Lol please, pvp isn’t pvp orientated so… You do less pvp in spvp then a roamer gets in an hour….

REAL pvp is about beating the other player… In spvp game mode you are fighting someone with a handicap to either prevent you from decapping a point or to just slow down a cap… A thief plays at a quarter of its potential in pvp and same with many other classes, kiting is shunned upon and all the builds and pace is completely different, the entire mode isn’t actually orientated around pvp you can be a total kitten player and do well in pvp if you can just rotate and flip points while dieing slowly its pathetic. (You can validate this by dueling a lot of the “legendary” ranked guys, they are mind numbing to duel just takes a year to kill them, however they are brilliant at the 3 circles.)

Dire should be on equal playing terms with Soldier

Condi should require precision & ferocity to hit its max DPS not a single stat.

This aligns perfectly with Anet’s game objective of being a ‘casual’ mmo. By introducing these amulets every class gets enormous amounts of sustain effectively making virtually any casual player (as long as they run ‘meta’) feasible in pvp.

I think having continum split not effect elites would have made a lot more sense or maybe a 1s daze added to moa when not split

Adding the ability to jump while in moa would’ve made at least the good players survive most of the moa due to obstructions and kiting. But that would involve more than 10 seconds of dev time.

How is jumping going to solve anything?

That’s called the celestial amulet.

How so… celestial is far better for some classes then other… this isn’t valid at all, if everyone is balanced fairly with no amulet then you won’t have the above scenario even happening..

Meta will shift as balance progresses…balance is not a destination, it’s a continuous process.

I don’t like the current meta either at the moment, but this idea is silly.

Why is this idea silly? its far easier to balance. A good example (Albeit 1 v 1) is blade and soul, they do an amazing job of balancing all classes.

They don’t take your gear into consideration and everyone is forced to play on equal terms.

Throwing more variables into the mix is going to make it far more difficult to balance, theres no way around it.

Why do we have to continually deal with stupid OP builds and a meta… if amulets are removed… only weapon skills and utilities require balance (Which is a lot less work).

Its far easier to balance the class if you don’t have to take into consideration each amulet that class could possibly have.

Already bored of the Alpine maps again.

Thank you for pointing this out, now I can point out to some of the trolls that I was right!

I said this, a few times: that subjectively (day, week, month) people would get bored of them because they are too old and plain and wide open and boring!

You are so wrong. My guild mates and I are playing on our BL which we haven’t done in several months. We hate the simplistic and tedious desert BL and appreciate the superior Alpine BL.

Just give it time, maybe you’re one of the ones it will take a month for :P

lol you realize, so many people played the old alpine borderlands indefinitely and the only reason they quit is because of the desert borderlands… hence how dead the bloody servers were post HoT… It went backwards completely in population for wvw..

My entire guild still hasn’t returned from DBBL. We all quit cause the new borderlands were way too big, no fights no nothing… Except most have already found other games and some are slowly returning..

Or

When the game is about knowing your placement, when to interrupt, dodge, block and evade, to know when to disengage and when to cleave or stun.

I personally like the “slow paced” game that we have now, though I would like more viable builds though and some healing classes are a little too good.

You have everything you stated in the slow paced in the fast paced game mode as well.. just the stakes are much higher and far less forgiving.. The only difference being is if you consistently make mistakes its okay, because you have lots of sustain… Where as in the fast paced mode your dead

I don’t think you get it. They’ve pretty much outside of 1 or 2 amulets gutted passive defensive stats. This means, if you as a player are unable to kill someone in a 1v1, look at yourself not the game.

A thief alone can perma stealth, and easily run from any class, a scrapper is virtually unkillable if played correctly, the only time he would die is if he stays too long? I dont quite understand your point..

You can go bunker as kitten and last for ever.. I am not saying they are unkillable what I am saying its currently less skill based and incredibly slow paced…. I personally don’t want a duel or a fight to last for ever with some noob just running around and doing nothing.. for example a bunker guardian on a point… a staff ele, even a good d/d ele, a bunker chronomancer, a bunker warrior and a bunker guardian are all quite competent at sitting on a point being pathetic players and still difficult to kill yet this is considered “viable” lol its so dumb the meta

What has happened to this game? Why on earth does everyone in pvp and wvw require 15 minutes of kitten ing around to even die or kill and vice versa..

I can’t believe how much it has changed since release, I remember when you would make a single mistake and people would instantly capitalize on that and its over you have lost / died…. Now you can continually make mistake after mistake and still take for ever to die or just get pushed off a circle and reset….

Is this is how they make the game beginner friendly? anyone can pick up a meta build have immense amounts of sustain while kitten ing around and still being able to survive… I personally find this boring as hell and the entire game has turned into such an INCREDIBLY slow paced game…

I am assuming this is the way the community wanted the game to turn, I really want to know other peoples opinions on the current ‘meta’.. Are people happy with this?

Yeah… I have pretty much quit now… EBG is absolutely toxic builds with toxic roamers, nobody plays for fun just to stay alive and run away. Won’t even cover the new desert borderlands as they are just pve only no players on them.

Initially I figured I just had to readjust my playstyle to match EBG, tried it went absolute cheese stealth spam as possible… Completely hated it no fun no challenge and now im done with wvw… Until roaming is feasible on a non stealth abusing class I wont be looking back.

Unless your in a low tier, Its highly unlikely that anything is viable for solo roaming apart from thief or maybe PU max stealth mesmer..

There is too much zerging and the fights are too unreliable.

You used to be able to roam on the borderlands but thats gone and not coming back… so really your only option with solo roaming is low tier (Deserted) or high tier stealth abuse.

  • Describe a typical hour for you in the Alpine Borderlands in the past. For example, What size of group were you running in? What kind of tasks did you run? What activities did you do?

Groups of 5, Actively flipping towers camps in an attempt to lure fights.

  • Compare your experience described above with a typical hour spent in Eternal Battlegrounds, if you went there at all. Does your style of play change between the 2 maps?

Completely changes, EBG is lots of zergs, impossible to roam without heavy stealth (Not very fun abusing stealth).

  • Compare your experiences described above with an hour spent in the new borderlands.

Spend 30 minutes flipping a tower, nobody even comes out to fight… can roam for ages without seeing a single player.

  • Describe the nature of combat in the borderlands in the past. How have the new borderlands impacted this paradigm for you? What style or build changes might it cause? For example, knocking people off cliffs or into lava might play a more important role.

Combat is still the same.. I see the potential for fights in the middle around the laser event.. just total lack of players.

  • In your experience, compare the time it takes take a structure or objective here, then it did in the past.

Took a couple of towers and their keep…. with no resistance then proceeded to EBG… its no fun taking an objective if theres nobody to defend it or fights to be had..

  • How is the loot and wxp for you compared to in the past? Will it be able to sustain whatever you are doing? Did it take a hit, or was it improved? If you are planning to unlock an elite specialization, do you think you were helped or hurt in these regards? Do you think you could pursue any other in-game goals just by playing WvW?

  • How will the map change impact the long sessions (multiple hours) you spend in WvW?

Seem to get bored and rage quit a lot faster on EBG, only option for fights..

  • In 100 words or less, describe how the new BLs could be improved.

Time gate them… Only one should be available at once… there is no way even T1 population can cover these three maps..

  • In 100 words or less, describe how the borderlands work to a new WvW player.

Dont bother running unless you have a tag? You cant solo anything and its slow paced.

  • In 100 words or less, describe how the borderlands work to a veteran WvW player that is new to the maps.

Same as the old borderlands.. just slow paced and not much action… Your best bet is to go straight for a keep if you want a fight.

  • Which map am I most likely to find you currently, if you’re on Gw2?

I would maybe play the new borderlands if EBG was deleted or removed…. But currently its too big with virtually no players… Forced to play EBG (The map I hated with a passion prior to HoT is now my “favorite” map….)

Anet need to limit the new borderlands so only one is available at a time… not all three.. its quite evident that T1 doesn’t have the player capacity to make this work so what their intentions were with the other servers is beyond reason.

The lower tier servers are actually more enjoyable and probably the best for roaming. There is absolutely no reason to go to the new Borderlands cause even on T1 you can run around for 40 minutes and get one fight…. Where as on lower tier servers such as T3 & T4 EBG is booming and its not filled to the limit with mindless zerglings… So removing the lower tier servers is a bad idea as majority of roamers will considering transferring out of higher tier servers to go roam in lower tier ones.

I love the new maps, I see great potential for roaming and also the think the oasis event everyone is complaining about has amazing potential…

This oasis event is epic, It gets players out of towers forces zergs to split up and capture the power cores making small man play vital and bringing fights to the center of the map when this event is on (Who would possibly complain about this?)… My only complaint is that there is only 1 trade in point (There should be multiple, just so a server that heavily outnumbers the others cant leave half of its players defending the exchange point to effectively lock out any other server from completing it.)

The main downside to the desert BL’s at the moment is the sheer amount of space thats covered for such a small player base. Even on T1, these maps are dead, It almost feels as if one of the new BLs is triple the size of the existing alpine borderlands. Even at T1 at offpeak hours, these alpine borderlands were dead and not very populated.

To organize the new desert BL’s a bit more they should be time gated (EBG still available 24/7), very similar to EOTM approach (Where only X borderland is available for 2 hours or something). When 2 hours is up the next borderland gets opened for 2 hours. Rinse and repeat. This will definitely centralize the players more on maps, bring a lot more action to the new maps and improve over all game play.

The thief has more support then mesmer (Can stealth your guard far easier, drop smoke fields you can use)….. You could go a heavy (Guard or Rev, both have high sustain) but you would be relying on stealth from your friends as its guaranteed you will be focused first.

The existing dash was kittening horrid, tbh all of them were… They were not fluent at all and extremely susceptible to lag. I noticed that I would get massive delay just attempting to dodge roll and the fact the dodges would get interrupted?

Everyone who is playing with over like 200 ping would notice it instantly, the existing daredevil dodge rolls would get u killed more then they would save you, Literally the most frustrating experience I ever had.

I am glad these changes are coming as I will now actually use a grandmaster trait while playing DD.

yeah this is just a golem under the map, unfortunately he is abusing a bug. Not a hacker, I have been pushed under the map, or into a wall a couple of times previously…. this guy just did it with a golem or either found out how to do it. There used to be a place on EB, if you used shortbow 5 on thief on the side of a mountain you could forcefully go under a map and then use a signet to pop up into a tower… Seems very similar (Especially since you can short bow 5 a golem).

Solution to fix the population imbalance

Make it so that if you want to capture a tower you must hold the respected camp this adds more depth to flipping objectives and splits the offensive groups population in two enabling smaller populated servers to better defend their objectives while providing them with two possibilities:

Flip the camp linked to the tower the enemy zerg is attempting to take, preventing the tower from flipping for an 4 minutes and giving the tower lord RI as well. Or attempt to wipe the offensive zerg which will some of its forces defending the camp.

This makes more room for small skirmish fights and also spreads out players across the map making it quite possible for low pop servers to still rally a group of 5 and easily flip a camp + hurt the PPT. Could prevent servers from receiving PPT for the respected objective if they don’t own the linked camp or tower e.t.c.

For lower pop servers they are able to distribute their forces more appropriately, Puts more emphasis on camps which do not require a blob to flip. Effectively enabling small skermish/outnumbered groups to split up and hurt the PPT far more.

Planetside did this fairly well so you weren’t able to go and instantly ninja flip something on the other side of the map without owning the linked objectives first and it also greatly helped rally people and find fights quickly (Which is another huge complaint many people have on low pop servers).

Blobs will still be able to dominate more with higher larger zergs, but the smaller servers also are able to split their forces appropriately to flip camps and capture towers and skermish/outplay their opposition while being outnumbered (Nobody wants to fight zerg vs zerg if you have a 10-20 man zerg vs a 60 man BG zerg).

In addition to this, I know many players get demoralized when they lose their fully upgraded keep by being quickly golem rushed. Small groups are quite capable of dealing damage to larger outnumber servers as virtually anyone can solo and flip a camp (even in t1 currently) and its far easier to find fights and predict where a server is hitting. (Which lets face it, is the main reason we are playing wvw so we don’t have to fight in a circle).

FPS Issue with the 9/9 patch [merged]

This patch hasn’t resolved it for me, I am still receiving horrible stuttering and freezing (Even though the option panel does not reflect it at all). It says I am running at around 60-100 FPS, however in game it feels no more then 20, turn the screen and its jolting and horrible.

Specs: 3570k + 7970. Latest patch didn’t resolve this for me, however I am now in the process of downloading GW again >.>. Update graphic drivers didn’t resolve anything only experiencing issues in GW since the feature pack

Noticeable stuttering issues since the patch

Settings aren’t making a difference for me, However the game is reporting that my FPS is fine, Saying I have 60-100 FPS but I turn the screen and it feels like its displaying 3 frames a second even though options itself says I have 100 FPS.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Currently in process of reinstalling GW as its just unplayable as of feature patch

CPU: 3570k
GPU: 7970
RAM: 8GB
SSD: raid 0

I have a weird bug after this patch, My FPS has dropped atrociously so bad that I deleted GW and am currently reinstalling, Thought it potentially had something to do with my graphic card but its strictly GW 2 only.

I am running 3570k and AMD Radeon 7970.

GW 2 reports that I am running at about 100 FPS, however it legit feels like 10-15 its freezing when I turn the screen its all choppy and definitely isn’t 100 FPS. Its so drastically bad that WvW is just unplayable (still redownloading the 20+GB so not sure if this will resolve it.)

Just updated AMD drivers as well, didn’t resolve anything set it to performance and set all settings to lowest as possible can’t resolve this issue.
