth, on the other hand, could use a little buff.
No real issues adressed with some heavy handed nerfs on the side.
Laughable.
Did they explain at all how ferocity is going to work? It sounds like it’s still just an RNG percentage chance except now hidden behind a numerical stat.
New stat. New formula. Probably a linear progression? Who knows. The didn’t unveil more.
No change to stats was gonna ‘fix’ PvE. So I don’t get how berserker not being nerfed “enough” does matter.
But carry on with the whining.
I’d assume ferocity would be treated as a primary stat. Just guessing.
Pretty sure they mentioned a thief nerf for choking gas… i think reduced duration of poison.
Yep, from 5sec a tick to 3sec.
Well, it doesn’t have to be bad… but it won’t probably do anything to solve the real problems with the game.
Too bad.
Just in case you didn’t see it.
Citizens,
This Friday at 2PM PST (22:00 GMT) we’ll be hosting another episode of Ready Up. I’ll be joined by Game Designers Jon Peters, Jon Sharp, Karl McLain, and Roy Cronacher.
In this episode we’ll be talking about a few of the things the Skills and Balance team is working on for the next balance update, including:
- Runes and sigil rework
* Critical damage changes- New stat combinations for PvP (amulets)
- High-level overview of planned balance changes
You can catch the livestream at www.twitch.tv/guildwars2
We’ll see you then!
So, again, since my last post was deleted: has there been any conversations about the viability of a mild HP buff to the class, something around ~2500 HP?
A stomp every 75seconds is so very OP.
Something to prevent:
-Skill spam (cast bars, energy system).
-AoE spam (thus reducing the visual clusterkitten).
-AI play (make pets important ONLY IF you use their actives properly).
-Passive skills and traits need their importance reduced.
-Once you’ve managed to ‘slow down’ the game, take a good look at how vigor and endurance regen mechanics work.
-Remove perma CC stacking from just one source (if you want to keep a player locked down, it should be a team effort).
B-b-but just think about the possibilities! Getting your favourite lackluster weapon trait has never been easier!
I think it’s about time I shelf my ele.
The more I think about the renewing stamina change the more stupid I find it. I just can’t wrap my head around such a huge nerf out of nowhere.
I gather that moving elemental attunement up one tier was kind of a necessity given how strong it was. But I still don’t get why they would move renewing stamina together, other than trying to force a choice between the two traits, which, given the lack of improvements elsewhere, is kick in the balls.
Overall the changes to arcana are meh, I expected them to go apekitten bananas and completely overhaul how attunement recharges work, parting with the gimmicky fresh air.
Funny how many people are answering the OP and telling him how wrong he is based on their experiences on both PvE and ZvZ while he’s talking exclusively about tPvP.
But game on, my friends.
Really? he spent more time talking about WvW than tPvP is his post – WvW is PvPvE, so…
Uh, I missed that part. Still doesn’t change the fact that people are just either answering about PvE stuff (wut) or about what happens or what does not happen in a zerg.
Pretty unrelated if you ask me.

Came up with them in around two minutes.
S/D insta burst should have some kind of counterplay involved, you could start with some added icon saying ‘fresh air is ready’. Then you could benchmark as much as you want :V
Seems like a molten alliance FFD
(Farting Floating Device)
It could be anything, literally.
I….. I can’t believe he’s saying ele sits in only fire and uses 1-2 attunements…. I’m at work or I’d play it right now…. This must be a joke… Right? Right? RIGHT?!?
He didn’t.
So I have played my ele for over 300+hr to get to a level of skill that I am comfortable with. The elementalist is a class that you just dont walk into and are magically good. The thief was like that for me.
Funny, *bold*I found the Ele terribly easy to play and took me little to master it being that it’s a class based on rotations/fields*bold*, while I found a lot more depth in the Thief as the skill ceiling is your reaction/reflex ceiling, in that have you split the second to achieve perfection.
But hey, some people spam Heartseeker and think they can play the Thief so really.
So you just found the basics to be basic.
I guess cero was referring to how easy thieves are compared with almost anything else, since the class can be pretty rewarding with very little effort.
This is the only approach I’d ever take to D/D ele GC (actually, I just came with it in a pair of minutes)

Seems like something a troll would run in hot join…
P.S.: Copy-paste if it doesn’t work, yada, yada.
Ya know, fire attunement and farts are pretty lethal.
I can’t take this seriously, I’m sorry.
I’ve always found that stealth in this game is too forginiving. Hmh, I think that instead of lowering the stealth cap we should be punishing poor performance while in stealth, for example, if you use a skill and that skill fails, misses, is blocked or evaded, you get revealed. Or if you are damaged beyond a certain threshold (more than a 10% of your HP, maybe?), you should get revealed too. As I said, if you kitten up while in stealth, you should lose advantage, and be forced to either back away a little or think things twice.
On the subject of higher HP plateaus, it’s something that could work if it’s done little by little, and applied to all classes on a similar fashion. For example I’d go with something like this:
Lowest tier: 13,5k base HP.
Mid tier: 16,5k base HP.
High tier: 19k base HP.
That would bring all the classes closer and still get them somewhat distinct, which is kind of what the developer is going after.
Overall, I like this post. I don’t think nerfing thieves’ burst will bring something great to the game, and if the devs were to nerf their burst, they’d need to make other options available to them, such as some form of decent sustained damage.
Really another nerf to engineer? We are the least present class in tpvp. Grenade damage just got nerfed for 30 freaking percent!
Give us a break already!
He’s just trolling, pay no mind to what he says.
Wow.
Just wow o_o’
Weird thing is, the fire shield animation appears, the fire shield effect just doesn’t apply.
Well, it does apply if you get stuck long enough for it to activate a.k.a, getting self-stunned for around 5 seconds.
THese auras used to activate elemental shielding and zephyr’s boon, but that was changed a while back saying it was unintended.
The ‘unintended’ part was about the blast finishers from EA.
No, they were separate nerfs. Anyway, it was nerfed because players could keep up protection fairly easily using it along with elemental shielding.
I can’t remember anything about this, do you happen to have a link to the exact patch or dev quote? It’d be very disheartening to hear it was another intended nerf.
I thought it was a bug considering it still activates, just not as reliably as it used to.

If I had to guess I think it’s related to the fact that shocking aura comes from a MH weapon, thus being more crucial to your gameplay style, than an OH which is more like a complement.
Shocking suggestion!
It’s true they aren’t that hard, but they’re still harder than most professions.
