I can’t get GW2 to launch at all. I double click my desktop icon and it acts like it’s about to load but the login window never opens. It worked perfectly on April 18th. Please help!
You can transmute as many times as you want. You will have to have a transmutation crystal to transmute at level 80.
I think the glamour traits are helpful in a zerg. Null-field, feedback, veil, and timewarp all help out the zerg. I typically run GS and scepter/focus in a zerg.
I don’t think you need to get traveler’s runes if you are running with a zerg, there will be plenty of speed buffs going around.
I run Sw/Sw-Staff or Sw/P-Staff almost 100% of the time. I have never used swiftness runes. I just deal with the slowness. I actually try not to use blink too much while running from one place to the other, just in case I happen upon a situation where I need it.
I think it would really make WvW a lot more strategic. I don’t think there should be friendly clipping (troll concerns), but there should definitely be enemy clipping. I think it would diversify the types of builds you saw in WvW. I would love to see this happen.
Jhughes and I got a 5 man mesmer group together on Wednesday, although 3 of them were very inexperienced at mesmer, still love seeing the 10-15 clones up all at one time. Had 2 PU builds and 3 phant builds.
If any FA mesmers want to team up from 1-4 pm Pacific time you can whisper me in game. My IGN is Jade Truebloom. Have been a solo roamer about 80% of my time in wvw, so I am not good at teamwork, which is why it would be really nice to have someone like Pyro along to lead and teach.
That’s hilarious. Love it.
I leveled my mesmer with a GS/Staff and never felt like I was struggling at all. It is by far the most fun I have had leveling a character, starting at level 1.
That said, when I leveled my mesmer I had nothing to compare it to, so…maybe I just didn’t know any better.
Yes, I can join the guild and just not rep. Thanks!
IGN: Jade Truebloom
Server: Fort Aspenwood

Playstyle: Probably 60/40 WvW/PvE
Role: Probably Scholar
Any way I can participate in some of the stuff without joining the guild? As a leader of my guild I don’t think it would look good to be repping another guild, if that makes sense.
LOL. Miss TC too! Some of the best 1v1’s I’ve ever had were against TC.
You know what is more fun than solo roaming in wvw? Roaming with a 5 man mesmer team in wvw! You can see the confusion and frustration on your opponents’ faces when you have 15 clones/phantasms up.
So, is anyone interested in starting such a team with me on Fort Aspenwood?
I’d think about taking the 10 points out of Inspiration and putting it in Domination for Cleansing Conflagration. You’ll be able to remove more conditions I believe and you’ll have more access to stealth and thus boons.
I disagree. I think the Tengu will be right in there with Sylvari and Asura as far as how many people play them.
I think as soon as we see them open up some new portions of the map we will be seeing the Tengu as a playable race. I would guess that would be before the 2 year anniversary.
The Goonies [Goon] are always looking for friendly people to play with. Our number 1 goal as a guild is to have fun playing this game. We have regular guild events and a leadership that is always willing to help. Let me know if you are interested! We are a Fort Aspenwood guild.
“But they already do. Defenders have always had a great advantage over attackers even before that AC mistake Anet made.”
-What advantage was that?
And like I said, I would rather see fewer towers (which should be very difficult to take) and more open fields to fight in.
The ability to engage when they want, to buff up in safety to go back into the tower. To rain down damage from the walls while your melee jumps on them. The ability to let them in and use the opening as a choke. The ability even to build an arrowcart, even before that ridiculous buff it provided for good cover and decent pressure. It wasn’t so overpowered that it was totally unsportsmanlike.
Those might seem like small advantages but in capable hands they can be used in the right way and let you keep your tower/keep.
Fair enough. Thanks for the response. =)
It has always seemed to me way too easy to take a tower. Maybe I have just never seen a well played defense.

IMO, those are all necessary gold sinks.
Towers and forts should either give the defenders a huge advantage (like in real life) or they should just get rid of them all together, imho.
I would personally like to see fewer towers and keeps on the map and a lot more open space.
Female sylvari for my mesmer. For all the reasons Archangel listed. Plus in Guild Wars 2, the mobs that had mesmer skills were most often plants such as the Fanged Iboga, if I remember correctly.
Would love to see my mesmer be able to use dual pistols and dual daggers.
“I seriously doubt that when anet developed these dungeons thought about how easy would be to just skip 90% of the trash ingame”
I bet they did.
“are they fine with people exploiting their way faster to the loot ?”
Apparently. And if they are fine with it, it can’t be called an exploit.
The problem about thieves is not the stealth. In fact the stealth itself is quite good implemented in the game imho. However, the ability to heal up very quickly, even passivly through traits during stealth and that conected with condition remove every 3 seconds, via another trait and on heal and on teleport, makes thos D/P perma stealth theives very annoying. However, “annoying” is the correct describtion. It doesn’t make them OP.
I agree with you. I don’t mind stealth at all. What bothers me is when I successfully evade his burst and hit him pretty hard myself only to see him disappear and then reappear a few seconds later beyond 1200 range and fully healed.
“It would be quite possible to for example design something such that the “zerg” had to split up into parts to complete sections and unlock advancement for the other sides to get everyone to the end. Perhaps a section with jumping puzzles, while another way was rush though, another that rewards staying alive while a last rewards DPS."
^This. Multiple objective in different parts of the area that have to be completed at the same time. Would make things very interesting.
I think all guild members on the map you are currently on should be visible as a gold dot anyway. I think it would really encourage guild group play.
Yes, this absolutely yes. Right now my guild is having to rely on the leaderboards and go through our 400+ members to see when the last time they earned an achievement point. This isn’t always the most effective way and it is certainly time consuming.
Please give us the ability to see:
Last time logged on
Last time repped
% of rep timeIt would be nice to be able to see what guild a member is repping when they’re not repping our guild too.
This has been suggested several times on these forums. I really hope they make it so, and soon.
I would also like to be able to see how much influence members have earned for my guild and how they earned it.
“If it’s intended to skip trash why waste time and money to put those mobs there?”
So that the people who do want to kill those mobs can kill those mobs.
I don’t mind stealth stomping at all. In fact, I think every class should have something similar to stealth stomping.
What annoys me is stealth rezzing of a downed player.
I can’t understand why people are still trying to convince others that using a portal to help others skip content is somehow wrong. ANet gets to decide what is right and what is wrong. End of story. The people using portal to help others are playing the game how it was designed to be played. ANet designed this game to encourage “Players Helping Players”, it’s even the title to a forum subgroup.
If you don’t like how portal is used, that’s fine, no one can make you like it. But trying to make others feel like they are doing something wrong is silly. You don’t get to decide that.

There are 3 reasons I believe that ANet wants to allow people to use portals in jumping puzzles.
1)They could make it so that the portals didn’t work in the JP area, but they choose to allow it. That pretty much says it all.
2)But there are also reports of ANet employees laying down portals to the end of JPs.
3)ANet also has a long history from GW1 of allowing players to help other players skip content.
Hey there,
The Goonies are a casual PvX guild that are looking for friendly active players. Our number one goal is to make this game enjoyable for our members. We have several guild missions a week, at least 2 boons up at all times, and very helpful officers. Let me know if you are interested! Hope to hear from you soon.
You are playing an alt and constantly try to shatter your clones.
Hey Meathooks, the Goonies on Fort Aspenwood is a guild whose number 1 goal is to make this game enjoyable for its members. We have very helpful officers and a lot to offer new players. We have organize events almost every day, at least 2 boons active at all times, mumble voice service, and our own forums. If you are interested let me know! Hope to hear from you soon.
Hey PhyZiX, the Goonies on Fort Aspenwood are all about fun. We are a casual PvX guild and our number one goal is making the game enjoyable for our members. If you join us you will find helpful officers, organized events almost every day, boons, and mumble voice service. If you are interested let me know!
Once it’s on something you can transmute it as often as you like.
I actually think I like this idea better than the current guild missions.
I would like to see the living story progress to where we start hunting down the other dragons. When the races all organize to hunt them down, new areas will open up to explore in the name of finding and dealing with the remaining dragons. It would also be fun to open up the crystal desert down to elona. Having to fight our way down through new areas would be great. Then we could help the Elonians get rid of Joko. It would be a great way to merge living story and expansion.
Hey Panda, the Goonies on Fort Aspenwood are a friendly guild with one goal in mind, fun! We want our members to enjoy their game experience as much as possible. Our officers, therefore, are very helpful and friendly. We have guild missions and organized events almost every day. We usually have about 15-25 people online at the time you play. Anyway, hope to hear from you. =)
I’ve used it in combat before after watching one of Osicat’s videos. It’s fun, but I’d rather bring something else.
Agreed, I have asked to have guildmates show up as a gold dot on any map you are on as well. I think it would add tremendously to the community aspect of the game.
None of this makes sense to me.
Fall behind what?
What exactly is it you need to do dailies for? Unless you are doing nonstop fractals with every single character you should probably have hooked yourself up with whatever ascended gear you might want by now from laurels, so what is it you’re needing to do?
If you don’t want to do new content, don’t. If you don’t want to do dailies, don’t. Unless you simply don’t want to play the game, though, it is typically a simple job to complete most dailies just by doing what you like. I haven’t felt like I was grinding dailies since they changed them to the rotating selection process. There is almost no need to actually do living world content ever unless you really can’t live without whatever prize you get from the meta achievement.
I just don’t understand what the problem is here.
I don’t get it either. I never even look at the dailies until I’m about to log off. Then, if I only have one or two more to do I will quickly finish them in 10 minutes or less. Just by playing the game how I want to play it I usually get my daily done well before I log off. And if I don’t get my daily on a particular day big deal. It’s only one laurel.
I also don’t understand feeling like you have to participate in the living story. I usually play it to see what it’s all about, get a sense of the story, and then either go back to what I would normally do, or if it holds my attention, continue to work on the living story.
If I could give you some advice it would be this: play the game to have fun. If that is your only goal, then the rewards are bonuses and not the end all-be all of the game. Anyway, just my two cents.
The second person in my example will have put in double the time commitment, for less than a third of the rewards.
That’s only true if the only reward you care about is laurels. The person who puts in more time will get more gold, mats, karma, dungeon tokens, etc. And laurels are not the only way to get ascended items.
Anet wants to reward players for logging in every day. I personally suggest that you don’t even worry about laurels and just play the game for fun. The only time I ever even think about the daily is when I’m about to log off and and only need 1 or 2 of the dailies that I can easily complete in just a few minutes.
Don’t feel all smug and victorious when someone decides just to not fight you, they’re deciding you’re a waste of time and not a threat.
If you aren’t getting their health down very much after a long fight then yes, you can’t really say you won the fight. It would be more of a draw.
But if someone retreats because you were about to have them downed, that is absolutely a victory.
Yep, I just count it as a victory and move on to where I was going originally.
The Goonies on Fort Aspenwood are friendly and reasonable. We have some people who do dungeons and fractals, but honestly it is still often hard to get a group together. We don’t have any requirements to be in our guild, other than not being a jerk. Our officers all really enjoy helping people. We have several guild missions a week and organized activities almost every day. We are casual gamers and our number 1 priority is making this game fun for our members. If you can handle that, we may be the guild for you.
Without any grind at all I have never been wanting for transmutation stones…ever. Right now I have more than I will ever use. On my main character I bought the armor skin I wanted when I was about level 40. Always had plenty of stones anytime I wanted to change armor. By the time I got to 80 I had about 10 transmutation crystals just by playing the game. I don’t see what the big deal is.
Also, comparing Anet’s armor skin policy to WoW’s is just silly. Sure, you may end up paying a few dollars to be able to re-use your skin, but only if you want to. WoW forces you to pay what, $15 a month whether you want to re-use your skins or not. I’ll take Anet’s policy every single time.
Hey mXz, the Goonies in Fort Aspenwood are a casual and very friendly guild. Our number 1 goal is for our members to enjoy playing this game. We have boons, guild missions, lotteries, forums, mumble, and organized activities. If you are interested, let me know.
Hey Frozen, if you are on Fort Aspenwood, then the Goonies might be for you. We are a medium sized guild with only one goal, enjoy this game as much as possible. We have very helpful officers and there is definitely room to improve your rank. Let me know if you are interested!
- goes against everything that Anet believes in. It would lead to people getting mad when a random person joined a fight they were in and that is not conducive to a good community/teamwork atmosphere.
One idea I have to cut down on some of this stuff is to make it so that you only get the rewards and points for capturing a tower, keep, etc if your server then holds that position for at least 30 minutes. After that time everyone who participated in capturing that spot would get their rewards and points would start ticking for that position every 15 minutes like normal. I think it would put more priority on defending what you have captured instead of capping and leaving. Don’t know how it would play out, just an idea.
