PW is not that incredible especially considering that it is quite easy to mitigate/evade it when you see it coming.
However, I think it could use a longer cast time so that an infiltrator’s strike immobilize end and pistol whip cast have at least 0.5-1 second between them.
Other than that, I think it’s fine.
The evasion that it imparts could be toned down also.
here’s a casual question, why on earth would you need to give someone a stack of dishonorable if they dc/leave/quit a team q?

i mean.. skyhammer and spirit just both really need to go. Everytime i get one of those maps my heart just sinks..why in soloQ but not teamQ if map is so normal?

lol ok, so I haven’t been on in a while (~2 weeks) mainly because I’m pretty fed up with the game.
I only play for Spvp.
My issue is this:
I am super down to Q with randoms that aren’t always great. However, rank 1’s and <r10’s kitten me off.
They literally have no idea what they’r doing, hop into a Q with some FOB build or more like the default one and just mess up the game.
This happens like ~ every 5games for me.
Among the plethora of issues with spvp in this game such as the regular 4v5 due to either AFK,leaver or bug( like every 5games and sometimes even more frequently). Why on earth have newbies been allowed to Q into something that is competitive and affects player seeding?
That makes no sense to me, I think it would be astronomical if <rank 10’s or even <rank 15’s would not be able to queue into solo Q.
Moreover, it would be great for the devs to make the default builds for noobs at least marginally useful. WTF are these builds that you let them start out with? lmao. Change them to the meta, or at least more useful ones.
Team Q is fine. I’m only referring to solo Q.

Just a word to everyone on this thread disagreeing with cruuk’s build choice. I have to say just watch his stream. I have observed many thieves’ game plays and imo cruuk just fills such a great role. He is just able to put such consistent pressure on far point without fail. He rarely drops too. He decaps and keeps neuts consistently. With a good team, a build like cruuks is op. With a bad team, a build like cruuk’s carries.
His build is solid and smart and he is literally at the build’s skill cap. it remains true to the spirit of thief and, to be frank, he’s the only thief I’ve seen take down spirit rangers and necros consistently. He’s rarely even on the losing end of an extended duel. So truly truly take a good look at his build and emulate.
Watch his gameplay instead of arguing. I haven’t really seen any other thief do what he does..
he fills such a great and unique thief niche.

If they had made this an spvp map only first before forcing it down our throats to at least see its issues people wouldn’t b going wild. I mean Jesus Christ wtf is the meaning of spoiling team runs in tpvp js to show this stupid map. They could have at least let us try it in spvp alone first.
To be frank, all thought on the map rating aside, I will never understand what possessed anet into putting a brand new map into tournaments instead of seeing how it was received in just spvp first.
Can anyone please reason that logic for me?
Do they expect teams to suddenly start running on a map they’ve only read about? Even pugs, they gain nothing from trying this map in a tourney instead of spvp.

They should bar tournament play from players below rank 10.
The average rank of two teams should not differ by more than ~15
For me, its just for Incendiary powder to cast more burns
And, to a lesser degree, Sharpshooter for more bleed stacks.

Yea I guess rock dog and bleeding from my sword doesnt remedy that as effectively as possible. If theyr getting time to breathe, so am I though? i usually js shield bash back in if i see em try to heal anyway. Good point. Bleh. warriors are tough..

guess it only works for me
conditions dont have enough time to kill me but they do damage like any other sustained dps. They are typically the only thing that can kill me since i can stun and immobilize. engage and disengage very very easily.
That’s the only way in which i feel the warrior class is lacking in spvp apart from banners being useless in spvp and shouts such as fear me just having humonguous cool downs or only removing like 1 single condition like shake it off.
honestly, I don’t see how this loses out that much in dps vs a typical glass cannon warrior . about 3k attack along with evi. I don’t use 100b and most glass cannons that use that for gank instead of using gs to get around, disengage or punish noobs are typically very easy to deal with. Don’t you agree?

First of all, I just wanted to give you all props to sticking with a class that is literally so pitifully ignored with respect to its balance issues in spvp. Now let me introduce mysely,
My name is twindragona I’ve been playing gw2 for a while and I’m a serious pvp goon. I took a break before about 2 months ago due to college getting hectic . I love theorycrafting, working out class mechanics and improving skills. Thats what attracted me to this game in the first place: The fact that there is actually a tangible difference between players with skill despite the equal footing in terms of gear and access to equipment. I’ve played the game since beta but only casual pvp. I hate pve and I believe that role players are from satan. Until about 4 months in I had no level 80. I have about 800hrs of game time logged (/age to check btw). I main an ele and thief. I have played all classes to understand them. Warrior has always been my worst.
My thief is Skobeloff. My Ele is twindragona, my ranger is Twinpokies, my warrior is Twin butcher… list goes on many twins…except for my thief. I don’t get more creative than that.
Yesterday, I I decided to look into the warrior and figure out some of its mechanics because I knew how bad the warrior situation is and wanted to see if I could still learn it and rock at it. I wanted a challenge. so I looked through traits and came up with this build that I’ve now been using for a day
I tried contacting some big guns like Hmann, tehmaker, defektive or kpop js to see them use it in a duel with me on my ele main because there is always a required amount of skill behind a build and they are very familiar with ins and outs such as juggling etc. I am too, but they’d be better. Unfortunately, I’m currently interning in an EU country and that really makes it hard to contact anyone including my usua tpvp buds.
So here is the final product of some thinking, optimizing and testing. I think its awesome. When warriors get buffed, it could be epic! that would be amazing. What it (and the entire warrior class) really needs is more Cond. Removal.
Literally, if that “quick breathing” warhorn trait removed 3 conditions instead of just 1 similar to the cleansing flame utility skill of the elementalist that would be great balance for me. hmm i should suggest that somewhere…
Of course it would pin us to one weapon but it would be a great quick fix as they work on other fixes. Like reducing the shout cooldown? I think fear me had an 80 sec cooldown lol – atrocious and stupid

Build mechanics:
The build has a great amount of adrenaline generation and survival as well as pretty solid burst and sustain.
Defense traits:
it was either Adrenaline on hit or dogged march. Ive decided that adrenaline on hit is more useful than like 150 health/s and only when I get imbed, crippled, etc… lame
adrenal breathing does enough of the job.
Last stand – in the defense trait line allows me to free up a skill slot (no need for balanced stance). I use of signet of might in place of it but only because I wanted more burst Its likely to change.
Tactics:
Leg specialist – allows me to cc,kite and also prevent people from kiting me.
quick breathing – is how I even last. The cleansing is awesome. In addition to signet of stamina and the Mending heal, I really can survive well against most classes. Necro’s and hgh engies will always be hard. BM rangers actually aren’t that bad.
Discipline:
Heightened focus – because I need more crit chance.
Signet mastery – Not too sure of this one but I like that my signet of stamina and the other 2 that I use get more usage.
Burst mastery: all the eviscerate and blurred frenzy and little adrenaline usage makes this amazing. I forfeited berserker’s power in strength for this.
Mechanics:
Briefly,
I often gap close with savage leap followed by a quick hamstring or flurry. When I flurry I only immobilize then stow. I switch to axe and eviscerate but if I’m not 3 bars up with adrenaline I shield bash or auto attack. I rarely shield stance unless I need to.
I also use shield bash to close gaps and stun followed by throw axe. I cyclone axe whenever I’m in range. I usually would then switch to sword/warhorn and hamstring then flurry (but not the whole thing.) The entire flurry isnt really worth it so I js use it to build some adrenaline and immobilize. Its fun gameplay and I’m still working it out, after all I js made this yesterday and I’ve never really known how to play warrior until I actually put my mind to it last night.
I would love any criticism/suggestions/feedback. I’m just doing this for fun, warrior is not my main but I honestly think this build is a great one, I’d love to see the class grow and use it more.

Hi, so the damage without stats for 100b is damage(8x): 1624
I have a pretty simple question that has literally become more difficult to figure out than I would have ever expected..
Does each hit of the 100b hit for 1624 damage so 13k total damage?
or is that the total of the 8 hits i.e 1.6k total damage? (like blurred frenzy?)
I would test it but I can’t log into gw2 just yet and I am trying to theorycraft right now. Online sources are not consistent some say the first others say the latter. Maybe I haven’t been looking at the right places.
A quick answer would be very very appreciated.

It’s simple.
A Tournament that is (x<5) vs. 5 should simply not influence someone’s rank. It should not be counted as a loss or a win. Its so annoying how many tourney losses I’ve had this week alone due to annoying 4v5’s.
In fact, 2 minutes into a match it is not 5v5 a prompt should show up that ask whether the team wishes to continue. This is totally fair.
If it is 4v5 because someone left, their team should report it. That person should get a warning. Real life issues come up, bt that doesnt mean that one persons issues should influence 4 other people. Yes, sometimes there are emergencies but if this is the case, an hour or 30minute ban should not be an issue.
OR HOW ABOUT THIS:
Games should be able to be PAUSED up to 2 minutes. If everyone on a team agrees to pause and >50% of opposing team agrees to pause.
That would allow for real life issues because the leaver should be decent enough to type, “I’ve got a real life issue!” or “RLI!”
All this 4v5 kitten is incredibly annoying. Happens to me at least 8/20 tourneys and that’s outrageous. My rank is hurt because of it too.
original poster is right. Thieves can be countered. There stealth and dps is a little hard to manage in wvw but not hard to kill…
better yet for people, play thief in spvp and save urself the hassle of getting to 80.
everything in this game is l2p. people just need to get better and stop kitten around.

The thief is fine. In fact we could use a skill that makes us some sort of invulnerable
xp would be cool because some ppl js dont like pve. i think 20 ranks = 80 lvls.
pvp has 0 rerward apart from js being competitive and doing tourneys. and if ur nt good enuf 4 tourneys or a team its useless.
pvp needs some bigger sort of reward. personally, gems were awesome!

The ele seems to be geared for a bit more dps.
Possibly valk gear? but cleric jewels. The dodging isn’t great, and the might stacking is essentially inexistant.
Osicat would have done himself a favor by keeping the dps pressure on way more than he did in the first half of the video and much like how he did in the latter half.
FYI, Mesmer in that video runs no condition removal AT ALL (and I mean it – he only has Sigil of Generosity on staff for that)… So he would have a hard time with condition based guys, while that Ele has plenty of condi removals on top of what he has in that video.
So yeah, they both went 100% all in… The problem – Ele could do 120% of that, because he would also do just as good against condition spammers.
Other than that, I do think shatter specs could use a slight nerfbat in dueling and I say that as a Mesmer player.
This is precisely what I mention all the time. Eles were never OP.
This nerf just made us require even more planned execution of skills. For instance, don’t always use ether renewal and water attune at the same time. make sure the mes has dazed before running ether renewal or watch out for it when popping it.
Honestly, stupid kids just didn’t know what to do against us and it hurt us. I’ve personally thought the only class close to OP was a mesmer. But even then, not really.
Now, about their cond removal being inexistant. they truly don’t have much cond removal and osicat runs without e.g null field simply because he doesnt need it for an ele. If he was a thief, I’m sure he’d have traited for it or made use of it with “withdraw into shadows”
THIS IS HOW EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY. They should know what is necessary and what isn’t for an elementalist and any class they go up against.
The nerf doesn’t affect our gameplay so much. It just means we need to time things better but don’t nerf the most viable build we have on account of kitten kids that don’t know how to play and improve themselves. My advice to arenanet, leave the ele right here and buff up kittening conjures. This way, eles that KNOW HOW TO play and have spent honest time understanding their class can adjust or create better builds apart from ones that are so dependent on arcane and water traits.
This is exactly why I dislike “spectator mode” in spvp. Kids are just going to grab builds they like, forget about learning the mechanics of their class and in the long run end up screaming “OP OP!” when they havent learned to adjust to a kittening build.
Likewise, noob eles do the exact same thing. Its a shame. Arenanet needs to take a deeper look at that and stop nerfing and buffing here and there.
The RTL was the only nerf we’ve had that was anything close to being just. The rest were all pointless.
We need buffs not nerfs at this point or they will kill the class.

The only viable builds in 1 vs 1 are d/d toughness ele, overstealthing condi thief, dps phantasm/shatter mesmer, and the bm range. In a team fight these builds also dominate. Only tanky eles are viable for 5 vs5+. For team fights condi theifs stay on a point without caltrops taking them out of stealth. Shatter for mesmer is still aoe with less range and berserkers are very aoe even if the berserkers die fast they can be resummoned every 10 secs or less. A Bm ranger can easily be a trapper ranger. Basically these classes have dominant builds 90% or more of all other spvp builds. Rather than defend these builds try to defeat them with something else because the update did almost nothing to fix these.
Nothing OP about them. Any class can learn to counter these things. Enough is enough. There is a point where a class is just too good and a point when it is just not being handled effectively. I just don’t think any class is OP anymore. People are overdoing it.
That ele burst you showed, was that in zerk gear? I don’t think that would survive very well against a balanced 1v1 class.
Nothing OP about the mesmer shatters either. They are just strong as they should be. Learn to dodge when u see illusionary leap.

The ranger self resurrect is interesting but I personally haven’t seen it as much as I should have.. Just kill the spirit before downing the ranger.

In fact, it lowers it because people just don’t LEARN TO PLAY and actually get good. This is the reason why half the nerfs have been happening to classes. I never thought the ele was OP. Nerf hammer is going to be dropped very hard.
Here is what I have to say: The changes are fine. They won’t screw us over.
However, the one change I don’t understand is the inability to heal while in mist form.
That’s completely uncalled for.
I believe every class has an invulnerable skill and while in that skill they can heal. Correct me if I am wrong.
What is the point of being invulnerable if one is just going to be killed as soon as it is over?
It kind of makes no sense..
All it will be good for now is stomping…
The RTL change is also quite harsh but whatever, that won’t ruin our lives it just makes our rotations a little jerky now. Kind of silly too. They should have nerfed the range instead.
I’m curious, does any class have a weapon skill with a freaking 40s cool down? what? I have the utmost respect for that class if that’s the case. However, if we’re supposed to be flipping through elements according to their paradigm of elementalist gameplay why this nerf…
They better buff up the conjures or something. We literally can’t js be getting nerfed this patch..
My thoughts on ele will always be this, we have traded off dps for bunker capabilities. People will say they can get 10k fire grabs and I will say “that’s because you are not being a bunker kitten.”
People complain that our damage is too good for a bunker class but honestly…it really just isn’t. We can manage ~3k against a glass cannon. I don’t see how we are vastly superior to a bunker guardian in any other aspect but mobility.They can manage the exact same damage.
Nerf mobility. Fine. Fair enough. But nerf it logically?
reduce rtl range, let our auras give us 25% move speed instead of 33%?
Go ahead and nerf the passive heal on sig of restoration, that’s not the best heal for the ele anyway…
But focus less on nerfing the main build eles play and START trying to create new ones..

I’m going to be proactive and make a new build that I’ve actually almost completed. I just need to finish my gear set but that will still just be vastly inferior to any other class builds… I’ve also made a thief just in case but that was a given. Why wouldn’t i want to be able to do freaking 15k damage with like 2 skills and still get away..
*also it went from roaming thieves to d/d eles and soon it will be HGH engineers…js you wait and see

The truth of the matter is that we’re just not that OP. We have great survivability and that is all. People need to l2p.
We can heal up to 100% from ~40%hp. True. But it’s not like we can burtst anyone down. We have 2 moves, Fire grab and churning earth that can deliver 3k to 5k dmg when they hit. Do you have any idea how easy it is to just dodge them….
In fact, WE can bursted down. Literally in the middle of a duel, if a zerk thief/warr/mesmer catches any one of us unawares they can just burst us down quick. If we react quick its not like we’re going to keep fighting we’re going to run away!
That is the only respect in which we could ever possibly be OP. Our mobility.
Other than that, learn to stun us after we go through our water rotation then simply burst us down. I love facing eles with my mesmer in spvp. I can only imagine that it is even easier to face them in wvw.
0/10/0/30/30 isnt the best build anymore btw there are many other just kept secret. I don’t even run it anymore.
IMO, mesmers and thieves are OP. They can run glass cannon builds and have excellent survivability. Now that’s what I call OP.
Piece of advice, all of you need to spvp and learn to play your class properly. It really makes all the difference. Get to rank 20 and ull js be a brute force in wvw coz players are significantly less skilled.

we’re also very squishy. So if u can get us to mist form then burst us right after our water cycle ur doing it right.
perfect example of why Evasive arcana is not necessary.(Even though I prefer it. especially for the might stacking and extra heal)
Great gameplay. You do lack might stacking as Nischana mentions. Factoring that in would make you an even more terrifying force. Great vids!

Honestly, d/d eles can be countered by people that know what they are doing. quite easily. They are hard to kill, when they are bunker builds but no way in hell can they kill you easily. Our high healing capability compensates for our low burst. Note, I am referring to the bunker build. Yes we may be able to wittle down your hp in a duel and essentially stay at full health, after about 2 loops through our elements if ur an amateur u’d obviously be dead. but we don’t have burst like a thief or mesmer. In fact, I always have trouble with shatter mesmers( The good ones). I am yet to figure out how to fight them because they have such high damage and I just don’t .
All that I agree with is that we are very mobile. nothing wrong with that. Thieves stealth a butt load. Mesmers can be tough to kill. The rest is just people being immature and annoying.
Just get on our level and dont hop on this forum to give us kitten. Ele is the most complicated class to play. and No we’re not OP. Most of us are just traited and geared for healing power. But our dps sucks. My fire grab can do a measly 3k dmg to a burning glass cannon foe. This is the most I’ve ever hit. unlike u 8k and 14k thieves, mesmers, warriors and guardians.

my highest level character is lvl.20 that should tell you how much I spvp.
I barely do anything but pvp.
I have lots to learn but I love it and want to be in a guild that loves it.
