I really was not going to post this because 99.9999% of the people reading this won’t give a kitten. But I do want to thank anet for ultimately killing the Guild Wars franchise for myself and 100’s of others who enjoy WvW. There is only so much someone can take in terms of no updates and no hope. I have patiently waited for a glimmer of hope in terms of a WvW update but im done waiting. With Archeage and camelot around the bend you will be losing the RvR players. Though I guess thats what you want since you never meant for WvW too be so popular and you can finally have some peace and quite when it comes to people complaining.
It is absolutely baffling that there has been nothing done for official GvG’s yet. The game is technically called Guild Wars 2 even the first game had decent GvG abilities. There is also no excuse to have multiple devs saying different things. Devon told us over a year ago that it takes around 6 months to design and test a new WvW map, only to have a dev recently say it takes a lot longer. Does it really only take 6 months or does it take 6 months and a we don’t really care anymore so it takes longer now kind of mentality.
Honestly some of the biggest guilds that promoted the game, promoted WvW, got those new players into WvW and GvG’s and got them hooked are down right leaving the game. I have quit uninstalled the game and will not play a game where the game mode I enjoy to play is neglected so much. I loved the time I played I loved my 100s of hours as a commander and my 1000s in WvW alone but what I don’t love is the disrespect as a player.
WvW is dying and there is nothing anyone can say to tell me it is not. Yea people still go in it but you can tell, the commanders that have been around for so long have no enthusiasm no heart for it they are just playing because there is nothing else to play.
So thank you anet for making one of the best game modes that I have played in years of gaming, but also thank you for destroying that game mode.
I will put my two cents here but I know that the WvW devs truly won’t read anything in this thread and if they do they really just don’t care.
Incoming wall of text stay with me.
First off Anet as a company has gone downhill in terms of customer relations. They are a company and as a company they are out to make money. The whole gem store idea was great on pen and paper and I even supported it but in the long run it is that very idea that is ruining this game. Making content that they can sell like armor, boosts, musical weapons, etc is fine and dandy. But when you are constantly putting the best looking armor in there then it gets to the point where you have nothing more to do in game but buy said armor. The micro transaction as a whole is effecting the way they view content. We can get 200 gems for this 2 hours living story? HELL YEAH! They want to continue to do small updates that they can sell instead of making the expansion size updates and selling a full expansion. Why? Because they make 1000x more money doing it this way. Stay with me. Because of this business model things like WvW where other then finishers they can’t really make money off so in turn very little content.
On to the main top
WvW is in fact dying. As an ex commander with over 500 hours of commanding and triple that in general WvW the state of it is abysmal. Top guilds are leaving for other games because of burnout or just because they have completely lost faith in the game. One of the main problems is Anet made WvW as a side game mode but they never thought it would gain this much traction. Why they didn’t think it would when they have no real endgame who knows. The devs at Anet make the strangest choices and sometimes I just feel pity for their decisions. When you have the top 3 populated servers only que all maps on reset and maybe 1-2 on off nights you know it is dying.
I guess what Anet really needs to understand is how most guilds are structured and how if they do not fix WvW by adding updates, new rewards, or even fixing the achievements guilds will fall apart when a mass exodus happens. Most guilds are PvX with a lot of people doing all forms of content. Atleast in all my previous guilds people do PvE for a hour or two a day then go WvW at night when it hits peak. When WvW dies those people are not going to sit in PvE for the time they were normally in WvW. They are going to move on to a new game, which in turn guilds lose members and eventually that guild is either too small to continue or leaders end up quitting the game. I know for a fact when archeage launches myself and a lot of my friends will be switching over to that.
What can we do as a community to fix this
To be 100% honest there is absolutely nothing that we can do. Threads like these mean nothing because the devs are so closed off. That is one of the main issues with this game they are so secretive about updates while other MMO’s give you hints about whats to come. Anet just says here you go hope you like it. We as a community have given our feedback to no avail, we have waited and hoped for new content without any real subsistence.
Easiest way to help revive it
Never do seasons again. Instead implement reward systems that will bring in some PvE players every now and again so that we atleast have bodies to defend as well as fight.
What sort of updates would revive WvW
Im not going into this much because its been said numerous times but, New maps, Armor/weapons, Unique rank finishers, etc.
I guess all in all WvW will always have a somewhat decent population because more and more people play the game every day but eventually it will flatten out to about 6 servers of equal population leaving most a ghost town. It’s sad to see how much neglect is given to the game mode when it had the most potential out of any game to have come in years. I guess they want to focus on their Esports that is Spvp(which WILL NOT happen because of the lack of a trybrid game and lack of gamemodes)
TL:DR
Anet values the money side of the game more then the side of the game that people enjoy the most.

Picture is the front page with threads showing either much needed suggestions/concerns with the state of WvW. 70% of the threads on the wrong page are about a topic like this.
That is a problem. When there is nothing good to say about your game mode that is a huge problem.
It literally shows you right there the majority of players are NOT happy with the state of the gamemode they play.

The reason they don’t have it so allies can’t see your rank is because they don’t want people being kittens to new players.
There are those who have though, and are already kittening that there should have been more….

Amen. To those of us with more limited playing time it sounds like a bunch of entitled whining from people with too much of a good thing.

Except you can get all the AP and map completion as well as do the story and those achievements in about 4-5 hours. For content that was supposed to be good for 2 weeks that is a sad amount. I don’t care if you barely have time to play that is your problem not mine. I am not being an entitled whiny kitten when I am complaining it is a legit complaint because it was a pathetic amount of content for the launch of their Season 2. There is absolutely no way to defend them at this point.

Don’t get me wrong the zone is awesome and I love it but the little amount of stuff you can truly do there that you can’t do elsewhere for either more money or more enjoyment is quite sad. Over +1000. As mentioned we’ve asked for commander tag improvements for a while now especially after the CDI which clearly hasn’t been taken seriously despite the feedback they ‘collected’. This is the thing though, never-mind GvGers calling for support, what about the guys who contributed to these CDIs for no good reason?

Join the squad of the person you are following. While it is annoying that you can’t see the other tags and their positioning you can’t blame the game for following the wrong tag when it has the tools to make sure you aren’t.
Deleting all your characters DOES NOT give you a free transfer anymore. So I don’t recommend doing that unless you just want to start over.
If all we get are the two traits that were already data mined then a lot of guilds will be leaving. Wvw as a whole is already on the verge of destroying quite a few guilds.
Shame that people keep burning out. People need to take breaks, and come back, and not play GW2 like a job (which is rather hard when you are competitive).

I think nearly 2 years playing the same game isn’t as much of burnout as it is players finding other games that excite them more. No reason to be married to one game (although I still am for some reason).
Well if Anet did some form of updates for WvW that actually gave new content that we wanted we would see a lot less burnout. Fixing the little things like bugs goes a long way. Adding a new map would keep those guilds thinking of quitting from quitting.
Tbh that is generally frowned upon in the WvW community. But if you see a dead mesmer near a gate just sit on them until the release.
Yes the whole purpose of the tickets is they want to do them next season so for those who couldn’t afford a mistforged weapon this go around can get it next time the season ends.
The answer about resources is really really really really simple. Sell game expansion packs like what was done in GW1. Include a new GvG mode maybe via guild halls, some new playable race and/or class, etc. People would buy it just like they bought Factions.
I would prefer them selling expansion packs to them doing the current model. At least then I would know what I was getting when im buying it instead of finding if im gonna like the content week by week. Also the fact that they haven’t implemented proper GvG’s yet is quite absurd seeing as the game is called guild wars. Im hoping they do make a huge expansion like patch bigger then LS2 so we can get some features that are desperately needed.

First chat option from the battle historian grants you new tickets.
You should be able to transfer back to a NA server and speak to the Battle Historian there to retrieve your rewards.

What really irritates me is the fact that this was a KNOWN bug from season 1 rewards yet you did not fix it and let alone did not make a WARNING statement about it.

What’s really funny is that they said it’s currently really hard to change these achievements, which makes me think the coding is just such a tangled mess that we wont be seeing a change for a long, long time.
I don’t see how moving a comma or decimal over is really that difficult. If the coding is truly so hard they can’t fix achievements then they probably shouldn’t code a game either.
People run pinless in guild groups as well as there could be havoc groups.
Cool idea but it wont happen and it could be easily exploited.
The festival is a living story event its not main content it is made for you to go do it not for you to get the rewards from doing something else. That being said not giving the tokens was strange but the WvW drop rate of them is abysmal anyways.
So, let me understand…. we just had 9 weeks of a season where you had different matchups every week and somehow you are sick of facing the same servers every week?
Idk what league you were in but a lot of us played the same 3 foes every week.
Ask in heart of the mists for a team group play. Setting up a good group comp is not that hard. I went 6 and 1 with randoms then proceeded to do 4 more games queuing in team que alone and went 3 and 1. Team que is much better.
I think you ranked turret engie/decap engi too low. Even at high play it is fairly good. The only real problem that arises is if you get paired against a really good thief that can just stealth off your turrets. Which can be avoided by just blowing them up and kiting with the rifle. It’s really an overpowered build imo.
Or a warrior can just walk through that crap swinging and all the turrets are gone in the fray of aoe. Two words, meteor shower. Honestly decap/turret is solo/ hotjoin heroes nothing.
I’m sorry but I have never once lost to a warrior in a 1v1. Literally blind with flame turret. Knock down thumper turret rifle 4 then rifle 3 and 2 and repeat you just got thrown around. Eles are non issue because if you run glass that uses meteor on my turret I rifle 5 and critical you for 5k while laughing. I have only lost a 1v1 against a thief names Drow queen who was a Dragon. Supply crate is just too strong and with all my turrets plus SC 2v1s are quite easy 3v1s are doable as well depending on the classes. My build is the biggest cheese build in the game.
I can decap far off the start of the game 95% of the time and hold it until I decide to leave or they push me with 3 people. I use my build in team que all the time and have won about 22 out of the 25 games I’ve played on the engie.

I think the buff should be 365days. Seriously. There is NO excuse for abandoning the team mid-fight! I feel this way because I’m sick of being on teams in the minority because idiots leave.
You know people have circumstances that they absolutely have to leave. I am shocked to find out it is 72 hours because that is down right harsh. Even a couple hours is a long time but a full 3 days is ridiculous.

I disagree with this post. I have been trying very hard to get 6000 AP to get the radiant shoulders because I really like them. Unfortunately I really only do WvW with very little PvE. Having such unobtainable WvW achievements and the lack of anymore really sucks when trying to earn AP mainly because I have to go do content that I do not want to do to get AP. Even if the sum of the weekly achievements in WvW were 50 AP I would be happy with that since I know eventually I could earn my AP rewards just playing the gamemode I like.
I had to go do queens gauntlet to get AP because it was like 300 AP for all of the achievements. I absolutely despised doing it because its not the content I enjoy. PvE’ers get AP for every living story while the only LS WvW’ers got was the one for Edge of the mists which was abysmal.
So to address your comment im going to have to disagree with your assumption that WvWers don’t want Achievement points.
Op is kidding themselves right? The meta this season was absolutely faceroll easy compared to last season. PvE players thinking they have a sense of entitlement.
What? When I was on CD we faced SF numerous times before tournaments even started. This kid must be new to the game the matchup is not unfair.
I would rather have that karma train mentality in Edge of the mists then in EBG.
Ill be honest I am very sick of seeing new players in Tournament solo que. Is it really that hard of a concept to not be a jerk and learn how to play Spvp before jumping into solo que and completely sucking? Besides soloque for tournaments I welcome new players.
This is pretty BS reward. I have a legendary and a hammer that matches I don’t need weapons for arah weapons that tbh look like trash. It should be the other way around or more tokens instead of weapons.

Seriously stay with Blackgate its a solid server and just because the third week they are getting pounded doesn’t mean it will last. There is no way TC and JQ will keep this alliance going this long.
If it is a matter of balance between the three borderlands then why has EBG’s red side consistently been the easiest to defend? Fully fortified red keep and Veloka are near impossible to take unless you golem rush with 20+.
On to the point if its still about balance why not have the maps still be the same map on all 3 bl’s at one time but each week a different style. One week forest, one week mountains and volcanos, one week snowy drifts with ice and water, one week barren wasteland with sand traps etc. Keep all 3 BL’s having the same map so balance is not the issue but change the actual map every other week. Maybe a random selection or a vote by the community.
We have two guild members that transferred with the rest of the guild get locked out. We all transferred the day free transfers opened or a few days after but played a whole week in WvW before the tournament started. Why are these guildies that transferred the same time now locked out?
A lot of knowing what to do in WvW is to just experience it. Hell every time I get wiped while commanding I take a second to look at what I did wrong and learn from that mistake. There is no way that you will be able to just watch or read and know what to do in every situation. That being said the wiki can provide you with some base knowledge but any specific questions feel free to add me and ill try and help you out.
You don’t even need these foods in www. Conditions doesn’t tic more than couple sec anyways.

Leave it how it is if you don’t like giant zergs run 2 20 man zerg busting groups and hit the zerg at the same time its that simple.
Although it’s impressive that your guild can field so many players, many people on this forum have been complaining about just that fact. I get the feeling that people generally DON’T want guilds to be running 50-60 people, and the fact that guilds can get away with massive blobs like that is part of the problem. That’s not to say larger guilds should kick members or anything; they could easily adapt and split the guild into two groups running in different BL’s. The point is that it would naturally force zerg size to consolidate into 15-20, instead of 50-60.
If your positions are sieged correctly. Which they should be during the off hours then 10-15 defenders can take down almost any zerg if done correctly.
Perhaps, but 10-15 people definitely wouldn’t be able to hold 3 keeps against 60-70 people in their BL, presuming the 60-70 people have half a brain and are able to split up into two 30-40 man groups.
The only exception to this is if they bring 15 omegas. Which if you let them build 15 omegas on your borderland then thats entirely your problem.
You underestimate how easy it is to build golems. I’ve built 15 omegas barely leaving spawn. You can run to the edge of the cliff on the side-exit of your spawn and drop blueprints there. Having 5-7 people running supply to the blueprint from other maps, you could easily build 10-15 omegas in 30-40 minutes.
Moreover, if you had a 60 man blob keeping the 10-15 defenders on their toes, it’d be very easy for a 5-10 man havoc group to go around flipping camps and building golems.
I know how easy it is to make golems on a BL but im coming from a constantly qued server and so its much harder to run supplies from other BL’s. As for splitting up my guild and running 2 pins yea we could do that. But with 45 people on a BL we would still que nearly 2 maps meaning my guild would ultimately have to find a dead or nearly dead server. This would also make my guild in question one of the few on the server. Very few guilds would be able to run on the server and even less would be able to run with us. We love to work with the community and have others run with us but with this suggestion your alienating larger guilds just because of their size.
Like I said before it is not hard to run 2 zerg busting pins and just break up that blob from 2 sides. We have done it and we have had it done to us.
And don’t get me wrong we blob with 50 people at a time but thats because we don’t see any other way to fix the current situation other then running 2 pins which can be fun at times but when your so used to blobbing 2 pins can become counter productive. Blobbing and splitting off and the opportune times is really just the best way to go. But trying to stop blobbing by restricting players allowed in the map is a very bad idea.

It would indirectly. The reason coverage is such a big deal now is that during offhours, some servers grossly outnumber others. Servers with strong offhour coverage can send a 60-70 man blob into a BL and roll everything, while 10-15 defenders are scrambling about. However, if the map cap were lower, it’d be much easier for the 10-15 to defend.

Does HoD have a kitten for FA? I see plenty to take in YB BL yet they seem to be going after FA more so than YB….kitten YB are you trying to get second place again so have to have another server carry you along like last season?
Will never have respect for a server who drops ACs in open field fights and has to have another server help them win like what happened last season.
Because focusing the server in second place and not in third automatically means were helping said third place. YB is behind in points to the point where they wont catch up FA can still do a big 2 day push and catch up. You should probably learn this games tactics before making assumptions. And FA drops open field AC’s just as much as YB and HoD so yea that point is invalid. HoD is singling you guys out because you are the top dog in the competition. There is no shady behind the counter deal going on with YB.
HOD is never a bad server in WvW.
I am in HOD since GW2 release, never transfer to other server.We have good commanders in WvW, those wvw guilds in HOD are great.
the only problem is that there are still lots of hod players not following and listening to cmdGlad to see HOD is doing well right now.
I have been keep following our most Ravenous commader and also KOME these days.
I know KOME transfer to hod for this season only, but as I am in oceanic time zone, I don’t got much choices in non primetime hours….
Although I would call myself as mainly a PVEer, but I will still helping WvW in the remaining season2just because I LOVE HOD!!!!!
Yea we didn’t transfer only for the Season we decided to transfer before all the other guilds did. Were on HoD to stay we love the community and all the cooperation with the WvW guilds.

Lets not have all the PvE players rushing in to WvW to AFK for 3 hours. You get 3 reward chests for winning a matchup it should be more but there really is no way to make the rewards better and only reward those who are contributing the large portion. Giving everyone that is on a winning server an exotic or 1g will effect the economy.
5:00 AM server, HoD ticking 415, YB 245, FA 35. I believe that is game, set, and match? Coverage is king.
This looks a lot more like double team than just straight up coverage. Not sure if it’s intentional or what, but kudos to HoD and YB for maintaining it.
Not a double team at all in fact on reset YB and FA were doubling teaming our BL almost the whole night. It is common sense to shut down the person in second place and ignore the one in third so you get more points against that person in second place.
I don’t think any number of guilds leaving FA mattered, and this is definitely not an organized double team. HoD has T1 numbers of people playing, and FA has never had that. We almost never queue any map, we just have a good bit of dedicated people that jump from map to map.
This will simply come down to if HoDs population sticks around or not. Nine weeks is an awfully long time.
Ques dropped significantly this week I don’t know what FA’s ques are but we do not have T1 ques except on reset night maybe even then it wasn’t huge.

FA-HoD- Yak matchup going as expected. At even numbers, FA and Yak’s spanking HoD; then twilight time hits and HoD’s coverage making up some serious lost ground. FA still respectable in the day, but Yak’s casuals/PvErs all throw up the white flag and now Yak’s getting rolled.
FA was only ahead by 1500-2000 at one point which was during our biggest downtime on HoD late EU early NA. FA and YB are both putting up good fights. And its currently about 4 am est Yaks had a 30 man group FA maybe 35-40 and us not many more so its really not that un even at this point.
Good fights though tonight looking forward to the rest of the week.
Yes I agree there needs to be some form of restrictions when it comes to commanding in WvW. And god I must admit that was super funny. I had to log off and jump on my thief and level I couldn’t stand following him.
I think 1000 badges is honestly too cheap 10,000 should be the cost as well 5,000 kills 1,000 tower caps and so on. Atleast by the time you have this you have some form of knowledge when it comes to doing WvW. I am all for new commanders as well and even encourage it and try to help them but seeing someone who has NEVER entered WvW even once come in and command a 40+ man zerg and just make the most basic mistakes really hurts my insides.
