…anyone else’s hype barely hanging on by a thread?…burned out?…?

Perhaps it’s just me.

After nearly 3 years of playing, there’s literally nothing to do. Same boring kitten every single day.

This expansion can’t come fast enough. In fact, forget about the expansion, the information for the expansion can’t come fast enough.

I think you need to “educate yourself” before trying to act smart.

Server lag is not the same as packet loss, nor is either the same as fps loss.

Removing the c/d on weapon swap will not kill the servers.

Now stop derailing the thread, thanks.

Revenant (or ele) and weapon swap

Because you could easily use it for combos before a fight as you stay OOC as long as you don’t hit an enemy

You can manually change weapons before a fight to stack 25 might actually. Just rightclicking weapons from inventory. And it’s not so hard to learn this

Do you see people doing this in sPvP? No, because that’d be broken as kitten.

If they had access to weapon swap OOC, they can do it in sPvP…which will be broken as kitten.

You’re right … it should cost some initiative to swap weapons as much as you want with no cooldown. How much do you think is reasonable?

I like me some hateful nonconstructive responses too when I see something posted that I don’t agree with, but I can’t explain why I don’t agree with it logically…because I simply dislike it for no reason at all.

Thieves really should have no c/d on their weapon swap.

I mean their entire initiative system is one single resource pool. Without it, all they can do is auto-attack.

It makes very little sense for warriors to have a trait that reduces their weapon swap c/d by 5s, when they can do some amazing combos with their disjointed skills…while thieves, whose skills are all restricted by a single resource, have a c/d, let alone a longer c/d.

I will take any weapon besides the rifle. i also think it would be boring.

Either way its safe to say its going to be a 2hander, as much as a want a sword offhand do you really think arena nets going to take the time adding in d/s p/s, you should know better after so long

That’s why I wrote this.

If I thought it was going to be sword offhand, I wouldn’t even have bothered writing up examples of skills, because that would mean it was pointless, as they already have the skills made.

I would be more than happy with GS though.

A specialization that utilizes offhand sword, Swashbuckler for example, would be 100x better than a “Sniper” specialization. I mean…seriously, this “Sniper” specialization talk is the dumbest thing I’ve heard in GW2.

At least with offhand sword, if they do it properly, it can offer a very interesting play style. A stealth-less play style.

Imagine a S/S:

Dual skill: similar to Whirlwind. It will grant a slight evasion frame, a mobility (similar to HS spam), AND it will be skill shot based (meaning if you suck at aiming in the heat of the moment, you will do less/no damage).

Skill 4 can be something similar to Twisting Fang. However, with some changes..like: usable while moving and applies inflicts cripple and vulnerability. This will allow the offhand sword a bit of control over enemies movement.

Skill 5 can be a defensive skill like Counterattack. The counterattack itself would briefly stun the attacker and do minimal damage. However, if a counterattack does not trigger, then the skill would cause a blast finisher and apply a short duration protection buff. This way, for more defensive and stealth-less plays, thieves will have more defensive capability to balance the lack of stealth.

The lack of stealth from off-hand sword would pretty much negate all stealth based skills (Backstab, Tactical Strike, etc.) being used, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still use utilities and combo fields to enter stealth.

For D/S dual skill, it could be something like a blend between Dancing Dagger and Shadow Shot with 2 parts to it. For the first part, you throw your dagger (exactly like Dancing Dagger), crippling the enemy. The second part is based on activation, like Flanking Strike. The second part shadowsteps you to the enemy and does a sword sweep that knocksdown your target.

Finally, for P/S dual skill, it could be something like a quick dashing skill. You overload your pistol with gunpowder and shoot backwards, knocking down anyone directly behind you, and slashing any enemies in your dashing path.

The possibilities for unique plays is boundless and very active, compared to a…oh let me sit here spamming rifle 111111 and hiding at range cause I lack reaction based play.

So I kinda Rescind........

Thought we got a buff a few weeks ago. I think the new dancing dagger is good as it is.

“Dancing Dagger: The projectile speed of this skill has been increased by 33%.” – that barely qualifies as a “buff”.

“Dancing Dagger: This skill’s damage has been reduced by 50%.” – from November 15, 2012 update.

…And everyone wonders why this profession’s level of diversity is poor…. get a clue lol.

What are you babbling about?!?

Some people thinking of thieves as rogue archetype has nothing to do with the professions lack of skill build diversity.

That stems from the fact that thieves ONLY have 3.5 land weapons to choose from.

The fact that ANet has not done anything to adjust their only ranged DPS weapon set (P/P) doesn’t help them either. There’s no need for rifle for the thief class because they have enough mobility to not NEED a 1200 ranged weapon. Only BAD players NEED that 1200 ranged weapon.

There’s a lot better things ANet can do with the class and its initiative system itself, while altering the steal system for specializations.

PS: P/D’s “condi spam” is laughable. Spamming a single condi will only win you fights against bad players.

Kurow.3076

Well, From what i’m reading on this topic, Your saying i should just reroll becuase theif aren’t getting better?

Thieves have gotten nerfed, sometimes quite heavily, in every patch since release.
If they’re too weak for you right now, don’t hold out. It’ll only continue downhill from here.
I nearly quit at one point because I got sick of being the dev team’s punching bag.
It isn’t even a question of viability at that point; it’s knowing that everyone literally is out to get you. Even the people who made the freakin’ game.

(Warriors are in the same boat also)

Don’t reroll if you like the class. The nerfs will continue to come because people cannot handle the core mechanics of the class, but eventually Anet will realize that the players complaining about thief don’t want it balanced, they want it Gone.

If you would like to be a good thief, its possible. It will just take more work than people are content on putting in. That work translates into skill though, and that is something that is rare among the competitive community that believes that builds are the only thing they need to put work into to be viable.

Embrace the difficulty. surpass it and do well. If you ever get to the point where you find your potential capped because your class has been bubble wrapped to incompetency, you can move to something else and take that skill with you.

…or…here’s a better idea…just hear me out now:

instead of wasting a colossal amount of time to do all that to realize they are “bubble wrapped to incompetency”, they can read the comments from other thief players, and save themselves that time…to go re-roll a class that won’t get kitten on every single patch (sometimes quite unnecessarily).

Well, i heard were getting Rifle as a new weapon and specialization , Will that make theifs better?

No, it won’t.

The weapon is completely unnecessary on the class. Instead of giving rifle, they should FIX P/P.

On a side note: Has anyone ever seen a dev play a thief, excluding when they previewed the Queen’s Gauntlet…cause that thing was a disaster. It was some intense skillful P/P 3 spam gameplay.

Does revealing the release date kill hype?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Kurow.3076

Kurow.3076

In theory, yes. In practise…not always, but sometimes.

The idea is, we know there will be a decreased amount of content coming into GW2 in the time between LS2 and HoT, so if players know the release date, they can easily think “Well, im gonna take a break until HoT comes, because im not missing anything.” but if they don’t know the release date, they will stay around to see what information comes up.

I personally, am sticking around anyway, to prepare my account for HoT. Clean out the bank for all those new items, get all my characters into ascended gear, ready to receive those juicy new skins, and maybe find a guild, if I can find something stable.

They don’t have to play the game to keep in touch with any info released.

I’ll keep this simple!!

Guardian: Axe (fairly certain they get longbow anyway)
Warrior: Any kind of magical weapon (this does not include torch)
Ranger: Pistol (we already know they get staff, so, irrelevant)
Thief: Rifle (god kittening no, they don’t need this garbage – not sure why so many are kitten kitten -ing for 1200 ranged weapon)
Engineer: Again, any kind of magical weapon (irrelevant since we know they get hammer)
Elementalist: Pistol or Rifle (just…no)
Necromancer: Again, Pistol or Rifle (we already know they get GS, so, this is irrelevant)
Mesmer: Hammer or Rifle (clearly no need for it)

New conditions will be the death of thief?

Kurow.3076

Yes, slow and taunt will kill thieves.

They are far too squishy with no access to Aegis or Protection, and their stability gain is gated behind a trait (which isn’t even that good).

This game offers an overabundance of condis and ccs, with not enough condi clears and stun breakers.

I will try to be brief.Thieves even though they dont have a large presence in wvw zergs (apart from guilds with harass squads) they seem to have literally everything in their kit in order to outclass any other class in small roaming groups and especially in solo play.Great survivability(stealth, constant condition removal), undoubtedly great burst damage and huge mobility. How is this class supposed to be balanced when they have everything at their disposal and all at once?No troll repsonses.I am just stating the obvious.

You really shouldn’t request for “no troll repsonses”…when you make a troll thread.

x.X in reality i will probably end up rolling a revenant… their resource system isnt far off of thief’s from what it seems
Plus they’re medium health and heavy armor… which means beefy, stealthless too
Oh and they throw hammers… “our” melee weapons are their ranged weapons… (watch it be 1200 range too on hammers…. lol (probably 900 or under))

Well, tbh…currently, my Guardian is my second main in case they kitten on Thief extremely hard. It’s fully equipped with legendaries and ascended…and come the HoT release, I feel like Revenant will also replace my Thief as primary main and push the Thief into the third main.

I’m just hoping that the new weapon Thief gets access to isn’t the rifle or longbow. Honestly, a stealthless sword offhand or greatsword, and even a melee staff (as some have suggested) would be much better suited for the initiative system and general Thief gameplay.

I had some great ideas for the sword offhand, but it’s not worth noting down at the moment, since HoT seems complete already with bugs being worked on currently.

People complaining about BS damage…do they even realize that there are skills that hit even harder, and are easier to land, which does not depend on positioning?

Easy example? Eviscerate!

It has a damage of 1008 with a 3.0 power scaling while BS is only 806 with a 2.4 power scaling. It is a leap, so it homes in on you, and the damage is independent of positioning.
