San Twocut: Human Thief lvl 80
Djorn Wolfson: Norn Guardian lvl 80
Whether you like it or not, the other person thought of using that name first.
Although, how original that name is kind of begs the question.
I have to admit that I’ve thought of names that happened to be already taken .. but oh well … it just forced me to be more creative and original which I prefer anyhow.
I like the NPC/DE day/night idea.
I’ve been in open areas (and caves) where the lighting is diminished (especially at night) considerably and the use of a torch often made the difference of illumintion.
I recall one dungeon I was in was really very dark and your only source of protection is a magical torch (blue flame) which also gave you the only illumination you could get
in the darkness. But the 6 help you if you dropped it because it kept the “skelks” at bay from you who would otherwise rip you to pieces without it.
egos … elitist … preview an opponents armor, weapons and skillsets before you fight them ..
Smells of an subversive and exploitable way to gain advantages instead of relying on skill and ability. Why not just look up the stats on the wiki. (If it’s not there yet, build it up with the information). After that, it becomes a matter of knowing how to use your skills.
To allow that institution of “preview” will tear a community to pieces.
It was bad enough in GW where you were excluded or kicked from a group because you didn’t have an elite skill equipped. What of the armor .. elite armor had no better attributes of regular armor, all it had was a bigger expense but had no repair cost.
If you have to test someone else … take it to pvp and pray you have learned how to use your unique skills better than they have with theirs.
I’ve noticed already in my research that the different levels of armor already have respective level of “built in” damage resistances. So, yeah I can see why some have to pursue the top notch armors at incredible expense. But besides appearances and the bragging rights (pretige) of having aquired them .. all that means nothing when facing an opponent who knows how to use their skills more effeciently than you know how to use yours. But then again … it’s all about getting that “extra edge” over them in your favor .. isn’t it.
Well, I for one … think it’s a good idea.
MF needs to be eliminated. Get back to teamwork and getting the goal of the event.
This MF is imho too much an exploitable issue.
Oh how I hate the risen …. wish I could simply cut their legs off and then move in for the decapitation out of sheer enjoyment.
One spot where a skill challenge is located in a maze on the cursed shore is an absolute madhouse now. Before, it was a matter of getting pass the risen and take on the challenge long enough to beat it, still manage to fight my way back out and survive. Until Recently:
I went in with a friend to go after the challenge and noticed that undead were respawning far faster than before … not to mention that a risen giant somehow ended up in there really complicating things*** …
If that’s not insane enough, during the mayhem and chaos we ***encountered a small group of what we throught were other players … was I ever wrong …
they spawned somewhere in the middle of all the fighting long enough to kill the risen giant and then vanished into thin air. My partner and I got separated in all the confusion and she was killed by the risen after mistakenly following another mysterious “player” that also vanished .. leaving her to fight alone.
Of course due to “scaling” .. the instance became exceedingly more difficult because of the mysterious appearance/disappearance of the others. It suddenly came to mind this was a botting instance and so infuritated me to nearly blind rage.
I managed to fight my own way to the challenge but still hindered by respawning risen … (a couple of veterans adding insult to injury). Just before I was killed by a blasted veteran risen preserver (after having killed it once already in the same spot)
I managed to win the challenge after being downed at least twice.
Yeah, I hate the risen with a passion .. but another problem exists in Orr that I’m certain you all are aware of and we all hate them probably worse than the risen.
Just a note to add refering to the god’s attributes that you missed and they are mentioned by Lyssas’ muse at the conclusion of the Gate of Madness mission in Nightfall.
I took a moment to look this up since I couldn’t help but notice the comparisons of human gods to the elder dragons.
Lyssa’s Muse:
“But now you must realize that our gifts are within you. Dwayna lives in your compassion, Balthazar in your strength.”
Lyssa’s Muse:
“Melandru dwells in your harmony, Grenth in your justice.”
Lyssa’s Muse:
“And in your inspiration, Lyssa is there.”
Sub-note: Abbadon was the god of secrets. (“secrets” is really a very vague/broad term where when Kormir makes that final decision to become a god, she becomes the god of truth .. yet imbued with all the knowlege of secrets).
Someone mentioned a server cap at 15,000 …
…
…
15,000 ???
I see a mulitude of servers with a “Full”, “High” lable …
I find it incredibly difficult to believe they’re all really, “Full” and “High” ..
It can’t possibly mean they’re at full capacity 24/7 as that’s a statistic impossibility ..
unless an ungodly amount of those populations are made up of bots.
Pretty cool idea.
I don’t know what character profession you’re playing, but having a thief or two (maybe more) with the AOE cloaking healing skill (ground targetable by the way) ..
will break the enemy lock on you and give you a chance to revive your allies. Even if it means stopping and retreat to safety before you decloak allowing the skill to recharge.
At least this tactic will give you a chance to get everyone back on their feet in case of a “near” party wipe.

One little trick to knocking of the interfering mobs is to have serious AOE damage.
Barrage and bouncing axes (rangers), Trickshots (ricochet) by thieves .. .and concentrate fire on the champion. The bouncing/ricochets will often knock off the mobs while you’re still damaging the champion as long as you’re in a confined area.
But, keep in mind some champion attributes can reverse the damage you deal to them thusly sending it right back to you.
Became uncontested about an hour ago on Henge of Denravi. How long that’s going to last is anyone’s guess. We took down that priest pretty quick.
Ran across the Shadow Behemoth just yesterday after a set chain of events occured that appears to have began at the monestary.
Seems most of the “lesser” dragons project their power by the use of minions. Seriously, if the Devs wanted to make the dragons aggressive and really dangerous …
do you really think you’ld stand up to the challenge of going broke fixing your armor?
I think not because all your questing for that legendary junk climbs incredibly out of your reach. I can hear the whining now ….
Thanks for that info BuddhaKeks.
I believe Legendary weapons should be soulbound and this is my reasoning …
a player goes to the extent of aquiring all the necessary items to create such a weapon ..
then the weapon they create by default should be a weapon they only can use according to their profession. But then, creating a weapon that only they can use means they have to exercise forethought and planning ahead to avoid making the mistake of crafting something they can never use.
This is part of the problem I see with crafting and the trading post … I see legendary weapons for SALE … because they made the mistake of poor planning or was it because of greed and they could craft such a weapon out of hubris.
Do they call that “kitten pew pew” as a way to attempt and regain all of (or most) of the items and gold lost in a bad decision?
I’d have to say, tough kittens. You have to learn from mistakes and own up to them.

I can speculate on this a bit …
you come into an area after a while to discover it’s devoid of “players” …
Perhaps it was formerly infested with bots who were finally banned.
A Lich is by profession is a powerful necromancer (either dead or alive, but for all practical purposes is their self a transformed “undead”) who can summon the dead and control them to act on its behalf.
Just from reading this and recalling what I remember from the Mursaat in GW1 (along with the story of Saul D’Alesio (sp) …
the Mursaat strikes me as beings who originally came from the mists (or at least “through” it from another world). We met a seer who told us that we would be the ones to do what its entire race could not do .. destroy the Mursaat and fulfill the Flameseeker Prophesies.
We “destroyed” the Mursaat to fulfill that prophesy, but it doesn’t say that we destroyed them completely. I think that would be another story which would make sense.

Evil clone? Sister? Pink? An event at the Claw of Jormaq …
Seems more like bragging of a fashion statement … nothing to do with the personal story per se.
Nowhere in the storyline/personal story does it bring you to the Claw of Jormaq event .. So it’s kind of irrelavent.
But it’s your perogative to toot your own horn .. but in a general discussion thread imho. No offence meant.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on an exotic loot drop once in a while. It would sure save funds at the trading post.
I too have experienced this RIP OFF a minimum of 3 times.
Not to be offensive, but to have the Dredge somehow patterned after the Soviets was in bad taste and a racial slur to boot. No matter how you slice it. In GW1 EoN campaign, they were distinctive as their own race and didn’t seem patterned after any specific race.
This however, went a bit too far imho. They should have been kept distinctive.
why bother talking to a parasite? Just snuff us off with a poisonous breath is more than enough show of contempt.
Sorry .. but trying to keep a foothold on an Elder Dragon while it twists and turns … trying to scrape/scratch you off like some parasite … seems to defy natural physics.
You’re gonna have to find some way to anchor your character on it or fall screaming to your doom.
But, it’s a pretty cool idea though.
It’s something about that final battle where it seems important to have thinking people covering each other’s backs. But, I agree that the NPC’s should be buffed a bit more and capable of “aiding” each other as well as us. (I’ve seen it in some places in Orr for real where an NPC revived me when I was downed and no other person was nearby).
In one part of a story line, we got to use Caladbolg in battle, but in the long run relinquish it to Trahearn for his wyld hunt.
Shoot … we’re given the title of “Champion of Orr” by King Riza himself after defeating the Eye of Zhaitan. Why aren’t we given that Champion attribute that we often face with those bosses. Yeah, I know .. the word “zerg” comes to mind, but in reality for the story line … it should be a given (even if only a temporary one).
(edited by Lechtrixx.1053)
Well, we are actually placed in that position after Trahearn completes his wyld hunt. He commits all the pacts resources to your cause. So in effect, you become the warmarshall.
I have to agree with the testing of weapons. I’ve been in several scenes with different characters that seemed to be the brunt of some obnoxious experiement that we would have to clean up. Priory “intelligence”, and Asuran “genius” especially were typically unpleasant bedfellows.
Purifying the waters of Orr was specifically Trahearn’s wyld hunt, although I’d agree that Zhaitan should have been the top priority given the source of the undead.
But, that’s where we come in and becomes our ultimate aim regardless of what race we choose to represent.
She isn’t immune to being blinded and you can call up an additional thief to aid you.
That should put you on more equal footing.
We’re actually “warmarshall” Trahearn’s right hand as his commander. I’m sure you’re aware that at the end of his wyld hunt, he commits all the pact forces to what has become our cause and the defeat of Zhaitan.
That’s why we’re heroes.
There are instances of NPC’s being turned into risen in the story line. In the first cleansing attempt by Trahearn at the tombs, the Norn woman was turned and had to be killed.
A word of warning:
Many “mobile” applications are written in Java. So, keep in mind that many of the popular devices in use today could be running with compromised software.
Advise those who use mobile devices to take them to the related outlet for check.
If you could only earn a real living with that much work.
You don’t have to run your entire personal story “solo” until “Victory or Death”.
You can have a team of 5 through the whole story if you so wish it.
But, that’s what a guild is for right? Your guild mates?
OHHHH DARN …. what an oversight !!
I was about to pull my own hair out trying to beat Mazdak in that cemetary. I got killed a few times … but with that sword, “Caladbolg” I did eventually beat him … once I got my timing right.
It would simply be easier in the long run … IF other people would group with you.
How odd … Forgal dead on the beach??? LMAO
You must have been busy fighting your own battles …
My character fought by his side … we surived to the point where he made the last sacrifice to ensure the safe exit of the survivors which is supposed to be led by you.
You don’t have to necessarily fight every battle and kill everything …
some actions require you to avoid combat when possible to succeed with the objective.
But if fighting till your last dieing breath is your way of doing things besides thinking tactically, more power to you.
(edited by Lechtrixx.1053)
I have to laugh. Complaining about the Sylvari being able to do things that took the other races centuries to master.
Look at it this way …
In real life … kids are doing things with computers that adults still can’t figure out.
Take that to heart.
I’ve initiated characters into all three of the orders, each with their own challenges. However I tend to favor the Order of Whispers since it’s been around longer “historically”. The other two seem more as recent creations since the dragons awakened.
The only hard part about that specific “quest” .. (mission) …
is figuring out how to get across between wind gusts.
Yeah … I got blown off a few times … but I still eventually made it across.
That was with my asuran elementalist.
like saying the world has to be black and white. You’re wrong.
Trahearne doesn’t need to be evil, you folks take the cake at it.
simple solution to your problem:
form up a zerg and assault the gates of Arah with the Pact.
Problem solved.
The trick is following the triggered events …. as long as they haven’t been
player sabotaged for the purpose of farming.
(edited by Lechtrixx.1053)
I don’t see where that’s an exploitable issue.
Knock them off, (like us, if the fall is far enough) they die .. simple as that. That “What if” …. is too vague leaving the situation open with too many variables. Suppose they fall into water (which at times I am lucky enough to fall into and survive some times) ..
either have them find their way back to the point of the fight, “kill the npc by default” or have it respawn at the point of origin.
IF knocking an NPC into an inaccessable area poses a potential problem, then the program should “reset” the NPC to it’s original location. Not necessarily stalling the event.
As far as “needing” an item from an NPC, if it’s an event item necessary for the story line to progress or trigger a following event .. that would be an exception. But regular loot drops would be a moot point since they’re more than likely common items.
But there is also a major problem with hitting npc’s from a vantage point where they are set to “invulnerable” making a kill impossible. Not necessarily an exploitable issue, but more of an exploitable position which is normal.
This is incredibly frustrating and maddening.
Notibly the Temple of Lyssa being the high platform that it is.
I’ve been knocked off that platform more than I can recount .. BUT
I’m okay with that issue even if the fall ends in my death..
However, here is the BUG that irritates the living stew out of me ….
NPC’s cannot be “knocked off” and suitably suffer the same consequences.
Rather than being knocked off the platform, they hit some invisible wall that keeps them on the platform, where they get up and come right back in my face until
I finally kill them …. or get knocked OFF the same platform by some hit from a trebuchet..
This is really a serious game bug. IF I’m going to get my butt knocked off such a high place, NPC’s should be just as vulnerable instead of this being kept on the platform by some invisible wall.
I can tell you exactly why it was “nerfed” if you want to call it that.
Instead of an event, too many people were making it a long, drawn out
farm fest. That destroys the spirit of the game and what it was meant to be.
For crying out loud, I was at one of the Claw of Jormaq events for more than
24 HOURS. That’s a mindless waste of time just seeing people waiting for the “trash”
to spawn while the hapless pact wears down the wall. Even when the wall went down,
the “farmers” stood there and did NOTHING toward assaulting the dragon.
I challenged the group of people there to do something to expedite the event ..
the shame was, they were more interested in farming the elementals.
It’s the same way for many of the dynamic events.
Too many “farmers” turning this into some malign way of making gold from drops
and managed to turn what would otherwise be challenging/rewarding events
into a worthless job that can’t put food in your mouth.
You, not ANet have managed to destroy the game.
I am tired of soloing across Tyria and running into more (even sophisticated scripted) bots than people.
I’ve jumped in to help others in trouble only to find myself battling an enemy alone at my own peril … that they have no interest in defeating an enemy but rather simply get to the next waypoint. They infuriate me and I hate them worse than bots.
I want a Guild who is fully represented in world with a minimum of 5 people in the same group at the same location on the same server 24/7.
I want loyalty to the Guild and its fellow players above all else regardless of nationality.
The guild must be, by nature an international guild made up of people from all walks of life around the globe.
The guild must be actively involved in the detection, reporting and removal of bots and have no players using such scripted devices under penalty of removal from the guild, reported to ANet and banned from the game.
The language barrier should be of no consequence since it is actions that speak louder than words. A guild that stands together, bands together and fights together, wins together.
The guild must have a sustainable leadership representing each major global zone.
The leaders must have earned the right to bear the insignia of “Commander” and not simply because they purchased the compendium.
On the fields of PVE battle and chained group events, the guild follows the chain of events… not continuously running in circles. That’s a waste of time.
Preferably, the guild maintains a standing occupational force in key areas once the event has been successful to ensure the area is not overrun by the enemy and forcing a re-run of the chain of events. (I don’t like paying for the same real-estate twice).
The guild also rotates its occupational forces between the key areas to eliminate boredom.
This probably sounds like a very large guild, but once I see it for myself … I would join it.
I play my characters passionately and they are all at lvl 80.
Hope I’m not wishful thinking.
If you’re a guild with such a standing force, I want to hear from you.
With every character I’ve played through the storyline up through Arah, (each character representing each race) one thing noticably came to my attention at the third character going through the grind.
Every time, it eventually (and regretfully) focuses on the undead and the two dragons associated with it (re: Blightghast the Plaguebringer at Lion’s Arch and eventually Zhaitan at Arah).
Each race of Tyria has its own lesser dragon to contend with, but they’re not included in the development of the story line leading up to the creation of the Pact.
I’m suggesting to develop individual story lines that evolve from each of the races to include dealing with the lesser dragons in their respective Tyrian area. Sylvari, Norn, Charr, Human and the Asuran.
As the storyline suggests after defeating Zhaitan, there are other elder dragons to hunt down and kill. It should be so. But let the other dragons remain as group events, but include them in the story.
About the dragons themselves:
imho: Although beautifully designed and animated, they’re woefully pathetic, merely doing some threatening dance routine and spewing modest damage. Sure, the pact can bring them down from the sky … but I’m suggesting that the dragons could be more dangerously “agressive”.
