I cannot say that Rangers have their flaws. The main issue in instances is that the pet is pretty much an arsepuller if you don’t watch out and that it dies quick. A way to fix this was to go 15 points into the Beastmastery tree to get the quicker swap and quickness on swap. If you aren’t tanking or anything I prefer ranged pets since they tend to be hit allot less. I personally play with devourer and bear/wolf. Use the F2 ability and swap to get a quickness boost. Some bosses you’ll have to play into his attack combination. For example in AC you have the Luitenant Kholer when you see him go into whirlwind mode switch pets as you dodge to avoid your pet from dying.

The burrows the best way is probably to start using a greatsword or any other melee weapon you have at your disposable since they have a sweet spot now where you can stand without missing which was the other bane.

Skill Build is a choice of preference I think. I use Quickening Zephyr – Lightning Reflexes – Frost/Fire/Spike Trap(situational) and Rampage as One. My main weapon is the Greatsword.

I have been banned in the past without explanation and my e-mail asking why went ignored. I’ve been infracted 7 times for ridiculous things ranging from “trolling” while helping people, to “not posting helpful information” in a general discussion, on one occasion I even got infracted for the same message twice. I even saw an entirely legitmate response get marked trolling on the basis of the personal incredulity of the moderator!

So, you can understand some of us are getting seriously exasperated about the moderating and taking it up privately with the moderating team has yielded nothing

You have learned a passive ability to troll even when you’re not attempting to do so.

OT: I think the servers are still quite populated but the main problem is where this population is currently placed. One of the areas they’re all in is Lions Arch to recruit for their FoTM of the day or for one of the other instances. Another thing I noticed on my servers is the contested of waypoints. While this is not so much an issue in the lower level zones since taking things back is relative easy on your own the issue arises when you arrive in Straits of Devastation and beyond.

The way I would like to see this changed is making a overflow server of all these zones where you automagically get sent into and when you arrive in these lands you’re offered with the choice of going back to your empty homeserver or staying in the somewhat more active overflow server. While this might not be such a big issue yet the same could be done with lower level areas just to give people that solo at least the feeling they’re not entirely alone on a map which it sometimes feels like.

The game is still quite active but due to the new FoTM instance in Lion’s Arch the activity changed from all areas to a center in LA. This is when it comes to max leveled players.

However the lower level areas are quite silent. You’ll see a player here and there but you can count the amount on one hand. I think they need to make you auto join a sort of overflow system for the lower level areas so there is one common server/few overflows so we can have some level of activity going on and events can roll out as supposed to.

/sarcasm Refer? Ofcourse I would refer them to make a trial account shortly before the next big event and get several free precursor weapons to start out with for either selling or growing potential either way it’s a awesome start! /sarcasm off

Refer? I said maybe depends a bit whom I would refer. My friend who just moved houses is gonna try GW2 out due to my referral but I myself am not so much in the mood for GW2 the past few days. Planet Side 2 started last evening so might just shoot some heads for a few days then come back. I guess that’s one of the best things about GW2 once you’re exotic geared there isn’t much to hurry about things anymore and Ascended gear everyone is whining about is sort of like one of those things GW1 also had but it’s meant to advance through that specific dungeon. It cannot use runes which I prefer in WvW anyway.

Precursor Drop Rate From Event Chest

in The Lost Shores

Posted by: Leviatana.8107

Leviatana.8107

How can you explain then that several guildies got a precursor (the short bow mostly) on that particular event ? Dozens of people participate in my guilds not hundreds or thousands.

because several dozen (36?) out of 300,000 isn’t a large enough sample size to say anything. You are in a lucky guild. My guild of 300 only had 1 person get a precursor.

I almost doubled the amount of precursors actually added to the market to account for people using them for themselves and people who bought them before gw2spidy could take another data point. If you have more accurate numbers and a source for them I would be happy to do the numbers again, but based on what data I could find that is the drop rate.

The same answer could be applied to your guild then. You just had a very unlucky guild and out of 300k you popped out of the rabbits hat that’s not really much people. This make your own calculations flawed since fansites never really give me a legit feeling. Basing this on the Trading Post most likely will not work since allot will just put it in their stash and wait for the price to go back up or trade it with friends.

Precursors, really?

in The Lost Shores

Posted by: Leviatana.8107

Leviatana.8107

The problem is when you see the map chat filled with precursors the question is why some didn’t get one while others got up to 2+ precursors from the entire event. If everyone got one or nobody got one at all I think I wouldn’t feel the way about the game as I do right now.

This is like being at a school and a big group of children receive that most popular action figure or barbie girl and their a few that get some second hand toy they don’t care about at all. You’ll feel cheated as a child you would feel sad and left out of the group that did get that thing they always wanted at that point.

One word: Unfair.

I’m not sure if I’ll feel the urge to login again anytime soon. I might just check out some series and other games people been trying to get me to try out.

I think everyone should have been equally rewarded. Like the Karka chest with a 20slot bag and a nice ring. Once half the people get a precursor and the other half of them miss out due to DC or being unlucky then it’s a question of how the person will take this. If you read half the guild has a precursor the other half feels left out. They’re expensive, rare and give a person something to work towards to. A grind of 300+ gold (it’ll be back to that price in about 3 days) or throwing in over 9000 exotics in hope for your precursor the question is will I be able to be bothered with that?

Right now I’m not in the best of moods as I managed to get 2 useless exotics that are useful for the mystic forge. I think they should have thought about the consesquences of only allowing third/half the people of getting a precursor.

The main issue I have had in WvW is that their clones/illusions/phantasms load in but the actual character stays invisible. Giving me an idea where he/she is but not allowing me to actually target the mesmer. This is not really a mesmer to blame for just the issues WvW is bringing along in Guild Wars 2 with phased out players even when you’re surrounded and they are all able to target you, you still don’t have to see these people yourself.

Professions
Ranger
Updated all sword abilities to feel more in line with the other weapons.
Removed the part were the auto attack from the sword rooted the player in place.
Updated the short bow to be more in line with how it felt before the auto attack changes made in previous patch.

Water/Wind/Stone Spirit: Increased the base health by 50% to increase the survivability of the pets.
Entangle: Entangle’s bleed will now increase appropriately with the amount of condition damage the ranger has.
Crossfire: Removed the positional requirement of Crossfire but lower the chance it’ll apply a bleed to 66% from any direction
Quick Draw: Quick Draw was moved to the Marksmanship tree and replaced Piercing Arrow adding both effects together. Quick Draw was replaced with a new trait that makes the bleed from Crossfire 100% and increases the damage by 5% for the short bow
Long Range Shot: The attack animation will feel more fluid and the speed has been slightly adjusted.
Signet of the Hunt: The passive movement speed increase has been brought in line with other movement speed signets going from 10% > 25%
Signet of Stone: A stun break has been added for you and your pet on the active ability.
Guard!: Your pet will guard an area but also gain a increase toughness and vitality and a small damage increase for every enemy within the guarded area.

I can think of more but let’s keep it at this for now.

Again, Rangers are fine…..oh wait :-(

After watching that I don’t even feel like playing a ranger anymore lol…

Outch……

I think now its time to reroll a Warrior, because hes the REAL one Ranger……

Ranger sucks @ DPS, compared to Warrior and Thief…. we are one of the worst 1vs1 Class and we arent allowed to make Dmg…….

This is rly frustrating….

But anyway i hope they nerf this….. 15k Aoe? Rly?

Ps. sry for my Bad English

The rifle for a warrior has a similar trait as our Bows turning their Rifle and Harpoon gun into piercing weapons but also makes them recharge faster. It’s a combination of our Piercing Arrows and Quick Draw. Which more or less means everything in a straight line of the rifle gets hit by it and turning a already powerful weapon into something even more powerful.

Comparing MMO is all well and such since it’s your previous experience but some of these issues are completely based on your own personal feelings.

As you call yourself a Veteran MMO gamer and then compare the game to pretty much only WoW is in my eyes another WoW gamer that played the game since day 1 possibly and thought of making a short break till the Panda release came along.

WoW is a nice MMO cause it copies the content of other MMO that do well and followup on it in their own flavour.

As to your points. Guild Wars 2 is supposed to give you the feeling of progression no matter what you do. Be it crafting, rezzing some poor soul, running around exploring or killing other players in WvW. I can understand that the experience gained at the moment from crafting is a tid bit high but nothing to be too concerned about if you plan your crafting right.

Grouping up and socializing, I agree there is no group find system at the moment but they have mentioned they are working on it. It’s already a nice thing you can make groups cross-server and if this is in that will make this just whole lot easier then it currently is.

Open-world PvP – Always something to question about not everyone likes the idea to be able to get attacked anywhere, anyplace. I think they got it right with the World vs World system as it currently is just maybe some tweaking on who fights who but thats all it is. Nobody is forcing anyone to jump into WvW and yet it’s filled with people most of the day that you are able to kill to level up, capture stuff and just generally have fun.

I’ll grab a few things I personally don’t have a problem with at all:

- Casual Activities there some ingame Keg Brawl, Costume Brawl Jumping Puzzles (most of them) and there are probably more.
- Traveling System – no issues here I like how it works if you wanna ride a bird for the next 2 hours to travel from one side of the country to another you know where to go for that. If you wanna do that in Guild Wars 2 just walk across all maps till you reach your destination.
- The Endgame concept, not sure how your look can be so biased there is tons of things to do but not in the same way as in WoW. Where you have to grind PvP specific armor or PvE specific armor cause one couldn’t be used in the other. I think this has been one of the worst changes I have seen in MMO’s of late. For some reason there is need of Vengeance and Valor, PvP attack, defense. WoW, SWtor, Aion and Rift from the top of my mind all have this sad system implemented.
I won’t say i’m a full time pvp’er or pve’er but I like to take part in both activities and also like to jump around some puzzles once in awhile, throw tarts in peoples faces and what not. Try and see how lucky I might get one day and get a legendary weapon at my disposable. It’s not a game about getting the best gear it’s about showing off the best looks and how you worked towards it that’s what shows your status not the level of kitten in the stats of pvp attack so you can possibly one shot the new guy. That new guy doesn’t enjoy being one shot.

Most of the issues aren’t really issues but just things that need tweaking, balancing and what not.

Also noticed somebody mentioned something about bugs in the game he cannot look past. Every MMO and even singleplayer game comes with bugs nowadays you just cannot get past it. If you were to look at your veteran mmo game you played so much for example there were tons of bugs and did you care then? Maybe if you were affected by it but o therwise you would ignore it completely.

Well I cannot say anything to this since early on I disabled my General chat from my main tab and threw it in a secondary one. The candy corn though is easily found by mining outside Lion’s Arch or in Trick-and-Treat Bag’s that even drop from normal mobs. As usual I did my daily instance run and got about 30~40 candy corn from one path. Afterwards I walked through Malchor’s Leap and found a few Rich Candy Corn veins netting around 30 candy corns once again. My friends also found some Rich ones in Queensdale and Caledon Forest while exploring on their lowbies. I find it a bit sad that people on your server react in such a way. Sounds like their people there with issues and If I were you I would try to ignore those type of people and just ask again or ask your guildies!

I have both the Mad King Costume and Witch Costumes but as far as i have seen they don’t give instant win buttons it’s just specific skills that have a opportunity to hit a dozen of people but in a small radius and if you get hit during this by something else you get interrupted except for the witches ooze pool though once it’s over the mummy can do some sort of pummel attack while you get back to your original form. It’s all about the timing!
Same can be thought of tonics mentioned before the Ooze, Eagle Raptor and most likely some other tonics. I actually wonder what the cooking outfit will do during the brawl. Slam people with frying pans and what not? Who knows!

Leviatana.8107

People are trying to get through event content quickly so they can complain. They outfitted Lion’s Arch with a really nice halloween style look. A few costumes on the store that look very fun on my Asura at least. Flying on a broomstick made me laugh and the Phantom Hood has an awesome look to itself as well. The Costume Brawl is something you have to like I guess it’s just a mini-game that Incorporates the tonics, mystic cauldron and the cauldrons summoned by the witches.
There is a small chain event that involves the event or at least the start of it that includes some lore and requires a bit of thinking and possibly the need to get some help from social media/guildies/friends or if you’re lucky some nice folks on the map chats. I didn’t have much trouble finding this as you seem to mention. During my time checking out how the Halloween city looked like I stumbled upon the new npcs that were heavily crowded with people and was more or less a tell something interesting might be going on there leading up to finding this device and clues to the event chain.

Sigils or Orbs for weapons

in Ranger

Posted by: Leviatana.8107

Leviatana.8107

Hi Everyone,

I have a question which may sound silly but I just want to find out, for rangers with Long Bows or Short Bows, do you guys imbue Superior Sigils into it or Orbs e.g Ruby Orb?

I see Ruby Orbs e.g gives Power, Precision, Critical Damage. On the other hand, e.g Sigil may only give 5% additional damage. Is it worth it to exchange have 5% more damage instead of 3 attributes that orbs give?

I am really not good at character equipment building, so your opinions will be most appreciated.

Thank you

The Sigils are better then Orbs. If you do not possess exotic jewelry it might even be a better idea to save them since they are crafted with the orbs.

Orbs give you a static small stat bonus but often not as good as a superior sigil. The 5% damage or crit or perhaps even one of the types that stack power with every kill often workout allot better in the end then a orb.

If you cannot afford a Sigil though a Orb is ofcourse always a nice thing to put in till you do find or manage to buy one.

@Sleepy

Having tested out all weapons my taste goes mainly to the greatsword mainly due to the close melee ranged and mobility it adds. I agree the sword has some nice ways to make a distance and evades like the hornet leap and serpent strike but I don’t like this rooted feeling it gives. If you add a dagger offhand to this you have another evade even which I did try out for awhile to see how it worked but I cannot say I’m a fan of these two weapons (sword and dagger).

When I’m running with the greatsword the third followup on the autoattack Power Stab let’s you evade a rapid attack, you have a daze and a block(with knockback followup) available to you. Perhaps a personal taste but I prefer this over a sword due to the fact I can still move around unless I activate my block counter but then you know something big is coming your way anyway.

This is a new feature to the ranger class. Somewhere along your travels as a ranger you’ll meet a fellow NPC ranger that trains Krytan Hounds after a short conversation with him he’ll sell you a pack of his finest Krytan Hounds if you so would desire. This’ll only work if you haven’t tamed a Juvenile Krytan Hound yet. Now when you take the Krytan Hound as one of your pet and summon it from now on you’ll get a pack of 10 Krytan Hounds. This will allow us to chain fear our enemy for the next 20 seconds. This is our I-win button which we hide very well and try not to show off too much otherwise we might see pet nerf sooner then later.

OT: Like mentioned before this is a bug from a rune and what you just read is just a joke sorry to burst your bubble.

I run through Ascalonian Catacombs and Caudecus’s Manor both in explorable mode. In all chests there was a 1c reward. 1 copper!!!

All other stuff (chest and drop) was mostly common or fine items 99% not appropriate for my level or armor class. All of it worthless on TP.

At the end of Caudecus’s Manor I got 20s. But considering that armor repair, which happens sometimes in dungeons, cost 3s-5s…

CM is not really a money gainer but I have to disagree on AC. Use a Omnomberry Bar for 40% gold find and most of the paths will have 2 gold type mobs that drop 5~7 silver each. The final boss in AC gives 15~22 silver and the path reward is another 26 silver. Add the blue and green stuff to the vendor and you make close to 1 gold in 20 minutes time. That’s around 3 gold for a full AC clear in an hour and 15 minutes or so.

The fact that you need greats amount of karma, badges, ingredients gathered is allot of work but that wouldn’t be so much of an issue and actually gives you something to do if it wasn’t so hard to actually gain a precursor weapon. The people that exploited the godskull bug and whatever else was available sit are currently Scrooge McDuck. While those that didn’t take the bait and avoided the exploit entirely or found out later are stuck enjoying this beautiful RNG system the koreans love. NcSoft employees too much in your team now? I can understand the precursor can be hard to gain but then make it hard in a different way. Gathering 10k tokens from all instances would be less RNG then your current system.

The skill is useful for control but I find it a hard trade-off in PvP I like the use Rampage as One as well due to the 20 second stability it adds. Not being on my butt for 20 seconds can be just as devastating in a battle as a well placed Entangle.

Entangle to me is more useful in a group fight rather then solo battles while the Rampage as One comes into play when I solo a bit more.

I can easily read the abilities after I have done a boss a few times though some are still somewhat unpredictable the animations often is a cue for me to do one of those 3..2..1… dodge! kind of things however the pet reaction time between his last auto attack and retreating is often too long for him to turn around and get out far enough of the abilities these boss mob cast thus I have learned to time my pet swap with my dodge roll which works most of the time. I traited 15 points into beastmastery to get a shorter cooldown on the swap and that severely helps to keep it alive.

Ranger doesn’t mean it’s immediately a ranged class. I prefer to use my Greatsword over a Bow for awhile already cause it feels more dynamic then a bow which seems to be have multiple issues and is still being tweaked by Arenanet. Greatsword might not be so strong but at least everything works and I can enjoy myself just as well if not better. You just need to change your traits around to focus a bit more on defensive stats and it works out fine.

Why on Earth would I do that? Cause it’s fun and I enjoy it and maybe others as well. It’s like saying that the Warrior is a ranged class cause it has a rifle and bow available to it and ignoring the other weapons it has to it’s disposal.

I haven’t even bought this skill, because it seemed pretty laughable to have a single-target root as an elite skill. Does it hit multiple targets? Also, does it hit MOVING targets? Our regular root skill doesn’t stick if the mob is moving…which makes it pretty useless.

Based on this thread, it sounds kind of like the only thing that makes it remotely useful is some bugs with the game that people are exploiting. I’ll probably never buy it.

It’s an aoe root with aoe bleed that puts those vines along them like the sylvari single target root. Yes, it hits targets that move and targets that stands still but it does put you on the spot while casting it.

I think the reason is that it’s meant as a aoe cc for a few seconds and if that added a bleed that increased on condition damage that could be overpowered in some eyes. Towards me this rather feels like a balancing thing rather then a bug that is involved in the elite skill. The reason it doesn’t cc longer then a few seconds in PvP is probably in someway a diminishing return.

It’s not intended. The tooltip scales with condition damage. The real effect does not.

Guess that’s why the damage felt static to me and never really looked at it again. I mostly use it as a temporary crowd control rather then it’s effect the low bleed ticks which never really made a difference in my eyes though I didn’t understand why the 20 bleeds weren’t put on directly since that’s what I assume when I read the effects of the skill and that would make sense to me for a elite skill.

OT: Yes the Spirits are lacking a bit when it comes to their effects I guess if their health was upped a bit more or at least their toughness is same as yours. That would be great cause when I see them get hit by random aoe my teeth were grinding even when I moved them out of it they were dying too quick to be useful. Thus I haven’t tried the Spirit build for awhile now. Going for traps or survivability seems more usefull in the long run.

PvP wise the pets are a bad thing to have cause they are able to make certain class skills hit when you’re alone. This is why I want the Ranger class to be able to get certain traits that allow you to run around petless and perhaps have some advantages out of that.

PvE wise there isn’t much to complain besides they need a dodge roll when i dodge roll but this is also important for PvP in my honest opinion.

@Dardamaniac You said it’s easy to get him to chase you with F3 but when you see an enemy cast a certain animation in PvE it’s often too late for the pet to run out of it and if it does manage it’ll usually be sitting at 5% health dying on the followup aoe of some kind. Only way I have seen to get past this issue is swapping my pet right after i rolled away and sent in the new pet and do the same thing when the animation happens again.

I have been playing my Ranger in PvE allot (mostly) dungeons. When it comes to these places I feel i’m still somewhat supportive thanks to the Healing Spring and the Warhorn aoe buff. On the side I currently play with a Greatsword even though I notice a clear difference between my dps when I was specced into full power with defensive stats. However what I did notice was that when I switched to a tanky build (0/0/30/25/15) I didn’t see my DPS go down that much either rather I felt more powerful thought it was a bit weird actually made me wonder how effective Power actually is on a Ranger cause it feels like it’s not as effective towards us as it is supposed to be.

PvP mainly focusing on WvW I think the Ranger lacks my pet seems to allow them to use chain attacks that bounce around. The pet feels more like a bane here then a helpful addition. I concluded from this that I would play my ranger mostly in PvE and slowly level up a new character to enjoy WvW to the fullest.

Towards me this rather feels like a balancing thing rather then a bug that is involved in the elite skill. The reason it doesn’t cc longer then a few seconds in PvP is probably in someway a diminishing return.

Didn’t they remove the reflective part of the offhand axe? Anyhow my current setup is

Greatsword and Axe/Warhorn. Unlike the sword the greatsword allows me to circle around the mob and use my skills wisely while giving me the ability to dodge roll whenever i wish to do so. I use my Warhorn to buff myself and the group for 20 seconds. The axe is nice to keep my distance for awhile while still being part of the fight.

The very first time I stood inside a 5 hour queue to get into WvW or the first time I died a bazzilion times inside a instance. Well those are some of the more boring memories I guess.

Clearing the entire AC Paths 1,2,3 and this meant allot of teamwork which can result in hilarious things to happen specially with the dodge roll system. Finishing some of the epic world bosses like the gigantic shadow beast in Queensdale. I think those are more memorable and fun things I have seen. WvW when I did manage to play was taking the Stonemist Castle against all odds.

Graphic card maybe?

There was a driver update for Nvidia a few days ago not sure if you updated it yet and that might be the cause and effect of the faster fps and anomalies.

Best way to check if this the case is running another graphic card intense game. If the clipping and pixel issues also happen here that means it might be you’re having graphic card issues.

If you did install the driver update and shortly happened after this downgrade that first ofcourse. It might be just a corrupted driver or driver having some weird issues like a long time ago the Nvidia Drivers shutdown the fan on the graphic cards.

On last note: I hope the game is running on the Geforce card the issues might also derive from the onboard graphics they tend to be overheat quicker cause they aren’t made for gaming persé

In my honest opinion every class except Ranger should have their damage nerfed by about 90%.

OT: If you’re playing against a mesmer i think it’s best to first lay down a big aoe if you’re a quick observer you’ll notice the illusions quite easily due to the lack of HP compared to the real deal. After you made sure you have the right one get him with a cc of some sort that prevents and use normal burst till around 40% at this point the best thing to do is lay down a bigger stun/daze or fear if you have that followed by a short quick high burst. I found that to one of the better ways to get down a mesmer.

a tip: When they’re downed and create that illusion just look at the one with a big red arrow pointing towards it. The illussion mesmer doesn’t have that.

Ranger with NO PET??

Leviatana.8107

I wish to see the ability to play without pet though I also highly doubt it. The pet is our class mechanic or at least the biggest part of it. Changing the part of no pet means that certain traits might need to change as well cause they involve you and our pet also perhaps a different class mechanic entirely. In a different mmo they made it so that without pet your dps increased by about 20% that would otherwise have been your pet. If they were to do something like that I think the issues with the lackluster dps would also partially be gone.

I’ll sum it up just for those that don’t like walls of text:

- Pets are our Class Mechanic so small chance we would be able to lose them permanently in a stowaway
- Pets are intertwined with most of our traits and this would have to change if this does happen
- Pets die too easily and never are were they need to be, also their special skill has a tendency of not activiting till it’s too late
- Pets do not dodge roll with you which puts them out of their misery within seconds during some bossfights and even pvp.
- If they allow us to stowaway a pet permanently it means we need a second class mechanic or some sort of increase of dps/armor depending on a weapon for example.

Let’s call the Greatsword mechanic the Tiger and gives increased endurance regen with a passive increase in damage. Just an example!

I can understand you wish to fix the Short Bow and but a emphasis on using all our skills on the Short Bow but, the problem with the Short Bow is that our 1 (auto attack) is the only ability that only does damage. Our 2 is a frontal cone poison which is nice to keep on the target but damage wise I consider only those to be viable for spamming. 3 in it’s current state just makes my mind boggle and never saw a good use for it the backflip with a 1 second swiftness (it’ll be if you’re turning around) and it’ll break my strafing forcing me to stand still for a second which is just as fatal. 4 and 5 are my utility skills and I try to keep those available for the moments I actually need those. In PvP that would be a warrior trying to do a billion blades or a thief trying to backstab me. In PvE i stopped using the Short Bow entirely but when I did use it the general idea for me was the same and 5 was only used to daze special abilities on NPC’s. To sum it up

- Crossfire is only viable damage spam
- Poison Volley is a okay spam to put in between
- Quick Shot is not viable for most of my kiting and strafing
- Crippling Shot is situational
- Concussion Shot is important to save up to prevent certain abilities that would otherwise mean you’re dead

I’m mostly using the Greatsword now cause it has some nice utility
- 3rd auto attack is an evade
- 2nd skill is a bleed and okay frontal cone damage
- 3rd skill allows me to leap to target
- 4th skill blocks and knocksback or allows me to cripple
- 5th skill is a daze similar to concussion shot

Overall this works well with me being the frontline dps in instances while most of my friends play support and pure dps on their necro, thief, mesmer and guardian

Server transfers beeing overabused?

This will always be the case. The problem they don’t realize is that when they do transfers to these winning servers that change at the end of the week again cause of the new match up.

I don’t think it’s too bad though it’ll balance out in due time. You’ll drop or go up in rank and then get crushed and go back down in the match up rank.

That’s a very kind gesture of you. If you post it for a low price on the market many would turn around and buy it to sell it for double or even triple the price cause that’s how things go.

I would love to see anyone carry a legendary be it Sunrise/Twilight or even them combined for the Eternity one day. To the person that wins and gets to make that weapon. I do ask if you post a screenshot of it while you carry it with pride!

Best dungeon class

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Leviatana.8107

As far as i have noticed in my dungeon runs. All classes bring their own trades to the field. The most wanted class is Guardians though due to the high amount of support utilities they carry with them often allowing you to survive against all odds sort of thing. Necromancer and Mesmers also bring nice utility, Elementalist are good dps or support class, Thief has some short nice burst damage they can dish out and have the ability for a blind combo field.

As I myself play a Ranger for now (process of switching to a warrior or guardian). Some of the valid points given here I have to agree with and some probably not as i see this from my own pov.

Rangers at the moment lack DPS meaning that some fights will be a bit harder specially when things need to go down quick overall. As a ranger what i feel that is a bit easier is actually tanking. I use a longbow for the aoe cripple and vulnerability shot and maybe some of the other skills. We have own boon we can keep up for about half a minute (Stability) preventing you from being feared, knocked down etc. We can hold ourselves standing while the group kills the adds and I deal with the main boss during fights thanks to the “Signet of Stone” 6 seconds of no damage taken. My main weapon for this is also Greatsword even though it’s damage is not the best.

Be careful about kicking players from a dungeon group

Leviatana.8107

Yea, I have similar experience to this. My friend and I joined up with a group of people and she get kicked halfway cause she wasn’t good enough in there eyes. While we did several runs after without a single issue. I think in the end it comes down to what sort of people you go with which is hard to tell when you join up first time with them.

Like Nemeth lately I have had several new guildies that came over from a different mmo and I shortly explain every encounter to these newbs and instead of running around like headless chickens they are in the first fight they know mostly what to do and finishing things up flawlessly. I do the same with pugs, i ask them beforehand if they have xperience on any of the paths, if not i’ll explain them shortly on how the encounter will works out and in we go!

Thought i have to disagree on your second part of being undergeared a fresh 80 with 80 greens and perhaps some rare weaponry can be just as effective as any other player with half a brain . Ofcourse some encounters might last a bit longer but nonetheless i haven’t suffered more deaths cause we had a few “undergeared” people around as you could call it. I like to state that the only way to learn the ropes is by actually doing it and having a nice crew on your first run can make the difference between a good start or a long butthurt run that nobody actually wanted.

Rangers are the Witch Elf/Hunter from Warhammer Online. Nerfed into the ground and never looked back and only fixes you’ll see are description changes and more nerfs if they can find a place to put them. It’s sad but true. Powerful classes will be “nerfed” but at same time buffed in a different part so they won’t really notice anything but a spec change every now and then cause that’s were the main population will be playing.

My guardian is on it’s way to 80 (65) and my Warrior is also on it’s way now. Using my Ranger mostly to gather tokens from instances so i can gear either of my alts. That way I can jump right into whatever action I want them to when they reach their 80s.

On another note. Since they nerfed Short Bow, I have been playing with my Greatsword allot more and it’s quite fun but the dps feels lacking even though i am running a power/vitality spec with around 55% crit.

Someone mentioned to stow away the Rangers pet. The problem with this idea is that if he uses a starting hit often with a bow from a distance before engaging the pet gets kicked out of the stow option which means that he can bounce away as much as he likes to for the duration of that attack. The best thing is to probably change it so it can bounce up to a certain amount of times and increase the amount of bounces through a trait perhaps.

Backstab hitting for 19k as some people are saying is somewhat understandable but in WvW situations it’s often harder to avoid due to fps drops als dodge rolling everytime a thief goes into stealth would make me end up with no endurance. Since most thiefs usually have another way to go into stealth (CnD) they’ll use that to get rid of your dodge chances at least.

To the person mentioning about thiefs with 10k hp. That’s probably your typical glasscannon spec you’re talking about which can be easily changed if you change some things around for some extra vitality and endurance but that might mean that your backstab goes down from 19k to 12k in exchange for your health going from 10k to 19k!

Personally I think the damage on a Ranger feels a bit lacking specially burst wise and I sincerely hope they’ll introduce a trait and way to stow away the pet and gain a passive damage boost while the pet is gone.

Roll out that new reward system noaw!

Anyway I noticed such dissapointment a few days ago. It’s weird our setup wasn’t much different then before on the 3rd path inside AC and yet we had a very hard time suddenly. We were stuck for about 2.5 hours the second time on defending two crystals from the zerglings before we gave up since we do have to sleep at some point or we be sleepin at work. Yet a few days before we did that same run with a 80 necro instead of 40 and ended up going alright after a few wipes.

I think money wise AC has been very profitable to me. Using the Omnomberry Bars to increase my gold find by 40% I noticed that about 2 gold type mobs drop 7 silver each, the final boss drops around 21 silver and then the 1st time path rewards on each run gets me close to a gold each run with little repair cost cause the other 2 paths are quite easy to do. Though my plan to do 2 runs at night and switch between the Asura and Human runs on odd/even days got ruined since my group now prefers to avoid that asura run till we got better gear in general.

How to combat "folding" in WvWvW (Constructive)

There some good changes you mentioned and some I personally like less cause to me it feels like you’re more helping the winning server even more so. I can understand why the outmanned buff appears sometimes and yet it won’t change anything cause it doesn’t really give any sort of advantage to actual PvP. Some of the choices I like to see differently.

Outmanned buff – Either remove or change it in someway. Changing it would mean giving buffs that work similarly to the Orbs (extra stat boost, health increase and perhaps a boost in gold and karma if people are so interested in that)

The other way I could see this turn out to be would be changing the orbs.

Orbs can make a winning faction win even more so cause it’s harder to take out a group vs group fight with people that have 15% more health and 150 stats points extra.

If the outmanned buff would be removed i would use these orbs as a factor:

Put a Orb in each factions home area (one you cannot conquer) and bring out 3 orbs into the Eternal Battlegrounds. The Orb from the borderlands homeland will activate if you’re race is outmanned or down by a certain amount of points. The Orbs of Power within the Eternal Battlegrounds will have more chance to exchange hands.

Nightcapping: I don’t care too much about this. Servers with a global population will always go up in the list during the evening and will go back down in the day. Weekends they can show off their real strengths and weaknesses and usually turn into a deciding factor for those specific servers.

Population Disparity: I agree some servers have less active people at night time and that sucks. Changing transfers will happen sooner or later if we/I like it or not. Since I have a guild on Far Shiverpeaks and friends on Blacktide (i switch every now and then between these two) which for me is tiring and I hope this guest system goes up sooner then later. Transfering won’t change much about the WvW though ofcourse some transfer to winning factions but every server doesnt win every time when they go up in rank eventually they’ll have a roadblock with full servers.

I do agree what one mentioned was that emphasis on supplies should be more immediate in towers, keeps and castles. The more upgrades the more supplies you’ll need to hold to maintain your upgrades perhaps and decrease the cost of them somewhat cause of the upkeep. This will force you to decide between upgrades or also defend your supply lines making the fights a bit more dynamic then it is at the moment. It’s a bit easy to predict how the bowl movement will be.

On further note after rereading some bits. Outmanned or Orbs maybe some sort of siege weaponry buff which only works in the siege area (not the puzzle area) I can agree on. I do jump into the puzzle area sometimes to grab myself some Orichalcum Ore afterall. I cannot imagine if someone just happened to be outmanned at night suddenly one shotting me with an arrow cart on top of the kitten well.

Sadly enough I can somewhat understand why people tend to think of tricks like these. I can also understand the people with a steady versatile group don´t see this as a problem. PUGs and groups that are quickly setup however do have a problem with this usually cause the right combination of classes isn’t there nor TS/Ventrilo communication.

Instead of “nerfing” the difficulty as some like to call a single event in the entire CoF dungeon bring the overall difficulty up a bit and lower the difficulty of the bomb door. We’re all aware that it’s an easy ride to the door and that’s where everyone hits the break and gets stuck for hours if they don’t have the people that can stay up long enough to survive.
