Every time one of these posts come out, people (I assume avid condi players) always say stuff like “you don’t have condi cleanse?” as if the stupidly imbalanced condi classes can’t reapply the them isntantly.
The problem with condi is that you got stupid shutdown capabilities WHILE also doing stupid high damage, which is easy to apply/reapply. Most of the cleanse skills take away 2-3 condis at max, while the ones that remove all of them are under long-ass cooldowns. How are you suppossed to remove cripple, chill, burn, poison, bleed, torment etc, with your modest condi cleansing?
You don’t have to worry about that with power built enemies. You just dodge, dodge, dodge, (you can literally pull out vigor out your ass at this point of the game) a few blocks here and there and that’s it. Stuns are rare tbh and most of the time hard to apply.
5-7 stacks of bleed alone and you are already doing damage equivalent to some bread and butter power skills, each second.
Condi classes should not have so many crippling condis, they should have only damage ones.
Doesn’t bother me at all, on the contrary, makes me happy to see that that level of money-hoarding hasn’t reached Anet (forcing new players to purchase an old expansion separately if they wanna play the class.)

Rifle Deadeye is fine, its absurdly powerful as an offensive supporter (with good positioning/taking advantage of terrain and having an easy escape route), people like to kitten too much about kneeling. I myself kittened about it a lot too, but after the weekend I found out not to be that bad at all.
Someone complaining about the devs actually listening to the community and making new content/mechanics for the game… just when you think you cannot see anything new in these forums
If clutter is the problem, I guess something like this would work at least. It would make a huge difference u_u.
This has been asked for since druid came in the game.
Now, a new expansion is ocming. A new expansion means brand new enemies/mechanics that nobody knows how to beat yet, its a perfect place for a healer/support char to shine.
Please, for the love of all that is sacred, let us have an option that makes players healthbars visible in PvE, hell even a small health percentage number next to the player name would be amazing. Tired of spamming heals hoping someone in need received them. Some of us like to play pure healers/Rezzers in events.
If lots of healthbars in a zerg would be difficult to implement, maybe an option like “Show other player’s healthbars if they are below X% health” would help.
It can’t be that hard, can it?
All I want is a flipping option to toggle health bars in open world, that way I dont spam heals as druid hoping I hit someone needing them.
I wonder if 4 spam with auto attack filler + 7 malice would be better than daredevil against bosses, probably not but waaaaaaaay safer
But… D/D and Rifle Deadeye rotation would be interesting to see…
Start with dual dagger auto until you build 7 malice, switch to rifle and throw 3 or 4 rifle 4, then switch back to dagger auto… repeat.
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
make an ele and log on it and see for yourself the difficulty of pulling/landing that combo perfectly… not to mention that if it doesn’t kill the enemy ele is screwed after
smh now people are asking to nerf zerker eles? LOL the irony
They need to make kneel kind of like a stance, you can move freely but standing still automatically makes you kneel. Making you unmovable is extremely bad, considering the fact that absolutely every class has no problem reaching you in a blink of an eye.
Make rifle skill 5:
Deadeye’s stance:
Grain swiftness for 15 seconds. For 30 seconds, every time you stand still you kneel instead. (40 sec recharge?)
-or-
For 30 seconds, every time you stand still you kneel instead. Gain 3 seconds of superspeed after moving from a kneeling position (5 second recharge).
Or maybe make it a grandmaster trait.
Unmovable, turret-esque mechanics do not belong in a game paced this fast. This isn’t an early 2000’s MMORPG
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
Not sure if that’s the case with all of the other mounts, but I find annoying that I can’t strafe left/right while holding right click with the raptor. But I guess it would look weird if they could do it.
If I remember correctly, way back in the past the devs said Cantha and Elona would not be available in GW2 because NCSoft demanded the game to be kind of “culture neutral”, that’s why we had the big sinkhole in Divinity’s Reach, cause it was originally a Canthan disctrict, but they had to scrap it at the last moment, thus making the great collapse, which represented how ArenaNet felt with such decision.
Now we are going to Elona and we clearly have African features available for our characters.
Does this mean that NCSoft has taken back this decision, and maybe we’ll see Cantha as well in the future?
Overload air pre-visual nerf.

What I find funny is that Anet sold GW2 on playing characters how you like. And you’re arguing that just play meta it’s soo easy why complain.
For comparison I have a necromancer in full viper’s gear, I can kill things soo much faster and the more the merrier. So far no ele build I’ve played can survive/handle the level of conditions, mobs, and equal damage output. I don’t expect them to play the same, but there should be comparable builds to handle those situations which the Ele severely lacks.
Well man, probably Ele is not for you, because power and condi tempest is easily on par with reaper dps, and sometimes above (big hitbox)
I really don’t understand posts like these. Not trying to be rude or offensive, but it seems that the game doesn’t get much easier (in PvE) than playing tempest. You have tempest right? (Assuming you do cause you said warhorn was ok).
You got one of the strongest, hardest hitting spells in the game (which is also an AoE) on a 5-6 second recharge, plus you can move around while doing it. I’m talking about Overload air spam of course. It might not be the most fun build, but certainly one of the most effective. You got a strong heal, plus a moderate-to-strong heal in overload air, plus arcane shield if you are really having problems getting hit, and eye of the storm shout to make things easier.
So your argument is it’s ok that it’s a bad skill because TEMPEST can overload air? What about those lvling an ele who can’t use tempest, or game modes where you would die before you could get air ol off? Having an ability in an elite specialization is not justification for a weapon skill to be bad
if you don’t have tempest then use staff and learn to dance around lava font, ez. This game’s PvE is easy as cake, dunno why so much trouble, everything dies with 1-2 skills
god this title is such kitten clickbait

If they ever make a new race, they could just make it so that when you create it, it is automatically level 80 with full exotics of your choice, and then place it at the start of the new expansion, just like TERA did with their new classes.
There is no point in forcing illogical lore as to why, for example, you can see Revenants in Queensdale. Makes so much more sense lore-wise and with the living world feature that a new race would join the fight at the current time of events. That would be their personal story.
After that, if you want you can, non-canonically, go back to the core game and do everything.
Sadly, don’t think it will be happening TBH, if you check the animations for the playable models, you can see those are the best animated models in the entire game. Anet doesn’t have enough resources™ to do that again.

- Elixirs, a sort of one-time character based stat boost. They offer stat upgrades similar to infusions (I’m thinking maybe +25 to a stat), but are permanent. Each character can only benefit from a particular elixir once. They’re also expensive to make. For instance, one of the ingredients might be “Essence of Berries”, which requires 250 Blueberries, 250 Strawberries, 250 Blackberries and 250 Raspberries. This is then combined with other ingredients to make the Elixir.
That’s just going to push up all the scrubby elitism just futher.
“Fractal daily run, no necro/revenant, full asc, potions, food and elixir or kick”
The days of stationary turret characters are long gone man. The other day I tried Lineage 2 just for the sake nostalgia and holy kitten I didn’t last a minute there. Can’t believe that was the norm of MMORPGs and we used to play like that before.
Cooking 500 could implement “Legendary dishes” for lack of a better name. Would let you choose the 2 effects from the pool we already have. Or maybe even longer duration.
Jeweler 500 seems like an obvious thing. Craft ascended accesories, especially Viper ones since I can’t be bothered to grind achievements/map currencies to get a set of those.
seriously though, why are viper accesories painfulyl grindy to get? Its time they put other options for acquiring them. Haven’t touched a condi build since HoT launched because of that stupid grind you have to do to get them.

Not enough resources™
Very difficult to implement™

I remember overload air used to summon a black thundercloud. That was cool. Now it just shows lightning bolts coming out from thin air and the funny thing is, the description still says: “Summon a nimbus that…”
I don’t see why there’s no option to activate these “advanced” effects for the people that have the machines capable of handling that. Just put them under an “Ultra” tag in the animations option.
Check out the power plan maybe? Make sure it is in best performance or w/e its called in laptops. I used to play in a lap and playing while in power saver mode affected performance.
This should be a well skill. Well of plague.
I actually think the opposite, the lenghtier/harder the last mission, the better, it felt like a real conclusion to the story.
I won’t deny though, that the fight with Zaithan was crap, you really didn’t interact with him besides spamming the cannons.
For an elder dragon, a being who is immensely powerful, it really felt anticlimatic just watching him soar every now and then and do nothing but get in the way of your lasers.
Maybe if anet made the fight so that Zaithan grapples the ship and you had to hit his face/arms to repel him or the ship would slowly drift down and crash (restart from a point after that) or that sort of thing, would’ve been awesome. But yeah, Not enoUgH ResOurCes™ amirite?

Terrible FPS after latest content release
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Knuckle Joe.7408
Well I’ve noticed new zones are more “heavy” or demanding because of the flux of players+full of effects/particles. The bloodstone map for example, it dropped my FPS slightly in certain areas because of all the red mist around and stuff, and I’m using a i7 6700k, MSI Geforce GTX 1070 (8gb), plus 16gb RAM. Maybe that’s what’s happening to you? In which zones in particular are you experiencing the worst FPS drops? If its Lion’s Arch or the new maps that might be it, legendary armor probably made a lot of players return, which might be it, as the maps are more busy. (Maybe?)
I’d say raids are lighter than a new map, there isn’t that much stuff going around (after all its only 10 players + the boss)
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
That’s really confusing, as you said, why would he bring it to Primordus, and why would the machine have a clearly visible energy link to Prim. Also, can Balthazar, god of fire, would be fine if he absorbed Jormag’s magic (ice magic)? Or does the dragon energy has no element when in its pure form? I’m guessing Balth got overwhelmed by the power, not knowing that he was absorbing two polar-opposite magics and got destroyed (if he really is gone though).
Your theory about taking it to the volcano so the player can’t follow him makes sense, but this is still really confusing
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
How did the machine make Jormag supposedly go asleep as well? They were going to use the machine to dive into the eternal alchemy and destroy both dragons from there by manipulating their magics.
But clearly the machine was used in a different way with Balthazar’s intervention, and of course it was destroyed. I do not understand how Jormag became affected by it when it was being used to sap magic from Primordus.
I’m guessing Primordus went dormant because of all the magic that got sapped out of him by Balthazar with the direct connection with the machine, and destroying said machine dispersed that magic. But Jormag? Was he being sapped out of his magic as well, even though the machine wasn’t connected to him, but only to Prim? This confuses me.
maybe in expac 4 if there’s such thing
What if you want some but not the others?
That’s a good point, but really, the most useful thing IMO would be the single ecto at level 70 or so lol. At least a “Discard items” in each level up window so you can quickly storm through them without filling your inventory bags with unsellable stuff.
It would be really nice to have an option to accept/discard all of the crap you get when leveling an alt with tomes. After the 80 levels, you are forced to sit there and click through 80 levels worth of crappy items. Not to mention than most if not all are soulbound and cannot be quickly sold to a merchant or be salvaged, which doubles the hassle of manually destroying them.
Yeah I can see the pattern, Thief for exapmle was the king of evades, HoT comes up and, as you said, they crank it up to 11 with all the evades from staff, extra dodge bar and the new heal. Seems real unimaginative and lazy.
Whole new ways of playing the classes would be awesome, instead of “upgrading” the vanilla profession and therefore making it obsolete.
I hope the new specs don’t make the HoT ones obsolete like how the HoT did with core classes. I’m not sure if it will happen though, as the devs have to make them in a way that encourages players to use them, for example, imagine if the expac comes and eles find that tempest is better, what a flop that would be. (What could be better for PvE than overload air spam makes me curious though, we’ll see what they come up with.)
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
Just imagine playing ele or engi with a console controller LOL.
Putting the tech aspects aside, it would be near impossible to play GW2 wit ha controller, FF14 has this thing where you get little submenus for the skills (exapmle: skills are fire 1, fire 2, fire 3 and so on, so each skill type is in a little submenu) easily accessible with the controller, but FF14’s gameplay and rotations are simpler and slower. Someone succesfully playing engi or ele in a raid environment, heck even dungeon WITH a controller would be a sight to behold.
I’m sorry man
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
Dodge shouldn’t give invul frames, just a quick, “get out of the huge AoE nuke” move or for dodging projectiles. Its incredibly dumb how you can “dodge”, for example, stuff like the legacy Skyhammer laser while clearly staying inside the blast radius, or 3 phantasms that just exploded in your face.
Invulnerability frames on dodges ruin so many perfectly fine abilities that I can say removing them would single-handedly fix a ton of “useless” tagged skills (in pvp).
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
inb4 “omgggGg stop SexuaLizing female CharSssss and asuraS they don’t Need a SkiRttt sexisTS!”
But on a serious note, I’d really like that, its so different from everything that’s in the game right now. (Buttcapes).
The thing with GW2 is that its more of an action-oriented MMORPG rather than a traditional one. This is why the skills are fixed to weapons. TBH its better that way because in a traditional MMORPG you are stuck with the same weapon and the same “hard-hitting, bread and butter skill” characteristic to the class. Sure, GW2 still has some of those problems, like not so useful skills, but not in such a severe way.
And mesmer, well, mesmer is a more PvP oriented class. In PvE, only a handful of skills are useful. I accept that as a problem though, they need to bring back the old GW1 system of splitting skills for PvP/PvE, they have done it to a certain level here, but its not so much.
Is Anet really that crippled now, compared to GW1 days? Give me one good explanation besides the “Not enough resources”. I mean, they are selling expansion for a really nice price right there, surely they can dish out AT LEAST new weapons.
The reason we think this way is because in the 4.5 years GW2 has existed, Anet has never given us evidence they are either willing or able to deliver new weapon animations to player characters. They had to re-use hammer animations for the new melee staff on thief/rev. And if you actually look at those animations they transition very poorly. The character will “snap” from one pose to another in certain situations and it looks terrible.
Anet has good animators. They seem to be focused more on animating enemy creatures, raid bosses, world bosses, etc. That’s because technically speaking there are less transitions to worry about for NPCs. Also keep in mind animation is actually very expensive relatively. It takes many hours just to animate a few seconds of motion. If I had to guess (as a freelance animator myself) Anet is just trying to save money by re-using old animations and creating as few brand new ones as possible.
I know it’s not the answer you want to hear but it really does come down to “not enough resources”. Yes they could absolutely give us new weapons fully animated, but it would take away from some other area of production, and Anet has to make a cost/benefit decision regarding that.
Fair enough man, and you’re right, the animation work in this game is one of the best I’ve seen in MMO’s its a shame they keep up recycling stuff. I can just imagine the hype that a new expansion with 2 new classes complete with their weapons/animations would bring to this game, but I guess that’s just stuff for subscription MMO’s.
And now that I think about it, I guess it would be too much work doing animations for 5 different races, but meh. Race lock could work around this, but people would lose their kitten with that. Still, a race-locked new classes/weapons could be way better than none at all.
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
Great ideas. One has to wonder though, why most of the time it is so IMPOSSIBLE and UNSPEAKABLE to even think about new weapons/animations? I mean, they did it with GW1, Paragon, Dervish, Assassin and Ritualist all 4 had compeltely different battle postures/animations than the core classes, plus in the case of of all except ritualist, different weapons. I find it disturbing that some fans have come to accept no new stuff like weapons/armors/animations and even defend ANET when someone brings that up.

What’s hurting GW2 is the fact that there’s nothing to do but grind. Dungeons got placed in a box and thrown in the closet, raids are extremely difficult for 90% of the players (not to mention elitism scrubs who won’t accept people without X number of LI’s, even though they might me sick playing their class), etc.
There is really no reason to do any other thing in the game than farm events to get richer, and when you do get rich what do you do twith the money? Nothing, there’s nothing to spend it on but legendaries or BL weapons, and even if you do acquire one, now what? play the same mindless stuff to show it off.
GW2 needs randomly generated stuff. Probably a dungeon/dungeons where you fight increasing number of waves of mosnters, each stronger than the last, until your party gets overwhelmed. Fun content is where its at. Feels like everything they put its an excuse to justify a farm of some kind.
Halloween? Farm for skins
SAB? Farm for skins
etc…
Just implement stuff for the sake of fun. Make the experience the main point instead of the prize at the end, not the other way around.
Longbow on ele, I wanna shoot elemental arrows a la Zelda style. Imagine how sick an elementalist with a stormbow would look.
Elite skill:
Primordial shot
Focus all your elemental magic in a pwoerful shot imbued with your current element:
Piroclastic shot: heavy damage and heavy burning
Glacial shot: low damage, long lasting AoE chill and AoE healing plus water field for 10 secs.
Enervating shot: Very low damage, 15 stacks of vuln for 5 seconds and stun for 5 seconds.
Tectonic shot: Moderate damage, 2 knockdown, blindness and 25 stacks of bleeding for 2 seconds.
OR
Elite skill: Conjure Greater elemental quiver
Conjure a greater elemental quiver depending on your attunement for 10 seconds, gaining additional effects to your attacks.
Piroclasmic arrows: Your attacks burn and do 20% additional damage
Frostbite arrows: Your attacks chill for 2 seconds.
Sparking arrows: Your attacks apply 3 stacks of vulnerability and have a 20% chance of stunning your enemy for 1 second.
Obsidian arrows: Your attacks apply 2 stacks of bleeding and 1 second of cripple.

Ele still has top DPS over large hitboxes (with Sc/Wh) and moderate DPS over small boxes (Sc/Wh)
Staff (e.g. ez mode) has been nerfed though.
Ez mode? How is staff ez mode? just because you were attacking at range its not easy mode. And how is D/Wh fresh air overload spam harder than it?
Staff you had to rely on teammates to get aggro off you.

Stopped playing ele after the last nerf. You would think the squishiest class in the game would have the highest risk/reward ratio of them all, but not in this game. kittening raid-induced nerfs are destroying the game.
And the problem with these kittening devs is that when they nerf something, they don’t simply reduce the effectiveness, most of the time they completely kitten on it to the point of making it useless and unusable.
(edited by Knuckle Joe.7408)
Ele pre-ice bow nerf. Was real fun to completely gib groups of mobs with a rain of fire and ice. Then it got nerfed.
Been playing solo 90% of the time since closed beta. The only times I’ve played with other people via voice comm software is when doing raids, and even then I prefer to remain silent and answer with “Ok”, “Yeah”, “Got it” etc. I’ve been told in some pugs “Hey you’re awfully silent Knuckle Joe, you there?” lol.
Just make functionality as the one grom GW1, simple.
Make it a targeted debuff, kind of like pulmonary impact. Very small damage and 10 seconds of 5 vuln when casted, and after 2 seconds, dragon tooth-like damage and 2 seconds of chill but increase cooldown to 10-15 secs.
Or make it do 30-40% of the damage you did while it is charging to be inflicted on the enemy when it expires. That would be a nice fire-and-forget mechanic like the shatterstone from GW1.
That would make it synergize well with scepter ele without being op. Use the initial damage to refresh air, then wait a bit to line a nice spike when it expires+switch to air or, with my second suggestion, fire it and unleash hell.
Eles don’t need more useless AoE’s that can be walked out of with 2 steps or that make you target practice when being channeled.

Meteor shower is back to normal.
Illusions in Guild Wars work a bit different than in most other games, where a person can ‘disbelieve’ illusions to have them not work. In Guild Wars, illusions work to fool the world itself basically. If an illusion looks like a sword it works like one, regardless of if people know it is illusion or not. So illusions would work just fine on mindless undead.
I stand corrected, you are actually right, the official description says they manipulate reality, which would really give them an edge. Ha, that would be a dream team, Mesmer distracts the horde and balls it up with clones while Elementalist comfortable casts meteor shower.
