Yes with clerics you have low vitality. I was confused about it too for a long time. Between clerics/magi. But see
Magi/Cleric: healing power: priority
Cleric gives toughness and power: Toughness is good and little more power helps
Magi gives vitality and precision: vitality is good cuz there are lots of things like food and trait that convert vitality to healing power. But it’s not worth it. Why?
Cuz in that conversion you get about 110 heal power more or less. For that you will loose Power and toughness. And you get a pointless stat ‘precision’.
Cleric gives enough heals to put a big smile on your face and other.
Yes you will play at 13.5K hp or so. And you will get wrecked for 4-5 times at start, but when you get friendly with the build is when to use aegis and heals and dodge and regen, conditions and hp won’t matter, You team will stay at full hp 95% of the time because of you.
Also I read outgoing healing is directly scaled from healing power. Check healing power wiki page. I have no way to confirm it.
Don’t worry about conditions much. Except poison. You have so much constant heals that conditions won’t kill you. Unless someone decides to stand in lava or gets 15stacks of bleed.
I will probably shift to rev. Dragon hunter is not appealing. It’s even worse when compared to other class elite specs.
I can’t be constructive about this because, I don’t see a way to make Dragon Hunter work without total rework, which is very hard and time consuming for ANet.
Either they want people to move away from Guardian and want people to play other classes or it was an accident creating this elite spec.
It’s much easier to change class. Shift ascended armor to warrior or rev. And enjoy the game.

Been using this build for some time now.
I reduces a lot of stress for my other 4 party members on surviving, they can focus more on dps and and I can take care of most utility.
It’s fun to play if you like healers in general.
I personally use full clerics. And in WvW I use nomads.
Plus I use sigil of renewal for heals on weapon swap.
People who say healing is useless is gw2, this is closest you can get and it works ( if you have someone to heal and take care of dps lol).
Delicious rice ball is a good cheap food alternative.

Run nomad gear so you can’t die. Equip all signets so don’t need to press any utility

I used to do 20-30-50 frac almost daily on my necro and got like 4 ascended chest within a month. There is a good chance of dropping them in there. I think it’s 12%.
I made a new guardian which is about a month old. On that toon I haven’t gotten a single skin or chest in a month. I dont know if this happened cuz of the news of fractal changes in HOT or somehow new toons are not suppose to get good loot.

What Colin is describing is what I thought the game was going to be in 2012 when I was hyped.
At launch, I think the devs underestimated how much some players like going full defense or support, thought that Guardian and water Eles would float their boat, and said in all interviews “We know that you hate LF1M healer/tank so we threw those roles out of the window. Enjoy!” Then they realized some people just love playing those roles so this time around they’re going to be more careful about putting PvE content and elite specializations that challenge these kinds of players too.
Though that still doesn’t fix the problem of Toughness, Vitality and Healing Power not being very effective in PvE because active defenses are better than defense stats. I don’t like the idea of having stats that serve as a crutch for lack of skills. If I choose to gear in Nomad gear (I don’t) my tankiness should bring something desirable to the group since I sacrificed all my DPS for it. I don’t PvP but I know that those stats are useful in PvP; I don’t see why those wouldn’t be useful in PvE.
I have not tried my nomad build after patch in dungeons runs, before patch I used it to run it with new people since they need a lot of support as its their 1st time. It makes them feel safe and easier to complete the run. Yes it takes like 5-10min longer than usual run but people get to learn new stuff, so that works.
Why not make the shield throwable on the ground within 900 range like an aoe to create a bubble and make it pulse boons from skills 4 if used that way.
If not thrown skill 4 will be used in the cone fashion.
This will have such good mobile support. With really good functionality.
Just a new perspective to improve our shield.
Before this patch my full nomad guard was good at healing my allies and tanking and keeping conditions off, I dealt almost no significant damage but that was fine with me. After patch I can’t even keep myself alive with the same gear and similar build, and heals are awful, and I still deal no damage.
The way I liked to play the game has gone to full trash. Don’t know what class should I shift to. Makes me really sad

M trying to make healing build viable on different class and have failed on most Post patch.
And yes vitality, healing, toughness seems useless right now in game.
I play full nomad gear on my guard with about 3.5K armour, which i extent it up with food and etc.
After patch I am getting hit stupid skills like putrid mark for 7k on data sheet, and almost every meteor shower hits me for 5K.
Before patch even the highest burst on me would hit me for 2.5k
I dont know what’s wrong lol.

I think trait lines are pretty obvious to choose, and some of the traits.
Although @Klalejanus has minions included in his version, which I currently don’t understand how are they going to survive much in a WvW scenario.
Rym’s use of CPC to mitigate damage seems like a good idea. Excited to try that out.
For weapons choices are: 1. Dagger / war horn
2. Dagger / focus
Warhorn gives cc and more hits on enemy with are helpful with vampiric aura
Focus gives regen, vulnerability and much needed boon strip.
Vote on that guys.
For second set: staff / sceptre / axe
Which is more inclined towards support?
I like the staff, but I think dagger / focus And Axe / warhorn
Axe because it has retaliation and our high sustain is very good.
I wish we could keep retaliation up all the time.
About sigil and runes.
Sigil I would go for benevolence and renewal and more or any other supportive non selfish thing. No confusion there
About the runes however. Most of you said Mercy. And it seems viable. Any other alternative which syncs well with out build? Or that’s our only choice?
About the armour choice. I see Nomad as the only pure support stat set. Since am not personally expecting to kill anyone.
I would like your feedbacks. Or you guys think one offensive stat is better for the build.

I’m running a wellomancer build now for PvE and WvW with Vampiric as one of my traits. I’m more tanky with lots of support and good damage but with a few adjustments I could be full support. Blood gives nearby friends life siphoning with is bot a damage and healing boost. Wells traited give more healing and protection and I usually take BiP which give 8 stacks of might to 5 nearby allies. You can also take condition removal and rez traits to further support. Depending on the role you want to fill.
What is this build for PvP PvE WvW?

A pure support build probably wouldn’t be entirely viable due to a lack of support. We can’t give any boons or anything to allies. Right now our team play is more centered around boon corruption, blood magic just helps keep our allies alive a bit longer. The closest thing you could do would probably be with vampiric, transfusion, and similar traits. You could probably spec for ressing allies with transfusion, Ritual of Life, and mercy runes.

While engaging enemy in (WvW) practically almost everyone has some form of stability which makes this skill pretty useless when you need it the most.
From my point i think #5 should punish enemy if they enter the dome in some way even if they enter it with their stability. Not a huge thing maybe some burn ticks or a couple of boon strip maybe. Enemy should see and understand that they are not suppose to push when dome is up and not just rush in blind.

AoE Knockback like shield 5 is useless in 99% of all situations. If this skill remains like it is, the shield will never be viable outside of point capturing spvp.
That´s the biggest problem. Knockdown would be much more interessting.
shield #5 pushes foe back when they dont have stability on them currently, BUT with stability they just casually walk into our dome.
As shield being a defensive weapon there should be some effect like (burn, blind, boon strip, cripple) for the time they spend inside the shield. It will make this weapon a defensively useful.
Note that shield is not an active offesive equipment to hold.

lol seriously, sanctuary makes me laugh, the way it works are very nice though (blocking projectiles, heal and do not let foes enter it) but its so tiny in size that anyone can hit you inside standing outside of sanctuary with melee.
Even if you see the icon, it seems like its big and will protect your allies but when you pop it, its really shameful, my washroom is bigger than this so called ‘Sanctuary’

Uh …. they -were- town clothes. For years. Then on April 15 everyone that had town clothes got tonics to replace them.
No, the tonics aren’t useful even for RPers. RP takes longer than the 15 minutes a tonic lasts. RPers like to dye their outfits, use select pieces with other pieces, all sorts of things to customize.

Oh..i have been playing it since launch and i know about how they were and how useless they are now and the situation of them at present. I just started started to notice them now (maybe because there were already a lot of armors to explore or maybe because the change that we can use town cloths in combat). None the less I like those clothes but hate the fact that they are in tonic form, last only 15 min. and cannot be dyed.
Will you be kind enough to point me to that gargantuan thread you talking about?
These clothes are really refreshing from the one we see atm in game. Sadly they are not usable in combat.
Plz release them in game as gem store item, town clothing, reward, anything witch can be used in combat.
Its a good change to usual heavy/light/medium armor category of choices we have but as being a tonic it not very useful (except of RPers maybe).

If the boss fights were fun instead of annoying (HI INVULNERABLE CENTAURS) the difficulty wouldn’t even be an issue.
hahaha ik! those stampeding centaurs chain knocking away like 1000 range . I was at that boss both times we got gold and centaur is fairly easy to kill as compared to others. We had to slow our dps there for like a good 1 or more minute.
In particular i hate Pyro but its manageable with mesmers and then that Flame Legion guy is annoying with those teleports.

JQ just completed Gold Boss Blitz event a couple of times. 1st try was silver and then 2 consecutive gold! Its so much fun, just requires a little bit of coordination, like 7-9 people (even less) on each boss. Oh that excitement when the clock comes to 1:00 min XD
Such a break from mindless zerging and button smashing, the loot was okeyish (my rng sucks) but is was so much fun!!
I approve of this event! Do this event with organisation, it much more fun!and so the reward was….what exactly?

in champ bags as usual.
but then for 10 min for organisation and completing the event which gives 6 champ bags + new event tokens (if you care to collect) + achievement points + some chance to get very rare stuff is better than mindless champ farming imo.

make new friends
save gold and use it to buy something absurd and fun.
these are just l some things on top of my head, I know it feels the end of the world after making a legendary, just finds something new to start with and you will enjoy the game again ????
Playing a new class changes the game completely. Fractals are challenging. WvW is exciting. What’s better than a legendary? 2 legendaries! Improve skills in PvP. Chase lore throughout tyria. Find Easter eggs. Do some challenging achievements. Wait for new festival and new skins and rewards.

I assume you mean how do you make the healing and damage numbers larger, in which case the healing half scales off healing power, and the damage off power, and can also crit with precision/ferocity.
are you talking about dagger #2 specifically? just to be sure
I am new to necro thats why asking a basic question > What stat does life siphon ( Dagger #2 skill) heal and damage affects this skill?

If you guys can work on simulating a WvW generalized zerg (defensive, offensive), just like we have different AI professions to fight at heart of the mist (compiling then into a group of 30-40), that will help improve skills of people who command and who follow a commander very much.
There is no place right now to improve co-ordination of a big group. Maybe till WvW season 3 starts it can be executed.
But really, if people can practice how to move and behave in a big group their quality of game and WvW fights will improve to the next level.
A celebrated commander or guild leader can call people to join him and teach others how to tackle situation in WvW fights. It can be a good social part of WvW too.
Experienced commanders teaching New commanders, commanders teach new WvWers. A good Player helping Player place.
Give it a thought, its not a necessity but it can turn out nice if done right
