Nice find!
Thank you.
This might be very interesting for this theory.

Hello Chris,
Thank you for this CDI. I will be posting what I like to see changed and then take my leave again. Can’t be bothered with reading all those posts.
1. Rewards
I would like to see the rewards increased. I think it would be a fair to have the same gold reward that dungeons currently have and have that in fractals too. At the moment I’m better of farming easy dungeons than doing high level fractals, which shouldn’t be the case in my oppinion. A nice solution to this is to get a daily 1g for a level 1 fractal, 1.5g for level 2 and 2-3g for a level 3. And to keep everyone happy, let the level 50 fractal have a higher daily gold reward than a level 10 fractals. This because higher level fractals require more effort and time than lower level fractals.
Maybe increase the gold reward with 50 silver for every 10 fractal levels?
2. Rings
I’m really surprised that I’m able to get a non-infused ring at fractals level 49. I think that whenever you get a ring above level 30 it should be an infused ring. This because level 30 almost requires you to have infused rings to even participate because of the AR. Let us have more use of the rings, make them salvageable so that we might get ascneded materials and a small chance on 1,2,3,4,5 Agony orb that we use to create higher AR?
3. Dredge
I’m sure that many people already gave their oppinion on the dredge fractal. ArenaNet already fixed a few ‘exploits’ in the recent past because people were finding alternative ways to speed up the fractal. However I find it disturbing that ArenaNet treats the symptons and not the disease. It’s because of the broken/long fractal that people look for alternative ways. I think that the trash should be severally reduced on the bomb/wall part, that the clown car with the endless trash should be removed and make the champion, that spawns at the clown car, a legendary endboss of that fractal to reduce the length.
What of the legendary dredge suit boss? Make that a fractal of its own, just like the molten alliance bosses, maw and may trin. I think that this boss would be a nice addition to those bosses.
4. Pristine fractal relics
I’m having waaay to many of these currently and have no actuall reason to spend them either. I don’t play on alts so I don’t need them to create another backpiece or buy bags with them. I would like to see more rewards that require these relics to buy. What about the fractal capacitor in different colors or 10 AR infusions?
5. Fractal weapons
I don’t need the drop rate to be increased but I would like to see a small change. Like I said before, I only play Guild Wars 2 on my main character, which is my thief. The chance to get one weapon is already significant small, but to get an actual weapon that my thief uses is almost none. Therefor I suggest the fractal weapon box, just like we already have with Ascended weapons. Keep the current droprate but make it drop a chest so that we can choose which weapon we would like to get.
6. Make use of the mists
You might be wondering what I mean with this, but what I mean is that we play/experience these dungeons in the mists. Which means that almost everything is possible, so make use of that! Recreate old GW1 dungeons/missions (Abaddon fight, Shiro fight, Lich King etc maybe?) You already made a great example with the fall of Ascalon fractal. Guild War 2 is a sequal to it’s great predessor, make use of that, please!? There’s nothing wrong with letting people replay their favorite game with some new fancy graphics, brings back nostalgia and I love nostalgia!
That was about it, thanks again for this CDI Chris and I hope that we can build a better fractals of the mists together with the community!
It was amazing to once again get a kill. So many people, so many commanders, so many regulars, and even a number of new players. We all did so much and put so much into this fight that it’s so fulfilling to down that wurm once again.
I like to think that my declaration of giving no more speeches until we get a kill was a motivating factor to get us another kill. ;D
I love you ShoeGuy
loot-wise how does it look?
Kinda crap. You get 3 rares from daily chest and some blues and greens. Tequatl actually gives more loot when you kill it.
I love Desolation, I love you guys! Thank you once again! GOGO TEAM CRIMSON
Please just watch this 20 minute video.

I think that this video gives a better insight at what the OP means/wants. And I couldn’t disagree with him in this video once.

I’m still bumped that I didn’t get rewarded with the achievement after killing Cobalt head. I would have gotten the title by now but instead I have to kill the head again..
After making a support ticket asking if they could somehow still give me the achievement, they just redirected me to the game bug section..
Just imagine UFO and big robotic ladies in the original Guild Wars.
It just doesn’t feel right considering the lore aspect.. And it still doesn’t in GW2, for me atleast.
I’m no lore buff, but why is the Durmond Priory investigating this?
Don’t the orders strictly concentrate their efforts on fighting the elder dragons? Just seems odd they mentioned that…
That’s because the living story takes place before the pact was made. This to prevent spoilers for new players who haven’t played their personal story yet.
Uh, what? Living story takes place after the personal story. Dragonbash was a celebration of zhaitan’s death.
No sir.
Dragon Bash is to symbolize the resistance to the Elder Dragons. It had nothing to do with Zhaitan.

After watching the new trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhrVVkHmwt4
And reading some additional information: http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/01/14/exclusive-preview-of-guild-wars-2s-origin-of-madness-release/
I came to the conclusion that the “secret deep below” is a new (raid) world boss like Tequatl.
Quote:
“Following in the footsteps of the revamped Tequatl encounter, this release will introduce a brand-new, permanent world boss in the form of an ancient, polycephalous jungle wurm that lives beneath Bloodtide Coast.”
However I think that this boss is only a part of something bigger, something that is still unkown. It could have something to do with Mordremoth, but I doubt that.
Quote:
“Although Johanson didn’t want to spoil too many of the fight’s mechanics, he did hint that the wurm can regrow its multiple heads”
also
“The creature’s underground structure is so huge that it spans the entire zone”
What do you think?
(edited by Luquatic.3825)
Great idea. I would actually get interested in mini’s if this was in-game. I also would like to have more mini’s that require a deed in order to gain the new mini, just like Liadri.
If the datamined VIP membership is indeed implemented, I’m quitting for good.
It won’t be implemented, devs already confirmed this.
On topic
I’ve been playing this game since release and I’m also a GW1 veteran. I probably will play this game until it’s dead. However that doesn’t mean im satisfied with the game right now and won’t be until they scrap the LS. I don’t like it, it’s unpolished, too rushed, lacks good story telling and the achievements are a grind fest. I would be fine with the LS if it’s something too keep us occupied while we wait for an expansion. But I will never be happy with LS as main end game, this is how I feel right now.
Unlike others, I do like the ascended crafting. But I still miss a lot of things, things we should have had since the release of the game. Good news is that Chriss confirmed that guild halls, player housing and even a reworked version of Signet of Capture are very likely to come.
I just hope ArenaNet will consider the creation of an expansion.
I’d suggest you go to LA if you want to chat, lots of nonsense in the chat there. Atleast on my server.
-A reworked (cleaner) version of Signet of Capture would work very well for Role Diversification.
- Guild Halls (Customizable from mass play rewards)
YES please
All the other ones are great proposals as well!
The problem has been fixed! The Guild Wars 2 support team helped me out.
Hello,
Whenever I want to open the Currency Exchange tab it stays blank. I am able to load all the other pages, inculding the gem shop.
I don’t think you need the community to tell you that Guild Wars 1 is a perfect example regarding horizontal and vertical progression, right?
I know that Guild Wars 2 is trying to become it’s own game and that is completely fine. I don’t want GW2 to become the same as GW1, however, taking the succesful things from GW1 and bring those things to GW2 isn’t a bad thing.
To discuss the horizontal and vertical progression some more, I think that the Ascended armor is a good thing. Because it isn’t a necessity but it is still a nice thing to have. You can just play the game and gather the materials slowly or grind events/dungeons and gather the materials some faster. It’s a nice addition to keep me motivated to join that one event or to do an extra path on a dungeon with my guildies.
On the level 80 cap topic, I’m still not sure what I feel about that. When I first heard that ArenaNet was going to raise the level cap from 20 to 80, I really wondered why they would do that. After leveling my thief I can understand why they did it but the question remains, how are they gonna solve this IF any expansion comes out.
Are they just gonna make more hearts/view points without raising the level cap or are they gonna do something whole different? Or will they raise the level cap and with that the vertical progression?
Anyway, I think that the current vertical progession is fine at the moment but I think that ArenaNet could increase the horizontal progession some more. I see customisation as a horizontal progession and we’re still missing the option to dye our weapons. Also, I would like to see some more exclusive cosmetic weapons. A perfect example is the weapons that we can only acquire from Tequatl. I really like it that we can’t buy it from the TP and that it can only be obtained by completing the event. That makes the weapon feel so much more special, if you have it ofcourse. I hope to see more exclusive weapons in the future! Maybe if they revamp Shatterer and Claw of Jormag, those too could have exclusive weapons or armor maybe?
That was it for now. I still want to thank ArenaNet that they want to make their game better with the help of the comminuty, because that is a great thing!

Here’s my list:
1. Re-implement Elite skills and the way they were acquired in GW1
2. Moar skills for every class, like, alot more
3. Normal and Hard mode
4. UW and FoW
5. Add Guild Halls
6. Double professions like GW1 had.
7. No more vertical progression and level cap raising
Living Story could be something special, but I have my doubts it’ll get a second chance.
It could be something special, but ArenaNet doesn’t know how to handle potention. They have to drasticly change the way they bring the story to the players if they want to make living story a succes.
I hate Living story simply put
I think 80% of the current active people that play GW2 hate living story.
Well I can only speak for me personally. I quit because of vertical progression and because fractal levels were reset. I don’t find enjoyment or challenge in any of the new content and the story telling is too light for my appreciation.
1. The Fractal levels did not reset!
2. The only reason there is a small vertical progression is because ArenaNet mis judged exotic gear. They thought it would be a hard to get armor which isn’t the case. So they made Ascended armor to be the hard to get armor. That’s the only vertical progression you will ever see in GW2 because it’s the last tier and there won’t be another tier.
In the recent blog post from ArenaNet they announced the ending of the first living story season.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-2013-the-year-in-review/
I noticed that they said: “First season”
Does this mean that we can expect a second season starting in 2014 with a different story?
I personally hope not. Do you?
EDIT: This topic has not been created to blacklist the living story! I just want to see people’s opinion on wether they would like to see a second living story season.

I really hope that they will put a stop to LS when the Scarlet thing is over. I don’t mind having an update now and then for dungeons, traits, skills, weapons, armor, balancing etc.
They should focus on what the community wants and not what ArenaNet thinks what is best for the game. The community has been screaming the past few months that the LS is a failure. Most of them don’t even want an expansion at this time because they’re afraid that ArenaNet will fail to deliver good story writing. I don’t blame them to be honest.
No I don’t care about the LS anymore. I wish they would focus more on the core of the game, things like: dungeons, fractals, Guild Missions, skills, traits etc. We still don’t have GvG, Guild Halls and Polymock minigame.
I did read an interessting theory about Scarlet’s master plan and I do want to see if that theory is correct, however the only way to get a good understanding about the story/lore is to look up third party websites because the game itself won’t give you enough details/information.
Maybe, just maybe, I will get interested in LS when they improve their writing and the way they deliver the story to the players.
I do love holiday updates but I don’t count those as LS.
Leveling for the first time should not be a grind in any way. You just explore the world and gain levels from it. This should be fun when you’re doing it for the first time because you’ve never seen those places before.
So your motivation should be:
- See the beautiful world
- Getting 100% map completion will give you an item to craft a legendary weapon with.
- Getting 100% map completion will also get you to level 80.
I would like to add that the game is not about the skill points but about enjoying the world. The grinding process comes later when you want to start grinding your cosmetic look at level 80.
Here’s a site what shows you what you can do with your skill points:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skill_point
Furthermore, Anise is the childhood friend of Jennah and a mesmer, not a necromancer. This means that people – Jennah included – knew Anise as a child. If Anise was Livia, they wouldn’t know this. Furthermore, they knew Anise before she was a Shining Blade member – she joined the Shining Blade because she was a childhood friend of Jennah.
Keep in mind that queen Jennah (and the devs) could have created this fake childhood story to cover up the real truth behind Anise.
The main reason they remove F/U is because only a very small portion of the community runs that path. (Same goes for CoF p3 and AC p2 etc..) When you’re trying to search for a TA group, all they want to do is U and F/F because these are short and quick (good for farming). I think ArenaNet wants us to run all three paths frequently and not only certain paths because because they’re good farmable.
I really love the weather overhaul idea! I feel that this is missing from the game and that it would make certain areas alot better, especially Orr with the thunder etc.
NERF TEQUATL, TOO EZ!
LOL
Nerfing is when you make the boss easier and buffing is to make something better/harder.
Proud to be from Desolation! Are we the first EU who made it?
Fifth, they seem to know something we don’t- or at least they think they do. At the end of Flame and Frost, a captured Flame Legion… shaman, I think he was… indicated something was coming that would would wipe us off the map, and that they Flame Legion would still be there after we were gone.
Maybe they’re worshipping the ED Primordus?
I don’t see the problem here.
$20 is a commen/normal price for a server change in MMO games.
nice and friendly bump
I have used my Holographic Dragon Wings on a PvE backpiece before. If I use a Transmutation Splitter, will I be able to convert it to PvP afterwards?
I really don’t want to spend my money on 300 gems just to try it out.

Hi there,
I’m not a big WvW player but I do play it everyday for my dailies etc. However I really miss having a bank in the borderlands. I like to switch my gear before heading into the world but instead I have to teleport back to LA first and join the que again. There is a tradingpost but there is no bank next to it?
I know that there is a bank if you go to your server’s borderlands.
I like this idea!
I want a normal and hardmode function just like GW1 had.
Alright thank you for the information!
The note on the wiki page from Livia wrote that Livia’s fate is explained in the book: Sea of Sorrows. I’m not planning on reading the book, that’s why I’m asking this question.
If a noble soul could tell me what happened to her and tell me wether she is still alive or not, that would be great!
More like, 0.8 year.
The game will celebrate the one year anniversary this month and trailers mostly come a half year before launch.
So I came upon the chinese trailer for Guild Wars 2 and I really enjoyed watching this trailer even though I can’t understand a single word. The animations and machina filming is imo way better than the original Guild Wars 2 trailer we saw 1,5 year ago.
Here’s link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4tGMcKoh_8&feature=youtu.be&t=4m59s
Let me know what you think and discuss!
TBH, I’d rather not have a living story that gives us one new zone or so in an ever multi-month long campaign against an Elder Dragon (face it, sooner or later they will go after the other Elder Dragons) or god forbid, getting access to Elona – one zone at a time each month! >.<
Yeah… in such cases, an expansion would be much better. But when expanding the story of pre-existing zones (or small zones like Southsun or Labyrinthine), then living story is adequate.
I agree
The devs said that they want to do the former. I’m ok with that. They’ve been able to deliver decent fixes and overhaulments alongside the living story.
The fact that they’ve not done so in a big bash makes it seem that it’s not been much. But they’ve don quite a lot.
Colin said in the interview from this month that they don’t know yet wether they will give us an expansion or give us the new content trough living story. I personally prefer the old school expansion because of the nostalgia, seeing trailers months before, going to the shop to buy it and install etc.
And I never said they didn’t give us much in the “Living Story”.
I get the feeling that right now we are being introduced to the characters and the setting, and in the releases to come, we’ll be fighting alongside Braham, Rox and Ellen against an elder dragon threat, supported various parties such as Kryta nobility, Black Lion Trading Company, and so on.
Now that you mention it, this could be true. But I sincerely hope this isn’t true because I want an expansion to show us all the new things and not a “living story”.
Is there any info about this place? Was it in the first game?
It is still unknown what happened to the observatory but if Kiel wins the seat from the council she will sponsor the players for a fractal that explains what happened there.
On other unrelated news, why is it called Lion’s Arch when there are no lions in Tyria?
I couldn’t find an official note telling us why it is called Lion’s Arch but I believe it’s called that way because there are several lion statues in the old Lion’s Arch and because there is a big lion statue “watching over” the harbor.
There are Lions on the planet.
The planet is called Tyria.
Indeed. This topic should be moved to the general discussion.
However I do agree with you about seeing things from GW1 back in GW2 because you don’t see much from GW1 in GW2. Missions were so awesome in GW1!
Truth is, we dont know enough about the nature of Elder Dragons. Not just we as players, but neither does the Pact. And its a pity this controversial aspect of the mystery is not yet adressed in any way through our oh-so growing Living Story throughout the months.
+1
