History of Forbidden

Forbidden was founded in March of 2011 by a couple very much in love; of whom had met on an online game and traveled great distance to be together. Myself and my now husband Kayla formed Forbidden in hopes of making a guild that the game we played had never seen. A Guild based on friendship, respect, family, and an overall common goal of enjoyment of the game we played.

Forbidden started out in Red Stone; a low population 2.5d MMORPG, that the founders played for many years. Forbidden’s time in Red Stone has passed. We now have many different interests to keep us busy. Exploring the ever changing land of Tyria in Guild Wars 2, building our own vast world in our own private Minecraft server, battling the pits of hell in Diablo 3, and exploring the depths of our own imaginations in books and dice D&D. The possibilities are vast and we will always find something fun to do together.

Forbidden is looking for active, respectful, mature and SOCIAL gamers. We don’t just want another number on our roster but someone who we can be proud to call our friend. Friendships are forged on spending time together and interacting with each other. So with that in mind, we are looking for friends who accept that Forbidden is a multi-gaming guild and are open minded enough to be willing to try new games with us along the way. Forbidden, although structured, has a very open door policy for suggestions. We are looking for members that get involved in the group, give suggestions, and show that they care by using their voices.

What do we expect?

~Forbidden is an English speaking guild. All communication will be in English. Please be sure you are able to fluently speak/type/understand English before applying.

~Respect is a huge part of what it means to be one of The Forbidden. Show it, know it, live it. Whether with our guild mates or other members of the communities of the games we play, follow the golden rule. Treat others how you want to be treated. Trolls are not welcome.

~Maturity is something we seek while looking for new Forbidden members; however we believe that maturity is not limited by age. With this in mind, we do not have a strict age limit in place while recruiting. Strong language may be a common occurrence. You have been warned.

I would love some more information! For example:

What size/type of guild are you looking for? There are lots of guilds that range from a close tight nit handful of people, to large 400+ members. Some guilds focus on themes or spesific types of gameplay while others do a bit of everything. Also some guilds are very casual and dont require any activity of thier members and others are more “hardcore” as we put it and take thier gaming a tad more seriously and expect their members to as well.

What is your timezone and most regular hours of play? Especially if you are looking for a smaller group of close friends to fit into, it is very important to be sure that the playtimes match up somewhat. You dont want to be on the other side of the world from the majority of your guild and never see them because they are all sleeping when you are online :P

And how do you feel about using a guild website and voice chat? Other forms of communication are very common in organized guilds. Some guilds require regular forum or voice chat activity. Do you own a working microphone? How do you feel about using it?

And another important question is what server you are on and how you would feel about transferring for the right guild? Most of the people that are looking for a good guild that fits thier playstyle find that guild offworld. I know that the prices of transferring are not cheap but there is alot of content that is restricted if you are not on the same server as your guild. Some guilds dont care about it but others like to know up front if you would be willing to transfer over to thier world if it ends up being a good fit.

No technically you do not need to be on the same server as the guild you join. Guilds in GW2 are able to cross server recruit. However, being on the same server is more often than not the way to go. Although you would be able to talk to them in guild chat and whatnot, you would not be able to reap any of the benefits of being in a guild (guild buffs or upgrades) nor would the guild get any benefit from your membership (influence). Most guilds ask that if you are not already on thier server you be willing to transfer for long term membership.

Profession really, in most cases, is all about your preference. It is good to have a variety of classes when doing things like dungeons to help balance out and allow each of the members of the party to help in thier own unique way, but thats not to say that a dungeon cannot be run with all of one class. I have run many a successful dungeons with a whole party of Guardians :P Pretty much a melting pot unless you choose to join a guild that is very specific about being an asuran only guild or something.

The only thing that living in Washington DC would effect is the times of day you play and you might want to consider looking for a guild that does group activities or has frequent activity around your most regular game times.

Im glad to hear that you are enjoying the game so much. It sure is alot of fun. Exploring and experiencing all the beautiful scenery, dynamic events and entertaining NPC conversation when your starting out is great lol. But as much as this game has to offer, it can get pretty lonely. I definitely suggest finding a group that really fits you and you enjoy spending your time with. It will surely enhance your gameplay

Hey i sent you a mail in game. I hope we get to chat. I think you would be a good fit for Forbidden

I just wanted to add that the majority of the time, when im browsing the LFG posts for possible recruits i pass right over the ones that dont put any real information in thier posts. Those people, could be a great fit for my guild, and we could become fast friends if they were just to put a little effort into posting in more detail what they were looking for.

Please please please people. We want to be able to get to know you. Give us some more info to go off of! :P

The majority of guilds that are based around community ask for 100% representation because when you are not repping them its like your not even in thier guild. They may as well remove you from the roster. My suggestion would be to keep your friends on your friends list and play with them still, but give your new guild your loyalty. Or, try to get your friends to merge with/join another guild to help with the activity ^^

First off, Welcome to GW2! :P Glad to have you and we do hope that you enjoy your stay as much as the rest of us do. And welcome to the world of PC gaming. It can be alot of fun and you can make some very awsome friends.

Guilds in GW2 are a bit different than in other games. First off you cannot request membership in game without first speaking to someone who can invite you. Second, you can belong to more than one guild at a time (though most ask for 100% rep). To switch between the guilds you are a part of you “represent” the one you are currently active with.

I suggest coming up with a general idea of what type of gameplay you prefer (or if your not sure yet at least list the things you would like to try) and a general time of day that you most often play. Specify what server you are currently on, and if you are willing to transfer off that server for the right guild. And also specify if you are willing/able to partake in voice chat (as thats a very common form of communication in the gaming world today), and what size/type of guild you would like to be a part of (small/med/large) (casual/hardcore).

All this information is important when people are looking for possible recruits. Finding the perfect guild for you can take some time (and even some “dates”) but once you do find the right place for you, it can really make all the difference in the world to your gaming experience. The game brings you in and is fun to play, but its the PEOPLE that keep you coming back day after day for more :P
